I feel like I'm going a bit crazy trying to come up with fun deck ideas. I play a variety of bracket 2-4 games, mostly somewhat optimized 2s.If i go for aggressive decks they become linear and samey. If I go for value engines they have trigger bloat and take forever to resolve. Same thing with storm or spellslinger decks. I've had mono G Goreclaw decks even have this problem. If I go for stax or control people will become salty. It feels like no matter what I try someone will take issue with a deck play style.

First they limited tutors (like demonic tutor, enlightened tutor, mystical tutor) but really never meant that to include the most basic tutors of all: "search your library for a basic land and put it into play tapped", which is literally thousands of green cards, and almost exclusively green cards (only white gets anything like it for catching up, and red's very few have some fuckery involved to keep them all on the battlefield). almost all the nerf's of various brackets, "game changers" and all that, harm all colors except green by sizable portion. even something like Dockside extortionist which, yeah a wild card was one of the best ways for red or Grixis or Izzet to really get some incredible ramp. that gets banned but theres nothing tampering down all the one-sided green ramp. so especially in lower brackets almost everyone has a splash of green just for this. then not being able to answer with either more powerful cards in other colors that help ramp (like smothering tithe for white, demonic tutor to find sol ring t2) ends up really dulling the "global meta" for more casual games. then tack on you're not even supposed to do the built-in mechanic since 1994 (acid rain is from legends) of blowing up those forests yet theres no other land tutor/ramping that is really very useful except for white's handful of cards, like Land Tax. Lander tokens could have been much more useful. in bracket 4 or higher this is not a thing, and people play green much less but if you are wanting a more "mellow" style in b2 or b3 you almost have to choose a green-splashed commander to keep up because the geniuses in the "commander committee" have done their best job at propping up green as the beginner friendly color. now the latest set has a double Harrow yet...nothing for the other colors even a "power crept" Solemn simulacrum for this decade. example 9000 of them being completely tone deaf.

Pretty much the only thing it did right was the concept of mana but even there it bungled execution with lands where for all the cope you can spout about them adding their own layer of depth, introduces so much frustration no other game made after 2000 sought to emulate them.

Which is understandable, given that it was basically the first major tcg, but they never once rebooted it or let it die and made a new game with better card design so we're now stuck with a bloated tcg that's 20+ years out of date because too many nerds are sunk cost into this game and refuse to let something new with better card design rise up. Surveyor's Scope is one I'd like to try that I haven't yet but really it's more akin to Land Tax than green ramp in my opinion but if it works it seems like it would work REALLY well.
