>>98063010>Do you even want them? No, the current models are fine and primarchs are for fags anyways. As are special characters in general.
>>98063010>TQ No, because then you just get more retardation like 30k daemon angron and 40k fulgrim where either their bosses or their arrogance won't let them reuse the same art as baseline that other models have already used so they have to make their own design to justify a new version, which always looks like shit and for some reason in both cases makes them look like trannies.

>>98063752the idea of reward of treachery dreads, let alone a mhara gal, is hilarious. This goes beyond even gal vorvbak (somerthing something they got into a cult and did a ritual), you have to have been such a long term operative that you get interred into a dread and THEN possessed, and then go back to the AL

>>98063784Iirc old emails to forge world about AL Gal Vorbak confirmed that some of the original dudes sent in with Argel Tal that ended up become gal vorbak were AL infiltrators. For stuff like this or other basically impossible infiltrations like knight cenobium though I always just assumed AL would steal the tech necessary to make the machine /armor/weaponry and make a recreation of the actual unit instead of somehow infiltrating a dreadnought into the word bearers possession for them to invite a demon into.
>>98063784It's even worse, the mhara gal are gal vorbak who got fucked up enough to get stuffed in the dreadnought. The reason they had an anti-chaos aura in previous editions was the gods were pissed at them for their failure and denying their soul to the gods so they've got a constant area of lowtiergodding around them from their displeasure.

>>98064116No. Personally I think you shouldnt go too far, that just flat out using chaos marines is both lazy and boring and "not super accurate" because even if they go "somewhat chaos" theyre not full chaos (yet) and shouldnt look like what 41st millenium chaos marines look like. But using chaos parts is totally supported, even before the siege the chaos legions started degenerating in various ways and varioys elements of chaos iconography, mutation, skulls and trophies or whatever else started creeping in.

I've been mulling around the idea of getting into Legions Imperialis and I see they have Mechanicus now, which is exciting, but I'm curious about a few things. Were Forgeworlds still around in the HH era, in a similar way as they are in 40k? I feel like I read something about this in the codex or something at some point, but I've forgotten it. I don't really want to paint all these guys Martian red, and I kind of want to do a HH era different colorscheme for my dudes so I want to know how easy that is to do narratively speaking.
>>98066338All the main Forgeworlds pre-date the Imperium.
>>98065989it's Deflagrate for Vehiclesthe weapons that have it don't even have Deflagrate, what's the problem
>>98066338The biggest difference between 30k mechanicum and 40k admech in terms of forge worlds is skitarii were a mars led thing. The forces you see for mechanicum in heresy are like the feudal levies of an Archmagos. >>98065853Combat Veterans, you're getting redundant Ld unless you go up against a lot of Fear (X) or Titan Honk Honk (X), but your Cl goes up to 11 so you pass 35/36 of your Cool Checks instead of 11/12 (33/36, 92% instead of 97%) since they can only be Routed by Panic (X) now (and will be passing the very few Ld checks they take for Routed 35/36 anyway, probably long before they get in stab range), it's that much simpler to shake off Statuses with Combat Veterans and keep shooting and stamping your way to victory

>>98066696Gotcha thanks
>>98066716WRAP UP: from a gameplay perspective, we were using a few home rules (different WS chart, limit on line scoring per turn, our own terrain rules) and they made the game feel a lot better. The ws change in particular makes ws 4 units a lot less completely dogshit in that a ws4 unit will hit ws5 on 4+ while still being hit back on 3+. We were using a mission from the Istvaan community missions using our own terrain setup and I think it was decently, balanced, final score was 39-34 AL win.Melta Kratos is incredibly powerful, to the surprise of no one. I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of our LoW, they felt evenly matched. Now post your models anon, I've shit up this general long enough.

>>98068813how much?
>>98068801"yes". Terrain is a bit abstract. There is both TLOS (in that if you can physically hide behind a thing and cant be seen, you cant be shot), but also theres the whole "you can only see 3" through medium terrain" thing. So even if you can potentially literally see through say a ruin or forest or whatever? You are assumed to not be able to (because the ruin or forest isnt LITERALLY that shape/small/sparse, its more a representation of "there is ruins and smoke and debris here" which in the "real battlefield" translates to you only being able to see so far into it).So in your example? If its just a wall I can see the dreadnought just fine and it doesent even get a cover save (not that it would benefit from one). If its standing with 3" or more of medium terrain between it and me? I cant see it, because I am assumed to not be looking at just a wall but a whole field of heavy rubble (maybe with smoke and dust and fire and whatever else also in the way). >>98068831£38, £40 with shipping. Thoughts on this repose>>98068817Nah, I can find the Ironclad, but can't find the generic 40k one that isn't tied to any chapter
This maybe a stupid question, but after buying the ventari box there seem to not be enough bodies to build both the pistol+shield and lance guys. Is that like intentional or did I get a box with not enough parts? It feels kind of as strange for a box of 6 dudes to cost as much as a box of 20 dudes, with no left over options.
>>98069260Looks great.
It's crazy how much better HH is compared to 40k
>>98069485Its really not when you realize that the only reason HH 3.0 is better then 40k, is that 40k is such dog shit at the moment. 3.0 HH is IGHT, its got some issue, but over all its an OK game.
>>98068972Dude, you could EASILLY sell it on ebay for double what you paid if you dont like it, its not that hard really, like 90% of the "forge world" shit on there right now is recasts (except all the shit ive been selling, I have a vaults worth of OG shit from back in the early 2010s that has been in storage in a nurgle den for the last close to 20 years).
>>98069659I would feel bad doing that.
>>98069748You just sau straight up that its a recast. Not ALL of them are trying to pass it off as real FW stuff. Usually you can tell by the price, if someones selling a leman russ atlas kit for $50, you know its a recast, if theyre selling them for like $300+ and they dont come with the bag/instructions and the resin is very white looking or brittle as shit, then you know theyre a scammer.

I am looking at the Spartan Prometheus "new" kit and how is the math between the laser array and laser destroyers?
>>98070614Mediocre.
>>98070614Literally never take the array. The destroyer has higher strength, the same damage because you're always getting Heavy, and the lower range never matters because it's still 3 feet.
>>98070805>The destroyer has higher strength, the same damage because you're always getting HeavyNot on a spartan you arent.
>>98070841Nvm I'm retarded, one of my usual opponents always runs his spartan as though it had stable so I had never checked to see if it had it lmfaoThank you anon
>>98070879Stable is for the Kratos and weirdly storm eagle(fire raptor? one of the gunships).
Does anyone have a guide like this but for mechanicum? Doesn't have to be exactly like this but anything to wrap my head around it
>>98070932Actually on the topic of Mechanicum, I have an idea for a paint scheme but no idea if it'd be any good. Basically since the taghmatas are like the feudal levies of an archmagos, I thought of painting my guys akin to something like bretonnia. Not so much the flashy colors but in the sense, but like heraldric and differing schemes on tech priests, and then the lackeys of said priests being painted the same way with the same heraldic crap as their magos/lord. Stupid idea or nah? An example would be like a Reductor Archmagos's armor being painted a certain way, and then all the thallax are painted in the same colors and patyterns, but any tech priests like myrmidons per se would have their armor painted different for each guy. The robes would all be the same (haven't decided the color yet). Is this retarded? I really like the idea but IDK if in execution it'll be any good
>>98070907Without Stable flyers can never get the benefit from the Heavy or Ordnance rules.
>>98070841>>98070879Can we take the array then?
>>98071340They actually can, aerial patrol (they fire as part of the reaction so they get heavy, so the xiphon is fairly potent into other flyers with its twin linked lascannon (two twin linked lascannon?). >>98071355On the spartan? Yes. The lascannon array is lower S, but its higher damage (so that kinda evens out) and longer range making it the overall more utilitarian weapon. D3 flat is just a nice breakpoint.
>>98069173Very nice, does not look as green here.
Finally finished my first dudes in a new color scheme I like. 38 basic infantry and 1 sicaran left for repainting. Can't think out any good markings (want to freehand something in hebrew 'cause it looks cryptic). Suggestions are welcome.
>plasma annihilator >power claw>apocalypse launchers>lucius pattern headis this the peak warlord titan loadout?
Is the Legiones Astartes: Combat Force a good start to 30k? I want to play Blackshields if that helps. I like everything in the box. and want to escape the modern 40k nonsense. I want to use the Rhino and Leviathan for old editions of 40k as well.
>>98071563Twin-turbo lasers and volcano cannons.
>>98071584It's perfectly fine, especially if you like the units in it. 40k really is turning into the gateway drug to HH lmao.
>>98071607One more quick question. Are the Mk VI marines the same size as the Mk IV? A guy at my LGS said there are two sizes of marines in 30k and that the IV are the old size.
>>98071612
>>98071612The Mk IV marines are around 1mm shorter, compared to newer infantry in a similar pose. Personally I don't mind, because in reality individual marines would be different heights too. But to some terminally autistic people even the slightest difference in size between models is a deal breaker.
>>98071642>Person standing up straight looks taller than person doing a power squatSurprised pikachu face dot jpeg
>>98071642>>98071645Thank you. I expected a larger size difference with how dire the LGS guy made it sound.
>>98071645>different heights and proportions>smaller heads>smaller arms and hands>different design to the armour>but stop noticing, you bigot!
>>98071652
>>98071661Much better comparison pic (even though the Mk IV marine is leaning forward too much, which also makes him look smaller)
>>98071645I want to see your Indomitus squad made up of 2e, 3e, Heroes, and 10e terminators.
>>98071654Yeah some people are extremely sensitive about even the slightest size difference these days. Don't know when it started, back in the day especially metal models had a lot of difference in height yet you never heard anybody about it.
>>98071667The question was about marines in power armour, not terminators. Also the 10e 40k terminators are primaris space marines. 40k in general has moved to a larger scale than HH, and primaris space marines are all explicitly made larger than classic space marines. Might as well complain about legion imperialis dreadnoughts being too small compared to HH dreadnoughts, lol.
>>98071612if you really care about the size you will have to proont some legs
>>98071673>these daysIf you look online, you can find blogs and archives of people comparing different historical miniature brands. I know a bunch of people who like their minis to look good next to each other and not have wildly different designs and sizes in the same force.
>>98071677>suddenly he cares about slight height and design difference
>>98071711Pointing out facts isn't the same as caring about them. Me saying it rains outside doesn't mean I care about getting wet.
>>98071695The historical miniature crowd is an even more exotic strain of autistic though. They care about the smallest details, like the number of buttons on a sleeve being incorrect. HH rivet counters are fucking amateurs compared to them.
>>98071736>if you point out that MkIV and VI are not the same size and design, you're overly sensitive autist>if you point out 40k and 30k models are not the same size and design, it's just observing a fact
>>98071767Holy shit dude, you don't have to become such a raging disingenuous troll just because you felt called out. I only said that people who cared too much about a 1mm size difference have terminal autism, get over it. You're only reinforcing the stereotype here.
>Huge surge of newfags asking for tips on starting in HH as the new edition of 40k draws nearI'm sure this means 40k is doing very well.
>>98072050>I'm sure this means 40k is doing very well. While there does seem to be some hopium about 11th, normgroids are getting burnt out by 40k.
>>98072050It is exhausting to come back to 40k only to find out that my armies can be legends'd or outright removed at any time. I put money, time and effort into kitbashing and conversions an GW shits all over it with MOBA style "patching" and "balancing" to sell the newest or worst selling kits.
My local group tried our best with 3.0 but figured out that even with our changes to it 1e was more fun so we ended up going back to 1e. Posting a summary of our changes for those who despite everything want to stay in 3.0:Different WS chart (you hit 1 point above you on a 4+ is the most important aspect)Score at start of turn No scoring primary objectives turn 1 Limit on line scoring per turn (based on point level)Different terrain rulesWe did a bunch more change to individual units (Kratos melta going to D3 and melta 18 for example) but the above is what made the game a lot less dogshit.Just play 1e.
>>98071655Wait, the head and hands are smaller? On the MKIV?What about compared to numkiii/ii? Given the option between a barely 1mm shorter MkIV and the capacity to completely butcher them on a refresh, I'd really rather just get an old mkiv box...
>>98072314No, on all the new plastic marine infantry. So nu-mk 2, 3, and 6. They all got weird small heads and hands, kinda thin looking arms too. Just weird proportions overall.Mk IV still has old size helmets and hands.

For mechanicum should I just hard focus on one high tech arcana/subfaction for the whole army or should I diversify?
>>98072478How big of an army do you want to make?
>>98072490At first, 3k points, but eventually I'd like to expand it to play many different playstyles. Obviously the answer to THAT is to diversify, which is the eventual goal. But, and I should've stated this in my original post, my question is mostly from a 3k list for pick up games with my friends perspective. Beautiful stuff you got there BTW, very nice, what are the custom robots meant to be ran as?
>>98072458Didn't charging units get fight first by default? Wouldn't put it past GW to forget to include that rule for 11th lmao
>>98072478Take 1 Magos in your primary. Then as many skitarri marshals and vulturax as you can in your infinity allied detachments.
>>98072511>infinity allied detachments. You can have more than one?>Then as many skitarri marshals and vulturax as you canNot really looking for the best optimal choice, or whatever this is meant to be. I'm mostly wondering what's common sense in list building cuz right now I think a 3k list should have multiple of the mechanicum subfactions but I could be TOTALLY wrong. If you aren't shitposting, why does this build work?
>>98072496>what are the custom robots meant to be ran asDecimators snd blood slaughterers, fluffed as xenos derived abominable intelligences rather than chaos corrupted. As for your question, any arcana other than Cybernetica is not really meant to be run solo, cybernetica obviously had had the most support from FW so they can't have most roles covered in a self contained list. All the other arcana are basically 1-2 units each. For me, I built mine by grouping some arcanas together: cybernetica, reductor + macrotek, laecrymata + myrmidax, archinandrite + daemon engines, etc.
>>98072534My current list has a Reductor Archmagos (cuz i like thallax), Lacrymaerta Magos to go with 20 tech thrallsand hopefully buff some usurax, and a macrotek abeyant magos cuz I wanna buff tanks. Then I have 3 tech priests, one lacrymaerta to go with another 20 tech thralls and one macrotek to buff another tank, and then a cybernetica priest to buff some castellax. IDK how coherent any of this is, your groupings seem more coherent desu
>>98072465Not different to make the game better, diferent to justify the new edition
>>98072515As many allies detachments as you want but they all can't be more than 50% of your army's points
>>98072490Can you play with the mechanicum without tech-thralls? i really really like the look of the robots but i don't want to run hordes.
>>98072572Yes.
>>98072561Gotcha, thanks
>>98072095What makes 1.0 rules (crunch) better than 3.0 in your opinion? I got my own ideas, but I want to hear yours
