runtherd character that can be attached to boyz or grots.
the ork side is also missing an elite unit, so I’d say some refreshed nobz or stormboyz which would be to an orky mirror to the eradicators and vanguard vets would be good.
don’t know much about space marines, but I think they could have done well with a refreshed rhino that would give a good tanky set piece like the orks dakkarig.

Repostan.

R8 my shit + what would improve primaris marines / what's something you'd like to see for marines?

I don't want to spam so outside of a few more edits/cleaning up I won't repost much if any.

Gave him the bolt carbine again and modified the abdomen cable protection. Opinions welcome.

The Wraithlord holding the helmet is an extra burn
>>
>>97987662
I’m not sure if that’s meant to be sarcastic because its still a step down from the current boyz kit, but I do like it as well for a new GW kit. I hope that whenever the boyz are fully released they’ll have even more options.
>>
>>97987636
I like grots
And i would have added a grot vehicle, the mek thing is weird.
>>
>>97987662
It better be since that's the multipart one. So heads can be swapped around, legs too? Big news if legs can be swapped around, maybe GW is listening. Maybe.

Looking at the sprues on the stream it seems some arms are locked to certain torsos, but still got some stuff to swap around. Gonna wait to see the sprues first hand, bro is getting the box.
>>
There is no way to make 40k work at a smaller game size with minimal terrain like spearhead. Weapon ranges and the deadliness of units just make it impossible to play a quick game on a small board. Even fixed lists can't solve this.
>>
>>97987629
You misunderstood my point Anon. I'm all for Combat Patrol and I would love to see it expanded and supported properly like Spearhead. My point is, it's hardly any surprising that GW scrapped the idea not because it was bad, but because GW tends to give us good shit only to make it gone with the next edition.
>>

Put Dark Eldar in it instead of the Space Marines
>>
>>97987679
Its a step up from previous push-fit kits, and a massive one at that. That said, i hope they will release a proper "new" box of boys eventually, and not just put this sprue in a box to sell individually.

Case in point to both of you: Boarding Actions/Boarding Patrol is a phenomenal game mode with excellent play and replayability and remarkably balanced with some army customization options and no fixed lists. The biggest problem though is it takes a ton of terrain (which you can easily make yourself) but also GW just dropped support for it entirely until half way through the current edition and then suddenly remembered what they had.

It's better than the shitty nu boyz we got, and modular is good, but it's indeed not as good as it could & should be on that front.

>separate boyz kit
As other anons pointed out the nids & crons didn't get a new kit compared to the starter box, so I'd say expect the kit to be packaged with an extra sprue with some wepaons/options. This means the kit won't be just boyz, but 10 boyz + 5 grots

>its still a step down from the current boyz kit
I see where you're coming from but I can't agree. The old kit had flat arm joints that did let you mix and matcha arms but meant the poses were incredibly samey and restricted and the joints themselves looked really awkward. Not having to bother with those joints allows better poses and more varied designs for the bodies. Also this is a trade for legs and upper bodies being interchangeable now when the old kit had the bodies as a single piece.
>I hope that whenever the boyz are fully released they’ll have even more options.
There's evidence to believe the standalone kit will be this plus an extra sprue with the special guns and a few more bits, probably a klaw for the nob too. Plus you get 5 gretchin for every 10 boyz like scarabs with necron warriors or ripper swarms with gants.
>>97987682
This is the ETB one from the new starter but with that much modularity it's 100% also gonna be the standalone kit. From what I can tell heads, upper bodies and legs are all interchangeable with each other so even if there's just 10 designs for each part in the box that's 4060 possible combinations before repeating a single model (of course in practice many of those combinations only differ by a single piece but still that's a lot of boyz before you can see a pattern).
>>97987706
They still have the gorilla pose since that's just how orks look but it's not quite as pronounced.
>>
>>97987662
I still dont like the faces, not sure if its the sculpts or the way they're painted

It's just too fucking long and ruins the proportions boltguns have always had. Bolt carbines actually look like a modern boltgun pattern but they are still considered a separate weapon because GW is fucking dumb.

it's quite obvious when it happens. kroot on a newt™, ork on squigosaur, new ordo xenos inquisitor, many such cases
>>
>>97987750
The one in the edit is carbine length & proportions, that's why the scroll is scuffed. I did want to go with a classical marine look, so I hope you enjoy it.
>>
>>97987765
I would also remove the rubber part of the torso since marines never had those but with the classic looking abdomen plate it looks much better already.
>>
>>97987764
Wew the AoS boogeyman really mindbroke you
>>
>>97987768
The original marine abdomen is pretty much a very short cylinder, so it shouldn't be too hard to do. I might try it next time, shouldn't be hard on the edit either.
I'm glad to hear the classic plate looks good, it shouldn't be hard to reproduce either.

Thank you for the replies

I'm not asking about the competitive balance so ignore this part of Codexes. I want to know your opinion based on the quality of core rules, extra content (narrative books, spin-off game modes), narrative rules (Crusade part of codexes), gameplay and list-building changes (axing of PPM in favour of not-Power Levels) etc.

These plasma boys held off DG terminators from the entire table quarter all game. Then they blew themselves up trying to kill Mortarion and got a battle scar like the retards they are. 9th was so much better than this. 40k instantly failed at its self-stated goals (less lethal, quicker games), had levels of marine focus we haven't seen for a decade and completed the removal of all choice, fluff and fun in army list building that's been going on for years. The one morsel of praise I can give it is 10th Crusade rules were marginally better than 9th ones.

It is shocking to me GW managed to both release an edition that felt undercooked and rushed out on release, and completely failed to develop that edition in any interesting way for the entirety of its lifespan and mostly appeared lazy with it. They work on a 3 year cycle and they can't even keep time.
>>
>>97987804
10th was just worse over all. It did good things, but all the bad things
>gutting wargear on like 50% of units and removing options
>fucked the rest of the units with free(forced) wargear that ruined any sort of internal balance
>removing psychic phase
>removing PPM and replacing it with reskinned power levels, a system nobody likes
>weapon keywords that the writers clearly can't figure out how to balance
>useless bloat by giving EVERY unit its own special rule ability, instead of just using universal special rules for few select units
>worst of all removed flavor even more from the game by removing relics, warlord traits, etc.
All of this outweighs all the potential good things 10th did.
>>
>>97987863
>The one morsel of praise I can give it is 10th Crusade rules were marginally better than 9th ones.

The new Tau lore says that the unlocked Warp travel. Even after the Fourth Sphere disaster they still use the new Warp drives but on small fleets until they figure out a way to use them on a large scale for massive fleets.

>>
>>97988133
IIRC Tau have very powerful sublight engines, a Warp engine which 'skims' the Warp, not fully immersing the ship, and therefore allows for relatively safe but slower FTL, and a new Warp engine reverse-engineered from Kroot and Imperial technology which creates some kind of antimatter bubble that gives them partial protection from the Warp (like the ship travels within the Warp itself within a bubble). This last one works and is fast but is not that safe, hence all the problems with the Fourth Sphere expansion. It seems to be safe enough for the Tau themselves who are minimally warp reactive, but not for human or most alien auxilliaries.
>>

I don't care about the new lore. Warhammer is a setting for me, not an ongoing story. I have no interest in GW raising stakes only to push everything back to the status quo. I can enjoy the same thing without [CHARACTER OF THE MONTH] interacting with [PLACE YOU KNOW] while searching for an [EASTER EGG MACGUFFIN]. I'm still enjoying the pre-Gathering Storm setting and only get interested in modern stories that have nothing to do with the main "plot".

>scraping off the imperialis and replacing it with aquilas and skulls (:O)

Marines were naturally mismatched for a long, long time, of virtue that not only were the kits highly customizable (pick a leg, torso, arms, head, etc.) but also actually came with a lot of bits. The current tactical squad comes with enough bits for 2x mk6 suits, has a mk5 chest and mk4 legs, for instance, while other kits like the sternguards had enought to make a full mk4 suit.

It was just normal back then.
Picrel are vanguard vets, you can see some mismatch pauldrons for instance, and that's just official material.

There's no way, I think it's already a minor design wonder that they managed to make the alt builds for these dynamic poses work by pulling in parts from the entire spree, I'm just hoping that they managed to keep heads 100% interchangeable.

>the myth of orks=green died with warcraft

Besides the irrelevance of an entirely different setting stealing what was previously a completely unique aspect of warhammer orcs and goblins from other fantasy settings and then changing their mind, you're a lorelet on the grounds of taking the most fundamentally factual statement for orks and mistaking it for a conventional one. "Ork = Green" is a literal truth for orks, in an actual *literal* sense, meaning they don't have two separate words for those concepts. When an ork says, "green is best" or "orks is best" in orkish, it is the same sentence. Orks and green are not synonyms in orkish, they are the exact same word.

>quit having a stick up your ass and let people paint their minis how they want

Not saying that, but if you are painting your orks anything but green (and there's plenty of room for creativity there as has already been demonstrated by some examples posted) you better have an interesting explanation.

Best I could do with mine is what an anon described as "he looks like he’s bending over so that the futa mechanicus can take a look into his prostate and fill his coffin full of cum".
I like him and it did great in the couple games I played him in but I still need to finish painting him.

Anyone have news on when the combat patrol-into-spearhead rework willl happen?
I realized I'm just never going to play a full 2k game again because I don't want as many models as required. A shitload of one boxes from each faction sounds better.
>>
>>97988586
There's no rework, they just removed it.
>>
>>97988340
That it got immediately reverted shows how much the beancounters hated it no?
>>
>>97988621
It just shows how 10th was designed to be the worst possible in every single way.
>>
>>97988384
I played shooting orks in 3rd and 4th edition. Its no unplayable. I swear my dice must have been weighted because I was always making my big shoots spam and KFF cover saves. Guys at the local GW liked playing against me so much they invited me to their D&D club.
>>
>>97988633
I keep seeing posts in this general shitting on 10th and saying things like "I'll never play 10th, I stopped playing when 10th released" etc,
but then I play the game and it's fine/fun? What gives?
>>
>>97988586
I imagine they would just have Boarding Actions replace it
>>
>>97988645
10th is playable. If you've only played 10th I can't blame you for thinking it's fine. But the moment you know how the rules were in other editions you'll realize how much they've stripped down and how many problems that causes.
>>
>>97988645
I'm still salty about wargear no longer costing points. Back in 7th I ran a very effective Marine army that verged on hoard army levels of infantry because I didnt spend 20-30pts of war gear options on all my Sargents and back then a 3+ Armour save meant something.
>>
>>97988653
So it's not just shitposting?

>>
>>97988657
No, when we say 10th sucks we're not joking. We're lamenting they are turning the game into this and GW's answer is to double down instead of backtrack.
>>
>>97988657
No. Far from it.
>>
>>97988656

>>
>>97988645
People didn’t like 10th because simplified not simple stripped a lot of flavor from the game but kept it complex in ways that weren’t necessarily fun. Though with how little the average person actually plays games, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the complaints were people just parroting complaints they heard elsewhere, but that doesn’t make 10th without flaws.

True but I'm also a fan of the oldschool kits because they blend together well; they are similar enough that they make cohesive armies and don't distract from being units/mobs, but also have enough variation that it's not 20x the same model that just got a different gun. It's extra important for armies that are not fully encased in armor or wearing uniforms.

as long as there's a tiny bit of yellow in your blue, or a tiny bit of blue in your yellow, you can have good greenskins in a lot of skintones from what's practically pale cold white to brownish dark green.

the red-purple spectrum is where the greenskin magic fades so you can only make orks in those colours by invoking a different element, such as chaos or alien taint

Genuinely, serious talk, pretend we're not on 4chan rn. Get a fucking life. I don't care about your lolcownigger friend. It's not even about the thread shitting anymore, it's about how downright disgusting and pathetic this all is. You, and others, are spending hours of your day doing shitty bait on an internet forum. Do you really have nothing better to do with your time? It's a 40k thread, why don't you go and actually do 40k? Why don't you paint or go play. Are you at work? Do you have nothing better to do at work than go to 4chan to shitpost?

I'm tired of this shit. How the fuck is this fun? How the fuck do you get anything or riling or even pretending to rile up some autistic retard? Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart: what the fuck is wrong with you fucks?

Using my completely unbiased taste, I have ranked each model from this months' collage accordingly as so:
>Green - Painted leagues better than the mutant
>Yellow - Painted better than the mutant
>Red - Painted on par or slightly better than the mutant
>Blue - Painted worse than the mutant.

Warp Talons have the Daemon keyword, but just look like dudes.
Meanwhile Raptors don't have the Daemon keyword, but one of them can take the "mutations" weapon option and look like this guy.
Make it make sense.

If you really like old kits and don't mind the older quality, get the current kits. Otherwise wait or print, there are a lot of good 3rd party grey knights out there
>>

Why would warp talons be gone
>>
>>97989295
They're not
GW has taken the Raptors/Warp Talons kit off the website so you can't buy them right now, but that's just because they're replacing that kit with the kit from the Murderwing Killteam

>Faction Focus articles starting tomorrow
Are they really changing enough about any of the factions for this to really matter outside of Orks and Marines? Like what, are they just going to review their current Codexes and show a couple new Detachment rule previews for their 1 point Detachments?

It does seem like the ork buildings are similar to middle eastern buildings, but I would rather point at medieval/fantasy middle east. I'm sure there are other influences like westerns. Isn't there similar houses in western movies? Would make sense with the catcus and desert theme of Gorkamorka.
>>
>>97989314
Detroit. If you pop up in an ork settlement you'll likely be taken to the biggest and meanest ork, out of fear that the ork krumping you gets krumped himself for not checking in with his boss.

>>
>>97989209
GW will butcher the Grey Knight designs and fluff, just to sell people expensive kits with less options than the Strike Squad and Terminator boxes. Truly depressing to consider.
>>
>>97989310
Besides showcasing new detachments, I expect they will also use each faction's playstyle to highlight some more core rule changes, core stratagems, etc.
