>>97769382>and where did u get this from??TGA is an aos forum with a very active rumours thread, with 2 or 3 occasional rumormongers at any one time, the one that's been most active recently, and who's already demonstrated a track record and backing from other reliable rumormongers, has made the posts anon has pointed you to.When you parse through what's an hyperbolic assumption from an exasperated person working within GW, and what seems to be factually going on, you get that gw is greenlighting a drastic development for aos where the realms are essentially scrapped in their current form and instead rearranged into a normal planet, and also sigmar gets killed by archaon presumably this is all because aos has failed to be palatable as an IP to wider audiences despite the relative success of the models themselves, and so gw is hoping that by making the setting more conventional, grounded and grimdark, with one fantasy world and less over the top divine shit running the showso far it doesn't mean the old world and this new world are merging, or that the aos factions are significantly changing but it begs the question of what's the point of having two separate settings if at the end of the day they're doing the same shit twice and/or inconsistently limiting each other's toys
>>97769462kms
>>97769462Probably the best summary so far, well done.I'd add that Slaves to Darkness (aos' chaos warrior faction) will supposedly be getting a bunch of new stuff, possibly as a starter box, so more proxy stuff for those so inclined.
Can't wait for them to announce Kislev today or tomorrow.
I do hope one of our Yankidoodle bros will be screenshotting the Adepticon stream chat during the AoS section and getting some nice gifs of the hosts squirming. It was hilarious enough during the Trannystodes reveal, that level of anarchy combined with the delicious ironing of AoSissies getting a big stinky dose of their own medicine should be a real treat.

>>97769957>>97769966Well Mark Gibbons had that cartoonish style that really defined the Herohammer era, even his b&w unit art throughout the codexes is still my headcanon because thats when I started warhamsFWIW he later went to work for Blizzard's art department, and did a bunch of art direction for zones and tier sets.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh im literally shaking i dont want any aos in my Fantasy. i want my MTO’s and no new models.
I will be honest with you guys, I like some of the AoS alternative paint schemes for Ghouls. Having them baked in the sun is a cool concept.
>>97770453Okay? Do you think you need to be publicly validated to paint them like that?
>>97770437Which faction will get 90s metal models next as an MTO?WoC, Dwarfs?
>>97770480Early or late '90s? Because Chaos looked very different at the start and at the end of that decade. I'd be pleased with both. If they do a run of these metal marauders, I will almost certainly buy them. Maybe. Depends on how a certain shady backroom deal I have going on with a giga-grog in my community goes down.If they instead choose to do an early '90s MTO... what would that even look like? They haven't ran any of the RoC era models and I highly doubt they still have the molds for the 4th ed metal warriors and knights. If they bring back the mid-90s metal warriors, that'd be sweet and might bring down their price on the second-hand market.
>>97770519The last three were all 5th edition metals, I think, so I would guess whoever is next will be those edition metals as well
>>97770463This is a shoutbox forum Anon, you perhaps confuse it with Lead Adventure Forum if you expect people to not share their opinions randomly. If you hadn't notice yet, even the TQ serves this very purpose.
>>97770539I'm aware, but the equivocating tone of that post suggested a kind of insecurity that I'd like to shake that poster out of.
>>97770529Then frankly, I'd be more interested in a potential plastic MTO. I need more 1997 warriors and knights! About ~80 more warriors and ~20 more knights, specifically, with all the fixings and the metal bits.
>>97770627Has GW ever done a plastic MTO?The ones I can think of are terrain-related ones but I thought that might be due to terrain being manufactured in China rather than the UK
>>97770572Acknowledging it's not a popular opinion doesn't make me any less confident about liking it.
>>97770660Yes, they've done MTOs of old 40k starter sets
>>97769163This probably isnt all that important to most of you, but one thing I like about the old world rpg is that I feel like its more of a direct analog to the wargame in terms of stats. If I know a character has a 3 weapon skill that means they are a very average combatant, 4 means exceptional and 5 essentially superhuman. Then the skills give you sub increments between those degrees. 3 weapon skill with 3 melee skill makes you an average fighter, 3 weapon skill with 4 melee skill makes you better than average, but not to the extent of a knight who has trained most of his life and has a 4 weapon skill.I especially like the paired down NPC blocks in the game master's guide, they look like a good shorthand to stat out a character's general gist. I am going to be playing a little solo scenario using them and post about it latter.A little fantasy that I have is having a family of systems where you can easily transition from army fighting (old world rules) to group fighting (mordheim rules) to individual fighting (old world rpg rules) using essentially the same stat blocks for the same kind of units.
>>97770360>>97770376I think horus heresy gets a little leeway becausea) it's marineslopb) the game is incredibly kit-efficient. For the price of basically a single (albeit a large) range you get, what 18 factions? 19? And then you produce maybe 4 or 5 bespoke kits for each of those factions.
>>97770737Please James... Battle for Skull Pass... I want those old spider riders and night gobs, but not fucked up and covered in glue by some idiot off ebay
>>97770834Can't you still buy those models for AoS?
>>97770846No, the ones being sold for AoS are the very similar but not identical multibuild versions of those units from BfSP. The details and poses are different.
>>97770846>>97770907Yeah the aos ones are the multipart to bfp's mostly single piece stuff.
>>97770920Yeah, and personally I think that being monopiece is a boon for units like night goblin archers, especially when the pose is more dynamic.
>>97769163>TQThis art right here. Obsessed with it even now. The size of the Warboss is just insane!
Is there any rumors for more Chyna? That rumor engine with the trees looks like it’s invoking the bonsai tree curve, which technically originated in China.
My beasts got themselves a bvll
>>97770968Not any time soon, other than a repacked battalion box. Also the rumor engine mentioned 40k and AoS so it's for one of those systems. They wouldn't mention those two then make it a TOW unit.
>>97770982Factually wrong, they mentioned Necromunda AND AoS for this one but it was for TOW (Tomb Kings)https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/oz5gsuqr/the-rumour-engine-8th-of-july/

Is this a legal unit formation to give a Demigryph character access to Multiple Wounds Prayer through the Priest? The Demi can just glob onto the side of the unit and there are the same number of characters+dudes in the front rank, but I'm not sure if the Demi messes with what is considered the front rank.
>>97771084>but I'm not sure if the Demi messes with what is considered the front rankit does, if the base doesn't match it has to sit next to the unit, not as part of its frontal rank
>>97771025Looking their range up, yeah the trees/plants in that range are all in the same style of the rumor engine. >>97771084>>97771090He's technically not in the front rank, but he'll be in the fighting rank so he can get access to the prayer's effects and fight anyways.
>>97769462I can believe something big is coming but I doubt in the “killing the setting” rumors. >>97771090>>97771118Thanks for clarifying that he is not in the front rank, but is part of the fighting rank and would thus get the buffsAs a followup. What is the interaction where him not being considered the front rank matters?
>>97771180Really its just important so you don't have nerds adding models to the left and right of the big guy. I don't know much else that really would be impacted since "fighting rank" is what matters for most rules, not front rank.

>>97771362Schizo or leaks?
>>97771444The AoS DElf stuff got a unit squatted, but that unit shares a box with a CoS unit, so its likely they're ALL getting squatted.A leaker with a good track record has hinted DEs are coming back first. >>97771457>that unit shares a box with a CoS unitI honestly forgot CoS has any pre-3E non-human units. I thought they got rid of all the elves and dwarfs already long time ago.
>>97771466Jav (piss be upon him) is not a leaker and will never be called leaker by me or any other self respecting person. It was an oldhammer youtuber who I legit don't remember but he lives in Nottingham and claims to know people from GW. He said Vampire Counts and Dark Elves are the first Legacy armies returning.
>>97771516Somehow they hung on until now. But I believe the Empire stuff is all gone. So there's a precedent there too.
>>97771533>He said Vampire Counts and Dark Elves are the first Legacy armies returningI wonder if we should expect old FEC kits to be axed or replaced. Maybe TOW VC will simply skip Strigoi?
>>97771516They had Dark Elves on square bases still lmao
>>97771556>Maybe TOW VC will simply skip Strigoi?Possible, but I think ghouls will just be treated like Dryads where they are only sold with AoS branding but quietly included in both systems.
I've gotten my hands on a genuine Nagash miniature.Holy shit is this guys massive. Random minis for scale.
>>97771457I do think dark elves are leaving cos but I wouldn't necessarily take this as proof. The black knights also got squatted from their vampire range, yet hexwraiths are still in the ghost range despite sharing the kit. Gw just makes this shit up on the go.>>97771466I don't think so lol since jav would never "leak" something that somebody else hadn't already done before him lol.
I need some clarification. Got myself a Shaggoth and they can take mutations from a specific page and magic items. Now, with them being used in WoC as well as beastmen, can they take magic items from both army lists if I wanted to? Errata doesn't mention it.
>>97771684Yeah, it shocked me when I first saw it next to other models. I always assumed that he was just normal human sized for whatever reason.
well guys TOW lives or dies after tonight. What's your exit strategy if shit hits the fan and 40k drains the playerbase?
>>97771762>well guys TOW lives or dies after tonightWhat are you talking about? TOW isn't getting anything revealed tonight, we already know. The people playing 10th and the people playing TOW are largely not the same audience. I imagine there's way more overlap with TOW and HH players due to the nature of the games.
>>97771760It's because his model looks like you had just scaled a regular skeleton up without accounting for the change in proportions.
>>97771684>>97771760What the fuck hahahhaah. Yeah me too I thought he was a regular sized human caster. I had no idea he was a giant.
>>97771750If it's anything like using black orcs in chorfs, the shaggoth would only take magic items from the beastmen book, not the WoC one. And while not an official source, Old World Builder only lets you put beastmen items on a shaggoth, even when making a WoC list.
>>97771771at my LGS 90% of the playerbase are from 40k in the recent past, just about everyone in any tournie scene is from 40k, all influencers are, probably 80% of TOW's revenue is from 40k players buying into TOW, not WFB vets. If 40k 11th is good TOW will die overnight.
>>97771811>If 40k 11th is goodIs there a high chance of that?
>>97769163OK, finished my first solo session of Warhammer: the Old World Roleplaying Game. Had a good time! I like it overall but there are definitely some bugs. Like I mentioned, I really like how the characteristic-skills dynamic works. This is the play by play>Me, noisy argumentative watchmen, my morally flexible pal, and a Brewgaurd lent to us stumbled on a dark conclave of robbed men one day. Talking about the downfall of Talagaad>They didnt see us personally but they knew someone overheard them, one thing we recognized was an oddly specific perfume emanating from one of them>We know we are fucked if there are powerful members of that group and they look into gaurd routes of that night. So we decide to hunt them down before they can do that to us>ofc, we first track down an exotic perfume seller, thats were we start>See him being ruffed up by some thugs, Comb our hand and put on as imperious look as we can. Dress down the thugs and they try to bribe us>Bribes are well and good, but Id rather keep my throat by finding out who will be trying to be slitting ours so we fight.>First few are just normal rabble nothing to note. We put 2 handed hammer brewgaurd in front, me with halberd behind, and sketchy gotfreid on top of another stall firing with crossbow.>last two tuffs rip out of their shirt Arnold style and one is covered in brass scales, the other, iron, mutants. Fuck us up a bit, but perfumer throws (and misses) a pot of greek fire. Dwarf hammers one into the fire, I see an unarmored bit, catch the other there under the armpit with the halberd hook and throw him in as well.>watch the campfire burn, dwarf gets flung like a bearded beachball while one is in death flail>When dead, the perfumer puts a powder on the dwarves' flaming behind and the bodies>Convince perfumer to see manifest>See that a certain noble family bought the perfume.>Question now is who in the family is it, or maybe they all have to go....
>>97771811>If 40k 11th is good TOW will die overnightGuess we'll be fine then.
>>97769462TOW is still a rank&flank game, while AoS is 40k but fantasy. If anything - I'm surprised 40k and HH are a thing. They literally occupy the same niche minus xenos.
>>97771793Thanks!
>>97771811>If 40k 11th is good TOW will die overnightThen we are in no danger at all thank God.
>>97771840>I'm surprised 40k and HH are a thing.Heresy is the Grog 40k game, that plays/used to play like older editions of 40k where the rules were more complex. Not like modern 40k that needs to appeal to little Timmy. But it's also the remnants of stuff like Imperial Armour, that really appeals to the hyper-autistic 40k players. The original 30k community were niche wargamers who were fed up with having to deal with power gamers infesting mainline 40k.>They literally occupy the same niche minus xenos.Yeah, that's another reason why Heresy was so good. It cut out the worst player base.
>>97771840>>97771882Yeah TOW and HH are similar in that TOW is just Fantasy pre AoS and HH is just 40k pre 8th. I wish HH had xenos because I don't care about marines vs marines, then I would get into it too.
>>97771811>If 40k (...) is goodNone of GW's mainline games was ever good when compared with other games. Some editions were better than the others but in general even best editions of WFB and 40k were okayish at best.
The possibility of VC coming back has me looking up the old zombies too and not just the skeletons and I think they look better than the SBGL refresh too. They’re more plain in terms of details hanging off them, but that plainness enhances the horror of zombies I think.
Kislev in a few hours.
>>97772024Just get mantics stuff then. It’ll be cheaper too.
>>97772056There's no TOW news at Adepticon. We know this for a fact.
>>97772056The only thing I want from a Kislev release is some good third party STLs I can scale down to 10mm because all the current Warmaster options are a bit shit.
>>97771944Good relative to the other editions. "Good slop" if you will.I think it's a bit overstated but non 40k games do tend to get a good influx of players from 40k refugees unhappy with how the current edition plays. This applies mostly to 30k and aos for obvious reasons, but I know a few people who started playing toe because they were unhappy with, or tired of 40k's rules and tow is the most different game that still says warhammer and is a fully army game. I could see the 40k first but playing tow on the side type players move back, certainly for the first few weeks of the new edition.Conversely if 11th turns out to be shit (high chance) we'll probably get a new influx of refugees after a couple of months once the dissatisfaction sets in. And if that tk vs we box rumour is true, it could very well be that the tow team is banking on exactly that. But the release date would have to be strategically placed, like september or october (assuming 40k 11th comes in early july)
>>97772056>boot up TWW3 to look at the Kislev roster>armored kossars and tsar guard are literally the same models, zero difference>light and heavy warsleds are literally the samelmao what a fucking hackjob by CA
>>97772107> tk vs we box rumourHonestly this is the most confusing matchup I can imagine for TOW. How the fuck do you get a box set where;> both factions are neutral rather than good/evil> zero historical animosity> miles apart geographically> zero reason to fight or even be near each other> both famously use unconventional strategies that ignore large parts of the core rules> both are dominated by their special rules and are much more complex than other factionsThe rumour seems entirely based on 'these factions both need model updates' but otherwise it's an insanely bad match.
>>9777210711th is supposed to be a tuned up 10th. So it will almost certainly stay dogshit.
>>97772147The snippet for the excuse for that matchup is just >tomb kings can recharge magic or some shit from the forestsWhich just seems lazy imo and kinda keeps me disinterested in that narrative. Although I’m already having trouble caring for the bastion or whatever falling.
>>97772147They set up the matchup in the war for settras fury book. A magically tapped out Liche Priest sends his forces into Athel Loren because he senses heavy magic in the forest that he hopes to use to revive his spent legions that got heavily damaged after having to constantly fight border Prince/Dwarf forces sent to harass their advance.
>>97772123Yeah, always disliked that, was it really that difficult to make them different?

>>97772200Not him but it's personal choice if ice witch Tzarist Russia sprinkled with Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth is more distinct than Middle Eastern armies or not. >>97772207They exist as much as Ind or the Amazons. It's not like I think well of either GW's handling of Bretonnia, be the neglect or massive shift in lore from Stillman, and I'm not 100% fond of Cathay too. It's a fantasy setting that doesn't need everything to be fantasy humans.
>>97772556>I'd rather get Sea Elves from RPG than more human armies.Isn't that what one of HE AoI basically is at this point?Sea Elves aren't culturally different from High Elves from Ulthuan in any major way
>>97772147As a TK fan, I'm confused why they're in sooner than VC or especially DE. Those are much more popular armies than Brets or Beastmen. Do they want less returning players?
>>97772574both tk and brets were some of if not the most sought-after ranges in the second hand market after WHF was killed off. GW did their research.
>>97772572By now yes but I expect something of their WHRPG selves. For both what remains of WHFB and even AoS, I don't want them to get too many human factions. I've seen how the Imperium armies (especially Space Marine) cover up 40k to where Xenos players cried bitter tears over how neglected they are. I don't want fantasy races to end up like that.
>>97772609Even in WFRP, they're pretty similar as they are just High elves that live off Uthuan in either an enclave like Marianburgs Elftown or a Colony like the Elithis or the Fortress of Dawn
>>97772601>both tk and brets were some of if not the most sought-after ranges in the second hand market after WHF was killed offIs that more because their lines got discontinued, it's harder to buy 3rd party proxies because less of them exist, or because of some influx in demand that they never had before? Especially over VC and DE. They practically died around 5e (yes I know 6e exists) with how much they weren't supported.
>>97772635I can't tell you why that was, it's just what I've observed. My guess is that neither transitioned into AoS and nobody expected WHF to come back anytime soon, so demand was unusually high and sellers could basically dictate prices.
>>97772635Adding to your post, here's an old stat I saved. I forgot which site it's from but TK especially wasn't handled well. I'm surprised to see Bretonnia that high especially with how much they sucked un 8th>>97772630From what I remember, they lean more towards Mathlann but there's so little of them that they weren't even in Dreadfleet. Still, given the way they made Cathay a thing, they could branch off more.
>>97772574>why were the two armies squatted in the end times brought back first as a gesture of good will?Isn't it obvious?
>>97772678I don't know how valid those are. I found stuff like https://blackdiamondgames.blogspot.com/2011/10/warhammer-fantasy-army-popularity-2011.html before
>>97772684What
>>97772684>two armies squatted in the end timesThings that never happened
>>97772684They were neglected and Bretonnia didn't get the monster mounts Blanche art had but squatted? Wasn't that Aos?
>>97772684>replacing more popular armies with lessNTA but if this was a fighting vidya, this'd be like benching Guile or Cammy for a one time character,
>>97772730I think 3 did that
>>97772708they didn't make it in the first aos rulebookso squatted in the end times
>>97772734And it was one of the most controversial actions the franchise has ever done. AoS squatting TK and Brets has NOTHING on the sheer level of SF3. Tabletop and fighting vidya aren't one to one but pic nearly KILLED Street Fighter for many reasons including a roster that didn't have so many beloved carryovers.
>>97772751Raise a cup for ze lady?
>>97772723Iirc they went last chance to buy before aos launched. Been a while so maybe I remember it wrong. In any case the other armies survived in AoS for quite a while which they didn't get the chance for.
>>97772751>>97772769It's been a long time but I recall 1st edition AoS being a mess with joke rules. Oddly, Bretonnian archers were strangely meta due to rules simulating mass arrow spam and TK were alright instead of bottom tier.
>>97772777the joke rules were the legacy rules, not the proper rulebook
>>97772783That's still post ET though.
>>97772789They gave them pity rules but stopped selling the models
>>97772574Multiple reasons. Other anon mentioned they were basically squatted even before the game was killed. But the most important reason is that Vamp Counts were incorporated into AoS 1 to 1. GW didn't want to have two very similiar model lines imo. Egyptian skeletons are more original than horror skeletons.I don't think VCs will ever be back in TOW, since they are still army of skeletons in the end. If anything - they gonna introduce Vampire Coast army instead - and add VCs as army of infamy in following AJ.As for DE - I don't understand it either, but it probably has something to do with Daughters of Khaine in AoS.
>>97772678I too am surprised Brets are that high. Must be returning big fans or prior to 8ed because their cavalry was straight up inferior to EMPIRE cavalry. Bretonnia literally got 3 paragraphs of lore in 8ed.I found that chart https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2013/07/academic-study-of-tabletop-wargamers-the-results-are-in-part-3-wargames-and-armies-we-play.htmlSo it's still 8ed but midway through July 2013 but before 2015. I'm surprised they held on for that long.
>>97771533>Vampire Counts and Dark ElvesFUCK yes
>>97769780Poor YuriHe got bamboozled by Belakor and now he'll never get to be with his gf again
>>97772838But while they're skeletons, the rank and file have different weapons. Zombies, giant bats and other vampire exclusive forces too. I've heard they're trying to separate model lines between games but that doesn't make sense to me. There's Freeguild or what AoS calls their standard Empire soldier equivalent. Orcs, vanilla Dwarfs, Wood and High Elves, AoS has them or close enough versions that prozying would be doable. AoS also got Stormcast sales from being used as 40k Marine proxies.
>>97772911Is Daemon Yuri still crap in gameplay? Because I still remember ll the jokes that his campaign exclusive mortal unit was stronger than his DP self.
Is it a good thing or bad thing to be so strong that ascending to Daemon Prince is a NERF for you?
>>97772939I know TKs and VCs aren't exactly the same, but then again THEY ARE BOTH SKELETONS ARMIES IN THE END. Most people perceive them this way. They were one Undead army once - and when they got split, TKs were basically poor brother of the two.Vampire Coast are zombies with guns on the other hand, so not another skeleton army.
>>97772980I get the feeling this is an attempt more to attract a new crowd than old VC fans.
>>97772973Bad for gameplay, hilarious for jokes.
>>97772984That's ToW in general. How many old WHFB fans were begging for Cathay?
>>97769780>mfw they put nippon instead of kislev

do dwarves in warhammer even hate dragons because they're dragons or just because they're some elves living sex toy?
>>97772678Lol, back before end times the only 3 armies I collected were ogres, tomb kings, and beastmen. Explains why I didn't see too many of them. Well, beastmen sucked at the time as well so that might have had something to do with it.
>>97773186Because dragons are just as greedy as Dwarfs are. Dwarfs hate competition.
>>97773072>Polish Winged Lancer with a Russian Streltsi bardicheeven without the wow armour design this image is cursed
>>97772194Warmaster Kislev is actually fucking great and they're one of the most distinctive armies in the game, out of 25 rosters.Their whole thing is spamming light-medium cavalry and going full Mongol horde. They have multiple flavours of cavalry, all of whom are great but none of which are actually resilient. On the other hand you have your infantry options which at first glance seem like complete ass, but then you get to the War Wagon which is essentially mobile terrain. It's like a bunker for your infantry that is so resilient that it turns whatever shit happens to be close by into an honest anvil. So your playstyle is having these little mobile forts creeping up the table and creating strongpoints, while flooding the enemy with screaming horse archers and Winged Lancers. Also ice magic is great and the army has a random swamp monster for a pun.
>>97773207Polish armies did use bardiches but a bit smaller. But yeah, mixing Polish and Russian aescethics is kinda retarded and stupid concept.
>>97773186Dragons keep killing dwarfs and stealing all their gold. apparently dwarfs and dragons used to be friendly back in the day, so I guess the dwarfs found a way to fuck THAT relationship up too
>>97773207Bardiches were used by the Polish though more infantry than horsemen. If doing Winged Hussars on foot, we can't give them the same ultra long lances. Sabers?
>>97769382>>97769382>resuscitate aosits their second best selling line, why would they fuck with it. The leaks smell like bullshit
Give Kislev with this vibe.
>>97769462I heard one of the leakers deleted their account.
>>97773262Sorry anon, I'm in the western audience have a hard time telling countries apart besides>Asian>Slavic>EuropeanetcI once accidentally got Japan and UK mixed up before I realized they were actually the same country.
>>97773498Eh, warhammer 40k was the world's best selling miniature game when they had their lore soft reboot. AoS' realm thing is poison to secondaries and gw is trying to establish itself as an IP company and not just a wargame one.
>>97773522but then what would separate aos from fantasy as a setting? are they going to encourage using minis for both games? what the flip
One of these days I want a story of a Slaanesh Chaos Warrior who stabs people to death with their codpiece.
>>97773542Same thing that separates 30k and 40k I suppose.I think aos will still be a lot more high fantasy (so is tow I know but relatively speaking), and it looks like they're keeping the continents etc of their realms just on one flat world instead of multiple ones.
>>97773463Did the winged hussars ever fight on foot? They had swords but I bet they'd rather grab a polearm off the wall or a bardiche.
>WHFB>TOW>AoS rebrand into TLWhttps://youtu.be/i4DUWXLt7xE?t=28
>>97773597Nah they would cycle charge. They would charge in with fucking massive lances that were like 20 ft long and hollow to stay somewhat manageable. These lances would usually snap on impact, they'd draw sabers and cut down fleeing/knocked down enemies, then they'd pull back to their line to get fresh lances and do it all over again. They did use firearms sometimes too. Usually pistols.
>>97773629Did they have wings on armor or saddles? Or wings at all?
>>97773656Earlier on they were attached to the saddle and were smaller. The later larger wings were bolted onto the armor.
>>97772980While I’m most excited for the prospect of pre-refresh skeletons (don’t hate the new ones, just like the old ones better), VC is much more the Gothic Undead army. AoS cannabalizing the faction to make new ones may give the impression they’re just skeletons and vampires, but in theory a return of VC is a return of the monster mash.
>mfw Bretonnia has more monster mountsI hope we don't get complaints about how it's not what old warhammer would've given them
>>97773726I mean realistically what did aos vc lose by turning ghouls and ghosts into their own army. Like, 3 units? Ghouls, big ghouls, hexwraiths. A bunch of heroes I guess?
Daubeny
>>97773763My problem isn't with monstrous cavalry per se. My problem is them replacing the standard cavalry as they inevitably gain 'posterboy' status thanks to being inherently more elite, which makes me seethe because classic horse cavalry is infinitely more aesthetic than any roided up monster in my eyes.Happened with the demigryphs eclipsing empire knights (and as good as stealing their needed refresh).Happened with nu-kislev being Bear central, despite winged lancers being the true heart of the Kislev military.Funnily enough never happened with pegasus knights, because they're literally horse + wings so they still easily read as horses.
This super old-school chaos warrior has been sitting on my desk for years and I finally got around to painting him. I will name him Humphrey and he will almost certainly never take to the field of battle.
>>97773207For Honor lore is a clusterfuck, they have a full-blown Western Roman Empire still extant fighting side by side with early Renaissance gigachad knights with baroque armor and cannons
>>97773770If you stick with what’s in the Legacy PDF, it’s:>Cairn Wraiths>Strigoi Ghoul Kings>Tomb Banshees>Crypt Ghoul>Crypt Horror>Hex Wraiths>Spirit Hosts>Black Coach>Terrorgheist (though this is functionally a Zombie Dragon variant)There seems to be more options looking at old pictures on Lexicanum, but AoS filled amlot of those roles in with refreshes and replacements for the Nighthaunt. If you wanna be cheeky, Wood Elf Spirits and Zombies apparently being a thing in the past means James took from the VC too to make the Slyvaneth.
oh boy the absolute shambles every reveal show turns out to be makes me grateful we aren't getting something in the preview, I'd take an article drop any day.
>initiative versus instinct in the hunt for the beastTerrible tagline lol
>>97773597Bro if your heavy cavalry are ever fighting on foot you have massively fucked up
why is gw so retarded and incompetentthey have like zillion dollars
>>97773852>Happened with nu-kislev being Bear central, despite winged lancers being the true heart of the Kislev military. But Bear Cavalry was in the 8th edition rulebook. Arabyan Flying Carpets were still canon in 8th edition (and usable as magic items). Empire 8th edition Armybook clearly states that Kislev had whole ORDERS of bear cavalry in similar fashion to demigryph and bretonnian hyppogriph knights

But the idea of giant snaping tortoise as a mount an armored and tough monster more than a damage dealer. give it an a low amount of armor piercing attacks (1/2) and a stomp. it'll be the best way to give armor to a prophetess but being the downside of being a large target.

>AoS leaks were 100% correctSo this pretty much confirms AoS as a setting is on the way out. >>97776499Why'd you have to throw the last three in there man : (
>>97776202I take it you're referring to the 2004 chaos warriors. I agree whole-heartedly. Something was definitely lost in the transition between the 5th and 6th ed plastics. That's not to say that thinner and taller chaos warriors didn't exist previously though, as picrel shows, but I'm definitely not a fan of the current plastic warriors either way.Looking at the models from a historical perspective, their scale really hasn't changed that much. But my collection is still incomplete. so I'll only know how I feel about these chaos warriors for sure once I have one of every chaos warrior ever made. Then I'll paint them all and take a glorious picture that will serve as the ultimate chaos warrior scale comparison reference.
>>97776277I got my gutter runners, shut the hell up

The sun shines brightly over the green lands of sunset, awakening her favoured sons with her beams that heal their lands but scorch those of the lesser peoples.Begone, barbarous hordes of the orient, whose lands the sun strives to escape as quickly as it can. Return to 40k, a game reflecting your own nature: its only quality is its quantity!Begone, demons from the lands of shadow across the great sea. Return to Age of Sigmar, a game as polluted as your foul mixed blood, and as rotten to the core as your land of eternal decay! The men of the occident have awoken, and reclaim their thread once again. The dawn chases away the darkness.>>97776277The last of the Empire hostages have been released, dark elves are all but confirmed to return home, and even the rat-lovers have something to use. Meanwhile, 40k has gotten yet another release of slopsumer marines, while AoS has found out that the leaks about their setting going down the drain are truth. We have won, and we didn't even have to bother to show up.
>>97777107>Begone, barbarous hordes of the orientWho's gonna tell him?
>>97770822In the latter regard though TOW can still compete with 30K, because 90% of the range is and will likely remain model lines that earned back all their associated one-time costs decades ago. To GW the monetary cost of putting an old WHFB plastic kit in production can only be mere pennies per sprue, so as long as TOW is selling enough to justify the opportunity cost of not using the injection machine for something else every box they sell is basically pure profit. They only have to release enough new miniatures to keep the hypecycle running along in the background, and several armies get their "update" via Smegmar anyway if players want to make the effort.I really think people need to get their head around the reality of just how little effort and money GW need to expend to keep TOW going; they do modest production runs, much of it is Online Only(which also means GW capture more of the RRP), most of the product line is recycled WHFB models made using refurbished molds, and they can have the SGS intern do the rules stuff. Sure it gets a new product now and again, but nowhere near the volume of stuff required to keep even Heresy going, and the "efficient" kit design of the Marauders(ie, 2-3 sprues repeated to bulk up the numers) is probably going to be the standard for almost everything that does get a replacement going forward.
>>97777107>yet another release of slopsumer marinescomes to think of it, you can tell a preview show is good by how many marines they show and this one was the best in a long while and only had one marine
>>97769222>hmm Kislev in the past has always been a pretty broad combination of eastern european, slavic, and mongol cultures, should we keep that theme going for full release?>nah lets just use nothing but bears and russian shit because putin riding a bear is EPIC!
Goddamn what a terrible reveal, and all the dogshit leaks turned out to be true. WFB really dodged a bullet there.
I own pic related and a bunch of 6e/7e army books, I'd like to start building an army but buying old models is kind of a pain. Can I use TOW miniatures for WHFB armies? From what I understand TOW models have larger bases but that shouldn't be a big deal, right? I've never actually collected/painted any rank & flank armies, so any kind of advice is appreciated.
>>9777750620mm moved up to 25mm and some (but not all) 25mm minis moved up to 30mm, bestigors for example are now on 30, Gors are still on 25 and ungors were bumped up to 25 as well. Not sure about the other armies
>>97771821Sounds very cool anon, did you use an oracle? I'd like to try a solo session for WFRP 2e but i'm still not sure about how to proceed
>>97777525Thanks. So, theoretically, I could buy pic related to start a Beastmen list and, despite some of the bases being bigger than the WHFB version, it would still be a totally playable army, correct?
Pistoliers are alright but it's a real shame that there exists nothing between that and empire knights
>>97777483Yeah. >fat, bloated greatswords>cogforts are retarded versions of the landship to sell more centerpieces>footknights that make Bretonnia's look only like shit instead of complete shitThe female giant was cute. But it was overall really good, because MESBG finally got infantry command for their troops a year later, and finally updated riders of Rohan sculpts. This also means Wildmen of Dunland can have banners now which is awesome no more Rohirrim traitor tax.
>>97777631Fair enough, the MESBG stuff was alright. Though them taking this long to do that is not a great sign for the system.

Im low IQ and can't decide between wolf or spider riding goblins.Am I correct that wolves are a generally better chaff unit due to faster speed and Fire and Flee, whereas Spiders are generally better into high toughness low save elites due to poison, but that overall there's tremendous overlap and its much of a muchness?
>>97777866Spiders are there to move through terrain and try to attack but flee when shot because they're goblins.Wolves are for moving around shooting then running away at first shot because goblins.
>>97777818The grenadiers look fine, good even (might need a headswap to be used in fantasy, but the poses and weapons are very solid). The wizards look uninteresting. The cogforts look exactly how you would expect them to. The giants are filler. The warrior priest looks okay. "objectively" its an okay release, for CoS its a good release because it helps flesh them out as a coherent visual identity and faction rather than "leftover WHFB stuff the army".

>>97777931I'm still upset the cool multicultural army with vibrant schemes and ripe for conversions with tons of coalition units was replaced by fat people in discount generic medieval larp gear. Also they're all humans, you'd forget they still have the Dark Elf range in it at this point.
>>97777947>cool multicultural armyIt was literally never more than a cynical ploy to mash together leftover kits while raping all the ranges from the start. If you fell for it and confused it for an actual army that's on you.
>>97777957Not my fault it was way more interesting.
A skirmish game would be awesome. Lets choke AoS till out flies a small little spectre into ToW for at least one skirmish game.
>>97777882Fixed it

>>97777972I know. I think dusting off Mordheim and giving it the Necromunda treatment would be awesome. Too bad Necromunda got the last gasp of goodslop from GW.
Why are there no more TOW reveals? Is the game dead?
>>97777947>discount generic medieval larp gearI wish it was generic medieval larp gear, the armour CoS cunts wear is some unholy shit. Forget the Epstein list, give me the list of modern GW sculptors.
>>97777990Yeah, the reboot flopped pretty hard despite getting a completely new army to attract tww secondaries. I guess people don't want to buy 20 year olds sculpts at premium prices either.

What about that feather teaser they revealed? AND WHAT OF THE MIGHTY FORTRESS RELEASE?
>>97778045Could I interest you in a warmaster? 10mm games are where rank and file games can truly shine. Personally I found 28-32mm a bane for anything other than a skirmish.

>>97778157>Judging by Cathay if anything the minis will be better.Tww had a better interpretation so far
>>97778100the total war sleds only have magical ice because the total war units have to run on all sorts of terrain, meanwhile in fantasy 100% of kislev fags will put snow on the bases>but anon gw cannot expect every little timmy to use the snow basing, they'll give them sculpted magical ice effects still, they will likely make the ice optional just like they made the new ork's booster effects optionalno hope on the sleds being pulled by horses though, on that you can doom and gloom about bears

>>97778190Jade warriors lost a little bit more cloth than i would have likedShoulder pads are kinda distractingly dogshit Neck thingamajig is also bad but this can probably be ignored, not like it’s noticeable when playing, still wis it could fully envelop the face to somewhat obscure their faces. Musician and banner men are not to my tastes. Something about the drummer looks forced. Weapons are overall ugly Miao is ugly Miaos dragon is ugly and I can’t stop seeing the dark elf dragon in its skeleton. Peasants kinda lost their youth. I’m probably the minority here but I kinda wish they stuck with them being early 20 year olds, kinda had their own vibe going on ya know? Now it’s just kinda overdetailed. Everything about astromancers are awfulOh and my biggest complaint. The sexes. They’re kinda meaningless now compared to tww.
So is there any way we can reasonably incorporate that walking tower into the better setting? Maybe as a tilean not-DaVinci contraption in the vein of birdmen? I'm warming up to these things.

>>97778339I headcanon the aos freeguilds to be essentially the look of the border princesbut if you want a precedent for an imperial walking tower, it's somewhere in 8th edition, if I remember correctly, either the basic rulebook or the armybook
>>97777163I agree, tow is probably incredibly cost efficient to produce for them. I think this is why they were so surprised by its initial reception, I really don't think they were expecting 3 decade old kits to actually move, well at least at first, I expect that to have died down a bit. But yeah I mean even cathay was designed in collaboration with CA, and probably so was kislev, tow has gotta be an incredibly low investment to profit range because they already did the investment 30 years ago.
>>97778415They don't get enough food to get that bloated and fat.

>>97778482They're volleyguns. They look retarded in real life too.
>>97778415>I headcanon the aos freeguilds to be essentially the look of the border princesThis is where I'm at, too. Once you get rid of all that app icon heraldry, women, brownies and silly helmet ornamentation, some of it is surprisingly salvageable. I'd style the walking tower as either a mobile raider base or a nomadic fortress in a land of scarse resources and ubiquitous dangers. Not sure how efficient such a thing would be given the energy required but who the hell cares?
I think they are going to get around the lizardmen model problem by adding amazons as a fantasy version of sisters of battle -yes i know sisters of sigmar is a thing in Mordheim- where they can use lizardmen motiffs and have a lustria rep but also offer something a bit different. They've brought them back in Bloodbowl and we all know GW uses specialist games to test the waters for new shit in their wargames.
>>97778503Thats a no and a no, but thanks for your retarded advice lmao

>>97778506>Not sure how efficient such a thing would be given the energy required but who the hell cares?if the border princes have them, they must not be particularly advanced technology, so I'd be inclined to suggest they're powered by magic rather than conventional steam engines, so we can handwave the energy requirements.the border princes could act as a safe haven for wizards that defy the colleges and could put their unsanctioned and more dangerous practices to use to defend their own wizard towers and power these other ones.

>>97779707I think the idea with the CoS ones is that rather than make many barrels they have drilled multiple holes through a length of solid steel bar. It's plausible if they have hard enough drilltips but it would weigh a ton.

>>97779860average dwarf sissy when he sees a finely crafted mechanism.
>>97779512Nope, it's generic mercenary art from the dogs of war book, not a named Tilean regiment. You'd know that if you owned the book, and you'd also know that 'Dogs of War' is a catch-all for mercenaries from all over the warhammer world, and the Tilean/Estalian elements are simple one aspect. If you owned the 'War of Settra's Fury' book, or just knew any of the lore, you'd know the Border Princes are defined by minor human powers from empire/bretonnia/southern realms fighting each other and against orcs and other foes, so yes it absolutely overlaps with Tilea and Estalia from the get-go. The Renegade Crowns rules also encompass origins of characters from Tilea, so calling this or that 'Tilean' is irrelevant. You might as well say apples don't belong on trees, because an apple isn't the same thing as a tree.

>>97781696I hare GW refreshes. Because GW takes a dated kit that needs updating, yes, but they fuck them. They remove the ease of building and kitbashing to make retarded monopose bullshit.Compare the ease of the old warriors of Rohan (clip from frame, clean mouldlines, done) with the new sculpts that had like 8 pieces now and they're still monopose and if you want to convert you got to use the knife anyways.

>>97781844>Is it worth the added cost and hassle for essentially the same thing? It's not, the new Riders look much much better. And now they fit the same scale as the rohan infantry they released like 1.5 years ago.
>>97781892They are the same thing: monopose kit of 6 cavalry with fixed load outs.I'm not saying it doesn't look better, but I'm saying it's not worth it. Just gonna keep the ones I have.
>>97781909I'm not saying you should replace them either. Just that the new scale was sorely needed because they already refreshed the infantry. The old ones don't look bad, but the new ones do look better imo. Unless your plan was to hunt down the remaining few old rohan infantry boxes in the wild, it was hampering people wanting to do Rohan lists.
>>97781909It's worth it to people who want the best looking miniatures. I build and collect miniatures and I want them to be visually pleasing to myself. That is quite literally the goal of my entire hobby.

>>97781813>>97781219>>97780969these two are what I'm currently working on. reposing that ancient metal beast is not exactly easier or less time consuming than cutting up a plastic monopose kit or kitbashing a war machine. Fix my retarded autism anons.>love orcs to bits>first army when was a young teen, classic rules arguments and all>come back to them years later in TOW>removed animosity>OCD over their army "changes">feel like im "cheating" and not playing the actual orc army >but fucking love playing them again x years laterIts dumb, its stupid, and i need to be shitposted to help my OCD
>>97783108I never played the older editions but Impetuous + Frenzy is pretty similar to animosity, no? Like a shrimplified version of it.
Question for the Grogs: how was Storm of Chaos received at the time and do you think it was a good plotline, without comparing it to End Times.
>>97783156SORT of. Animosty you role for each cavalry/infantry unit start of each turn. 1 you got a 1/6 chance to attack a friendy, 4/6 to stay still, 1/6 to afvance toward the enemy.
>>97783212It was received awfully cause chaos got trashed but GW kept giving them the win narratively when results showed they didnt even break through the north. People loved when archaon got trashed mind.
>>97783259Da kick felt round da worlds.
>>97783249I'd say if you want to roll on the table just do it. If whoever you're playing against doesn't let you do it they're not worth playing against. It's all about having fun after all.
>vampirism is a semitic parasite plague primarily inflicted on the old world through the (((von carstein))) familyWhat did GW mean by this?
>>97783311Who knows, ask the pygmies!
Painted an elf. Might rebase for Midgard later.
>>97782263Help me out here because I have no idea what you meant by this. Like I made it up a year and 1997 and 1999 would be too obvious or something? I'm genuinely lost.
>>97783697I think hes doing the 6 and 7 meme.
>>97783834...without the 6?
>>97783852a 9 is just an upside down 6 when you really think about it.
>>97780530Yeah they don't look like AoSlop because that shit has modern elements, ahistorical armour and jankiness that make it more at home in 40k than the old world
>>97781844They really should bring back an army of infamy that lets you mix slaanesh WoC with dark elvesMakes for such an awesome looking army
>>97783108None of the armies really have any faction flavor anymore. Well, Undead kind of feel like Undead, but that's about it. The last unique thing Orcs had going on for them were the Choppas rule, but now every faction in the game can have it with a magic banner. Shit sucks.
>>97784120Chaos doesnt have demons. Also no, slaanesh looks like shit.
So it turns out dragons are still very much scary and brutal even with all the changes. The "just bring a level 1" strat worked well though, he got off his battle frenzy when it mattered and then fucked off to not die, so thats good. The enemy level 3 meanwhile did little of note all game. "Magic is for losers and is bad now" vindication.
>0 old world releases from adepticonThe cockfort guys are laughing at us
>>97784367I think magic is in a mostly good spot right now.Yes, the listed casting values are a bit high, because GW wrote them with the expectation you'd be getting +3 or +4 to your rolls, but overall, it's good that magic doesn't feel like a necessity to lists and you don't feel overly punished when you don't bring a wizard. The fated dispel is also a great touch.
>>97784385Anon we knew about this for a couple weeks already from the preview announcement.
>>97784367Show me the dragon with the rider
>>97784397The issue is that because of said "spells were written with +3/4 in mind" aspect spells just feel really weak (or rather, feel really inconsistent to get). Magic in TOW was already pretty limiting in terms of what and when you can cast stuff. I do like not having to take a wizard, but seeing a level 3 do about as well as a level 1 feels wrong.
>>97784408This guy? (he had a "proper size" base template, we just took it away when he got to combat because it looked bad and the hill made it awkward anyways)Currently making a version of him on demonic mount, that ill probably end up using quite a bit more on account of the whole "the dragon version might be a bit cheesy" thing.
A nice cinematic shot taken by my opponent. From the perspective of the brave defenders of what we decided was the Salzberg (well, salt hill, but I think Salzberg sounds better). That little deathstar of warrior priest + razor standard BSB + captain (and a wizard for support) was rather scary, although once the dragons got into combat (and stopped whiffing) it got chased off the board in due order. One thing we didnt really get a good answer for (not that it mattered this time) was how multiple wounds stacks. Does the warrior priest make the dragon bow 4 damage? 3 damage (my thought +1 2 times, effectively), or do multiple instances of "multiple wounds (2)" simply do nothing, in the same way that having "strikes first" or "poison attacks" or "ward save(5+)" doesent help you any?
>>97784565And a shot from the start of his turn 2, before his steam tank got brutalized by my chosen and warpfire dragon (did 9! wounds in one round to the thing, I was shocked)
>>97784565>>97784584Kino table/shots.
