>>97838112I lost a game earlier with randos to a mono white artifact & equipment heavy deck where his commander was swinging for 16 on turn 3. Neither of the other 2 players (white/black and green/black) played any artifact, enchantment or creature removal. And I mulliganed down to 4 so I was fucked from the start but only had a single counter spell. I had damnation in my opening hand and other removal. And this was bracket 4So yeah Voltron can work great when people run zero interaction. I do think it’s a good way to win though you just need a lot of shit to protect the voltron…NORMALLY. (Even people aren’t being retards)
>>97838254Drop a colour or two, play Thrun, Yenna, Hogaak
>>97838021I wish I had a deck for her. Paying life is an underutilized mechanic, historically speaking.
Hey if that other anon is still here from the previous thread I was wondering who between BL & R-on made the most realistic white bordered cards like FWB duals and English unlimited, and maybe a few black bordered English things from more recent Masters sets. Not foils at all and mostly what would have been plausibly bought 10-15 years ago (to clarify it’s not for reselling or scamming but so I don’t get interrogated at games with a no proxy rule)
>>97838413Because in a rare bout of sanity WotC quickly learned paying life is a fake cost and it's doubly so in a format where people have twice as much starting life.
>>97838413Oh this intrigues me. My secondary deck, which is like a B2/B3 is a white/black tribal Knights with squall, seed mercenary as the commander. And it works really well and I use some other legendary black/white cards with it, but I know I don’t have a totally comprehensive list like for example this one’s new to me.I recently modified it to make use of the multiples of Nazgûl mechanic and it’s cool. But I’d like a blue white black Esper knight commander to integrate horsemanship but I don’t want to use the Esper commander either eminence that is from a recent pre-con
>>97838282These are your best ones yet, lad.
>>97838021Bullied the Vivi player because the table agreed to give back my artifacts with Pia's revolution and I kept crashing Vivi into their blockers lmao
>>97838422Can't argue with that. Still fun though. I especially like it in Vona's case because she's set up to let you send her into combat, gain life, then tap her to smite something post-combat. Simple but elegant design.

>>97838873your poor
>>97838897Nigga it's Voltron that's a bracket 2 commander
>>97838897>cast one of the same 5 auras>to fetch one of the same 3 auras>win gameWow so incredibly based you did it i love tutors they keep the game so fresh and interesting. Not to beat around the bush but unless you build it intentionally loaded with shit or weird auras, it's gonna be the same stuff every single game.
>>97838902Not that guy, but have you never seen a light paws deck? She's an absolute asshole who follows a brain dead flowchart like >>97838907 points out. What's even more disgusting is that she can make herself immune to everything (Spectra Ward + Unquestionable Authority) AND still attach more auras. And that's if she didn't beat you to death on turn 3 due to the stupid double life gain and "you get +1/+1 for life gained" nonsense.
>>97838902I'll let my opponents know my deck is b2 despite the farewell
>>97838919It doesn't matter what it is, and what the deck does, he just will say every voltron deck is completely trash and bracket 1, 2 at best. He does it every time.
>>97838902bracket 2 turn 4 swing 20/20 double strike protection from all colors and creatures
>>97838919It's an aura voltron commander that needs multiple turns of setup to actually be lethal and dies to any edict no matter how well it protects itself. No doubt a strong casual option and pretty consistent, but if it gets hindered at all in its gameplan it basically auto-loses because can't recover as well as equip-based voltrons.
>>97838928>I always have it
Bracket 2 doesn't mean random piles or 2017 precons, it means you can WIN (not take out one guy, win the entire game) by turn 8 and even a bit earlier on occasion when you get lucky. Most "bracket 3" tables go for far longer than that, but that's because most people are bad players and even worse deck builders, or they play decks that are deliberately slow.Easy, aggressive flowchart decks like Light-Paws seem stronger than they are because they actually perform to the specs of their bracket without having to think too hard, but the reality is that it's not actually a very strong commander in Bracket 3 and a complete joke beyond that.
turn 1 ?turn 2 light pawsturn 3 ?turn 4 kill somebodyturn 5 kill somebodyturn 6 kill somebody winlightpaws is definitionally the gold standard of bracket 3
>>97838967I mean yeah if the entire table runs zero interaction and doesn't target you and you also have a great starting hand on top of that, but that should be the exception, not the rule. Most half-playable bracket 2 decks could win by turn 6 if their table was made up of training dummies that just let them execute their gameplan with literally zero interference, but because that's not the reality of playing the game it almost never actually happens that way.
>>97838959>It wins, and it can win fast, and its optimized>Its bad thoughOkay.
>>97838993if your deck can win by turn 6 it's not bracket 2
>>97838994It typically wins at the speed that a decent bracket 2 deck should win, yeah.
Rog/Si isn't that good because if your opponents have interaction for Ad Naus on turn 1 (which they always will), you don't win.
>>97838997No, the bracket system states that you should be able to typically expect games to last X turns, which includes your opponents taking actions on their own turns instead of just letting you win without playing anything at all themselves.Any grug-brained green bracket 2 deck would win by turn 6 if their opponents just passed every turn without playing anything or ever interacting, but because that's not how the game works, those matches almost always last much longer.
>>97839007Correct tardo, absolutely bracket 2.
>when a tribal card seems really good and fun but the rest of the tribal cards dont hold upsadge
>>97838967You can usually kill even faster than that if you're running Aetherflux Reservoir.
>>97838994Speed, complexity, and inflection points for interaction are different things. Light paws is bad, but it is a linear easy deck with a wincon, which is much better than a deck without a wincon, but lesser than a faster deck or a more difficult to disrupt deck with more easily defended inflection points, which are usually more complex.
>>97838967If you have a superstate you can just kill all 3 on turn 4.
>>97839007Bit of a difference between aura voltron (lol) and a cedh turbo deck.If 3 players combined have zero ways of interacting with an aura voltron commander in any way in like half a dozen turns then their decks are barely even bracket 2.
>>97839032Explain the play line you're hallucinating here
>at LGS today>mfw I learn Annihilator can be copied by Roaming Throne>mfw I'm on the receiving end of this bullshit
>>97839032>ramping to 7 mana on turn 4>in monowhite
Heirloom Blade in Edgar is a flex.
>White have no ways to stop interaction.Hmm.>>97839041>There are no ways to cheat out auras in white
>>97839049>>White have no ways to stop interaction. If the Light-Paws player dedicates mana to protecting their commander instead of exclusively casting offensive auras every turn then they're also not actually killing people that early. So again, it's all fine.
>>97839049Anon, are you seriously arguing about the power of a voltron deck? If you are below that power level, your opinions on the subject have no merit.
>>97839049Okay so like what's the order of events you are imagining where super state comes out on turn 4 and oneshots the table?Tell us which cards are being played to make that happen.
>>97839054>You can't play auras and hold up a single mana for white's buffet of single drop protection spells.>>97839057That's not an argument. You can't say "deck is bad because removal by good players" and expecting the white player to have no interaction of their own. I get that you want to believe all voltron decks are bad because you lost to one once and are still super salty about it, but you need to stop being a retard.
>>97839032The splash damage from super state doesn't count as commander damage sadly.
>>97839084>>You can't play auras and hold up a single mana for white's buffet of single drop protection spellsYou're talking about LP killing people by turn 4, let me know how that's happening if you're holding up any mana for protection? Retarded ass faggot.
>>97839084I can say whatever I want, and it is an argument. It's a linear telegraphed deck. Even the most pimped out light paws deck on bleeding edge technology would be stomped consistently by old off meta decks, and the average player should be able to deal with it at maximum power level after fairly minor deck revisions, at most. If you cannot, you are below that threshold, and are either really new or really bad, which means your opinion on the subject should be taken from the point of view of someone who struggles to deal with voltron decks, and likely has limited or extremely convoluted and ineffective wincons/interaction.
Lightpaws would rape by regular pod. Everyone's deck "is a 4" but all the tutors, rhystics, sphinx's and necropotences in the world won't help you when you will never draw into an answer. Its been two years, and they still haven't caught on that the reason I win more than them is because I have more than a single boardwipe for removal in my decks. Lightpaws looks really, really boring though.I've been beating them with a Vivi voltron deck for fuck sake.
>>97839041Smothering Tithe bozoYOU'RE DONE
>>97838959the problem is a bracket 3 deck is barely stronger than a bracket 2 deck, if at all
>>97839107Slightly different, if you dont try to win the game, you should have no expectation to win the game, and lightpaws or voltron as a whole is like the minimum attempt at winning the game.
>>97839107>I'm beating them with one of the most broken cards magic has printed in the past 5 years even playing it massively unoptimized Wow anon, so impressive, wow
>>97839116Not really, bracket 3 decks can actually be very significantly more powerful than bracket 2 decks, given that they're even allowed to win with 2-card infinites from turn 6 onwards.Bracket 3 is actually a pretty powerful format, retards at many stores just build bracket 2 decks with game changers and think that's the ceiling of the bracket.
>>97839130Its not impressive, or meant to be impressive, the point is that its fucking sad.
>>97839131They're practically identical in terms of power level from a pragmatic standpoint. And no, bracket 3 isnt "a pretty powerful format". It's an eternal format, at the power level of an eternal format. Like bracket 2.
>>97839131>can beThe vast majority of them are "bracket 2 deck where I put in some game changers"
>>97839151Bracket 2 doesn't have 2-card infinites and its decks shouldn't be built to consistently win before turn 8, that's a significant powerlevel downgrade from bracket 3's limitations. If you also factor in the stated intent of the brackets then a bracket 2 deck would be even weaker, bracket 3 decks are allowed to be almost completely optimized minus less than a handful of suboptimal includes, while bracket 2 decks are supposed to be significantly unoptimized even within the limitations of its bracket.
>>97839158Yeah that's my point, most "bracket 3" players should really just cut the GCs and move down because their shitty piles would get stomped by real bracket 3 decks and then they're gonna be mad.
Yeah I blatantly pub stomp, what are you going to do about it?
>>97839197I never actually see pub stomping happens.
>>97839168Oh, it's this guy again. That's all nice and everything, but "intent" doesnt factor into power level, and lots of combos with more moving pieces are actually much more effective in practice, but harder to pilot compared to an AB combo deck with maybe 2 or 3 wincons and some form of streamlining. Also, not even cedh decks are optimized, they're usually designed by a crowd where basically no one is an expert or a professional at the deck, because it isnt required considering the variance in the format.
>ENTERS your bracket 3Problem, Gavin?
we need to somehow create an AI that's 1000% capable of optimizing decks for a given bracket and give definitive lists
Sometimes I talk to ChatGPT about my lists and it's VERY supportive.
I provide commander decklist to ai then proceed to play with it.

>>97839625Depends. WPN stores can't let proxies through officially. Some players don't care, some do and just won't play with you (because it's important that you spent a couple grand on cardboard). If you're really concerned get some chinese counterfeits. I've been playing at WPN stores with those and no one bats an eye at them.>>97839937That website won't. Get something from USEA or the other counterfeiters. More expensive unless you join a group buy for 1k+ cards, but I've never had a problem after sleeving them. Looking at the backs of any of these or the sides (you can see the separation on 99% of these regardless of seller) will easily show they are fake. Fronts are usually fine especially while sleeved.
