>>97414217
>>97414222>>97414209I think posting long cyoas in full is bad in some cases but not others. For example it's bad if:* if it's a cyoa that was already posted in full very recently, like with Platinum Age which was reposted in every thread because people kept making builds for it - in that case linking just the album is good* if it's in the middle of more relevant ongoing things, disrupting from them - that's spamming in a literal sense* if it's an extremely low quality cyoa - high school anime is what i mean here of course* if there's already very many images in the thread so it pushes the thread to fast towards the image limit
>>97414217If it isn't spamming then what's the problem? Do you honestly think posting every page of a cyoa is going to garner positive engagement? Either people will interact with you when they see the first page or they won't.

>>97415343I mean they aren't all draconian but I can think of several minor circumstances where you could break the mandatory vows. For example it basically prohibits you from making money in any real capacity, so if you heal someone and ask for money in return, even if its a rich person, boom, fallen. There is no leeway for luxury or rewards, which I guess it's thematically fitting but you know, maybe a Paladin should occasionally live a decent life for a bit? Not having immortality didn't even bother me since the more I read the more my kind went to "ok I should probably die as soon as possible" with all the bs you have to deal with and there being no rewards of any kind. Also not taking companions gives you more power, and they're not bound to you in any way so why would you take any? And that's over half the cyoa, companions who you could've just allied with on your own.

Creations strengthen your SVOUL.NTA but I need help then.I'm making that noble CYOA (one where you need to marry in the beginning) and for the ease of use I want to assign each wife a color to highlight options that are associated/unlocked with them or their factions/houses. So the list is>Aloof Princess (the "it's just business" option from a powerful family with big army) [bright blue]>Spiteful Exile (anime villainess handed off to you as a punishment for her and to get her away from the royal court) [purple]>Attentive Bookkeeper (from a younger but very rich house) [orange]>Timid Heiress (from a very venerable but weakening house) [???]>Lively Daredevil (tomboy from a family that controls the most verdant and fertile lands) [???]>Captivating Dancer (brown exotic beauty from far away) [???]Kind of at a loss here for color association.Honestly speaking I might swap Lively Daredevil for Pious Damsel (noble house with heavy ties to state religion), both are so far my least favourite in terms of plot relevance and characterization, so if anyone has better ideas I'm perfectly willing to listen.Just to be clear, all of them are proper ladies of noble birth, monikers are just for, well, personality description.

OKAY. So I just beat Bloodborne (the only FromSoft I haven’t played until now) and I have to say it was TOO short. I expected more. A lot more. My suspicion is that it was (like ALL of his games) rushed due to Miyazaki’s greatest foe: DEADLINES. Despite this, I really do think it is his most aesthetic of the games. Underdone or no.I also find it weird how everything uses bullets in this world. Even the spells. This tells me Miyazaki didn’t think up a proper magic system in time. >>97416241the last what?
>>97416151>There is no indication that Willem knew any magicProvost Willem was originally meant to be a major boss in Bloodborne before they went another direction. The reasons likely being:1) The fight itself was bugged. They likely just scrapped it and moved on. Time constraints. Etc. 2) Having Willem be ann insane eyeball obsessed lunatic wouldn’t match well with his wise “told you so” nature. He’s meant to stand (sit) as a contrast or counter to Lawrence, the one who fucked Yharnam over. But then you learn in the dlc that he was literally massacring villages for their eyes/brains so idk 3) It’s poetic how both lost their minds in different ways; one favouring Insight, the other the Old Blood. Laurence became a mindless beast. Willem became a (or did he leave his body?) mindless vegetable. Here’s your proof anyhow:> https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ISHGRDJ2MOld fucker levitates his rocking chair like a weapon. His attacks were going to be invisible (high Insight needed), similar to how the Witch of Hemwick will lose her minions if you have 0 Insight. This is peak Miyazaki. Cutting content for reasons we can only guess at. >>97416161He’s not wrong. Willem and Micolash were originally the same character in the outline. This is why there’s such a scatter or fragmentation of academia across the game. The city is massive and had a split in academic thought, so it works. >>97416184That is exactly what happened. All the items in the game refer to Willem as though he were already deceased. He is already old when Laurence was young, as you can see in the flashback. The fungus on the back of Willem’s head and neck is based on the cordyceps fungus that takes over ants and other insects.
>>97416164Oaths > Corruption > ChallengesChallenge-style drawbacks are theoretically great but difficult to do well, they often diminish the value of the whole cyoa. One problem with challenge-style drawbacks is that you are often incentivized to pick either 0 or all of them, because each challenge feels like it could be tackled somewhat separately from the rest (unlike oaths and vulnerabilities that are on you permanently), while the boons you get for the drawbacks upgrade you permanently, and if you're permanently upgraded enough then each individual challenge become trivial. To Sleep Perchance To Dream (an icyoa, one of the best icyoas ever) had this problem for example.

Is it a dude since Dawn is a chick? Are its aspects "father", "brother", "son", "husband"? Is he less wholesome since the darkness is evil or whatever, and its "aspect of the racist/rapist/abuser/pimp"? Or is it a sexy dark skinned girl whos really slutty and tries to make (you) worse in the same way dawn tries to make you better?

Imagine if there was an actual legitimate casting system (instead of ‘Hunter Tools’ that make use of bullets for some reason) in Bloodborne, though? Like a legitimate starting occultist package. That would be cool. Oh well. Too bad. Inb4 “nooo Bloodborne is low magic nooo it isn’t like his other games nooo”. I mean. You’re right. But there’s still Dark Souls style spells being thrown your way in the game. The heights are the same. The road to learning them is simply a lot more ruinous. Bordering on the inhuman. You also have such ruinous fates in the world of Elden Ring, but magic in that is largely benign like it is in Dark Souls, until you discover the consciousness altering primeval current, or the yellow insanity of the frenzied flame, the formless mother, etc.
>>97416826Kinda early
>>97416886>That would be coolIt's not what the game is about.
>>97416788Actually I am doing something like thatThe CYOA has 3 different kinds of points you go on adventures to earn points and some special rewards then each kind of point has its own kind of drawbacks available and then the adventure starts.
>>97416898It actually is about that, you’re just placed into more of a specific situation compared to the other games. You’re dabbling in the eldritch like the other hunters.
>>97416898The entire game is about academics squabbling over eldritch truths. It is very weird that there wasn’t an occult system of its own, not just lumped in with silver bullets. I understand that the game is about hunting monsters, but the root of the monsters and the plague and indeed all the cosmic shit happening in Yharnam is sourced to the rotten fruits of academia within the region. It’s all sourced back to Byrgenwerth. Shame they didn’t have the time to finish that area. These games are filled with the telltale signs of rushed development, but despite that the game is still quite incredible, which is a testament to it.
>>97416914>It actually is about thatIt's actually isn't. Giving the player arcane stuff from the start is against the theme and the gameplay loop.
>>97416938Have spells build frenzy on the player.
>>97416938>It is very weird that there wasn’t an occult system of its ownIt's just literally the same spell system as DS1 and 2. Only in DS3 did they introduce mana and even then the core stayed the same until ER.

For all their love for the esoteric, From is really bad at making magic work. You can tell they only think in terms of fair, close quarters combat. This is why they always nerf (butcher) end game spells once the martial tards start complaining about PvP balance.
