How would you expand the range if you were a gw exec?
>>97874094>TQIdk, maybe the actual elite shit of the army. It’d be neat if they got a command squad or something. It’d also be funny if they got more “vassals”. Unrelated but the bulltaurs seem to be neat for making Minotaurs, just need appropriate legs really. (Pic rel is not mine)
id start by giving them their warcry band back.
>>97874094>TQbring back k'daai fire demons. Those were great designs and a lot could be done with them. Wolf riders could also be cool, along with bull centaur heroes.
>>97874094I am still amazed at how they could produce an inferior aesthetic to Forgeworld's. All they had to do was take it and add some things like unhelmeted soldiers. The bull centaurs are just so much better than the plastic ones.
>>97874110>It’d be neat if they got a command squad or somethingThis sort of came up when we were discussing the cos volley guns a couple threads back, but old chaos dwarfs used to have a bunch of different war machines like little mortars and swivel guns, as well as the classic bazooka. I think something like the kharadron thunderers would be cool for chorfs, were it's just a group of 5 or 6 guys with very different heavy guns / light artillery. If not, at least make bazookas a full unit.
>>97874125>The bull centaurs are just so much better than the plastic ones.Really? The fw bull centaurs? These pieces of shit?
>>97874146Pure unfiltered goodness.
Give me an idea of the kind of cash commitment I'd need for a good nighthaunt casual armyThey're probably my favourite faction for aesthetics
>>97874148To each their own I suppose>>97874171I've seen some pretty good deals on ebay, because they were in soul wars and 2nd edition was like peak omboarding edition. If you buy msrp they're like a medium to above average expensive army I think? But yeah definitely check out the secondhand market.
They're so cool
How much will the new spearhead cost give or take
>>97874269I assume you mean the cos/skaven one? Currently the spearhead starter set is the reboxed ultimate starter set, which is €170/$220, so something like that.
>>97874094>How would you expand the range if you were a gw exec?Upgrade sprue with hats, spikes and eight-pointed stars. The bodies are ok, but they are missing everything that made chaos dwarfs cool.
>>97874094>TQ>If I were a GW ExecSoup Fyreslayers into them
>>97874094LammasuTrain with 3 options (skullcraker prow, dreadquake mortar in tow, or wagons to carry troops and barrels of demon oil)Bull centaur heroA more petrified wizard/priest on mechanical chairSpells that represent raw and barely chained demonstuffScenery that represents a ziggurat crossed with an oil drilling and refining stationArmored gargantScamming merchant special character
>>97874146The new Chorfs are made to appeal the chinese taste, take it as you like.
Since it's been confirmed that they're coming in 5th, will you be buying Kurnothi?
>>97874448Yeah, they'll soup real well with Idoneth on the soul hunt
>>97874339It is kind of funny how we have fire dwarfs, tech dwarfs, and now fire tech dwarfs>>97874342bull centaur character would be my first choice as wellspeaking of, do they have options for one in their anvil of apotheosis thingy?
>>97874146There's no difference beyond the weapons, just use the bare heads with the naked torso
>>97874448nah, I'm all Chaos all the way now.
>>97874448>I want to play vintage wood elves>but I don't want to play vintage wood elves with vintage wood elf models or vintage wood elves rules>and I don't want to play vintage wood elves models with AoS rules>I specifically want to play vintage wood elves in Sylvaneth>but I don't want to play with Sylvaneth models or Sylvaneth rules>I want a new army that looks and plays like vintage wood elves without looking like or playing like themKurnothiposters have always been a curious breed. The few druchii anons are the same. Bunch of weirdos.
>>97874612Tbf wood elves have always had a polarizing ruleset that was always npe for one side or the other so an Aos take on it could be neat. Not to say sylvaneth have been historically better but at least they’re playing the same game as most other factions were since their inception, which is better than wood elves.
Give me a spearhead gwI'm not going to buy your wolves
>>97874612>Just play with Scarloc, random 80s D&D minis, and Orion! Wanderers don't even have any rules for 4th.
>>97874669Ngl the only wood elf models I’ve liked were the wild riders and the quest dude.
>>97874670Just kitbash beastmen and wild riders, then play them as CoS Free Guild bro
>>97874448I like the deer models.
>>97874677The old marauder horsemen horses were better for that. Really wish I bought them when I had a chance.
>>97874448I do hope we get to see spite swarms and some rhino bug knights but beyond that I think the core idea of the first layer of sylvaenth are figured out. I’d only really want kurothi because it opens the way for rootkings in there.
>>97874689>it opens the way for rootkings in thereno, it doesn't, they're not a thing and they'll never be a thing
>>97874146>these pieces of shit
>>97874705You’re feisty anon.
>>97874670I like araloth too, our "nomad prince"But yeah wood elves always had the biggest discrepancy between how much I like their art and how much I like their models
OK what does Tzeentch need? Assuming they aren't refreshing the current plastic Daemon kitsI'd like to seePlastic Blue ScribesCenterpiece mortal heroHeavy infantryGreater Chaos Spawnwaddyall think?
>>97874766You kinda nailed it, yeah. Dunno about a whole center piece, but just a prominent human would be nice to follow.
>>97874766Heavy infantry Monstrous infantry Heavy cavalry Light cavalry
>>97874766Pretty much, some warrior/chosen/knight equivalent would go a long way imo. And yeah chaos spawn refresh. Also why thr fuck isn't the vortex beast tzeentchian again can somebody explain that?
>>97874727I'm correct
Why did maggokin get such a massive refresh when they already mogged both BoK, HoS, and DoT?
>>97874766>needmortal warriors / forsaken dual kit updated pink horrors kit (blues can stay)gobbapalooza, but it's kairic heroes, all with robes and hoods of some kind access to the sphiranx, mutalith, furies and raptoryx>would be the shitmultipart gaunt summoner kit with bits for all 9, a plethora of familiars plus a small herald that can go on disc or on foot depending on whether you put the summoner you assemble on foot or on disc a named demon prince character sculpted after the artwork with the guy with a hand for a headmortal warriors cavalry, but it's actually them with centaur bodies as they ride the spawn-like mutant lower halves
>>97874958because tzeentch already featured in a warhammer quest box, slaanesh cannot feature in one, khorne has a release planned around khul and the reinvention of aos, and nurgle sells and gw needs the moneyreplacing the end times blightkings with the new ones was one of the most despicable and spiteful decision taken by gw became they did so to push nurgle collectors to rebuild their armies around rotswords instead, the new blightkings are shit on purpose
>>97874958somebody post the pipeline meme feeding into fat nurgle with starving tzeentch
>>97874999
>>97875005lel thanks always makes me chuckle
>>97874448do you think the deer centaur women have grippy pussy? like do that shit be MILKING you?
>>97875135None of these words are in the great plan
>>97875137its in my "great plan" to get that deer pussy
>>97875135get your t-levels checked, I'm deadly serious.
>>97874094>Now that the dust has finally settled, what is your final opinion on the Helsmiths?Hate them. I feel betrayed for being so hyped for chorfs for years and years. Only good models out of them are the hobgrots and bull centaurs.>How would you expand the range if you were a gw exec?Fireglaives. Hobgrot boss. A war machine that doesn't look like a complete joke. And bring back the Horns of Hashut; where the fuck are they?>>97874146Fucking hated these buttheads. They looked more like a beastmen unit than something for chorfs. Thank god the plastic ones have actual clothes like the metal ones did.
>>97875367The horns of hashut not being there is so weird. They'd bring some extra choice to the army, and their fluff fits perfectly with the role of chaff in the army with how their desolation points or whatever they're called work. Their aesthetic is slightly different, but the same can be said of literally any other chaos warband. Such an odd decision.
>>97875393if the horns of hashut were available gw would sell fewer hobgrots
>>97875426Hobgrots are laughably cheap thanks to dominion anyways
>>97874448Only if they have Wardancers.
>>97874146NTA but uh…yeah? Do you prefer the Asian MOBA aesthetic over this? Really?
>>97875718The forgeworld chorf range is the more korean mmo of the two in terms of design honestly
>>97875760Anon, you might be on substances like copium. Perhaps seethium even.
Maybe GW should make Korean mmo dwarves for the khazalid holds.
>>97875796Meh, look at those axes, or that beard. Definitely raid boss material.
>>97875812>Harley Quinn if she was 4'3
>>97875812I really don't think dwarf females look like lolis. They probably are as wide as an oak wardrobe.
>>97875861They look like lolis in the east, which saddens me immensely because the east does not produce shortstack content as a result, only loli and oppai loli
>>97875861Warhammer's dwarf women aren't what you describe either.
>>97875890Ok, now post a human woman for a comparison from the same game, prefferably next to each other.
>>97875890Where is her beard
>>97875935warhammer dwarfs dont have beards.
>>97875929How about an elven woman?>>97875935Dwarf women in warhammer never had beards.
>>97874146I feel like I'm in opposite land reading these replies because I remember them always being hated for looking too unfittingly savage and naked
>>97875954Those previous replies were contrarian shitposters. Everyone fucking hated these, you're remembering correctly
>>97875954>>97875966>tastelets
>>97875954Ah, but they're in TWW now, so they're retroactively BASED and KINO! You know, in the opinions of people like >>97875975 and >>97874711 who have never even considered purchasing a mini but have strong opinions on all of them.
>>97875996The victim complex on you guys is deeply amusing.
>>97876007Thanks for admitting that analysis was over target, fella.
>>97876007Yeah, almost as much as the retardation of people that come here only to shitpost despite never engaging with the hobby
>>97875946Assuming elves have similiar physique, that dwarf lady still looks more massive than she-elf. Thicker bones and different proportions. Not loli.
>>97875996You're such a faggot.
>>97876014Blind GW shills? Yeah, they're obnoxious.
>>97874342I'm shocked there hasn't been an Ea Nassir character for the Chaos Dwarfs made yet. Some overlord who notoriously sells sub-par building materials.
Do people forget we also got dwarf women in the Age of Reckoning MMO?
I hate Pallid Wych Flesh almost as much as it hates me. Chalky paint.
>>97876115Those were considerably chunkier.
>>97876115>>97876128I forgot that game existed. I just checked out the pserver and there's almost 1000 people online right now. Nice to see it isn't dead.
Definitely gotten slimmer and cuter over the years.
>>97876128As they should be according to Dwarf customs
>>97876148Ah yes, the dwarf lore book where they're polyandrous, marry obese chicks, not finding a wife is the #1 reason for joining the slayers, and how dwarf women go barren after two births but only 1 in 3 births are girls. What the fuck was GW on?
>>97876115I try not to think about mmos.
>>97876146the ones in aos are still pretty broad, what few times they actually show up.
What do my fellow Skaven players use for their Gnawholes? The official models? I want to upgrade from paper templates, but I don't want to have to be really careful with some flimsy detailed terrain.
>>97876116I’ve been slowly moving away from GW paints save for unique colors and contrasts/Lahmian medium. Gw needs a reformulation because their paints are starting to show flaws. Like why the fuck am I opening a fresh pot of Tau Light Ochre or Corax White and finding it in gummy chunks? That’s also not counting unannounced reformulations or just general disparities between batches. For example I saw this posted the other day. I had it happen to my Skeleton Horde contrast that I was using from the initial launch. The new formulation visibly separates in the pot within hours of standing still which requires a good shake to reconstitute, whereas my launch pot almost never separated. Also the shade was lighter so I had to add a couple drops of a brown to make it similar.
>>97875954That's back when they were actually being sold and nobody bought them. Now there's New stuff (=bad), so these guys became Old (=good).
>>97876211They're a solid 3rd out of all bull centaur renditions, with the original metal sculpts as #1, BloodBowl as #2, then the FW sculpts, and the ones at #4.the funny thing is, the new bull centaurs are the best sculpts of the HoH range by a wide margin and are pretty good themselves, but the nuance of them being not as good as other sculpts is apparently lost to people
>>97876223Surprised to see the bloodbowl version over the nuchorf one, it's basically the same thing except slightly more cartoony because of bloodbowl's style. The original bull centaurs are fine but honestly seeing fabelzel's stuff the gw ones kinda lost their shine. But maybe that's a bit unfair, fabelzel's style is hard to match. Not even much of an oldhammer guy but his shit is making me seriously consider starting a little chorf project to dip into tow.Anyway, I feel like old and new bull centaurs are so different in execution it basically comes down to personal preference, but both of them are a much better portrayal of bull centaurs' lore than the naked forgeworld retards.
>>97876276It's mostly the felt loss of Assyrian influence and how they're not as open to fun color schemes.
>>97876285The new ones or the forgeworld ones you mean?
>>97876173Soulbound art isn't canon or even related to AoS at all
>>97876316And that's a tragedy. The Cogfort models don't even begin to compare to this steampunk beauty.
>>97876223>ranks them in release orderlmaoliterally confirming the "old=good" post
>>97876315More the new ones, but that was also a big point of contention with the FW ones.Honestly the reason they rank higher for me is that as generic chaos dwarves they look more the part.
>>97876223You people genuinely have the shittiest takes imaginable. Genuinely hope this is performative bait
>>97876324They're not in release order.
>>97876276Fabezels chorfs dab on HoH and the forgeworld chorfs imo. They are gorgeous sculpts. They showcase genuine artistic flair that has been sorely missing from GW sculpts for the past decade plus (generally speaking)
>>97876330Mhm, interesting, what would you say they lack? I can see it in the armour, the old stuff definitely feels a bit more "antiquity" than the new armour plates, and the headwear, while not particularly assyrian, does also give it a bit of ancient flair.I've seen this argument applied to the foot guys in the past and I've always disagreed, I feel like if anything they're slightly more pseudo-assyrian than previous incarnations (especially the forgeworld Infantry which doesn't even try). Biggest example is the more thin stylized beards of the new guys which is as mesopotamian as it gets. though I actually don't like this change, the bigger bushier full beards of the old guys look better imo But on the bull centaurs I can see the argument more.
>>97876367They are this bizarre middle ground between the FW and OG sculpts so they don't really come off strongly in either flavor. For the faults of the Azghor's lads, they went for a new aesthetic and stuck to it, they had an identity. The new ones are more befuddled. Do like the shirtless guy banging the gong, that's inspired.
>>97876344Oh yeah fabelzel's stuff is great. Like I said not even much of an oldhammer aesthetic guy (nor into proonts for that matter) but his take on chorfs is amazing.>>97876381I personally don't see a whole lot of the forgeworld influence in nuchorfs. That aesthetic was very grimy and dirty, I think helsmiths are very much based on the old 4th (?) edition stuff, but given its own spin. Personally I go back and forth, even within the same miniatures there's a lot of stuff I both like and dislike. For the basic cohorts for example, I love the hexagonal scale armour, the general shape of the guys, even the sash is very characterful. But then the weapons are AWFUL, same with the helmets, and like I said while the beards are probably closer to the real world I personally prefer them wider, like the gong guy has.
>>97876316yes it is. its an officially licensed spinoff. its as canon as anything, and what the fuck do you mean isnt related to aos at all, it is THE aos roleplaying gamejust because you dont like it for whatever reason doesnt make it any less valid
>>97876492It's a weird thing where people don't want to acknowledge the wider developed world of the rpg. Like how gnomes still exist and live in the Empire for WFRP.
>>97874094Soon
>>97875966Eeerrrh no, I was there, 3000 years ago, and no, they were not universally hated. Their dynamism and character was very much celebrated. It is true that some lamented that they didn't look more civilised, but that's about it.>>97876211Sorry we offended your consoomer beliefs.
>>97876316that thing specifically appears in an animation tooeverything is canonnot everything is standard
>>97876670>everything is canon>not everything is standardUnless you're playing the game, in which case you'd better be using the official standard models
>>97876316>>97876321Honestly I think this steam tank on spiderlegs design always looked like shit and the actual cogfort (while not perfect) looks miles better
>>97876525Huh I wasn’t aware that gnomes exist in fantasy and I’ve been into fantasy as a game and setting for 20 years. I was ready to um actually you about Halflings being pretty normal in the Empire and them evening having their own province/The Moot. Interesting.
>>97876680No, that's not the policy, even at official tournaments you can go play with a converted steam tank with defiler legs and a tower on top and you won't have a single issue.
>>97876693sameI'm glad gw didn't stop at the opinions of the smoothbrains
>>97876734I got told I wasn't allowed to use fantasy orcs as 40k orcs by an lgs despite having the 40k arms and that has stuck with me all these years later.
>>97876745I personally think the way they constructed the cogfort is really dumb, that thing would crumble under it's own weight. Completely nonsensical construction for something that's mobile. You have to wave it away with " it's magic " and that's just bad/lazy.
>>97876753that's dumb
>>97876761It's got a supporting structure and whatnot, the only way by which you can think it's impractical if you're choosing to believe they did impractical choices beyond what's visible.
>>97876731Yup. Masters of the lore of shadows.
>>97876780I really need to buy a bunch of the 2nd edition rpg books to read just for lore/background.
>>97876785This is 4th edition dude.
>>97876791Yeah I am aware but I assume they are in 2nd edition too? I have heard that's the best for a consistent not politicized view of the Warhammer Fantasy setting, but idk as ive not actually read any of the books. My favorite lore usually comes from 4th-5th edition and some 6th edition Fantasy army books, if you could point me to where I would find stuff I would enjoy. As in which edition of the rpg.
>>97876791to be fair, 2nd edition is most probably written better when it comes fo fluff4th is just rulewise smoother, I'm told, and overall more complete, covering as many bases as possible fluffwise
>>97876807As far as I'm aware gnomes had been AWOL from the end of 3rd all the way until a few years ago.2nd does have the Naiads though, which are yandere monstergirls that hate elves.
>>97876807you won't find gnomes in 2nd editiononly 1st and 4th
>>97876819I didnt realize a lot of these books are available online as scans online for free. Very sick. I will do some reading after church today. >>97876822Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Is that familiar supposed to be a gnome? That makes sense and is actually incredible. That wizard sculpt is my favorite out of the new one, feels proper old fantasy. Although I really like the necromancer too. The only one I didn’t really like was the Druid looking guy (elementalist?)
This is the guy I don’t like, he looks too much like a WoW design for my tastes. But my question to lore guys here is, is the frog familiar something you guys recognize? Is this some kind of race in the lore or just an enchanted frog helper thing?
Speaking of Fabezel chorfs, anyone got their files? The google drive has been taken down.
>>97875135The way /k/ talks about them you’d be flabbergasted
>>97876840>Is that familiar supposed to be a gnome?yes, although it doesn't quite fit the shadowy rogues archetype that the 4th ed of the rpg wanted to have for the whole racebut then again, neither does the blood bowl team, or their older fluff, good chances of the ulgu gnomes being just one group of them
>>97876859>>97876870Wrong thread.
>>97876859probably just an awakened frog or frog shaped spirit of some sortno way a wizard would walk around with a slann as familiar
>>97876761The actual stonework seems rather thin, I think it's mostly wood.>>97876880You could use fabelzel's stuff pretty easily for helsmiths
>>97876876Yeah if the lore says the human settlements that border the moors see them regularly in various roles then they probably aren’t all shadow adept. Entertainers maybe for small illusions but the merchant gnomes are probably just trying to make an honest living. >>97876887Yeah, although the thought of a Pygmy slann being roped into serving as a familiar is quite funny.
Goddamn, they printed a special guide for the battleforce. Usually they just pitch in the regular instructions for the separate kits
>>97875975My post didn't even express an opinion. Are you illiterate? I was talking about what I've seen other people say.
>>97875796dwarf women without huge tits and hips seem too pedo-coded for me.
How would you guys rank the current factions from most to least in need of a refresh/second wave?At the top I think definitely idoneth, fyreslayers and daughters of khaine. Idoneth are weird because they objectively do have more units than say, flesh eaters, but they definitely feel like they need it more. Maybe because they've been using the same roster of non-hero units for the better part of a decade now, while flesh eaters are relatively new?Anyway, speaking of fec, they're probably in the next category of "yeah does need some attention too" together with guys like nighthaunt (decent range but very one-note) and say kruleboyz. You know armies that definitely have more going on but also don't really feel complete either? Then you've got the guys who are just lacking a unit or two, maybe some heroes to tie everything together, y'know CoS is doing pretty well now with all the new stuff, some warhulks or different cavalry would be cool but it's not a pressing matter. Lumineth with tyrion's lads or one or two ydrilan/zenith units is probably also in this category. Seraphon too, if we're just focusing on refreshes (skinks, saurus guard, couple characters)Finally we have the armies that are pretty much good, anything new is just a bonus. Stormcast obviously, soulblight, slaves to darkness, probably gloomspite.
>>97877093What are you, Australian?
>>97877125male dwarfs are wide, female dwarfs should be wide too. When an artist chooses to make them thin at beast they have very boring ideas of sexy. At worst when they think "sexy very short woman" their mind goes to a child.Dwarf women should be wide
>>97877159what's ligmar?
>>97875135No. It's loose and mucusy. Ask me how I know (I'm from non-coastal America).
>>97877152That's, like, your opinion man. Dwarves over there don't have the same inertia or history as here in the occident.Pic related is a dwarven man. I'm not sure if his roommate, Raven, is herself a dwarf or if that's from her monstrous heritage.
>>97877218That dwarven man also looks like a child! You're supporting my argument!
>>97877255Nah.
>>97877286You have pedophilia. And some kind of anime sickness too.
>>97877338This one's from a trrpg version of an anime.
>>97877413Nta but that sounds even worseAnyway, you guys think there's a shot we get the spearhead thingy announced tomorrow?
>>97877483Probably not? Seems a bit too early for Aos.
Are there any of these "scenic overview" type location illustrations for aos? I don't mean just a regular old street plan, but something panoramic like picrel. I feel like settlement art in general is few and far between.
>>97877589There was one for the jade abbey for Darkwater which I quite liked. There’s probably some in soulbound too.
Why are Fyreslayers so unpopular?
>>97877589>>97877604
>>97877610>mirrored poses>all look sameGolly, I wonder.
>>97877610>4 inch movement >don’t have throwing axes anymore >not tanky at all If I had to guess it’s because of that. They removed all the nuance that gave slayers a chance in previous editions. They have all the issues of dwarves without even the castle build to lean on.
>>97877662But have you considered: Magmadroth spam? Honestly I just think people buy Slayers and want to play Slayers but get pigeonholed into sucking ass or spamming the expensive ass monsters. But that's also an AoS problem in general this edition.
>>97877683I hate monster spam. This is an army game, no? Also the logistics of moving those bitches from place to place to actually game. Its why I never field Morathi.
>>97877618God that looks like shit.
>>97877726Sorry for your bad taste anon! Maybe go jerk off in the world building thread instead.
>>97877701I'm not a fan of it either and really dislike how AOS is on a competitive level right now. Skew lists that consist of 3 Warscrolls on average - a huge-fuck centerpiece god/hero/monster, generic monsters, and usually something OP that won't get meaningful increased points (look at those Command Corps).
I will never understand why people get so mad that Hellsmiths aren't exact copies of Chaos Dwarfs from Fantasy. Like this is AoS Sylvaeth don't look like Wood elves, lumineth don't look like high elves, khadrodon don't look like Dwarfs. I also feel like people only care about chorfs cause of Tww3
>>97877701This is a wargame, with a faction that is literally all monsters. Plus big things are badass.
>>97877610Because they got nerfed.Thats only tourney results
>>97877763>big monsters They’ve been at their worst in 4th edition in terms of playability in 4th so far so I already know you’re a no games >spam lists Literally the past 3 tournaments so far have had all the lists repeat maybe one or two reinforced units once or twice at most. But there is an issue of points being much bigger which does mean that you’re just generally not gonna see as much plastic on the table in general, which frankly is a good thing considering how crazy 40k 10th edition was with every list consisting of hordes that rivaled apocalypse.
>>97877772Well, it's because the new ones look bad. Extremely videogamecoded, but a bad, creatively-bankrupt slop game like WoW, not the Soulslike videogamecoding that AoS can actually sometimes pull off.You knew this, and when you said, "I will never understand," it was a lie.
>>97877894>because the new ones look bad.Half their range is STILL out of stock in the US, btw.
>>97877908We corn syrup and salt colored with carcinogens, we are not the purveyors of good taste.

>>97877589It's been one of my biggest gripes and reasoning for the setting to not have caught on better. So much of the art is as vague as the single paragraphs of lore that it's hard to find pieces that aren't a mess of intelligible digital brushtrokes.Granted, in relation to your original image they did have this in the 3e book.
>>97877894>You knew this, and when you said, "I will never understand," it was a lie.Reddit tier shit right there.
>>97877610this chart pretty much reads as a direct correlation chart with army range size.its almost like the more models a range has, the more people can find something to like about it. 1 or 2 exceptions but for the most part it holds true, most of the largest army ranges are at the top half, and most of the smallest army ranges are at the bottom half
>>97877624>mirrored posesthat is only a single model in the entire range, fuck off with this dogshit complaint. maybe a 2nd if you are being generous and including the runesmiter but even he has asymetrical weapons, as you can also give the unit leaderotherwise none of the poses are mirrored
>>97877960Sure thing my guy, only one.
>>97877894>They look like WoW Its been half a year of listening to people compare them to something they don't look anything alike. Somehow a faction wearing flat geometric shapes to rebel against anything organic filters people instantly. Btw does anyone have the deep dive into their design that one any did a few months back? I enjoyed his insight into how even the gems on them invoked Hashut.
>>97877967find me another
>>97877683I mean if you listen to fyreslayer players, they want to play blocks of fyreslayers (this is any edition of AoS) and that's what the army was good at playing for last three editions. The Magmadroth is a cool model, but just spamming monsters is kinda lame.
>>97877610because people don't want to run an entire army of ginger naked dwarves. >>97877941one of the worst things GW has done in recent years with their stuff is cheap out on background art for their books and stuff. Tons of awful meaningless featurless backgrounds to otherwise nice character art or the newest offender, literally just the blender model on a black background for the horus heresy books. They save pennies on art expenses that make the products so much less appealing
>>97877812I revived AoS by teaching people for 6 months and just finished off a PtG campaign.Baleful Lords just took 3rd at an event and a recent CoS army took 1st place and their list was 3 Command Corps, Cav and Cannon spam. Meta lists are degenerate garbage that boils down to spamming the only good unit (or 2-3) your entire range has.
>>97877970>a year of me pretending things are not as they are
Can any anons give me some gamplay pointers? I played my first 2k game recently and got tabled round 2 playing KO against BoK.
>>97878110>confirmed Last World rumour>Archaon and Sigmar fight>The conclusion is unknown>Followers of Sigmar say that he defeated Archaon>Followers of Chaos say that Archaon brutally slew Sigmar>Whatever happened, both vanished from the realms, and a new world was createdSo what's more likely? Archaon or Sigmar winning? Hate tha that GW left it open. What are the guys who bought the Archaon centerpiece going to do now that their Everchosen is MIA?
>>97878110Sure man tell us what you brought.
>>97878075I'm sure they wouldn't even have to pay much more to get much better art, either. Thomas Elliot was nailing out banger after banger, left the studio, and now he freelances for them, still making bangers and probably more money. Though I believe his departure was because of office politics based on his commentary on the GHB/4e SCE tome cover.
Been getting into Spearhead latelyEvery game so far feels like it's decided by who gets AttackerWith such a small battlefield, how do you not get to give yourself an alpha strike by winning that first roll-off?(playing Castelite Company btw)

>>97877772I'm just not appreciative of their style. I would have liked if they were copypasted, but I also would have liked if they were made different in a... different way. I just don't like the flat, low-detail, hexagonal motif stuff.
>>97874958>why did maggotchads get more cool shit than the seething bloodcels, coomcels, and bookcels when they were already cooler in the first placeYou’ve already answered your own question, anon. The Grandfather smiles on his followers
>>97878201>but I refuse to touch the setting until thenyou are making these people up. why would someone know or care about malerion and dark elves in AoS unless they were already elbow deep in it?
>>97878249Because until recently that's where you had to buy your edgy elves from. CoS from AoS.However they got racism'd out of CoS by diverse woman. Remember when assassins were agents of Sigmar? I remember.
>>97874094>final opinionthe warscrolls are fine, I really dont' care for DPP as a mechanic and am slightly annoyed that this faction specific resource thing continues to be a trend in every new book since then. Aesthetically I don't think they're better than the old chaos dwarves, but there's enough potential with warmachines like the bull standing bull thing that they could do more that's cool>how to expand the rangeinfernal guard for a morre elite 5 man shooting unit with better melee profile. Lamassu for another flying unit, the iron demon and hell cannon for cool warmachines. Eventually also a hobgoblin hero to give the dogshit chaff goblins a reason to be taken and the K'dai destroyer so they can have a more interesting centerpiece unit than dwarf on bull.
>>97878264I just wanted to see CoS twist on elves and dwarves. Instead I may as well just throw any and all books in the trash.
>>97878205The funniest part is that they actually won’t do that either>no give us new kits first Generally my experience when I ask them about old world
>>97878233not super experienced with KO, but just at a glance you're spending 450ish pts on 5 wound support heroes, and 900pts on boats. leaves you with only 650 for the rest of your army.thats probably a big part of the problem right there if i had to guess
>>97878249>making these people up Unfortunately for the both of us, anon I have met three such guys irl. Two of them work at the FLGS and the third guy was my friend’s roommate who only played tww and is a wiki lorelet. All of em still seething about the end times. Many such cases.
>>97878233You definite want the Flak Gun artifact against BoK. Giving a hero a 5++ and +1A sounds fun, but if your hero is in a melee, he's probably fucked regardless. 3+ save is nice and all, but it's a melee game and you're not a melee army. Even a single Rend makes you 50/50 for flubbing, and the Ward isn't going to help much if they swing enough at once.
>>97878373I can definetly afford to drop one hero, but I need a few heros to lead regiments and boats so the footsoldiers aren't stuck advancing 4 inches at a time. I did consider opting for multiple codewrights to save some points on heroes but I'm not sure what else to replace them with.
>>97878399>All of em still seething about the end timesBased. GW will never find absolution.
>>97878420back to /whfb/, tranny!
>>97878399I know people like that both online and real life too. Only one of them plays fantasy, and most of the fantasy playgroup have been neutral on AoS.
>>97878160The rumor also says archaon is still around and active, leading his armies from the north pole, but runs away whenever chunks of the new mcguffin god metal, supposedly pieces of sigmar, starts raining down from the sky. Sigmarites beleive that’s Sigmar sending it down to help them, from wherever he is.All this rumor stuff sounds dumb as shit, which unfortunately doesn’t say anything about it’s credibility
>>97878473We have a fairly active aos community here, but they’re very localized to one store, and they’ve been hemorrhaging members steadily since 4E dropped which sucks to see because the game is fun, even if it lacks a lot of that good 3E flavor. Huge bummer considering I’ve just started painting a MoN army with the release of the new wave of support
>>97878552Shame, but not surprising given the state of 4th edition. Which MoN models you working on, at the moment, anyway?Myself I am building the old CoS Spearhead right now, got some elf heads that I used with a few of the steelhelms and going to be work on the pontifex models soon too (with a head replacement.)
>>97878399The End Times cannot be forgiven or forgotten. Only by washing away The Mortal Realms may GW find absolution.
I checked this game out and it's like GW wanted to actively sabatoge any chance of AoS players getting it.>trailer shows zero AoS content>only actually found out the game had AoS stuff when I saw the steampage splash art>Check the warcom article to see who the playable heroes are>Neave "Sunk Cost" Blacktalon>random non-model having femcast, probably the same sprite as neave but with a helmet>and fucking gotrek who isn't even AoSI would have preferred if they hadn't even bothered and just made it 40k only. I'm almost certain you'll still be fighting the same orc enemies too, if they had bothered with skaven or something they would have put that in the trailer.
>>97878611>old world troon seethes forever>Old world gets jack shit at the latest PR event>meanwhile AoS gets a huge amount of new models and further supportyou should be thankful they bothered to bring back any kind of support for your old game, it's clear they only brought it back because some of the people who still worked there cared and not because it was actually going to make money. At my LGS they actually dumped all their old world stock and it's just more 40k and AoS now kek
>>97878598I’ve been working on Gelgus lately. Didn’t like his head so I gave him a new one that I felt was more menacing. Need to build a fancier base to swap him over to when I finish him. Been working on Festus, too, but he isn’t in any state to be shown to anyone yet. Do you have any pics of /yourdudes/ to share, anon?
>>97878647Cope, soon the sins will be washed away by GW's own misguided avarice.

>>97878641Yep. Any other named non female Stormcaster would be cooler. Even Underworlds ones:Severin Steelheart : big sword swingsSanson Farstrider : multi attack span bsAveron Stormsire : wizard bsetc(I think even the female leaders would be better than blacktalon)
they'll probably add more characters, considering how many the original vampire survivors got
>>97878641They're selling the aos version of the game alongside the 40k because nobody would buy it otherwise
>>97877947What would you say the main exceptions are? BoK? The range isn't amazing. Or reversely HoS? I would guess it's the rules screwing HoS.>>97878528The natural balance of power is upset by magical rocks falling from the sky. That's actually not a terrible premise for a wargame setting, it's just classic WH in reverse. It could reinforce the impression of AoS being the weird high fantasy mirror to whfb.In any case, I don't really care that strongly about the lore I hardly read anyways, so long as they continue releasing good looking minis. I would say their hit rate, for my taste, is better for AoS than their other ranges.
>>97879660hedonites yeah, which i chock up mostly to leather bondage S&M titty monsters being a bit of a niche aesthetic. you can see daughters of khaine on the bottom too right next to slaanesh. i think people just get weirded out about painting a whole army of naked ladies. thats my guess anywaysbut fyreslayers, kruleboyz and SoB are all micro ranges, nighthaunt is a larger range but every unit looks the same, no variety so it may as well be a micro range. deepkin, KO, and helsmiths are a sort of medium small range, not quite a microfaction size but not a full range for sure. ogres and cities i think are something else, those are both large ranges, but also both have a large amount of looming uncertainty with rumored upcoming squattings and refreshes, so if i had to guess people are just getting squirrely about those armies because their futures feel uncertain. fyreslayers gets hit with this effect too as well as being a micro range, a 1-2 punch, and i think their score being 30% lower than the next closest one at the bottom reflects that double dose of low model selection and uncertain future. but then you look at the top half and those are all pretty much the big tent macro ranges with tons of options, unit types and sub faction elements like skaven clans, stormcast chambers, gloomspite creature types, undeadd bones or vampires, and so on, where there are a lot of different model types and a lot of different collection angles and ways to build and play, and that variety i suspect is a large part of what drives their popularity, not actually winrate.
Just make a witch elf dating sim already where you hold hands with her then play as her hacking and slashing in the arena. This writes itself.
>>97877618Kino>>97877947Yeah I feel like this is one of the most overlooked factors (despite it being so obvious) for army popularity. The most popular armies tend to be simply the bigger ones>>97879660Yeah slaanesh has a pretty big range but is kind of cursed by being the weird sex army + high paint difficulty. Nighthaunt are also lower than they should be, but that's probably because their playstyle atm is kinda shit and it's a competitive list at the end of the day. At the other end of the spectrum FEC has a limited range but is quite high, though of course they're really good atm (plus carried by a baller concept before they even had modern minis)
>>97877947Nah, it's all about strength since for all of diversity people only spam the same units anyways.
>>97878170>Though I believe his departure was because of office politics based on his commentary on the GHB/4e SCE tome cover. That's interesting, what'd he say lol?>>97878171Isn't castellite company a notoriously shitty spearhead? I think it might be influencing your results somewhat.
>>97878641Is the game out already?
>>97879746Why won't you do it yourself? It's not that hard.
>>97879734>>97879787Good analysis. Recency is also a factor I think. FEC has some good recent sculpts, even though the total range isn't big. Several of the bottom ones have not got good releases recently. And yes, sex motifs probably filters a lot of potential buyers. I know I wouldn't have been allowed by my mother to paint those models when I was little, and as an angsty youth I would have been uncomfortable buying them.
>>97878641>GW wanted to actively sabatoge any chance of AoS players getting it.I mean realistically the devs of this game approached gw to make a 40k game based on their formula and gw told them sure, but you gotta pay x amount for the license, orrrr you can pay, let's say, 50% of x if you also slap aos on there. But y'know marketing wise every second of the trailer they spend showing off aos is a second not spent advertising 40k, which has 10x times the brand recognition aos has, if we're being real.I'm sure gw doesn't mind, their idea is probably that 40k tertiaries pick it up, play the game, get curious about these weird other golden guys, and start looking into aos from there.
>>97879787>>97879897Variety in the range matters as much if not more than total range size.a range with a pair of centerpieces, a pair of monstrous troops and a pair of troops is going to be more popular than a range with e times as many kits, but all looking the same and covering the same basesnighthaunt is a relatively large range but is an abysmally uniform one, compare then for example with moonclan, without spiderfangs or gitmob and people would still think that moonclan have more stuff than them, but they don't, they just have more interestingly varied stuff
>>97879942Depends on how you count I think. Just kits alone I think nighthaunt have like 20 or 21 compared to (non spider/gitmob) gsg at 18 or so. But gloomspite have a lot of dual build kits (stabbas/shootas dankhold/throggboss hoppers/bounders mangler/manglerboss fanatics/sporefanatics), while nighthaunt surprisingly has none, except that one box of 3 soul wars heroes. Which is really weird considering how similar looking their bodies are, I mean I was sure the scythe and sword elite ghosts shared a kit but apparently not?But yes nighthaunt silhouette diversity is kind of awful, only really the named heroes try to do some different stuff.
Me and my brother want to get into the game. Is the new spearhead with the skaven and humans a good entry point, bros ?
>>97880056We have no idea what the rules of those units will be yet (well, except the deathmaster I guess) nor the price point of the box itself. It's hard to give you any worthwhile advice as of yet.Do you guys like skaven and CoS? I would recommend against picking up an army that you're not all that interested in just because it's a good deal. You're going to be spending a lot of time building and painting those models after all.
>>97878373You admit you don't know what you are talking about so why even speak
>>97880056If you like the armies, sure. Why not.I would say if your bro likes Skaven just for the ninja rats and not all the Skaven there is zero chance he can make a usable army out them, but whatever. No idea when that stuff will drop, whoever likes the Skaven can probably find a ton of Skaven models for cheap online, the CoS player can pick you another CoS spearhead in the meantime.
>>97875796>>97875812very yummy
>>97880056The current spearhead starter set is like 220 dollars, so it'll probably be at a similar price point. Though on the other hand that one comes with a lot more plastic.
>>97875796Dwarf women look more like this
>>97878641in the reveal trailer a few months back they did show more of the AoS side of things, which included skaven hordesthey probably just didn't show any of it in the announcement trailer because 40k is 40k
>>97878233Oh hey anon cool looking list. But if I was to put my input in it doesnt look like it would do well into khorne. BoK is a very hammer army and all those Arkanut Company will not do well into them, the skywardens are good but they gotta be the ones swinging first to help ensure their survival. The gunstock might be hood as harassing his flanks and the ironclad should hold out against bloodletters. The frigate not bad either as it can do some good charge damage and help in melee, but I truly think the weak point is all those Companies you have. You could try some Vongrim salvagers instead those can be nasty. Also don't be discouraged KO is a hard army to play because your movement matters a lot and you have very tricky ways to play. PS if you have their terrain piece khrone would hate it cause the lil drones can move block him so bad.
>>97878641>>97880559This is from the developers reddit
Is Velmorn the most important named Wight character in the setting so far? I don't know of any others that have more than a small lore blurb about them. Sad if true since the Deathrattle Kingdoms are practically a whole subfaction of Soulblight and have no important characters to speak of.
>>97880584>BoK is a very hammer armyShit man I feel like half the armies in the game are "very hammer" armies at the moment>>97880636Pretty much, not much beyond a blurb each. That one guy that decapitated some uppity vampire who tried to order him around was pretty cool.I think they might double down on skellies for sbgl, a lich or named one isn't out of the question, as well as the inevitable foot king refresh. Also I'd say while not a king halgrim from cursed city had a bit of fluff by virtue of being in a whq.
>>97879734Cities range has dramatically reduced to a very small selection now that all we have is human freeguilds. Not microrange territory, but no longer large range as we have I want to say one more unit than Fyreslayers now once the witch and assassin are gone.
>>97879734I feel like KB and IDK are actually quite similar in that they have next to no "baseline" units (infantry/cav), but a fuckton of single model units (+lots of foot heroes for idoneth). KB only has gutrippaz and boltboys (+the warcry warband) for basic units, while idoneth has their two flavours of namarti. Meanwhile each faction has like 7 single model centrepiece or semi centrepiece units (though in the case of KB one of those is just a normal artillery piece)
>>97880612So when is this game meant to come out agein?
>>97880860Sometime this year.
City of Ash soonI can feel it
>>97881033I think someone at GW said it was going to be Cathay separate boxes this Sunday, but that seems a rather small release, could see the underworld Warband or MESBG Rohan stuff also getting released
>>97880693That sucks. While I don't want them to be further split up I personally find SBGL to be a bit anemic in the variety department as it is despite having what feels like it should be a rather healthy model range, I do hope they further flesh out the SBGL subfactions in the future. More Deathrattle centric stuff to make a pure skeleton army a bit more interesting. More zombies than just the basic zombie unit and corpse cart. For the love of god more Vampires than just a million Vyrkos characters GW please I beg you use the other bloodlines.I really thought that after 10 years there would be at least one Wight King that can be an actual character.
>>97881130>spoilerThey're alright, doing far better than most factions in the game but yeah a lot of that is random one off characters that kind of stand out. They could use a nice monster besides the dragon I think. And bring back the damn ogres!

>>97881296>The Old World and not Warhammer Fantasy Battles Wow you people are cuckec
https://jobs.games-workshop.com/search-and-apply/warhammer-concept-artistInteresting that GW is hiring a concept artist specifically for TOW. This is the first time I’ve seen them hiring an artist for a specific game. I wonder if going forward they will hire people specifically to be artists for AoS too.
>>97881296I'm sorry your game didn't get any new reveals again :( Please go back to your dead general though
>>97881210I know it's all brand new plastic and everything, but this is more a start collecting than a spearhead. Also obr battleforce is finally here for those interested.
>>97881349kinda wierd that every release is a FOMO in some way even the BL book is only being released in the special limited edition format for some reason
>>97879801Obviously he couldn't go into more detail as he still has a freelance relationship with them but it's easy to see a connection between his post and all those abysmal cover arts being done by the same person.
>>97881353Like 1-2 years ago the fomo model was doing really well for them. They were selling out every box quite quickly for every system. In the last 6-8 months they’ve either massively ramped up the production of the fomo boxes, or people have stopped biting because I see tons of fomo boxes even rotting on shelves even for 40k, which 2 years ago would have been unthinkable. But GW is a behemoth that changes slowely. So all these fomo products we are getting now are probably from the mandate they instituted during that fomo frenzy.
>>97881337Looking at some of the concepts some artists did for this hiring, some of them would fit AoS more imo.pic being an example
>>97881364Wow that’s genuinely awful. Where did you find this? And are there more?
>>97881289>Have we ever gotten AoS BL special editions like that? The Realmslayer script doesn't countYes. Off the top of my head, the Yndrasta novel was first released as a limited edition.

>>97881364>>97881389Nvm it's just from the one guy, I thought you stumbled upon a treasure trove of gw's selection process concept art for some reason
>>97881399It's odd they're doing another wave of hiring for TOW after only 16 months, suggesting the turnover for staff at GW must be quite high
>>97881407Might be that they are simply hiring more artists in accordance with the scope expanding. Or that their current guy is leaving.
>>97881413or that TOW isnt doing so hot and they need new art for marketing purposes
>>97881337Oh is that usually not a game specific thing? I'd imagine the profile of a fantasy and scifi concept artist would be a bit different, though I guess 40k is a lot more fantasy coded than most scifi stuff. Blanche did both iirc.Anyway I saw a job application for aos lore guy or something posted somewhere else earlier, you'd have "encyclopedic knowledge of the mortal realms" which I found quite funny considering, y'know...>>97881407Could be that they're expanding I guess? Outside of cathay which was designed years before tow has only had a couple new releases, could be that they're doubling down on new releases. I'd imagine the nostalgia well has run dry for a lot of units, squeezed all the extra money out of nostalgic boomers they could but I don't think newcomers are lining up to buy the wood elf beastmaster for example.
>>97881415It says specifically Concept artist in the job advertisement, and outside of placating angry Steel Legion fans, GW concept art is rarely shown off
>>97881420>I saw a job application for aos lore guy or something posted somewhere else earlier, you'd have "encyclopedic knowledge of the mortal realms" which I found quite funny considering, y'know...I think that was specifically for Soulbound, so not a GW job

>>97880091cunt
>>97881829Ever so slightly, yes....why?
>>97881846I haver a converted character who used a knight of shrouds sword in two different models now, so when I was building a third I ordered another sword. But I bought one from the on foot version (which looks all rusted and beaten up) and I'm worried it wont look right next to the other versions.
>>97881859I see. You could try and smooth out the little gaps in the foot sword with liquid greenstuff or something, but it'll be very fine work.
>>97881453>two piddly L shaped ruins and 3 things of scatterFuck you GW.
>>97881878I have liquid plastic putty, I could try use that.
I want to kitbash a lewd Warstomper for my chaos army, any suggestions? Undivided? Or one of the four? Armor? Mutations? I can’t decide
>>97881984>lewdwhy
When do the new kits get their sprues revealed
>>97881984Lewd how? Big tits female giant? Or male giant with female slaves and a living condom?
>>97881453So turns out the guy who ran the 7 terrorgheist list to a tourney is splitting the box with me. I'm going for the cities dudes, do we have like an conceivable idea of how the cities dudes will even play? Grenadiers look good but I'm not sure what role they'd even play in the army since I'm under the assumption knights will probably just be a replacement to hammerers as more elite infantry.
>>97882119Saturday, unless GW themselves show off the spruce before that, but that's kinda rare
>>97882101>>97882130Female giant
>>97882161Oh, thats boring and I care less. Just buy a suitably big anime figurine I guess and then stick some chaos bits on.
>>97881984Sculpt some giant tits on her with one guy fucking one tit and another dude getting crushed to death between them paizuri style
>>97881882Its spearhead bro calm down.
Has anyone ever tried painting veins on your models? I'd like to try my hand at adding some boobs veins to a vampire but I'm not sure if we're at too small a scale for it to look good.
>>97882244I mean, people do it. People much better than me who probably have an idea of what the fuck they're doing. I think I did veins on an eyeball once or twice but that's about it.
>>97882178But a lewd male giant would just be Warstomper with a hanging, uncut, smegma covered dick
>>97882253That has a woman riding it undercarriage style. Maybe some more strapped on as living armor of sorts.
>>97882268For a regular giant, sure. But I was going to do a mega gargant, the size isn’t right, they are way to big for that, even a pinky finger would rip a person in half.
>>97882222No. Look at the terrain you got in a war cry box and how it's not simply to break up LoS.The conspiratorial part of me says GW killed Warcry to stop selling as much terrain so they can charge more for less.
>>97882306>even a pinky finger would rip a person in half.Hot. But if youre worried about size you could always get a bigger lady like Allarielle or something.
>>97882244
>>97882324OHHH I think I know how they got that effect, I saw a similar video on doing marble. You can like, rip off the end of cutips and kinda stick it on while you paint over the top layer with a lighter color!
>>97882307That would imply we're getting a thondian strongpoint esque box in Embergarde. Which, I'm gonna be real I don't see happening, especially since they don't seem to be pushing incarnates. (Sorry gang, no flaming giant tribal tatted dude made of fire)
>>97882464Bro, the deepkin incarnate?
>>97882581Does that count as a realm incarnate?
>>97882581No one remembers that, not IDK fags.
>>97882593I do, I personally think it's makes a better krondspine alternative model.
how bad is this? should i end my useless chud life?
>>97882687Over all it’s fine but I would dry brush the cloth with something to make it dirty.
does anyone have a high quality scan of the third edition SCE battletome?i am willing to share from my collection in return.
>>97882704Why would you drybrush with stormcasts?
>>97882324Damn that's disgusting. Impressive.
New spearhead box confirmed to be a fomo product (feels odd but whatever), also same price as the current spearhead starter set so 175€/220$ which feels quite steep for the amount of plastic when compared to the current box. Not a bad deal at around 87.5/110 for each half, but still a downgrade from the current one.
>>97882876Compared to kill teams I can very much stomach the price.
>>97881878Slathered it in liquid greenstuff and then scraped it smooth with a knife (and then sanded it for good measure). Not sure if it turned out well, but well see. Seems to have filled the gaps okay.
>>97882959Best of luck anon, keep me updated now I'm invested
someone claiming to be Boole is posting on various armies specific aos subreddits (not on TGA) about what will happen in The Last Worldhe claims that stormcasts will continue as usual; that FS won't get squatted and not even souped with the future Khazalid Holds but will have their own battletome, and most surprisingly that Idoneth won't get squatted either and that we will have a new army in the form of these Abolon fishmen the Idoneth once fought againstscreenshoots all of these reddit posts can be found on the TGA Rumor threadmost TGA posters call bullshit
>>97883047>screenshoots all of these reddit posts can be found on the TGA Rumor thread>TGA Rumor threadthat's where you should fuck off, faggot
>>97883047Confirmed fake by actual boole, just checkedHe did post some stuff about the new factions though, seems like there's not much to them as of right now honestly, calling them new factions based on this seems a bit hasty to me.
>>97882964Thanks. Ill try get him primed tomorrow and then ill see just how fucked the sword is
>>97883058>We noticed a lot of you are really interested in one thing, so we figured we should explain — about those 5 new factions >They've got one illustration, a short lore paragraph, and a pin on the map — nothing else special>Gotta say, their situation's a bit better than the silent people, but that's about it well at least we know that now
>>97883047>>97883058>tfw no Abholon armytoo bad, would have been cool
>>97883047> and most surprisingly that Idoneth won't get squatted eitherWhy is that surprising in any way? What even led you down this thought?

>>97880636Yeah, because he was in an Underworld expansion box and their warband had about 3 pages of lore + what we got in the cards. >>97881337They probably already have a concept artist for AOS (specifically). The thing with TOW is that it is aos adjacent and if they want to expand on the setting again they would need to have people dedicated to it.>>97881362IDK if this is male or female.Other than that it is cool.>>97881364Bat is too big imo. But ok concept.>>978814532 years of it. Tiresome indeed.>>97882217What is PIC from? Gantz?

Hello /aosg/, I've just started getting into AoS with some friends of mine. I did play a little bit of WHFB way back in the day with a Lizardmen army, but I stopped being involved with the hobby and liquidated all my stuff about 15 years ago before picking it back up again in 2024 with 40k. I always liked Skaven even during the WHFB times, but the number of models and painting skin/fur intimidated me. I finished painting my first rat today.
>>97883105>...is that the metal carnosaur?Yes. Fucker is heavy. >Is this for 40k?Fantasy. Latest iteration of my chaos lord (I initially built him as an archon for 40k, but that didnt work out so I built a 2nd copy when I needed a lord on dragon, now im building yet another version on a demonic steed)
>>97883119No, I mean the part that made you think they would be squatted.
>>97883135Looks too 40k even by the standards of Aos, but I guess if it’s chaos it can pass. Kinda rare to see someone do this many kitbashes of their character, buts it’s nice to see.
>>97883123Hey, that looks pretty good from where I’m sitting.
>>97883140Different anon here, let me explain what happened>boole poorly wrote his leaks>people misunderstood half>then they made up the rest to fit their story>others started repeating it as '100% going to happen'Happened the same with AoS launch and other things, even dumb shit like Malekith fusing with his dragon.
>>97883123Grats on the rat buddy>>97883135Sovl>>97883184Nta but he clarified pretty quickly that no factions/models were going away, but there was some uncertainty about specific characters which is where people started speculating.
>>97883171>Looks too 40k even by the standards of AosTheres no overt techy gubbinz, so I just chalked it up as "ornate elvish armor". >Kinda rare to see someone do this many kitbashes of their character, buts it’s nice to seeThanks, Used to be that when your monster died (and the monster would often die before the rider) the guy would end up as a now infantry unit. I know people often just sub in an unrelated model but that felt a bit lame. The rule has changed now, but I thought it would be cool if I could use "the same guy" in multiple ways, so he can lead the army more often. Maybe ill give him a version on horse one day.
>>97883135>>97883171Is fine, the anon did a good job even if the 40k vibe is still there.
>>97874094I still don’t get why he’s called shartor.
>>97883365because he "shat" on sigmar
If the rumors about The Last World are true and we're getting more human factions inspired by real world civilizations (not-Nippon, not-Cathay) and CoS get turned into not-Renaissance Europe, do you think this will mean an end to californian demographics in the game with these human factions becoming mono-ethnic per historical reality serving as inspiration ?
>>97883511kill yourself, racist
>>97883511>CoS get turned into not-Renaissance Europethey already are apart from demographics as you mention
>>97883511Only the non-white countries are allowed to be monoethnic, anon.
>>97882687The glossy finish might be caused by your washes and/or varnish not being properly stirred and agitated
>>97883630i think its the vallejo topcoat i used honestly
Does anyone know a good place to source miniature flowers from? Tufts look like shit, and there are flowers for train shit but I’m kinda looking for more variety than what they offer.
>>97883610We need more occidentalist stereotyping.
>>97881453When was the last time they had blood on a board or a miniature like this?
>>97884237>minature Probably something related to Khorne or nurgle. >board That’s honestly a good question. Generally this mat looks better than what gw usually pushes out.
>>97882687Not bad but looks like you didn't thin the paint enough before painting. If I m mistaken then ignore but it is best to do multiple thin coats than doing one thick one, even with white and light colors. Also If you used wash/shade colors I think you overdid a bit in some parts. Not that makes it bad it is just that now I like doing small layers with thin paint and because of that I dislike doing simple coats. Also dry brush can add lots of textures and effects, like one anon said: you could use it to make the cloth look dirt or used/damaged. You could drybrush layers of the base to add depth and amateur-ish highlights (you could even make the sand and stones with it (sand going from brown to yellow and white tones)(stones going from dark blue to light tones a bit of brown then rakatash flesh-corax white))(highlights is really good to add depth to minis but doing those with normal brush and thinned paints is better overall). If you used gloss varnish I think you applied too much or at least it is not one I would like to use.BTW if those are one of your first minis don't bother too much, you build technique as you keep painting and look into it. Nobody starts the hobby doing golden demon level shit.
>>97881453Moderately hopeful the CoS side gets treated like SCE with the Skaventide box. I can split it no problem, but if I can just get some dudes for like $120, I'd be happier then. Don't want to worry about off-loading the Spearhead set and the Skaven (he's also an Ork player so he's extra fucked this year)
>>97884457I'm wondering how many people are gonna dump the cities stuff so they can get ninja rats, I'd really like to get more shooty dudes and knights for my cities force.Though i'll wait until I start seeing warscrolls.
>>97875167>g-go to dr basedberg and get your T levels checked!my test is HIGH, NIGGA.
Do the knights in cities have much in terms of bits?
Have the Fire and Ash prices leaked yet?
>>97884838$220 msrp.
>>97883511None of those factions will get models anytime soon. They are just an excuse to allow people to use TOW models as CoS.
>>97884840What in the actual fuck lmao
>>97884838Why would anyone dark elf female care about a human?Sounds like wish fulfillment
>>97881424Nah it's an actual gw job
Seems the way magic and prayers will change a bit in 5th. I hope it stays as far away from 40k as possible because there magic is basically just a keyword.
>>97885182Abloo bloo bloo.
>>97884840USD?>>97885182Have you not read the books?
>>97885252Yes. 220$, 175€, and something like 134£. Same price as the current spearhead starter if you wanna look up more currencies.
>>97885261So same price as Ultimate Starter set? There's no way it's the same price as the Spearhead starter, that had no minis, just the terrain
>>97885207Went to check up on the Boole posting myself, it’s not great, it’s not terrible. Idk. It entirely depends on how magic is changed, 8th edition fb had many faults but magic was cool as shit. I’d post my full thoughts but I’m fucking exhausted.
>>97885252The books where they hate humans and find them gross and its shameful but they keep having kids with them anyways. Women.
>>97885278The ultimate starter set IS the spearhead starter set anon. They rebranded it. I wasn't talking about the sand and bone thing, sorry if that caused some confusion.
>>97885300So it’s like white wine but with dogs?
>>97885281Wasn't magic like extremely bullshit lethal in 8th or am I thinking of another edition?
>>97885388It was, but it was fun. And most of the issues came from how you built wizards iirc. I can’t imagine they’ll do a repeat of making magic crazy like they did at the start of 4th edition where some endless spells were one shotting shit like archaeon.
>>97885310All good. I was a bit confused but I'm also mind of retarded.>>97885300Lol yeah, typical women. They still fuck men
>>97885426It's not like they're lacking in male elves. Could just fuck those and not be a bitch about it.
>>97885441*cough* yeah like uh…those warlocks eh?
>>97885445Those are hilarious.>we only value strength and want strong partners!>no, not like that
>>97885449>>97885445>>97885441Lol Warlocks. They're born subs, it's much more challenging to make human men subs
>>97885460Not even. They hate them because their power isn't drawn from Morathi but from Ulgu itself. So even though they're strong and can fight it doesn't count and they are deeply distrusted.
>>97883058>as for 5th core rules, it a mash up of the worst rulesets for 3 different gamesStellar news everyone!
>>97885467Not all the elves are either. Most are natty. The only ones which are actually drawn directly from Morathi's blood are the Scäthborn
>>97885555The magic system would be better than what any system atm has depending on how they scale power dice, would also be funny if Aos gets lore to select from. The only thing Aos can really copy from 40k that I can see, are detachment systems, and attaching heros to units. The latter I already know opens up issues altogether in the long run but im unfamiliar with detachments in 40k.
>>97885589I've heard tow players complain about the magic system before though I must admit I'm unfamiliar. How does it work in 8th?
>>97885680You’re probably better off asking there than here. My memory of it isn’t the best to begin with. I also can’t find my rule books so go figure. Also I’m not really gonna go on an essay about fb mechanics here, until we’re definite on the upcoming changes it’s worthless speculation.
I guess they kinda forgot to post this when the new stuff was actually duehttps://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/iqvtvqgk/chronicles-of-ruin-past-present-future/
>>97885752lmao good one gw
>>97885445Warlocks were retconned, it's only the males in the Warcry warband now
>>97885724Off the top of my head the only major difference is that it worked using dice pools. Like, to super simplify it you would roll each turn to determine how many spellcasting dice you had and then split that up between whatever spells you were casting. So like if you wanted to dump 5 dice into one spell you could.TOW is more similar to AoS in that the number of casts you get is set by the wizard you are using, and it's always two dice per cast, though it keeps some of the other WHFB trappings like miscast tables and shit. Personally I don't think bringing dice pools back is a good idea.
>>97885783What did your elementary teacher tell you about using words that you don’t know?
>>97885783>it's only the males in the Warcry warband nowAnd in two of the UW warbands
>>97885788retcon basically underwent a semantic shift for a big part of the fanbase to where to them it now just means any change in fluff, not necessarily a retroactively applying one.

>>97885822>>97885822>>97885822
>>97885824you should blame 40kids
