Krieg suicide and gas mask and shovel memes.
I think the Kriegers do want to die but not in vain for the Emperor. I'm not sure how all these theories spring up and spread about.

I think Forge World's guard side of their Imperial Armour books may be why there is "realism autism" among guard players that spread to the rest of 40k because FW dared to entertain the idea of vehicles that would make sense in 40k like recovery tanks and power lifter sentinels etc.
An unintended and unforeseen consequence of great ideas to be honest.

Was it basically a coin toss between Forge World being really terrible for the most part or being really good for the most part?

Granted FW did have some fumbles. In lore and resin quality but I think that is mostly GW's fault on the resin part.
My biggest gripe was FW's HH continuing the notion that the MK2 power armor helmet is in a fixed position when that is arguably the most ignored 30k/40k fluff "fact." I genuinely believe that it would be one of the few things where the grand majority of 40k fans across all places would not care if the fixed position of the MK2 helmet got retconned away.

The other big one was the upside down Space Wolf bolter.
>Pic related

Anybody got the screencap of anons reacting to the space wolf bolter and GW's poor defence of it, pretty please?

Even GW ignored the MkII helmet back in the day. 7e Armour Cards mention the suit had limited movement on the helmet and I'm positive I read in one of the black books that early MkII had fixed helmets.

>Even GW ignored the MkII helmet back in the day
I have a feeling that there will still be some die hard HH fans that will lose their minds if the MK2 fixed helm gets retconned away. I think it already is but just hasn't been confirmed in official writing.

I'm not gonna judge because my army is guard and we have our own rivet counting autism.

GW has been going around undoing anything Forge World did, like taros and betalis. The centaur literally just got retconned into being a half-track, so the original doesn't exist anymore. The atlas and other stuff are probably safe, until GW realizes they exist.
>>
>>97910283
>GW has been going around undoing anything Forge World did
What's the reason for why if they really are?
Maybe jealousy of FW doing great things? It genuinely puzzles me why GW would undo so much of FW's stuff as they should milk FW's stuff for money primarily. Which I think they are with HH and plastic Kriegers.
>like taros and betalis
How did they do it?
>The centaur literally just got retconned into being a half-track
This is copium and I won't hide it. I think the RSV "separates" it from the Centaur Carrier (forge world) and the Centaur AFV which I think is a White Dwarf conversion.
That said I see your point.

Don't the AFV designations after the mythological beast name signify some leeway to how they are different vehicles rather than a retconned vehicle redesigned and reimagined?

>Maybe jealousy of FW doing great things?
This is my belief, yes. It all happened after Alan Bligh died, and Forge World got reorganized into Specialist Games so they couldn't intrude on the "real" game again.
>taros and betalis
>How did they do it?
Taros was undone in Air War, where the glorious aircraft of the Imperium destroyed the inferior tau aircraft, and regained the planet. No need for ground forces. Betalis was undone in white dwarf, where the Imperium sent another army as the eldar were leaving, completely destroying the shadow spectres and their phoenix lord, thus preventing the perfidious aspect from ever spreading off world and consigning them to oblivion. Now you don't have to worry and can focus on buying REAL aspects!
>This is copium
I can concede that vehicles could share designation, but I know there will be people who will say "this is the only REAL centaur" and they're the same ones who won't let me use my krieg centaur because it got legend'd. I admit I didn't know about the 4wheel centaur, which I guess evolved into the Hippogriff.

>>97910367
Yes the 3 letters after the word Centaur can make a big difference.
It may have been GW throwing a bone to those who enjoyed the previous centaur models to signify they are not totally invalidated.
But the chances of that being true are very small.
I don't hate the new centaur. I like it. I just prefer tanks over wheeled vehicles.
I also like the Taurox's 4 treads that a lot of hobbyists replaced with wheels when they could.

To me it all comes to the current rebranding that's going on when it comes to FW. They are erasing everything to go under the "Warhammer (tm)" umbrella. FW was a acquired company getting absorbed like Citadel.

Getting into 10th after years away. Am I understanding vehicles and knights and monsters correctly?
>small foot soldiers charge knight or monster
>if the knight or monster moves it counts as retreating and can't shoot?
>if it doesn't move, it is -1 to shoot everything but can't shoot the engagement range models?

I do not understand the thinking with this. Am I missing some stratagem or something because this seems so awkward to me that a tank or walking war machine would care and could just move backwards and shoot like normal.

You can shoot the models within engagement range, you just still have the -1. The one caveat is you can't shoot blast weapons into the melee you're a part of. It is indeed a bit shitty that you can't have the vehicle fall back from combat and then shoot.

>Crucible of Champions makes kitbashing legal

If the rules are good, shouldn't they be allowed in tournaments? The only reason to disallow a rule or set of rules is because they're shitty rules. Why pay GW for shitty rules though? We can make up shitty rules ourselves.
>>

>go back and look at the Imperial Armor books before the heresy
I don't have the PDFs :( I want them. All of them. Even the masterclass painting guides.
>Now look at how sanguinary guard were treated in heresy 1.0
ForgeWorld's greatest strength to me was fluff and model design. I wonder if the high price was to prevent the models from being too common.
>FW treated any historical period worse
Any examples comparing FW to GW directly?
>they were extremely territorial
Kind of like how GW likes to keep HH and 40k model usage separate with rare exceptions like the Custodes?
Sorry I'll admit I primarily like FW for their designs and somehow making the HH cool, but I think that was mostly Alan Bligh's magic that carried FW.
>>
>>97910491
Thanks. I guess I should be happy it's just -1, but man it feels so pathetic the 80 foot tall death machine can't move back 10 feet and not shit its pants. But also my other monsters or vehicles can shoot at -1 into that fight as well? Trying to learn it so I don't flub letting chaff get too close when it can completely screws a big guy over.
>>
>>97910568
>The only reason to disallow a rule or set of rules is because they're shitty rules
No, the only reason to disallow them is if they are perceived as "unbalanced". Many a game both traditional and vidya was ruined by competitive players crying about what is "fair".
>>
>>97910568
>Crucible of Champions makes kitbashing legal
>but not for tournaments
A cruel tug of war between GW trying to appeal to both the casual wargaming scene and waacfag tournament autists.

Honestly I'd hate being a rules writer for GW. Everything scrutinized and then autists picking apart everything and then having to rush out FAQs.
No wonder GW just says a Warhammer team is about the rules if I remember correctly.
>>
>>97910479
You know how everyone says Admech and Genestealer Cults are super expensive and that's part of why they're not popular? Deathwatch, when made wysiwig, is by far the most expensive Army in the game because you need to put two or more kits together for every unit.
>>
>>97910579
The Crucible of Champions rules are surprisingly tame with only a few broken outliers from what I've seen. I have also seen a couple community-made patch lists fixing up or expanding the rules to make them more fair and more comprehensive for all the armies.

Leman was the one that started the fight with a sucker punch, the Lion was merely returning the greeting and Russ wasn't strong enough to take it.

I'm a Dark Angels fanboy, didn't mean it to come off as the Lion being the only bad one. Yes, Russ wouldn't shut the hell up and caused the whole thing. Still funny it was literal days of back and forth punches and fighting while their sons cheered. The Lion could have kept beating Russ but walked away after he was knocked out. You know Russ would have paraded an unconscious Lion and mocked him.

>why are TS so unpopular
I don't collect chaff I have a bunch of CSM stuff, got myself the RGB models for the cult flavor, then got a little extra something something on top of that. Tzeentch marines (exalted sorcs, master, terminators, robots) were the easiest to quickly catch em all while Khorne and DG have a bunch of extra shit I have yet to acquire. EC I had a plan and basically got some noise marines+used an amazon visa giftcard for the combat patrol+got a kakophonist for 70% off.

Tranny sons came out in 2016, never got the BIG releases that DG subsequently got 2 years later and WE is from 2023 and EC from 2025 and newer than the other two lines. WE got 2 new kits in 2025 as well. Continuous support and updates for DG keep them fresh. TS was already a handmedown army of tzaangors and shit, uninspired, and there is no autist at gw pushing them along or have new enough units to inspire love.

The sekhmet robot is a new thing but it's also a pity model. The goremongers themselves are a shame because do the WE really need a stronger version of jakhals, which are just cultists? What does that do for them? You could have instead released a kill team for TS, but GW is afraid to give them roles or specializations or create some kind of new rubrics that use khopeshes because of that one retard who keeps crying that it's a bad idea so they sit in development limbo while WE continue to get releases along the Daemonkin vein and EC will likely get a Sonic hellbrute and Death Guard with get more named characters. TS alone just keeps sucking.

I wanted to do a hybrid of Irown Warriors and Word Bearers. Had IW base painted, went with the dark red which easily covered most of the silver. Thought to myself "oh, didn't think this through". After some thought I tried to use the flash gitz yellow to attempt hazard stripes but that was too thick. I then thought "fuck it, warp taint? It sorta looks like the fire in Word Bearers icons anyway" so I splashed that everywhere (was not expecting that much on the back of the Rhino). After that I slathered nuln oil and all but the thickest yellow spots got chalky, kind of sucks but then I figured "maybe a corrosion effect? It's the warp, why not? Green was used on the heads, weapons, and loinclothes. The green was going to be sorta Night Lords lightning since they're my third favorite legion, but chalky yellow bits stopped that plan. Finally blood paint for everything spiky and the melee weapons (and treads for the vehicles).

EC are a new range with lots of new (2025) releases that are sleek and most importantly they have a very defined, Chaos Marine centric roster with a very obvious direction for expansion (vehicles). In fact Rhinos and Chaos Land raiders already come with Dirge Sirens so GW just has to include RULES for them to allow EC to specifically use them, the only thing they truly need besides that is a Sonic Helbrute.

I’m not the best at painting either, but just some advice. think of a main color and secondary color, and go with it. as an example, you said you wanted a IW and WB hybrid? go with copper/bronze, it gives off an ancient tribal cult vibe while also being metallic. the secondary will be used for the trim, and can be dark red to stay true to the WB. there is also black, brown* and silver which will be used for any details that you think might blend in too much with your two main colors.
that’s just an example, but just think up two main colors before jumping in and keep black, brown* and silver in reserve. here are my models, and although they aren’t particularly good, they still have a primary color (blue) and secondary color (green) with black, brown, and silver used wherever necessary, and a few other colors used sparingly for details that needed a distinct color.
*browns should only be used for belts and pouches if you think black won’t do.

most importantly, DO NOT fuck with hazard stripes or lightning bolts, when you’re this level of beginner its way too easy to fuck up, and you can always experiment later on with new models when you feel more confident.
also, only paint them 1-5 dudes at a time, so you can focus on getting every detail needed. painting them in an assembly line results in sloppy work and burn out.

good luck, anon, and even if you’re currently getting verbally abused right now, still don’t be afraid to post models to show progress and most importantly don’t be afraid to improve.

With Chaos, go Black Legion to start. Then branch out from there. Lore wise, whatever direction you decide to go, it fits. Iron Warriors? They work woth Black Legion. Word Bearers? Same. Any Chaos legion or warband can be on the same side of a battle as the Black Legion.

Anon, On your next models try priming with like a matte red before doing the yellow, then paint the green bits independently (yellow or grey primer) before glueing them onto the minis.

That'd help your yellow consistentcy a lot, which would then make your maroon details and everything else work a lot better.

Use smaller brush strokes I guess?
>>
>>97910955
I recommend maybe painting the default color scheme before trying your own. It's important to learn the fundamentals and the rules before you can break and bend them to fit your vision. Yellow Red and Green all together are a big fucking mess, especially with the shades of Red/Green you chose. Lean into two of the three and get rid of the third. Red with Yellow Trim is basically just Word Bearers/World Eaters, but Green with yellow trim might be cool.

Okay, assuming this isn't actually an elaborate troll, I'll try to help you out. You fucked up pretty bad on these but the good news is you're not out any money - since you painted them with no primer you can leave them in a bucket of Simple Green or other cleaner (look them up before buying, simple green is one I know works but you might not have it in your area) for a few hours/overnight and it should all come off with light brushing with a toothbrush or other scrubber.

While you're waiting for that, please invest in some more appropriate brushes. The ones you posted are a little big but you don't have to go crazy buying name brand for your first real set, just grab a cheap set of miniature paint brushes off Amazon. After that, get a spray can primer (probably white or yellow if you intend to keep painting your guys yellow) and look up Duncan Rhodes on YouTube. He does excellent tutorials aimed at beginners that will help you understand how to prime a model, thin your paints to the right consistency and how to apply paint and handle your brushes. I genuinely mean this - you're gonna wanna watch as many tutorial videos as you can before you pick up a brush again. Try to look up stuff that's similar to what you're going for.

I cannot believe how much of an actual cocksucker you are. Your models aren't just bad, you're also an insufferable person.
>post objectively terrible models
>some people give you legitimate advice
>ignore ALL of it and just pat yourself on the back to the few anons who said nice things to you out of pity
>"Three people said they looked nice, and a hundred told me my models were the worst they'd ever seen. I think I did a pretty good job."
Actually now that I think about it, this is autism. Severe, crippling autism. This is what Chris-chan did: paint terribly, awfully, and never ever ever once consider "improvement" even a possibility. Self-reflection isn't even a concept autists like you can comprehend.

You are just some massively autistic creature so mentally disabled you ignore any and all criticism or advice and just plow through life blind to your failures like a four year old who can't even see over the wheel of a steamroller.

does getting bored easily count as having ADHD? I'm talking like work, 15 seconds later check my phone, then work then 15 seconds later I need to check my phone again.
I can actually sit still and paint for hours if it's on something I actually wanna paint so I don't think I really have trouble focusing. I may just bore easily.

ADHD meds help me focus on things. Not just basic tasks, but smells, colors and memories.
First time I took the meds I realized that I lacked the ability to differentiate between the colors of my cat's fur. I knew the cat was a blur of brown, white and grey, but my brain couldn't remember which parts were which without looking at the cat.
The same was true of basic tasks. I knew the ingredients of scrambled eggs for example, but if you asked me to cook scrambled eggs, it would require fifteen minutes on google to connect the dots.
I wouldn't be able to function as a basic bitch human being without them.
The meds made me more confident too. No more anxiety or doubt because I can structure my thoughts quick and easy. Today I decided to start a berry garden, and tomorrow I'm getting all the shit I need to do these things, because I made a plan and now know how to follow through.
This isn't medical advice by the way. Your mileage may vary.
>Do you go all in building a new army, or do you just buy random sets here and there and paint them? Do you buy sets that you don't even intend to use in an army?

The setting makes more sense when the greatness of the past isn't used to undermine the qualities of the present, the present has to be the violent climax of multiple factions, making them all monstrous shadows of their former selves in their respective golden ages is very different from saying that they are inferior in every single aspect (numbers, power, spread) other than culture and tech.
The second case undermines this climax and why the setting focuses on this period instead of another.

>>
>>97912571
Hmm that's a good point anon. I don't think I was implying that the Imperium inM41/42 was inferior to the past. I think the opposite that the Imperium could afford to lose space marines at a larger scale than the Heresy 2 thousand years later. The Imperium is a shadow of itself and the Emperors vision (whatever it was it is truly lost in M41/2) not just because of the Heresy but because of all the choices the Imperium has made since in the last ten thousand years. Its also far more violent, religious extremist in character and militarised than it has ever been in the past, and thus these things show the decline in the Imperium

The point of the footnote, other than being cool world buidling fluff, is too show the Imperiums propoganda and censorship regime is so good something WORSE THAN THE HERESY can be covered up and forgotten. It's a throw away line that to me invoked 1984 and how information in universe is so censored wars of huge scale and cost to the imperium can be hidden.

Sounds like GW accountant apologia. I don’t give a fuck about which team gets what bonuses, maybe if GW paid their employees properly in the first place they wouldn’t be fucking up peoples’ factions like this.
>>
>>97912719
they don't release new factions in the first months of a new edition, anon
>>
>>97912714
They do when you add Harlequins, Corsairs, and Drukhari into the faction. Which you should, since GW already has them all in the same codex now anyway.
>>
>>97912741
deathguard were a new faction in 8th
>>
>>97912742
>Harlequins
>Corsairs
Not separate from regular Aeldari ownership, which is tied with the Tau.
>Dark Eldar
Genuinely Imperial Agents tier popularity.
>>
>>97912684
dont bother, its impossible to get through to imperiumfags
>>
>>97912747
if darkmech was to be the starter faction you would have a point
the reason why new factions aren't released in the first months of a new edition is because gw expects and wants the starter factions to draw as many purchases as possible so they stave off flashier stuff for later

>we're running out of legitimate factions to add to the game
What factions are reasonable to get at this point
>Darkmech
>Traitor guard
>Forge of Souls daemons
For Chaos
>Exodites
>Gretchen Revolutionary Comitee (maybe they have the little green man/greys with the communist aesthetic, maybe thats a different faction of gretchins)
>Xenos Mercs (for random xeno kill teams, like a xenos imperial agents)
>Harlequins come back as a faction
For xenos
>??
For the Imperium, whats left other than sub factions, they have to make up a another adeptus give-us-an-army with-a-different-aesthetic-for-humans

we can see popularity of factions
deldar are around the same level of popularity as Knights, BT and Sisters, literally 11 times as popular as agents

How do you store your paints, /40kg/? I have way too many to fit in the few racks I have, thinking of getting some sort of drawer system
>>
we don't need 4 flavors of pointy ears in space, i just refuse to believe someone would want that...
>>
I can see why gsc aren't very popular now, they are fucking hard to play

Slanni will come back eventually. GW keeps fleshing out factions that used to have models/are in lore. It's inevitable honestly
>For the Imperium, whats left other than sub factions, they have to make up a another adeptus give-us-an-army with-a-different-aesthetic-for-humans
Navis Nobilite army
>>
>>97912755
I can see them spinning off salamanders or whatever into their own "divergent chapter" faction. That or legion of the damned.
>>
>>97912765
We also don't need all of those different marine chapters and have them listed as separate armies
>>
>>97912765
Jes Eldar designs are utterly unique to 40k and iconic, GW will milk their own actual creativity, why shouldn't they?
>Dinosaurs with laser weapons and bionics is bad because space elves ride them
>>
>>97912755
Making a grot spin off army is a little silly desu, it should just be an ork detachment
>>
>>97912774
Marines are the bread and butter of this setting anon what the fuck are you talking about? Marines alone keep your game alive.
>>
>>97912771
>Slanni
Maybe, but it seems they have firmly decided magic frogs are for AoS not 40k
>Navis Nobilite army
I thought they were just a series of different, massive in size and very powerful clans and families. They don't have their own standing army loyal to them do they?

Elves being popular is not something uncommon
It's normal for them to come in multiple flavors in every setting
>>
>>97912780
A different colour scheme is fine, we dont need a dozen codexes for the same army, that's fucking stupid
>>
>>97912777
for you maybe, grots don't only have charisma and are funny they already showed in fantasy they would be awesome on board.

According to Valrak, 11th Edition's first few codices have leaked

>Orks and Space Marines first
>Custodes next, they're not actually getting much but the new HH stuff is going to be the new 40k models. They're getting rid of most of the old stuff and FW stuff
>Then Tau with mini range refresh for Broadsides and Crisis Suits. Small number of kits but big parts of the army
>Deldar are getting the last codex of 2026, vect is leading them
