Good. Goblins are stupid and smell bad.
>>
Generals are, were, always have been and always will be a mistake.
>>
>>98019275
Personally I would keep the share thread and combine all general OPs into a single thread to archive links, and have discussion happen in fire and forget threads.
>>
>>98019275
I like that WIP exists, everyone who posts their actual craft on this god forsaken site are saints. But maybe permanent threads and generals aren't the same thing?

Yes and no.
Yes in the sense that their purpose is good to mitigate the amount of DnD and Warhammer and OSR threads being constantly spewed out.
No in the sense that the communities are not that great but remember the website were on.

I have a feeling that if a Janny tries to actually purge excess Warhammer/DnD threads then trolls are gonna spam them to "troll" the jannies.
I vaguely remember seeing I think an /int/ catalogue screencap of shitting on Russia because a mod was allegedly deleting threads mocking Russia and /int/ trolls noticed and fought back.
So something similar might happen here.
Might.
So Jannies probably are playing it safe.

>>
>>98019233
To be fair, of the 40 generals for OSR, two are real (/osrg and /nsrg) and 38 are schizo-generated.
>>
>>98019536
Nah, I'm pretty sure the shizo would have to be that troll who keeps trying to flood them while screaming "SAMEFAGSAMEFAGSAMEFAG" and prompting everyone to just keep moving on. Is that you? You sound like him.

>But maybe permanent threads and generals aren't the same thing?
In practice they are the same thing but they have more of a lifespan because they can adapt to some major changes here and there as well as having a reason to post conversation starters every other day.
>>
>>98019661
Weirdly enough if you consoliated those into a general plot hook thread it would be a lot more bearable.
>>
>>98019809
Not really. Puckee threads don't have any substance behind them and aren't even the kind of question that can be spun into a plothook or an interesting story element. They're always just vapid.
>>
>>98019275
I think generals have single handily killed 4chan. /a/ is a graveyard.
>>

>>

What do you anti-generalist think getting rid of Generals would actually do?
/tg/ is usually best when it's not a fast board to begin with, so how would atomizing discussions you already claim are clogging up the board help?
>>
>>98020063
The board was literally better before we had generals you fucking retard. It turns out it's actually not a problem at all if everyone who has a random D&D question just makes a new thread for it.

Exactly, this isn't /b/, we're not entirely random shit.
Threads will naturally consolidate just as easily as they'll split.

I do not like generals, no. And I also don't like passive aggressive bitching from idiots who think we're on reddit, so consider this one potentially my last (you).
>>
>>98020191

>>
>>98019275
there should be a /tgg/ board like /vg/ to take all the generalslop out of the catalog
>>
>>98020280
Just make a personal filter for the word "general" and watch as 50+ threads you don't care about instantly disappear.
>>
>>98020280
It would be interesting to see, though /vg/ got split because /v/ was getting too big. /tg/ on the other hand is down to 5k daily users.

Split off the generals, and /tg/ might actually die.
/tgg/ would have been a good idea five or so years ago, but it's too late now.
>>
>>98020280
Ironically if /vg/ was being used for its intended purpose about 80% of the Warhammer threads on /tg/ would disappear instantly.

>>
>>98020294
>Split off the generals, and /tg/ might actually die.
Honestly wondering if this isn't the goal considering what happened after Quest got booted off...
>>
>>98020592
We're not doing this revisionism shit again. If quests mattered to /tg/, then /qst/ would be exploding with activity and /tg/ would be dead. /tg/ is trudging along at a snail's pace, but /qst/ is doing so poorly that people forget it even exists.

Nearly all quests were primarily frequented by small, specific groups of regulars. Once a quest went past its first couple threads, the majority of anons coming and going didn't even bother glancing at "Magical Butler Tacticool Harem Quest #49" because they weren't going to read the backlog ever. Once a quest would end, those regulars would not go running to any and all other quests. The thing that killed quests was that the ones the minority of users were actually following eventually ended and they didn't bother following any new ones.

>40 generals for osr
They're not generals.
It's a response to faggots who want to autistically gatekeep /osrg/ from bad-wrong-fun games that don't fit their contested definition that D&D second edition is "not OSR"
We made threads free of that shit, and they openly admit to raiding/spamming them at >>98016198 >>98001657 & >>98001965
They also are pushing the idea that everyone who opposes them is actually just "one guy" who somehow posts across timezones & has never played dnd once before, and please trust us everyone agrees its just one guy.
And these threads will keep getting made at a rate of a normal thread. If they raid and spam it to bump limit we will make more, because there's no rules against making threads. /osrg/ still exists, they're not a general.
>>
>>98020921
>who want to autistically gatekeep /osrg/
Yes, osrg is allowed to have whatever definition of what is and is not off topic for itself, that it wants.

Genuinely: What do you think would happen if quests were reintegrated into /tg/? You think people would come running back? Do you believe they left because the board split was so outrageous and unacceptable that the mythical massive quest-loving users vanished into thin air? Do you think the current crop of users, who have very clearly told you repeatedly that they are glad quests are gone, will be happy to have a few more PPH on /tg/ that they just start participating in quests again?

Lay it out for us. Explain how you think any of this works.

You can't explain your rationale in any way, so instead you jump to the conclusion that I, or other anons, were personally responsible for quests getting their own board, a thing that the mods would never have considered if not for a large enough portion of users demanding it. You are so obsessed with this quest shit, but can't even understand how retarded you sound when you whine about how badly /tg/ needed to keep quests, but can't explain why quests can't function on their own board, but /tg/ can.

You're not making sense. You sound like a fucking idiot when you keep going on about this fiction of seething "antiquestfags" ruining the board. If you love quests so much, why aren't you and all of the other supposed quest lovers on /qst/ right now? Why is that board so fucking dead, even by present day 4chan standards? Why aren't you examining your own retarded behavior instead of lashing out like a schizo faggot?

You write EXACTLY the same in every post. I dont even care about OSR at all but I can recognize YOUR posts because you use the same BS “”we”” technique to try and conjure up an image of a whole crowd supporting this mass spamming of /tg/. I want your stupid fucking threads to go away. The “OSR thread” began with a reference to /OSRG/ and some shit about what they don’t allow, so your claims that it’s not about discussing /OSRG/ are kinda BS. If it wasn’t you wouldn’t have even mentioned them in the OP. I don’t play DnD or any other RPG so I don’t give a shit about you faggots definition of whatever OSR is but the mods and jannies need to figure out where they stand on this and bring the hammer down because it has now become INCREDIBLY annoying.

Joblins...
>>
>>98021561
They really only became different races over time because mechanically in D&D you'd need different stat blocks for one being small and the other being big. So the result is that in popular culture they diverged, despite orcs literally starting off as big goblins. And not even especially large goblins, but "almost man sized" at the largest.

At this point yes they're largely considered different but related races, but it's ignorant to pretend they've always been this way. The only major modern game I can think of that still really keeps them tied together is Warhammer, because legally they are the same species there still.

>They really only became different races over time
This is some impressive revisionism. Goblins are diminutive creatures found in European folklore. Orcs are humanoid monsters invented by Tolkien. While Tolkien's orcs were inspired by The Princess and the Goblin, the archetype that he defined ended up bearing little resemblance to most mythological goblins. Insisting that they must be the same requires either refusing to include what most people think of as an "orc" or abandoning the folkloric goblin more or less entirely.
>>
>>98022777
He literally calls orcs big goblins in the Hobbit retard.
>>
Another big problem of generals. They create too many schizos. Like the ones currently invading this thread.
>>
>>98022782
>missing the point this hard
Tolkien's orcs are not folkloric goblins. He may use the word, but the concepts are distinct. What orcs have developed into in most media is even further from the folkloric goblin.

It's also worth pointing out that Tolkien explicitly has hobbits as a subrace of humans, yet you see precious few complaints about those having "diverged over time".
>>
>>98019233
So talk about something interesting, dipshit.
>>
>>98022880
You do realize saying "Tolkien orcs aren't folkloric goblins" is as dumb as saying "Tolkien goblins aren't folkloric goblins" right
>>
Why are generals bad again? They typically are the only way you can discuss specific topics on this site anymore.
>>

When people could play as them. So WoW and later editions of D&D. Players making female characters tend to want them to be at least a little attractive. So WoW goblins kind of became the thin edge of the wedge that creates the modern coom goblin by having female goblins that aren't super attractive by any means but have cute hair and makeup and boobs.
