As for the kids, Momika made a great first impression, Iwao's a curious presence that Nekomaru is very much vexed by (scratching post), Hibiki's cool and they both seem tied to nature so they can get along, Mona could be a nice rival in taijutsu and someone to compare to since they both have more animalistic fighting styles, Kosshi looks weird (and her brother too) so Nekomaru has taken an interest to them, uuuh also shark guy because he smells like fish and Nekomaru gets hungry around him. You could be missing that vital info if your previous teammate either frauds or just gets too busy to do stuff in the thread. In a collaborative race, you don't have to worry about that.
