The fire king gate in solo mode is also a good example of how terrible its AI can be, the last mission in that particular gate makes you fight a near full power mermail deck that actually runs staples (ash, maxx, cbtg, impermanence), but unless you brick (or your deck is shit) or they roach you, it's almost impossible for you to lose. It doesn't know how to properly use its resources, i've seen it shit out its entire deck just to endlessly link climb into abyssalacia and coral until he loops all its copies, which makes it miss lethal sometimes. It's also completely incapable of going first despite mermail being infamous for its barrier statue lock.

You can either just search for specific card text to get every possible interaction/bridge for a deck or just look it up on ygoprodeck because what you've discovered was probably already been discovered and dismissed. That's not an issue, pachy finally got banned last year because ryzeal mitsurugi was able to shit out its usual board and then floodgate with it. You also need to completely give up on backrow in order for her floodgate to be live, and using ryzeal mitsurugi as an example again, it really needs that set purification/prayers. Lastly she merely doesn't let the opponent set backrow, but they can activate spells just fine.

If you were to run a unsearchable backrow floogate, you'd be better off with this since she completely kills quick plays and lets you pop a set spell/trap when your opponent sets anything. Also she's way sexier so diabellze>denko.

It's because they don't want to bring themselves up to speed with the game because that takes a lot more effort. So they demand that the game be brought down for them. It's just blame, and effort, shifting their problems to konami.
The other thing is that most people are biased in memory of the decks they were facing. When they played as a kid nobody was playing a good deck because good deckbuilding theory hadn't developed yet (not until like early 2010s) and they weren't in tune with what was actually good to play.

The one other thing is that they expect to be good at the game and seal club. But ironically get shocked when they end up on the receiving end because they're the one's who are underdeveloped in terms of their play. They expect to be good at the game just because they played it a handful of times 20 years ago. So they get pissed off when they get BTFO instead.

DIFO's meta was close to perfect, with only a few small blemishes sullying the pool. Ban Savage Dragon/Baronne/Apollousa (maybe allowing one of them), Feather Storm, Branded Expulsion, and you have a metagame that is without fault. Compare that to the current meta, where it's only okay after you gut half of each T1 deck/engine.

If Konmai hated FTKs so much they would stop printing new ones. Between the Gimmick Puppet support and the whole Eneacraft archetype they clearly want there to be FTKs in the game.
In fact YGO as a game can't turn its nose up at FTKs because from day 1 it was established you could just hard draw Exodia and win on the spot. So now it's no longer a matter of should FTKs exist in YGO but how strong is an FTK allowed to be.

You basically can't in YGO and it's been like that for almost the entire history of the game. All because this faggot is stearing the ship for the TCG.
You would think after making statements like pic (note it's from 2005) they would push to make products that are a better offer than what the secondary market offers like valve on piracy and is provent to work. But instead they doubled down on being shit.
If you got problems with product this is the guy that would need to die for change to happen. The day he leaves is the day things improve.

Some blame does go to konami overall though because all regions intend for sets to be more like expansions rather than something you can use solo to build decks.

This isn't something you blame Tewart for. The issue is not that he fucks all the rarities, it's that Konami themselves will chop up support across multiple sets, sometimes having that support just being one or two cards among a pool of cards dedicated to a completely different theme. They have been making that problem a little less terrible in recent years since they're shifting gears towards more generic effects, but that doesn't change the fact that you can have a full archetype in one set, minus two or three of the cards you need to fully flesh them out that can be spread out in multiple other sets.

Also, I can probably bet that they're talking about some shit like HERO where most of the cards that go into a conventional build for them came out sporadically.
