Gonna link my question from /gwsg/ yesterday. What do I need to know if I want to play? Most of the teams I have went out of cycle (Kommandos, Corsairs, Troupe, various Compendium shits) and I kind of want to be a lazy slob and play Marines. But I see that Legionary are also gone. Are Blades of Khaine any good? Or maybe the Dark Eldar poison team if they're still legal?

Angels of Death are an evergreen team. Easiest to learn the game with, too. You can get by on Core Rules alone, but I behoove you collect a shallow knowledge of the other teams to avoid the dreaded gotcha's.

Would a trench network with craters and wrecked vehicles make a decent table for Kill Team? I don't like multi-storey buildings but I'm fine with big bunkers so their roof can act as an extra level of surface to interact with.

Unrelated, but how "dangerous" are sisters of battle, are they slightly above imperial guard grunt level, space marine tier, above? I don't get that shit. No emperor miracles, if they aren't common.

KT18 was great, much better than what followed. Unfortunately I have no one to play it with. My local GW scene is addicted to consuming only the latest product (I refuse to call it "playing a game") and my /awg/ friends won't touch anything GW-related - Broheim and CRP BloodBowl being the only GW games that are getting a pass.
The transition from KT18 to KT21 was awful, simply terrible on every level. The compendium scam, removal of list-building, FOMO-driven business model, fucking shapes, ridiculously stupid and convoluted LoS-related rules - it was so bad it sill poisons the current edition in its core.
I still play KT basically to stay in touch with the local Warhams players but for game to be enjoyable it has to be scrapped altogether and rebuild from scratch.

Yeah people were using broken shit in hyper-competitive games - nothing to be surprised with. At least there was a possibility to play the game on casual level and go crazy with listbuilding and have fun with whacky and thematic lists. Now every team is being played in the same way whenever you play against them. It's so fucking boring and tiresome.

It's a skirmish game with reasonably good rules, not too hard to learn to play and relatively cheap, since you pnly need a single box to play, and depending on the local gaming scene you can play with whatever the fuck you want as long as it's clear what your models represent. Im playing kasrkin using the old metal model with some other minis to represent what they lack (IG comms troops and medic, old SM scout for sniper)
I find it far, far more accesible than 40k, and it's popular enough to keep in touch with your local gaming community with ease

We do not know about the new edition but it is expected around 3 years after the last edition was released, so if i am not mistaken somewhere later next year. if it is a new edition it is probably again just an updated version of the current one (that is just an updated version of the last one). so if you start now it is better to start with one of the. ewer teams because older temas probably vanish as soo. as the new edition comes out.

No. The only advantage of KT over other skirmish games is piggybacking on 40k's popularity which gives you a higher chance of finding player at your LGS.
Kill Team is not a good game and it's definitely NOT a competitive game. If you want to know if a game is well-designed and suited for competitive gaming perform a simple test - check what Line-of-Sight rules are being used in said game. If a game uses 2D LoS rules it is clear that authors were aiming for the most clear way of determining the LoS to avoid any kind of discussion at the table. If a game is using True LoS and you have to fucking squat to see if your mini sees (lmao) opponent's mini and then argue about this with your opp (which is quite common in a cut-throat highly-competitive environment) you know the authors are lazy fucks. KT has one of the most convoluted and pointless cover rules I have ever seen in my life and I constantly see people following a fucking flow-chart to know if they determine it correctly.
When you play with friends it shouldn't matter of course but unlike some people claim, the competitive scene is very proxy-unfriendly since because of the TLoS the mini's shape and size DO matter.
