I've been toying with the idea of a group of Elves that, following a cataclysm, had most of their adults and elders wiped out, leaving behind a population of youths and children. I was thinking this, combined with other dangers and casualties, could lead to this wayward group to go 'Feral' lacking the guidance and teachings of an actually educated parental figure. The only thing I'm really struggling to wrap my head around is the naturally long lifespan of an Elf, and how that could contribute or challenge a falling into a Lord of The Flies sort of situation.
