Noob here. assembled my very first 5 models, but haven't based them yet. planning on just basic sand for the base, I have a question on the order of operations.>have model, base, sand, and gluesince the units don't stand on their own very well, should I base them, prime the whole thing, then do the glue + sand on the base, or do the sand first, prime the sand+model, repaint the sand, or fully complete the model with/without the base, then do glue and sand on the base at the very end? I plan to do a flat varnish on everything either way so would it be ok to just keep the sand it's natural color? I wanted to delay the sand + glue so I could more easily strip the paint away if I didn't like how it turned out but I'm also ok with my first paintjob not being perfect, on the other hand. Thanks.

This guy looks like great conversion fodder. The staff is just the hand and staff so you can replace that with any weapon you can chop the hand off of, the outstretched arm looks like it plugs into a socket so you can swap that out easily too, and it's under the robe so if it's messy you can hide it. The helmet plugs into the wraith armor but you should be able to slice the neck off. The rune plugs into a whole but if you have some cloth bits or something big enough you can cover that for a more martial look. This guy is great. The only real corsair marking is that sash you could just cut short if you want a generic character.Plus the staff has a blade bottom so you can make it a glaive or a halberd if you have the fire dragon exarch's axe lying around.

Both are fine, it really depends on the model (Something like a Marine captain with a cape would be easier to paint if you didn't glue it to the base for example. If they're your first ever models just try both ways on two different minis and see which way you like more and do the rest that way.
