TQmythics never get reminder text
>>97800605>How complicated should something be before it gets reminder text? The only keyword I play is trample.
>>97800628Impeccably based.
>TQHard to say. I don't think Rad counters needed it, but so many people can't remember what to do with them is absurd. So below that I guess.
>>97800690I would've accepted something like this too, but I haven't played those games in like 20 years so I don't remember the lore behind the weapon
TQReminder text isn't there to describe complexity, it's mostly there for one of two reasons:>When card effects are trying to describe an existing effect with new templating. Vigilance occasionally had reminder text for this purpose.>When card effects have an interaction which is important for the card, but which might not be known by players lacking an in-depth knowledge of the rules, like the assassin's creed reprint of Reconnaissance.
I really like this card. What commander is the best way to make use of it?
>>97800716Probably blink effects via Abdel and a red background
>>97800690Is this from a Soul Eater crossover?
>>97800703Good choice in terms of abilities. I might make one with another instance of Soul Edge (Cocoon, Phantom, etc.)My main reasons for Drach were that it had to be legendary and the opposite of Soul Calibur (Mono White).
>>97800728Street Urchin?
>>97800716If not massive flickering, then ol' reliable with modular creatures
>>97800739That would be how I do it, its a little funky because blue has a few good blink effects too but you can't always get everything you want
I miss pirate-themed cards.
>>97800797Okay? We still get them
>>97800716Breya, or another artifact sacrifice focused commander like Bjorna+Partner or cowboy breeches seem well suited to it
Teysa looks like a high class hooker
>>97800797>got them in LCI>got them in DFTAre you a big dumb idiot or something
>ban most of the banlist>bring back the tuck rule>bring back the old legendary rule>ban UB cards by defaultThere. I fixed the format.
>>97800815She looks like your mom.
>>97800716Krark-Clan ironworks, efficient construction, and sword of the meek make it go infinite. But the non-token clause really holds it back.
>>97800826There's nothing more chud than implying you're a chad for milquetoast opinions.
>>97800859I want to fuck my mom?!?!?!
>>97800903What's the combo here? Where are you getting infinite artifact casts?
>>97800823Yes.
>>97800605>activated ability to sink mana into before my turn so I can hold up interaction on my opponents turns (plus loads of instant-speed "army-in-a-can" cards in GW)>protection ability allows me to chuck loads of boardwipes into my deck and make them one-sided as long as I lean into tokensAm I crazy for thinking this dude might make for a decent bracket 2 control deck?
>>97801013b2? Yeah he'd be great, especially since his anthem hits all others tokens as well and not just the soldiers he creates
>>97801013Yeah, he's pretty cool. It gets very sprout swarm-y once you get cryptolith rites going.
>>97800716Lobster chef
>Try to build deck where there's no draw in the command zone>Instantly feel like I'm choking out on resources by like turn 6I've been spoiled by commanders that solve this problem singlehandedly, I need to include more actual draw effects in my deck huh.
How come Atraxa, Grand Unifier is such a highly-rated commander?Love the art, but I just can't see the line of play. She's got good french vanilla stats, and can draw up to eight cards on entering the battlefield, but with a lategame mana cost and midrange effects (strong creature, a bunch of draw) I can't help but think that she makes more sense to have in the library than as a commander. If she's not part of any engine, there's no need to have reliable access to her, and it's hard to cheat out a commander. Is it just for the colour spread since there's so few four-colour commanders? Is the idea to play a "creature spells you cast have convoke" effect so you can get her out at a more appropriate time? Do you just stax the game until you can play her, and suddenly have a big hand of useful cards when everyone else is struggling?>>97801013I think it'd make more sense to instead just pile on lots of token-sparing effects and use a better commander. There's enough cards that do what you're looking for (wrath that spares your creatures) that you don't need to guarantee it Here's the ones I can think of off the top of my head:Ainok Strike Leader: Similar to King Darien.Expel the Interlopers: Sacrifice wrath. If you've got the most creatures, you can force everyone to sacrifice their best stuff while keeping your best stuff.Calamity of Cinders: Cheap to cast if you've got lots of creatures, hits most of your opponent's creatures for 6 damage.Hour of Reckoning: Wrath that spares tokens.Rootborn Defenses: Copies a token, makes everything indestructible.Song of Freyalise: Ramp that later gives indestructibility. The Seriema: You could use it to fetch King Darien from your library, have your tokens charge it up, then do a wrath that all your legendaries and King Darien are protected from.
>>97801196You either have a draw engine in the command zone or have to dedicate like 15+ fucking cards for it/enough tutors to reliably draw one in time to get your engine out. It's awful
>>97800826>bring back tuckWelcome to chaos warp in every deck.
>>97801242And that's a good thing!
>>97800826>bring back the tuck ruleBring back people not being scared of their commanders being put on top of their library instead, holy fuck.>friend has cast his 4cmc commander three times>another player draws into pic rel and tucks it out of desperation>he chooses to send it to the fucking command zone instead of drawing it and playing it again next turn for 4manaHow do people make terrible decisions like this???
>>97801290>responding to the local schizos ritual posts
>>97801231It's tough man. I feel like it's a cop out to swap to a do thing draw card commander but testing for pic rel feels kind of rough since I need a lot of draw to actually make use of the discount/shapeshift.I guess a deck I can tinker with is better than one I can't.
>>97801013Go forth my friend
>>97801314ummm bluebros? did we just get blueballed?
UB cards like superheroes or sonic are already softbanned because nobody in their right mind would put them into a deck outside from trying to make a joke.
>>97801343I run this and Morbius in my self-mill Nexus of Fate wincon deck because I love cards that fo shit from the graveyard
>>97801196>>97801231>>97801302I find it's best to look for way to get card advantage/virtual card advantage/filtering that can be an organic part of your strategy. With that Sarkhan for example, including dragons like Marang River Regent, Dragonhawk, Niv Mizzet Dracogenius, Drakuseth, can give you some advantage while you're "doing the thing".Even something as small as vigilance can be a form of virtual card advantage; being able to attack and block the following turn can feel like having an extra card in the right situation.
wilson/far traveler control
Can you avoid paying cumulative upkeep by removing the age counters as soon as they're placed? Or is placing the counters then paying the upkeep a single event that you can't remove the counters in the middle of?Wondering if Sustaining Spirit makes sense in a Tayam deck, 'cause if I can remove the counters without paying upkeep, then Sustaining Spirit simply feeds Tayam counters while giving protection but if I have to pay 1W every turn it's not nearly as good.
>>97801383It's one event. Run Solemnity to avoid costs entirely.
>>97801290>skill isue
>>97801383I think the way it works is that the counter being placed happens the same time as you try to pay it so there's not a point of timing where you can activate something to remove the age counter before you need to pay the cost.
what's a good ultrabudget commander that isn't a voltron strategy imo
>>97801402I don't know, why do you need us to tell you your own opinion?
>>97801402
>>97801402>voltronLight Paws>not voltronMy man Krenko
>>97801414Krenko is too expensive
>>97801414I've found johnny B to be much more winnable than lightpaws, haste adds a lot, the "group hug" shield throws people off, plus you're not tutoring every game action
>>97801402Some commanders are great at making bad cards good, so they're not beelining for the same expensive cards as everyone elseJinnie Fay can double or even triple the effectiveness of a bad token creator, e.g. Glistening Dawn is not a valued card but it's devastating when she uses it.
>>97801424He's garbage UB slop albeitShan't be running him
>>97801463>Give me something good>here is good>No thanks, I'm dumb and gaymany such cases
>>97801461Why is Glistening Dawn a good card? Doesn't it just make two dogs/cats?
>>97801475You run THIS as your commanderYou literally suck cocks
>>97801482rude
>>97801477it makes two 6/6 cats
>>97801196You've been spoiled by pods that don't just path your commander the turn it drops too. Much to be grateful for!
>>97801543its cool he still does his job
I've actually been building Light-Paws recently, this is my list so far: https://moxfield.com/decks/iD_qGNbj40KDlVsOto1A3wI haven't really played Voltron before so idk if it's any good, is there anything i should really add still?
>>97801553>$160too tryhard, lightpaws should stomp small tables for $20
>>97801572he cute :)
>>97801402She's like $5 but also the rest of the deck will be like $5 too desu
>beat a kefka blink deck by just always having more cards in handIs there a more satisfying feeling?
>>97801586winota costs a dollar if you want the ugly version
>>97801586i s2g this and kinnan are like the most pushed commanders in existence. like how are these text boxes fair
Meanwhile you have these two partners that don't even synergize very well. Sad!
>>97801611Why are the commander variant of these dudes pirates? The in set Bebop & Rocksteady look way cooler
>>97801591haha yeah I love Amano's art but I know it's not for everyone so I chose the more "reasonable" card/price
>>97801482nta he looks kind of fun for a voltron commander is he very hated?i don't give a fuck about doctor who so i was gonna custom proxy this card with art that i thought was cool
>>97801242You're acting like chaos warp isn't already the second most played monored card.
>>97801646Hated? Hard to say, probably. He does have a reputation, though. Once you have everything set up you're drawing like 10+ cards a turn
commandercycling
>>97801651yeah i was fixing to run him with annoying shit like rot priest, alms collector and wild defiance.i know doctor who is a brit bong show from when i lived there as a small boy so i'll replace his art with some art work of the SAS and run him with helm of the host too.The wandering minstrel looks really cool as well have they broken him yet? i haven't played magic in 6 years...
>>97801646Boring and linearIt's like any bogles deck. It's so unimaginably boring to play. You will not have fun. Your opponents will not have fun.
>>97801658I'm all for more Command Beacon effects. That shit should not be 5 fucking dollars
>>97801664>The wandering minstrel looks really cool as well have they broken him yet?Dunno about broken but he's the best budget 5c commander in the entire game, it's not even close. You can include all the 10cent gates/tap lands with forests/islands and have him out reliably on T2-3
>>97801630I have no idea why they didn't give these two partner
>>97801670Putting fourteen enchantments on one creature is fun thoughbeit
>>97801676It would be busted in limited, the format these two were designed for

>>97801343Are you a tard?
>>97801772Wow uh huh average bogles enjoyerThe video is just a professional bogles player saying bogles isn't funMost pro players who have been on bogles think it's a shit archetypeIt's not funSpending every game ramping up to your commander then casting auras on them every turn is not a fun play pattern
>>97800826I'd just sell my collection.

>>97801463Don't ask for suggestions if you have autistic criteria you don't even list. Fucking waste of sperm. Fucking hate when you faggots do this. No one here is psychic.
Anyone have good new commander suggestions? No UB slop albeit.
>>97801826Yea find a better game
>>97801826sorry bud can't help you
>>97801826I like how this one comes with a sub-theme in face-downs. It would probably appreciate some of the UB cards though.
>>97801847no blacks please.
>>97801811Can't hear you over that dick you're gagging on UB boy
>>97801826Threaten tribal, stolen from another anon a few threads back. Steal people's big baddies and emerge eldrazi for near-free from them. Is black cat better than 4gonti or is the 1 extra mana cost too crippling?
>>97801922>hating the coolest tribe in mtgThey all have neat designs, slapping people with annihilator is fun, and they have a lot of wacky abilities like Herigast, Ulalek, and so on.
