>>97557178>TQ Based on the amount of models posted in this general, the answer is nothing at all
>>97557228I couldn't even like half the models posted in the last thread because it was so many that the system threw it away as spam lmao. If you're going to shitpost choose an angle that can't be disproven in 10 seconds.
Id post my beastmen but I havnt made any meaningful progress since I last did due to work being insane.Got some MTO metal beastmen Chieftains in the mail off a facebook swap group so keen for that
>>97557254And yet you didn't post your models... Curious
>>97557330I’m just here to call you out on your bullshit perrynigger. I already know you have 0 models. And have never played fantasy.
>>97557376ntayrt but it's a bit silly to accuse him of being perrynigger and then say he doesn't have any models, when we have seen perrynigger post an ass load of models, and part of his Infamy came from posting a shit ton of painted models that didn't belong itt
>>97557393No shit Perry. No one cares about your alleged historicals. You’ve never posted a single fantasy model. Because you don’t play and have never played fantasy. Your wife is out with her boyfriend because it’s V day so you’re here shitposting the last two days because you’re upset.
Ive never played the game but i like the idea of having a troll army, is that possible to do? How many trolls does one need to field an army in a standard points game?
>>97557468Yes, in the orc and goblin arcane journal one of the two unique lists is called “ Troll Horde “ which as you can guess is all about buffing and running many Trolls. You can take a look at the actual point values if you follow the links in the OP and look through the orc and goblin book
Hello /wfg/, I am in need of your assistance. I got my hands on a bunch of books today including this copy of WFRP, and I have some questions about it. Is this WFRP1e? The cover art seems to match, but the trademark year in the book is 1995. Didn't WFRP originally come out in the '80s? Is this a re-print of 1e? Is it even 1e? Your help is appreciated.
>>97557650yes but 1e lasted until the 2000s You have a hogshead reprint of the core rulebook, which took over writing WFRP book after GW gave up on the system, and they ended up writing books like the Marianburg City splat and adventures like The Dying of the Light. So your core rulebook copy should be the same as the 1986 version of the rulebook
>>97557666Ah, hell yeah. Thank you, Satan, that was very informative! I'm looking forward to running something with this book, then! Maybe I'll get to find the Realm of Chaos books one day and really get down to business. Thank you again, anon!
>>97557678GW sell Realm of Chaos reprints, but you have to go to Warhammer World in Nottingham to buy them

Hi, I'm looking to build a nurgle army for the old world, i have the warriors and knights of chaos started set and the New Marauders box, Waht could i Add to make it look more nurgle Army? also, what colors do you recommend for painting the miniatures in the typical nurgle color? i had death guard green, but it dried out, and i'll have to buy more. i saw that the colors have changed. thank you!
Saw this post in another thread and it got me thinking, how true do you think it is? I have only ever played "GW" games, mostly AoS and recently started with some TOW, played a little 40k back in the 9th ed. days. so I can't really speak on other "wargames." Is this really some merit to this comment or is it just another case of "WDS"., Warhammer Derangement Syndrome
Alright fellas I think I've cooked up something real nice that can actually make use of Dark Magic.take a daemon prince, give him wings, a 4th level of wizardry, heavy armour, the rod of the damned, the tome of the dark gods, a spell familiar, and two favours of the gods. He'll be rolling five spells on Dark Magic, can discard the shit ones (of which there are many) for Blue Fire, Fleshy Abundance, and even Acquiescence if you like living dangerously, is guaranteed three magic missiles (Doombolt, The Summoning, and The Blue Fire of Tzeentch), has a 5/6 chance to have Infernal Gateway (essentially giving him another 12" of threat range and essentially unparalleled mobility), can buff one of your units with Battle Lust (Frenzy + Hatred), can debuff/impede an enemy unit with Word of Pain/Phantasmagoria, and he'll be good in combat thanks to being a daemon prince, Dark Magic having 2 assailment spells, and having 2 re-rolls on the eye of the gods table. Is this meta? No! Is it probably the most fun way to run a level 4 wizard as chaos? Almost certainly yes!
>>97558117It's correct to an extent because GW have been pushing to standardize and gamify their flagship games over the years. For example, 40k 10th ed is very simplified compared to what came before, for balance reasons and to bring in new players. They've also fostered a culture of pick up and play games similar to card games like MTG. Basically you show up to your local game store or Games Workshop store with your army and then you play against somebody there. Historical wargaming isn't like that. Usually the objective is to reenact a real-life historical battle or a battle that could have occurred. There's no obsession with terrain being balanced or either sides being equally matched so one player will usually be the underdog. Furthermore, historical players play in clubs, with their friends or at conventions, with lots of prep going into it. Conventions are a big thing for historical wargamers because it's often one of the only times of the year they actually get to play on those massive tables. There are tournaments but there's no tournament culture like 40k has. Some places will host newbie nights where people who haven't played before can try out games, but there are so few stores that sell historical stuff now. 40k has basically devoured the market just like DND has for TTRPG's. However, if 40k and DND didn't exist, wargaming and TTRPG's would be quite barren, as casual players of those systems will eventually trickle down into alternatives, like Pathfinder in the case of DND, or OSR stuff. Still, the guy in the image you posted isn't 100% correct however because there is a subset of 40k players that only bother with more simulationist and scenario-based play, like a bunch of Horus Heresy players and Necromunda guys.
>>97558117>people have never played actual historical wargames like flames of war
>>97558315Flames of War isnt an actual historical wargame and it's player base entirely consists of 40k players
>>97558368Its an actual historical wargame, meaning "it is a historical wargame, rather than a reenactment club with a population of 12 dudes".
>>97558373>population of 12 dudesIs this supposed to be a dig? I don't know any person who wouldn't prefer a close knit club with a few dedicated enthusiasts over a game store with dozens of randos with half painted armies
>>97558418>Is this supposed to be a dig?It is a description. Games that people actually play are played like games, meaning people express strategy and skill and do things to win (which is the point of a game).Games which serve as historical reenactment attract a different sort of audience, and they instead seek to replicate the results of whatever battle they like instead, and obviously you arent going to have anyone try anything lest it veer from the approved historical record.
>>97558373>>97558418That's why Warhammer is tournament/pickup game focused and historicals aren't. Warhammer is played by the unwashed masses who are not welcome in wargaming clubs or polite society, so they have to rely on tournaments and pickup games with the other LGS freaks. How would these guys ever contribute to a 12x8 foot massive realistic battlefield wargame when they can't even bother to paint the two dozen models in their 40k army ?
>>97558450>That's why Warhammer is tournament/pickup game focused and historicals aren't.Yes, because people actually play it. Its not something closer to watching someones train-set they built. Meaning there is an active gameplay element which serves as a large part of the point. This isnt to say theres something wrong with model trains, its a perfectly fine hobby and theres some level of craftsmanship involved (and a whole lot of effort/attention to detail), but it is what it is.
>>97558156>and he'll be good in combat thanks to being a daemon princeYou would think so, but no. With only Ap-1 and unstable Dps are of finite combat use. If you want him as a pure blaster? Could work. But otherwise I think you need the dagger of the dark pantheon or some other magical weapon, to give him the Ap he needs to actually make use of that S6 (plus the dagger helps fuel dispells and casting).
>>97558440>>97558440>>97558458>they instead seek to replicate the results of whatever battle they like instead, and obviously you arent going to have anyone try anything lest it veer from the approved historical recordIt's always funny when I see this posted, invariably by some Warhammer drone. Tell me you have never played a /hwg/ game in your life without saying it. Sure 'some' historical gamers will set out to replicate a specific scenario from history, but literally no one sets out to replicate a specific result, if they did it wouldn't be a game. People who play specific scenarios or battle love to see how they can make the battle play out differently than a historical commander did, or what ''could' have happened. Literally no one "reenacts" battles on the tabletop, if there did there would be no need for rules and dice rolling, they would just slide the troops across the table in a prearranged order until the set conclusion was reached ~ no need for rules, or even an opponent in this case. It's not tabletop war reenacting, it's tabletop war gaming. As usual, it seems like a lot of criticism and opinions regarding things come from a complete lack of understanding or familiarity. Your idea of what historical wargaming is comes from a notion which is completely made up in your head and not based in reality.Ask yourself this, anon: why do historical games have dice rolling mechanics if the result is supposedly already established?
What was the source of the rumor about a new starter set?
>>97558498I made it up
>>97558496>t's tabletop war gaming. Some of it is, like flames of war. Some of it isnt.

>>97558536It's shaping up beautifully. Keep us updated.
The Druchii are gonna come home.
>>97558587ogres are still more likely. that one dark elf faction in aos still has a majority of the kits, it wouldnt surprise me if GW just removes the ktis from their shop altogether just to spite their fanbase for a year or two of the corsairs, dread spears, etc and other stuff to upcharge it later.
>>97558604I know it seems like it's half the kits in the dark elf range but it's literally only 2 kits. Dual kit infantry and then the shrine makes like 100 different things
>>97558587Fuck the druchi, when the fuck is kislev coming?
>>97558642The horses, the shrine, the witches...wow yeah its not much.
>>97558478I had considered the dagger of the dark pantheon, but taking it would mean sacrificing the spell familiar, the 2x favour of the gods, and either the tome of the dark gods or the rod of the damned. I don't think that's worth it in exchange for a +1 to cast that I might not even get to take advantage of. If AP-2 is so important, wouldn't the biting blade be a good idea? AP-2 for 15 points would only require me to give up on the spell familiar. I'll have to experiment with both setups. I think playing him as purely a caster is safer and might be better overall, but I like the idea of my daemon prince being able to both cast and fight. They really did do DPs dirty in TOW, they just kinda suck unless you run them in one or two specific ways. I wonder why.
>>97558662Forgot the cav because they always felt kinda tacked on to DoK. But yeah, only 3 kits.
>>97558536There we go, now its based. 60x90?
>>97558649>Fuck the druchiI really want to but they'd hurt me.
>>97558004What are you using for that red/blue background? Looks incredibly atmospheric >>97558117Most of the contemporary GW player base treats wargames as something like LoL or CSgo; equal playing field, symmetrical armies and terrain setup, capture-the-objective gameplay and a competitive focus, the game is less about complex scenarios and emergent narrative and more about fighting for the sake of it. So yeah, that post is pretty accurate for the most part.As an additional point, historical gamers tend to care more about accurate terrain and fully painted armies Vs GW players with their bare MDF ruins and 3-colour minimum armies.

>played whrp1e as my first RPG with an older grog uncle as a kid>read the army books over the years, but didn't dip into the novels for whatever reason>now I get a chance to GM a 4e game I need advice on one thing, since I might gotten this skewed due to how my uncle GMed: how much shit should take and be able to talk in the Empire and other regions, on average? Overall the Empire and Dwarven Holds have friendly relations but hoh much an Imperial dwarf will be treated well and how much can he get away with? Should the average elf visiting the Empire be it from the island or the forest expect hostiliy or at least some sort of xenophobia when travelling the country? I know halflings have a partially earned opinion on being short smelly kleptomaniacs but most people put up with them up to a point.
>>97559124The fact that it ever worked is the problem. An even bigger issue than that being allowed in the rules, is the fact the the player base is eagerly WILLING to exploit stupid oversights like this, despite it being extremely implausible and ridiculous
>>97559708There is one bit of the SG, particularly BB, I appreciate: Little to no exploitation if rules. It has its own design issues but rules lawyering aint one.
Does anyone have any methods or rules of thumb in-order to make some basic human NPC templates for WFRP 2e?
>>97559708The playerbase wasn't willing to exploit it. Competitive players are not the majority, nor even a significant portion, of the playerbase.
>>97559708Sound like a (you) problem. In my club this sort of rule lawyers is ridiculed and chased out.

>>97559842chaos soup journal sounds dope.the starter set i don’t understand. tk and welves are not the most popular factions it seems like a weird choice no?
>>97557524So why wouldn't they just chop her head off and carry that around instead? Same effect, far less hassle.
>>97559916you don't get it, if the vitruvian man is the ultimate exaltation of the human form, then hanging upside down a woman like that is its ultimate desecration!
>>97559886>tk and welves are not the most popular factions it seems like a weird choice no?I think/hope that's why they would do it. Since the game is still in flux and we don't have the solidified player bases of other games, they're trying to take the two least popular armies and really push them. Get those player bases built up for the future
>>97558217Yeah, I think your point of the “gameification” of 40k and AoS is where this behavior comes from, or maybe that behavior is what caused it. I think then those players branch out to games like TOW, or other more narrative-driven games, then shit up the genepool by being WAAC.Really the best solution that most people gloss over is just communicating with an opponent. I get there are some real faggots out there, but they’re pretty easy to single out.
>>97558498Tomb Kings vs Wood Elves, only info that was given
>>97559886Tomb Kings are fairly popular in TOW. Wood Elves I think would be extremely popular, just their reliance on expensive metal/resin kits is probably a turn off for new players.
I LOVE WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLEPLAY SECOND EDITION
speaking of WFRP, I know basically nothing about it, are 2e books compatible with 1e? If I wanted to run a chaos game, should I just use the RoC books or would the tome of corruption work?

>>97560242>whoever did this artworkAdrian Smith?
Had a 1000p game against ogers, we rolled for a scenario and got open battle. My opponent got first turn, but in the first round he and I only moved stuff forward. After he moved stuff closer on his 2nd turn I managed to get off two charges one with my beastlord + bestigor unit and one with my bray shaman and gor unit.My beastlord and his dudes wrecked the Ironguts while my Gors fared poorly against his regular Ogers. His maneaters got into combat with my Ungors and got them on the run after a few turns. My Razorgor also managed to hold his Gorger for 3 turns until my Minotaurs came out of ambush to finish it off.The game ended on turn 5 after the Ogre Bulls ran over my fleeing units of Gors, but not after on the last turn I managed to do an 11 inch charge with my beastlord and his bestigors to finish the Ogers off, leaving me with a pyrrhic victory, the scores being fairly close in the end.So all in all a fun game with a narrow Beastmen victory, I will probably write some fun narrative piece about the battle as well.>>97560232Good lookin goats my dude.
>>97560280My army/the units I used in the battle
>>97560069Is WFRP or OSRs better for dungeon crawling?
>>97560300probably an OSR system(Warlock maybe) since WFRP lacks proper healing, which is just long resting
>>97560300To me, WFRP lends itself better to big city adventures. Running criss and cross town to stop some doomsday and uncovering conspiracy. The crawl is then making it to week's end and the trap is Imperial city life, with its debts and violence and piss. OSR is better tooled for it.
>>97560300My only experience with the OSR is running a B/X game for my university, and it was good fun! Highly recommend it, especially if your players are inexperienced. I can't really speak about wfrp, but I do think you should give B/X a shot. It was designed for dungeons from the ground up, after all. However, a system is what you make of it, so go nuts and run whatever you want as whatever you want.
>>97560289>>97560280Nice army! Spoiled by the horrendous battlefield and terrain

>>97560289It's been said before, but I fuckin' love that pig, anon. He's giving everyone the stink eye and that's what I appreciate about him. Also, that metal shaman is wonderful, you did an excellent job.
>>97557178>TQChariot, two days ago I prepared pins and so on, and now I've barely started painting.
>>97560575I thought about it, and tried to justify taking Arrer Boyz, but choppa tax and t4 cost, amounting to being about twice the cost of a goblin, which shoots just as well, makes him a unit that's paying too much for things he probably won't use.I hate to say it, but Arrer Boyz are a needless points sink.I thought about their utility in the most generous terms possible; for instance, as siege defenders in a scenario, but then realized that the choppa tax is even worse then; in an open field they might get a chance to counter-charge, but not when shooting from a wall.Overall, by my reckoning, in optimal circumstances, Orc Arrer Boys are still over costed for their effect.
>>97560641Thanks Anon, glad you like the minis I paint.
>>97560649They operate on a very different use case than most ranged units. You want them in the center of the table to act as a Fuck you Come get me. And since they're still orcs they can survive fighting light infantry fairly well. And since they can be skirmish they have basically 2/3 of the table coverage, especially from a hill top. Goblins don't do that.
>>97560649>>97560380Giving regular boyz with shields bows is literally free so you might as well if you're giving them no other weapons.

>>97559916>Same effectNot really? Obviously a mutilated woman has more of an impact than "a head", its a bigger and more graphic display of power and cruelty. The written adventures linked in the OP mega might be of some help, and at least in 4e they do draw a line between prejudice (just being a general dick, upcharging you, etc) and hatred (will try to get in fights and/or kill you) as two separate psychologies and views for people to have.

>>97560310>>97560314>>97560351My plan is to do some sessions in an OSR for venturing out into the wilderness and dungeons, maybe DCC (which I know is only half OSR but whatever). I will check out Warlock. For the other half of sessions involving investigations, diplomacy or "drama" between characters I am thinking of patching bits from Blades in the Dark and WFRP but not certain yet
>>97562276DCC is super fun, I ran it over two semesters with two completely different groups of players and they all loved it. This thread isn't the right place to discuss it, but I whole-heartedly recommend giving DCC a try. It's not really OSR, and definitely don't post about it in /osrg/, they'll eat your soul for that, but that doesn't mean it's not a great game.
What’s easier - cutting plasticard or just greenstuffing cobblestone bases? I’ve been doing it the plasticard way, and man is that stuff tough. I just cut it out to lines, crack it off and then brutalize my finger shaving its edges. There must be an easier way.
>>97562276WFRP4e has decent wilderness rules now with Deft Steps Light Fingers book C7 released, the problem the system has is being rather bad at Dungoen crawling imo
>>97562295Thanks, I will bring it back to topic by mentioning the setting, I want it to be Estalian press-ganged sailors sent off to the colonies. Weird islands and trade cities
>>97562276Plundered Vaults and Karak Azgal (both for 2e) have some good dungeons. Castle Wittgenstein from Enemy Within is also a classic.
>>9756231I think you should use milliput or greenstuff for that sort of thing. Plasticard is really more for larger scale stuff, cutting it up in to small pieces to make cobblestones just seems inefficient and painful. You can also shape putty however you want, so making potholes or other kinds of damage to the stones would be much easier.

>>97558117Yes, pretty much. This 'win with cheese' has been encouraged the last few decades by GW using it as a method to boost sales - their constant fiddling with the stats of figures that are going out of production and powerboosting each successive new model making it more powerful and cheesy than the model/version/faction it is replacing. Most 40k players, brought up on this and which hold tournament play to be the pinnacle of gaming, consider cheesing it as the only way to play and get confused if you try to introduce fair play, plausability and common sense to the game. The fact that the entire game was just a silly made up parody of scifi media and wargaming doesnt help either.
>>97561877Jealousy, spite and laziness mostly, the realisation that if they plop an unpainted half assembled army onto a flat green table, they are a casual. Many people are like that, you put effort into whatever you do and it's easier for the casuals to try to tear you down to thier level, instead of putting in effort to learn and improve themselves.
>>97563894They make them? Buildings are easy to do, just grab some food containers or carve a block of expanded foam, decorate with card and paint it up. This may be more effort fhan some are willing to give to terrain, but it can be fun and you can learn some new modeling skills. Here's some buildings I did for WHFB, 40k, gorkamorka and RPGs.

I know GW want's all their gamers to be living adverts for their products in their shops and tournaments (like how Mcdonalds don't like you eating a KFC in their joints), but in the privacy of your own homes, you can use what the hell you like.
>>97564809A better shot of the foam buildings.
>>97563235I like how all the players are wearing historical gear. The palyers themselves are part of the display for each other. Tales say they were shaped by the Old Ones alongside many other races, dwelling primarily in the lands now known as Ind. After Chaos swept the world and the Old Ones vanished, the Tiger Warriors were saved by their chieftain, Kamau, who defied Tzeentch and overcame the god’s schemes through sheer nobility and unwavering loyalty to his peopleFollowing this, the highland tribes were led by the first White Tiger to fulfil the prophecy of leading them to salvation, across the Mountains of Heaven, into the western deserts and the lands of the Iron Dragon. Here, they shaped a life - and a legacy - on their own terms. Their allegiance to the Iron Dragon, is absolute, but it exists alongside a far older devotion to the White Tiger, and their god, Kamau. This dual loyalty gives them a culture that sits just slightly outside the rhythms of everyday Cathayan society; they’re part of the empire, certainly, but proudly marked by their own traditions and ways of warBecause of this, their place within the armies of Cathay is a fascinating one. Zhao Ming’s forces have always attracted a wide array of mercenary companies, and the Tiger Warriors are a natural presence among them. Their duties are as varied as their heritage: guarding long-distance caravans across treacherous routes, holding strategic outposts against whatever the world throws at them, and, when called upon, marching to support other provinces. Sometimes that’s at the request of the Iron Dragon or his siblings, and sometimes because Bhashiva herself demands itIt should come as no surprise that the Tiger Warriors stand implacably against Chaos and they harbor a particular hatred for the schemes of Tzeentch. This enmity is also held for the Beastmen herds that have long plagued the mountains and jungles they once called home. For the Tiger Warriors, these foes aren’t just threats to Grand Cathay; they’re affronts to the very lands and traditions their people have fought to protect for generations
>>97565345>>97565350At last, more enemies to be vanquished with the might of the Empire's knights!
>>97565345As head of the Tiger Court, Bhashiva stands as one of the mighty Lords of Shang‑Yang – a mercenary sovereign to whom every Tiger Warrior commander ultimately bends the knee. Though she bears the revered title of White Tiger, hers is only the latest chapter in a legacy far older than her name. The first White Tiger carved her destiny in heroic fashion, guiding the highland tribes across the towering Mountains of Heaven, through blistering western deserts, and into the lands ruled by the Iron Dragon, Zhao Ming. There she swore fealty to the Western Master, forging a bond that has endured for centuries. Each new White Tiger rises to the mantle of the last, renewing ancient oaths and stepping into a legacy older than most kingdoms. No records exist of how many champions have risen. What is certain is this: the White Tiger appears whenever the tides of Chaos surge. Each time they take up the mantle, they once again lead their people into the heart of the Everchosen’s armies, driving the Tiger Warriors straight into the storm. Through these countless cycles, the White Tiger achieved what few beings of any age can claim - to have stood in battle against both Asavar Kul and Archaon>>97565350Tiger Clawspeakers serve as the wizards of the Tiger Warriors, worshipping the old Indish gods - chief among them Kamau, the Tiger God. Their magic leans toward the Wind of Beasts, channeling the raw, untamed strength of the wild. In battle they can swell the ferocity of their own warriors or summon savage creatures from the Mountains of Heaven to fight at their side.Unsurprisingly, faith also runs deep among the Tiger Warriors. Every one of them believes that without Kamau’s protection, the Chaos Gods would rise to enslave their race once more. For the Clawspeakers, that belief is more than tradition - it is a duty they carry into every spell cast and every battle foughthttps://community.creative-assembly.com/total-war/total-war-warhammer/blogs/94
