You have to consider you aren't that particularly more powerful than other immortals other vampires have most likely attempted similar farming methods and they are still a dying breed. The reputation loss, the logistical hassle and the fact that your pretty much always going to be 1 hour away from death just doesn't sound worth it to me for the little power it provides. Instead of getting those 2 extra magic points just get allies who know that magic.
