Low to mid sequence is pure hell for paragon indeed, as they only get real combat power at 5, and i'd say only starts being viable in direct combat at demigod level, before that you're much better off getting a friend to use your artifacts.Hanged man's S5 is considered to be the strongest S5 in universe due to grazing, but even they have their weak points, like being sun victims.

Special mention for Fantasist: it is typically ranked high, sometimes at even the top, but it is really just propped up by a major character and thus tends to be thought of with immense bias.Death God is extremely extremely countered by anyone in the same path who is of a higher sequence than oneself (if you run into one, pray that they don't enslave you), anything holy or purifying, and s3+ Mother. Its resurrections have a limit and at s4, the sequence in which you gain the ability to resurrect, you lose all memories upon death, which tickle back slowly.Mother is just weak. Were it not for its one saving grace of underground travel, it at s5 can reasonably be defeated by normal humans even without weapons of mass destruction. Bad attack, defense, and speed. You do NOT walk into the wizard’s sanctum. It’s already been inlaid with countless magical traps and demons and other contingencies (inb4 someone posts that incredibly cringe scene from fate/zero).
