This is also where randomness comes in (or in a game "the gameplay"). You can have the "objectively correct" build in a game like elden ring and still lose, or have a subpar build and win. Likewise in games theres randomness introduced to have it be that even if theres an "objectively correct" way to do things and solve, the game, you might not have access to the pieces to make it happen and working with subpar tools is what you have to do. In CYOA books its about a lack of information, you dont KNOW that picking left leads to an ogre that kills you. In a cyoa, where you are generally assumed to have perfect knowledge and have by necessity "perfect access" (thats the "choose" part after all) its rather dangerous. But lets see how you manage, it might be a really novel maybe even "genre defining" work, it certainly looks pretty. Although I would drop the 4th wall breaking aside, I personally find them distasteful and distracting, nothing takes you out of a cyoa/setting like the author wink wink nudge nudging you through the screen to remind you its all just fake pngs on a forum.

Nanaya wanted Midra to endure because enduring would make the madness grow stronger, conveniently. When the Hornsent came, he wasn't strong enough to become a lord, meaning he failed. But when we arrive, potentially hundreds of years after the fact, he is ripe and ready to become a fully realized lord. The reason Midra apologized to Nanaya is because he thinks holding on would've been enough, for reasons, but he obviously didn't know her true intentions. He didn't want to become a lord, but he did anyway because he believed the one he loved.There's a lot of room for interpretation about the details of the manipulation, but he was likely manipulated. The love wasn't real. It was all a lie. The frenzied flame takes everything from you. Even that. If you want to make it an extra layer of fucked up, just imagine Nanaya being Shabriri the whole time.
