>>97471490giant robots are cool but chaos knights is the one army that's literally a copypaste of imperial knights that just kinda isn't cool. Khytan and Lord of Skulls should be Knights datasheets. Throw in that Slaanesh Rapebot from Epic too.
>>97471506It is kind of stupid that an entire extra codex is wasted on chaos knights. Surely there's a more elegant solution to be found.
>>97471506Chaos Knights have always been goofy too me, I figured they were just too lazy to come up with equally massive units to counter the Imperial Knights lore wise but who knows.
Imperial Fist primaris intercessors
>>97471490blowing them up. Ive played against knights for three editions now, and depending on the points, the rules, and my army build, they’re actively bad pushovers that give me an easy win or a unbeatable completely unfair fight. they don’t interact well with the game.ive been taking my wraithknight to games against newer players as a handicap to my list I think they’re so bad
>>97471506Chaos Knights shouldn't be a codex — Dark Mechanicum should.
How do we retvrn to tradition?
>>97471458The 9th edition stuff they had and the 1d4chan article saying "they're the 1960s CIA but a chaos legion" sold me a lot, but they really do have nearly nothing going for them.
>>97471490>TQI love how easily they are to customize because of their size and how imposing they are on the table. Nothing quite meets the standards and grandness of the Imperium quite like Knights do.
>>97471548Even in 30K they're just the guys with the cool color scheme and sick scale armorSometimes that's all you need.

>>97471600No its just my favorite detractor latching onto me because he has no models or friends and this is his life.
>>97471490I like the codex houses. They're cool.
>>97471490>TQBecause "Daemon Possessed Giant Robots With Chainswords" is a sentence I love every single bit of.
>>97471570What's wrong, anon?
>>97471490Relatively easier to paint, you don't have to paint that many, and have a lot more kitbashy opportunities. How they play in the game and their large size aside, the models have all the fun parts of vehicles and some of the fun parts of infantry.I need to see my shelf space after I finish my 30k box and Kratos but if I can I'd like to make get a Tyrant.
>>97471616>House Herpes>primarily uses flamer weapons

The dark eldar should get a giant Talos but it has legs.Actually you know what would be a cool 'knight' kitbash? get some knight bits and some Giant bits from age of the old worldmar and make a giga-sized gro

anybody else pick up cpt titus yet ? how does he feel on tabletop and what units are you setting him to lead ?
>>97471490>TQI own a Chaos Knight army. I like the giant models. Magnetizing them was fun. Anyone who bitches about how they play in the game is a WAACfag that doesn’t see the sovl in Knights
>>97471716How many people actually play Ultramarines? Or is this just a matter of every Space Marine player plays as whatever chapter they feel like from game to game or chasing the meta?
>>97471716So much mold lines on those models it's unreal.
>>97471730You seem to have little idea of what your asking or how to ask it or even how the game works in general.
>>97471721WAAC fags are the least likely to actually have trouble playing into Knights. They're a skew army that's a notorious noob stomper. Would you ever play knights against someone in their first game ever where they were learning to play?
>>97471490Are Chaos knightesses in general blessed with magnificent melons or is that just a stereotype?
>>97471736No one cares about mold lines and no one can see them from play distance so who cares.

>>97471737Have you really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
>>97471730If you are asking if shit like Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Salamanders etc have healthy playerbases: Yes.Ultramarines are still a minority in the grand variety of infinite marine shit.
>>97471745I agree but in this case she didn't even do that so what gives?
>>97471752But people who don't paint their armies as ultramarine still buy ultramarine units though, right?
>>97471730not that many since they are the most boring vanilla choice....personally speaking im the only person i know irl that runs ultras and every other SM player ik is a divergent chapter. thankfully theres enough difference between the chapters that you cant really switch between them at a whim unless ur absurdly wealthy to keep buying all the chapter specific models (Calgar can only be run with ultramarines for example)
>playing Dota instead of painting models>getting stompedI immediately regret my decision
>>97471490I often wonder what the neighbors in /m/ and /toy/ think about the giant robot kits produced by Games Workshop for 40k, HH and AT.
>>97471681picrel. Unfortunately rocket launchers and HBolters are apparently shit on Havocs right now, So I'll just proxy them as Lascannon teams for actual play.
>>97471763no why the fuck would they? chapter specific models are locked to their faction
>>97471763I've never personally seen it. There's a decent chunk of players who run Ultramarines rules in tournaments because they have been getting a ridiculous amount of new models / rules this year but you don't buy Roboute Guilliman for your Blood Angels army. One thing that's kind of an issue is that running vanilla marines without any chapter unique rules from any source is kind of bad, but the dev team did recognize that and buff them, but that's hardly an Ultramarines unique issue. Ultramarines having some over powered releases doesn't affect the internal game army balance of all the other types of marines whatsoever because they can't use their units.
>>97471570kek
>>97471771/m/aggot hereIf you're a gunpla guy, GW bots are a pretty shit deal. With gunpla you're getting a fun thing to assemble with no glue or paint required, which you can then pose however you want and swap things out with ease.Let's not talk even about the price.I still love knights, but they don't scratch the mecha itch at all, they're their own appeal.

>>97472076This may sound counterproductive, but prime them white. That way you know the spots that you need to paint after you did the skin. So you wont miss out on parts of the mini because it got hidden. Also dont do pure black. Do a 2/3 black 1/3 dark blue mix.Or dark green if you want a green hue.

>>97472108Thanks, nigga.
Are any interesting pre-orders out tomorrow?
>>97471786Disagree. Ultramarines double dip. They have all their special characters, and now unique unit (victrix), have unique detachments, but still get access to Tier 2 Oath of Moment. The divergent chapters either lose the +1 to wound (BA, DA, SW) or lose oath entirely (BT).Standard units in divergent chapters are costed as if they have access to +1 to wound, and often don't work that well without it. Everyone else is paying the ultramarines tax. UM should lose Tier 2 oath if they take any UM specific units, the same way everyone else does.

>>97472217Drinking it is why he keeps going to the hospital
>>97472159>DisagreeWell you can be wrong. Blood Angels, Deathwatch, Salamanders, Raven Guard, Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Space Wolves have all had top 4 finishes in 50+ person tournaments in the last 2 months and that includes the ridiculously OP Vitrix Guard meta. You don't leave your house, so you look at all the Ultramarines ads and sloptuber videos whining about poor balance as whats actually happening on the table. Ultramarines are strong, but they are Ultramarines. Vitrix Guard doesn't go in non Ultramarines armies, and people are playing far more non Ultramarines marine armies than otherwise in 40k.
>>97469683As an avid Totalwarhammer player who ranks it on his top 5 game, defended the DLC price increase and actually like Totalwarhammer 3s start. It took the series until a year into Totalwarhammer 2 to become good. The first had so many basic things lacking it was unreal. So going by those standards it will take Totalwarhammer 40k a year and a half from launch to be decent
I just paid $120 for 2 boxes of 3 Deldar Reavers from a 3rd party seller. I want to die myself. My only source of comfort is knowing that I would’ve payed $60 more from any other seller. Unless I had been patient for another release of them which is God knows when.

>>97472622There was a supposed leak from several years ago (certainly before the Lion returned and maybe before Guilliman) that said Guilliman, the Lion, Russ, and Corvus would all return in that order
What are the main wishes from 10th to 11th rules wise?I know less rerolls is one of the main ones (which I feel will either get confirmed or deconfirmed based on if marines have oath of moment stay the same or not) Personally I hope for more thematic things like commissars being able to lead ogryns in grizzled company and being able to make lords/crypteks destroyers in cursed legion. Something like space marine sorcerers being able to lead daemon battleline I guess
>>97472658>leak from 10 years ago

>>97472658I can see that. I'm pretty sure Russ is next. SW are their own army with big following. They wouldn't need to stretch much to bring him back unlike Sanguinius. Russ will print them money.Corax, Vulcan, Khan and Dorn are whatever. Ferrus and Manus would require some work and bending the story, which will eventually happen, but not right now. Ok, maybe they can do something with Dorn, if they do some Imperial Fists / Black Templars thing that would unite them in one army with one codex or supplement.

>>97472678I would like unit enhancements not tied to characters. Something to make your regular dudes feel more elite without character bloat.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>97472699Yeah, from a meta perspective the order makes sense. In-lore Guilliman and the Lion were alive and their locations were known. All they needed to do was wake up. After those two low hanging fruit, Russ is the obvious next choice in that his chapter is super popular, bringing him back would make GW a lot of money, and there's no direct lore impediment to him returning, he just has to return from wherever he went. After that it gets interesting but Corvus is as good a next option as any considering a Sanguinius return would be the most difficult to navigate lore wise and would probably only ever be a "break glass in case of emergency" last ditch effort to squeeze the final possible bit of profit out of the setting
>>97471546We bring force org back. Getting rid of it was a massive mistake.

I love named characters. Every army should have 30 named character variants. For every 5 models you should have 10 heros in your list. For a center piece, it should be a hero that forces you to run 20 other heroes, 10 of whome are also named.

They should remove most of named characters. Regular characters should be customizable enough to make them into named characters with some ideas from GW, like a page or two in codex with some sample builds "If you want Titus, pick this, this and that."

>>97472678Keyword-based army construction. You start with a set number of CHARACTER slots. Different armies could have different numbers of these slots based on how that army functions. The CHARACTER keyword becomes CHARACTER (X) where X is the number of BATTLELINE units you are now allowed to take. The BATTLELINE keyword becomes BATTLELINE (X) where X is the number of SUPPORT units you may now include. SUPPORT units are everything else that is neither CHARACTER nor BATTLELINE. The numbers could all be adjusted to suit different factions' army compositions. Detachments could also adjust these numbers.

>>97473070I have a Defiler, Soul Grinder, and Plague Hulk. I'm content, and welcome the new one. Not a huge fan of the Raptors kit per se, but it had some good bits in it that aren't in the new one (biggest example being the Warp Talon claws that are mutant bone spikes coming out of power fists).
>>97471716He's weirdly annoying on the tabletop because if you kill him in melee, he says "NU UH" and fights back, and if he kills even a single model, he heals instead of dies. There's ways to counter this, but he is an annoying threat that doesn't stay dead. Touch a rhino or something with him and his friends, and that rhino will never move again.
>>97473040Looks good to me. >>97473384but the tabletop tells you nothing of the setting at all, like oh the great battle of the 2,000 points of ultramarines vs 2,000 points of orks was won when a squad of intercessors pushed the orks off a primary in turn 5, what a legendary tale
>>97473399Which is why lore discussion belongs on /lit/, and would be primary there, and game discussion belongs here, and is primary here.
>>97472399Progressing the storyThe whole reason 40k is the way it is stems from justifying the way people can play a match of two space marine chapters fighting each other like it's Badab all over again. Progressing the story like Guilliman somehow getting the imperium running properly without any problem would make the in-fighting of imperium factions nonsensical [No, Alpha Legion is not a good excuse even if it's funny] and the same goes for most factionsSo for as much as an Ork player would LOVE to have a waagh of all Ork clans uniting under one banner that makes The beast look like a grot, Orks infighting is their whole schtick.Shit like this is how 40k gets hit with The End Times. None of you want 40k end times.

>40k is a refutation of the themes of WFB. It's central thesis is that tolerance and empathy are delusions. Differences between races are inconsolable. If two people are different, they will hate each other on a genetic level and desire the destruction of the other more than their own survival. Only by purging yourself of the weakness of empathy and filling your heart with spite and fanaticism can you achieve victory.>The second thesis is that life is the greatest mistake the universe ever made. We are born to suffer (why all souls in 40k go to hell) and it would have been better had life never emerged to begin with. Life itself is inherently evil (why hell even exists is because life created it).So we're just a Warhammer Fantasy shitpost in the end?

>the prices on those chaos battleforcesgoddamn nevermind then. Might as well buy the kits separately later without the FOMO
>>97475360When is the warhammer community on Reddit and bluesky and xitter going to try to use their usual politics and talking points to try and influence gw to lower the prices of their models? Games Workshop probably won’t listen but it would be funny to see.I remember the faces of warhammer thing being talked about. All it did was validate the stereotype of women always inserting their face into something when they photograph specific unrelated things.
>>97475380Um sorry poor brown people You Will Not Be Missed
>>97475382I know you’re joking but those kinds of warhammer fans might say that’s what games workshop is saying with their prices.
>>97475431I mean, it technically it isn't wrong.Like do you think some average dude in the Congo republic can afford this shit? No.
>>97475380Those people would have to actually care about Warhammer beyond being a battlefield for their culture war to understand that it's too expensive.
>>97475439Fair enough.>butI somehow remember a news headline about an lgs being robbed for Pokémon cards and I’m wondering why this hasn’t happened to a Warhammer store yet due to how much people will pay for the models.Maybe the type of idiots that steal probably aren’t aware of Warhammer yet and will start seeing dollar signs soon.I had this thought because a certain YouTuber who presents himself as an African warlord made up an origin story of being a Congo lad and did a trade involving his rifle only to get robbed at gunpoint by his own rifle. His name also derives from 40k stuff too.
>>97475476a pokemon card is the size of a credit card and weighs nothing yet can be worth thousands of dollars. a thief could easily stuff a tonne of them into a backpack even if they're slabbed or in binderswarhammer boxes are big and heavier and cap out in value at $300~
>>97475476pokemon cards sell for a lot more than warhammer kits, are distributed via gambling, have a larger consumerbase decades old with a history of collectible speculation. not to mention cards have an ideal state of being mint and model kits are the opposite
>>97475476Stealing packets of cards is very easy, they quite literally fit into your pocket. Most warhammer model kits are pretty large, you basically need at least a backpack. And good luck trying to be sneaky about shoving model kits backpack in a cramped GW store. Also the fact is just that 40k is still VERY niche as a product and setting. Not many people know about it, or if they do, they just don't care about it.Pokemon cards on the other hand has a massive market because practically most people have had pokemon cards or liked pokemon at some point. Like even I have some pokemon cards from my childhood, I don't remember where I got most of them and I don't even play the TCG.
>>97475502>>97475511Thanks lads.I have seen Lego scalpers so I feel it is only a matter of time before they come for Warhammer. If they haven’t yet.
>>97475533lol, the scalpers have been here for a very long time now already.Theft and scalping are a little bit different.
>>97475533That shit is here, but it's not anywhere near as bad as what Pokemon TCG players and AFOLs are plagued with.
>>97475537I must have forgotten but I guess they aren’t at the level of Pokémon or MTG scalpers.>>97475544I can already see whole official warhammer stores having nerds camping outside to essentially empty the place. You think GW would actually tackle the scalping problems like when plastic Krieg happened in their kill team incarnation or embrace the scalper money?
>discount is so bad box is borderline unscalpable
When GW make a kit it's usually in production for years if not decades, so not the same as card games that change to print new sets every few months. FOMO boxes are discount bundles or early releases of things that will eventually be available on their own, used as bait to shift unpopular items. Scalping may become more of a thing because GW are deliberately trying to reduce their inventory levels (see their latest financial report) making producing more than enough for everyone undesirable. Warehousing and transport costs the company more than manufacturing, despite the fact that they do it all in the UK rather than outsourcing to sweatshops, so it makes sense that they want to avoid flooding their shelves.
>>97475582Yeah, scalping gets really bad on ranges and boxes with exclusive models they don't produce a lot of. Like Lady Malys is still selling for $90+ on the secondary market.
>>97475328>Each Terminator is a 1 man army >This lets them literally be 1 man armiesHoly kino sovl.
>>97475562>they aren’t at the level of Pokémon or MTG scalpersThey are thoughbeit, you just have to pay attention to second hand markets. They are why GW boxes have had supply issues for the last 5-10 years, there's a bunch of fuckheads trying to make a living out of buying up bundle boxes and reselling individual squads for crazy prices. Here in Aus it's been a huge point of contention in the community.
>>97471904>This bitch againI knew you were a cunt. Post your lamenters again and have another melty, faggot.
>>97475607Remember when the Lion was going fur like 300-400 dollars some places when the little box set with three basic blade guards came out? That was pretty wild. I know a guy who actually paid the scalper prices for one too. Lifelong Dark Angels Deathwing player. Said he'd been waiting twenty years for the Lion to come back and he wasn't going to wait any longer.
>>97475155Lions of the Emperor or Talons of the Emperor currently, the former being best for Wardens, bikes and Terminators and the latter acquiring a renaissance thanks to Guards and Land Raiders being so cheap now.
>>97475284Thanks for the inspo
>>97475633Somehow I have been ignorant or deliberately forgot about all of it and made myself innocent again, sorry.>Australia I’m sorry about your price hike suffering. Here this might cheer you up or lessen the pain a little:https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-sgt-bazza-barry-free-download-408525>t. >>97475328The trap with this stratagem is thinking>wow! I'll run a full 6 man allarus termis and an allarus shield captain before splitting them up!Except if you do that, you now have 7 distinct units very close to one another (they can only move 5 inches) and thus losing their godlike detachment rules where each unit need to be more than 6 inches away from one another. So just use a 3 man (with or without a shield captain) allarus unit. Its enough to hold obj and be a nuisance.
does anyone have that gif of the psyker from the astartes video but instead of the regular face it's the uoooh emoji?
surprisingly none of the chaos battleforces sold out yetAt most I was expecting the DG box to get snatched upExpecting the World Eaters box to end up rotting on FLGS store shelves like the imperial agents battleforces
>>97475726>>97475726>>97475726
>>97475716If there's a single unit in the box you don't want the value is already shit and there's not even an exclusive model to FOMO trick you with so I'm not surprised
>>97475733truly I'd just buy some units of poxwalkers myself if I really wanted them that badlyPutting the Felthius LoC in the box alone wrecks its chances so hard
