Disco Elysium was literally a story about two super cliche things:

Yet it's seen as one of the as a great story because it executed on it in a way that was memorable. WotC just doesn't give a shit about writing good stories because their first priority has always been set design with the story vaguely happening in the background, often only being added hastily after most of the setting is made.
There's nothing new under the sun. The thing that makes a story great is if people remember it. Magic stories are not memorable because WotC does not try to make them memorable. WotC only tries to make stories inoffensive (often failing at that too).

Nobody thinks the story is good. Not only is the game generally controversial, but the lauded part is the way the schizophrenic voices work, not the story.
What you're doing is like saying the story of Diablo II or Brood War are masterpieces because people love those games. Most people don't even remember the story of either, they just respect the gameplay itself. Hell, a fair number of Brood War players and fans probably haven't even played the story.

Disco Elysium was genuinely total dogshit as an actual game. It's legitimately walking sim tier with your stats barely mattering because you have to go out of your way to fail. Many people now say the best way to "play" the game is to edit the files and let yourself start with max all stats so you see all the dialogue from passive checks because it barely influences anything else. Anti-checks, despite what the game implies, are barely used and some stats have less than 4 active checks in the whole game, with some having no red checks at all.
That's like saying people liked Undertale for the gameplay. No they absolutely didn't that game was fucking horrible. People just liked the quirk chungus writing because it was memorable against the myriad of stories made to be as homogeneous as possible.

I think you're talking about different things here.
The story in Disco Elysium, as in the plot itself, is awful. Genuinely terrible. The worst kind of shaggy dog story.

What's good is the presentation, essentially the prose. Calling that gameplay is... questionable. It's dogshit, but with lots of filters and confetti that entertain you.

Back to the original point, I think the real problem is this assumption:

People remember the worst stories as much as they remember the best ones. It's the middle that get forgotten. Magic stories are definitely firmly in the middle, but their presentation is also lackluster. Disco Elysium's is on the low end, but with great presentation, and that dissonance makes people remember it.

Magic does not try to create memorable stories. It tries to create inoffensive ones.
A daring story that tries and fails is memorable.
An excellent story is also memorable.
The type of story Magic aims for is whatever can be put out in short notice on minimal budget while offending the smallest amount of people. This is why Magic struggles to have its story actually maintain any sort of relevance even in the minds of people that play the fucking game all day. Because the story begins at "Okay we put all these characters together in this setting. Make it make sense," even when that "setting" is "We just dressed up all the iconic characters in cowboy outfits but still want to pretend this is part of a larger narrative."
There is no desire to make something compelling from the moment the story is commissioned. The story was never made to be anything more than a background element.

The entire deck identity is cheating out big stuff quickly. It's kind of hard not to pull a lot of aggro doing that since it's just so explosive.
You can maybe reduce the amount of aggro you pull by mention pregame that you're just building one of the three tribes?
It's a bit of a pity, she's very pretty and would make a great waifu commander but both versions just don't sit well with me.

Has anyone ever ran into the "resolve your triggers guy" even when you don't have legal targets/have to use them? I was playing baylen and had aura shards out and destroyed everyones artifacts and enchantments but when I played another hare apparent one dude was like "you have 5 aura shards triggers!!" and I responded with "well it's a may ability?" and he immediately was like "well that's still 5 triggers you still have to go through all of them before you play anything else!" I get that sure it's the rules but if it's a may ability and none of my opponents have targets im not gonna sit and waste time. To top it off too no one had interaction so like priority for a response wasn't needed on these triggers I don't get it people are weird.

I've played probably hundreds of games where someone plays a notorious commander, and starts the game off by saying "oh it's not that commander deck". Then proceeds to play every single combo line & staple for that commander. Out of ALL those interactions I've only ever seen ONE deck where it actually was different and it was a UR- Dragon deck with a 6 card chaos combo that killed the ur dragon player and then gave the rest of the opponents a copy of ur dragon.

I RARELY see people have a back up plan, at least at my LGS. I'm convinced 99% of players treat edh as some sort of show and tell party, and using interaction is considered satanic. I once had Y'Shtola out with Sigil of Sleep, and I just bounced commanders back to hand every turn. All 3 players scooped the second time it happened.
