I really really hope they add a relics and warlord traits table to the factionwide rules on top of any extra enhancements from the detachments. Such a good mechanic from 8th and 9th that got destroyed with 10th.
Is it possible to run a majority melee only army in necrons? I don’t like the guns they have really.
>>97828262Hopefuly squatted and replaced with a proper tactical support squad.
>>97828325Yeah they have strong melee units. Lychguards are tough, Skorpeks are strong, Ophydians and Flayed Ones are teleporty and Wraiths are resilient and mobile. Not to mention the C'tan who are melee monsters.
>>97828322>warlord traits table>mechanic from 8th and 9thNigga that shits been around since 6th ed, as for relics their still here they're just called enhancements so so long as we get more with the new detachments at least we'll be eating well in that department.
>>97828339I know but if I mention wanting anything from before 8th I get retards coming from under rocks to bring It down. Point is I want shit that we could still do until 10th.>EnhancementsCan't really compare the perhaps single enhancement in a detachment with having a full list of warlord traits AND relics AND any extra from a subfaction that we had in 9th.
>>97828305>fish on wafflesI'm sorry, but who the fuck has fish on waffles, I though chicken and waffles was strange but I'm drawing the line at fish.
>>97828354>the perhaps single enhancement in a detachmentBut each detachment has multiple? And in terms of viability it was also normal for there to be the few good relics while there being many more mediocre, it's why bolt pistol relics are such a meme.
So 11th edition is confirmed 9th edition:2.0 aka 7th edition:3.0 and we have to wait for 12th edition for the next actual shot at the game not being shit
>>97828368First because you can put two enhancements on a single character while you could give a relic and a trait to your warlord. Second because having 3 to choose isn't the same as having 6 traits, 6 relics + your subfaction's specific ones. It just allowed for way more combos and made warlord choice a thing to consider. Third because while some detachments have most of their power coming from a single enhancement others have fuck all.
>>97828378the game won't see any particularly drastic changes until GW feels threatened numbers must go down before rules can be changed
I wonder how they will do the detachments.Would be cool if the faction had access to 2-3 baseline strategems no matter what and then the detachments gave you access to 3 more specialized/interesting strats each or something like that. Maybe that would help get around the problem of current detachments having tons of useless strats to some degree, even though 6 isn't that much.
>>97828378And yet 12th will be even worse because GW writers are incapable of fixing anything only doubling down on their bad decisions.
>>97828387I'm tired of stratagems. I don't want my army's playstyle to be defined by a stratagem.
>>97828394Sorry GW loves them
>>97828328Not what i meant but cool guys
>>97828067Gonna build it this weekend. Gonna be fun.
>>97828394I like the idea of having an extra resource to manage but the execution is far from perfect, access to good strats makes or breaks armies, unfortunetely.
>>97828168I'm glad that they gave me a free model 6 months ago to complete my blood claw pack.
>>97828328are these sons of horus or True Sons?
>>97828067decided to do a diorama piece and now I just got to prime it.
>>97828389At this point I just want the 40k writers to blatantly copy the new 30k rules. They even do stratagems better.
>>97828002Honestly just the heads. Most people are probably going to magnetize the weapon options on them.
>>97828382You still have to remember that a lot of the things your asking for are the same but with a different coat of paint, sub-factions and detachments work similarly these days, but characters aren't locked to a detachment so you have more flexibility, I've already spoken about how relics and enhancements are very similar, and the fact that you can double up on enhancements is similar to a relic + warlord combo.I'm not saying subfaction rules and warlord traits are a bad thing and should come back, I'm just saying don't be blind to the systems that are here and filling a similar role.
>>97828088And throughout all of that you've further promoted Games Workshop products. Your end is considered marketing for them.
>>97828422I actually don't mind stratagems too much in either system, they add a nice extra layer to the game, so I never understand why people got so rabid just from the concept of the system.I think GW is making a smart move making them not stack though, even though that was were you could run some fun combos in 8th and 9th.
>>97828437If I can make it work the tradeoff for free shit is worth it. Plus I hate myself and want to work 100 hour weeks, but the current economy makes it hard.
>>97828325Gauss is THE necron thing. How can you have any interest in necrons but not like the iconic necron thing.

>>97828418Kino
>>97828433>and the fact that you can double up on enhancements is similar to a relic + warlord comboBut you can't double up and even if you could most enhancements don't really align like traits and relics did.
>>97828447Mostly because I find it a pain in the ass to keep track of an abstracted currency that is so powerul in detriment of the actual units and their wargear.>>97828494Not really cause primaris organization is such a mess.
>>97828494Intermediate period
>>97828494>>97828505I imagine this is what GW has in their heads for what your army should look like
>>97828501>First because you can put two enhancements on a single characterI don't know why you mentioned this then, when you said that I thought I had been playing wrong this whole time, but I'm glad I never cheated by putting two enhancements on one character.
>>97828510I mean, it is kind of the most aesthetic thing to see on the table. Big dioramas always have like 80% battleline soldiers. But that's just not the reality of how people collect things. People want to have a variety of stuff to paint and play with so a lot of collections end up more "one of everything" kind of deals.
>>97828503>Mostly because I find it a pain in the ass to keep track of an abstracted currencyNo offence, but having some dice or tokens set aside to keep track of your cp isn't a hard concept to grasp. As for the rules side, I can understand the minor skill curve of knowing when to spend and to hold cp for different stratagems and trying to bait your opponent out to do the same, but that's just learning the game so I can understand the frustration but it is a part of the strategy side.
>>97828511I mentioned it because you could give the your warlord a trait and a relic and enhancements don't let you do that.
>>97828529I use a dice, I mean how to manage them during the game. It's not a mechanic I enjoy and I don't like GW forcing it into every single game after AoS.
>>97828537Oh ok, yeah I think warlord traits would be cool if they came back, but enhancements are just another name for relics so I don't think we need a double up on those.
So are warlords not a think anymore, looking at these new muster rules?
pros: big and cool terrain piecescons: literally costs more than buying gw terrain, like I can get Killzone Volkus for 117 bucks why the fuck would I pay 304 bucks for your 3d printed shit?A lot of terrain sellers on ebay are like this- know your audience guys, the customer base for 3d printed terrain wants prices that are significantly cheaper than the GW stuff cmon.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>97828540Yeah I can understand the sentiment, personally I've come to enjoy more balancing act of when to spend defensive and offensive starts. My friends and I have occasionally play a house rule where instead of in each command phase we front load the CP generation so that we get all CP at the start of each game round, it leads to a lot more mind games on whether to to go all in on plays while others use it to whether the storm defensive strats, it's definitely got its own balancing issues but it's a fun change in pace.
>>97828554apparently nar, they've lost their importance anyway, vestigial warlord
>>97828541The current enhancements can stay, I'd just like a table for warlord traits and generic relics for each faction next to the faction rules. So for marines for example you'd have a double spread with oath in one side and the traits and relics on the other side. Then detachments give you extra enhancements specific for that detachment's playstyle.
>>97828554Not like they did anything in 10th.
>>97828562I'd rather scour the internet for months to find a free STL that I can print ad nauseaum

>>97828418Do you like orks :D?
>>97828562>(((ebay sellers)))
>>97828570That would be cool, but you know if that monkeys paw curls it'll be another balance nightmare considering the current rules writers and balance team GW has for 40k.I can't wait to see the combos people are going to be pulling off when multiple detachments are in play.
>>97828568They're kind of important from a narrative perspective though, right? Like, every army needs a leader and a chain of command.
since the apotecary's armour is white, I can save time and money by using interchangeable shoulderpads. Sometimes he can be an Imperial fister, sometimes a salamander.
>>97828594Yeah but that can just be external fluff, no need to have the eternal annoying "YOU MUST DESIGNATE A WARLORD EVEN THOUGH IT DOES NOTHING!!!" notification on list building sites/apps
>>97828604Now you're thinking with magnets
>>97828562It really depends on what you want. That's a whole lot of time and material there.I got a set of DoW Space marine terrain for less than 100 dollaridoos.
>>97828524>But that's just not the reality of how people collect things. People want to have a variety of stuff to paint and play with so a lot of collections end up more "one of everything" kind of deals.I would disagree at least in my own experience. For example I own 200 plague marines from just about all the editions and 300+ guardsmen (various regiments). Basically buying the new versions as they release.I have a friend who also owns over 100 intercessors and what he did was just buy a bunch of starters on the cheap.
>>97828615Cheezus anon, that's a lot of chaff.
>>97828615What's your personal favorite run of the plague marines? They all have such good character.
>>97828584I like orks :Ddo you like orks :D ?
>>97828524>But that's just not the reality of how people collect thingsHaving a big number of regular troops is always the coolest thing in collecting a massive army. I have easily 250 traitor guard soldiers and in addition at least 100 of the dark vengeance cultists. And I happily add more to their numbers, because I like troops. I like tanks too, but I rather paint 10 troopers than 1 tank

>>97828562If there is no customer base for that stuff, they would sell it for less, or don't sell it at all (protocol: you can buy the same stl files printed on temu for way less, with the downside of more visible layerlines).Printing massive terrain like this is neither fast nor cheap (and failures can happen, so they have to calculate it in as well). Also, it's just random dudes selling their stuff. You as the customer can always choose cheaper options.Lastly, kill zone volkus is cool, and I think it's one of GWs better recent terrain sets, but it's not really comparable in its subject.

>>97829163They won't. Everyone hated PL, they made it the only option and rebranded, and that was that. Went from literally millions of unique configurations for units like Crisis and Carnifexes to like, four.
Yet another "cope rule" that only exists because 40k uses a dogshit IGOUGO activation system
>>97829348>It'll probably end up horrifically imbalanced once the hyper-optimizer meta monsters get their hands on itI bet the winrates will vary by 5% at most but the game will continue to be boring dogshit
>>97829165With the product cycle the way it is, it makes sense. It's the time it takes to launch the edition, then get every faction a codex (RIP Harlequins), then a few campaign supplements. Then fire up the hype machine again. The plastic must flow.
>>97829306You'd just be changing those issues with the issues alt activations have. I'd rather keep playing 40k.

You can either move and activate your one Knight or Primarch or your giant deathstar or a bunch of MSU units, then your opponent does the same until there are no activations left, then end the turn. >>9782948810e has myriad other problems that are sourced from the bad activation system. I had plenty of issues with older editions as well. 40k has always needed an alternating activation system, ex-designers have openly said this. I was thinking about that Deathwatch battalion they teased for Ormageddon and was looking at the two carnifex sprues I have left over after building two carnies. The thing is that the carnie sprues have a lot of leftover bits, like heads and stuff, so I was thinkin for the Corvus Blackstar I would pile up the heads like a mountain of dead carnifexes and mounth the blackstar on top of it like it's doing a flyby. My other idea would have been like getting the the red terror kill team and setting it up so the blackstar is making a drive by with missiles but that feels like it might be a pain to set up so I can take it apart when I need the tyranid model for tyranids/GSC.But now that I think of it stince it's orks maybe I should get some ork terrain pieces and do that instead.... or make two bases....

>>97829596Eldar codex getting kind of cramped, exodites being their own army appeals to me simply because clowns are eldar with funny masks and corsairs are dark eldar who dn't skin people alive for fun, but exodites have a whole unique roster of knights and dinosaurs that would look odd if you had them in codex craftworlds so you could take a bunch of dinos iwth your elfdurr. Would make more sense taking eldar as allies, like biel tan sending warriors to help the dragon knights fight off the chaos knights (chaos knights and imperial knights hate dragon knights and kaiju battle them). Also an important distinction from ynnari, corsairs and harlequins is that exodites would not have the drukhari friendly rules since they canonically hate the dark eldar, who enjoy kidnapping and torturing their happy souls for extra soul juice.

>>97830136When creating a chapter, the zygote is implanted in a human test-slave who spends his entire life in a static experimental capsule, immobile and serving as nothing but a medium which from two progenoids will develop. When the progenoids are developed, they are extracted from the original test-slave and then implanted into another two test-slaves, producing four progenoids, and so on. It takes 55 years of reproduction to create a healthy set of 1,000 organs. These must be sanctioned officially by the Master of the Adeptus Mechanicus and then by the High Lords of Terra, speaking for the Emperor, who alone can give permission for the creation of a new Chapter.

Like how Helbrecht and the old techmarine/iron hands have/had servitors, or how the new Titus ultrumarines have some macraggian militia regiment. Or like how admech was just a techpriest in the guard in lder editions.Basically it's possible to proxy or kind of be like vox machinator and daemon engine spam with cultists, or traitor guard spam but using the guard codex so you can also use leman russ, but it's not a complete or ful army. Turning Techpriest Enginseer into Cult Mechanicus is the idea. Or taking Fellgors and Traitor Guard and Traitor Enforcer and Leman Russ and making a tank that has legs, or a really fucked up giant mutant, or some Blood Pact- you can tak units which are barebones and exist to merely -represent- that those forces exist and turn them into full armies. Also dark mechanicus is pretty strongly implied to have chaos androids and men of iron/Abominable Intelligence since that's usually what is considered to be ultra heretical by martian priests.

So when a Marine dies the Chapter recovering the geneseed means that they don't have to wait until they generate another to replace the loss. Dorn boarded the vessel with his warriors but for some reason he was never found. Only thing the Imperial Fists managed to recover was 1 of Dorn's hands. We don't know at all happened to Dorn, only thing we can be sure of is that Dorn definetly die on the Chaos ship, since if he did die there then Chaos would've been parading his corpse around for a millenia.
