>Now that we are confident that the setting is getting fuckedUntil GW themselves shoves The Last Realm into a WarCom article, I don't care
They say it in whispers, like it’s already happene like the axe has already fallen and we’re just waiting for the echo to reach us. The Boole rumors crawl through every thread and Discord like a slow rot, and I can’t shake the feeling that something I’ve spent years caring about is being quietly erased. Not with a grand End Times spectacle, not even with a dignified send off just… shelved. Squatted. Reduced to a footnote while the setting, the stories that once felt alive are left to gather dust in some forgotten corner. It’s a hollow kind of grief, the kind that doesn’t explode but lingers, because you don’t even know if you’re mourning something real yet.And that’s the worst part this limbo. Every new rumor feels like another nail, every bit of silence from official channels like confirmation. You start thinking about all the armies, all the paint, all the time sunk into something that might just stop mattering overnight. Not because it deserved to end, but because it was decided somewhere, by people who’ll never feel that loss the same way. Maybe it’ll all blow over, maybe it’s nothing but right now it feels like watching a world slowly blink out, and not being able to do a damn thing about it.
What a great start of a new thread lol
remember that this was all planned for a long time, probably even before TOW was released. Trust the plan
>>97791421>skrillex haircut>woman>black guyAoS was cooked for years
>>97791417>and then Boole came back two days later and said "What's up guys? Sick AoS reveals, right? I got a little worked up but it's not that bad actually."
>>97791419expect this to be the way things are until the Last World will be finally announced
>>97791398>Now that we are confident that the setting is getting fuckedDont care. between seasons of thondia getting its storyline canned and the whole ynnari thing getting cancelled in its introduction, gw is quick narratives than not. Setting up killing sigmar and invading azyr alone would take an entire two editions at least as well. In all likehood boole saw some rough draft of ""something"" that for all we know could have been a fecs delusion. >how do you feel about the future of AoS?I play da spearhead
>>97791438quick to can narratives than not*

>>97791385The only ones I've seen have been twinks. Need one that's jacked
>>97791398>TQHonestly, it just feels like watching a house burn down while someone waves glossy renders of “cool new stuff” in your face. Yeah, the models look incredible, probably some of the best they’ve ever made, but it’s hard to care when the setting they’re supposed to belong to feels like it’s getting gutted or rewritten into something unrecognizable. Without a world that actually has weight and continuity, they’re just expensive display pieces instead of part of something alive, and while the future of AoS will probably be “successful” in that churn out hype and product sense, creatively it feels bleak, like depth is being traded for spectacle, and you’re just expected to clap while something you liked gets slowly dismantled and repackaged.
>>97791398Fine. Continents rather than "realms" is fine. Also I don't like Sigmar so happy to see that cocksucker due.Age of Morathi is here now

>>97791460Will she survive Malerion return?
Hey, link to the episodes of the Sigmar Toll and Adepta Sororitas: Penitent series?
I'm thrilled I picked a City that's probably going to be worshipping Taal instead of that dead ass Sigmar
>>97791469Malerion is probably not coming back with the DE going back to TOW, considering he is their main faction leader.
do something about orruks already, gw, and fuck kruleboyz.
>>97791475You are an heretic anon, go talk to your local Witch Hunter to recieve the appropriate punishment.
I just realized you could probably proxy the cogfort as a fragment of the crimson keep for kastelai. Dont have much ideas on how to get started on that though.
>>97791421>SigmaronCome on.You people can't be serious, right?
>>97791549Sugmadick
Why did they give her such a fat ass?
>>97791553What, does Sigmar drive around in his Sigmobile? Does he sleep on a Sigmattress? Does he have a special stormhost dedicated to grooming his Sigmustache? Does he eat his waffles with Sigmaple syrup? Sigmellow out, little Sigman.
Sigmar lied. Sigmar died.
>>97791398>how do you feel about the future of AoS?Pretty good since I know that setting isn't getting end times'd and it's all just delusions of people who want something to doom about
>>97791398>TQI can't understand why anyone thinks GW is about to take AoS out back and put it down. Take 5 seconds to really think about it. Which do you think is more likely>Sigmar from Age of Sigmar is going to die>GW is going to shitcan it's second most popular IP to soup it with a currently struggling IP that already diedor>GW higher ups got sick of all their shit getting leaked and ruining their marketing and made up some retarded rumors so they could find and plug the leak, a fairly common business practice
>>97791639Yeah, and they got all 3 credible leakers at once and 2 less credible leakers all with the same rumor. Dummy.
>>97791464Based. Literally me.>>97791469Yes. She has been around long enough and is an integral part of the lore. If anything, Malerion will be part of her range.
>>97791398>TQCould care less what GW does with the setting. If I fucking wanted to I could have an AOS game set in the old world out of spite.
Why do people think Malerion is coming to AoS? We have no Umbraneth rumors. Morathi will not be replaced, especially now that DE are going back to TOW.
>>97791665>We have no Umbraneth rumorsWe have a rumor about pretty much the entire elf pantheon getting featured soon next edition, and with slaanesh coming out of the closet soon, it’s slated to be elf heavy just as 4th was dwarf heavy.
Is there a story in lore about a CoS crusade where the starting city they set out from becomes overrun while they’re out and about? I’m planning on getting the new CoS Spearhead when I can and am brainstorming ideas for /mydudes/.
>>97791639So just to be clear, you think GW intentionally let "the game is going to be blown up and all the worldbuilding and story to this point drastically altered if not essentially pitched out" into the fanbase through reliable rumor mongers, knowing the rumor would sit there for months causing consternation and depressing fans? Why would they do that? If they wanted to catch the leaker why not a rumor like, "Bonesplitterz refresh!"
>>97791694I think the dawn bringers crusade had a story or two like that. I don’t remember much of it though.
>>97791695>why not a rumor like, "Bonesplitterz refreshHe is unaware.
>>97791695> knowing the rumor would sit there for months causing consternation and depressing fans?no, because you have to be fucking retarded to think they're going to take they're second most successful IP and chuck it into the trash. WHFB failed for a reason and TOW is barely moving along despite all the initial hype Cathay had. It would be financial suicide to make this kind of change and if nothing else, investors wouldn't be happy with GW rocking the boat where they really don't need to. If you want to spend months crying because you geniunely think they're going to kill Sigmar and end the series go ahead. I'm not a therapist I can't solve your irrational fears

>>97791861i curse GW for enabling giantess fetishiststhe actual model looks like a crackhead inbred from the deepest pits of appalachia
>>97791639>disinformation drop that torpedoes faith in your product's longevity and causes strife, wailing, depression and arguments in the already-dying community>a fairly common business practicelol you're too stupid for this realm. You need to portal back to your birthplace on Rytardan, Plane of Disability."Second most popular IP" is, bluntly, weasel words from a faggot. When you start talking about IPs people assume you're talking about licensing opportunities and 3rd party stuff. Fucking Blood Bowl, Necromunda and Mordheim are more popular licenses than AoS.AoS is their 2nd most popular GAME, not IP. And it fucking well better be, given that it's their second most expensive game, as well. It gets the most investment dumped into it and if it *wasn't* the 2nd most popular game it would be an unmitigated disaster. Also none of the rumours even said it would be "shitcanned" that's more of your self-soothing faggot talk. Just deal with reality like a man. AoS will still be around but things are going to be changing.
>>97791897>looks like a crackhead inbred from the deepest pits of appalachiai know, i've seen people at a LGS too
>>97791899nta but what metric are you using that makes you say that mordheim is a more popular license/IP than AoS? word of mouth? how many sales it made over time? cultural impact?i adore mordheim and all the weird ass rules and flavor but AoS absolutely clears in terms of people knowing what it is
>>97791926it got one game so he's thinking that makes it more popular somehow, remember, this is a total war secondary
>>97791926It has one (1) moderately well-received videogame, which is all it really takes.I think it probably has a better reputation and more cultural impact. I don't know if "how many people know what it is" is much of a metric. If you walk into a LGS and see a standee you officially know what AoS is (a warhammer game) but is that actually anything?I think if you polled all players of tabletop games other than AoS or Mordheim, Mordheim would come out with more favourability.
>>97791939Are you the one guy in here who always does this, and only this? Seeing the entire outer dark as a single TWW secondary coming to personally attack YOU and accusing anyone making criticisms of being part of that collective TWW cosmic foe?If it is you, I already shut your virgin ass up months ago during one of your Post Models!! beggar crash out.
>>97791926I disagree with that anon's specifics but agree with his sentiment. Actual players and gamers really like the AoS game and models, but I've yet to meet a fan of the setting as a whole (more than just a fan of a couple factions). I can see GW overhauling the lore and branding of the game, but keeping all the bits most people really like (the actual game and models themselves).
>>97791958well based on >It has one (1) moderately well-received videogame, which is all it really takes.seems he was right.
>>97791958no this is my first time using the thread since like last week
>>97791948i'm going to have to disagree with your assessment; if we're saying that mordheim has more of a cultural impact because of a somewhat successful game (and yeah if we're just using that metric then AoS is at the bottom, because who the fuck remembers realms of ruin) but if we're talking general popularity, which includes the general audience and population, then by simple logic the warhammer property that still has games, books, and shows that you can go and buy right now automatically make it more popular and well known>If you walk into a LGS and see a standee you officially know what AoS is (a warhammer game) but is that actually anything?yes, a random dude walking into a shop seeing the funny golden man who knows nothing else about warhammer aside from space marines will at least learn more about age of sigmar than he would about mordheim, because you can't find mordheim shit at shops (unless it's secondhand and by some miracle the seller didn't just put it on ebay for an insane amount of money)>>97791961this i can understand but the combativeness on the semantics of IP/property was a bit weird to me, which is why i was wondering what the hell he was talking about. i will say as someone who's talked to other people about AoS and who were interested in playing spearhead and underworlds, it was pretty hard for a few of them to easily understand the mortal realms and how they work because by definition they are very esoteric and strange (i also never really cared for realmspheres personally but that's also just GW never giving a shit about anything other than aqshy and ghyran) so if the big change of 5th edition or whatever is making the mortal realms into one cohesive celestial body then i'm more or less fine with it
>>97791899How long until all this CoS stuff actually releases ya think?
>>97791984Me: Are you that fag from months ago? You: No, this is my first time here in a week.Sigmar is not sending his best. You sound like you need a factory reforge buddy.
>>97792005well CLEARLY i have no fucking idea who you're even talking about so that should prove im not the same dude
>>97792010What AoS armies do you have, and what non-AoS Games Workshop games are you also into?

>>97792016nice, do you run a specific skaven subfaction/clan
>>97792024gonna do skyre, the skaven army is admittedly still WIP, only started it with 4th, was waiting on those refreshesmight buy the new eshin too, ngl
>>97792029skryre is a lot of fun, jezzails are kinda nuts for picking off heroes this edition with their abilityi was thinking of getting eshin as well, the gutter runners in particular look fantastic and the runners have super weird movement rules
>>97792037i would get them to go with my underworlds warband, too. i have all the skaven ones
>>97791958How ironic that the TWW secondary crashes out about his imaginary boogeyman seeing "all the based TWW secondaries" as a single person, while doing that exact same thing to some random anon calling him on his bullshit.Truly, r/totalwar is not sending their best.
>>97792039ah nice! i actually got into underworlds fairly recently but i really like the system (and you can tell the designers had a ton of fun designing the models, big fan of all the weird animals and lil guys that usually show up in the warbands too)
>>97791398>Now that we are confident that the setting is getting fucked>NowPeople that question creditability of Boole's group leaks are so funny to me because 99% of those leaks were on point and everyone was happy and clapping like crazy but when they leaked something that upsets the reddit normie part of the playerbase, the crowd suddenly wants to see their heads on a spike. The amount of cope in this thread alone is simply hilarious.
>>97792059ngl im kind of addicted to them, i buy them anyitme i see a deal on them, so i have the tzeentch warband, the ghost woman nighthaunt one, the DoK one (which is the only not embarrassing models that range has) and the old fatcast one because i got one of the first box sets for cheap which is how i got the ghosts (it was like 20 dollars)

does anyone else ever get sad while working on their army? like you realize its all this effort that doesnt really get you much of anything, and you dont have anyone to *really* share it with
>>97792142Sounds like you need friends
>>97792134In the order of priority >guard>spearhead >11th Personally I don’t really like guard, but all vehicles should be fun to paint, and youll probably actually get that painted Spearhead I would rate higher if I knew if its limited or not but idk so just leaving it here for now As for 11th…well it might be fun for the first three months but you already know you can probably get the orcs cheaper on eBay or something.
>>97792143>Sounds like you need friendsbro you have no idea...
>>97792142Sometimes, but I've taught my son to play wargames with me. Haven't taught him how to play AOS though.
>>97792142No. I play with mates regularly.
>>97792142I’m a selfish dude so I kinda like to keep my hobbying for myself. Gayming though is different.
>>97792169You can easily play with yourself
>>97792176
>>97792176There's something really sad about solo wargaming.
These new DoK rules look FUN
>>97792196I haven’t looked at them, I do like sylvaneths though.
>>97792142A bit, yeah. I often feel a need to express myself in a crafty or artistic way and my gf is a very slow hobbyist so I end up with multiple small projects done in the meantime but they end up collecting dust in most cases. That's why I decided to write my own ruleset. This way, when the urge appears, I simply sit down and think about new rules, fluff etc.
>>97792176>play with yourself
>cultural impactJesus christ shut the fuck up
Greenskins having red blood feels wrong
>>97791398if gw didn't suck they would have made a 1:1 model of this and it would have saved AoS
>>97792202Rather than blood rites being"Each turn get a new buff"It's now do a thing to unlock a buff, but you choose from a list so you can make it suit missions/who you're playing against. They still stack so it's like before you get better as the game progresses. Also you choose a non unique hero to be annnointed. When they die, another hero becomes annnointed and gets their special rules, if they die the next one gets them etc. so it feels like a bunch of non unique heroes is a great idea.
Kino novels (unless you're a racist piece of shit)
>>97792142Yes but not for those reasons. It's mostly sadness from me being bad and how my poor abilities are doing a disservice to the incredible work the sculptors and modelers have done before me.
>>97792063I don't see why people are mad anyway, s1 age of sigmar had totally different maps and lore from s4.Also isn't it kind of crazy that S4 came out 2 years ago? Time sure flies.
>>97791398>OPI say let’s go. Sure, realm lore becomes obsolete, but that’s about it? Models stick around, all lore up til now still happened but get relegated to something like the Age of Myth, and all factions probably get some changes in their lore to reflect the new situation they find themselves in.The maps we have stay, just put together into one world. The only thing that, for some people, might be worth being mad about is named characters dying. And even then I think it’s gonna be stormie foot heroes who might be goners. The god models will get the C’tan treatment in various ways (Nagash model is gonna be aspect/avatar of Nagash etc) to remove the actual gods from the playable setting. The elves will lose godhood as they no longer have their own realms to be connected to, and instead just being ”the most powerful warriors/mages of their faction. That’s it. There will be different text in your lorebooks, but not written as replacement but as continuation/evolution of the current story. While I do like the traffic in the thread as a result of the rumors, I don’t see how anyone can be worried even a little?
>>97791881>even in AoS, people rag on the space wolvesDecalfag can't can't a break huh
>>97791665ironically the anvilgard plotline and the last heir to anvilgard is one of the only compelling things I've seen from AoS and it's entirely by accident since anvilgard only existed as a holding pen for old dark elf models.
>>97791899ironically by giving knights/cogforts to age of sigmar, they did the reverse of what I would have wanted for Knights in 40k.
>>97792287This. It's a pill hard to swallow for some people that got stuck in their echo chamber but The Last World seems to address most of the critique AoS received as a setting in the last 10 years. My only worry and complaint is that I don't want AoS to become even more grimderp. For me, 2e reached the limit of grimdarkness I want to see in AoS. I really liked how hopeful 1e setting was. Man, Realmgate Was was such a great series, we peaked too early.Sigmar getting killed like a bitch serves no one as well. They should have cripple him and left him bound to his throne but sane and alive to make a distinctive setting difference between 40k and AoS to show how things could be if your god is still able to communicate, make decisions and doesn't turn into some 5D hyper-daemon.
>>97791665Malerion has been hinted since the very start, there was that art of him with a dragon body
>>97792310What are you talking about?
>>97792313It also doesn't make sense from a marketing perspective, you'd have newcomers seeing 'age of sigmar', asking who that is and being told 'oh he's dead, don't worry about it'
>>97792266Huh, it does sound fun. I’d at least like to play against it.
>>97792323I'm note sure what Boole means by having Sigmar killed in a more enraging way than Sanguinius since I'm not up to date with Siege of Terra books. Is there any opening for having Sigmar around as an avatar or a spirit or something?
>>97792321Knights in 40k should have Bondsmen like they do in their codex, the cities of sigmar infantry fulfill the role of the bondsmen to the towering Cogforts, which are similar to Knights.
>>97792313they should rip off Invincible and have sigmar's son Sigvincible become Emperor Sigmar.
>>97792323Tbf, “Age of:” did always imply that there was a potential for another age beyond sigmar, at least to me. Just as there was an age of myth, and an age of chaos. >>97792411Necro quake did actually mess with the setting between unearthing the storm vaults, and introducing endless spells. Era of the beast kinda…well. It just proved that alarielle is kind of a bimbo idiot. Vermindoom has just been fucking everyone over so far.
>>97792404No he didn't, and there was quite a bit of discussion about boole's credibility when he started posting again. Iirc he posted the contents of the skaventide half (rat ogres, clanrats, ...) after another leaker already confirmed it was skaven, and got them mostly right but I do remember there being one mistake + most people were guessing similar things anyway. What was more interesting was that he got the exact amount of miniatures in the box right (74 I think). People weren't really trusting him much when he came back until whirefang started corroborating him + of course gw kind of acknowledged him is real by doing the damage control quadruple rumour engine soon after.

>>97792508Please remind me why End Times mattered? Was it because GW changed the lore or was it because they scrapped a whole game system and replaced it with a brand new one? What happens to AoS and TLW is more on par with Gathering Storm at the end of 40k 7e are than End Times.
>>97792275Skinblight BraidlordsRead an adult's book btw

>>97792517Both happened. They also removed a ton of kits from sale.>but they'll still be playable!Fantasy armies had legends rules to play them, for free in AoS, since day 1.
>>97792529>Fantasy armies had legends rulesso they weren't playable. got it.
>>97792516They have a pseudo assassin as part of the command squad anyway.
>>97792533>literally playable, with tomb kings being OP until some point in 2nd edition Bruh.
>>97792529>Both happened.... and according to Boole, will both happen with TLW? No, only the former, not the latter. So that's Gathering Storm aka big-fucking-nothing with a scheduled edition rotation.
>>97792517At the time The End Times was peak rules design and narrative, people just didn't expect it to conclude the whole system. TLW will probably just be a shakeup narratively but I hope it does change more about army composition/faction backstory and such, if AoS has become stale WHF regurgitated shit with Duardin soup, human only CoS, Dark Elves, etc Give me Order Deathrattle Give me Destruction Beastmen Give me Chaos Ogors
>>97792533They were though. What makes you think legends are not playable?
>>97792533Everyone had play test rules at launch, all but TK and Brets got real rules over the first year.
>>97792343Meaning like a nasty sadistic Game of Thrones death that plays up the suffering of the hero and the futility of them fighting, and makes you stew in the depravity of the killer. >>97792564Is he just a chud incel?>ugh, I had to live under the tyranny of staring at bouncy elven ass all day, at lamia crotch, and wasn't allowed to join the military? This whole society is bullshit, we must kill all elf womenLike, imagine living surrounded by naked elf chicks and hating it to the point you can't even go to the arena to see them kill chaos worshippers you have to make hating that your entire personality.
For me, it seems easy to pivot away from the last world bullshit without abandoning it completely. The biggest motivation for this seems to be that AOS doesn't have as much of a 'Hard map' so nothing ever matters. (I disagree massively with this point, it's all made up, it only matters if you choose to become invested. Fictional factions will always have more troops, more territory, and more cash until the story demands that they don't)Their best option is to utilise the Eight Points, I would continue the narrative of breaking into Azyr as it's been developing for a while now. Obviously chaos and orcs and whoever else can go into Azyr and start causing problems for Sigmar. Maybe as his big plan to stop the invasion he wants to disrupt the supply lines, and he achieves this via a massive impact or something that terraforms the eight points. Make it bigger, maybe even have the eight major portals 'leak' some influence into the eight points so you still get the whole realm thing without being set in that realm. Then have an event where all factions are scrambling to establish themselves in the new eightpoints and finish that with an official map.Boom, you've got a fixed map that can be used as a setting for future vidya games etc. It still keeps the setting mostly intact and keeps the realms for more focussed campaigns
I started a UK copyright claim this week for "The Last World," and today it cleared the first stage of the process (meaning there are no pending conflicts). So GW better think up a better name, the silly bastards.
>>97792588We already have 7 "exact maps". According to boole these will be unchanged.
Mosscairn will be the starter set
>>97792588>It still keeps the setting mostly intact and keeps the realms for more focussed campaignsWhat are "focussed campaigns," and be very detailed, including why they are different from what could occur on a battleworld.
>>97792602Was Pissbramble already taken?
>>97792585I mean they do drag unwilling sacrifices to their altars and carve out their hearts but as long as you simply avoid that living in a city of elves dressed like whores does sound pretty comfy
>>97792598The funny thing is that there are basically are no other AoS maps anyways. So the new, streamlined AoS will use...the exact same maps we've been using all along. Oh no, not the unutilized space that GW never took advantage of in any way....nooo, the loss...
>>97792613yes :(
>>97792508>you're getting END TIMES'D why are you not MAD you're supposed to be MADidk man it just doesn't sound like that big of a deal to me.

>>97792622gotta post slop because TOW got nothing
>>97792605Meant more themed campaigns based on the realms themselves. I guess you could still do these in the battleworld. But to me the idea of the removing the realms and going to battleworld is to go to a lower fantasy with less prevalence of realm magic
>>97792618they might expand the maps we do have a bit to make them lock together, essentially creating just the borders between, say, the realm of beast and the realm of life, they would be good locations for campaigns of expansion>inb4 it's just the gnarlwood again

>>97792624We got dark elves back. They'd better get a kickass battalion, not just a mirror of the high elf battalion. Though to be fair, getting 60 dark elf warriors would be hilarious. >>97792614So you live in prehispanic mesoamerica? They mostly do that with captured enemy soldiers. Maybe they'll do the king thing where the captive is pampered and lives in luxury then chooses the next one before he's sacrificed. I'm also sure they'd drag away any guy that spouts things like "independence" and "male voting rights".

>Belthanos bowed before Alarielle. As he did so, he felt a shiver of predatory instinct – a sensation that deeply unnerved him.>She is weakened. Her strength ebbs, as if she has been run to ground. Were she my quarry, I would seldom find a better time to strike. The very idea was blasphemous, and he chastised himself for it.>‘My Everqueen,’ he said, laying his spear at the foot of the Jade Throne as ritual demanded. ‘You summoned me from the Great Hunt, and I come as bidden. How may I serve the?’>Alarielle met his gaze, and he knew at once she had sensed his furtive thoughts. She stretched to her full height, and though her sweeping, verdant wings had the tinge of autumn's red hue about them, they still looked supple and strong. In her stern expression he intuited her unspoken words.>My power may be diminished, the gesture said, but I could still crush you like an ant.>Belthanos knelt, making his supplication clear. He was a creature born of Kurnoth's warlike essence, but Alarielle was the very heartbeat of Ghyran. He would sooner perish in the utmost agony than offer her offence in her own court.>‘First Thorn,’ she said, and her voice rasped like leaves scraping across the trunk of an ironoak. ‘The season turns, and my enemies gather. I have sacrificed much these past days, and my strength will not swiftly recover. As my power wanes, so does that of your master wax higher. He must awaken, Belthanos. Whatever it takes. Even if we must throw the very passing of the seasons into disarray. Bring Kurnoth to me.’>Belthanos stood and smiled an eager wolf's smile, taking up his glaive and cutting the tip across his palm to release a trickling amber ooze.>‘Your will be done, my Everqueen. Upon branch and stem I swear it.’
>>97792741Is this from the battletome?
>>97792647>physical card gametbf that not unique to AoS, GW has tried multiple CCGs for Warhammer fantasy and 40k, and they all flopped hard, so blaming the fall of the card game on AoS isn't fairpic being from one of the forgotten WF ones
>>97792747Yah
>>97792749I'm not sure it counts, since those Fantasy card games were, like doomseeker, sealed product. As in, a deckbuilder boardgame such as Netrunner instead of the AoS one with booster packs.
>>97792737Is dragon quest a dead Ip? I thought they were doing alright for themselves. I love dragon quest 9 as a kid.Anyway yeah warhammer. So about those skeletons, I thought the underworlds guys were a really good rendition, especially the champion. I do like the new deathrattle but I understand the criticism that they're a bit too elite, makes them very similar to the barrow guard. I think a more lightly armoured basic skeleton design could've been a better choice.
>>97792754Invasion and original Warcry were CCg wern't they?GW even had an entire subsidiary in America created for making these games called Sabertooth GamesWarcry even got a PSP adaptation
>>97792698>gws tried it with 40k, even tried it with fantasy at least once, I think twice even, but gw will never get into the card board market. They will just never understand it. Wrong take. There is a world of difference between LCGs and TCGs. Warhammer LCGs were a huge success and have a cult built around them even today. LCG model is simply not as much of a cash cow as TCGs. Age of Sigmar Champions TCG was extremely fun but like the game it was based on - LightSeekers - it was both too different from your traditional TCGs to bait the average player and not advertised enough to make more daring players even know such a game exists. I have no idea what was the contract between PlayFusion and GW but the financial support for the game was NOT there for sure.It didn't help it was a digital game first and foremost so the moment PlayFusion announced they want to errata some of the existing paper cards to balance them for digital play as well, the game was pretty much dead since physical TCG players absolutely hate erratas - see the backlash WotC received when they errated the absolutely hated Companions ability. On the other hand you have quite successful digital-only Horus Heresy Legions that launched 7 years ago and Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge that was killed like a bitch after two years by the same devs.As you can see, GW's romance with card games is not exclusively miserable but it is true their projects die mostly because of the mismanagement.
>>97792647That's the reason they try to reboot the franchise imo. Most people don't care about the setting because it's bad and has lazy lore. In the long run it will bite GW in the ass, even if the tabletop game has good sales currently (if it does, I don't know).>>97792749People tend to buy even mediocre games if they like the setting. Warhammer 40000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters - was a FDev game, therefore shit - and people still bought it. Realms of Ruin (again FDev game), on the other hand, was in AoS setting.
>HARVESTBOON>One of the youngest and most fecund of all the Sylvaneth glades, Harvestboon represents the great potential and vibrant future of the forest folk. These are bold and fierce warriors, children of spring who fear no tragedy. This wild enthusiasm often sees them at odds with more stolid glades such as the Ironbark, who name them upstart seedlings and decry their recklessness. Yet they have their admirers also: Oakenbrow regards them with a sort of wistful pride, seeing much of their own early bravado in Harvestboon's feats. It cannot be denied that the glade has the favour of Alarielle, and their ever-growing list of victories commands a measure of respect even amongst their fiercest critics.>The Willowqueen is the high liege of Harvestboon, a being of surpassing grace who is known for possessing the most melodic and bewitching voice of any Sylvaneth. Fair yet fearsome in war, the Willowqueen resides within the reclaimed palace of Harothal, which nestles in the pearlescent shell of a living titanspite. From here she wages a war not merely of defence but of aggressive revanchism, urging her beloved subjects to strike back against the daemon and the despoiler.>‘We know that the wyldwoods will not be saved without sacrifice. Yet I fear we ask too much of these young saplings, who have never known anything but war. What memories will they return to the soil, when they fall in battle?’ — The Willowqueen of the Harvestboon

A male clonal organism, Pando has an estimated 47,000 stems (ramets) that appear to be individual trees but are genetically identical parts of a single tree connected by a root system that spans 42.8 ha (106 acres). As a multi-stem tree, Pando is the world's largest tree by measures of weight, landmass and species>Since the early 2000s, little information has been adequately corroborated about Pando's origins and how its genetic integrity has been sustained over a long period of time, conservatively between 9,000 and 16,000 years old-by the latest (2024) estimate.

These two beings existed before the Mortal Realms came to be, having ruled their own great aelven civilisation in the forgotten days of the World-that-Was. They have pivoted between mortal enemies and tentative allies a hundred times in their long history, each wounding the other more times than they can remember. How do you feel about all the new stuff? And for the rest of you, has this new wave gotten you interested?Personally my biggest gripe was steelhelms looking as shit as they do, but now that they have some more options for infantry I might be tempted to make a small 1000 point army or something. Shame about the gallants though, they're alright but I feel like they could've been much better.
>>97793028I don't collect cities of sigmar, but I like how the roster is now more well-rounded. Not interested in buying the monsters or the comforts. But I think it's neat that all of them have this theme of a walking fortress. It's a cool concept. I also like how retarded the female giant looks like.
>>97793028The size of those bases are getting comically big. I mean - is that a tabletob game still or toys for children with fat fingers? Or terrain is passe nowadays?
>>97793028You forgot about knights tho'.
>>97793044I don't like miniatures getting bigger over time, but one advantage the larger bases have is that they protect the paint on the models, because models are further away from each other when they're transported and thus dont bump into each other.
>>97793044i dont think the castle is on any bigger a base than shit we've already had in the game since its launch
>>97793044>The size of those bases are getting comically bigArachnarok was released 15 years ago buddy.
>>97793044I’d personally prefer it if Aos had its own warmaster . 10mm is underrated but it’s not as capturing for most. At least it’s in a skirmish format, it’s more functional in that manner for tables.
>>97793068Nah, you guys enjoy your zoids on zoids battles.
>>97793068warmasters shit, its fun to paint for like 5 seconds but there's so little fidelity it gets really unfulfilling really quickly and the games are boring as fuck
>>97793082Agree to disagree. If it cures your heart I’ll just say legions imperialis instead…although ideally with some actual variety instead.
>>97793066And James would rather burn the factory to the ground than produce a new Spiderfang model.
>>97793028I’m getting the vs spearhead and I’ll be happy to modify the gallants and lightly touch the gallants, but beyond that I probably won’t mess with cities. Actually wait no, that’s a lie, I do plan on getting the previous city spearhead just because I like the hunters, but I’m going to paint the death mage and zom too.
>>97793044That minis in that image are not to scale if that wasn't obvious
>>97793101Lightly touch on the grenadeirs*
>>97792935not anytime soon, if the old fantasy kits have to go away from the shadow elves faction it won't be before 3 or 6 years still
>>97793093What do you mean anon, they're getting a manifestation later in the edition :)
>>97792935That’s like expecting squig hoppers to leave because of gitmob
>>97793122I think a more appropriate comparison would be spider riders leaving because of gitmob, which honestly seemed to be the case for a while at least
>>97793122That's like expecting Blightkings to be refreshed - they're from 8th edition! That's like expecting Ork Boyz to be refreshed - they're from 2021!
>>97793132Honestly I’m surprised (pleasantly, mind you) that they still stuck around. Would have guessed they would leave with bone splitters but I guess that would make the reason for their removal a bit too transparent.
>>97793145Same here I thought at least the basic rider kit would be gone when the tome dropped.
>>97792935They're obviously meant to be an elite infantry choice, Witch Elves are a separate thing.
>>97793028I'm interested in slapping the griffin gallant on the Griffin I got fearing it would be OOP in 3rd, I guess it'll be a proxy Tahlia or ideally a custom hero in a RoR (because I want to run Gryph Hounds and kitbash leftover Cogfort bits for variant artillery like a flamethrower on a cannon base) Gargants and Wildercorp 2.0 are pretty meh, it's just too homogenous at this point I think
Since GW is quietly killing TOW, will we get beastmen back?
>>97793028I have a small cities army already, which I'll probably add to with some of the smaller stuff. Not in a hurry to buy the big models though, they look great, I just know from experience what a pain in the ass centerpiece models are to build, store, transport etc.
>>97793154Boole said yes actually, together with Cathy (under new name) and un-announxed Nipple they're going to AoS

So, you think one box of Blood Hags will be enough or should I buy two?
>>97793154I think beastmen are possible when gw is done with other chaos factions and has a moment to stop and design the gavespawn reinvention
>>97793220you're going to end up with two sets of exact clones unless you're willing to bust out the clippers and greenstuff.
>>97793220I would hunt for the underworlds bands instead of getting a second box
>>97793215>he said !notcathay etc, which means at best it's some chinese inspired human units. I really don't think cathay is getting ported over wholesaleI don't really believe this part of the rumor, but I believe GW cranking out knock-off Brett and Cathay armies for AoS even less. At best I can see GW creating lore/rules for some TOW armies to be played in AoS without making entire new model ranges for them. With Cathay especially, making a brand new model range of a brand new model range beggars belief.
>>97793142>That's like expecting Blightkings to be refreshed - they're from 8th editionSpiritually, it’s still there. They just stretched out its design between two units, the rot swords and the titular blightnkings. >but anon the mutations Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what maggotkin get with endless spells in 5th, A unit of mutated chaos warriors, although the cheap out answer is that they already got mutated units with pestigors and their weird pouches. Anyways, even when the witch elves do happen to get pulled from the range, itll be when Daughters of Khaines identity becomes realized. When that happens I expect at least two, maybe 3 depending if they really care about the schisims that are present in the lore, to at least bare a resemblance to what gets pulled. Though as fucked as it sounds, Daughters probably won’t be realized until khaine comes into their fold. >orks I don’t really pay attention to 40k much but that’s a kit that’s been primed to go since those molds were finalized. A better comparison would be back to Aos and the wight on steed, and even that’s still understandable because it was so that the it could adhere to the asthetics of the new skeletons. The bigger question there is why the fuck didn’t the foot wight king go? The blasted bastard even already has artwork of a potential model for him in the sbgl book. There’s still othar the half fucking king too which I still haven’t been able to find even when I went a dozen game stores across the state while on errands.
>>97793230It's honestly by far the weirdest part of the rumour to me too, which is funny considering the nature of the rest of those posts. But yeah it's weird, maybe this is like a nurgle troggoth situation and it's him making assumptions based on looks idk.
>>97793225>>97793229Yeah, I just found that the only thing that's optional is standard/shuriken for one model. I ordered just one box. Can't do even head swaps without greenstuff.
>>97793230Gw is dead set on separating the settings, so no. What I can see is gw completely failing to understand what people wanted from cites and rather than putting non-humans in there, they put humans in certain factions to display order co-operation. Lumineth gets the Chinese, either sylvaneth or cities get the Bret’s, and Japan (I’m not fucking saying it’s gw slave name) is probably going to a rendition of whatever daughters of khaine ends up when malerion comes home. Or maybe they just do a really fucked up version of dogs of war when they enable allies and mix them all there.
>>97793230>I don't really believe this part of the rumorme neither, I think he saw something like pic related: unknown symbols on a map, maybe a fancy artwork of a weird inhabitant of the world, and drew the wrong conclusions of those being different future factions instead of examples of human cities.
>>97793230Ditto. GW even banned HH drednoughts in 40k for crying out loud. 40k and HH are the same setting, same factions, same bases - just different times - and James STILL keeps them separate. AoS and TOW will stay apart - and that's a GOOD thing.
>>97793262>Gw is dead set on separating the settingsCurrently, that is true. It may not always be true, though, it wouldn't be the first time GW turned on a dime before launching into some random new retarded direction. Also saying that Nippon is a slave name is weird, that's literally just what Japan is called in it's native language
>>97793262>gw slave nameNippon is the Japanese name of Japan you idiot.

Anyone happens to have Ushoran epub?
>>97793278>>97793282It’s the formal way of saying Japan, doesn’t mean it’s the way to say it. There is Nihon, which is more loose, which would have been a better label. Also Nippon just sounds fucking awful when most English speakers try and attempt to say it.
>>97793306HH was made as an excuse to pump out slightly different space marine models, that's their bread and butter. Custodes is different because it's a hyper-specific small model range of new (at the time) models that they have no particular reason to change between settings. If Chaos Warriors are the Marines of Fantasy (They pretty much are) than Cathay would be the Custodes. Though again, I'm not saying it's definitely happening. I'm just saying that in the specific case of Cathay, sharing models makes way more sense than creating a separate spin-off range of a new army that just released five minutes ago.
>>97793290Custodes are exceptions BECAUSE GW is trying to force female custodes on us. When it comes to ideology, there's no barrier a woke corporat will not cross to shove that ideology down your throat.
>>97793317cathay has reason to change between settings
>>97793319Anon, Custodes were shared models for a thousand years before female custodes were even an idea, you retard.
>>97793319I’d rather Chinese ideology not be forced down my throat thank you~ Anyways zonn is such a shit character, I don’t get why he’s forcing this division between humans and the lumineth in hysh.
>>97793321Does it though? There's literally no existing lore for Cathay in AoS, so there's no particular reason they need to change anything. More importantly, you have to consider the timelines. For Not-Cathay to be a rumored (imminent) release for AoS as a separate model line, you would need to believe that GW has done most if not all of the work in creating this AoS specific Chinese spin-off BEFORE IT WAS EVEN RELEASED FOR TOW. It requires you to believe that work on AoS Not-China the army was underway at least three years ago, if not longer.
>>97793330You do realise that James changed the lore of custodes way before release of new models, right? And there was a time when HH models could be used in 40k. KYS, tranny.
>Warcry gets a coop supplement complete with new models Fuck, this would be perfect for Warcry
>>97793330NTA but no. ADB was on Reddit in 2016 claiming that his push for female Custodes was only been temporarily denied because the models were already been made, and GW only started separating the settings like two editions later.
>>97793317>HH was made as an excuse to pump out slightly different space marine models, that's their bread and butter. HH Pods are 40k pods but reboxed buddy.
>>97793347>For Not-Cathay to be a rumored (imminent)But we don’t know that. We don’t even know what the end of campaign stuff will look like. Literally all our rumors are battletome related and the only thing not related to that was skaven which was shown off already. I think there are rumors of Khul fucking a city in aqshy over but I don’t think that even matters when he’s just a part of a realm wide city extermination handler.
>>97793154Most likely we'll get khorngors, since currently they're the only chaos subfaction without their beastmen sidekicks.
>>97793356Yeah I mean I would hope so>>97793379Isn't khorne also supposed to get khul at some point

>>97793386I've absolutely no idea to be honest.
>>97793317>Custodes is differentDrop pods were the same exact model in 40k and HH, and then 40k got a new model but HH kept the old one. >>97793386>Isn't khorne also supposed to get khul at some pointI would be surprised if he doesn't.
>>97793306I still can't get over the fact that 40k players will pay real money for this ugly triangle that should just a couple optional rules. I guess when it comes to space marines, there's nothing they won't pay for.>>97793308you don't want it. Book is about 15% from his perspective and it's not particularly interesting and 85% from the perspective of a boring idiotic leader from one of the human cities. The writer just portrays Ushoran as a really nice leader while having to trip overhimself to make the human leader fuck up so Ushoran doesn't just lose. GW's writing of any of the antagonistic races is almost always dissapointing. You can tell they give the writers a minimum word count for how much of the book has to be from the big bad's perspective and the writer will make sure they never go over.
>>97793220didn't they just squat the doomfire warlocks? You probably need them just to have an army of something besides snake ladies and witch elves. It's tragic cities gets all those new units while DoK get's next to nothing and loses as much as they get

>THE HAMADRITHIL>‘Though it is inhabited by no few Sylvaneth whose sapblood has been soured by hate, the true nature of the Hamadrithil is known only to Alarielle and its most feared inhabitant : my sister Drycha. It is a rift obscured by writhing shadows and surrounded by an aura of unspeakable malice. To stand close to the Hamadrithil's entrance is to feel the sensation of a fell presence straining at the leash – a presence that vibrates with insatiable hunger. Alarielle herself has journeyed into its depths more than once, though she has never divulged to me of what lies at its heart.>There are whispers, of course. Some insist that within the rift a godbeast is sealed: a chitinous leviathan that can project its will through trillions of insects. Others say that the Hamadrithil is a forbidden and isolated forest to which the Everqueen sends those magical beasts too monstrous to be allowed to run free. Some radical voices even wander whether the Hamadrithil is connected to that hellish realm inhabited by the Dark Gods and their spawn, although it would surely be insanity for Alarielle to venture into such a portal if that were the case. The truth may never be known, for my mother keeps the rift's location a fiercely guarded secret.’

Chivalrous Nundáth of the Golden Leaf still resist in enemy-held Invidia against all odds, while the Rime-Maiden and her Silent Court represent the defiance of gladeless Winterleaf.>Yet not all of my kin are so valorous. Some are so wounded by the horrors that have befallen our people that they seek any chance for violent revenge: Pale Oak, the Bane of Greywater, who would see all humans drowned and buried beneath the soil if given the chance; Ithil-Spond, the foul-tempered Grum-King; and the cursed Exile of Blacktree, said to be the only creature besides Drycha herself to have been seeded in the forbidden chasm of the Hamadrithil. >>97791417As an outsider looking in, are you actually losing anything if the setting dies? I was explicitly told the setting was designed so anything can happen anywhere and anyone can fight anyone. It’s a setting built on irreverence so it will die irreverently.

>>97792755>Is dragon quest a dead Ip? I thought they were doing alright for themselves. Its just a genuinely outdated IP that no longer resonates with its core audience. That being, the Japanese. I remember seeing a polling for the games demographics somewhat before the recenet remake came out and a majority of the age bracket for dq in Japan consisted of people who were over 40 years old. Its genuinely depressing to mull over. Personally I wish skeletons would just stop being hogged by humans and gw would experiment with undead orcs, dwarves, and so on and so forth. I'd leave the elite stuff like the cavalry and barrow guard to humans.
>>97794603>rhat FS novel where the FS women go barefoot all day>the artwork from wfrp>that shitty Fantasy mobile kusoge where you can play a dwarf womanI hate this meme. Dwarves in Warhammer have women.
>>97794633really when well done Fyreslayers have the potential to be the coolest duardin army out there, can't understand why they don't give a proper update for them.
>>97794651Because they're just one unit from the dwarf army spun off unto its own thing and are less creative than in Fantasy since in Fantasy they had the goblin-hewer warmachine and Slayer Pirates. GW plays it too safe with AoS.

>>97794660That doesn't prevent anything, it's just an indictment of GW's lack of creativity.
>>97794676All Keepers of Secrets are hermaphrodites
>>97794672DoK is at least spun off of three dark elf units: witches, harpies, and the bloodwrack medusa. Even then GW already ran out of ideas, removed their cavalry, and added replacement shades instead.I'm sure the cauldron is going away too, since they have the new snake heroine and elf foot heroine and now a new cauldron terrain piece and the guards now are unit themselves so they really have no reason to keep it around and I hate it.

>>97792755>I understand the criticism that they're a bit too elite, makes them very similar to the barrow guardI feel like the internal plan was initially to do that, but then when the whole Cursed City shit happened they felt the need to pivot into the whole Cursed City look just being the general aesthetic of the Soulblight faction. I wish it wasn't the case. Not that I don't like the Eastern Euro look of their armor, but it just doesn't strike me as what should be the general look for them. Cursed City having so many characters revamped into general AOS units pretty much just turned Soulblight into Cursed City: the Faction. It's all just Vyrkos vampires and that kinda sucks.

>The crowd heckled and howled as the dark-skinned woman ditched her shield. She tossed the heavy object at Tarax – who shifted gracefully aside – then rushed her. She wove simple effective patterns with her duelling sabre, probing the High Gladiatrix's defences and not allowing her to swing her whip.>They exchanged more strikes, sword on Khainite dagger, a smile breaking out across Tarax's face as she realised she was truly being tested>‘You have talent,’ she said. ‘Tell me, how did you find yourself in the pits of Draichi Ganeth?’>‘I slew one of yours,’ her opponent said, impassively. ‘Believe me, she deserved it. I made it last.’>Without warning, the human charged Tarax again. She feinted before unleashing a slashing combination that should have carved open the Gladiatrix's face. But Tarax simply collapsed into a backwards somersault, her rising feet striking the woman's sword-hand and bending her wrist back with a snap. The human gasped and cursed, dropping her weapons; the aelf lashed out with her whip, tangling the woman's legs and wrenching her to the floor. Tarax was on her in a flash, dagger at her throat. The crowd roared in anticipation of the kill.>‘Listen to them,’ hissed the defeated warrior. ‘Do it!’>The High Gladiatrix smiled and stood back, leaving the woman lying in the dirt. A chorus of jeers rained down from above, but she ignored it. Let them howl.>‘You fought well,’ she said, sheathing her dagger. ‘Better than any human I have crossed blades with lately. Khaine is honoured. And there will be enough gore spilt to sate his every desire, believe me.’Do you think love can bloom in the gladiator pits of Draichi Ganeth?
>>97795202I love Warcry but have conceded it's dead. At the same time, the rules are great overall and it's a super fun game so we're still playing it and have been homebrewing new scenarios and terrain sets

>>97795043That’s why I’m so surprised at the response outside of 4chan. TGA and Reddit are acting like GW is going to come into our homes and destroy all our old books and lobotomize us so we can’t play older editions of AoS. Even if they turn AoS into Warhammer fantasy on circles they can’t change what we already have.
>>97795331A generic flying hero would be welcome, khinerai or no. Could be something on a mount, I don't care. It'd just be nice to have a flyer who's not Morathi or Krethusa.

>>97795364Because we already went through this once with the end times and haven't forgiven nor forgotten.Maybe it'll be a good thing and force teach people again to not take GW's fluff to heart and wean them of the concept that Warhammer is the only game or story in town.
>>97795306I got a warcry box and want to give it a go but it's funny to me that some people think that after a year of radio silence GW is going to keep supporting it.
>>97795364Playing dead game without GW support is painful. It's possible, yes, but you suffer nontheless.
>>97795454Yeah, TOW has it hard nowadays
>>97795454>Playing dead game without GW support is painful. No it's not. They won't meddle with it, they won't change or ruin it in any way. It's what you consider a finished product.
>>97795454>Mordheim>WarmasterBoth in great shape. Then Necromunda and Blood Bowl got "official support" and GW shat through bed.
Wasn't Erasmus supposed to have a laser pistol? Wasn't that what the leak said?
>>97795454Mordheim and Blood Bowl both flourished without Games Workshop
>>97795484Mordheim is a very special case. It was a very good SKIRMISH game from the getgo and it only had one edition, with good fluff in acknowledged setting, beloved my many.Age of Sigmar has none of that. It was rejected by most of the Warhammer community, the lore is a mess and setting is universally hated.>warmasterNever saw anyone playing it.
>>97795519like a 40k las pistol, like what Amazons used in fantasy?
>>97795559I think it was described more like a tiny luminark.
>>97795558Let's not get carried away calling Mordheim good as a game. Fluff and flavor is top-notch, no disagreement there.
>>97795537Boxed games are different beast. Games like WFB, AoS, 40k etc. die without constant refresh of models, new armies and units. Didn't wfb example teach you anything?
>>97795559Man, I really wish something as silly as a laspistol or bolter and chainsword as a rare chaos god gift was carried over to modern fantasy.
>>97793230>With Cathay especially, making a brand new model range of a brand new model range beggars belief. You cannot say that without getting a peak at their internals.Cathay was a naked attempt to appeal to the Asian market, but we don't know how that worked. If it worked well, making Asian-themed AoS markets actually makes perfect sense (and I wouldn't be surprised if 40K 11th intros a new army with similar coding)
>>97795691>and I wouldn't be surprised if 40K 11th intros a new army with similar codingget ready for tau 2!!!!!
>>97795691If it didn't work well we wouldn't be getting Cathay and Nippon for AoS.
>>97795559I keep pitching prismatic realmstone rifles for CoS but James doesn't read my posts.
>>97795691>Asian marketDoubt that. Asians don't play Warhammer and expensive new china-themed army wouldn't change that. It was a safe option after Kislev became a hot potato because of our Dark Lord Putin the Great. TOW nedeed something new - and Cathay had luck.
>>97795729Wasn't that the "fake" part of the leak?Honestly i doubt they will add literally three fucking humanoid factions to AoS.
>>97795755I don't. GW thought Kharadrons and Fyreslayers were good ideas.
>>97795761>kharadrons>bad ideayou have pointy ears or something against ballons?
>>97793347So first of all, the trickery of your post is concealing a huge assumption in tight little descriptor you've concocted for the day, rumored (imminent).GW develops things 5 years out all the fucking time. More if we're just talking about 2D concept art, where they literally can haul out decades-old inspo. That's what "imminent" means in this context.Secondly, what better time would there have been to work on AoS notcathay than when they were concepting and designing Cathay, neck deep in their Chinese history research, literally taking meetings with the Chinese culture consultant team, etc? That is absolutely exactly when they would've started work on this stuff.

>>97793558I don't know how someone can live in a delusion like this. I guess just wilfully staying ignorant, and jealously guarding your 25-year-old priors so they don't accidentally update your brain software?Modern tournament culture has moved far away from what you just described. Nowhere is this better exemplified than in the ubiquitous devotion to "playing to intent" (which would have been considered a laughable utopian dream from 1990-2020). Most modern tourney freaks want to test themselves against quality opponents in a mistakes-free enviroment. This is not a defence of tourneysexuals, btw. Their willingness to cut out the creative/narrative heart of wargaming to turn it into a gay sport is horrendous, as is their idea of a "worthy test" that comes in the form of playing an awfully-designed game that will be rejumbled every 3 years no matter what. But you're operating on an understanding of tourneyfag culture that is a decade and more out of date.
