>>
>>98086397
Let's just say the filename of >>98086293 I fully agree with. For many, Marathon as an extraction shooter was a very, very bad idea. Not just if the IP fits it but it's just the flavor of the month genre and they're delusional to think it has staying power. Humorously, they tried getting Tarkov players to try it, not understanding the crazy sunken cost fallacy of Tarkov players, and none said they'd play it. According to angry D2 fans, they think tons of resources for their game was redirected to Marathon at a moment D2 was doing well, thus killing the next expansion which the game never recovered from. You know that old saying about protecting everything = protecting nothing? Bungie wanted an unlikely best case win of having both ongoing and big but merely gutted one for the other.
>>
>>98086386
This is what could happen if marines had one codex with a bunch of extra rules for chapters. Instead they have to write and balance all these separate books and by the time they've finished the first founding the edition is over and they have to redo them
>>
>>98086403
A lot of the imperial armour books showed off their new kits in campaigns and warzones, and since a lot of the old forge world guys loved modern military history they were chock full intricate battle map breaks downs and details.
It was also the fact that pretty much all of these type of conflicts were just normal campaigns that happen in the background, so there was much fanfare around certain big named characters showing up if even they did, and there was no fate of the galaxy at stake, just conflicts that arise from the flow of the galaxy.

So yeah the white mask skull jaw over black mouth cover scarf is seen as problematic and gw didn’t remove the skull motif helms despite them probably knowing.

Bungie (Destiny developer) announced today that they're going to take Destiny 2 out to pasture.
They were bought out by Sony a couple years ago and nothing to show for it aside from burning money and putting on a floundering extraction hero-shooter.

I think that Bungie will probably end up getting turned into a support studio, eventually squeak out one more game which depending on reception will result in the studio getting completely dissolved.

Said to be a renaissance man among primarchs by primarch standards.

If you think of perty as a paranoid mentally unwell genius that can burst into anger then it starts to make sense. Not by much as far as I know.

He was probably also fumbled badly by the Black Library writers alongside being inconsistent so part of his appeal may be how he could have been written better.

My favorite depiction of big pert is when he played a wargame with honsou.
He seemed calm and even admitted to letting his emotion get the better of him.
But I doubt Honsou will appear again in 40k lore. Probably dies off screen.
Because the writer doesn’t work for gw anymore as far as I know.

What did pert and the iw do in the latest campaign books?

He should have been written like a gestalt of millions of suicided psykers like his original origin story, instead they made him human. He should have been a shapeshifting biomantic master of light and darkness, capable of seeing the future with unerring accuracy. Being bound on the throne should have been his master plan all along, to bring himself into a deathless state where his mind is suspended in the warp to become a literal god of undeath. Like a giga-lich. When he gets off the throne he shouldn't regenerate his flesh either, he should be a massive cyborg skeleton wreathed in a cloak of darkness with a radiant psychic halo.

That's the problem. It just looks to be a Bolter with just a revolver system. Theoretically, jams are no problem cycling and you could open the cylinder and swap out bolts instead of unloading the gun, getting the chambered round out, then loading a new one, but that's just from being a revolver system. I don't know where's the Shotgun in Bolt Shotgun.

Given the votann having some human heritage like dark of technology stuff you’d think the mechanicus would be in a mad dash to search, siege and seize everything the votann have for research.
Maybe the votann cores get said to be stcs?
Mechanicus already do loads of research on necron tomb worlds.
You would think they would prioritize the votann higher just on the small human ancestry connection alone.

Also pic related is reminded because of those images of votann weapons.

The price is hiked by a comical amount.

>>98086700
The knowledge of non-Imperium human civilization is suppressed knowledge as far as I know, with only high level officials only being marginally aware that the history that is taught isn’t real. Members of the Admech that know the truth behind the Leagues of Votann probably would also know about the AI and deem it not worth it. On the other hand, the Necrons have achieved the wet dream of every Magos and fully transformed themselves into machines but with their original minds. Sure there’s details that make it very much not what the Admech would actually want, but the Heresy is so much more worth it to have their tech.

OP's diorama is how new players picture warhammer 40k. But the truth is it's boring and tedious. The board is tiny. Games are only a few turns. Takes forever to do anything. Have to measure everything. Dice are boring. Cost a shit load of money. Have to paint the toys on top of it. What a fucking waste. You never have cool battles like that picture. It's just a few squads having a skirmish and firing across the table.

You're retarded. The issue with the leagues is that their basic aesthetic is the lego moon playset. Nasapunk looks like shit. The Eldar in comparison are still haughty elves and have a very distinct, vaguely organic look except for instead of bark it's bone. Distinctly alien where the leagues look like StarCraft and very mundane contemporary space tech with dwarf runes.

If the Exodites have their own codex, I would argue that would happen. 40k in general is very divergent with Khaine being mainly a Dark Elf thing while Asuryan is where High Elf call more., the Imperium hating xenos rather than the Empire seeing Elves and Dwarfs as trusted allies, the Empire itself is almost more Tau the way they're also one of the setting's most technologically advanced armies but not the most.

They need to be MORE Destiny and not less. The biggest problem about the Leagues of Votann is they aren't Destiny enough. They need to worship their machines with a priestly class about communicating with them. They need to have all their fighting force be from DNA spliced from patterns of the best martial artists of a bygone era. They need to have giant drills be their idea of research. Well the complaining has resulted in an op posting an alternative rules section in the op a while ago.
Maybe those rules will address most of your concerns?
As for wanting larger battles epic Armageddon might be what you’re looking for.
I know I’m looking for the stls to cover all the original armies.

>inb4 Horus heresy legions imperialis
I’m not sure if that game has been a success rules and model wise.
But I do believe that GW sent epic to the Horus heresy shed in fear that if it was a 40k setting game with 6-10mm models it would get more popular than 28mm 40k rules and models wise.
So they kept it 30k era to prevent that.

I believe what I said there but I have no proof.

My thoughts are that given it's a rotating edge, there's no
>my front is getting dull so I'll flip use the back
If the enemy's resisting it then full-blade means you can't push on the back of the chainsword blade to shove it in, all the leverage and control is from the grip. Theoretically, if you're impaling an enemy then more edge being spinning blades means it'd cut more but that also means greater chance of snagging.

Should big chainswords have extra grips on the mid or upper section of the back of the blade?

>>98086882
some imperiumfag secondaries are retards and take the one instance of a black hole gun on an arch mechanicus to mean that DAoT humanity was more advanced than both the eldar and necrons combined. Yes, humanity used to have some cool tech, but the current dark eldar steal suns for fun, the necrons can still use the stellar orrery to destroy star systems at will, and the eldar still have access to the webway which is a criminally understated advantage when theusual 40k FTL method actively tries to kill (you).

Who's the writer? Nuance is beyond the scope of the hacks at the Black Library, who seem to have made the diactic binary assumption that if the Imperium is "very backward" then the DAoT must be "super advanced". BL authors have exaggerated the DAoT into omnipotent Science God technowank that'd make the friggin' Culture blush.

Funnily enough though, the actual Design Team seem to be dialling back some of BL's excesses - for instance, note that Robots like the Kastelan, UR-025 etc. tend not to be just T1000 clouds of nanomachines that can resconstitute you at whim by are rounded but still clanky Forbidden Planet/Lost In Space-esque pulpy Raygun Chic in style - science-positive, but not physics-finishing invincible.

They're fast enough to lop off your head or grab the flat back of a chainsword without any grip present if they can pull that off. A tough enough enemy might destroy the Chainsword that way. >>
>>98086967

Because a handle, y'know the things designed for easier gripping, would make it 10x easier to pull off that maneuver and maintain grip doing so. >>
>>98086981

Why would it be easier when it's facing you & away from the enemy? It's not in an easy area to grip in the first place & if they could, they could also grab or attack the back of a chainsword to attempt destroying it or just attack you directly.

Harlequins are so fast that they'd pull it off anyway or just go for the enemy's head.

They take all the classic dwarf tropes and evolve them into a sci-fi setting in really cool ways.
Dwarves are known for their supreme craftsmanship. In a setting with genetic modification and AI, the break down the barrier between themselves and their craft. They make themselves with as much care as they make anything else, and their creations are as intelligent as they are.
Dwarf society is based on respect for ancestors and the old ways. So in the far future their society is run by a computer that is the agglomeration of all the knowledge of their ancestors.

But this is 40k. Everything needs a one sentence explanation of how badass they are. The Leagues as a concept are just too subtle and thoughtful.

Started with runelord brass coat, then glazed in layers moving towards the barrel end; 1:1 mix mephiston red / alaitoc blue, 1:2 mix of the above, thinned black contrast, then non-thinned same.

The black contrast I used was Vallejo Xpress black Lotus thinned with Xpress medium, but you'd probably get something similar out of citadel black templar contrast.

Though I think Krieg weapons are locked into the Krieg army so no heavy stubbers or heavy flamers for cadian armies.
I think gw might do this for Catachans too.

Are the Krieg stubbers and big flamers actually effective or at the least fun?

Methinks the possibility of a player getting permadeathed in standard open world gameplay is too much. If it was a singleplayer game like Elder Scrolls, Far Cry, or CP2077 then they wouldn't need to justify respawn mechanics.

Tau were new when /tg/ was created. That's not to say things aren't hated for other reasons than being new, though, just that new things are always hated, unless it's from a video game, in which case the wave of secondaries it brings to /tg/ will declare it the most based thing ever.

DAoT is when the STCs were made. The Great Crusade was basically DAoT humanity reestablishing itself, sans AI, before everything went to shit. So there's some interesting things about it but it's also a nothingburger in other respects.
The DAoT is to the Imperium what Rome was to the middle ages. Our dark ages were more like the Age of Strife.

Imo, all it needed was to have the player be low light. Maybe a mechanic of gathering light/slow recharge to give limited respawn? Checkpoints work as well, of course. Dunno honestly, I checked out of D2 after the Vaulting of the original content. Being locked out of most of the game story content outside of the new expansion story on Europa sucked. The ice power expansion was new and the powers so OP that the PvP was made P2W due to it.

Space marine 2 made me appreciate the precious plastic cadians more because their design was fine the models just needed better benefits from modern sculpting techniques.
Maybe the kill team blooded traitor guard models were supposed to be that update but got repurposed.
If true it would be a bit odd with the winged skulls taken off of the spiked helm is anything to go by.

Darktide made me like autoguns. But the autoguns in darktide look too “functional and expensive” like they may actually work and they don’t look very cheap and mass producible.
It’s just a matter of personal taste they still look fine and I understand if someone loves their designs.

I do like the chaos guard in darktide. Makes me question how much of an effective fighting force (in 40k lore they’re chumps in game) they were before their corruption.

Also darktide made me like ogryns from the funny names players seem to give.
I want ogryns to have autocannons or heavy bolters or heavy multi lasers now after seeing them use the heavy twin linked stubber.

I’m not sure if the moebian 6th chain axe used is a post chaos or pre chaos unit. But maybe it is better left unexplained as it might take away the coolness.

The 40k imperial navy needs more legend of the galactic heroes. Especially their ship fighting formation tactics.

>But the Middle Ages rediscovered and even advanced further.
The Imperium is probably like 75% of the way there desu. They can wage war on a galactic scale, there's the occasional supertech that can't be replicated and the Mechanicus made innovation glacial, but it's not like the Imperium are techno-barbarians.
Note that Space Marines were made before unification with Mars and are in fact an innovation that wasn't present in the DAoT.

I plan to see how many of those storm section models I can put on an ogryn sized base. How many at most most likely?
But most importantly.
Tomboys if the redhead girl of the later season and the bishounen German blonde boy’s wife count.

But seriously maybe the logh space ship formation based combat wouldn’t work in 40k. I’m not sure if imperial navy’s efficiency is allowed to be that intelligent to have that kind of stuff. Because imperium gotta imperium in 40k.
>>
>>98087218
Personally I wouldn't do a multi stage glazing operation on the barrel of every gun in a horde army. I only did it on this gun because it's a Melta, and Melta just doesn't feel right without a charred barrel to me.

I looked at thumbnails and got an llm to give me a brief summary of what's typically done, then just went ahead. If you've done much glazing or blending before, it's just that with different ingredients.

If you haven't done that much before, I'd advise priming up a used sprue and practicing on that, before you dive into a real model. It's getting the right consistency of the thinning, and getting the push/drag of the glazing right, that is the hard bit. The ingredients are less important than the technique. Maybe tutorials on glazing in general would be more useful to you, than ones about this very specific scenario.

I love ogryn funny names.
Even if they don’t make me laugh they make me grin.
Best I can do is “code name alias” style names that carries a theme or something that relates to the class’s name.

There are what like, 25 or so warbonds out now? It's a bit more than 30 bucks worth, do the maths. Al you say *yet* as if people haven't been doing cheat table shit for years, AH clearly has no way of flagging it or no desire to issue bans. The amount of people using cheat tables is likely miniscule compared to the amount of normies and kids shelling out for SC. Lore question for an uninformed passer by. Saw a short saying the war for Armageddon is reaching another peak and the plot is Ghazghkull is going to teleport his WAAAH and surrounding as many other WAAAHs nearby onto Armageddon. Would this prompt Exterminatus as an option or is the planet too important?

If what I have seen is correct by Krak Duck I would assume the planet is pretty important, and they are already sending the Marines in to clean house, but I was curious if that was on the table. Seems like a rare opportunity to send Orks back to their stone age without their green messiah and the biggest bulk of their armies. I would a never ending battlefield probably isn't producing much for the imperium.

Again, I am just a curious and ignorant of the lore, but I think it's cool. Been adding a handful of books to my backlog..
>>
>>98087360
I don't buy all of the warbonds, I have maybe a little over half of them, and about a third of those from regular gameplay SC drops. Even if I did, the sum total wouldn't break into four digits.
It's just even a vanishingly small risk isn't worth it to me when the savings are so inconsequential and the consequences of the low risk actually being realised would be awful.

Just learned of the rlm and fs color indexes for historical colors. I can shop with confidence more knowing if an acrylic paint company goes out of business I can switch to another historical paint company and use their paints and the tones and shades will be very similar unlike fantasy acrylic colors like citadel, armypainter and p3 paints.

First off, orks are everywhere. It's been the one constant of the game going back to the early days, so blowing up this one, admittedly quite successful warlord isn't going to screw them up quite as much as you'd think.
Staying with orks, never say never (and the intro to Space Marine 1 brings up planet-killing almost casually) but Exterminatus doesn't seem to be quite as much a go-to option with them compared to say, Tyranids or Chaos; the former because it's their literal economy, the latter for spiritual reasons, and even then it remains a hell of a thing to authorise. Literally scorched earth policy. At least with orks theres likely to be some sort of planet to re-conquer.
Lastly, there's symbolism here (in universe). Armageddon has been held up as a shining example of heroism and human supremacy against the vile xenos. Renowned heroes have risen and often fallen there. If you consider that the whole original campaign can be boiled down to "the studio boys wanted to do Operation Barbarossa in 40k", and then think how Stalingrad became such a symbolic focus for both sides IRL, that might give a bit more insight into the thinking here.
>>
>>98087295
I was partially making a joke as to how it's a chapter with a no-no symbol (lightning bolt), bad behaviour, and the very people who claim 40K is a satire would be the first ones to drop it.
I saw a yellow skin in space marine 2 and thought "Oh I know that one", then it wasn't them, so I opened an old parchment to refresh myself as to what I got wrong. I don't recall seeing them being referenced in a codex since a while before primaris, which was a long time ago.
>>
>>98087439
>joke
I didn’t get the joke sorry.
I must be autistic.

>yellow skin
Oddly enough that reminded me of the space marine 2 Gadriel character.
People were making Asian jokes.
Maybe he was meant to be Asian but for some reason the devs decided not to and to save time just changed hair and eye color.
Maybe he was chosen to be Asian to cash in on the kpop Korean boy chasing trend to get sales from women? Then the decision was dropped? One could only guess.

I don’t know if the marines malevolent have much attention. Probably bordering on “glup shitto” status if the bar is very low for that for nerds these days.

Haven't you heard, anon? Evil characters are problematic. The audience is not supposed to like them, so the writers will make them suck cock and eat shit so you know they are not to be liked
>>
>>98087462
I can’t wait for the imperium to be objectively the good guys forced to do bad things together and everything bad is just results of being worn down by 10k years of galactic scale war with this logic applied.

But really if I wanted a villain to be evil and cruel I would have him so the worst and say problematic slurs.
We might be heading for the day when deliberately offensive stuff like that is shock value tier like 80s and 90s bands using satanic imagery for shock value if we aren’t already there yet.

Maybe that is the draw of 40k to newcomers.

I think so too but that game has the shark/atlantis themed marines which are very much gluppies. Though I'm surprised the chaos marines have basically nothing, especially since the first game had quite a few legion-neutral armour variants.

Similarly hearing them constantly say "Oh farming credits is easy!" whenever you say your stash isn't really growing before they start saying "My time is worth more than this, I'm just going to pay for it!" is incredibly disheartening. Does anyone have the pages for this really old book, 'Da Art of Waaagh'?

Trying to look for them.

Trying to look for them.

In particular, the pages for Siege Drill Wagon, Krawla, Steam Gargant, Landa, and Krooza Strike are what I am missing and looking for.

It definitely existed, but I cannot find the whole thing at all. And things like the Krawla, Siege Drill Wagon, etc., do not even have pages in any of the wikis. (these things actually have unit descriptions, judging by the Slasha Gargant page floating around somewhere in pinterest)

Particularly interested in the Krawla and Siege Drill Wagon, and whatever they are and what little text they might have, assuming someone has the pages on them.

A longshot, but I really do not know where to look.

If you make "regular" compaigns super interesting and high intensity, then it actually elevates the rest. GW wants to capture the hype with "galaxy shaking events", but since they are not great at it, it has the opposite effect and undermines the rest: it's the big happening, so anything else cannot be as important/intense.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not about the paintstyle. If I paint an oldhammer marine in a grimdark style, it's gonna look off and not as good as a if brightly colored.

This, FW took it further. But FW style is very much a consequence to that era; it was a niche people were asking for.

In addition to what everyone else has said, their biggest problem from a writing perspective is that they lack interesting problems.

Their only real problem is that their PCs are slowing down and they don't know how to fix them. But you can't really write interesting stories with that.
Otherwise, they're good or decent at everything:
>Good Chaos resistance
>But still have pskyers
>High tier technology **and** know how to innovate
>High population thanks to clones and robots
>AI that doesn't go insane or try to take over and is treated like equals
>Fairly reasonable when it comes to making alliances, avoiding needless fights, bargaining for what they want, etc
>Kin live good lives with good community who treat them well, if a bit frugal

ADB, if you're here reading this, give the Votann some interesting downsides.

Make them dig too deep in the galactic core and accidentally unleash horrors on themselves.
Make them hold grudges to an irrational degree and do stupid things for revenge, like Fantasy dwarfs.
Make their AIs get Chaos corrupted and paranoia spreads through the Votann society.
Stuff like that.

It's perfectly fine power level wise. It's just needlessly restrictive for a faction that already doesn't have a lot of options. Like they have 6 Detachments, one of which is not even confirmed to be surviving to 11th, two of which are going to be 3DP and unable to be combined, and then they made all three 1 point Detachments not allowed to combine with the one existing Detachment that could benefit from them the most. The detachment rules themselves are also a slap in the face for a faction that struggles to kill monsters and vehicles making all the rules only work on killing infantry that they are already good at killing. And then the enhancements are literally just copies of the existing Detachments they already have, so they just got their codex Detachments again but nerfed enough to be allowed to combine them.
Only the covens one is really good all around for making pain engines not total ass and the Wych one might see some play of it can be combined with Skysplinter for Lethals+Lance

>>98087973
>people actually tie their hobby experience to this

>they lack interesting problems.
in order to have those we would need more groundwork regarding their history and actual way of working

for example we know that they have maintained their relations with the men of iron since the daot, but that raises huge questions regarding the how's and why's, especially if we discard the most straightforward and boring possibilities for more interesting avenues
>they didn't survive together, the robots won and then began cloning fleshbags because they needed souls to power the network of warp beacons to navigate
this changes little but reframes their society under a bleak existential horror story that they are not even aware of
>coexistence was only achieved because the squats actively prevent the robots from becoming a hive-mind singularity by severing their robotic communications
this meanwhile creates an internal tension between the equality they profess and the oppressive means they have to use to maintain it, it also creates room for an internal police that hunts down subversive robots that try to grow past their bounds as well as subfactions of said rogue robots

and as the latest introduced factions, and with codexes devoid of timeline sections, we have no history with them with notable campaigns or interactions with the other factions, multiple events with the admech are sorely needed, ones with necrons, eldar, orks and tyranids go without saying

Extremely sad and an anti-thesis of what warhammer is.
Funny enough, games like MtG are actually fun if you play fun decks that aren't combo shit with people who aren't combo/comp fags.
Combo/metal/comp fags ruin everything, because they dilute a game into numbers.

My brother who is a huge combofag compared it to F1 racing; he talked about all the times they pushed and abused the rules with crazy techniques and did anything they could to get better performance and thus an unfair advantage.
Didn't mention anything about the racing itself.
That for me defines and explains what's wrong with them: they are playing a different game on the back of an existing game. The point is not the game itself, what's fun for them is pushing the rules and getting the most unfair advantage.
At the end of a game of 40k, he doesn't look back at the cool moments of the battle, he's only jerking the other guy off on his tactics/army building/combo fagging.

Thank you for reading my blog.

>>
>>98087883
absolutely this, you can make a very serious argument that the most defining traits of a faction in warhammer are its flaws and Votann have too little to really feel like they have a real flavor to them. It's bad enough that back when they first came out if I took a break from warhammer for a few months I would genuinely completely forget that they existed because they had nothing that made them stick in my mind.

a large set of tabletop dorks don't even really care about games and just want a vehicle to roleplay and play with action figures but in a more socially acceptable manner for a 3X year old. which is fine but a lot of those people get irrational if you tell them you play games for the gaming aspects

>Balance
It's not about balance. You can easily balance a game by mirroring it.
Balance itself only matters in that poor balance CAN lead to frustration, aka "not fun".

Waacfag don't expose shit, in fact metaniggers are always a negative as they force everyone to adapt to them.

It's the same as the old story of the lady who tried drying her cat in her microwave oven.
>It didn't say I shouldn't do it!
>Well I guess that exposes how lacking the user manual of the microwave oven is!

A well-crafted game is not actually fun to play when someone is trying their hardest to win, because as stated above you're force to play a different/specific game.
If you're gonna be a waacfag, own it, don't act like you're noble knight helping everyone when you're just here for yourself and your little ego.

The problem is that Da Vinci is great because he did it without computers and other ultra fancy tools we got today. You have many people who make art more beautiful and intricate than the mona lisa today, yet they are not as talented as Da Vinci.
Da Vinci also wasn't just a painter, he was a thinker. It's easy to paint well if all you're doing is painting, learning and improving. But Da Vinci was so much more.
Are there modern Da Vincis out there? Of course. But you'll never hear of them, since they won't be known by what they produce, as it's drowned in a sea of high quality art.

Yes, that unit that costs 135 points for a subpar damage output T3 5W paper plane that you need to build your army around to get value out of.
You're way way WAY better off just taking a second warp spider unit in 1k (warp spiders atm are also overpriced for what they do btw).

I mean, you definitely factor that and the +1 to wound into their damage discussion when talking about effectiveness into hard targets. Potential uses are a big part of unit viability, even if they depend on strategems or specific situations to get the most out of them.

orks already have more than enough for a "knights" army, between killa kans, deff dreads, the new mek walker, the nauts, the stompa and the the head scenery piece

tyranids have all manners of monsters and they would just need one multikit for a knight-sized biotitan

the eldar wraithknight is prime material for upgrade sprues and if they add a bright stallion kit for exodites and update the war walker they are pretty much set

tau have more than enough big combat suits and it's alright if they're slightly on the smaller side in their case

the imperial guard could be the weird one by offering tanks instead of walkers, with russes, dorns and baneblades

necrons are the standout amongst the big factions, gw doesn't seem to want to give them big walkers, forge world tried, but the largest non-monolith thing they get is the stalkers

Not all laac players are bad to play against. There is this dad with a half old hammer army in my store who brings his box nauts to every game and wins like 1 in 5 games but still consistently finds games and people are both usually happy to nerf their armies to match him and just be around him.

He does teaching games to kids and newfags too. He's just a pleasent guy to game with. He paired up with our most competitive waacfag player in the doubles tournament too as a way of balancing each other.

People are genuinely smart enough to know what type of game they are getting into, though occasionally he does get tabled in 2 turns by someone bringing a netdecked meta list.

He is genuinely a laacfag though, you really have to bring the kid gloves to have a good game with him.

I have won 1 (one) game in 10th because I tend to forget core rules like "you can just send your guys through terrain, you don't have to go around it." Likewise, I find that in some situations I forget to shoot with units.
I beat a GSC player once because my board has so much shit that she couldn't find anywhere to do her deployment shit she was planning (and I only beat her by a few points). My last game was 70-21.

??? Like, I know what your complaint is about but that's not what is happening here, they've been doing it this way specifically for the starter box contents for ages because they want to sell them as something people can have a contained experience with, if they want. Every time they've included rules for a model in an edition starter set, it's just been for how that model is presented in the box set. It was the same way the last time Orks featured in a starter set, 18 years ago. The unit rules they put in that box are for convenience, not as a product that is being sold for long term use, you already know the codex is coming to supplant it.
