I think it's a cool model on it's own, it's just not a defiler. It's very Quake 4 or Doom 3. But it definitely needed longer arms than it had been given, they're rather stubby and it doesn't look great. I like that's there's a fair amount of customisation for it, that's always good.

I got those Bladeguard like a week ago, alongside other marines of this guy. 3d printing is kitbasher's paradise. Granted that's proxy and not a scan, but I got scanned Vespid kit. And it comes with additional heads, including old style helmet. Every body also was reworked to come in 3 versions, basic naked, armored and a leader one. By mirroring them you further double amount of those bodies. Weapons and hands were readjusted so every gun can be equipped on every body. 3d printed kits are more modular than what GW is doing.I do agree that for me, currently, GW should actually focus on modularity to compete with 3d printing. The one advantage plastic has over resin is that it's more pleasant to work with and convert. And I find printing small bits annoying in general. Super modular plastic kits with a lot of options would be tempting. Plastic monopose and characters at that just sound utterly retarded to me.

Skitarii and GSC Neophytes both lack the torso/leg flexibility (each torso goes on one set of legs, with a few exceptions) due to their sculpts (especially skitarii, since their robes have to fit against their legs) but their arms mount flat to the shoulders, allowing any pair of arms (or any two indicidual arms that aren't 2-handing a gun) to be put on any torso, and their heads are ball sockets like space marines.The main difference is that the hand holding the trigger end of the gun is connected to the arm on the sprue, meaning gluing the arms to one another is simpler with only 2 parts, so you can dry fit then at the shoulder while gluing the arms together, then remove them as a single arm assembly and paint both the arms and the details of the model's chest before gluing them on at the shoulder. For a rubric marine, you have to glue 2 different places (both wrists) while holding the arms in place at the shoulder to achieve the same effect, and I personally find that any situation where I'm holding multiple freshly glued connection points in place is a recipe for me to push too hard from one side and make a mess. So it allows for the same flexibility of "mix these arms with this torso for less repetition" with slightly easier assembly. I hope that explanation makes sense. It's not a huge thing, just something I've observed in different generations of kits. Rubrics are right in that nearly optimal zone. I only wish their arm poses were less boring and more varied, which is one of the things I think follows naturally from the adherence to 3-piece arms.
