Time for some sperging. Just like almost everything in life I do like art stuff but can't stand the artist kind. And I have the feeling that once I start doing art seriously I will become like them.(good thing that this will never happen because I am retard at drawing)On topic post, is goddess story card really that nice to look at? Isn't it just a proxy of popular pixiv pic?
Oh, thank you for baking, anon. I was just about to whip something up. Got super busy earlier and just didn't have the time.>TQI'll pick up the Wing cards from Gundam once they all tank in price. Might be a few years, but I'm patient.
>>97580014>cookies = bakedI saw /acg/ was archived and started hyperventilating. >TQMy many, many wives' full art hero cards
>>97580012>Isn't it just a proxy of popular pixiv pic?As someone who bought a box recently, the amount and variety of foils and embossing is surprisingly nice, and especially at such a ridiculously low price. You can get a box for ten bucks and try for yourself.
To add to the conversation about making a card game, I think why you’re making the game is very important. I want to make a game that promotes coomer art, so to me I want the mechanics to be very simple and the art to be very prominently displayed on the card. I would also want it to be a game where I could choose whichever car I think is the cutest or the hottest or whatever and I could force that car to be playable. To this end, I find that a game similar to one piece that allows for vanillas to be playable is something that is very appealing to me. If the game is structured around magic numbers, you could print hot women at good number values and not compromise the core integrity of your game. The stacking mechanic that was talked about last thread is not appealing to me because you’re asking me to hide the art of one of the cards. Unless you’re only hiding the text box or something.
>>97580561How I'd go about it>Leader cards ("harem queens") give you a simple archetype-nudging ability>Girls in your deck are part of your harem as you play them, print representatives for different fetishes and tastes to fill each staple generic effect and each magic number>Bulk of meaningful gameplay decisions are with action and modifier cards, the former can be a mixture of the hot girls doing flashy attacks and CGDCT, the latter being various pieces of equipment both combative and fetishistic>Stacking is done with the modifier cards, letting you play the kinds of girls you want, and giving them the effects you want to play with
I've decided to prototype a smaller project purely to familiarise myself with the process of making and editing a card layout.
>>97579977>no thread-link in previous thread>for the second time in a row
>>97579579>games with facedown trap cardsthe superhero tcg Alpha Clash does this. it's kind of a " mechanics greatest hits of big 3" game. mtg big main structure and one-per-turn ramp, duel masters any-card lands, avatar card that can fight like a creature, equips/buffs that bounce back to your board automatically, and facedown trap cards.it's pretty solid if what you're looking for in a game is a 5th generation mtg spawn that actually learns the lessons of its predecessors. which feels like the kind of thing that should be a given, but its actually kinda rare.
>>97580561Need Bull, Gyaru-oh, big nigga and FAT ugly bastard card type.
>>97580561What will the "colors" represent? Or do you have some other method of dividing up the card pool?
>>97580601I've mentioned I'm tinkering with my own ideas for a horny TCG and was taking inspiration from what I saw in the thread; here's what I've settled on:>leader girl with either archetypal synergy or generic bonuses (still deciding if I want a LRIG-like upgrade mechanic)>playing girls as energy sources in a specific zone>girls in the zone can also be summoned from there if you have enough to pay their cost >the card shield is made up of girls who get sent to that zone when popped (I also have funny hentai trope names for this)>forego battle entirely and make sex the core mechanic>also have spells and tools and stuff >girls have a finite amount of stamina and are knocked out when too tired>they come back in play eventually when they've recovered, possibly to the energy zone first>different interactions may affect stamina differently>leader girl has effectively infinite stamina as long as her maidens remain pure, and you lose when she is sexed without any leftThe core issue I need to iron out is how to properly handle keeping track of stamina itself on cards. Since I want to let you build a board (but likely with a size limit) and not make this a creature battler like PTCG/Holoka I'm afraid to risk turning it into a counter stacking nightmare (especially if different recovery period lengths exist too), but I also want permanent fatigue because it's more flavour fitting and because it sets it more apart from other games.
>>97579977>What game or set are you waiting on picking up from the bargain bin?Altered and the newer Keyforge sets. Both are still too expensive in my countries online shopsCookie still isnt out here either :'( I'm not sure it ever will be :( kms I just want to play a CUTE tcg
>>97580611It's a nice skill to have, once I got Nandeck going it just makes getting the first test to see how shit the idea is that much easier
>>97579977>TQPic Related. I don't play Gundam physically because I'm already pouring money into Holo and on top of that all the talk of pricing has kinda scared me off of it but I will pick up a card of my favorite Mobile Armor eventually.
Sell me on Union Arena. Does it have power creep? If so, is it the same as every bandai game?
>>97580612I'm sorry I was taking a really long shit when the other one went down
>spend hours fantasizing about what I could buy when I have money>now when I have money I don't know what to buyUghhhhhhhhhhh I can't decideI want to buy some booster boxes for Neopets but I can't choose. There's always the "is the base set going to explode in price" for all TCGs, so buy a box now so you at least have some staples down the line, then there's "hot new set with long term value" or "2nd set silver age" with the 25th anniversaryRight now I'm thinking 1 box of Defenders of Neopia or 1 box of Void Within but I keep switching it for War for the Obelisk and 25th Anniversary. If only I could have bought one of these boxes in person somewhere instead of online... every set I don't have a box of there's at least 1 chase card I really want too. Should I just flip a coin or chase the dream?
You should save and invest.
>>97581664No one is going to buy your crypto card game
>>97580612I asked you last thread to bake. Yes, you, specifically. But you didn't. I was busy helping anon take a shit. Have some courtesy next time.
>>97580601Leader cards are overdone, overused and done in a way that promotes semi rotation. Terrible for deck building creativity as well.
>>97581992Counterpoint: ScoreZ The issue is it's not implemented well in a lot of games. Do it right, and it can be great. The GT "Hi-Tech" personality cards, in particular, let you essentially "build" your leader cards, offering vast diversity.
>>97581992The issue is the implementation, not the mechanic. Games like DBS:M, the only card text that matters is its traits because they enable other cards. You make leader cards with actual effects that impact the game? Has none of the issues you're talking about.
How is FaB?
Trying out some different templates based on feedback I got. Anyone here want to weigh in on the potential new layouts?
>>97582266It isn't.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IykqoRtmjmEI didn't watch the video. Don't if what he says is positive or negative.
>>97582298He mostly just explains what SAGE is and how it avoids the legendary pitfalls. He doesn't seem to have any more in depth knowledge or take considering he previously tried the game in 2020. It's an okay video I suppose if you're new and want to learn what SAGE is. I think FAB is a lot of fun and even own a few "high value" cards like Fyendal's Spring Tunic but reasonably if you want to play at home you should and could just print and play it. >https://fabtcg.com/resources/bravo-demo-deck-print-and-play/Pretty sure Ira's demo deck is still available to print somewhere too.
>>97582296Take note that every car game has borders on it for a reason. Even if this is just a fan game for yourself, it will be best to design in a way that makes it easier on yourself when you go to cut them out. Also, if you ever do plan to send it to a shop to print, they are going to want some form of bleed so that the cards get cut consistently. Any advice I give you now about the layout of your cards is less important than you designing with a border.
>>97582296I'm not a huge fan of how you're doing the subtitles. My suggestion is to put 'Crash Man' in a larger font and 'With Both Barrels' in a smaller less decorative font beneath it, whether centered or left-aligned with an indent for the subtitle. Also, something about the tiny red multi attack bar is making my eyes bleed, and the negative space above Crashman's sprite is bothersome. I feel like you could put a pixel platform under him to center him vertically without having him float in mid-air.
>>97582296I like the penultimate
>>97582767Seconding this. No card game has sharp corners like this, so at the very least you need a border to compensate for this so that you don't cut off any of the elements wedged in the corner. I get that you're going for square borders to push the video game menu look, but on the card edge, that's not going to work.
Which of these four corner inserts shapes looks best to you?
1 - Careful Investigator - 1F1BOnce per turn you may pay 1F or 1B to draw a card.1/1/0 (1) 0/0/0
>>97582266It's the best game with the worst company behind it
>>97583869Top left, but mostly because it feels the least inconsistent.
Legally distinct dragon
>>97584135I know that dragon
>>97583869for what purpose these corners?
anyone tried pure red ping? is it enjoyable and good?
>>97584199Honestly, a lot of the low end red units kinda suck. A lot of the level 6-7 units are great, QGuuux is good to, but you have turns before that and it can get dicey especially on turn where your resources don't make a nice sum of your command card costs. I would really look at using another color on the low end. Doing like Academy command spam can be fun but it's one of those decks where you have to have certain cards in hand on certain turns. Using blockers to stall for the big burns is a thing. Using Blue/purple as additional ping to help get value out of cards like All Range Attack or Battle of Aces also good. If you really want an all red deck, ZAFT is an option but it's not all that much ping.
>>97584356>a lot of the low end red units kinda suckI see, the best is to use another color which have better starters
>>97584472i run a tiny bit of green for some cheap dudes.
>>97582767>Also, if you ever do plan to send it to a shop to printIf I send it to a print shop I'm going to pay someone to make a better card frame.>>97582823I was looking for input on the layout of the elements. As you can clearly see graphic design is clearly not my strong suit.>>97582829Do you mean the Boss card or the penultimate character card? >>97582860>. I get that you're going for square borders to push the video game menu lookActually it has square borders because the anon who made the original frame for me didn't put a rounded border on the cards,

>>97585721I don't necessarily think it's GD03 being weak, it's shit like Amuro/Kira/Aile Strike being too good so they'll keep seeing play.

>>97581992arguably overdone. but this is a bizarre take:>Terrible for deck building creativity as wellwhen a lot of the games noted for rich brewing environments have leaders. like maybe they're good in spite of leaders? but obviously it's not holding them back much.
>>97586488>when a lot of the games noted for rich brewing environments have leaders.Name them. If you say Magic because of Commander, I will end you.
i cant tcg design my brains aversion to an empty board state keeps adding perma-permanents which turns half the cards into spells and events and who the fuck wants a deck with no characters let alone nouns
>>97586519>my brains aversion to an empty board state keeps adding perma-permanents which turns half the cards into spells and events and who the fuck wants a deck with no characters let alone nounsI don't understand what you're saying>You don't like empty boards>So you make permanents that can't be removed?>Which makes cards not permanents?>And this is bad because there are now no permanents?
>>97586534More like whenever I start injecting theme, the board being emptied creates a disconnect so I force it to be repopulated or always be populated from the start. Like a dumb example is a volleyball concept I had. It makes sense for one player to be injured and be missing from a side. But for an entire side to just be empty midround? My brain is like 'well clearly that signals the end of the round'. And the logic flows from that - well start the next round with both sides having their 4 players back on the board. Or maybe those cards never leave the board, they just take damage until they're tapped out until the round ends. And you can't just put in random players, it has be the same ones, so cards are just evolved forms. Wow would you look at that, you locked your whole deck in and now only have actions to add any sort of deviations. The more I think about it, it's probably less from picking shit themes and more having played too many StS/StS clones. And yet I still don't like FaB
>>97586598>It makes sense for one player to be injured and be missing from a sideDoes it though? I know sports injuries happen, but unless you're making some kind of hyperviolence sport, they shouldn't be a core mechanic of your game. And if you ARE making a hyperviolence sport, then the rules of the sport should reflect that and replacing players should be expected.
>>97586625Well that's kind of root of my retardation. I keep trying to find ways to have dynamic board state beyond combat but also not so heavily reliant on tokens. Otherwise I make yet another tableau builder (or worse, a tableau builder with forced card removal). Which can be fun, but isn't really TCG in spirit. So I try to embrace the fact entities should enter and leave the board and they should drive the possible actions, but the retard juice is strong and now the actors just sit there while the players act upon them. Or back to the volleyball example, yeah I would agree that players should be on the court the entire time. Cool, cool, so I make this framework, tweak those rules, and uhh my deck is 90% "dive" and "spike" cards.
>>97586499NTA, FoW and GR immediately come to mind. Wixoss too.
>>97585702>i'm kinda upset at how little the meta changed with the new set.Barbatos Fed ping was not 70% of the top cut before and Kira/Seed shit was good but Sword Strike specifically has come to the front much more than during it's release. The trouble is that they are focusing on new decks and getting them "good enough" which is not good enough. All these decks like AGE, CB, or whatever else can all get wins at your locals if you get your combo on curve. They just don't have a lot of options and decisions. You just have it or you don't, and you're probably running a lot of shit filler because all these cards want to be run with their own tribe.
>>97586519Make a game based around developing a board state then, like Netrunner
>>97586467Very cool, anon! I really need to get back into FoW. Maybe they've even released something that I could use for my cat deck.

>>97586499if you've spent more then ten minutes here you should be able to name quite a lot yourself. netrunner, scoreZ, AGOT, ashes, wixoss, both LotR and MECCG, there's a shitload. leaders aren't the problem. the common theme is that they either don't have factions or they're not strict and let you mix factions.
My Pandora Wars box (and other misc DM boxes) came.I can't be bothered taking pictures, but I got Miroku and Kisaragi as duelists (based), and many cards featuring Prin (rarest ones being pic related from Dueking 2025, the Saiko Princess silver treasure from Pandora Wars, and even the Pandora Royals silver treasure (featuring Prin in the art) from a box of DM22-RP2 which I expected nothing from and only picked up because it was cheap). All is right in the world.
>>97588347congrat u bought it?
>>97588602Yeah I ebay-ed it, 19 quid. I don't regret it though, the red pocket envelope with the bigger art is a nice collectable too for a hoarder like me. Very pretty card, good for CB theme.>tfw checked Bandai official rules and found out the at cross-language resource/token/don-s etc are officially allowed for Gundam/Onepiece/etc
Any Dragon Ball collectors here who can give me an opinion?I'm thinking about starting to collect DBS cards because it's the only main franchise from my childhood that I don't have any cards of (I already collect Digimon and Pokémon).I don't want to get into playing the game or have a really large collection. My goal is simply to get at least 1 card of each Dragon Ball character.I know there's Masters and Fusion World. Which one should I prioritize? I know I can collect both but I feel it would be better to focus on one of those series. From what I've seen, Masters seems to have the better artwork but I'm not sure if I like the long card names. Fusion World has just the character names like I prefer and doesn't have as much card text so they don't look as busy but the artworks are more basic. Also, I'm a bit overwhelmed with how many cards already exist. Should I start by the oldest sets or the newest sets? Thanks in advance.
>>97587434Thanks, anon. I'm sure you'd find something, cats are pretty based in FoW.

>>97589834>When will this trend end? When retail effectively starts.Keep in mind that right now Warlord booster boxes come with box toppers (kickstarter)Those box are the same as the retail boxes. The box toppers could be sold separately and people would probably buy.The only product exclusive to the kickstarter (except box toppers Extended art cards from booster boxes (comes in a separated pack) ) is the box of greed ("fatpack" box with reprint of 100 cards that see play). The box of greed is expected to be sold for more (imo).(BTW they already have set 2 figured out)(I swear if they got their shit and expectation together Warlord would have a chance to be one of the big 6)
My LGS is hosing a SAGE pre-con only tournament. Who should I play? I'm leaning on Fai or Enigma but I feel like fai just folds easily if you can't gain tempo, with the precon having too many potential brick hands and Enigma I just haven't played enough of yet.
>>97589829Am I autistic if I always feel revulsion staring at the text on Riftbound cards? Something about how they're written is deeply upsetting to me. Maybe it's the apparent need to construct text in a standardised, artificial way that would be clearer if it was just written out.

>>97589829>>97589942The real revulsion comes from how genuinely terrible the templating is, and how the game actually functions.Like how pic related is the newest hotness to complain about because the templating is legit ass.In Riftbound, ALL targets MUST be declared. So Relentless Pursuit MUST target an Equipment to use it at all. It doesn't matter if you don't intend to attach the Equipment or not, you need to have a target in mind, declare it THEN decide to not attach it on resolution.Any regular human being reading the card would just assume that you can move any unit, but then IF you have an Equipment you may also do the attachment shit. But nope, if someone wipes your Equipments out your Signature Spell is not a legal card to play anymore.
>>97592113>>97592380Wait, is it designed in Chinese first? That would explain it. It's all shit translation made by incompetent retards trying to ape the language structure of the original text because they can't type proper English.
>>97592113>card refers to itself as me instead of this The horror.>>97592380Garbage reminder text too.
>>97592463It all stems from trying desperately to differentiate themselves from MTG, and so they use more casual text which is just straight up incompatible with having a rules engine in the background making cards work the way they should.By all means they could've wrote>Choose a friendly unit and an Equipment with the same controller. Move that unit. You may attach that Equipment to that unit. This turn, that unit has "When I conquer, you may move me to base."Same fucky wording, but clear in the fact that you need to "choose" 2 things for it to function.Riot are just retards flying by the seat of their pants.Because you ALSO have shit like Hidden as a keyword, which has far too many moving parts in the background and is straight up NOT explained properly anywhere but the black-and-white hundred page rules document.>Hidden lets you pay a Power to place the card face-down at a battlefield you control>You can only have 1 Hidden card per battlefield (unless otherwise stated on a card)>After a turn has passed, the card is allowed to be played and has Reaction speed. It also is completely free to play.>Any choices made with the card have to involve the battlefield that the card is played at when possible (so if a unit is played, it must go to the battlefield its Hidden at. If you need to choose something, it needs to be at the battlefield you are at etc.)with the above information, what did they write for this excessively complicated SET 1 keyword?>Hide now for (1 Power) to react with later for (0).
>>97592510Another Hidden mechanic I forgot to mention>If you lose control of the battlefield that a Hidden card is at, the Hidden card is sent to the trash, with no opportunity to use it

>>97592510>so they use more casual textNothing about this garbage reads casual.
>>97592696It's more stuff like avoiding more technical terms like targeting, having cards refer to themselves in first person etc. It's more conversational text, but it tends to get fucked when you ask basic questions like "does this card choose?" and "what is required to even play this card?"
>>97592716>It's more conversational textBut it's not, though. It's an out of touch retard's idea of conversational. It just reads like bad writing.

>>97592481It's not all cards. All units (aka creatures) refer to themselves in the third person. Gear (artifacts) and spells (sorceries/instants) are written in the third person.Despite all the complaints, I'm adamant that Riftbound *is* a fantastic TCG. It's just frankly unacceptable that it's going through such amateur quality control issues despite being funded by Riot Games.
>>97593098But enough about fab
>>97580042I just picked up her SAge deck liked the way the hero played. Wish I got her marvel when it was $40.
>>97593244>It's just frankly unacceptable that it's going through such amateur quality control issues despite being funded by Riot Games.I'm just glad they actually tried to listen to the audience. When the initial demo released and hype exploded, the cards were made to look like an ugly one piece knock-off, but people complained and they actually changed the design. And when people complain about the rules, they they try to fix them.Still weird they're going through this though.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3918850/Might__Magic_Fates__Heroes_TCG/This any good?
>>97593244I have still to see anyone explain how it plays and why it's good.
>>97594329nta, but it's just fun. Not sure I can properly elucidate why if you haven't tried it, it would be like trying to explain colour to a blind person. It's like mtg at it's core, but the fact you're fighting over battlefields which can only be scored a limited number of times, means it tempers both the aggro and control extremes, aggro physically can't win before t4-5, and control has to engage with the board to be able to win. The legends being very different offers lots of different playstyles. At a competitive level, balancing is very questionable though.
>>97594423>It's like mtg at it's coreso instant dropgreat now that's settled let's talk about something else
>>97594448>let's talk about something elsenah, I think i'll talk about the /acg/s I like
>>97593244The whole thing does appear extremely amateurish. Take just Defy: counter is not defined as a keyword, it just relies on the assumption that you will know what it means. Even Hearthstone knew better. I also, but maybe it's just me, take issue with the way the chain is supposed to work. If it goes off in reverse order it does not make logical sense to me for Defy to work as a reaction. If it read prevent instead of counter it would make sense. Maybe it's just my language autism though.
>>97594454>take issue with the way the chain is supposed to work. If it goes off in reverse order it does not make logical sense to me for Defy to work as a reactionwhat do you mean?Spell is on chain/stack. Play Defy targeting spell. Now chain is spell on bottom, defy on top, so defy resolves first, which counters the spell, meaning the spell does nothing and goes to the trash.Countering is defined in rule 412.
>>97594329I personally enjoy the dynamic of how their Rune/Power system works>Rune deck of 12 cards>At the start of the game, you get 2 Runes (or 3 if you went second)>Each turn, you get 2 Runes from the top of your Rune deck>Tapping the Runes gives you Energy to pay for cards>"Recycling" a Rune (putting it to the bottom of your Rune Deck) gives you a Power, which is another cost that can be present on cardsThis adds a whole dynamic of whether to get rid of your current Runes to pay for a card, which will affect your future Energy gains for later turns until you reach the critical mass of 12 available Runes is really neat.
Does the 0-8 hyperspatial zone size restriction apply to duelmate cards, and does the 1-4 rule apply to them individually?
>>97594479>Countering is defined in rule 412With all the garbage reminders and keywords they have on cards, they could afford to make one for that.>Spell is on chain/stack. Play Defy targeting spell. Now chain is spell on bottom, defy on top, so defy resolves first, which counters the spell, meaning the spell does nothing and goes to the trashI find it deeply counterintuitive that you're "targeting" something that's still in the unresolved aether. It's just fundamentally nonsensical for a reactive action to happen before the supposed cause of it. The wording doesn't make sense either really. If "the chain resolves in reverse order" then the spell you used Defy on resolves after Defy; there is no effect for Defy to stop yet when it goes off. Unless counter is defined as removing from the chain, this is just needlessly backwards.
>>97594524>you're "targeting" something that's still in the unresolved aether.the chain is a physical space where cards (and abilities) are, thoguh. If you move a card from the chain into the trash, it's gone from it physically.>It's just fundamentally nonsensical for a reactive action to happen before the supposed cause of it.action and reaction are "playing" speeds. Meaning you are reacting to something happening to play something, like reacting to an action being played. You aren't reacting to something resolving. >"the chain resolves in reverse order"It's just a normal stack, LIFO.>Unless counter is defined as removing from the chainit is
>>97594546>action and reaction are "playing" speedsAction and reaction are abstract concepts we define reality with and you'd expect things named after them to mirror reality. >It's just a normal stack, LIFOI'm not questioning what it is, I'm questioning if it makes sense for it to be that.>it isThen it should really say so somewhere that's not the in depth rules, because I've seen people explaining the game who didn't know that.>the chain is a physical space where cards (and abilities) are, thoguhYeah, so is your hand. We're talking about the effects of cards. Denying an effect that's not in focus yet simply makes no sense. Denying the card itself does, but again that's not at all clear from a surface look at the rules.
Maybe I'm insane, but I think rules and rulings should exist to give simple answers to the complex interactions that arise from cards during play, not to add an artificial veneer of complexity to what appears streamlined by looking at the cards themselves. I should be looking at the rules when I come across card texts that interface in a way that leaves me unsure. If instead I'm faced with a situation where reading the cards leaves me certain things are supposed to play out a certain way and the rules are what forces itself upon the game and says something else then the entire game is built backwards.
Can someone give me the gist of the gundam TCG? I have a very mild interest, i'm a newer gundam franchise fan, but I need to be convinced to give a shit about the TCG. My LGS has precons
>>975945018 card limit applies to any types of cards in the hyperspatial zone (psychic, dragheart, duelmate). It's 8 cards total with no more than 4 copies of the same card. Not 8 types of cards with up to 4 copies.
>>97594759The rules are somewhat unclear due to listing duelmates separately from the old hyperspatial cards. So the optimal build is probably 3-3-2 or even 4-2-2 I'd assume?
>>97594811Optimal is usually to have as many different hyperspatial cards as possible to maximize your options, only doubling up when you have a good reason. The couple of decks I've seen played (from Youtube videos) with duelists ran 1-1-2 for duelmate cards (rest being psychic cards), doubling up on a duelmate that's generally useful and situationally better than linking the super creature.
>>97594848>rest being psychic cardsDrags not viable?
>>97594887They are. The decks just happened to use psychics. Probably new ones from Pandora Wars.
>>97594887>>97594930 (Me)Actually I just looked again at the videos I was talking about. One of them uses 4 duelmates 4 psychics (Kisaragi deck), and the other uses 4 duelmates 4 draghearts (Miroku deck).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SulQM3kuon4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCgkGtzTDkk
How do I fix bandai's fucking warped foil cards holy shit, don't have a dehumidifier
>>97595537>don't have a dehumidifierA silica gel pack and some kind of container would work also, but try to prevent direct contact with your cards. A heavy flat object is another choice if you want to try that.
>>97594701It's about balancing your give and take more than anything. Attacking the opponent leaves you especially vulnerable but you have to do it to win. The biggest, baddest boss cards are going to stay on board for like 1 turn most of the time. You're always giving something up, it's just making sure your opponent has to give up at least that much. How greedy can you get without going bust?
>>97594701>Can someone give me the gist of the gundam TCG?It's like every other Bandai game, except with no gimmick and Hearthstone combat instead of Big Number Wins.

>>97595537Foil warping is a result of the foil material itself tugging at the card; just putting weight on it is enough.
>>97589942i hate that the ACTION and ADD boxes on that card are in italics, but the normal rules text isn't, but the reminder text is. I guess it makes sense to have the non-functional symbols be kinda reminder text but at that point why even have them
Hey Lorcana bros. What's the best starter deck to pick up? Which one is the strongest straight out of the box?
>>97595853It used to be this one but with set rotations now the Zootopia one from Whispers in the Well is probably the best one to jump into the game with.(In my Opinion)

fuck blockers. all my homies hate blockers.
>>97595853It's a Disney product, so none of them are strong straight out of the box. Everything comes out of the box gay.
>>97595964kek

>>97594329>The game has a very strong sense of momentum>a score-based king of the hill game is a fresh change of pace over a wizard fight to the death>mana recycling (putting back lands back into the land deck for some costs) incentivizes making hard decisions about big plays vs. tempo, especially for holding>every strategy has to still interact with combat and enemy toughness >battlefield vs. personal fields stratify threats and safety, and removing stuff from a personal field has different costs depending on the colorI could go on, but I'm happy there's another popular 1v1 card game with a burgeoning draft scene and exciting developments in the meta. There's a reason people are sticking with it hard despite the jank>durrr but riot2XKO and all the other small Riot side projects already demonstrated that being touched by Tencent funding alone isn't a recipe for success. Try the game out on TTS or TCGA if you're curious.
>>97595951Although vintage it IS a dead card game and not many people would drop that kind of money on it even for a supposed *CASE* of booster boxes.
>>97596210the only blockers in there are from gwitch and seed tho.
>>97596389Individual boosters and sealed boxes do still get sold though, and for quite more than the relative fraction of that.

Bro, shut the fuck up about your Riot hate. No one cares they fired you.
>>97596480it's a dying company
Tencent bought Riot and funded High GuardIt's Tencent who ruined 2XKO and fucked up Riftbound's release
>>97596480the issue with 2XKO is that they clearly reinvented the core concept like 3+ times since their initial pitch. It was initially "Rising Thunder but League" to "League Street Fighter" to "League Anime Fighter" to "League Tag Fighter" to "League BBTag"They have *very little* to show for their 8ish years in development. It's not so much the quality of the work (though core game assets are underbaked) as much as how sparse it all is. The good news is that you can see from Akali and Senna that they clearly do have premium looking characters on the docket. Hopefully they take their team being cleaved in half as the jumpstart to actually push out a game worth playing. It just sucks that so many people lost their jobs due to poor direction.
>>97594423>At a competitive level, balancing is very questionable thoughBecause the game hasn't had enough sets to flesh out all the archetypes and colors. Purple dominates because it has so many high value cards.

>>97595853Going to agree with >>97595944 , the Detective theme for that starter has some fairly solid stuff in it. However, Lorcana generally doesn't have very high powered starters, so be prepared to supplement any starters you pick up with boosters or singles once you get the hang of playing the game. That being said, Winterspell is the first set to release without the normal 2 pre-con decks, and I'm still wondering what they're playing at.

>>97598110>shilling mtgYuck
>>97598159Yeah my only mild complaint was not being able to get either of the new paintbrushes in my 1 box but at least the singles aren't too expensive. It feels like they doubled the UR/XR rate in Void Within and going forward since the next set (Maraqua) will only have 20 pack booster boxes.
Can they print more red cards that can destroy blockers? the level 9 Xi Gundam sucks ass so much, Mafty needs a new Mafty pilot or make a new version of Hathaway.
>>97598452Yeah, singles are usually pretty reasonable, especially once I found the top ebay sellers on dicksword and we were able to fuck ebay out of their cut of the transaction. ^_^Annoying that the next set only has 20 packs per box. We're really hoping they cut some of the pack chaff down. Too many basic pets per pack.
>>97591329Box toppers are all cards in the main set that you can find normal versions on booster boxes. I think there are 2 rares 6 uncommon and a bunch of commons in the box toppers.
>>97596936I mean, what cards to include in each set is a choice, and they designed the first 2 sets together
>>97597864I'd say so, considering how other Bandai games are full of search. Basically ever Digimon archetype has searchers.
>>97598110>I literally cannot buy that someone has stronger feelings about bad UBs other than "I'm skipping it" and then literally consoom force of will, optcg, or wixossAre you so retarded as to have no concept of respect for consistency and coherence?

>>97598155>weYou already know this committee is made up of the same "people" who can't even play tcg in a browser together right? I voted in all of the polls so far but I think you'd be better off asking the Condemned guy if he'll add horny cards next set.

I hold no water for Riot games, but I'm so tired of people talking about Dota like it's the golden child instead of a mod-turned-extraction-machine that literally led the industry down its worst live service tricks. Neither Riot nor Icefrog give a shit about Pendragon anymore.

>>97603095Card games in general have a netdecking problem but it is especially horribly bad in Gundam. B/P was the simplest to build and pilot and big events were literal days after set release so it was just what got played in general, so it took a lot of top spots, so now it is what people play because it took so many top spots. It's very strong, annoying levels of consistency make it a legitimate pick and threat. Other decks are rising to beat it as people try new stuff, especially red focused decks, but they have a fairly natural ability to brick that B/P is resistant to. Gane does still have fucked balance, especially at the top end just for what series they allow to be good and which get straight up worse versions because they aren't moneymakers, but its not actually going to be B/P mirrors every match until May
>>97603187The evolution and analysis of card game metas always fascinates me. Whether something is ever truly solved, how decks are crafted, the data driven approaches to it. It's always nice when a specific meta is allowed to exist frozen separately from the evolving game with enough players to still see new developments, or to confirm the state of things. Brings to mind when Hearthstone had a repeat of its original format for a while and we were able to confirm that yeah, Rogue was that busted in it.
>>97602827This is not a very popular (In the sense of people posting about it) game, so I don't know how it plays or if it is cool.Game wise Warhammer side games can be good like Warhammer Underworlds (skirmish miniature game with small warbands played on hexagonal grided map that uses Cards for objectives(victory points) and upgrades/interactions) Historically warhammer had some cool card games like the w40k (and later horus heresy) ccg then the Fantasy Flight Games lcgs (40k conquest etc)I hope you like the game tho.
>>97600812Literally how? Who is playing this shit when you have to fucking spend $40 on base art SRs?
Should I buy 20kg of unsorted FoW cards for $80?
>>97603363God Underworlds was kino during Nightvault/Beastgrave.
>>97602876>Kanrik, a code, and Obelisk in 5 packs Not a bad haul, all things considered. Bummer that TVW was sold out, but at least the game isn't getting scalped.
>>97603430Depends on the shipping cost, I'd say. It's obviously going to all be bulk, but it might be fun/cool bulk, especially if it's older cards with the better frame.
>>97587765It's cause the national tournament is happening at the same time. That along with worlds are the biggest by far. If you don't play the game you can still go and do the learning events, they let you attend anyway.
>>97599668There's a red Banshee? Okay, I'm going to try changing some cards to fit Amuro and other freeze cards.
>>9760343020kg is what, three shoe boxes full of cards? That's not a whole lot, if they are only commons. They better be really unsorted and better have one rarity level above that too.
Wouldn't it make more sense to ban/limit Lfrit, Rick, and Zoworts instead of banning Amuro kek?
>>97603891ban the-O
>>97603806It's closer to thrice that many.
post more pulls
>>97604229I was way off, okay. Still, it better have uncommons too for that price.
>>97604386Luminous Selector?
>>97603779Sorry, I phrased that confusingly. I meant "No matter what you play, Siege Ploy and Amuro are good blue cards to fuck blockers. If you are specifically playing red you get special access to Banshee that green players and purple players must look longingly at."
>>97604411See, I don't think the seller knows. By looking at it and looking at other things he has up for sale (a bunch of YGO cards for cheap, 18 JP OP packs for 50 bucks), and based on the listing's description, it all points to the much memed scenario of "someone will find your cards after you're dead and have no idea how much they're worth". He appears to have simply found the collection, and I'd rather not get it into his head that there might be rare stuff worth more in it.
>>97603187>Card games in general have a netdecking problem but it is especially horribly bad in Gundam.both the frequency of netdecking and how much of a "problem" it is varies a lot by game. think it's got a lot to do with where game designers put the balance between how much deckbuild skill matters vs how much piloting skill matters. like if players can consistently take a netdeck that won something, go to a tournament and win themselves, then yeah you're going to have a fucking netdeck problem. if trying to use somebody else's deck usually fails, people netdeck less.bandai games tend to be the ultimate "just turn your brain off bro" (at the table) tcg experience, so they suffer worse than most.
>>97601887It's very good. The other guy is a sperg, the new format and precons have done a good job of getting people into the game and while hardcore players don't have too much of a reason to play SAGE outside of helping new players get into the game it still has a lot of value compared to blitz (i.e. LL heroes being available, lower power gives new life to cards that aren't used much/at all in CC). Also worth noting that SAGE will be supported at the competitive level at least for this year, so hardcore players are incentivized to keep their eye on it.It's absolutely the best time to get into the game and FAB easily has the best foundation of any TCG if you value depth and high amount of interactions+decision making.
>>97604701>SAGE will be supported at the competitive levelThis, as always, is completely up to your local store. I know of 2-3 people max in my state who actually go to nationals or worlds and my major metropolitan area has 1 SAGE skirmish out of 10. CC whiners are killing the format here and refuse to go to the weekly because LSS' formerly gratuitous support has shrunk to the industry average so stores cannot afford to support both events equally.
Ashes chads can someone tell me how to play Viper? I picked up the last starter on a discount and opened her deck first. Lost my first game after getting stuffed late and being unable to fix my dice. Willing to try and pick up a new precon while I'm at my other weeklies if you have any suggestions
>>97603363>I hope you like the game tho.I played it and IMHO it was pretty fun and the first session took us two hours to complete.Maybe our next run, we'll probably be faster The card combo system is pretty good instead of relying on dice for random numbers. The whole game is kinda like hold the line against a horde of chaos cultist
>the fucking binders I ordered haven't even fucking shipped yetI'm starting to think this guy is dead; I'll have to cancel my order and find new ones elsewhere.
Kino teaser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZSrI2b7kdg
>>97604729Not a problem where i'm at. My LGS is small for the local scene but we had 10 people show up from out of town for a SAGE tourney
>>97604622Figures. Selling it by weight was a big giveaway too. Good luck, hopefully there will be some cool things there. I've never been in a situation like that before, but now I kind of want to be
Anons, is Grand Archive expensive? Also, is it a competitive-first game?>>97604386Beautiful. Congrats, anon
>>97603385People that go outside, have a job and go to events so they have a chance to win prize cards that are worth 100x this Nami card
How is the sorcery tcg situation in europe? I'm looking around and it seems stores are having troubles/increased prices, I wanted to see if I could get my (lazy as fuck) lgs owner to get me some product since I have a fuckton of store credit I wouldn't otherwise use.
>>97605231Some cards are pricy but many are reasonably affordable. There is a special set, which WotS are calling a ‘Capstone’ set which is more expensive but includes a bunch of reprints which should help with some prices. One of the most in demand rare cards is Dungeon Guide and was about £20 a copy and running 4 was needed in most decks with a level 3 champion, but it’s getting a reprint in a precon deck coming out at the start of April. Some of the community deck builders will give TCG player prices for available cards so it might be worth looking at decks on those. Fractal of Insight is a good website to see what people are playing at big events.
>>97604456yes
>found two Final Fantasy starter decks in storage>bought them forever ago with the intention to try it but never didIs this game good?
>>97605532Thanks, anon.>£20 a copy and running 4>£80 for four cardsThat sounds expensive to me. Sure, it's getting a reprint, but my experience with other games says another card will take its place eventually.I wouldn't mind if a whole deck was around $150 tho.>community deck builders>Fractal of InsightI'm going to give these a lookBtw, what about the new multiplayer mode?
>>97606188which one do you have? I bought 3 fftcg starter deck and I have no one to play with too lol

>>97606387Pic related>>97606400Correct
>>97606400you were correct bravo
>>97606504No, this is Flesh and Blood
>>97604779were you playing against human opponent or one of the pve monsters? advice is gonna be a little different depending.her basic plan in both modes for precon is make a big fucking snake, then use hypnotize to swing unblockable for the one turn kill. get the snake out, keep it alive by guarding for it with mice and maeoni herself, protect it from spells with golden veil. there's two different unexhausts in there (refresh and transfer) so you can get multiple snake attacks per round. just go slow and focus on killing shit and growing the silver snake.>stuffed late and being unable to fix my diceunless you're totally out of cards, you can always meditate to fix dice faces. cards in deck, hand, or on the spellboard are all fair game. you're not locked out until you literally have nothing left. its basically always better to meditate than to not spend dice because you dont have the right faces.

>>97606723>also cats for guaranteed replyAlways ^_^Those are nice.
>>97606965>slipped my mind shootno worry, extremely common first time mistake. the meditation mechanic is key to the dice not being super RNG and just fucking you.the other big miss is forgetting you can guard once each round with the Phoenixborn. super important for maeoni to dive in front of an attack and keep snake alive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLJv56JBHbUNot to shit on MtG much but this is an interesting video.
>>97607450>Not to shit on MtG muchBy all means proceed.
>>97607899Wizards is already doing a good enough job at it themselves.
>>97607450Are there any TCGs where foils DON'T curl??
>>97608732Probably ones that use plastic cards instead of paper?
Be honest, how much money have you spend on useless cardboard this month?
>>97608899On the cards themselves? Only about 20-23 bucks. Just got a Starter Deck, a playset of pic related, and an S Reine 1st because it was there and the foiling was pretty.
>>97608899What makes card games any more useless than any other hobby people spend money on? If I wasn't spending money on cards I'd be spending it on video games or gunpla instead. But to answer your question I've spent $0.00. I'm falling out of love with Digimon and Lorcana simultaneously and haven't spent any money on them this month. Will probably move to Final Fantasy for a while.
>>97608899None, I don't think I've bought any cards in over a year.
>>97608942>Will probably move to Final Fantasy for a while.cool, I wish we could play together

>>97609070Yeah, man I'd love to if we could.>>97609312It's more like a break for Lorcana I suppose. I play it with my girlfriend and sister so I never took it too seriously anyway. But since neither of them are playing I have no reason to either right now.>>97610852>Bandai is fucking up the gameIndeed>What is happening there?Nothing really. Just quiting for personal reasons for a while>Is it better?I'm having fun learning with the two starter decks I found in storage. At the very least it's something different to enjoy. I'm a big fan of FF as a franchise so that helps too. I bought a booster box and an FFX (my favorite FF) starter set to learn with too. The two decks I had in storage are pretty old at this point so I wanted some more modern cards.
I just hope Warlord gets big enough for more reprint sets.
Did the Warlords precons get released? I'm kind of out of the loop, just saw it pop up in my local stores page
>>97611183>It's more like a break for LorcanaOh, well that's ok! No harm in taking a break. Hope you have fun with FF. I suppose if you play both at once, it's technically Kingdom Hearts.
>>97611532Yeah, all stores who bought on kickstarter should receive their share this mouth. Retail if I m not mistaken will start next mouth.I think there will less product available during the first wave because they changed factory midway. For people wondering about pull rates of booster boxes: on a 24 booster box, you will pull about 3 normal legendaries and about 3 foil and or extended art legendaries. And about 6 foil and or extended art rares.
>>97611678I have joked with my sister that they should add Kingdom Hearts to Lorcana. I said it jokingly but I wouldn't hate it
>>97611822Oh, people have been legitimately hoping for Sora since Set 1. I can't see it happening any time soon... they'd have to burn through all of their Pixar properties at the very least first. I wouldn't hate it, either.
>>97611822Nomura would make it canon.

first turn 0 ftk in Yu-Gi-Oh (beside exodia)>>>/vg/558471007
>>97608899$330, but that was just because a new set of Lorcana came out. In between sets, I spend far less.
>>97612391lolno. I'm not even a big Yu-Gi-Oh guy and I know that's not true. What is shown is neither a "turn 0 FTK", nor is it the first burn win on turn 1/2 deck. Predaplants did that shit a decade ago and I have 0 doubt that other decks did too.
>>97612489how predaplant did this turn 0???
>>97612489It's my understanding that this is a 0TK in the sense that it's an FTK with built in protection from negation. If you have the cards and go first you win where other FTKs get handtrapped.
>>97612489Turn 0.5 is what commonly called Turn 0 in YGO, so he's correct in the terminology.
>>97612647It's not.Not only it dies to handtraps, but opponent also had to "play along".
>>97612494The one I remember had something to do with Gem Knights, but apparently it has persisted and evolved throughout the years because a very quick YouTube search brought up this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8JWiWVB5SY
>>97612715That's an ftk, yeah, but not what anon was asking for.Turn 0 kill means that you go second, and you win during your opponent's first turn.
>>97612739Oh that makes sense. I was thinking it meant like the very first turn of the match where you can't attack or something.
THIS IS NOT A YUGIOH GENERAL
>>97612982YGO will be an ACG soon.
>>97613029Speed Duel already is
>>97613069This is like saying commander (mtg) is acg
>>97613500Not really. Commander is what people play now. 4 out of any 5 casual games are commander. Standard and Modern are played in official events only at this point. So it's not alternative at all. Speed Duel cards which are literal different cards, were bought by collectors to laugh at the novelty.
>>97613500No it's not. Commander is the most popular format for MtG, meanwhile Rush Duel (which is I imagine what anon actually meant) is noticeably less well performing than base YGO (and even if he did mean Speed instead, that's still less popular compared within the YGO ecosystem than Commander is within Magic).
>>97613552I did not mean Rush Duel
>>97613596>Speed Duel cards which are literal different cardsSpeed Duel cards are TCG legal (but TCG cards aren't Speed Duel legal even when they're in the pool, which is a retarded greed-based decision that contributes to why the format isn't popular).
>>97613552All of this is beside the point. this thread is not for any format of big 3.
>>97613865Rush Duel is as much of a YGO format as DM is a Magic format.
>>97613865Sure thing, thread king
Seriously considering buying a printer for proxies. An inkjet printer isn't actually that expensive, about $110~. Then all I really need to worry about is the ink itself. The cardboard itself people use for proxies is so cheap that it's not even worth pricing out but for arguments sake it would be like $30 for 200 sheets, 9 cards a sheet = 1800Ink is the important part and it varies but from what I could find, if I am using the minimum amount of a big set of ink for $70, doing full color, I can get 30 sheets out of it or 270 cards. That comes out to $0.26 a card rounded up. This means I could get easily make any 60 card deck for a TCG for $15 in expenses. Not counting double sided cards obviously, which are sometimes super prevalent. What do you guys think, do you have any experience with homemade proxies?
>>97614027You guys don't use handmade scribbles?
>>97614036>ImplyingI still want to print proxies tho
>>97614066SOVL
What is the optimal deck size? Should that be the maximum or minimum? How many copies of a card per deck?
>>9761413440 cards with 4 ofs.
>>97579977Are there any card games out there where instead of players alternate drawing 1 card every turn, both players draw a full hand and play that hand completely before moving onto the next?
>>97614197There are cards where players draw up to hand size once per turn, FaB and UFS/UVS are the two that come to mind, but I can't think of any that force you to play your entire hand before drawing a new hand.
>>97614197Godzilla has you draw back up to full each turn.
>>97614197You draw 2 every turn in Final Fantasy
>>97614197Ashes is kind of that. you're not forced to play out every single card, but you keep going until neither player has any moves left, then do untap/draw.
>>97614027Anon, I wish you all the luck. I hope you will be able to make your proxies
>>97613500no but premodern mtg is /acg/ ngl. vintage might as well be /acg/>>97614027i bought an epson-8550 for $500 on sale. ink tank printers aren't as efficient as laser printers, but the colors come out much nicer on photopaper, and the epson has cheap inks which perform identically to brand name stuff.it was the best decision ever for my TCG activities. Comes out to about 9-14 cents per card depending on how fancy I go for the paper. I typically do a semi-glossy photopaper with lamination, or I use expensive fine art paper with no lamination. The following has a lot of good resources. I have this machine and use it, but you can cut the proxies by hand:https://alan-cha.github.io/silhouette-card-maker/
Man I'm really enjoying learning Final Fantasy. I have a question if anyone here knows. Is there a limit on the number of forwards you can have on the field at once?
