>>98002865Absolutely based pic, love VC so much. Imagine if that castle was floating? Would be so sick hehe
>>98002865>TQHochland. As for why, Hochland drip is immaculate.
>>98002865>Which Empire province is your favorite and why?I quite like Ostland personally. They have a cool scheme and heraldry, their Mordheim rules for fielding a family of slav moonshiners are fun and their elector count has an impressive hat.
For the rpg players, I'm trying to figure out what modifiers an elf might have for disguising his race in 4e. The edition uses both 'regular' tolkien esque elves and the bizarre podpeople from zeta reticuli in the art, and doesn't mentions both in text in places. The height and build is an easy -1 to SL, but would that be enough? Presumably a change of clothes and wearing his hair over his ears wouldn't do the job but I'm torn on what to rule here.
Are the current Squig Herd and Squig Riders that GW sell from WHFB or were they made for AoS? Squig Hoppers have the markings of a newer kit, but apparently the Stabbas are an older kit and have generally the same style. Want to know if they “intuitively” would go on squares or not.
>>98003288They were made for Aos but the updated base size for tow lets them fit on their respective bases.
>>98003288Pretty sure both are AoS, but done in the same style as the 7th edition Night Goblins.
>>98002865>TQHard pick, it's mostly between:>stirland: my favorite color scheme and I like playing the weirdos, painted my merc warband in mordheim as them>nuln: guns and swords are what's cool about the Empire and they have both in spades>reikland: I like it from playing most of my RPG adventures there and it's the home of my boy Franz>ostland: probably my favorite, mix of germanic and slavic culture, cool paint scheme I play Dwarfs at the moment but I'd like to start an Ostland Empire army in a few months and print some Kislev allies for them.
>>98003294>>98003296I see. I wonder if they’ll ever do the old kit with the Goblin that moons you.
I’d like to personally thank James for preventing me from getting another army by removing half of the battalion boxes for a month with no communication, what an amazing company we buy from
>>98003478You'll be back, junkie.

>>98003478Those boxes are still available from third party sellers
>>98003094As in, trying to pass off as human? I think it'd be very difficult unless you come up with a reason to have a full body and head disguise.
Continuing my question >>98000693 about selecting your spells>>98000726>>98000863So for a level 2 High Elf Mage using "Illusion" spells (and has Lore of Saphery special rule).Instead of generating them randomly I can choose to pick "Glittering Robe" (Illusion Signature Spell) + "Hand of Khaine" (Lore of Saphery Signature Spell) for his 2 spells ?
>>98002865TQ: never thought about it since empire is irrelevant in TOW.
>>98003805who's her ruling ancestor in the TOW era?
>>98003851Shouldn't it be a Von Blindhofen since Magnus was related to the ruling family of Nuln?
>>98003941Not according to TOW transfers.
Managed to get a bonegrinder giant, unbuilt, for pretty cheap. It is a really cool model in my opinion. Now I hope one day I can score a colossal squig.
>>98003744I envy your ability to paint one dood at a time. I won't start until I have my entire completed Bretonnia collection prepped including all conversions done.>tfw dropped my tiny fleur de lys bit on the floor and it disappeared instantly
>>98000609>>98001688Done.
>>98003985This actually turned out quite good. I was expecting it to suck shit. What was this duel from again, one of Gilles' Companion's battles against a Chaos Marauder lord?
>>98003950>GW>knowing its own background>not rewriting its own lore on a daily basiskek
>>98003999Pretty sure not tossing out the one liked Nuln character('s family line) was a calculated decision
>>98003993Thanks, I also though it went better that I'd expect. This duel comes from the 6th ed. Armybook, where the first Duke of Bordeleaux, and Companion of Gilles, defeats Svengar of the Skaelings.
>>98004006Maybe they want to do something new with Magnus? All we really know about him in canon so far is he grabbed Genevieve by the pussy and shitstomped Chaos. I'm just happy GW woke the fuck up and realized TOW is deserving of actual effort and attention, so no more Lords of the Lance and Bretonnians/Empire men in blackface from the D team nose-ringed interns. Hopefully the sales trends continue, but considering the beancounters and the AoStrannies are holding half our best-selling armies hostage, who knows.
>>98004028i think the 5th edition WFB Empire book had a full write-up on him, so we do know quite a bit, and that's excluding all the random WFRP snippit like him sneaking into Middenheim and going into the big fire in the temple of Ulric unscathed
>>98002865>TQReiklandIt's the basic bitch choice, sure, but I love the metropolitan heartland feel and they have some of my favorite locations in the setting.
>>98003851According to RPG her father and her great-grandfather (100 years ago) were already leader of Nuln.
>>98004068TOW is set 300 years before WFB they really shoulden't be the leaders of Nuln at this point
>>98003094Personally I quite like the elves with full sclera eyes and slightly lanky features so that's what I'd go with, but I don't really think there's ever been a hard ruling on this so just do whatever fits your game. But with the fucked up elves I think unless you go full scarlet pimpernel it's going to be hard to hide their features. Maybe disguising them as a leper or similar could also work? Another thing to keep in mind is that Old Worlders are generally suspicious of weirdoes, but also quite naive and ill travelled, very few Empire men have seen a Bretonnian, let alone an elf. But also unlike our world where a 2m20 freak with blank eyes would immediately stand out to everyone, the Empire is full of freaks and mutants of various kinds. So a lot of the disguise should come down to the elf and his team mates being able to convincingly sell his human impression."That's Tall Hans that it is, he used to be one of the finest archers in Hochland, before an evil witch cursed his eyes. Why yes all Hochlanders are at least 6 feet tall have you never visited? It's in the name you know." would generally be how I would approach this.>>98003985wtf that actually came out perfect, very cool stuff.
>>98002865>TQOStermark, because I like the paint scheme. And Mark of Chaos was a fun game. Now, if only GW released a decent kit for State Troops instead of those peasant monkeys from 7th. :/
>>98004028>but considering the beancounters and the AoStrannies are holding half our best-selling armies hostageThe only army that this really applies to is VC

>>98003644>>98003672What does this even mean
>>98004395I said I liked the shape of the castle and road leading up to it, but not the details on the castle, which look sloppy, then AIRT called me fat and gay, winning the argument
>>98004431Which detail is fucked?
>>98004189This is you making things to be problems because you want them to be a problem for you.
>>98003478Just buy models from frens anon- I'm getting 2500 points of ogres Saturday from a buddy because he's rage quitting the faction after a game last weekend where his 500 point tyrant whiffed a leadership test & got cut down & his cannon blew up on him all on turn one.
>>98004509I couldn't imagine the kind of mentality you need to have to ragequit from 2500pts of models because of one turn of the game.
>>98004515Likely the same one that causes them to buy toys in the first place and not pick up a real hobby like learning how to draw or make music.
>>98004529Can't be, because I can imagine the mentality of the person who picks up collecting and painting models, and that's definitely not the one of someone who would dump them on a whim
>>98004515I think it was just the straw that broke the camel's back- he's got three other armies besides them so he was spreading himself out a bit thin and wanted an excuse to get rid of one to focus on the other 3
>>98004189I thought we were talking about best-selling armies?
>>98004529I like how you were forced to say draw there instead of paint because then you'd be forced to concede this is a real hobby after all so long as you focus on that aspect of it.
>>98004092Yeah, I think I'll just do split the difference between normal and super deformed. That weirdly attractive person you see on the train one day who seems to be very slightly phased out of reality rather than Laura Loomer. Call it a -2SL, with disguises without gear being wearing your hair forward and avoiding that elfy glide and a disguise kit involving careful use of makeup and prosthetic cheekbones. An skinny eight foot humanoid is a norscan, a chaos champion, two halfings in a coat running a scam, an ogre so underfed he is a danger to everyone in reach or an elf.
If you were on the GW creative writing team and were given a chance to change something in the the lore, what would you do?
>>98004556I guess coloring in children's books is a hobby too. >>98004630Change the setting to the age of sigmar, back when he was still kicking and was fucking up goblins as his main threat. The scope needs to be smaller, more focused on something thats actually cool. I dont care for all these dumb plot beats that do nothing that are going on between chaos, tomb kings, elves, or cathay. Honestly nothing feels like anything is going on.
>>98004630stop pretending the storm of chaos dind't happen and archaon didn't lost itthere's so many interesting narratives in a 'post world war' world
>>98004647>I guess coloring in children's books is a hobby tooIf you apply more advanced techniques than filling in the spots with colors it unironically can be. That's the cool part about developing actual artistic skills anon- you can apply them just about anywhere to make interesting works.
>>98004647The whole idea of "plots" is fucking retarded and a gimmick to constantly change the meta and get you to buy new armies and heroes. 40k is obviously the most notorious for this, advancing the "plot" every battlepass season (new edition) as a half baked excuse to launch an entire new range of models or factions for you to purchase, but Warhammer Fantasy isn't immune to this as well. A GREAT setting isn't some ongoing plotline, it's a static world where anything can happen and /yourdudes/ do as they please
>>98004697This honestly. If they just released a new army with zero explanation people would still eat it up, they don't need to change the narrative,. ie Primaris. If they just released Primaris and said "these are the new updated space marine models"but instead they needed to come up with some garbage justification that people hate to this very day
>>98004697A static setting is also a shit product that makes you run out of things to sell.
>>98004630low hanging fruit is walking back on the end times to a point after karl franz's coronation but before archaon's, so he still has to prove his status as everchosen against other aspirants and marius leitdorf and azhag are still aroundthe far more ambitious plan would involve expanding the scope of the setting >habitable parts of the realms of chaos>other worlds and moons of the system>6 additional winds of magic>other gods, including the law demons>many more factions and subfactionsbretonnia is one of those factions I'd change the most, and I'd also push for the empire to be a more dominant power over the surrounding human kingdoms, not to the point of straight up annexation, but a sort of unequal cold alliance
>>98004719You're wrong but I told myself to try to cut down on explaining things to sub100 IQ people on the Internet so I'll let you be
>>98004630It would be really cool if they explored the weird far side of Naggaroth more. I always thought a Dark Shadows on Albion type campaign centered around the Boiling Sea would be kino, where everyone decides to go fight there for whatever plot reasons. One of the main plot points would be that the area is full of weird monsters and beasts, which can be tamed and turned into mounts or similar for the different armies. Giant spiders, scorpions, hyena-dogs, komodo dragons, many eyed birds, weird chimerae, etc. You'd also have a few local factions, with each have 1-3 units and a hero, which you could field as allies.>The Gorgon CultA vaguely greek themed faction, centered around the worship of the Gorgon, an eldritch god-being. Made up of mutated snake-like elves and men that ressemble medusae. Units would be medusae warriors (like the AoM ones), hoplite like cult worshippers and obviously a big snake sorceress hero.>Old BelieversA bunch of elves that have long split from Naggaroth and now live secluded amongst the Broken Lands. Far away from any mainstream elf culture, they've reverted back to the worship of the Ellinilli pantheon, which they see as the only true elf gods. They're not as sophisticated as the other elves, but they have the direct support of the 5 wandering elf gods, which allows them to easily manifest miracles. For units you could have a unit of riders mounted on some Ellinilli beast-spawns and two different priest-mage heroes.>Da Free GitsLiterally just a bunch of goblin slaves escaped from Naggaroth. They have perfected the art of being "dead sneaky" so the DElves don't catch them again.>Some native Americans idkSomething with the Navajo and Apache or maybe even Purepecha could be cool, but I don't know how you'd write it in so it made sense.
>>98004719Yeah from gw's perspective it makes sense. People will cope and say shit like "they could've added araby!" but in effect this is the same fundamental solution as advancing the setting except with the downside that less people care about whatever extension you've sown onto the game, unless you retcon specifically to involve that faction more with the lore of the factions people actually care about. Cathay is a perfect example and we know exactly how this general reacted to it.Anyway, without an advancing setting you're left with either an endless churn of refreshes (which nobody bought at the time) or a fundamental retcon of a given army's arsenal, which can be controversial (demigryphs, dorf scrapped tank, general pre end times monster complaints). An advancing setting may be bad for the setting, but from gw's point of view it makes perfect sense. Hate the game not the player and all that.
>>98004787Nta but if you can't make your case coherent to stupid people it's a bad argument.I agree with him mainly because 40k is basically a static setting and it's dogshit. Sure, they bring a primarch back at the end of some epic campaign, or bring in some retarded idea like primaris or femstodes, but at the end of the day these things amount to nothing & everything stays exactly the same in the setting, barring a couple of new models.Look at how they brought back Guilliman- dude's done basically nothing & sits there with the settings unchanged. Look at Lion- dude HASN'T EVEN INTERACTED with the setting since his reveal. You basically have a static setting from 40k, and it fucking sucks. It's why I've personally been more keen on games like Horus Heresy or Old World (or at least, the idea of what Old World should be)- fixed pseudohistory that keeps things progressing forward with campaigns that feel like they have actual consequence since they definitively build towards something make for fun game sessions, at least from my experience.
>>98004915Cathay is not hated because they retroactively added it into things, but because they did so in a tone deaf way and didn't build the faction with the flaws and internal conflicts every other faction in warhammer is built. You don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about.
I hate cathay because they're boring as hell and are some shit you can find on my mini press ( derogatory)
>>98004915>fundamental retcon of a given army's arsenal, which can be controversial (demigryphs, dorf scrapped tank, general pre end times monster complaints)This was absolutely just a vocal minority of permanent malcontents and the residual historical grogs who got into warhammer in the mid 90s back when Empire/Bretonnia was simply the only way to get a nice looking HYW/30YW army. Even back then every single waacfag immediately cashed in on a unit of demigryphs and today they're seen as one of the most iconic Empire unit by TW kiddies. Even more egregious when it comes to the storm of magic monsters since "invoking magical monsters into battle" has been a thing in warhammer since like fucking 4th edition.
>>98005126fantasy pre 5th edition and warhammer post 5th edition are two completely different settings.
>>98005126F to warhammer-empire.com usersThey were right, Demigryphs suck as do the clockwork horses and Lumi-sharts
Finally, the scions of l'Anguille are ready to ride out!Only took 3 years of waffling about (christ). I've never really put much thought into all of the sinister looking sea dragon bits beyond l'Anguille = water monsters, so if anyone has any cool fluff ideas explaining why they're serpentmaxxing so hard, I'd enjoy reading your takes :)

>>98005281>>98005286fucking nice, seems like you finished them up really quick when you picked them up again. i too reckon languille = water and sea serpents and shit.im a lazy nigger that hasnt painted in a couple weeks because i feel so guilty and ashamed of my backlog and how much money ive spent on minis. ive been selling tow and 40k stuff to narrow my focus and feel better about owning a more curated collection teehee
>>98005286remind me again what these minis are ill ss this time. i like their simplicity and proportions.
>>98005281Sea Serpents or Fen Worms have some history in WFRP, including being connected to Elf God cults or old Human gods, so you could do something with that or you make it so that the founder of your noble fiefdom slew one that was terrorising the local area, and it's part of the area's mythology
>>98005126You're right of course but minority or not gw listened to them, see again the dorf tank example
>>98003478You buy direct from James? Why??
>>98004189Squigs aren’t locked to AoS. I don’t think you actually know anything about the game
>>98005320thank youu>seems like you finished them up really quick when you picked them up againIt's the classic manic burst type thing where you just really lock in to finish a unit after months of putting it off I think.>>98005336It's a kitbash based on the Conquest Games medieval knights, which are meant to represent 11th-12th century French/English knights. I used a lot of bits and bobs to warhammerify them though. The snakes were gifted to me by a friend and come from the old(?) dreadspear sprues. The lucky rabbit ornament is a Bret M@A accessory. The banner, bannerhead, horn instrument and little helmet crest for the champion are black arc corsair bits, the fancy looking shield on the champion is from the cold one riders kit and the 2 weird looking potions you don't actually see that well in the photos are actually from the AoS sea aelf Akhelian guard. So yeah quite a mix. Overall I would rate the CG knights as a pretty good kit. My only complaints is that you need to do a lot of gap filling on the horses and that besides weapons options, the kit is kinda lacking in cool accessories.>>98005346Huh actually didn't know that, thanks anon. Any excuse to jump into WFRP sourcebooks is a good excuse for me.

>>98006343LGS near me doesn't do SGS games like TOW outside of some big boxes so i just use the GW webstore but that's more my fault for living in the most depopulated area of my country
>>98006518I'm ine same boat, there's only one FLGS in the entire country here and they only sell 40k FOTM. Though if you are within the EU do check out FantasyWelt, it's a big german hobby store and they have almost the entire GW catalog, usually at least 8% off.

Is it possible to mix two winds of magic? Not fusing them all back into pure (high) magic or forcing them all together in Dhar, a controlled and intentional fusing of just two or a few winds. It would be interesting to think about what the mixing point of two colours looks like. Are racial lores just a grab bag of winds fused in this way, with or without Dhar?
>>98007286>Is it possible to mix two winds of magic?Yes, but for humans it requires two different spellcasters(pic), Elves can do it themselves but they still need to learn both winds though
>>98007315Nice, that's exactly the kind of thing I was wondering about. I am running a campaign where the winds of magic are extremely turbulent so some of them might mix, either intentionally or by accident, and I was wondering if something like that would necessarily require Dhar to power. Which sourcebook is this from?
>>98007357pic was from Winds of Magic splat book for 4e in the back matter, the elves got a bunch of different mixed spells in the HE player guide so you could alter those slightly to work for humans

>>98008382Did someone make fun of your art anon.
>>98008044Huh never heard of that one, will check out, ty anon.>>98008153Extremely hot take around these parts but I think the 5th ed Bretonnian heraldry system is really lame and reinforces how surface level the entire worldbuilding around the faction is. First of all they clearly just reused a generic set of heraldic charges for this page and tried to backfit it into warhammer, which just looks cheap. You're going to tell me Brets have a standard charge for defeating a bear but not an orc boss? a beastlord? an ogre bull? a Bastonne beast pit or Couronne hagranym? But more importantly by reducing a knights coat of arms to simply being a painted CV they have to change every few years, you're intentionally de-historicising and de-territorifying Bretonnia within the setting to push the entire country into this mythical Arthuriana soup, where it's all just brave knights and fair damsels floating around a never ending timeless present without a past or future. Quid of the great Bretonnian noble houses? Of their lands? Sure for the first ~100 years of its existence, heraldry was very much a wild west situation, but rules evolved very quickly and heraldry went from just being personal branding to a visual representation of your lineage and of your home&hearth, and its this aspect that Bretonnian heraldry willingly casts aside. I'm not saying its all bad. I reused a few charges from that page for my own armorial (the 7-pointed star, keys and horns) because I think it makes for interesting backstories, but I've integrated into a sort of anarchic cca 14th century lineage based heraldic system, rather than taking it as the sole ingredient.>>98008156No that would be me darling, you're getting your posters confused

I think chaos warriors will be revealed this month. Knights probably not yet.
>>98008010I look back at my previous post >>98008241>>98008271And i do want to make my self clear, I do really like the paint job, its so crisp that it actually kinda looks too smooth, and the hand painted symbols are well done. Also the effort to sand off the shields and harness on the barding shows effort that typical armies don't share. its just Crusader state bretonnians is a common theme because its easy to speed paint and use decals for, sometimes in tournaments crusader themed brets outnumber classical brets, so its hard to get excited for it. >>98008213I assume these are your knights errant, so crusading knights errant without their own personal heraldries actually does make sense. But I'll be honest can't throw stones, because arguably my knights are way worse in every single way.
>>98008696they will just start showing off random collector books for 40k before they show off stuff for other games at this point
>>98008723There’s a preview show at the end of the month. They might do another video in a week or so to let us know who’s being featured.

>>98008811>so mindbroken you see any pink/purple as LG HD TV Meds, Now.
>>98008817>more kvetching
>>98008743NTA either, but unless it's an errantry war against the undead, there's no reason for knights to carry crosses on their heraldry. More broadly while there is some lore about knights on errantry war adopting similar colours, as like a form of oath or something, to give all the many crusader bret collections out there cover, structurally IRL crusader orders and Bretonnian crusaders are completely different. It's the Empire knightly orders that mirror IRL templars with their religious devotion, lifelong commitment, chapterhouses and strict hierarchy. Bret "crusaders" are basically just a bunch of 17yo zoomer knights saying "dudedudedude, it would be so awesome if we all wore the same tabard for the next battle it would look so sick man." I mean ultimately you can do whatever you want with your own minis, but I do think people should be allowed to say they think you're being lazz for just copying history 1:1 without the tiniest attempt to give it a warhammery fig leaf.
>>98008734>There’s a preview show at the end of the month.Where did this information come from?
>>98008822It'd be real hard to make knights faggier than by painting them pink with little flowers on them.
>>98008854NTA but you are actually mind broken
>>98008854>he genuinely doesn't knowlol newfags
>>98008840Fyi the empire knightly orders were literally created after the bretonnian crusade on arabyans because they thought this was dope af.And by the way, the king leading this crusade was named Louis.
>>98008894>>98008885Sorry not sorry, fag shit is fag shit.
>>98008854>being this willfully ignorant
>>98008811Flowers are a common motif among knights and noble houses. Roses, Lilies I mean come on.
>>98008895I mean yes, but the Araby crusade followed the Bretonnian pattern of errantry wars, which consists of vaguely directing young landless knights towards the general direction of the enemy and telling them to have fun. They either die there, or return back home to their normal lives. Beyond the normal amount of lady worship it's not even particularly religious, it's not like errantry wars are ever declared to protect holy sites or pilgrim routes. There's exactly 0 lore on any Bretonnian crusader order existing, with the extremely dubious exception of the 1985 Knights of Origo, which predate the existence of both Bretonnia and the Empire (their faction was simply called "Men of the West"). Even the dangerous Altdorf-Couronne Shallyan pilgrim route known as the Road to Couronne notably doesn't have any Bretonnian templars of any sort, there's only a lone grail knight patrolling the whole thing. It was after the Empire knights came back with their loot from the Araby crusades that they decided to invent the whole religious and/or secular knightly order system all on their own without any input from the Brets.I think it's an interesting gap in the lore that could be filled in by a good writer, but the fact of the lore as it currently is says that templar Brets are unfluffy.
>>98009028Bro, the entire country is a religious order what are you on about.>but the fact of the lore as it currently is says that templar Brets are unfluffy.Right, there's no templars in warhammer. Just medieval knights wearing crosses going on crusades to kill not-arabs, undead in not-arabs lands and orcs.
>>98009028To expand a bit on this, I think that if I were to write/paint a Bretonnian knightly order, I wouldn't base them on crusaders but on the somewhat lesser known medieval votive orders, which were orders of chivalry, temporarily formed on the basis of a vow. They were courtly chivalric games rather than actual pledges as in the case of the fraternal orders.See pic related for a good example. I almost want to paint a unit of knights like this now.
>>98009086stop arguing with the troon. You are arguing with a sociopath that thinks m's can become f's
>>98009028i always liked Bretonnia, and Warhammer as a whole, being lowest common denominator. So Bretonnia being Not King Arthur, and Having Not Robin hood, And Not Joan of arc.. those tongue and cheek references are great stuff to me. its kind of so dumb, but it works. Not Crusaders are fine too.
>>98008910Grow up.
I'm on the process of moving cross country right now and all I daydream every day is making terrain and terrain project ideas.. I can't wait to finally get set up again. I feel like I'll forget half of my ideas by the time I get around to making stuff again

Any of these worth picking up?? Someone is selling it near me and idk what most of them are
>>98008895>the empire knightly orders were literally created after the bretonnian crusade on arabyansThe Bretonnian crusades were literally created after the Empire's knights did their Black Crusade because they thought this was dope af
>>98009346A shame, because it was cool as fuck having a peasant hero command unit.
>>98009388They were more of an upgrade to bowmen than their own thing. But a very unique upgrade for sure.
>>98009369Can't tell what any of the is but if it's oldhammer it's worth a fuck ton of money
>>98009369Define "worth picking up". There are some pre-slotta citadel metals there and I think all the models are lovely, but unless you want to collect old empire models, someone else will probably want that stuff more than you do. If you're trying to flip these models for a profit, consider suicide instead.
How do you guys move your armies around? I am going to be shipping stuff " across the pond " as it were soon. And idk if I should just buy a second hand carrying case with foam inserts. I am not worried about the plastic models, but I want the metal minis to be nicely protected for obvious reasons.
>>98009531Magnets glued under the bases, carefully place them in a metal toolbox, bob's your uncle. Foam carrying cases are the devil, avoid at all costs.
>>98009546>Magnets glued under the bases, carefully place them in a metal toolboxI trust that for getting them to the hobby shop from home. But not for shipping to other continents. Which is what I am doing.
>>98009531I've done this three different methods. First method I rubbed the bottom of a plastic hard box with a thin layer of PVA glue and I stuck all my miniatures in the glue by their bases, so they would all stand neatly in the box without jostling around. It worked great, nothing was broken when they arrived but they were all hard to get back out of the box and I broke some off of the bases when I tried to get them out. Second method was k individually wrapped every single mini on bubble wrap and put them in a plastic box. Worked great, but took too long. Third method: I put down two layers of pubblewrap on the bottom of the box, then neatly laid down 20-30 minis on their sides on the bubble wrap, then I put another two sheets of bubble wrap and then another group of minis, just enough to they wouldn't touch each other, then another two sheets of bubble wraps, etc, then once I was done I filled the rest of the box with bubblewrap so they wouldn't jostle around. This method was very fast and cheap and no minis were harmed. It's the best method
>>98009558Cheers, thanks for the help anon.
>>98009552Have you considered using two magnets? In all seriousness, magnets will get the job done better than a foam case would. Throw in some the box your models will be in ensconced within another, bigger, box, but even then you're still going to be taking a gamble. International shipping is always fucked, there's no better solution other than carrying them with you on the plane/ship.
>>98008822>>98008885>>98009297>thinks he can gaslight people when the hash shows it's a bait image combining pastel troon flag colors>>98009558I can vouch for the third one. Bubble wrap and filling box enough that what's being sent doesn't have room to move.
Just a few more weeks lads, surely this is it.
>>98009531I can't speak for the magnet method (it is the next method i want to try), but I agree with the other anon about the bubble wrapped method as i found that bubble wrapping in layers or in groups but then making sure all negative space was filled with light filler so that nothing can easily shift around. I worked as a baggage handler, and i'll tell you knowing the mentality of the average baggage handler your package will be safe from abuse because it'll probably be super light and easy to pack. Its the heavy, awkward poorly packed bags full of heavy fragile shit that are most likely to get abused. I flew with a plastic container that had a solid latching lid, but also with a rope tied around it, just incase it needed to be searched, i could slide the rope off and on again easily, but when it was in place it helped keep the lid in place, had no problems. Obviously the container was opaque and the rope helped identify it easily at the baggage claim.
>>98009836its not a bait image, its my army, its as much as a bait image as templars are.
>>98009852MORE PRODUCT MORE PRODUCT!!
>>98009860They look great anon, ignore the manlets impotent rage.
>>98008434I actually agree with you. I do like the IDEA of knights adding certain marks to indicate past accomplishments but for the most part I greatly prefer arms as an indicator of heritage.
It's never going to happen, but I think it's be nice if the new chaos warriors looked more like the old chaos warriors than the less new chaos warriors.
>>98009890I think the cover art for the Great Bastion AJ and the shields from the earlier books are basically what they will look like aesthetically.
>>98009897Does GW still have that stupid rule about not showing anything in art that hasn't got a model?

>>98009916Makes sense. I wish gw did that thing with the helmets where it’s featureless. I think it’s only been really done with that one lord of the ring mini, forget its name. Mazghul?
>>98009904Maybe? Lots in that one piece though that doesn't have a model.
>>98009924Terrain doesn’t count
>>98009920I would have preferred if it had some eyes to paint. I've thought about making some green stuff balls and putting them behind the helmet and painting them like glowing eyes, but I've got a game tomorrow and the Green Knight is probably going to be the deciding factor for me. So I still have time to make changes later.

Magic being the case is reprented in game by me giving the paymaster (when hes on foot) the Talisman of Preservation, as the lingering magical effect from the feathers
>>98002865How will Ser Duncan the Tall fare in Warhammer?
>>98010832Fairly well I think. It's another fantasy world in a somewhat medieval/early-modern age (but with more magic about). Most factions tend to use wandering knights, and other Dogs of War, for wars and other errantries. He would always be of service, even if petty.
pic unrelated>>98004006Maybe? There are a couple of hypothesis that could explain this apparent discrepancy.Either the von Blindhofen is an off-branch of the Liebwitz which rose to power, or perhaps the name Liebwitz was changed to von Blindhofen shortly after TOW's timeframe. A real-world example of the later can be seen with the UK, when King George V altered the dynasty, from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, to Windsor.>>98004028>GW woke the fuck up and realised TOW is deserving of actual effort and attention,I'm still sceptical on that. Do not forget that TOW is being supported by the former FW team, the secondary team which is also focusing on the less popular games (such as HH, or BloodBowl). And if the rumours are correct when it comes to the competition and friction between the AoS and TOW teams - not to mention that the upcoming "AoS Last World" is intending to captivate any Fantasy/TOW players, or so the rumours go - then I'd say that TOW is still ways away to be properly recognised by GW's higher-ups as an IP that requires proper effort.

>>98011334>Making them their own army is retarded and makes no sense. It would have made sense if they bothered to expand the scope of the factions' themes like pretty much all factions do with a fan of 3 or 4 subfactions, even just in the fluff backdrop, but instead they just stuck with being a parallel army of slightly hairier chaos marauders.

On the topic of terrain stuff. Does anyone know any good 'warhammer fantasy'-feeling 3d printable village stuff?I mean specifically buildings for farmsteads / small village houses and the like that has the right style. (greebles, animals and stuff like farmland and modular fences I do know where to find and/or make by hand)I feel like there's a dearth of it that's good. Most i've found is too historical (like Throne & Ash), too fantasy for the regular village (like Shadowfey and Hagglethorn Hollow) or too WoW-like (Winterdale) / too clean-stone buildings (Clorehaven).I realize those are all from the same makers, but it mostly goes for the rest too.Meanwhile for castles and urban stuff there's tons of stuff like Ramshackle & Ruin, Hexengarde, City of Tarok, Ancrabourg etc that all works great and can be mixed with the cleaner ones. (from those there are only a few buildings that work for small villages imo)I'm not about to assault any old world players with more terrain than is sensible, I just feel like building up a warhammer diorama that isn't urban or siege and maybe use it for some skirmish gaming in the setting.
>>98014780Don't know if this is what you are looking for, but the good Doctor Spork has those few retro fantasy buildings on his MMF:https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-retro-fantasy-village-vol-1-761404https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-retro-fantasy-village-vol-2-765329And in case you need some watchtowers too, there are those:https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-retro-fortified-tower-790226https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-retro-fantasy-watchtower-656736
>>98014854Nah, definitely not it. I don't mean simpler. I mean something with wood and a bit of a grubby feeling to it.I guess Realms of Altburg or similar is what i'm after but they have like three buildings total which isn't that great.Although I suppose I could kitbash something out of them, throw in a few shanty buildings from printable scenery stuff, some open blacksmith building, a small market with stalls, a tavern, a slightly snazzier mayor's house, a few animal pens, a bunch of villagers going about their work and fields and mud roads would do the trick. That might work with any luck.
>>98014780>skirmish gaming in the setting Tell me more.
>>98014927Haven't decided on anything yet. I'd probably just use it as an excuse to try Thud & Blunder with villager npcs and a few hero characters. You know setup a scenario, build a couple characters within the rules, maybe make up a few special rules for villagers with their own tables. Scenario-wise maybe there's a deserter group of imperial ogres raiding the local farms, maybe there's a chaos cultist looking to poison the local well, maybe the beastman are at the gates looking to set fire to the town, maybe the local mayor wants to get re-elected and has to do something extreme in order to do it. If the system is too slow then probably add an endgame timer like when the closest garrison of the imperial army has time to respond and put down any unrest. That sort of thing. Just a fun time with some warhammer window dressing.
>>98014254Literally perfect for Cursed Company
I know one of you goyim did this to me.
>>98014980Sounds based. >Thud and Blunder Never heard of it. Is villager NPC built into the rules or are you have to homebrew it? I was thinking about some skirmish in a warhammer fantasy setting using Brutal Quest
>>98015008No way are YOU the jackass that kept increasing the price on me last minute?
>>98015024I FUCKING KNEW ITDamn you and your infinite divorced dad coffers, fucking robbed me of that deer crested one and now this.
>>98015015>Is villager NPC built into the rules or are you have to homebrew it?I don't actually know, the game is in my backlog and I intend to test it out on the table not read it before then. I'd assume i'd have to homebrew it but they might work under the same rules as everyone else and just be their own warband. Whichever I think would be more fun. I have a couple of others I intend to test (advanced song of blade and heroes, Fistful of Lead's fantasy supplement, open combat, brutality, five leagues from the borderlands, rangers of shadow deep, frostgrave, Burrows & Badgers) but Thud & Blunder was getting good reviews, is a bit crunchier than several of those and I read the foreword and thought they had something interesting in mind so I figured i'd give it a go.
>>98015008why is that $120? I missed these "bestigors"
>>98015081Classic metal Bretonnian knights go for a good amount, generally like $30 each for command models and $50+ each for rank and file, but this divorced gay man with infinite money has been battling me for the rarer Questing Knights lately. For some reason 5e Grail Knights tend to be cheaper, except for the champion specifically, which is like $120.>bestigorsLul, those are the best people to buy from. I've found great deals on classic metal Bret infantry and QKs from retards mislabeling them as Empire/AoS etc.
>>98013034>>98013263I've been reading all about this game for the past few hours and how to recreate it via printing and stuffhttps://cutandassemble.com/print-and-play-warhammer-questand I think I can make the game pretty easy (using printer and materials at work), but sourcing the miniatures is going to be a huge pain. I want that oldhammer vibe but those models are hard to find and quite pricey
>>98007451I'm the anon with the Tilean dwarf hold, some of you might remember me from the previous TOW days when I used to post regularly. I haven't shared much lore in a while but I guess it's worth trying again. One guild that has recently risen in its standing is that of the brick/tile/shingles makers; working with and transforming clay into all sort of usable products.Mostly composed of members from 2 clans/families with younger members often being traded/working in conjunction with other guilds they've carved a rather steady and enviable position in the hold's economy. Some of it comes from their very specialized production (bricks for high temperature forges, runed pottery and food containers for food preparation and preservation, masterfully decorated tiles, drinking vessels such as tankards and cups...), some of it comes from the fact that many other guilds all benefit from them: runeforgers and blacksmiths are willing to pay a fortune for a properly built forge able to resist the most fiery of fires, miners are routinely employed to help locate and start new clay pits, as well working the pit itself, engineers of al stripes have cut their teeth on projecting scaffolding and machinery to better dig clay out of pits, architects and masons can now design better defensive structures and more daring infrastructures, merchants are all too happy to sell dwarfen plates and wares to humans and halflings --while costing a small fortune, a complete set of dwarf-made cookware and tableware - makes for a popular weeding gift among Bretonnian nobles--...In battle, they often provide the crew of catapults and mangonel with a never ending amount of grudge-inscribed bricks, prime ammunition material. The guild actually commissioned a large trebuchet capable of scores and scores of bricks rain upon the enemy. Promptly named "The Bricklayer", enormous warmachine is among the most renowned mechanical warmachines in the hold.
>>98015005Fuck this post now has me considering how much I'd have to spend to create some sort of cursed-company analogue of landsknechts>>98014292they've had to cut on their caloric intake since they had an unfortunate run-in with a necromancer :(>>98014354Which fallen province? >>98015055A song of blade and heroes is probably fun, I like that system but I've only really played it using the Napoleonic variant A song of drum and shakos, 5 leagues from the borderlands I have never found fun, something about the system just felt bland to me. Same with Frostgrave and Shadow deep, I LOVE these games because they are basically the only games that ever tried to recreate the Mordheim warband with post game management style, but I really really hated the d20 combat resolution. Silver Bayonet improved it greatly by using 2d10 instead, but it still isn't optimal. Burrows and Badgers is an AMAZING game but I personally can't get into the furry aspect, which has prevented me from buying into it, but all the times I've played with my buddy is has been so good. I'm interested in Thud and Blunder, I'll see if I can find a PDF (free) to give it a read

>>98015269It's a californian company called skull n crown. In 28mm they have 16th-17th century skeletons and also medieval marginalia killer rabbits.
>>98015251>I'm interested in Thud and Blunder, I'll see if I can find a PDF (free) to give it a readHere everything I have for it (everything but the core book is from the guys who made it's website)gf /d/WLnpez
>>98015251>>98015319Also yeah I hear most complaints about Mccullough's systems are the D20 swinginess and some feeling it's bland. But I figure i'll try them anyway and find out for myself. Silver Bayonets is also on my list, I can forgive a lot if the actual themeing is there. (as are some Osprey ones like en garde! and Ronin and Guards of Traitor's Toll even if I hear some people on here called it overly boardgamey)
>>98015334En Garde is a really great system. I was super excited for Guards of Traitors toll before it came out, I got a little too hyped, I wanted to use it to play in the warhammer fantasy universe but after reading everyones posts in the Facebook group about it after it launched I was pretty disappointed
>>98015316I'm about to spend so much money on skellytons
>>98015380Everyone who talks about En Garde! hypes it a lot I notice.GoTT isn't that good then? Or just not what you expected?
>>98015494I haven't played GoTT but all the players were upset that it was painfully slow, turn resolution takes forever and games often can't be completely in an evening, and the AI has people often times wandering aimlessly in circles so nothing happens, or so I've heard
>>98015504Ah yeah, that sounds bad. Still probably going to try it with a 'borrowed' pdf for the idea alone.

>>98015553nostalgia aside, is it actually good?
Does wanting to start a Sea Guard army make me a massive faggot?
>>98016572No not really
>>98015959Cathay was audacious and paid off spectacularly, but I suspect new armies aren't something they want to do regularly moving forward. Their only options are>NipponToo similar to Cathay, plus the Chaos element makes them "evil non-whites," which is a no-no for Gays Whorehouse in 2026.>ArabySee "evil non-whites" above, even though that was just one instance in their distant past, and Suliman le Saracen, Al Muktar's Desert Dogs, the Mordheim merchant, etc have all been shown to be benevolent and reasonable. Nope! Non-whites can NEVER do wrong, and depicting Arabs as Arabs is le offensive. They unironically said this to the Perrys when they tried to pitch Araby as an actual army, by the way, and that was in fucking 2004.>IndProbably the best option for them for a new army, it's the perfect storm in terms of aesthetic uniqueness, copyrightability, creative potential, and DEIshit except actually interesting instead of just putting more Men of the Empire and Bretonnians in fucking blackface. There's a huge well to draw from creatively from there, basically all they have to do is make the Kushan from Berserk and they'll print money. They also just recently did MESBG's Ind equivalent as well, so they're practiced in that style of arms and armor. Could be really cool, but will we see it this decade? Probably not.>KislevPutler-related delay aside, they'll probably get a flanderized enshittification refresh a la nu-Bretonnians and it will fucking suck cock. I do not think we'll be getting the 2004 classics back and I am very pessimistic about nu-Kislev. They'll HAVE to release them eventually, and since they'll be half of the face of the "Forces of Fantasy" climax in Praag, they'll almost certainly be updated and enshittified, but again, not any time soon. I think we'll see Magnus and other new Empire and Chaos characters long before we see a single hohol or hrukpig.
Autistic question, but is there any specific reason why Wraiths are always depicted as wielding scythes? They are the spirits of necromancer who refuse to pass on. The robes are their death shroud, which is all fine. But where does the scythe come from? They are very much not aligned with Morr, and indeed go to great lengths not to go to the underworld.I could understand a sword/dagger from their mortal lives, or a staff as a necromancer. But why a scythe? Does it just spring from nowhere?Obviously there's the reaper aesthetic but I'm curious if there's any deeper meaning behind it.
>>98016623the scythe is a symbol of death magic and necromancy in general, not just a symbol of morr, I'd guess it makes for a good magical focus for them.
>>98016623An ironic punishment from, or perhaps mockery of, Morr? Not everything needs to be explicitly spelled out in lore. The obvious meta reason is that they're the classic depiction of death, just like Morr.
>>98016623Because it looks fucking cool.
Huh. I just found out that Christian Hardy, the designer behind some of the AoS' vampire models (such as Ushoran and Prince Vhordrai), had become Lead Designer for TOW 8 months ago.
>>98016875I think we need a more expensive list of what he's worked on otherwise the assumption that he's been moved to do vampire coast for tow will stick around for years.
>>98016887His insta shows everything he’s made. He’s done a little bit of everything. Most of his models are pretty good.
>>98016875It's come up in this thread before, he also worked on a lot of skaventide stormcast stuff iircBoth ushoran and vhordrai were very well received, nr 1 and 2 on that best aos minis of all time poll from last year, so it makes sense for him to move up in the company I think.
>>98016875The absolute state of Warhammer Fantasy, the torch has been passed to AoSissies
>>98016944>sculptor who sculpted two Warhammer Fantasy characters is promoted from dying tranny game to Warhammer FantasyThe horror... the horror
>>98016038shit comes out steaming hot too
>>98016964More like, they couldn't find any actual Warhammer Fantasy fans/grogs to do it so they had to hire an Age of Tranny sculptor (that is a literal faggot)
I will never understand why people here so eagerly fall for the most obvious possible bait. He's clearly just fishing for (You)s, come on, let's get our head in the game now.
Even "simple" painting guides seem to expect me to have about 50 different paints on hand. I'm just painting goblins, not the Sistine Chapel. Guess I'm just buying my first set of paints based off vibes.
>>98017096At the very least you can cut down on all highlight colors by just adding some white to whatever you're using.
>>98017134I'll try that for a start, thanks. Going to just grab a bunch of vallejo paints from my local hobby shop and go from there.
>>98017096Here's my very simple paint scheme I use for my goblins, 11 paints and 2 shades. The paints themselves are kind of whatever, it's a mishmash of what I've picked up over the years, but maybe the system could be helpful? My tip top advice is that Zandri dust is an amazing mutli-duty colour that can be used for all sorts of bits and bobs like skulls or belts or ropes when you can't be assed to paint each detail its own special colour.>>98017134This can work. I can't be bummed to invest into more blue paint, so all of my blues are Kantor Blue with various levels of Mechanicus Grey mixed in. However you do then need to keep notes of the various mixes, otherwise you will forget and it'll be a nightmare to colourmatch when you try and add more units.
>>98017334Older picture but here's what that look likes IRL. Not going to claim it looks particularly pretty, but hey, I think it's good enough.
Absolutely abominable posture, this is where shrimpmaxxing will get you
>>98016607I'd still like a completely out of left field new army that flashes out an area unexpected. I want a native american based army based around Comanche, Black foot, Iroquois, etc from the area south of the dark elves. Heavy focus on close range ranged combat with fire and flee. Maybe something sort of unique like a big focus on vortex spells or remains in play spells that are harder to dispel than normal but only offer buffs/debuffs. Giant flying monsters that are their artillery equivalent that operate like those skinks but drop templates. And so on.
>>98017489Isn't that area just filled with Shades?
>>98017518What happens on Bear Isle?

>>98017698I don't know if he means Foot Knights are terrible, which they are. Or if he doesn't like that Bretonnia is back to being more like it's 5th edition noblebright rather than its 6th edition grimderp.
>>98017698I don't think he's talking about the lore, which is still as barebones as ever, he's probably talking about the goofy looking foot knights which unfortunately look very cities of sigmar-y.>>98017489Honestly yeah, there are so many cool native American tribes left out there they could use as inspirations for new factions and/or full armies. Would absolutely love to see an Iroquois based thing personally.
>>98017749>>98017749>>98017749>>98017749Page 8, new
>>98017752Fuck off, trooder.
>>98017518Sure, but they've already retconned some stuff and that's a lot easier of a place to do it with since its been functionally ignored even more than the Asian area was. Would also allow for a good way to integrate both dark elves and lizard men since they'd exist between them.
has anyone made this guy able to rank up? i'm thinking of making the cloak just drop down and maybe reposing the lance too
>>98017096Buy a fucking Scale 75 box. Or Two Thin Coats. Or Army Painter if you're really that broke. Stupid pig.
