>>97782262>>97782227Oh, look, squirrelfag is back, contributing nothing but autism.
Re: brackets. I agree there should be a bracket 3.5. Btw let 1 only exists to encourage people to buy wizards’ pre-cons to jump into the game but that bracket should be downgraded/sidegraded to Bracket K (for kindergarten)Bracket 1 is home crafted decks with zero game changers or land destruction and less than 4 tutors of any type including green land ramp. That means only 4 land ramp cards for green. Bracket 2 should be what bracket 3 isBracket 3 should be what is now commonly called 3.5 where it’s more gearing for the win, more tutors and up to 5 game changersBracket 4 would stay the same since there are no limits And bracket 5 is cEDHAdditionally they should scrap game changers and brackets for a points system like Canadian Highlander, and lower brackets can have a points maximum.

New cards dropping for the most annoying guy at your LGS
>>97783152I think they're both replacement effects so no
>>97783152Nah, so basically it's one act to create the tokens and these are called replacement effects. To give an example>Go to create a Blood Token>Stridehangar sees it and changes the action to creating a Thopter and a Blood>Donnie sees it and changes it to Blood, Thopter, and MutagenThey don't go back and see it again because it can only be affected by each replacement once.
>>97782932>And how many official mtf characters does Pokemon have again?Uhhhh... in gen 3 Azurill sometimes changes sex when it evolves into Marill due to a programming error, IIRC. Only example I can think of.
>>97783152This AI art is so ugly
>>97783179I hope Gen alpha and Z let Deadpool die a cringe death he deserves. Deadpool and Deadpool fags are so fucking obnoxious (and not remotely funny)
>>97782556>ai sloppa too!Check out my snake then.
>>97782044If you were a jujutsu sorcerer, what spell represents your domain expansion?
>>97783152Both of these cards have replacement effects, which you can identify by the "If [event] would happen, [modified event] happens instead" wording. They are not triggered abilities (which would start with "When," "Whenever," or "At"). Under Magic: The Gathering rules (specifically Rule 614.5), a replacement effect gets only one opportunity to alter a specific event. They cannot continuously loop or "see" the new tokens to re-apply themselves. Here is how the interaction actually plays out:Let's say a spell or ability causes you to create a normal token (like a 1/1 Goblin).Donatello, the Brains applies its replacement effect: Instead of just a Goblin, you create a Goblin plus a Mutagen token. Because a Mutagen is an artifact token, the event is now creating an artifact. Stridehangar Automaton applies its replacement effect: Instead of a Goblin and a Mutagen, you create a Goblin, a Mutagen, plus a 1/1 Thopter token. Both cards have now applied their replacement effect to this single token-creation event. The chain stops. You get a solid burst of value out of a single token drop, but the game rules strictly prevent replacement effects from infinitely feeding into each other.
>>97783219He's cute. I don't know why he brought an elf, she seems to be stealing the focus of the image, but she's not too bad to look at either. Would feed both of them a rat.
>>97783230First, explain the concept of a "domain expansion" to me. To my mind playing a new land is expanding your domain but I sincerely doubt some battle shonen is going to work like that.
>>97783230
>>97783230>>97783247Domain Expansion is the ultimate, high-risk, and supreme technique in Jujutsu Kaisen that creates a separate, enclosed space (barrier) from the user's innate mental landscape. It guarantees that all cursed technique attacks within it land with 100% accuracy, providing a massive tactical advantage that generally guarantees victory against opponents.

>>97783309I wish mtg would get a fucking clue after highguard went down
>>97783269I'm curious, what makes it high-risk? It seems like making all your moves (I'm assuming "cursed technique" is the equivalent of "jutsu" or "ki technique") guaranteed hits is a pretty one sided interaction.
>>97783312Reminder that talking about potential UB is never off-topic
>>97783287Demon Slayer UB would be kino as would JJK but no doubt we're getting UB Kpop demon hunters first.

>>97783316Arc raiders's artstyle is extremely woke and queer. So maybe wotc should copy that instead of highguard which only failed because of the art style and not because of the gameplay
>>97783346>Arc raiders's artstyle is extremely woke and queer. In what respect? Did you mean to type Marathon?
>>97782932I think the only one where it's heavily implied is literally just a joke one where a Lady Trainer Class character in one of the battle buildings says she used to be a Black Belt (which I think at the time was an all male Trainer Class) so it's more like Poison than it is anything else.
>>97783355Nintendo won. Marathon lost.
>>97783355Ahh the typical "it's successful therefore it can't be woke" cope. Fucking retard
>>97783328It requires a massive amount of cursed energy (mana) and can be countered with techniques like Hollow Wicker Basket or Simple Domain from the new shadow school. Basically if you use it and don't manage to get the W, you're manaless and exhausted for the rest of the fight.
instead of talking about whatever you guys are talking about right now post some art
>>97783438This is because it exhausts the part of the brain that handles magic. However, later sorcerers figure out that if you give yourself brain damage there and regen the whole thing you can spam Domain.

I'm trying to build a modern EDH deck with this cutie. My last deck was a Feather deck but everything else is as old as dirt and gimmicky (Blue Braids politics, G/W Selvala Hatebears, U/W Hannah voltron, B/W Teysa stax and toolbox, and G/R Xenagod 'this deck is actually about fling not just fatties') what kind of stuff can I do with Giada that isn't just slamming down angels until I scoop because angel tribal doesn't have any support as far as I know. I'm already thinking about tossing Momo for more cost reduction and the 2 1 drop angels because it's pretty lame not really doing much in the early game other than trying to ramp up. I'm leaning towards maybe low to the ground control with stuff like Thalia. For reference the last time I looked at cards was the first Theros Block

>>97783879That's kind of fun, I have a slightly similar theme with my Judith, Carnage Conisseur deck which is a lot about the really inefficient "anybody can prevent/get a bonus from this card" that are common in commander EG Mob rule, Prisoner's Dillema, game of chaos, mana clash, etc. and then using Judith's spell lifelink to keep me around for long enough to cast the rest of them.

>>97785333It would be yeah, but I think WoTC considers Backgrounds a "Draft" mechanic so they wouldn't put it into anything that wasn't another commander draft set, which disappoints me greatly because backgrounds are really cool and solve a big problem with the Partner mechanic.>>97785348Letting you partner with any legendary equipment would be cool to print on a specific commander, but I also wish we'd get more Partner-style cards with other card types. Like a Creature that Partners with an Artifact or a Planeswalker that partners with a creature, etc. Feels like wasted space to not explore and we've already tested the waters for something like that with Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar tutoring the book out of the deck on ETB, which is functionally worse partner because you can permanently kill the book which is functionally the other half of the card. The line between "Tutors on ETB" versus "Partners with" is kind of thin, and I think there's a lot of merit to exploring that kind of space since the downside of being able to partner with an equipment or enchantment is that you can't toolbox the same way "ETB dig for an equipment" but with the upside of well, having that thing be recurable without any extra hoops to jump through.

Is stax ok in b3? Seems a little too gay for it. Not that it couldn’t be stopped but I played one dude who had a gaddock and the next lobby he joins with some other blue stax. He quit when I used reprieve to send back whatever that stupid planeswalker is that doesn’t let people search libraries Now I’m all for shutting down green land ramp and think it needs to be checked big time and it’s worse than general tutoring but that wasn’t quite appropriate for a bracket 3 room. So he quit. Then the next player and I both played demonic tutors and along with the other player who was a magic OG from 93 had a great game. But I usually just see stax in b4 games which I can shut down with counterspells and so on but lower levels I play white/black tribal stuff it’s more chill modeHow do you best hose 1. green land ramping every turn (with land tutors) and 2, stax? In lower brackets? I run acid rain in b4 and other stuff and again counterspells. But these 2 things seem to get free reign in bracket 3 for now
I'm going to post some custom cards next thread. Something for my friends here to look forward to.

>>97786359the issue with stax is that you draw the ire of the board only to "not lose"; compare to cedh rogsi where you also draw the ire of the pod but that's because you threaten to win t1-t2, the same logic applies to the lower brackets and so you're better off just comboing off instead of grieifing the pod for the sake of it>How do you best hose>1. green land ramping every turn (with land tutors)i recommend not playing to the board (because ramp will beat you there in sheer size) which means you go burn/combo off>2. stax?you don't really have to think about it because your other 2 opponents will help you beat stax
>>97786359>Is stax ok in b3Nah, B3 is like the new power level 7, most things go. The way you approach stax is the same though, identify stax player then rally the 2 other players and knock out the stax player because they are playing on a different axiom than the three of you.
>>97782945And Elesh Norn could just drive an oil spike in it before it gets near her, because by that logic Norn can also fight four lions at once.Again. The creatures/walkers on the cards are NOT the actual creature. Just a very crude reflection of what you remember.it's a retarded argument on your part too since if you argue that she's 1-for-1 represented in the card then that 1/1 snake dies as soon as it gets near her automatically.
>>97786618I was it Gathering Dark or one of the other Ice Age cycle books with Jodah that explained the in-universe concept of summoning Legends and how they're like animated story fragments brought to life by Mama and memory and not actually the real creature? That was always a cool concept and I wish they still took the time to try to narratively explain game concepts and mechanics. Like as I recall that series also explained what discard effects and manaburn actually feel like for mages to experience, as well as tutors and mill and token creature creation.
To play stax you need a high charisma stat and be good looking, if you're a loser and play stax you'll just be ostracized for it.
>>97786703They reinforced that kind of take in 1999 with Loran's Smile, which got republished online in 2014 on the WotC website, where they also clarified how the different colors of mana manifest into different creatures (or enchantments, in blue's case there). It's a bittersweet and good story, so I'd give it a read. The thing that I want to know is how the game explains Entomb-like effects. For creature-only ones, I can sort-of see it as just creating a dead body. Defeats the point of necromancy, but it's forgivable given everything else. What I don't get is how that works for non-permanent cards. Hell, Surveil annoys me for a similar reason.

So I'm seeing mixed responses on this.>have light paws>cast Spectra Ward and attach to her>light paws ability activatesSo I'm seeing some people claiming you CAN attach auras to her with her ability, but you CANNOT cast auras and attach them to her. So basically if you cast an aura and attach it to another creature, the light paws ability still activates and can still search for an apply an aura to her.Is this correct or not?

>>97787464You could search up the aura and attach it (protection prevents targeting, Light-Paws ability doesn't target), BUT the aura would immediately fall off and go into the graveyard as protection also makes auras fall off (I suppose you could grab a colorless aura if there is one).
>>97787491What's a secret commander
>>97787495Uh, ignore the bit about auras falling off, Spectra Ward has a clause to counter that, gotcha.
>>97787502A card in the 99 that you make an effort to specifically find and play most games. In this case, it would be through search/tutor effects.
>>97787464>protection from colors, this effect doesn't remove aurasYes, Light-paws' ability does not target and the aura it grabs does not target. If you cast one, it would need a target and so cannot target light-paws.Spectra ward specifically even has a different reminder text for its version of protection that excludes 'cannot be enchanted', the issue is getting around the targeting, which Light-paws does. If there was another effect like Ardenn that didn't target, it would also work; but I can't find one.
>>97787502the commander you're actually building the deck around but can't be in the command zone for some reason (usually because you want to play some wider color combo)so his suggestion is a deck that technically has terra as the commander, but actually revolves around sephiroth. presumably so he can flip sephiroth, kill him, then reanimate him; and maybe also have access to a bunch of other tech in WBR that he wouldn't in mono-black.

>>97787344>One player does this insane mull where they look at ten cards and "bottom three", not shuffle, just puts them on the bottom. That's the Houstan mulligan, and it's the most patrician type of mulligan. >>97787615You don't need some fancy mulligan. The normal mulligan rules are good enough. It is just players are fucking bad at keeping playable hands and deck building. I've seen players mull over and over again for a "good hand". There is being a fucking casual game and then there is being someone who disregards the rules of the game.
>>97787615it's the mulligan designed for and by the most greedy of deckbuilders
>>97787626Sometimes, even if you have the most optimal deck and manabase count, you will get flooded or screwed. When playing a game with 4 others for potentially 1-2 hours, why have someone who has a bad hand keep it, or mull down where they are at a disadvantage? It's a casual format after all. Let everyone have at least a decent full hand and play. This is what that mulligan is for.

>>97787344As the other anon said, it's a group issue. You can find good players that know the rules and can play at a good pace, but at the same time it also attracts a lot of casuals who apparently can't comprehend abstract rules or mechanics.>"Does protection let my creature survive this boardwipe?">"Does hexproof?">"But it protects from sacrifice, right?"
>>97788369Fetch a good artpiece and a card that goes well with him and I'll do it.
>>97788582I was more interested in seeing your interpretation of what card fit Kilik.
>>97787121X adds to a cmc/mv after being defined. So for something like Fireball (XR), define X as 1 for example. X being 1 makes it a 2cmc/mv spell. From there, it's treated as normal for the Trinosphere effect, and gets 1 added to the total cost (total cost modifiers are added after everything, that's also why Rakdos, Lord of Riots can reduce the cost of X spells).TL;DR: Under 3 cost after X? Pay until 3.
>>97787344>>Suggest I puck up the newest 5 color deck>>Deck has the worst manabase I have ever seenThe newest is the Ninja Turtle precon, which has a decent manabase. What is this LARP?
>>97788365If you really just need to get a job and do something, join the military. But if you actually want to do something with your life, find something your passionate about and find a way to improve it, then make it available to people and charge people for it.
>>97788679While I do feel honored, I have trouble finding good art for Kilik. So it's either I am at least provided with an artpiece that fits a magic card in both style and format, or it isn't happening.
>>97788365Not your blog faggot
Mishra's pothole maker machine1ArtifactHyper Ward (counters even uncountable spells) - Exile a nonbasic land you control. Lands entering and leaving the battlefield can't cause abilities to trigger.
>>97787731yes
>>97788799>join the military.Kek fuck right off>find something your passionate aboutYeah that was kind of the whole “spent years of my life getting highly qualified” thing. I didn’t choose a field I didn’t like. Passion doesnt pay the bills.
>>97789026if it makes you feel any better, I've been in the same hole for 10 years, it's not going to get better but you become numb to itgonna run out of inheritage in 5 more years
>>97789052>if it makes you feel better, things can only get worseUh…no that does not make me feel better
>>97788409I run "good card" tribal.
>>97789026>>97789074Man, fuck off you blogposting faggot. We're here to talk about a card game, not be your personal therapist.
cunning nightbonder + creature teferi means all my creatures also cost (1) less, right?
>>97789317No because it's "as though they had Flash" which is different from having Flash.
>>97789385that's orrery, teferi says "creature cards you own that aren't on the battlefield have flash"
>>97785536>>97785647Nothing is stopping you from proxying though.>But I want it to be real!True, but if people would refuse to play with you proxying a real but unavailable card then they are losers anyways.
>>97785647Soulherder party blink would be fun
>>97788679You are so lucky I had nothing better to do.
>>97789401Then yes it works.
>>97789543Well done!
>>97787209>Despite the fact that the top part is explicitly saying that the rules are partially vibe based.that makes as much sense as vibecoding and is to be disregarded accordingly>decks to be mechanically focused with some cards chosen to maximize creativity and/or entertainment(You) can never know what one's creative limit is and how low of a bar someone has to be entertained so trying to enforce that is a wash>win conditions to be incremental, telegraphed on the board, and disruptiblethat's just the logical conclusion of a bracket which has>to play at least 8 turns before anyone wins or loses, aka no infinites/i win the game/locks before your turn 9the vast majority of wincons that will only go online at your turn 9 are so vastly telegraphed only a blind person can't see it>gameplay to be low pressure, proactiveyet another consequence of bracket 2 having a very generous turn 9 combo turn>and considerate, letting each deck showcase it's planand what if my plan is to be an evil gay dragon walker ticking up to victory as i ham it up being the archenemy? not letting me wipe the board every turn is (You) not being inclusive to larping evil doers tsk tskTLDR the only hard lines that can be followed are the zero GCs and the turn X combo turn, cope
>>97789645You'd need to start with a different planeswalker because the pic you posted is a bratty bottom that takes it up the butt from Ugin.
>mfw i see people actually use shitty scrub mulligan variants like houston and RECOMMEND ITwhy not just wear your embarrassing greediness on your sleeve and just do unlimited free mulligans at this pointyou casuals can do whatever you want in your basements but never at any point think your hot takes will ever be taken seriously
>>97787731What's wrong with moxfield now?
>>97789701I routinely recommend Hearthstone mulligan but too many people are afraid of self-reporting that they sent lands back and got fucked.
>>97788937>sorcery>until end of turn>pointless lifegain>draw is the only worthwhile thing on the whole cardOh boy! Draft chaff!
>>97789768Yes commons tend to be shit on purpose and WotC says it's for draft
>>97789786then bring back draft packs
>>97789786MH commons were good. Gift of the Viper is G, instant, untap target creature, put a +1/+1 counter on it, deathtouch counter, reach counter
>>97789841Because that was a MH set meant to ruin Pauper at the same time.
>>97789841MH was a set explicitly to inject shit into longer lived formats. I'm not necessarily defending bad or boring commons, but some of them are there to hold up decks in limited and sealed and those formats can suck badly without them.
>>97785647In a similar vein, I desperately want this card for Zurzoth.
>>97782056This deck is insanely clunky sometimes, but it's absolutely a blast when it starts firing.
>>97789701>tfw I draw 8 in my opening hand>never really win because I’m just fucking around
>>97790500I really wonder how people get away with this. I'm always autistic about my opponents and keep a close eye to their cards just so I know how and when to react properly and have caught simple mistakes many times but none to this decree except once when a random asian kid was clearly cheating and I called that shit out stat
>>97790528You may be autistic, but your perception and sleight of hand skills are ass. It also helps that I naturally pass, land and go the first 2 turns.
>>97790541>your perception and sleight of hand skills are asswow, they are? I wonder how you dissected that from a single sentence over the internetalso, you will never pass btw
>>97789142Youre the one crying here, anon
>>97788365Try harder. I've got my specialization for 9 months now and haven't got any hits, but I need to try harder.
>dude to my right was playing a blinged-out Super Shredder deck with all the full arts and game changers and shit>kicked his ass with the bumbleflower precon
>>97790775>blinged deck = good player/deckok
>>97790775>tfw huge rabbitbro but hate all the rabbit commandersClosest I came was a meme Baylen non-creature token build
>>97791025I hate rabbits. They're stupid prey animals full of disease. Fuck em where they lay.
>>97791025I'm the same with rats. Most of the rat deck shticks are just done better with other tribes, mostly goblins. Also doesn't cost as much to get a krenko as it does a marrowgnawer.
>>97791041>(you)
>>97791041stinky coyote paws typed this post
>>97790582>never passWhat are you on about tranny
>>97790767Glad to hear you’re loving that grind. I couldn’t agree more that it should be as hard as fucking possible to convince a company to let you wage slave for the next half century so you don’t end up homeless
>>97791041>animals full of diseaseThis is all animals. Including Humans.
>>97790775>Super Shredder deckThis sounds ungodly boring. Yes, Super Shredder is strong. He is also extremely boring and does nothing interesting. He just gets big and has some evasion. It sucks none of the Shredders make very good commanders.
>>97789701If the 3 others disagree with you then it doesn't really matter because you lost the vote 3 to 1
>>97791352>ifit's easy to break any made up rule a casual can think of so that they start frothing at the mouth (generous mulligans? just combo off lol), the point is anyone sane would never put up with such terminally whiny people
>>97791366Then don't come alone to the shop. Bring friends.
>>97791379>bring friends so you can collude in the gamelolanyways it's actually easier for me to find an lgs that plays only cedh than pure timmy b1, probably because i don't live at the east coast
>my brother has finally acquired a modicum of goodness after begging me for years and ignored all my advice>he's now kicking the shit out of his playgroup
>>97789701Houston mulligan sounds way worse than the current London mulligan we use, am I crazy?
>>97789701>Go to lgs>Draw 7>Want to mulligan? Set the hand aside and draw 7 more, repeat until you have a hand you want to keep and shuffle the pile you set aside and put them on the bottomWorst I've ever seen
>>97791504so...the old mulligan system?
>>97791519Was it? Good, it was really fucking shit.
>>97791524It was significantly faster. That was the positive.>guy has to mulligan to 4>we have to wait while he shuffles, asks us to cut, and then draws his hand like 4 fucking times
I once played with a group that didn't allow mulligans but before you shuffled you tutored out 3-5 lands, your choice, and put them in your hand. The only rule was the lands couldn't have any abilities outside of tapping for 1 mana. So basically just basics or shitty taplands. Then you'd draw up to 7.
Do you feel like alternate versions of cards should have appropriate creature types?>>97791597Cool
I think it's so bummy that I need to run either Akiri, Line-Slinger or Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder if I'm planning on running picrel Mardu Aristocrats
>>97791651didn't realize he was from tarkir
My pizza bundle had waste not and supremacy verdict I'm gonna kms

>>97791707It was $80 from the lgs and still felt like a massive loss
>>97791714>80That's like less than wholesale.
what's the best commander for backgrounds.dec? is it leonardo since you can run 5c? something with yoshimaru and/or roghrak so you can get your commander(s) out cheap?

>>97791792here you go
>>97791691How did you not die of cringe making this post?
>>97791820funny story back in the day when wotc still archived their articlesthere was this article from Matt Cavotta "Dwarfosis" a long time ago that explained their difficulty of making 'realistic' dwarves, and why dwarves were so were pre-kaladeshThey would start with a classic-style dwarf then ask themselves questions like>dwarves live in tunnels where you can't swing an axe, so they have to be using spears>not much food underground so they will be more gaunt less chubby>they would have bigger more pronounced ears to hear danger in the dark>they would have bad posture from hunching due to low ceilings all the time>they would have bigger noses to smell gas pocketsand then they realized they have a classic-style goblin insteadfunny how they were tripping themselves over realism for one reason and now are tripping over themselves for realism for a more retarded reason
