Say you're going on an adventure with a beastly companion. Think Amaterasu from Ōkami or Wolf Link. What kind of beast appeals the most?

Top left: Basically just a normal wolf, or tiger, or whatever. Not fantastical at all and pretty boring...but easy to relate to? Easy to slot into the already-existing "beast companion" dynamic?
Top right: A little more fantastical but still normal-ish
Bottom left: Weird. But interesting? Fresh and new, but hard to imagine in that Wolf Link/Amaterasu role?

Part of the difficulty is finding pictures of interesting and fresh fantasy monster characters. Most fanart for most series is focused on the humans. Monster Hunter (which is where all 4 of those characters are coincidentally from) is one of the only series besides, say, Pokemon that has a good variety of fanart of non-humanoids

What's even left then? Reptiles and birds? Bugs? I would really like some cool snake or strange bug actually but as long as they are a cool enough variation I don't mind a more classic animal. Besides the fact they're less evident in general (ex: we've been fed "post-apocalyptic trek with doggy" for decades), it's also a problem of mobility for some. The horse? The dog/wolf? Yeah, they'd escape. The cat is fine, too. Something without legs or short ones or just slow like a turtle might not make it, and those kinds of situations are common for adventures.

Well yeah, in most cases it would assume that there's some kind of magic, extenuating circumstances, or just suspension of disbelief involved, but there are other domestic animals that could fill the same roles in a pinch too if you want to stick to those for realism. The pay is crap, ofcourse, but the perks go a long way in making it worthwhile. The goal with them and the co-workers is to try and provide as much protection and comfort as possible. Considering switching out Elijah (afraid his plans will get me killed) for Miguel, Maria or Sophie. False Wizardry is pretty comfy if you get both all the perks for it and the territory bonus since you have a whole 2 minds dedicated to advancing it for you. But the real ultimate comfy is a combination of the Comfort Upgrade, the Stellar Pacts Territory bonus, False Wizardry capstone power with maxed Stellar Pacts and a bit of Divine Trascendence to make gathering pacts easier. Use Metamagic on the Comfort upgrade and the Pacts territory bonus to ramp them up, make some pacts in your moon to get a good baseline of energy and powers, then just fuck off into your unbreachable and completely customizable personal world. Optionally take some of the companions with you to help, Forgotten Tower is made for the worldbuilding and Lonely Goddess is also a good choice.

Hmm... this was the least developed of the ideas I've had, but in some ways, also the least difficult to tackle. I think you'll have a choice of a few busted abilities, then a more modular set of techniques to augment or influence your choice. The rest of that will be lore, the various dangers you are up against, and your own choice of how to approach the world you're in. Probably a few rumours filling the same niche as quests usually do, and a mystery box for what rewards pursuing them will get, maybe. The world itself won't be generic, I do have a vaguely solid idea of a bizarre dreamscape that's been beaten into submission by an alien industrial empire that is now crumbling, but the specifics on that remain to be seen.

The original founders will most likely be elves or something similar- at the height of civility and grace yet blind to their own shortcomings. I'm pretty enthusiastic for the idea, and feel galvanized now that chance has set me on a specific path and thereby excised the indecision. I can't make any promises aside from that this will release, but I like to engage with anons. For the record, I do agree the first version of Icescape was far better, formatting-wise. I wasn't sure how else to increase the font-size without disrupting the structure I was going for. As is, I don't see any consistency. Holdfast was nowhere near finished when the author disappeared, yet it's rated as "god tier". Tok might be toxic as hell, but Nemesis practically pioneered the pvp genre (and would we have Isekai Bounty Hunter without it?) Stardust was (arguably) the first "true" cyoa", but it's lower than Small Town Hero (which is decent, but not ScottishAnon's best work). Lavender is an interesting concept, but little more than a character builder...

We used to have our cyoa archive on mega.nz, which is why AllsyncAnon is sometimes called MegaMan. We were there for years, until parties unknown started reporting the archive to mega.nz for copyright infringement. And rather than investigate, the company just deleted the whole thing.

There was no proof that Tok was involved, but he and AllsyncAnon/MegaMan were (coincidentally?) in the middle of an argument over archiving Tok's CYOAs. Tok was also going through a particularly toxic phase at the time, so once he was accused of it, there were a lot of people ready to believe the worst.

For example, one that I started working on was a vampire murder mystery. (You) would wake up as a newly turned vampire, with no idea what happened, and the choices (you) made would retroactively determine who made (you) into one. Ultimayely, I got stuck on vampire houses/factions (you) could join and werewolf flunkies (you) could recruit.

I think I really want to make my beast companion some kind of lion/tiger/other big cat, which Monster Hunter unfortunately doesn't have, I think. On the table right now are Dromarch from Xenoblade (unfortunately doesn't have much art on his own or even art where I can viably crop out the other characters), the Winged Lion from Dungeon Meshi (not a lot of art on his own and in a normal quadrupedal beast-looking form...), and Derpy from K-pop Demon Hunters (...surprisingly actually fits well, with a good mix of being fluffy and friend-shaped but also looking somewhat intimidating and combat-capable. Still not that many good images, but more than the other two)

Anyone have any other fictional lions/tigers/etc to throw in? Preferably with some sort of standout physical feature, while still having a mostly-grounded design

Granted yes this ignores stuff like religion and going to heaven and all that but we have no knowledge of such things so we cant use it as a measure of them also alot of sed religions technically have you just not die just change into something else like a spirit or a buddha or smth idk
