I think grandeur is dumb as a fuck and unusable in Cdr. without some cloning/regrowth/reanimation/bouncing fuckery and was a horrible way to try giving black real land ramp instead of just giving them a regular card to do itand its even dumber as executed in this new "totally not Harry Potter for queers" set

>>97921881
>>97921881I'm not handling it over to you and statistically it's unlikely you could outmuscle me
>>97922290>>97922298>>97922324>felonyInterestingly, there's no actual US federal statutes on vandalism or criminal mischief for this context (federal law is generally only concerned with federal property, protected classes, interstate commerce, and terrorism). Therefore this means that felony escalation would need to occur at a state level. (No, WotC being run by jews does not qualify this as an antisemetic hate crime)States vary on the dollar value associated with an escalation from a misdemeanor to a felony. California for example allows the prosecutor to increase the misdemeanor to a felony at their discretion when the dollar value is above $400 (in practice, this will be very unlikely especially on a first offense unless you did something absurd like pulled out a gun for this which would have its own myriad of felonies involved). Now in the context we're just tearing up the first card we see, there's only about 40 Magic cards worth enough to meet this threshold, and of those, only 33 are currently legal.>But California's not a real state! Give me numbers from a REAL one not controlled by liberals!Okay in Texas (if you're about to argue some bullshit on CA migrants I will ask you to shut the fuck up this law hasn't been revised in years), vandalism can escalate to a non-discretionary felony, but this value starts far higher, beginning at $2500. At this threshold there's only three legal cards valued high enough to meet the felony threshold (Timetwister, Mishra's Workshop, and Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale). In fact, a large number of full decks would not meet the threshold to be considered a felony, or even a Class A misdemeanor. This means that for destroying someone's cards to be a felony, they would have to be expensive enough you're questioning why that person is going to the LGS in the first place with the real copies, given that the real threat is theft (or conversion at a civil level).
>>97922496I like how you think anyone bringing a timmy $400 bracket 2 deck to the lgs is beyond your comprehension
>>97922512Assuming you even get through their whole deck before someone stops you, it's extremely unlikely it will be prosecuted as a felony when the escalation is discretionary. I already covered this by stating there's basically no context a prosecutor does this on a first offense unless you committed another major felony in the process.
>>97922496Good effortpost, his trolling absolutely did not need to be addressed but you did it anyway, we need more autists like you in this thread and less people shitting and pissing over proxies (for or against).
>>97922521>Assuming you even get through their whole deck before someone stops you,>yeah it's extremely unlikely>but if your thought experiment that i'm too autistic to realize did happen, then you'd be rightI accept your resignation
>>97922539>we need more autistsWe actually need less mentally disabled people around here, ideally zero
>>97922570But then how would we hold a thread about MTG? Stop being ridiculous.
>>97922574Alas, therein lies the rub...
>>97922562It's extremely unlikely anyone would let you go through their entire deck, unsleeve each card (twice if it's really worth that much), and rip them up
>>97922562The amount of "if"s that need to occur for this to even be prosecuted as a felony, let alone convicted, render this situation functionally impossible. The only way this would happen is if you pulled out a gun and started shooting, at which point felony vandalism is going to be your last concern at trial and you should be thinking more about not looking like Tyrone's next prison girlfriend.
>>97922590Grok, what's a thought experiment
>try to make new deck>start to realize it looks way too similar to a deck I already use mechanically and/or thematic
>>97922618Aren't you excited to do the thing and draw the card?
>>97922649Nope, now I want do thing and target gain hexproof
>>97922618>realize that many decks boil down to the same archetypes, land fall/lands matter, storm/spell slinger, lifegain, pillowfort>don't see a point to making a new deck unless it's a new archetype>losing interest
>>97922849It's like with any knowledge based game, the honeymoon period is seeing all the options and getting to try them all out, with experience you start to realize how similar a lot of the options are and whittle them down to your favorites. It's not so bad, sometimes you just need a break to let new things accumulate.
>>97922849>>97922871Believe it or not UB is meant to address this because if you're going to build the same archetype over and over you might as well do it with (insert IP other than mtg that you really love)
>>97922905If UB wasn't a functional reserve list I'd like it more, but the fact that OOPS I missed the Warhammer decks so they're 200+$ now is retarded and it will never not be retarded.
>>97922907Unironically that's because the UB IP holds more value than the actual card text. The chance of, for example, Stormchaser's Talent getting reprinted is extremely low. WotC's reprint policy has always been beyond atrocious and it's honestly a miracle Swords to Plowshares didn't end up in the same realm as Demonic Tutor pricing.
>>97922849Favorite commander for each archetype? For me:>Spellslinger: Noyan Dar>Landfall: Karametra>Self-mill: Grist>Lifegain: Amalia>Aristocrats: Athreos>Blink: Ketramose>Artifacts: Teshar>Enchantress: Estrid>Counters: Kraj>Tribal: Varina>Aggro: Gix>Control: Kroxa
>>97922925Extremely low isn't the same as nonexistent though, and they have so far never reprinted UB as far as I am aware even though they SAY they can at any time. Stormchaser's Talent is 5$, even the BAD Warhammer cards fetch high prices. Uncommons like the Nazgul are 10+$ and ironically they may get a reprint in The Hobbit. It has nothing to do with "IP value" and everything to do with the fact that people buying UB know they'll never be undercut by more prints. It's why random mutant Fallout cards spiked in price during TMNT and why TMNT will unironically be an investment despite how shitty/poorly received the set is because it's never getting reprints. UB sucks for the customer, even gachas will sometimes rerun collabs.
>>97922939>even gachas will sometimes rerun collabs.UB Persona 5 when?
>>97921606>>97921582She is cute, but not as cute as Thalia, who I wish I could say was my beautiful freckled wife. She is so elegant and brave and so beautiful and pure. It still hurts knowing I'll never have her. I finally got a decent looking Asian girlfriend who lets me fuck her and calls me daddy, she loves my white dick, but I still think about Thalia. There's no way I could ever be good enough for her, no matter how fit I get. I wish I could be the one to marry her. I admit I've even had sexual fantasies about her, even though I've tried not to, imagining myself touching her alabaster flesh. I just want to hold her close. Thalia makes me actually want to live forever. I do not want death or decay to exist in the same world she does. Really I'm not even good enough even to die for her in battle, let alone be her husband, but it doesn't make the longing go away.
>>97922939It's not impossible that some UB cards can be reprinted - picrel is an Avatar card reprinted in Mystical Archive. but I agree that you're correct for the most part outside of a (unlikely) massive drop of Universes Within or Omenpaths-like reskins of the cards that are too tied to UB source material to reflavor with their original names and text.
>>97922939>and they have so far never reprinted UBthey reprinted Fallout cards in a Fallout Secret Lair.
>>97922939Believe or not having card prices go beyond the discretionary spending limit of the average single nerd is not to wotc's benefit (otherwise they would love the RL, the logical conclusion) proving that yes, wotc will reach out to FF *at some point* and it's up to squenix if they want it again or not>you just dont want to spend $20 for cardboard but are fine with spending that for something else, simple as
would you mind this shell in bracket 2 as a control deck?
>>97923158I mind because black is mean and wont let me do the thing aaaaaiiiiiiiieeeeee

Unironically I wish they had continued Universes Within and just made it part of bonus sheets instead of random Secret Lair drops.>>97922947They could just do a Persona set and include 1-5 and the popular personas and this set would sell so much it'd be unreal.
>>97922072There's a 3 card combo that allows you to discard the card to itself for Grandeur, you just have to be in Azorius colors
https://moxfield.com/decks/_wZZnA5200e1YfEDuOrmDAI'm back with the first draft of my bracket 2 war crimes simulator. R&, h&, and give suggestions on improvements if you have the time. I recently took out all the reanimation tricks (on the sideboard) in favor of a more robust draw and ramp suite, as well as a few protection pieces I can use instead of the commander's self-sacrifice.
>>97923240>It actually is to their benefit, because it guarantees sales based on FOMO their products would not otherwise have.Again that would imply that wotc actually likes the RL and will one day implement it again in the future, but good luck convincing anyone of that
>>97923264I think expressively having a list would put people off their game in general, doing it quietly is a different story. People (who aren't investors) already hate the RL, having it as a mandated rule would make people unironically dump this game or form yet another community format where RL cards are banned.
>>979231972WUB not 1
>>97922849That's why I have been making meme decks for my pod.
>>97923279They're not doing it "quietly", it just goes without saying that it takes two to collab so if the first venture was profitable then wotc would want to do it again at some point, because everyone knows UW characters suck dick>no i dont want uncertainty i want wotc to legally guarantee me they'll get a new collab with the UB i like in exactly X years!Sorry bud the world doesnt work that way
>>97923300Nice strawman, I'd just like a precedent set at all since according to WotC themselves, they have the legal right to reprint UB any time they want, it's part of the contract they make with the initial collab. They shouldn't need the other party's consent (they also are allowed to make UW versions of any card they want according to them, as long as they change the name).
>>97922148Happy for you anon. No homo
>>97923286I could see it given existing precedent.
>>97923315I'm talking about new collabs (like a new FF with advent children Cloud for example) but if you just want reprints then dont blame UB where's your outrage over Jumpstart reprints

>>97923261Resolute Reinforcements may be better than Fortress Kin-GuardHunter's Insight doesn't seem good for a go wide strategyThrone of Eldraine kinda doesn't fit in two color but I'm guessing you're running it for flavorI am not a fan of running a million mdfcs instead of lands but you do you. Same story with off color fetches when you have no land synergies.Flare of Cultivation could just be Cultivate? You have barely any nontoken green creature you'd want to sacrifice so you're paying GG in the cost for no reason.I am wary of having too many token doublers in one deckOverall I feel like you kinda lost sight of your original intention in favor of a bunch of expensive staples.
>>97923791Thanks for the feedback anon. You make good points and I will try to make another pass at this focusing more on the deck's cohesion with the commander's core abilities.
