I think playgroups who don't only play magic can self regulate. Weave in some other board games like terra mystica, hansa teutonica and good small games and players will understand the competive nature with an even but randomized playing field quite well. Pubstomping is such a ridiculous mindset but the game is developed in a way that encourages it sadly. I also don't think other 60 card formats are good or accessible enough to color edh properly for the average player. Premodern being vastly superior to anything they've had in decades shows this. Draft should bridge this gap but there are too many cards and a good 3/4 of any standard set is unplayable to the edhrec poisoned mind of the current playerbase. Release cadence(fuck how much they love this word) is what has really killed the game.There's also a discussion to be had for small vs large stores and how you develop a community that I'm not going to get into.
