ATTN. anon who asked for scans of that one page from WD82 last thread.I did what I could. Picrel was cropped from a 600 DPI scan. Linkrel has the slightly less cropped scan. The top left corner of the page is a little blurry because I wasn't willing to dismantle my copy of WD82 and my scanner was too small to get the entire magazine to fit properly. Sorry. >>98104872Shit happens. I once lost a single model, and proceeded to lose 75% of my army before I even got to move. It was hilarious at the time because it was just a horrible string of terrible roles. it was in 6th edition, and I was playing bretonnia vs tomb kings. His turn was pretty much nothing except for a screaming skull catapult that launched killed a single knight in my generals/bsb's unit. He had the skulls of the foe upgrade that forced a panic test. I fail, I reroll thanks to the bsb, I fail again, They flee, since this is the bus formation they're only 5 inches from the edge, I roll their flee but they miraculously stay on the table. I go to my turn, I go to rally them, however they fail to rally and they flee off the table, The presence of panicked enemies nearby cause my other two knight lances to roll panic test. both had paladins, both fail, both run off the board. the men at arms pass with double ones, the bowmen all flee and run, so in the end I was left with a small unit of grail knights and unit of men at arms, all my magic and actual hitting power had fled, and then I got to start my turn one.

So, any predictions for where ToWs story will go next? It has to be building up to the battle of Kislev with Magnus, but will that be the finale in a few years or will it happen before the next edition and then we get a time skip to another big event that happened between the great war against Chaos and Storm of Chaos? inb4 dead game
>>98105495>skip to It’s not skipping to anything. They’re gonna keep the drag on the “narrative” as slow as they can ala Horus heresy.
>>98105505>It’s not skipping to anything. They’re gonna keep the drag on the “narrative” as slow as they can ala Horus heresy. This, we've got some fucking bullshit with Settra and the welves dicking around in Athel Loren to get through first
How would you like to play a game with the Perry Twins and other legends in their world renowned Wargaming Room?
>>98103403RAA ROOO
>>98105505>>98105550I think the TK vs WE narrative is coming first, but I assume for second editiont hey will do a time skip to Chaos marching on Kislev. Assuming their plan is to release Kislev with 2.0 and not prior to it. We still aren't sure if we are on a 3 year cycle.
>>98105665They could release Kislev whenever they want. They aren’t beholden to lore they don’t give a shit about.
>>98105495I'm not super up to date with TOW lore, but isn't there that Norscan witch that's terrorising the Westerlands that needs to be dealt with and have her narrative arc finished first? Considering where they plopped her on the map it would also make sense for them to tie in a Marienburg AJ that deals with the whole merchants taking power in the city, which conveniently happens around this time. Other than that a lot probably depends on internal GW politicking as to which of the 2 game systems gets which armies and such. Probably never going to happen but it would be cool if they somehow squeezed in more Kurgan and Ungol content as the Norscans get kicked out of the Empire and Asvar Kull's forces start becoming a thing, but I doubt GW can be bothered to care.
>>98105658What battle are they even playing out here? The netherlands or the VOC against... Uruguay? Modern Greece? Who is that?
>>98105678As seen with other games GW doesn't want to release too many products at once, even if they have them ready, because they want them to compete with each other in sales. Release a few starters, maybe two armies, then wait for the sales to pour in, release some units for another army, wait, etc. Casuals will grab what they need, whales will grab everything if you space it out.
>>98105678Obviously lore is a means to selling models just like any other miniature/wargame/tabletop game company. But that being said, it would make the most sense to move the narrative forward and release Kislev so that the spotlight is on Kislev as a place and faction during its release. They could surely make really good money pumping out Kislev arcane journals that flesh it out every few months, I know I would buy them all. I assume many others would as well. I personally can't wait to paypig out fully on Kislev.
>>98105658I don't do much of celebrity worship, but if they're chill old grogs then sure, the table looks cool. Speaking of celebrities, if they ever made a WFB movie or TV show you either have to cast it with nobodies or bring in said celebrities, and as much shit as Henry is getting for that "king of the nerds" reddit cringe shit he has the perfect chin to play Karl.

>>98102430New Orc boys. They're pretty ugly looking and both Black Orcs and Boar Boyz put them to shame. A new Boys kit would also cover like 1/4th the army rules.
>>98105727Dwarf holds in the path of Settra's advance did stuff by sallying out to harry the TK forces. It's partly why they are going into Athel Loren, to try and find enough magic to reraise their diminished/damaged legions.
>>98105791Orcs and Goblins seem pretty neglected in TOW in terms of releases
>>98105802Probably because they have such a massive range, and 90% of the stuff holds up really well imo. Only the old ass boar (from the chariots not the boar boyz ) and the old ass wolves need to be redone ASAP. The rest is fine imo.
>>98105798But the Dwarf Holds of the Vaults are pretty minor factions compared to the major holds like Zhufbar or Karak Norn.Karak Izor is the biggest, but it's an overall small faction in the larger Settra vs Brettonia plotline
>>98105807There's some clunkers other than the ones you mentioned, as this anon>>98102901said the big unz being old ass metal models is weird. I also think all of the tOW goblins are really showing their age much worse than the Orcs, although everyone uses the "AoS" Night Goblins so that's less of an issue. I have to say personally I was really skeptical of any potential tOW OnG refreshes but after seeing the new 40K Orks I'm hopeful again.
>>98105807>>98105818Really, I just hate how the old orcs are posed like Gorillas in a neutral poses rather than more so like hunchbacks. I don't mind Big 'Uns not having a particular mini because I use Savage Orcs as mine, but it's still a problem.

>>98105969>>98105950Read the actual lore in KOTG, it's not an Empire outpost. The local knight went to the Empire during his errantry, performed many gallant deeds and assembled a following of locals. Once he received land back in Bretonnia, he brought his new friends back along with him and hammered out a charter that allows them to live more or less with the same rights they had in the Empire. Beyond just being a cool footnote and travelling stop for your Empire PCs tired of being stuck in frog-gobbler country and wishing for some real ale and sausages, it also serves as a cool example of what you can do when a player stops playing a character and they transition into a recurring NPC.Also if >>98105950 and >>98105936 are the same poster, do note that TOWRPG takes place about 400 years before the WFRP 2e, which is the setting the KOTG sourcebook is set in. This isn't really important for Sigmarsheim, which if anything is more plausible during an era of complete state collapse in the Empire, but does impact a lot of other shit, like all of the dukes and king not being born yet. If you care about keeping your games period accurate.

>>981061842% was 2024. 2025 it was at 1.5%, and in 2026 we're at 0.6%.
>>98106184They are a third party store that sells at GW prices. I believe their sales are bad, because I checked on the Shop app and they were the last stores in Canada to have Cathay Battalions during the first wave, and also the last to have marauder reinforcement sets. There's literally no reason to buy TOW/GW products full price from anyone other than GW, who will give you better support if something goes wrong. Otherwise obviously buy with the 15-20% discount.
>>98106184Let's be frank, ToW is a system where you straight up need only one box of each thing in your army. If you're say the Empire you don't need additional core infantry box or a second tank if you buy the battalion box. Greatswords? One box, because who needs more than 20. And the Empire is a semi-horde army at that. So no wonder the sales aren't there, there's not much to buy for most old factions as they're past the "let's keep making up new units every year to for new sales" phase of GW (unlike say cathay), and most boxes are filled up to the brim with plastic. And honestly, that's a good thing for us for now, but bad for GW so the game might die again which obviously, would be bad for us in the long run if you want to play a popular living system.
>>98106211That's a normal thing, according to ex GW employees something like 80% of lifetime revenue of a kit is made within 2 months of its release. The problem is that outside Cathay there's been almost nothing new for TOW for half a year.

Meanwhile historical companies thrive because old grogs will buy a box of standard French line infantry 100 times in a row because their hobby is collecting, growing larger and larger armies, enjoying painting, etc. Finally complete an entire 1:1 battalion of the 37th ligne? Time to start painting another 100 boxes to create the 15th légère!
>>98106285Ive been to the UK too and it seemed like two different world, between large urban areas and the British countryside. Canada was weird because even in the most remote areas there was endless pajeets stinking up the place. At least in the UK the brownies are mostly relegated to urban areas, but indeed the UK has much more dystopian laws
>>98106286>gw really shot themselves in the foot; they should do what these "thriving" other companies do who are 1/100th the size of gw!
>>98106057>Read the actual lore in KOTGI have, and I have to say. The first sentence seems quite simple and clear.Really seems like an Empire town ipso facto .
>>981063021/100th of the revenue, but with 1-3 employees vs GWs 3500 employees. Anyways, it's a non argument. Quality vs quantity, wherever you stand on that depends says a lot about you
>>98106322My opinion on quality vs quantity has nothing to do with the discussion, we're talking about financials here.
>>98106211It's that way with every one of their products though except for some specific bullshittery like a recent change in Tau making one of the unit boxes cost double basically. They went from 5 min unit size to 10 min unit size but they only sell them in boxes of 5.So long as the sales make a profit though, it will continue. Bloodbowl must be a miniscule portion of sales, but its so simple and cheap to produce i bet it makes good profits.

>>98106368How would you feel if you didn't have breakfast this morning?
>perryfag just pulling out numbers from his ass againModels or fuck off. You know the rules.
>>98106286It's a young hobbyist problem, not a rule problem. You said it yourself: Grogs are the ones who want to collect a thousand models, be they riflemen or chaos warriors or space marines because they already have an army they can play with and now have the time to work on vanity projects. Young hobbyists want to play the game and to do that they need a functional and varied army.Buying and painting 300 empire swordsmen does not a functional and varied army make. Young, in this context, does not necessarily mean age, but rather time spent on the hobby. I've been collecting my 5th ed chaos army for six years now. The models are still older than I am, but I'm now able and willing to locate, purchase, assemble, and paint 200 chaos warriors largely because I have an army that I can play games with. Chaos warriors are still bad. The correct amount of them to bring in a list is still 0. And yet, I desire them, and I could not possibly desire them more even if they were immensely strong.
>>98106247remember that time warhammer fantasy went like 10 years without a release? lol. nobody actually likes fantasy except a handful of old nards, all the sales are just other games buying them for conversions and proxies. the game itself is industrial grade new player repellent, most units are unaesthetic as fuck, shit never gets updates, and GW doesnt want to invest more into it because there doesnt seem to be any interest in it in the first place, no matter how much a few influencers try to shill it. shits a zombie game hanging on by the thinnest thread of manufacturing necromancy, trying to squeeze the last few ounces of sales they can out of those old mould blocks before they throw them away to make room for the 10000 other mould blocks they have to store for 40ks weekly releases. old world was a pump and dump, and here comes the rug pull when it gets discontinued again in like a year. no product like can lose 30% of its revenue every year and survive
>>98106622I like Warhammer Fantasy, so your post is invalid and gay.
>>98106617i dont think thats true at all. 40k is hugely popular with gamers both old and young, and that game has a model requirement roughly equal to that of fantasy, guardsmen are only like 5 points, chaos space marines are around 12-13, its pretty comperable to the points and model count of fantasy, the exception being that they spend slightly more money on vehicles than fantasy players spend on artillery, chariots, and monsters, depening on the army. aos is the actual game where people dont paint as many models, because its point costs are on average 2x what 40k and fantasy have, so its armies are correspondingly about half the size in model countbut 40k proves that young players are more than willing to shell out and paint 100+ orks or guardsmen or nidsthe problem is that warhammer fantasies models and factions are just uninteresting. each of the armies are like collectively all of the most boring, vanilla milquetoast interpretations of their fantasy archetypes in all of fantasy gaming, literature and IPs. they are somehow even more vanilla than tolkien, and the kits themselves suffer horribly from tin soldier copy and paste syndrome.
>>98106657Buddy I don't think you've actually played either 40k if you think it has the same model count average as fantasy.>but but muh horde armyMarines and custodes are the most popular for a reason.
>>98106672>custodes are the most popular for a reasonSource? Also Knights are way more elite than either marines or custodes but aren't near the top of popularity. So your argument falls apart a bit there.
>>98106657Please follow the reply chain, anon. The topic of discussion was not people painting hundreds of models to play a game, nor was it about army sizes. It was people buying extra boxes for the sake of having more models.40k players do not paint 100 guardsmen for the sake of painting 100 guardsmen. They're doing it because it's effective and results in them having a good army, which is, as stated previously, not what my post was about.A major problem I have with the new 40k kits is that buying more than one box is stupid because you'll have multiple models with the exact same poses. An army of clones, if you will, and I think GW did that on purpose so they could trick people into collecting multiple armies instead of just endlessly growing one army.Your opinion about WHFB is bad and wrong and gay and as such I will not dignify that part of your post with a response.Again, please follow the reply chain.
>>98104355Very based
>>98106691>thinks 40k minaitures are an army of clones in same posesplease, my sides cant take any more
>>98105715Same way how they moved the timeline for Cathay? You’re being really retarded anon.
Wish you people learned to stop taking this guy's baits every single thread.
>>98106713Go buy two boxes of chaos space marines. You'll have a warband of clones doing the same whacky and expressive poses and they won't even have the excuse of needing to rank up.
>>98106286Historicals barely generate any sales. They are probably 2% as an industry of just TOW sales. There's barely any boomers that are even into historicals anymore. The industry only exists because the margins are so good and the existing historical grogs are willing to spend big bucks on sub par low detail sculpts.
>>98106723Are we to simply allow bad posts to persist unchallenged, anon?Would you prefer this thread to be full of cowards too afraid to post anything at all lest it invite a shitposter's wrath?
>>98106715Are there any big Cathay events that justified the timeline being moved? Kislev has a massive one that ties into the whole setting moving forward. So apples to oranges.
>>98106727>Go buy two boxes of chaos space marines.>he picks one of the kits that can actually swap around arms and heads and comes with a whole extra upgrade sprue of more arms and heads>meanwhile in fantasy chaoshahaha
>>98106713>cherrypicking sculpts from a literal starter setKek, weak bait.
>>98106736You could just discuss things normally. There are other generals with obsessed shitposters that keep yelling into the void every day and the threads move along as normal.
>>98106745No they do not, half the posts in 40kg are related to the space wolf anon or schizos freaking out over/baiting him.
>>98106740Yeah, the 2004 chaos warrior kit sucks, I won't defend it. Arm and head swaps won't fix your clone problem, anon. Now, either actually engage in discussion or be on your way back to /40kg/. I'm sure you'll be hailed as a hero for defending your spin-off game's honour.
>>98106209> The last to have one in stock> But it still soldSounds like they have assembled a powerful pen of GW sloppigs
>>98106759okay but like, why pick chaos space marines as your example if you dont want me to directly compare to its exact analogue in fantasy the chaos warriors?>>98106743my bad, here ya go, these guys werent in the starter set right?
>>98106736>unchallengedThe fact that you're so insecure that you think a shitpost must be challenged rather than ignored shows you're just as much a mental midget as the faggot who made the initial post.If it's that bad, report it and ignore it. Stop derailing every fucking thread because you need to flex your micropenis
>>98106766No they were not but what's your point? Cherrypicking old ass sculpts? And they have to rank up for Fantasy. Compare that to monopose modern 40k where you get 5 poses per unit before repeats and the only changes you can make are headswaps. Genuinely hilariously bad.
>>98106743But those were retooled. It's a new kit.And they look great makes me want to do a sea guard army
>>98106761More like unless you play in their store there is literally no reason to buy from them considering they are part of like the maybe 10% of non GW stores that charge full price. I imagine the people that bought those kits play in their store, in which case that's a fine value ad.
>>98106781I thought only the cavalry/Ellyrian Reavers were retooled?
>>98106766Because I'm not as familiar with 40k models as I thought I was. You know what I mean when I mention clones. Multi-monopose, man! ETB! Models sliced up by a computer and distributed on a sprue in a manner comprehensible to neither man nor beast! It's happening to Fantasy now too, but it started in 40k.Bah, what would you even know. You've already made your lack of good taste evident. Pearls before swine, I suppose. Now, off with you. Go back to your sty, where the rest of your fellow 40k enthusiasts are.
>>98106737You don’t get that they genuinely don’t need to follow a timeline for releases in tow. They’ve retconned shit that hasn’t existed in the time frame of tow to sell them there, they won’t get to the siege of prag for maybe another 7 or so years unless something happens to gw like being bought out.
There's a store near me that sells GW stuff at GW prices, and sometimes even slightly higher. I've always wondered how that could possibly be good business, surely they're only selling to people who don't know any better and are basically window shopping. I mean, they sell other stuff too, but their Warhammer section takes like 20% of the shop, so surely it must be making them money, but I don't get how. There's a Warhammer store nearby and another 3rd party store selling stuff at more reasonable prices just down the street.
>>98106776>has to cock half his models in another direction just to avoid clone syndrome>accuses ME of cherrypicking holyshit
Man I'm painting some men at arms I assembled when I was like 16 and it's really not very enjoyable because I, for some reason, glued all of the extra gubbins on all of them, and not even in a particularly coherent way. Kinda mad at past me, because it's still one of my all time favourite kits. >>98106803People gift shopping, collectors that buy like 1 kit a year, people with too much spending money... All sorts of people out there anon.
>>98106803As someone who ran a store, GW makes great money on the models, and stores selling GW makes huge money. Many of the kits are something like $20-30 bucks and sold for $60-80. And they have a MSRP and they fucking CRACK DOWN on that shit. I had an unadvertised 2 day weekend sale at just 5% below the MSRP and they gave me a warning for it.
>>98106772I've seen what happens when people just ignore bad posts, anon. If ignoring them worked, there wouldn't be any bad posts anymore. Yet here we are. Letting shitposts fester makes people not want to discuss anything and you must be joking if you think the jannies will actually do anything. But, perhaps you have a point. You'll have to forgive me for engaging this time. Let's see if ignoring the problem makes it go away.
>>98106836Responding to them only gives the shitposter the attention they crave. You're not "winning" anything when you respond. By responding at all, you've already lost.
>>98106826some of the stuff people use for stripping minis can also somewhat dissolve glue, probably enough to pop off bits like blet pouches and shit
>>98106836>>98106840Yeah I think it's best to ignore them and let them talk to themselves. They will samefag but what can you do about their schizo tendencies.
>>98106826Picture to illustrate what I mean>>98106824I mean they're weirdly designed because they need to hold a polearm and a pavise at the same time, there's no real way for the grunts to have dynamic poses. It's more than made up by the head/torso options imho
>>98106835Interesting, because that other 3rd party store I mentioned genuinely sells most of the same boxes at a 10-20% discount all year round. I wonder how they get away with it then.

>>98106849You're allowed to sell with a discount but only a discount that GW agrees to. In Canada for example it's 15% max.
I'd like to paint my squigs different colours because it's just more fun to do, but I feel like every time I see people do that it just looks like somebody spilled candies on the table.
>>98106657>40k proves that young players are more than willing to shell out and paint 100+ orks or guardsmen or nidsPost one single example of this. Neither you nor I have ever met a single player who has ever bother to paint 100 Ork, guardsmen, etc.
>>98103830Glad to see you put in the effort on your men-at-arms and peasant bowmen, it really pays off on the tabletop. I also like to paint mine with different colour schemes; perhaps various feudal lords assembling for honour/mutual gain -- or even just a good o' crusade
>>98106723Time for your meds
>>98106732Ironically, I think it's highly probable that there are more historical gamers and collectors in the world than there are Warhammer players. The difference is that they are just spread over a thousand different rulesets and dozens of periods of history and so you never see them all in one place like you do with Warhammer.
>>98106776What's this guy in the back doing?
>>98106939I would bet my life savings that this isn't the case. Just going off revenue of like GW vs everyone else. Warhammer is a giant, everyone else is an ant.

While we're on this topic, which oldhammer/middlehammer/nuhammer/TOW models do you like best? For me it's>oldhammerNick Bibby's dragons, Dorf sappers, Wood Elf Waywatchers + Beast Masters, pre-mudcore Bretonnian artillery>middlehammerDoW, Bretonnian questing knights with lances, Repantsu>nuhammerSisters of Avelorn, White Lions of Chrace, Infernal Guard, and basically every Chaos character from that era>TOWTomb Kings characters. The bone dragon is also fine, genuinely did not understand the seethe behind it. All the new Bretonnia stuff was legitimately disgusting to me except for the new QK on foot, Damsel, and Prophetess, which look great but genuinely look like they're in the wrong scale. The new Duke/BSB characters also have the heart failure edema legs and leather baby bibs (some WoW-brained faggot zoomie intern's idea of a maille coif/mantle maybe, who knows) of the nu-foot knights.
>>98107765Paintlet. The English deceive themselves into thinking Bretonnia is more Britannia and less Breton.
>>98107847I struggle to articulate exactly what it is I hate about these fuckers so much. Their armor almost has 40k Sisters of Battle power armor dimensions to it, the... mantle-bevor-coifs look like shit, the helmets are fucked, even the crests are boring yet overdesigned at the same time. Literally the only thing that looks okay is the tabard. How is it possible to cock up something so simple so badly? Fucking Monstrous Encounters and Highland Miniature knockoffs did a better job than them.
>>98107847>old hammer Most of the quest stuff. I also think the mordheim Minotaur was the best thing released from that game. >middle hammer I genuinely don’t know. >>98107900>>98107913I see your minotaur and raise you a warlock. The Ogre Bodyguard, Ostermark Freelance Knight, and Frenzied Mob/Stagecoach Robbery encounters are also impeccably in the spirit of warhams. What a soulful game Mordheim is.

>>98107929He gets a pass for his exquisite taste. But yes, that's nuhammer.
>>98107847Yeah the hate the bone dragon received was weird imo too. Even the creator of the bone dragon said she wasn't happy with how it came out and wishes she had more time, but I genuinely think it's a great model
>>98107956Meanwhile foot knights were soifaced about on release and they're genuinely one of the worst GW kits ever released, on par with the Votann and AoS nu-chorfs.
>>98102728They're all fucking awful. Firstly and most importantly because Pinheaded Shortmen are not actual Dwarfs. Dwarfs have fists like whole hams, feet like shovels, are 85% head and belly, and have a nose that could only result from a secret government breeding program using Jews and raging alcoholics to create the biggest shnoz ever seen on a living being that isn't a trunk. Secondly because they're part of the general Flanderization of that period of GW's approach to Fantasy where they started pushing retarded OC Donut Steel bullshit like>Yeah well OUR Dwarfs are liek totes super special snowflakes and they're WAY too cool and unique to use wood, in fact for everything where it makes sense to use wood they use METAL, and actually it's SPECIAL METAL too so it can do stuff metal normally doesn'tAnd thirdly, finally, and for the unstoppable KO the point of comparison are the 5th metals, among the best minis GW has ever produced for any of their systems. You can paint a turd up real nice, it's still a turd.
>>98107956>she

>>98110795*now the most, fucksake.
Why don't you guys play Wood Elves?
>>98111053Because the only place for a wood elf is in my bed as a cock sleeve, not on the battlefield
>>98111053No good wood elves sculpt for wardancers since 1995
>>98111053I think they're cool, I just think there are other armies that are more cool. Hopefully I'll get around to them eventually too.Still, one of my earliest Warhammer memories was seeing a classmate's wood elf army back when I only vaguely knew about Warhammer, and I thought it looked fucking sick. And that's a major reason I got interested in the game and setting in the first place.
>>98111053Their older metal minis I always thought were goofy looking, while the newer kits are gorgeous, but above my painting ability. Their playstyle doesn't interest me either, so for me they'll always be a "meh maybe someday" type of army.i really liked the Underworlds Wild Hunt warband though, I would absolutely paint that if i ever come across it on the secondary market. I'm more of a painter and collectioner than wargamer anyways, so the whole Underworlds shtick of "3-4 of the factions archetypal core units + 1-2 of the factions iconic special unit or hero" always appealed to me.
>>98111053Because my wife does and if I started buying them she would just steal them from me.
>>98111053They’re boring and gay
>>98111207Are your painting skills around anon's pic? That should be more than good enough
>>98110749Im betting the reddit symbol triggered him so hard he had to lash out.Its odd though since there has been a bunch of people complaining about skirmish units in the generals.
No news...
>>98111053I'm straight. I don't play elves and furfaggot shit
>>98111088>>98111377>>98111650The TOW playerbase seems so miserable.
>>98111677ok faggot
I've salvaged some AoS heads from my old 40k berserker conversions. And now after dry fitting I'm not sure if the style isn't to much out of place. What do you think?
>>98111728
>>98111736looks alright
>>98111736It kinda screams chaos marine to me.
>>98111736With a unifying paint job it will look really good.
>>98111736I don't care for it. Trimmed helmets with untrimmed armour? It doesn't work.
>>98112184I love Dwarfs so much bros
>>98109106Wargames foundry has a chaos samurai.
>>98111477Latest attempt was this. I guess I just feel like WE sculpts need you to be very clean with your brushwork.

redpill me on the rats
>>98111677They are. Old/Middlehammer players on the other hand are enjoying ourselves and having a lot of fun with our war dollies.
>>98112184Oldhammer dorfs and middlehammer Bretonnia/Empire/VC mog their present ranges (or AoS equivalent for VC) so hard it's unreal.
>>98111566TOW is pretty much dead, huh? Even AoS is getting news.
>>98112921Hopefully it dies so the TWW tourists and waacfags leave and we can go back to comfy threads and older editions.
>>98112623Looks very good
>>98112712You’re responding to a troll, anyone can go to old world ranking and look at lists and see that the point is just shitposting. >>98112999I swear you shitposters are going to push me to purchase and start Cathay literally just to spite you
Kislev soon…
I'm a newfag building my first list, so help me get this right please. I have to take a night goblin shaman or "chief" (does this mean boss?) for each night goblin mob I bring? And same thing for squig herds. I assume the characters "stack" in the sense that I can bring both a mob and a herd if I have just one shaman. Also, since the unit size isn't specified I guess I can bring as many as I want as long as I don't split them up in that case?
>>98113046>Also, since the unit size isn't specified I guess I can bring as many as I want as long as I don't split them up in that case?To clarify, meant to say "as many goblins as I want" in one mob.
>>98113046you're correct. you need 1 character per squad, but the squad size itself is unlimited.also im pretty sure as i read it, a single character can fill the requirements for both a goblin mob and a squig herd at the same time. so like if you wanted 2 herds and 2 mobs, only having 2 shamans would fill those requirements. still, not the worst thing in the world since goblin characters are dirt cheap and pretty good with the right options, they can punch way above their weight class
>>98113046Night goblin chiefs refer to bigbosses and warbosses just as shamans refer to oddgits and oddnobs, yes. For every night goblin chief/shaman, you get to take one more night goblin mod and one more night goblin squig herd. If you have one night goblin chief and one night goblin shaman, you can take 0, 1, or 2 night goblin mobs and 0, 1, or 2 night goblin squig herds. In short, yes, you are correct.Unit sizes are specified in the actual unit profile. Night goblin mobs do not have an upper limit, but they do have a minimum unit size of 10. So, yes, you can stuff as many night goblins as you want in your list so long as they're in one big unit, or however many units equal to the allowance you are given based on the number of night goblin characters you have.
>>98113046Correct on all counts. The unit size however is listed on the actual units profile. There is no max for Night Goblins for example, but there is a minimum of 10 models (10+).
>>98113108>>98113111>>98113133Thanks, I don't know why it seemed unclear to me but maybe I'm just retarded. I only have one shaman right now so I guess I need to start looking for more characters, because night gobbo mobs and squig herds are the only models I have a ton of right now.
>>98113139Get the night goblin bosses kit. 4 metal night gobbos with various kits for half the price of a normal infantry kit. Pretty good deal for the variety and the sculpts are great and you'll use the bosses with your mobs anyways.
>>98113162I just might, I like those guys. But I'd also like to put a character on a giant cave squig. I know there's a "night goblin command" set which seems to have one, but it's quite a bit more expensive. I assume the only way to buy just a single guy on a squig is through the aos range?
>>98113010You don't have miniatures and you don't play any games. You're a sad mantlet who would be better off hanging from your neck.
>>98113139also if you dont mind a more esoteric aesthetic, you can get 5 shamans in a box from the aos gobapalooza kit
Only a few more highlights and I'm calling these guys done. >>98113190There are like two dozen indie companies making night goblins you could check out if you like a more old school style. These guys are from Knightmare and I'm pretty sure they also do some characters on squigs.
>>98113323I don't care what anyone says, I love the dancing gobbo on the skull and the one riding the brain shroom who is clearly having a very bad trip.
>>98113139Use https://old-world-builder.com/, it usually has all the rules built in and tells you what you need if you add a unit with a requirement
I've got a bit of a mystery on my hands that needs solving, /wfg/. What's up with that chaos warrior on the bottom left of this page? I've been digging through a lot of old catalogues and I can't seem to find this specific sculpt anywhere else. This page is from the 1996 monsters and rider mail-order catalogue and this little fella isn't in any of the other catalogues, be they chaos-specific or annual. What's his deal? Why doesn't he have feet? The other chaos knights from this time period all had lances and looked different, why is this guy special?
>>98113323I did see those guys but yeah, they really don't suit my idea of old world gobbos. The gloomspites are very hit or miss for me. Thanks for the recommendation anyway.
>>98113369Objective power rankings:Evil Sun mask dancer >> tripping shaman >>>>>>> brewing gobbo >>>> power gap >>> arachnogob and mesmeriser
>>98113323If all of AoS was as good as their Night Goblins and Skaven then no one would complain.
>>98113444>no one would complain.Of course some would. There is always a contrarian.
>>98113444Imagine Stormtranny 41%ers instead as angelic Empire of Man humans who woke up in Sigmarite heaven and immediately went to war as Sigmar's noblebright angels in Germanic angel armor. Oh, and they're actually Sigmarite Empire citizens and not random Africans. That'd actually be pretty sweet, I might've bought into them.
>>98113634The fucking blatant 1:1 Space Marine/Custodes armor just screams corporate boardroom cynicism. Marinepigs do not want to play Fantasy, they want to play Marinepig gaem. Anyone who plays AoS is a fag, but anyone who plays Stormcasts is actually a braindead tranny.
Are there any good warhammer fantasy telegram groups for finding stls? A lot of these old sculpts are unobtainum.
>>98113395It's definitely based on one of the models from the Chaos Knight Cavalry page on the 1993 catalogue. It's top left on pic related. I'm almost certain that picture is either a conversion or an unreleased variant that somehow was put into production for that newer catalogue.
>>98113690Excellent, excellent! Thank you, anon! I can't believe I missed that. I bet finding the model in your picrel will be a lot easier than hunting down a model that was only available through a mail order catalogue. After that, I suppose I'll just have to figure out how to convert it.Really, thank you again, anon. I may yet have a right and proper chaos lord riding a right and proper chaos dragon soon enough!
>>98113689you'd probably have an easier time just buying the physical models off of a secondary seller like trolltrader, they usually have a lot of the old metals
>>98113403I'm probably the biggest fan of spiders here and I really don't like the spider mutant guy. The head is gross and weird, and not in an appealing spidery way.
>>98113689>A lot of these old sculpts are unobtainum.I've been lucky with some and unlucky with others. 5e Questing Knights with lances, for example, are like $150 apiece at the moment and no recasters will ship to my region, but I've scored a good chunk of rare oldhammer dorfs and one-offs for cheap, and found good deals on DoW/Mordheim middlehammer.
>>98113689You're gonna have to assemble your collection little by little. Look up scanpass, there are some leaked scans there, you can also ask in alguien.Sadly, the best quality and rarer scans are sold in private groups, which don't really give out invites to prevent leakers and GW's lawyers.
>>98113723I was sure I'd seen it somewhere else, as three of the knights on that page have different style and proportions, and I'd seen the others advertised on their own. The three distinct knights are actually Marauder Miniatures MM92 Mounted Chaos Warriors (your knight included), that's why they don't appear in citadel catalogues, also why their style is different. Those marauder helmets are iconic and now I feel dumb for taking so long to recognise them.Hope you can find one for sale at s good price, anon!
>>98113807Whoops, forgot my pic like an absolute buffoon.
>>98113782GW spends more on their ponce faggot legal team than they would just keeping old models in print on a MTO basis and dealing with the headache of storing the moulds. Just build a factory in some American shithole for cheap and be done with it, I guarantee grogs and hipsters would buy the full berth of the classic catalog if it were available again.
>>98113810Being completely fair, many of those old molds broke in the early 00s and gw never bothered replacing them. Despite the amount of Oldhammer and retro fans, GW has placed their bets on newness and retiring old stuff for most of their history, only recently discovering the goldmine that MTO is. I think their current model works very well for them, short production runs at elevated prices and small timeframes mean a lot of fomo sales, people are less conservative with their spending when they feel like it's the last chance ever to buy something, this also cuts on production costs and saves shelf space. I'd love to have the whole catalogue of old minis to buy at any time, but from a business perspective, what they're doing now is probably the most profitable way.
>>98113810They probably want to keep a scarcity mentality to a certain extent for old sculpts. I am sure that their old catalogue wouldn’t sell amazing available all the time. But when it comes back as a FOMO MTO, sales probably ramp up because a lot of people who would be on the fence/lukewarm buy in because they don’t know when if ever they will be able to buy them again
>>98113845Pretty much this. Just look at Bandai, they still print a good chunk of their very old catalogue and there's very little hype for the old stuff, even among retro collectors. They also produce plastics only, and have very well done moulds, so reprints are cheap as chips. Their factories have excess production capabilities, which means they can afford to have some machines churning out old/unpopular kits even at a lower profit margin. Gw in comparison has abysmal production capabilities, uses metal or resin for most of their old stuff and has seen a lot of mould degradation, particularly on their plastic moulds.

>>98113915they literally 3d scan the original copies of every miniature they have and make new moulds
>>98113833>gw never bothered replacing themSounds like GW's problem. As the other anon said, it's their own fucking model, they can easily scan it and make new moulds.
