They went and applied a fog of war approach to the Jihad, most of the story bits came out as news bits which upset plenty of players, plus Wizkids was pushing ahead with the Dark Age story and was too busy with that to support the second era that was being pushed as well.

Jihad had so much fucking potential but between the massive fuck ups between the 3 companies it never had a chance.
>>

Exactly, CGL HAS to force ilclan on noobs because no one chooses it freely.

One of my favourite parts of the Jihad tbhon and I kinda wish they still did it. I know I'm in the minority there though.

I second that. Some wob BA would be cool too.
>>
>>97790161
It got good when after JHS:3072, they had each subsequent book go "This is the shit that actually happened for real in the previous book." So that way we could all argue and theorycraft, but then we had actual answers when the next thing came out.

Maybe the arm blades are fragile or something? They're covered in spikes and thin pieces and they've got a sword, it could be the models are too fragile or something.
>>
>>97790149
I'm pretty sure some of the people I play with at my LGS have ties to CGL. They always act way too excited about new stuff and whenever I mention how there's a new thing I don't like, they act with what feels like fake shock. Like...
>How could you not like Battletech Gothic anon? It was so cool!
>You're not excited for ilclan stuff? You don't really just want to play 3025 forever do you?
I would in fact be totally fine with playing 3025 forever. I also accept Clan Invasion and even Civil War. That feels like more than enough for me and I quite enjoy the time periods I play in already.
>>
>>97790223
>People don't enjoy the same things I do

>They must be shills!

Anon you wouldn't find them hanging around the store if they didn't like the stuff they can get at the store. If you're looking for those hard-nosed critical grognards they won't be talking to you about that stuff either because they're busy playing.

I assume there's something wrong with the shape of the models. The Celestials are nothing like any other model in the game so it could be they're struggling to make it work in plastic.

Comstar formed as a religious order on the idea that religion will survive an apocalypse much better than a corporation and given a prophecy that would have closely mirrored the projected results of total nuclear warfare, but then the apocalypse never happened, the nukes got put away, and the prophecy that was supposed to elevate comstar to benevolent saviors of a destroyed galaxy was looking more and more false by the day. The second star league could almost be interpreted as the end result if only comstar (now word of blake because regular comstar went secular) could be on the council, but then even that fell through. At the end of their rope, the blakists looked at their prophecy of a nuclear end to all non-comstar space travel and government and thought "Blake helps those who help themselves".

Truth is stranger than fiction, friend. Believe what you want. Won't change the truth. I guess the strange thing to you is that successful people would be on 4chan. Yet, even lead devs have been here and many other boards for things up to TV series, games and movies. We're all here forever.

Buddy, I'm just drunk and posting in my favorite thread. My gf is a lovely Alabama former military girl that keeps herself in shape in hiking with me. My car is a beautiful metallic blue and runs great, though needs a new heater core and modern seatbelts and new plenum drain tubes. My farms are all paid off and have been since I was a small child. The nice thing about coming from a good family is you get to continue that save game if you aren't a total fuckup.

I'll go put a mech on the hood right fucking now if you want.

The Colour Wheel Basics
The traditional colour wheel is a circular diagram that organises colours based on their relationships. It starts with:

Primary colours: Red, Yellow, Blue (cannot be mixed from others).
Secondary colours: Orange (red + yellow), Green (yellow + blue), Purple (blue + red).
Tertiary colours: Mixtures like red-orange, yellow-green, blue-purple, etc.

The wheel helps show how colours relate — opposites (complementary), neighbours (analogous), etc.
Light and Dark in Colour Wheel Theory (Value)
The most important aspect for light and dark is value — the lightness or darkness of a colour, independent of its hue (the pure colour name).

Light colours (high value / tints): Made by adding white to any hue on the wheel. They appear brighter, softer, and more delicate (e.g., pale pink from red, light sky blue from blue).
Dark colours (low value / shades): Made by adding black to any hue. They appear deeper, richer, and more intense (e.g., maroon from red, navy from blue).

You can also create tones by adding grey, which reduces vibrancy while keeping the colour somewhere between light and dark.
Key Principles Using Light and Dark on the Wheel

Value Contrast
Strong differences between light and dark colours (whether same hue or different) create drama, depth, and visual interest. Low contrast feels calmer but can look flat.
Tints and Shades in Practice
Any colour on the wheel can be lightened (tint) or darkened (shade). This gives you a full range from bright pastels to deep, moody versions without changing the base hue.

Mood and Effect
Light colours (tints) feel fresh, airy, optimistic, and spacious.
Dark colours (shades) feel grounded, elegant, mysterious, or powerful.
Combining them adds balance — light areas "pop" against dark ones.

Simple Harmony Tips with Light/Dark
Monochromatic: Use one hue from the wheel + its tints (light) and shades (dark) for easy, unified looks.
Complementary (opposites on the wheel, e.g., red and green): Pairing a light tint of one with a dark shade of the other creates strong, vibrant contrast.

Rule of thumb: The colour wheel shows "which colours," while light and dark (value) controls "how bright or deep" they feel. Good designs almost always balance light and dark for readability, depth, and emotion.

With a new Mechwarrior RPG coming, it could also be a sourcebook or adventure for that with RPG creation rules and a beast-mounted infantry style conversion system. The RPGs are traditionally where alternate timelines and what-ifs are explored (even the april fool's products are often framed by the RPGs) and beast-mounted infantry and techmanual infantry weapons give us examples to follow in the RPG->CBT conversion.

What is and was does not concern me, but rather what must be. I've not always kept my head about it but I'm going to keep trying to contribute to the thread.

The only thing I can't stand is people not contributing; crying about other shit or engaging in bad faith just to stir up shit.

They have the entire rest of the internet for that shit; so I say not here. Not ever. Not if I can help it for even a second.

On that note. I have an idea for SPA selection for a campaign I'm working on; figured I'd float it here. I'm thinking of putting together a table where players can draft SPAs off of, rolled randomly rather than selected.

With, I think, 45ish Mech applicable SPAs, would a random pull of 5 be fair each time you try to buy an SPA for support points? I'm thinking you can apply it to another eligible pilot if you don't like it for the one you originally had in mind, or if you really think all your selections suck that badly, you can take the consolation prize, turn them all down to increase the number you roll for next time by 1 (this can stack infinitely, but when you're spending 100 SP a pop on this you have a lot of incentive to take what you get).

Does this sound dumb or a good way to keep the board from being filled up with identical SPA and SPA combinations?
>>

>>
>>97793055
That's the fun part, anon. When you have cash, you don't give a fuck what other people think is cool. It's rather ironic that lesser models and trims of the time are worth more now like cameros. An old stingray still has all the really good tech of the time like all 4 wheels with disk brakes, and you can get any part you want as part of the millions of engines and systems it debuted and were used for 50+ years. I was gonna blow 60k+ on a 69 camero with a 454 but this popped up locally for cheap, and I said, "Yeah, I want that." Then, you actually have the money in the bank to just yank out of your pocket for a toy. It's a good feeling not to be in hock for things you want.

I also hate the stupid "totally secret massive army hidden around the sphere" shit that comstar just pulled and depleted with the clan invasion. BUT WAIT THERES MORE! Another secret hidden army. The greatest travesty of the wobbies is that it really destroyed the mystery of comstar and with that gone the setting plummeted. But what do I know? I'm just a retarded ELH fanboy.

It would have been far better if there was one more era lasting 15-20 years after the FedCom Civil War and before the Jihad. Outwardly, it's a calmer period where everyone is adjusting to the new status quo, but the Second Star League and the Homeworld vs Invader Clans are experiencing bigger and bigger cracks, the prior major characters slowly pass away from old age or other complications, and the Word of Blake is building up an arsenal - initially intended to prove their worth in power but ultimately known in hindsight to be unleashed in the Jihad.

But it's not, It's uncertain what it is but best speculationis an entity from another universe that is percieved as a Battlemech in this universe because that's the closest thing that physics and/or human psychology can process it as.

Got a game of Alpha Strike in today. Adept Baal, Ascended of the Manei Domini, was ambushed by a battered, half-mad force of Com Guard amid the nuked ruins of Valnya City while leading the scouring of Tukayyid.
The bitter battle between one-time kin took place amid the nuclear fallout of the Word's bombardment, the air thick with flesh-eating viral weapons unleashed upon the city by the Master's Hands.
It was a close battle, but in the end the Com Guard brought down Baal, avenging themselves somewhat upon the Word, before the defiant warriors of ComStar disengaged and withdrew back into the tomb that Valnya become. Amid the fallen they would repair and wait for their next chance to strike back against servants of Blake.

Welcome back Blake anon, it has been a while since you’ve posted your games.
>>

It's getting there but not yet. The 50's-60's oddballs are falling fast but the big names are still holding value. It's kinda weird. You can get a project heap for 4k, but a good example is ridiculous. Just saw a 58 go into the local showroom for 250k, but their 64 is only 33k. Might need to get me an early 60's, or just get a lebaron or lincoln or something. The prewar stuff is off a cliff, though. That same place has an immaculate restored 28 Chevy for 17k.
>>
>>97794910
If I'm being honest I don't mind the BSP stuff because it lets you streamline Vees, Infantry and Aerospace while leaving the 'Mechs nice and crunchy. I can see in an established group doing full TW rules for all of the above, but especially when playing in mixed company its nice to keep things brisk.
>>
>>97794926
I am Euro so there is always a premium on imports but before there just were not as many available over here, not even the 'runts' wich, lets be realistic, is what gets exported. My car times with the cough drop, it has an '48 replacement engine (Wich is ok for the Buick concours stuff if that matters) it had been languishing in a barn for some time so the runners were all crusty and the paintjob is not bad but ugly. So ofcourse the poor thing got shat all over by the aaca crowd because there was so much availability. She's getting there, I still think I just should have bought a Corvette' sometimes but there was only this chance to get a car like this.

What has killed me on my other newer vehicles is I restored them all when they hit around the 20 year sweet spot when there were tons in the yards, but now, a decade later, I need anything and it's a fight for interior parts. Even getting a new dome light assembly for a Ford Ranger is a bitch. But, somehow, you can get every little fucking thing OEM on a C3 for cheap.

The trim part took some ebay stalking, emblems can be had trough bobs automobilia. I got a clock delete plate just for the rarity It. Parts availability is a thing with classics but USA parts are mostly available for a lot of cars. I also have an 80's turbo Volvo, getting replacements for all that crumbling plastic is harder than getting some obscure pre war Buick parts.

when I do the base paint layer do I paint everything the base color and then layer the other paints over it for say, guns, glass, metallic joints, checker schemes, etc. or do I paint each in base color?
or is it situational? probably a stupid question, because after trying to base in different colors and having to go back and clean things up it seems pretty difficult but I also have a shaky hand so maybe its just a skill issue on my part?
I assume I'll have to do clean up layers regardless but I didn't think it would hurt to ask anyways

Salvage rights of first dibs on what you kill from the enemy force (up to a certain value) tends to be the more common version of that.
The employer paying up to a certain value of repairs and supplies in general is the other common option.

Something that happens: Yes.

However, most mercs prefer hard cash now over maybe salvage rights later, since you might not get any salvage at all on some contracts. It's a sliding scale, hence why the Hinterlands campaign system runs from "you're not getting paid at all" to "you're getting paid 150% of your monthly operating expenses" and "you get no salvage" to "you get to keep everything you kill"

After the Clan Invasion where they lost all their warriors, Diamond Shark has been building up their mercantile portfolio, which accelerated when Comstar first fragmented between it and the WoBbies, and lost all trust due to the Jihad by association. By the time Diamond Shark returned to their original name of Sea Fox after that Totem was found to not be extinct, they were rapidly consolidating and expanding until you reach the modern day of the setting 100 years after the Invasion.
>>
>>97795649
There hasn't been scarcity since the 4th succession war. Maybe mid dark age if you aren't a centralized government force. Helm undid most scarcity.

>>
>>97796328
Rush them with faster than average medium laser boats. Also, play with someone who's actually fun to play with.
>>
>>97796292
Scarcity really isn't binary; after Helm production on 'Mechs could begin again in earnest, but that doesn't mean you can order any mech you want out of a catalog and have it overnighted to you.

During CI, it was Clan Salvage mostly that both Houses and mercenaries were bending over backwards for; expanding in FCCW to experimental technologies and advancements. Jihad was a circus so I'm not really going to explain how to clown. Dark Age was more Succession Wars adjacent with a combination of decimated reserves and hoarding/disarmament. ilClan is back more to business as usual, but it's not like it's raining new shiny prototypes; it's just at the point that if you want a CI era omni you can find an old used one and pay out your tits for it without too much trouble.
>>
>>97796383
During CI they were also downcycling all their old mechs, so while the 1st Golden Prettyboys were getting XL engine ER Streak Ultra Gauss Cannon Launcher ++, the 54th Regulars are getting the old introtech hand-me-downs and the 54ths old half-rusted frankensmechs are being sold on the open market to the thrifty mercenary. Getting a mech at all becomes a simple matter of money, not connections.
>>
>>97796400
It'd probably be more obvious that mechs are scarce, though still attainable to have, if we saw less people who are lower down on the totem pole. There's a lot of garrisons out there with Quikcell shitboxes and modified Industrialmechs who'd treat even a shit typical mech like a Protagonist's Gundam when Pirates are attacking their far-from-typical frontlines world.
>>
if IS had pa(l)s, why didn't they make use more of them before the clan invasion or even develop their own form of battle armor?
it seems pretty obvious to at least get to the medium weight class, where they're just more expensive but far better jump infantry?
is it really just down to meat being cheaper than metal during the succession wars and comstar sabotage?

99% of Planets were nuked from the 26th/27th Century tech all the way back to the 20th/21st Century. Some being wrecked further. And basically none of it was allowed to redevelop due to the various Great Houses and Comstar sabotage in the few times the Great Houses were slightly holding back.

The Helm Memory Core gave a shitload of knowledge back, but there is only so much you can do in about 20 years of having it before the Clans invaded with that much shit being wrecked and it being a major project in just rebuilding to Helm standards, much less improving on it.
>>
>>97796531
The only two combat capable PA(L) in the inner sphere was the Nighthawk, a top secret spook suit so special that only the special forces SLDF commanders who explicitly had a need-to-know actually knew of them and the Tornado, which was reverse engineered from that by Comstar, who found some Nighthawks in a back room somewhere but didn't even know what they were called or had any other evidence of their existence outside of having examples on hand. Attempts to arm industrial suits did not go well. If Comstar had lost their grip on the Tornado and let a few get captured by a great house, then it would have been reverse engineered quickly. But nobody else ever had any proof of concept for any kind of battle armor until the elementals showed up. Once they did though, everyone locked in and got their own versions asap.

>>
>>97796585

Prime, every mech every time.
The point of Omni is that you don't need sanctioned configurations, you can swap pods as you desire.
So when players see configuration E is jihad era they tend to shit bricks if you bring it to Clan Invasion even if those pods exist then, which is retarded.
>>
>>97796729
I think that comes down to the specific Omni's Config E. Big difference if its stuff that was in other existing Configs vs it being a system that wasn't in prior ones which could mean Jihad or whenever was when that pod was first created.
>>
>>97796729
The fact a pod load-out is theoretically possible doesn't mean it was in common use in that era. Some load-outs were a direct response to the losses experienced in the Clan Invasion, so fitting up a star to play Turkayidd with pods they set up because of how they lost at Turkayidd is twice as retarded.

If you want to change your podspace freeform, get your opponent to agree to custom mechs.
>>
>>97796759
Common use doesnt fucking matter, omnis are customizable so you dont need to give a fuck about default loadouts.

>>
>>97796769
The introductory dates on the MUL and in other first-hand sources are authoritative. The existence of the "TC" (Temporary Configuration) designation for things like the Timby are specifically to allow use of the common refit without custom building rules.

>>97796809
RAW, Omnipod equipment is fully interchangeable... at least within pod space. If it fits (tonnage and slots), it ships. Fixed slots and space cannot be altered at all though without breaking the Omni-technology advantages though. All Omnipod-compatible weapons and equipment though has a cost multiplier (x1.25); so if you thought Omnimechs were expensive before, having a shed full of additional tonnage to swap in and out is gonna cost you some vacation days.
>>
>>97796817
>If you could retcon Dark Age, where would you steer the lore?
I would delete it and cancel the game line. It's irredeemable. Nothing can be good once trannies get ahold of it. Wargaming is over and Battletech has never been more dead.

Also remembering how she was supposedly loyal to the main line until Hohiro II got himself welded to the deck of his warship when he tried to breach Fortress.

3135 she was just a meat puppet, she's long past that shit now. Daisuke Kurita might have survived the purge of Vincent's line, though.

She's totally a pretender bitch, but she's at least doing the job seriously enough to nearly get killed for it.

There's a reason my Dragon II is nicknamed "Toad Reaper".

Was the number of troops in an IS jump infantry platoon picked with the intent of disadvantaging them in anti-mech attacks?

Even CGL knows no one gives a shit about their clan fanboy fanfiction so they are cramming it all in while people pay attention to adepticon news.

The in-universe ghost story was that the SLDF was trying to build a hyperspace gate system and tested it by having the Marauder go through the gates, only for things to go all Event Horizon and the mech becoming possessed by some sort of hyperspace demon. Though the implications is that it's just a regular Marauder with a reputation of being cursed due to some of its pilots dying in unfortunately circumstances, that some pirate rigged with a drone control system to let it be moved by remote control to scare his rivals. There's one guy in the story claiming he saw the mech turn its head (which Marauder couldn't do since the cockpit is directly connected to the torso) and IIRC open a mouth, but he probably shouldn't be taken as a reliable source, as everything else points out it's just a mech with a bad reputation that got used in a hoax to make people think its owner had a demon-mech he could command.

>There is one mention of one dude who swore it turned its head.
Not exactly.
In the same story the other pirate (most reliable and stable among Kevin's band) also notices that Kevin somehow knows much more space jumps.
Next story Ghost Hunting Snow Raven officer explains that there is 4th dimension which used by K-F drives on jumpships.
Which corresponds with records of SLDF pilots who were participating in the projects Butterfly (new neuro-interface for Gunslingers) and Bee (making experimental mech) and Kevin's own words about Star League pucking a hole.

It's quite opposite
>“Because I can see it,” Lucien said. Something deep and frightening lurked in his words. He stared at Percy’s blank face for a moment, then snarled, “Compare it to your own holo from Defiance.”
>Percy had left that holo back at camp, but he did not need it. He’d long ago memorized every bizarre angle, every unexpected curve and bulge of the Dark One, Black Kevin’s sadistic BattleMech. He hated that this ’Mech did not match. It was black, but it clearly had classic General Motors Marauder lines.
