>>97883462WHERE ARE YOUR PAINTED MODELS?!
do you think the emperor has ever scratched his ass or is he so perfect he doesn't even get an itchy ass
>>97883462>TQ: How’s your WIP? unfortunately, as soon as I got home I spent the next 6 hours in bed doing fuck all, but I did get up at some point to paint some of the metals on, and put some more coats on the shoulderpads.
>>97883498Nice Space Marines anon.
>>97883463just because someone said nice picture doesn't mean we need to circlejerk about BA
>>97883502That explains why every game is Space Marines vs Space Marines. All the other factions are just wearing their looted armor all the time!

I havent played a game since 7th edition and havent painted since 9th. Now my instagram feed gets full of 40k content and it makes me wanna put together those rubric marines i bought years ago.

>>97883462>T'au edition>How's you're work in progressI finally built my last crisis suits. Need to paint them. But I have a lot of writing i need to do first.
>>97883565It wouldn’t be a bad time to get your army in order with a new edition around the corner.
>>97883618This isn't complete until the venerable dreadnought calls them EPIC FAILS in impact.
>>97883462>Tau editionQuestion for all the blueberries ITT: How do you feel about the more cynical portrayals of the Tau like in Fire Caste? It's less insufferable than the stereotypes but I wonder if it's more "Tau for people who don't like Tau" or just more nuanced.>>97883603I like how stark the colors are, very retraux. Are you airbrushing at point blank? Very flat coats with just a suggestion of overspray. If not, what paint is that?
How do I get over doing like 3 layers of highlights on a basic battleline legionary or guardsmen? It really hinders me from getting stuff done but I feel like I’m making a hamburger without any lettuce or tomato on a untoasted bun. It’s something I’m struggling with so I’m curious about how you anons found your sweet spot in army painting. Pic unrel
>>97883647I didn't, I take like 2 evenings to paint one marine and I like it that way desu.
>>97883633I love Fire Caste. Its the exact sort of portrayal of Tau that I love. For me the perfect example of that sort of Tau is encapsulated in using Gue'vesa as Breachers, and Breachers only. I love the sort of Subtle evil that the Tau can be. Especially with Ethereal's. That said, I also like the super optimistic tau, but for that I like to think that Farsight enclaves work best.
>>97883483I need context of this. And 40k edits.Like that guy being edited like a 40k inquisitor.
>>97883462
I'm using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement for assembly and I got 2 questions, when trying to hold to pieces together, do I put heavy pressure on it or just gold it lightly? And when trying to let go of a piece gently after placing it on a body, my finger gets sticky. How do I prevent this?
>>97883669Punished Dorn?

>>97883647For chaff you are 100% justified in drybrushing instead of layering up. If you look at the old painting guides it was standard operating procedure for the grogs, and if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.You will want to learn how to drybrush well though, if it's all streaky you'll be convinced it's no good.
>>97883679>pressureHold it firmly in place, apply some pressur, not enough that you damage the model obviously, but don't just like it sit lightly on there either>my finger gets stickypowder-free nitrile disposable gloves, the cheap ones that have like 100-200 in a pack

>>97883462>TQIt's a mess but it's starting to come together
>>97883705>IF players have some of the highest morale around>plus they feel catered to for being "the other vanilla marines".fresh delusion
>>97883679If your finger is getting sticky then you're letting the cement get where it shouldn't be by either applying too much or applying it sloppily. It can be tricky to avoid this if you're doing a seam weld since in that case you deliberately apply excess cement so it squeezes out the top and it can be tricky to avoid making a mess, but if you're just attaching an arm or a leg or something it probably just means you're applying too much and making it overflow/run.
>>97883618What if it's a battlecry connected to the 6th and 7th companies, a reminder of their status as the first of the reserves to be deployed? Huh? Ever thought of that?

where do i find the 500 world books on the warhammer webstore?
WTF happend to Codexes/Codecies? I've been out of the hobby for a while and I'm trying to get my kid into it and he like the Tyranids and there is almost no lore in the Codex. How the fuck is he supposed to like the units or the army? There isnt even fucking pictures of the models. WTF are they doing here? I started at 2nd ed and they had great lore for each unit/model and made me fall in love with them. WTF is going on?
>>97883872>>97883895This shit right here is what my 2nd ed codex had in it, lots of it.
>>97883888That along with every narrative campaign book are "while stocks last" meaning they won't be restocked. Your best bet is finding one at your local game/hobby shop. 500 Worlds I've noticed isn't too hard to find even online. Others like Maelstrom will be much harder to find.
>>97883904oh true, i was just looking for campagin supplment rules part :')
>>97883895Yeah, codex quality has dropped immensely since about 8th edition. Less narrative snippets, smaller gallery sections, fewer conversions and painting guides, and less cool evocative art replaced by digital renditions of models reproduced exactly or low quality portraits.
>>97883888>>97883904I got 500 worlds today. Is there no digital copy for the book? I cant find one like I do in the Codexes.
>basecoat almost done on collage entry>already losing interest>think of challenging myself on a technique to keep interest>remember i'm covering it in grime and blood lateridk, space wolf colors are boring. do i drybrush as a joke then?
>>97883341As someone subbed to the Combat Patrol magazine currently (58 issues in) I can raise the same sentiments as the other people who replied to you>Do you like the armies? If you like like at least 6/9 of them or have a friend you'd be up to splitting it with, then yeah it's a good deal. For me it was>Already collected Imperial Guard & World Eaters>Wanted to start Marines, CSM, and Orks>Had no interest at first but now have a full 2000+ points in Eldar along with a Titan I'm gonna be working on this summer.>Selling the Votann stuff to a Friend>Not totally sure what I wanna do with the Tyranid/GSC stuff yet.If you only really want 2-3 of the armies then it's not really worth it.>Is it good for a new player? The magazine contents are very good at this part, It's primarily coded around the Combat Patrol game mode but it does provide the basic contents of the core rules included in later issues too. It won't be a 1/1 jump into true 40k though (Ignoring that 11th edition is gonna be out in 2-3 months the Eldar Combat Patrol still uses Fate Dice for its army rule). IMO I feel like it's been worth it, I've gotten some pretty nice models out of it and it's nice getting a new drop of issues every 4 weeks.
How do we make GSC more interesting?
>>97883911They are not digital. The detachments included in each narrative book are added to the WH40K app for free after the book is released. Special rules are not made available in the app.
What book contains these datasheets?
How would you fix Knights(both kinds) as an Army? Without just removing them.
>>97883866hey! that’s not nice to say about your minis!
>>97883936Huron's update was first availble in the Maelstrom campaign book. The datasheet should be available to you in the app if you already own Codex: Chaos Space Marines. If you do not own the codex, that is what you will need.
>>97883941New rule for void shields, it's an infantryish defensive profile you have to chew through before you can get to the anti tank profile. Regens whatever wounds a turn. Replaces the invuln.
>>97883941Just remove them.
>>97883947There are 3 books in the campaign box, which one is it in?
>>97883933Big tits queen of the swarm named character who leads rebellion not just against the Imperium but against the overmind of the Tyranid hivefleets as well and actually does believe in overthrowing both tyrannical powers for the union of the Cults and Genestealer independence and suffrage.
>>97883941Hey I recognize that Knight!
>>97883941Give them bondsman with OC2 and reduce the OC on KNIGHTS down a bit and take away their special action rules so people have to actually use infantry alongside the mechs. Also give them more brackets so they're no always fighting at full power and combat effectiveness even when more than half their wounds are gone.
>>97883941Relegate them to a 3000+ point "Apocalypse" game mode along with flyers and primarchs.
>>97883941Give them a ton of serf infantry. Make them like guard with lots of disposable infantry with tanks but it's medieval peasants with knights.
>>97883973I apologize. You shouldn't need any of the books to find the datasheet. It doesn't look like they will be in a book until the next codex for CSM.
>>97883941increase points or limit the amount of knights you can bring and expand the range to include normal dudes in 40Kified medieval getup who serve the knight.
>>97884001What - The - Fuck ?! I bought the books and couldnt find the fucking data sheets.... THEY ARNT IN THE GOD DAMN BOOKS??
>>97883997iconoclast fiefdom exists and is significantly less cancer to play against than normal knights
>>97883997Based and correct.>>97884034Yes but it needs to be built into the army and codex as the default and not a grotmas free soup detachment they may not even keep going forward.
>>97884010That is correct. It's not all doom and gloom though. You still have the Crucible of Champions rules that will likely never see a digital release. Personally I am envious of you since I was never able to secure my own copy.
>>97883462>current wipfinally getting around to assembling my dark angels army to replace my ultras. picrel

>>97884076I like inner circle but the terminators are trying too hard. I hope the storm wing shit gets a good update though, I generally like those concepts more.

I'm new to the tabletop game, and I'm wondering how hard is it to get into the game? Is the community pretty bad? Am I gonna get bullied for unpainted miniatures or 3D printed miniatures? I really love the video games and lore and have minis I just never actually played or know what the community is like at game stores. Are there pretty bad LGS goblins?
>>97885238>Am I gonna get bullied for unpainted miniatures or 3D printed miniatures?yeah by me
>>97885238Everything you read online is an exageration and under a microscope. If you have a lgs near go and see what it's like, a lot run building and painting tutorials so you could try that as well.tldr: touch grass
>>97885238Nobody gives a fuck about 3d printed minis unless they look like shit or you're trying to pass them off as originals. I give a pass on unpainted as long as I can see that you're consistently showing up week to week with a little more work being done. If your shit is still grey a year later I will bully you.
It's honestly the painting aspect that keeps me from playing. I don't really wanna fuck it up and have it look ugly.
Finally got around to painting up the little hologram table thing I made forever ago out of a juice cap, some spare bits and spackle. I think I can probably do better, so I might go back tomorrow night and try sprucing up the glow around the edges of the table but for now it's good. Next time I make one of these I'm definitely gonna add more greebles to the table itself - I kept it intentionally bland for this one to not distract from the hologram on top but it definitely needs some thick chunky cables or something to go on it.
>>97885284That's just a part of learning any new skill, it's the willingness to try and get better that's the most important aspect.
>>97885284You can always strip a model and start over again, though you should absolutely keep your first painted model as-is to remind yourself how far you've come. You're never gonna be good at a new skill when you start it, but you'll be surprised at how far you can go if you put in the time and effort. Also, it's never been easier to start painting minis than right now. There's new guides being put out pretty much daily on places like youtube to learn from.
>>97885288Pondering the board
How do I stop losing with elf armies? When I play aggressively I lose half my army turn 2 and don't get anything for it and when I play defensively I just lose the whole board and get boxed in and killed. I've played over 100 games now and I just don't understand what I am doing wrong. I just want to play an army that can win by actually killing things and not have to play space marines.
>>97885284It's not about skill, it's about learning all the little tricks and shortcuts that help you get a decent result without a lot of effort. Basecoat, ink wash, drybrush is a staple that will get you looking better than 80% of the armies out there and is piss easy to do, even in big batches.

>>97885525>Why does GW absolutely hate Eldar in lore but will always be the strongest army on the table?BL writers seethe about playing against Eldar and reflect that in their writing. An army's gimmick being movement, positioning and specialised units turns out to be quite difficult to balance in a game about movement and positioning where generalisation is often a waste of points. Hard to balance goes both ways, though - Eldar currently have one of the lowest winrates of any army and will likely ride out the edition towards the bottom of the pack.
>>97885607I thought they were the strongest army in 10e?

>>97885614They have been at several points -Wraithknights at the start of the edition, Ynnari after the Codex and to a lesser but still real extent Aspect Hosts some time after that, but the nerfs were always forthcoming (Wraithknights and Ynnari were both rendered completely unplayable by theirs) and the latest set of balance changes left Eldar costed as if their units were durable without the ability to jump back into transports that justified that price, so it's a list of fragile, inefficient units.tl;dr: >>97885621

>>97886102Meh/10Not that interesting.
>>97886158The vanguard vets last week really tanks my enthusiasm and I don't care for Orks. I might skip this box after all.
>>97886183But why?>>97886186I dunno man, being a fan of something where you actively hope they never get attention feels backwards. Do you even count as a fan if you don't want enjoy how they're portrayed?
>>97886102RIP what I think was the skins' last piece of resin
>>97886182You had 10 years to buy and a made to order last august lmao what were you doing
>>97886201Aesthetics are super cool. The lore of their fall and the path system and the Webway and dark kin are all cool.Their tactically flexible play style is cool. They have neat subfactions with distinct differences that can change up the way they play a lot.Their unique technology based off of the warp and using it and souls in various ways is unique and feels like a full realization of the capabilities of the setting.
>>97886102It’s just mediocre. It’s busy for the sake of being busy, too top heavy too. The coolest detail on the model are the feet wrappings, idk I just like that. Should have been on his hands too.
>>97886076>be me 1 year ago>see a 10yo kid with his 50yo mom at the gw store>he's getting a free mini of the month (krieger) and a heckin aeldari codex>feel bad for him for getting scammed twice
>>97886102I like him. What will truly determine whether or not I buy the box is how the Land Speeder looks.
How common are Inquisition-aligned chapters? I got multiple Adeptus Arbites transfer sheets for cheap and I started to think about building a small custom chapter with the Adeptus Arbites logo serving as the chapter symbol. It looks dope as fuck and can easily serve as an IF successor chapter symbol.
>>97886201It's not backwards. An actual fan is a one who cares and isn't going to happy when a corporation keeps enshittifying what they like. And why would I enjoy what GW has done to the eldar as faction and how they are now portrayed? Why would I like this? You're not a fan if put on a fake smile despite GW doing something bad you don't like, especially to a faction you like.To "enjoy" that is pure cuck mentality.
>>97886224The inquisition has a couple of attack dog chapters
>>97886221>>97886199my favorite thing is that it'll cost 275 dollars>less content>models just coast off of 3rd edition nostaliga>jack up the cost>>97886186>Only people who actually beg for exodites are retards.exodites are cool
>>97886102It's alright. Quite generic but I guess it does the job. Which is why I won't be getting it
>>97886102Is he on a fucking 50mm? What the fuck is with the scale creepAlso looks mid
>>97886102cut the lightning and paint the brain anew and i guess it could be passing
>>97886226>And why would I enjoy what GW has done to the eldar as faction and how they are now portrayed?Because GW is the company that made the faction? This is the equivalent of liking the first book in a series, disliking the five books that followed it, then still saying you're a fan of the series. You're not an aeldari fan, you're a fan of your made up headcanon concept of the aeldari that you created bevause you hate how the actual aeldari are written and portrayed. You've gaslit yourself into thinking you like a faction when in reality you hate it.
>>97886224There's like 3-4.Grey Knights. Deathwatch. Red hunters. Sisters of Battle
>>97886102Looks tererible, but that's pretty much entirely due to a few easily fixable thing, the ork himself looks real good, and those wire bits once cut off will be real useful elsewhere.
Better or worse?
>>97886102Gonna agree with the general consensus of "eh". It's completely inoffensive, my main gripe is how the power lines are all arrayed so perfectly but by the looks of it, if they aren't already separate components on the sprue it will be dead easy to clip them and turn them so they are splayed out more erratically. Well, that and how overdone the tactical rocks are.
>>97886245Would look good as a mini-weirboy, reminiscent of the old scaling of psykers, mirroring the marines having 3 tiers of librarians
>>97886224As common as you want them to be. >Deathwatch >Grey Knights >Red Hunters >Exorcists maybe (Know enough about Daemons to roll with the Ordo Malleus?)
>>97886243>but le company made le thingI don't fucking care GW made it, what they've made since is dogshit. Why would I enjoy dogshit? This is the most "just consoom product and get excited for new product" cuck response there is.Kill yourself, cuck.

>>97886240There's absolutely zero justification for it lmaoEven with the extremely wide stance he would still fit on a 40mm if you removed the fucking retarded tactical rock
>>97886102lol they fucked up his hands, gj GW. Another Premium Jewel of Wonder.
>>97886234>$275Holy shit really? Guess I’ll just buy the marine half, I don’t particularly care about orks
>>97886256>Exorcists maybe Considering the Inquisition has sealed their creation and part of their initiation is daemonic possession and exorcism under the Inquisition's watch, it seem pretty evident they're associated with the Inquisition.
>>97886261What if basic weirdboyz were Ork sized, but different subtypes of weirdboyz had different sizes?
>>97886245Agreed, I'm cutting the lighting and a couple cables and I think he'll be a lot better
>>97886258I'm not telling you to consume itI'm telling you that if GW writes the aeldari as perpetual failures and losers, then liking them requires liking that writing for them. If you don't like it, then you don't like them as a faction, you like your headcanon and you're coping about how much you actually despise the faction.>>97886264>>97886265And when was the last time GW treated aeldari as anything more than losers and jobbers?
>>97886246It’s overdetailed in a worse way somehow
>>97886272Different types of weirdboy do not really need to exist mechanically
>>97886261Nob-sized is fineIf their powers give them an edge if any kind in the battlefield, then they should naturally be expected to survive and grow after all
I havent played 40k since 4th edition and I'm getting back into it. My local store only plays 1000 point games. Any tips for a fun Adeptus Sororitas list for this? This is what I've come up with so far: https://www.newrecruit.eu/app/list/vxRoYA friend gave me a ton of models so here's what I've got available to work with (and still build)Morvenn Vahl,4x Battle Sisters Squad boxes,2x Penitent ENgines boxes2x Repentia Squads1x Sororitas Rhino,1x Sister Dogmata2x Canoness,1x Novitiates Kill team1x new Combat patrol (the arco flagellants, sacresants, canoness and sisters are assembled to the combat patrol wargear)With the list I built there I'd only need to get Celestine. I figure with no supporting Paragon warsuits there's no reason to run the Morvenn Vahl. Celestine is better solo but I dont have any Sera/Zephyrim to run with her so still not that great but she's much more fun than just a random canoness being warlord. I could drop her and take another Canoness and a battle sisters squad I suppose. Any thoughts or can someone help me whip something up with these models that'll be fun for a new player?
>>97886278Do you only like your faction because GW gives you a reach around and strokes your cock lovingly while they show you new models for you to buy from them?
>>97886243>You can't be a fan of Dragon Age or Mass Effect if you don't like Veilguard and Andromeda>You can't be a fan Fallout if you don't like 76 and the TV series>You can't be a fan of Lord of the Rings if you don't like Rings of PowerHave you considered putting your head under the wheel of a tractor?
>>97886263What's wrong with artel w shit?
>>97886283What kind of retarded logic is that. 99% of 40k would not exist.

Reposting my game from Saturday that was inexplicably removed. Played Wolves into Ultras and lost because I stupidly did not use the Gladius detachment and once again my placements were poor and I went second again. I am going first next game for sure.

>>97886292No, that would be stupid, but I'm also not going to pretend I'm still a fan if I don't like how GW would write my faction.>>97886294Your argument fails because the modern writing for aeldari has remained the same for most of 40k's history. They've never been important, they've never been winners, and they've never done anyrhing significant besides help the Imperium occassionally. To make an equivalent to your argument, you would have read the first half of The Fellowship of the Ring, disliked the rest of Middle Earth, then made up a headcanon version which you then use to claim you are a fan of LotR.You're going through obscene mental gymnastics to claim you're a fan of a faction you're not really a fan of.

>>97886421The second one wasn't me, more than one person can disagree with your opinion narcissistbro
My collage project has shown me how fun freehanding isI need one more major heraldry element, right now I have demonic murals, red/white checkers, and the house heraldry (toads), but that leaves me one major part of the pattern undecided. it needs to be fairly light and less illustrative for the compoition to look nice. should I go with 1.chaos stars on a beige field2.orange firey chaos like in that blanche painting of the ship coming out of the warp3.something else
>>97886417Predators are playable in other chaos armies
>>97886417Don't make hasty decisions, if you don't know for sure then you shouldn't buy it.
>>97886429hot take but golden demons should be about painting not modeling. There can be a separate award for conversion work
>>97886436you did a really nice job with that shoulder piece, well done.
>>97886410Showcasing a range of good, midrange and shit paintjobs is one of GW's marketing strengths, honestly. If you go looking for painted examples of small games, you'll likely find one or two professional tier paintjobs and maybe one slopjob if you're lucky so it's hard to be inspired if you're not a competition winning painter.
