>TQIt hastens the death of this game
Over 60% of all mythics and rares have been spoiled.
Why does turtleshit look this much better than spiderman? No way 3rd biggest superhero of all time had a shallower roster than a goofy 80s cartoon
>>97385579Wait how is sneak different from ninjitsu?
>>97385589Spider-man was an aftermath set upgraded to be a small set meaning the commons and uncommons were added only to facilitate draft.
>>97385589Most of the set had to be farted out at the last minute due to it being mandated to be larger and draftable at the 11th hour. Still doesn't explain why the cards are overall so underwhelming, plus the art in general is crap. Pretty much everything about the set was mishandled and it shows. It's crazy considering how good the Final Fantasy and Avatar sets turned out.
>>97385660They had a cycle of commons that were renamed magic cards because draft needed them but they didn't want to playtest the set. Shock showed up twice because of this.
Wotc is not taking responsibility for the leak and now the stores have to pay for it.
>>973856231. It can be put on any card types, including instants and sorceries2. It works on commanders, ninjutsu requires you to put stuff from your hand onto the battlefield
>>97385623You can use it from the Command Zone :^)
>>97385739It's no nullhide ferox
>Passed out before I could go to FNM prerelease because my sleep schedule's fucked from work>Open /mtg/ to see what people thought of prerelease>It's mostly just posts about how WotC accidentally leaked the newest set (again)People out here really complaining about Lorwyn Eclipsed when they're printing cards referencing an 80s theme song.
>>97385660>It's crazy considering how good the Final Fantasy and Avatar sets turned out.I love the FF set but Avatar was mediocre at best.
>>97385078>Fave card that deals with haste?Haste is a shit mechanic for ADHD riddled cunts.
>>97385781I didn't get any Turtles cards, but the Lorwyn prerelease felt like a janky limited environment. All the rounds at the location I was at went into overtime with the bulky lifelinkers and poor removal options. The Blight mechanic seems made for a Commander player wanting to try something weird, and good or them.I'm just refreshing so I can witness a card called "Leads"
>Marvel cards in Lorwyn spoiler season>Turtle cards in Lorwyn pre-releas boxesThe "Lorwyn Eclipsed" title was a joke by WotC, who fully planned to eclyps the last gasp of real Magic with UB shit
>>97385739>herIsn't Leatherhead a guy?
>>97385822Not since 2023.
How long until we get pronouns listed after Creature type?
>>97385589TMNT is hasbro in-house so you probably have a team and a bunch of consultants with better understanding of the IP. With Spiderman, not only did they have to pivot from an aftermath style set to a forced standard legal card set, they have to tip-toe on how they depict the cards and with the IP being boxed exclusively around just Spiderman, so you have construction workers, guys on chairs and pigeons because theres really not enough characters to show. With TMNT you have just enough lore to pretend its Kamigawa
>>97385623As the other said, also sneak is only during the declare blocker step, ninjustsu was whenever you want as long as the creature is unblocked (so you could ninjutsu after damage for example)
What standard deck/shell fits this two-card infinite creature combo the best.
>>97385818>the Lorwyn prerelease felt like a janky limited environment. All the rounds at the location I was at went into overtime with the bulky lifelinkers and poor removal options.Yeah, that's what I've seen online. I guess they assumed cards that power up your own stuff would be a replacement for removal since it would make people swing in more.>The Blight mechanic seems made for a Commander player wanting to try something weird, and good or them.I'm 100% convinced they did the Blight mechanic the way they did so that people would shut up about -1/-1 counter reprints and support cards for commander.>I'm just refreshing so I can witness a card called "Leads"They really know how to get people excited for Magic, don't they?
>>97385818>>97385983I feel like I play pretty fast, but holy shit when I got auntie whats her face down and started poping off with her my turns ground to a halt. The ETBs, blights, deaths, triggers it really ground the turns down. My brother who was playhing azorius with tons of taps, untaps, life linkers also were slow. Very fun but feels like alot for IRL play.>>97385931A 2 mana tutor that also self bounces? Seems decent.
>>97385834So much faggotery in the world the sewer water has HRT now
>>97385980You get infinite life and damage. Turtles prints chord of calling into standard. All standard decks are going to have a turtle card. Three years of michelangelo's technique into Glamermite combo
>>97385983The design article said they designed blight as a thinner version of sacrifice
>>97386128>always force fatties in art>is actually fatphobic in mechanic
>>97385623it now works in commander!!
Is this another “UB set takes the spotlight of Real Magic set” chapter? All I am seeing is forced memes and crap art cards…
>>97385781>magic in universe prerelease>"leaks" next UB setI'M NOOTICING
Any recommendations on custom sleeves? All I see on Etsy are Chinese dropshippers, Your Playmat can take 3 months, and Dragon Sleeves won't print copyrighted art.
>>97385918>Down with the Patriarchy!>destroy all he/him creatures
There has never been a more aptly named set than "Lorwyn Eclipsed" .
>>97383425>it's another 3 CMC panharmonicon tribal commander episode
>>97386366>and Dragon Sleeves won't print copyrighted art.what are you trying to get printed? dragon shield didnt give a shit about copyright for my sleeves.
>>97386403All these Commander designs kind of just blur into each other at this point. I wonder how EDH players keep track of all of them.
>>97386444They only care about their own cards. It's bad manners to interact with your opponents. Eye contact is a tier 4 social interaction
>>97386468I meant keeping track of the sheer amount of legendary creatures that get released each year and what each of them do. I cannot name a single legendary creature from one year ago (Aetherdrift), for example. Except I guess Loot. The large amount of text on these cards probably doesn't help either.
Imagine some jaded /mtg/ fan who just can't stand the direction of the game recently. The Hat sets, the invasion of UB into every aspect of the game, it's just not what he fell in love with. The poor guy is beaten down and disillusioned with the game. Then, a ray of sunshine through the clouds. A return to Lorwyn is announced. Finally, he is excited for a set. We're going back to a plane from when he was young and the 'magic' in Magic was strong. When he was enamoured with the world, and the creatures, and the lore. The art, the concept, the cards. The evocative 'old days' of Magic: The Gathering, from a more carefree time of his life before adulthood and the happenings of the world weighed so heavily on him. Finally, a set which will remind him of the good days, where he can play true MTG for a while and forget about spiderman, racecars, and cheerleaders. He heads to prerelease, eager to share his excitement with others. He opens his kit, ready to explore Lorwyn. And gets a fucking ninja turtle lmao
>>97386547"If you don't want to play with a set, just don't buy it">go to Lorwyn pre-release>Turtles cards ninjutsu their way into your promo pack
>>97386581>ninjutsuAnon...I....
>>97386547And the worst part is that the Turtle cards blow out everything Lorwyn does
>>97385624>Spider-man was an aftermath set upgraded to be a small set meaning the commons and uncommons were added only to facilitate draft.literally no source, ever regarding this claim
>>97386403>Orzhov casting cost>Blue activated abilityWotC must be pissed that people didn't want them to erase what little integrity commander still had. Can't wait to get recommended a bunch of Youtube videos of nuCommander people whinging and complaining about how they can't play this card in Dimir ninja decks in the same way they seethed about the fact that Sanar can't have every blue or red hybrid card in their commander deck.
>>97386592AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE
>>97385819Damn I m depressed. Not only Lorwyn Eclipse is boring and unimaginative and almost disrespectful to original Lorwyn/Shadowmoor but wotc also intentionally sabotaged its release.>>97385931>TMNT is hasbro in-house so you probably have a team and a bunch of consultants with better understanding of the IP.I bet those have even more understanding of the TMNT IP than wotc staff on mtg IP...
>need a card for a deck (artifact reanimator)>all the options available just aren't good enough or pull the deck away from its main objective>pic related gets leaked>it's perfect for the deckdamn what a coincidence
>>97386642why the FUCK is "Utrom" worth a creature type but we can't have homarids any more?
>>97386642You vill play UB and you will be happy.
>>97386655nobody is paying fat $$ for homarids
>>97386642WE WUZ KRANGS N SHIEET
nuLorwyn>they/them characters galore>forced af tribal synergies >convoke>affinity (????????????)>nuDoran looks like hes going through divorce and has that "the kind of tired sleep doesn’t fix" look>hogwarts drop outs aka new jacetice leagueset is being pre-released AS WE SPEAK and there’s already spoilers for Ninja turtles, yes those.>new ninjutsu, just like morph/manifest/supermorph(lmao)/and w/e the fuck the other one is called, we need YET AGAIN the same but different keyword ability >some sex changes had to happen>"best basics since the guru lands" reputable redditor claims!and to think after this is capeshit bonanza followed by the invasion of totally not insufferable trekkies.oh boy what a year!
>>97386642>The only reanimator deck in post-EOE standard is Superior Spider-man (UB)>Get really excited for Bloodline Bidding>Everyone online talking about it says "This card is shit, just run Superior Spider-Man if you wanna play reanimator."They said 20-set standard would allow us to be able to play with whatever cards we wanted, UB or not...
>>97386678Kinda funny how UW lovers treat Strixhaven, an UW set, as UB because they dont like the setting.
This is bad somehow?
>>97386655For all the Ultrom tribal in all the future sets!
>>97386691It's not as bad a Plane of Hats as some, but it's still a very Plane of Hats set compared to older sets. And much like a lot of other recent sets, it's very tame, very safe, nothing that might upset anyone. Everyone's nice, even the black (mana type) people.Magic is not the only thing to feel this sort of sanding down of the edges. I used to play FF14 online. The base game of that has three big city-states. One of them has only just outlawed piracy and they are still openly dealing with the problems of piracy, slavery, etc. Another runs on desert trader bastard backstabbing capitalism, "all fair business" as they shank you. The third is openly racist against dark elves. Meanwhile they just visited a Not!South America continent and the whole place is very "what a white girl from california would think the place is like before she arives on her gap year", kumbaya bullshit, nobody has any REAL problems with each other.I don't want media where everyone is an asshole all the time, but I want media where there ARE assholes, and not just like "he was rude to me on twitter" but actual assholes. I want my Genghis Khan ripoff to take slaves and harems. I want my pirates to be pirates, not Jace and the Neverland pirates.
>>97386693It doesn't seem great. The more lands you have down to discount it, the less lands you'll have to make tokens. Maybe some super heavy ramp deck could make use of it, but that would mean running less interaction and dying when you don't draw nursery. Plus it only gets discounted by forests so it's harder to run in multicolor, and mono green isn't exactly at its best right now.
>>97386691I just don't think "Harry Potter and some some American school tropes" is a rich enough concept to fill a good Magic set. And WoTC seems to agree with me because they did what they always do when they don't have enough ideas to make a set interesting: shove in multicolor factions. Plus they're already moving out of the school itself in the second set from what I understand.
>>97386693What gets me is that it doesn't also reduce cost for treefolk you control. Most of the treefolk cards in the set require black or white, so this will probably be 6+ mana most of the time, meaning you'll probably get through all your lands by the time you play it.>>97386755I think he's more referring to how people keep complaining about the word "affinity" making a cameo in these sets, even if it has nothing to do with artifacts.
>opponent at prerelease said he had to remind himself that he didn't need a commander for his sealed deck
>>97386808It's so fucking over.
>>97385704why does WotC constantly act like they're strapped for cash? Hasbro investors should initiate a review of executive compensation, i can't imagine the levels of fuckery that must go on
>>97386800>how people keep complaining about the word "affinity" making a cameo in these setsWell that's dumb, even the original affinity cards specified "affinity for artifacts", they always left room to use it for other stuff in the future. Not their fault that people just called the deck affinity.
>>97386808Friendly reminder they almost considered trying a different form of Companion for this set. Commander and limited are probably the only formats they put a significant amount of consideration into when designing these sets.
>>97385819Fuck that's depressing and true
>>97386827>why does WotC constantly act like they're strapped for cash?Because they are, or more accurately Hasbro is. It's no secret that WotC and mobile games are basically their only profitable ventures, so they get squeezed for every last cent to prop up shit like a GI Joe movie and a fucking Furby revival.
>>97386808i had to lok it up to make sure this was realhow do you ban Stone-Throwing Devils and then print this
>>97386834Even in affinity's debut block they had an "affinity for [basic land type]" card cycle at common.
well friends, its been fun shitposting with you. Just bought all the cards I needed from lorwyn for my commander decks for less than $5. See you in five weeks.Enjoy your 40/60 cards formats. cheers.
>>97386846>probably
>>97385623It's casting instead of an ability
>>97386547I would literally crumple up the turtle slop and Kobe it into the nearest trash can
>>97386864I forgot about that guy, yeah that just makes the complaint even dumber. Gotta be boomers going senile or zoomers larping as boomers.
>>97386854Idk but it's now my favorite modern card and an auto include in all my racism decks
>>97386547thank you for this made my morninggoddamn what a hellish prison planetoh wellhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=balitii8_Xg
>>97386618WotC and Mark Rosewater have all said this was the case. It started out as having 100 cards and according to them they changed it because they wanted to put more Spider-Man stuff in. Which is probably partially true, but the other reason is Aftermath sucked and everybody hates non-draftable small sets.
>tfw some of these TMNT cards actually look pretty goodhttps://youtu.be/qwBfGQJhDT8?si=wIJCFhw3ZIxQcC3P
>>97385822They put chemicals in the water that are making the freaking gators gay
Unironically I love TMNT!
>>97385931>TMNT is hasbro in-houseIt's not, it belongs to Nickelodeon
>guy riffle shuffles my deck last night when i hand it to him to cut
>>97387036Why?
>>97386619Sanar is utter trash anyways plus it makes you shuffle every turn. No one is going to play it
>>97387052What else belongs to Nick?
