I like my LGS
Had a Cyclops get KOd from a head hit, fall prone, and then get DFA'd, which displaced it off the board... This fucking game sometimes.
>>97807602Now post the game room.
Aerospace question:Is unit composition a lot more standardized or is it as flexible as it is for ‘Mechs?
>>97807721There's a lot smaller variety of chassis and things usually operate in aero lances of 2 same variants instead of total fucktotal comps.
>>97807721How aerospace units are even arranged is a lot more varied (what is a Wing? What is a Squadron? What comprises a Flight? The answer is different depending on who you are), but as the other anon said, it's usually matched groups of at least two of the same chassis. Personally, I arrange all my vehicles as pairs. My tank Lances/Platoons (what you call a group of 4 tanks also changes depending on who you are, but to a lesser extent) are all 2 pairs.
>>97807644Begone THOT!That's pretty funny anon.Last game I had a completely untouched Dragon eat charge which the first roll was a floating critical to the side torso... nothing in there but ammo. Boom.Fucking Dragons, they always die when I use them.
Matched pairs is a thing
>>97807841Last game for me was a turn 1 shot 1 gauss rifle to the head of my commander's mech from a hidden unit.
>>97807850Cultured anons call those "demi-lances".
>>97807119>>97807137This man has fought and bled to keep the ideals of the Republic. He has sacrificed, been brought to the brink of death repeatedly, continues on only through sheer will - and replacement parts. He can't let people see a broken down old man, can't let the scars show. He has to be a shining paragon, whole in body, soul, and mind. And so he has done what has to be done to be the hero he has to be, that the Republic needs right now. Not in the future - he doesn't expect to live long enough to see his dreams bear fruit - but right now when they need him the most. To be an inspiration that will bring the light to others. He pilots a "Star Crusader" and seems utterly devoted to the machine. He does all the cockpit maintenance himself.

Do plasma cannons mounted on vehicles and protomechs require heatsinks and amplifiers? The boggart seems to imply yes for protemechs, while I may be misreading the recognition guide, since I can’t find any stat sheets for vehicles like the plasma pike which tell me it’s number of heat sinks.

>>97809055An m16 is nowhere near as powerful as a tank cannon.
>>97809048Modern ammunition vs an outdated shell, it's like claiming "a dart from a gun can harm a tank but the ball from my 32pdr cannon cannot"Also, vehicle scale machineguns in Battletech are 30-35mm cannon, roughly the size of an A10's main gun.
>>97809048Do these look like the kind of people who would have any idea what a tank main gun round could or could not do?
>>97809055Ablative armor so fragile that it should be getting pulverized to dust and falling off the mech just from the impact of walking around is probably not reasonably useful.
>>97809064Conventional infantry machine guns, not even crew served, can damage mech armor.
>>97809048Battletech had a breakthrough in material technology. Each round is engraved with an argument about real physics in fictional weapons. It is the densest substance discovered so far.
>>97808927>elect most libertarian government>that's not a captalism problem.Every time>proceeding to spend the gdp they should have upon their own defence on retarded welfare programs instead,How exactly it's related to US taking ammo other countries purchased from US military industrial complex and rerouting all shipment to CSF enclave without returning payments?
Can everyone just take a moment to remember that standard armors aren't purely ablative in-universe and aren't even purely ablative going by the rules alone(light rifles)?In-universe and according to the rules it is also supposed to be capable of deflecting projectiles harmlessly on occasion.Battletech's armor is ablative in addition to being capable of acting as conventional all or nothing armor.

>>97809161Buddy a shotgun, SMG, bolt action rifle and semi auto pistol all do different damage to armor, to say nothing of various laser weapons. It's not grenades. You are conflating a setting being something you like with a setting being high powered, and reaching for conclusions not supported by the mainline text.
>>97809161I love abstraction. It's the playground of imagination.
>>97808571You can message them and ask. I got pieces that way.
>>97809202The lowest of those is the baseline grenade damage. The higher one's represent rifle grenades, under barrel launchers, special shells, etc. imo platoons should have 2 damage groups, one for soft targets and one for armoured targets, rather than CGL's attempt to roll them into one value. Read the rpg rules, small arms quite literally do nothing to a mech bar maybe scratch the paint, and even man portable launchers do very little unless fired enmasse

Why have we never got a combined arms RTS for Battletech? Would be sweeeeeet.
How authoritarian is the Taurian Concordat? I remember someone here once posted a detailed list of all the shit they do after getting fed up with the space Texas memes.
>>97809314"He went that way"
>>97809319If mechcommander lived longer it might have eventually became that. But the sun has set on both RTS and battletech by then.
Reminder that this single statcard invalidates the existence of the whole setting.
>>97809319Probably because it actually would suck. There's been a few mods that tried, Rusted RTS has a few, and in each case either mechs become irrelevant or everything else becomes worthless fodder.
>>97809344>Probably because it actually would suck.Yes yes, the world sucks, nothing is ever good. Now fuck off, mate. >>97809330Someone should resurrect that.
>>97809344The wargame series would actually be perfectly suited to a battletech overhaul if anyone actually wanted to go through the titanic effort of attempting that, but it would obviously work much better as a dedicated title in the series built to be a battletech version of wargame.
>>97809349Mitch Gittleman wanted to get the mechcommander license since the game has sentimental value to him.Microsoft was not interested.
>>97809362Modding existing wargames might be the only short term solution. Especially in games with more abstraction.Battleplan might be a good candidate if they will not drop the ball on modding.

As entertaining as it would be I don't think seeing the equivalent of say constant Vedette spam is going to be fun long term. Wargame isn't also that easy to mod and if serious might want to use something like Regiments as a base as you can at least use Unity to modify that.>>97809370Microsoft once they got hold of an IP are never going to let it go.>>97809393Really also depends what kind of RTS you want to make. Are you going for something more on the grand scale or close up action style? I did personally think about modding World in Conflict into a Battletech game and it did seem like it could be promising but would take a lot of effort to make right.>>97809413>Thinking critically is badand this is why you'll never get a Battletech RTS because nobody takes the time to look at other projects to see what they did wrong but also did right. Which is why there are so many projects people start that they didn't think through and get abandoned because they realize what they've come out with is an no unfun mess that would take too much effort to fix. It's honestly like the Stargate curse at this stage.
>>97809514Yes yes everything sucks, now off ye fuck.
I've been wanting to do a Dark Age era project for a while and I think I've decided what my Republic Remnant force will be.The bulk of the force will be Republic Standing Guard, so that'll be all my mechs, vehicles and infantry, led by a Knight of the Republic (mech still undecided lol) supported by Fidelis Battle Armour and Protomechs with maybe a Clan mech or two, with any super-heavies like the Ares belonging to the Triarii (mainly because a red and gold Ares would be SEXY).

>>97809712Japanese friend says these are the mechs in this book
>>97810310It's different than Classic and inspired parts of Alpha Strike. If you've played a 'clix game, it's a 'clix game. If you haven't, then every unit has stats arranged on a wheel that turns when they take damage, changing the stats and abilities of that unit. Usually better stats degrade into poorer stats, but sometimes you need to take a few points of damage to use an ability that's only present on a few clicks of the dial. Speaking of, the physical dials are sometimes too tight or too loose, which makes clicking the dial (hence the name Clickytech) a pain. Mechs have an additional heat dial that gives their stats maluses on additional actions. There's an excellent archive of all MW:DA material out on the web, including all rules and dials. If nothing else, it's a good reference. Overall the rules are simple and short. It's points based, with each unit having 3 variants (Novice, Regular and Elite) of differing points cost and stats on their dial. The biggest hurdle I'd say is that it's a combined arms game. Mechs are big and the focus of fire, but until later expansions weren't really that good. Infantry, tanks and other vehicles play a much larger role than in Classic or Alpha Strike.
>>97809764Technical Readout - Dark Age I also suggest the Field Report(AFFS, DCMS, FWLM, LCAF, CCAF, Clans, Periphery) series and Objective Series(AFFS, DCMS, FWLM, LCAF, CCAF, Clans, Periphery) which are in game dated as 3079, but detail the state of each nation as they are after the Jihad and entering the dark age. good for early dark age settings.

If you print, there are some neat files for WoB machines, or the easier targets for Force Packs are the IS Support Lance (Cyclops, Thug and Spider are all WoB-compatible machines and you have the Dragon as an extra) and the IS Battle Lance (Warhammer, Rifleman, PHawk and Wasp are again all WoB-compatible).It's a pity CGL avoids giving anything for Comstar/WoB and instead does useful stuff like, I dunnow, Battlefleet Gothic.
>>97812493It's also a FWL machine and they never stop using it.
>>97812466>>97812493>>97812529Ty for answers but I might worded it wrong, what I meant was not in terms of mechs(I'll get other comstar box and some prints for that) but in vehicles/support units. Are there some I should avoid or is there box that have all wob related vehicles that work fine for them.
>>97812560It's still a Blakist design though, and thus haram is much on the IS.
>>97812592If Comstar were smart, they would have applied their patented sword-shaped-hatchet technology to it. Maybe then it would have stayed with fochtstar.
>>97812613It's still a Blakist design though.
>>97812621It's a comstar design, the blakists were just the splinter that actually made it first.
>>97812637>>97812621>>97812613>>97812592>>97812560ComStar designed, Blakist produced. ComStar never got to produced it so it's basically a Blakist design, plus they altered it a good bit before production so it's Blakist-coded at least.

>>97812704Which changes what I said not one bit :)
>>97812704Wrong. It is. Produced in the FWL by the WoB using materials produced in the FWlL, not directly by the FWL.
>>97812725>it's not produced in the fwl, it's just produced in a preexisting fwl factory on a fwl world using fwl parts, which it had to be specially adapted to because its production is in the fwl, where it remains in production long after the blakists are gone
>>97812790>FWL materialsWhere's it say factories or on FWL worlds, anon?
>>97812790Yeah, and none of that changes the fact, like OP pointed out, that it's a Blakist design based on Com* prototypes lmfao
>>97812807Literally right there in your snippet where it explicitly says why they had to redesign it. Irian Weapons Works, Diverse Optics, and Starflash are FWL brands.
>>97812823And unlike all the iconic ones that get you pegged as some kind of nublakist if you dare use them, it's still in use after the Jihad, all the way to the current era.
>>97812833>League produced parts>materials produced in the FWL>THIS MEANS THEY MADE IT IN FWL FACOTORIES!>THIS MAKES IT A FWL MECHOk buddy.
>>97812840Gibson Federated Battlemechs did not spring up from the ground overnight. The Blakists did not tow the world of Gibson from somewhere near Terra.
>>97812839And that still does not change the fact, that it's a Blakist design based on Com* prototypes. It ain't a League machine anon. And never will be. There's literally nothing to debate here lol
>>97812850Then stop debating. You'll just have to ponder why it's on FWL MULs from its introduction into ilclan.
>>97812857>T-then just stop debating! Ha! You lose!I accept your concession.
>>97812840>>97812850The 3R is still available to the FWL as of current year, so yeah, it is a FWL mech. Also, as >>97812846 points out, the blakists contracted an existing FWL manufacturer to produce the design. That's how quite a lot of blakist mechs got built, you'll find. >Originally a prototype ComStar design that had never entered production on Terra, the fifty-five-ton Buccaneer was swiftly adapted by Precentor Martial Trent Arian to use materials produced in the Free Worlds League, where the nascent order had established its base of operations. >Gibson Federated BattleMechs, a division of Free Worlds Defense Industries, rushed the modified design through an accelerated trial program, and the Buccaneer entered production in late 3055.
>>97812865Okay, keep debating then.
>>97812874>Also, as >>97812846 points outDon't samefag. You can see in pic here >>97812725 that is literally is not. It is a ComStar prototype, turned into a Blakist design. It might be USED by the FWL, but it not a FWL machine. It is a Blakist machine, used by the League.
Oh boy. I see someone used a screenshot from the sourcebooks as proof. Here comes the hours of arguing over something that is either proven or disproven in said screenshot. I shall see you all in a few hours when I check back in. Hopefully this blows over by then.
>>97812897Altered to use FWL parts on a FWL planet in a FWL factory run by a FWL company owned by another FWL company. Gibson is in Regulan space.
>>97812915And yet, it is still a Blakist design based on a ComStar prototype :)Should we keep repeating things to each other and hope the lore changes to fit your retardation eventually?
>>97812924I notice you have yet to address any of the actual points against your argument. Where is Gibson? Who are Gibson Federated Battlemechs? Why is it using Irian and Sunbeam weapons and not a single listed manufacturer from outside of the league?

>>97812940I see you've yet to realise that it's a ComStar prototype, changed and produced by Word of Blake. Just because it is made in FWL territory or used by FWL forces post-Jihad changes nothing. You, in a very literal sense, cannot deny this. It is the truth of the matter. It is a Blakist design, that is used by FWL forces in later eras. That changes fuck all.

>>97812958It is also used by FWL forces in the era it is first produced in. On a FWL planet. In a FWL factory. By a FWL company. Using FWL parts that it had to be specially changed to use because they were the most available. Many mechs can be attributed to more than one faction. The Buccaneer is not special in that regard.
>>97810832Based American. The confederates won the war and killed your country. It just took them 150 years to do it.
>>97812976Uh oh. Right off the bat, the FWL had some. And that's not even addressing the ones they have after the blakists all go bye bye.
>>97812999>>97813023So the WoB GAVE these mechs to the FWL? Hmm, it almost sounds like it's a ComStar prototype, altered by the WoB and produced by the WoB and used by FWL forces after the WoB decided to give them some. So it's an altered ComStar design, produced by the WoB, used by the FWL. Which is what I've been saying.Glad to hear you finally agree :)
>>97813023Nta but >The Blakists give some to the FWL as part of a technology exchange>This makes it a FWL design???
>>97813040>produced by the wobfor the WoB. By a FWL company.By the way, do you argue this much about the Thunderbolt being called a Lyran mech even though it was originally built on Tikonov? Only the original commissioners can be attributed the mech, correct?
>>97813056Anon your own post >>97813023 and this post >>97812976 has proven you're wrong. How long until you take the L?

>>97813054On FWL machines using FWL parts by a FWL company, with continuing FWL production and use after the WoB are gone. Almost every well known mech in this entire fucking game is more well known for being used by a third or fourth party from the nations they were originally made for. Iconic mechs that we easily attribute to the Lyrans or Fedsuns or Cappies were first made by someone else. The fucking Cataphract is more associated with the Davions than the Liaos and all they did was capture the factory.
>>97813070
>>97813074Answered my own question, it was a VMI design.
>>97812967When you plug the numbers into the rocket equation, you get some astounding numbers.Exawatt range drive powers. Fuel power densities that exceed matter-antimatter annihilation. High-relativistic exhaust velocities. The Union-class dropship outputs hundreds of megatons of TNT per second. The drive plume is God's own blowtorch. You don't need Asset Management Weapons - the Union can vaporize continents, or warships, or small moons by pointing the exhaust in their vague direction. You don't need terraforming solar mirrors to thaw out a frozen hellball of planet - just park a Union in high orbit to fake a Sun.In fact you barely need a K-F drive with this tech level, you could just hop systems in subjective weeks-to-months if you just slapped a bit more fuel onto the thing. And random yourdudes operate them by the hundreds.
>>97813077Just because they used it doesn't make it their design. The Buc is a Blake design, ask anyone this. Just because Combine use the Ymir doesn't meant the Ymir is a Dragon design. It remains a Lyran Battlemech.I don't even know why I'm getting involved. This isn't my hill. I don't even like the WoB.
>>97813081None of this changes the fact it's a ComStar porotype altered and made, as said here >>97812976, ESPECIALLY for the WoB. Your L, sir?
>>97813088>>97813096Is the Thunderbolt a Lyran design?
>>97813104Not a Lyran, but it is USED by them. Like how the Buccaneer is a Blakist design USED by the FWL.
>>97813088Most people understand that a mech can be in two factions. Especially if both factions make it. Especially especially if one faction makes it specifically for the other. There are Hermes II made and modified especially for the Dracs. That doesn't make it an exclusive Drac only design just for Dracs and only associated with Dracs.
>>97813111Ans that's where your entire argument falls off a cliff. Nobody ever makes this much of a distinction about mechs. Especially not in-universe, which is what this all started with. If someone post-jihad sees a Buccaneer, they're not going to go "Aaaaaaahhhhhj, a Blakist, run for your lives!"

>>97815061I think the TD9 diverges too heavily for you to get a dedicated model and you'll need to go the conversion route. Most Cronuses would lean to the PPC to cover the base model and 3M variant, rather than the TD9's claws.>>97815207>how thinned should my paints be?Some people will reference the paints acting like Skim Milk, but that's not always the easiest thing to judge. You want the paint to go on smoothly, but neither being really runny/watery or globbing on.Standard Brushes give a fair bit more room for tolerance compared to an Airbrush here. You can control the amount of water on them if you have something soft like toilet paper to brush them on after rinsing them off, which can in turn adjust the paint consistency on the fly. While an Airbrush you have to make sure you got the right thinning so it all flows right.Of relevancy, you need to make sure that if you are using a brush you don't pick up too much paint. Matters little how thin the paint is if you slather the brush in it and slop it on the model. You want to dip only a little bit in and wipe off a little bit of the excess. Even if it doesn't last long before you need to dip the brush back in, it's easier to manage than if you try to go all in at once.>how many coats should I have to put on?Depends on the paint. Some colors go on easier than others, and this can vary strongly from brand to brand. What primer you use can matter for this as well, as painting white over a black primer takes more layers than over a grey, beige, etc. primer.>will painting red over yellow give it more of an orangey color than a purply one?As above, depends on the paint. >>97815233 is right that it will be less of a mix and more adjusting the red's brightness. “For Terra, and for mankind, we forged a path of deliberate evil so that we could save the Promise our Master offered them. Praise be those of our souls who embraced our worst to show the ignorant what true and total war is like. They fell upon their swords proudly, that we could shepherd our own to safety, for the time when the Inner Sphere needs us anew. Blake eleison!”Kino
“Some might call us monsters, in the same fashion as all weapons of war are seen as monstrous. But what we do is for the betterment of all. We accept this responsibility willingly, exchanging our very lives to the Master and his vision for a greater glory all might one day share. That is what it means to be Manei Domini. That is our legacy for the future.”I love the trope of a warrior who neither enjoys nor hates war, and who has no ambitions of supplanting his master, instead he merely does what must be done for the greater good. Somehow, pitying the Frails is worse than hating them lol rather condescending.
“Our time to rise again will come. Maybe not as we are now, or as we were during the Third Transfer, but it will come. That is Blake’s Will. That is the Master’s Promise! With each iteration, we come closer to the day of that final great conflict, the one that will end wars not for twenty years, or fifty years, or a century, but for a millennium at least! As Apollyon is my witness, we shall not fail!”I hope we get to see more of Mot someday. There's a few references to these newer generations of Manei Domini taking part in undocumented assaults or invasions on uncharted worlds. Interesting.

Started a new campaign in the Succession Wars era, 3029, basically using the "tabletop conversion" rules from MW:Destiny for atleast a little bit of book-keeping. Four players, each with their individual lance, against my OpFor, consisting of a battalion+ of 'mechs, vehicles and infantry.Yet another Marik Civil War, set in Kyrkbacken where the leading Duke Heisenberg-Marik has been overthrown by the local Baron Heisenberg-Marik, and so he hires mercenaries to dethrone the pretender. The FWL would help, but is caught up in red tape, leaving the mercs as the only choice.Gave them the option to either focus on setting up their base, go duel a a lance leader who's not entirely sure he wants to fight a civil war but honor demands he atleast do SOMETHING... Or go help out a minor noble who's against the new government.Players chose the third option and to send their Cavalry lance (Wolverine, A slightly time-displaced Cronos, Gladiator and an Enforcer) on the mission. The objective? Ensure the Lord's Blackjack survives, ensure the Lord's estates survive, and drive off the Marik forces (Quickdraw, Crusader, Trebuchet, Dervish). The Marik forces tried to meet the Mercenary threat, but lost their Crusader to twin ammo explosions early on. They made a retreat through the lord's estates, setting them on fire, but failed to actually bring the structures down, allowing for the fires to be contained. The grateful lord pledged his allegiance to help the Mercenaries with his Blackjack and two Harasser Missile Platforms. In the next mission, the mercenary recon lance will try to fight off against a probing Marik force to drive them away from their base of operations...

Hi I am looking for a learning scenario with the following criteria>Must have minor BV disparity (in order to favor the newbie)>Must have an objective other than Deathmatch (both for more fun and to keep the game from taking more than a couple hours)>Ideally deals in sub-lance quantities of mechs (3v3 being max, things like 3v2 are allowed)Does anyone have anything that matches those?
>>97816360Take a Shadow Hawk and Vindicator and give the new player a Wolverine and Griffin. That way you are gimping yourself a bit but not outright handing victory over to the new player plus all designs are new player friendly.I would play a deathmatch really to begin with but if you insist on an objective something like a CTF match, either one flag or two that you need to return to a base. Nothing too fancy.
>>97816333>. For years they were smugly going on about how they'd fuck the Suns up in a real fight, and then like half the Periphery March and a single merc unit slapped them insensible.Nothing CGL publishes is canon so this never happened.
>>97816391What Wolverine variant would you give them?I was hesitant to include things with jump jets but it might be fine
>>97816401SHD-2HVND-1RGRF-1NWVR-6RSo basically the base variants. JJ are fine to include since about the only one that really has to properly think about heat levels here is the Griffin and its not exactly hard to manage.
>>97809362I’ve been playing a lot of modded WARNO recently. There’s a Star Wars mod and a Horus Heresy mod both with a few active players. A Battletech mod would be difficult, couldn’t really do components for mechs, or heat. Without those it would just become mechs bursting each other down with energy boats reigning supreme.
>>97816418In past learning games I've actually tended to give the SHawk to the newbie so that they don't have to worry about heat yet (obviously in such a way that they still have a BV advantage). We can try this too. I've also used other mechs like the Blackjack, the Whitworth and the Enforcer in learning matches to good effect. One other question: what pilot skills would you give them? 4/5? I tried 3/4 vets in previous newbie scuffles and hoboy the lethality is quite high

>>97816483Generally anything introtech in the medium bracket tends to be a good shout. I just find those four I picked tend to be the best if teaching someone is new to the game as they cover quite a lot while being easy to use and if really want models then those models are in the intro box sets, plus also got hands for objective play.I prefer doing things at 4/5 for starters as its a little less punishing for making a bad move and found it also encourages a bit of melee play.
>>97815852>equipment that allowed you to do the opposite and grow a Woods on a HexFunctionally equivalent to smoke LRMs. Granted those “woods” have a tendency to get up and move, but still.

>>97816259its a book about an urbanmech LAM it seems.
>>97816871Lame.
>>97816333There's also an additional factor about the weapons. The tabletop is explicitly not lore accurate. Scale of the mechs is expressly not the scale of the map, and accurate weapon ranges are 10x what the rules say they are but those aren't used because you would need a giant map and you'd functionally be playing a cover shooter like that. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.
>>97815852>Honestly I'd love more dynamic terrain alteration in general, like equipment that allowed you to do the opposite and grow a Woods on a Hex.With the amount of rules already out there for accountanttech and the existing industrial equipment allowing civvie mechs and other stuff to be made, I'd be shocked if there wasn't a way to play IndustryTech broken up by Classic Battletech Pirate raids to do this.

How would you anons handle the IlClan era if you were in charge today, and unable to retcon things or force the timeline backwards? You need to build from what we currently got.For these purposes, the 3250 minimum is that there is a person on Terra with some form of power claiming to be IlKhan of the Star League, and there is some Mechwarrior program named after the original Gunslingers. You can treat everything else from the 3250 forewards as whatever degree of propaganda you want.

Plus as an omnimech it has a lot of fixed equipment that isn't great.
>>97818055I guess it's the end of MWO-style we know.
>>97818377In a lot of ways, the Ares is an Urbanmech. It has so many small, short ranged fixed weapons that it really just needs to be able to trundle around a corner and unload on some unsuspecting saps. Out in the open even the longer ranged loadouts would be only decent on something that weighs half as much.
I am personally not against even very extreme rules changes on principle, however it is my belief that catalyst:- don't actually have any good ideas about how to improve the game- are too scared to do anything more than tweak random shit that barely matters

>>97818820>>97818627Why did MW5C flop?
>>97818868It lacked polish. It's buggy, poorly optimized, the missions were fairly boring, bad AI, and so on. It's looks pretty, but that's about it. Like, why pay PGI for a mediocre campaign and a bunch of stuff you can just mod into Mercs?
>>97818852I'm not super familiar with Flashman, but Ace runs a good example of an ad hoc mercenary company, the only continuous member is himself and a very small handful of other characters later on in his career. Everyone else in Ace Darwin's Whipits come and go from mission to mission, they're all freelancers signing up one job at a time. He's definitely a protagonist type, but is bordering on being a joke character (literally pilots a Panther which is painted entirely pink). He a suitable character for getting thrust into wacky situations, but it would be very easy for them to take it too far and tip him right over into being an outright joke.
>>97818868I'm not sure it flopped but it didn't exactly soar. It didn't have the replayability of Mercenaries and the campaigns (including the DLC ones) were just average. Me and a few of my buds had a good time playing smokies (DO IT AGAIN UNCLE CORDY) but those of us who still play MW5 have just gone back to modded Mercenaries. There's even less reason to be interested as Clan mechs start to be backported to Mercenaries with the new DLCs.I've been playing with the new TTRulez version. I don't really miss Clans at all. Even features like unique pilot abilities are now in it (and honestly better as unique traits rather than weird progression) and the economy of the game is more engaging than dumping kerensky-bucks into the one mech you want to bother playing for the rest of the campaign.TL;DR: It was just okay in a space where it isn't enough to be just okay. It competes with its predecessor and loses on a lot of accounts. The only thing that is definitively better is that it has less of a non-plot and covers some interesting history.

>>97819534>There is pleasure in such a simple existence. This is why true WoB fans play Word of Blake Militia rather than the super special Manei Domini.
>>97819672Are there any new UC projects planned that actually use good animation like Unicorn? I think the last thing even close was Hathaway's Flash.
>>97819694Also, because the militia never betrayed the people of the WoB Protectorate or their homeworlds.
>>97819694Manei Domini and the Shadow Divisions are PEAK and KINGSHIT but, I guess there's a certain enjoyment to be found in embracing the struggles of the Frails now and then.
>>97819705>Also, because the militia never betrayed the people of the WoB Protectorate or their homeworlds. If the Master, Apollyon and Berith all found it acceptable to sacrifice the soldiers of the Militia and the people of the Protectorate to ensure the WoB's self-imposed exile was successful, who the fuck are you to criticise such a course of action?

>>97819534>>97819694Funny, I was just looking into using that instead of the Cronus after I looked at its sheet and realized the Cronus has the small cockpit for MD cyborgs.

>>97819780Here's my two guesses as to why people like troopers and seeing them do well1. It feels true to life, afterall, wunderwaffes are rare in our world and the majority of combat is not done by aces2. It leaves an opening for /yourdudes/ to come in and be semi-relevant, since people seem to be allergic(fairly) to making their dudes be major movers and shakers, or at least starting off that wayA solid, cheap combat platform that a relative everyman can get into and still do work with makes a setting feel more accessible to the average gamer, even if only subconsciously.3. Everyone loves underdogs, even when they're not really underdogsThese are my guesses anyways
>>97819729This is the second time I've seen this and heard that they're the patron saint of BTG or something. What's the deal with these guys?
>>97819957Run by fans that totally flipped the fucking tables even with scenarios engineered against them at the canon Battle of Odessa, Battle of Dieron and Battle of Terra, caused the infantry air attack rules and artillery scatter rules to get revised, and just killed a ton of Stoner animals for literally years. Then, survived and fucked off to deep space in the Fleet of Blake. They're the guys that told dev clan and dark age dicksucking fiat to suck it and died harder than anyone to delay for their brothers to live another day.
>>97819515Leo!
>>97819912Personally I like my dracs to be bleeding edge hot shit supermechs exterminating clanner fucks with their own shit, in order to steal, I mean salvage, even more clanner stuff with which to kill more clanner fucks.
>>97820048>tfw bought a Tallgeese III HG kit back in the day to make a Leo out of it.Ah, memories.
>>97819957They were doing canon event Jihad games at some con and all the randos who showed up wanted to be in the good guy coalition, so it was a hodge podge of brand new to intermediate level players with no coordination.Cincy showed up and took the WoB side and a lot of them know the rules better than the devs do, so they repeatedly tabled the opposition even with huge handicaps. At one point the devs had a dropship with several hundred thousand BV worth of reinforcements fly low over a deep canyon table so it got shot by some leftover infantry at the top and lawndarted. Took them a few hours of cross referencing the books before they agreed that that's what just happened. The next rules revision made it so infantry can't shoot at aerospace without dedicated AA equipment.
Speaking of Gundam, have anyone tried the new hex-based Gundam game? How's the size and stuffs? Both the map and models
>>97820102>at some conGencon, THE Battletech canon place since the 80's. Shit, I have the pins from the 87 Gencon when they announced the 4th Succession War.

Trying to surround the Atlas, Capellan forces risk being one-shotted
>>97819700Honestly, I like them both for different reasons. Hathaway has really atmospheric battle scenes like the Battle of Davao, but the way the mobile suits actually fight in Unicorn was definitely more brutal and fun to watch. It's still the gold standard in anime mech combat. I think IBO comes close, though. The animation budget isn't as high, but the fight choreography and sound design do some seriously heavy lifting.
