Made a new photo booth for my minis.
>>98295076For a long time I've liked the design of the trench crusade war wolf, but I also rather dislike resin as a material due to its brittleness. Today as I was rummaging through my bits box an idea occurred to me and I made this mock-up with blu-tac. The shields from frostgrave demons make for nice slabs to shape the head and those cleavers from some ossiarch kit could pass for teeth. However, this design lacks the narrow, caiman-like design of the original Mike Franchina drawing. I reckon making a narrow green stuff cone and working from there would get closer to the original design, but I've none at hand at the moment. How do you store your green stuff, learned elders of /WIP/? My previous batch went stale, most likely because I didn't store it properly.
>>98295211And the image because I'm retarded...
Anyone have any TERRAIN wip advice? I'm trying to make a grass flock mat for an 8 foot table. All the flocking I find online is sold in tiny bags or bottles and will cost a FORTUNE to cover the the entire mat. Anyone know any cost effective ways to get flock that still looks for on a large table?
It's 100 F out and the AC is going nonstop right over my work desk. Should I paint today? I feel like shit's gonna dry out super fast.
Good Afternoon WIP. Maybe someone here will be able to help me. I'm looking for a glue that will bond PVC parts the same way plastic cement bonds "regular" plastic.I have tried with pic related and while it does work, it's too much of an hassle to use for miniatures. The glue starts curing IMMEDIATELY. It's already thick and goopy, but within a second or two it develops a semi-rigid film/skin of cured cement and the whole thing starts to firm up and becomes like Jello.I had some luck in scooping some glue on a surface and them brake off/mix the curing amount with an old brush and apply it to the parts immediately. This works for bigger joints (bodies to legs and arms to shoulders) but it's far too quick and far too messy to attempt on small joints (hands to wrists) where I had to resort to super glue.My question then is: is there a less viscous/more liquid version of this stuff? I've got 60+ more models to assemble and I really want to avoid just using superglue for these guys.I wouldn't mind paying an hobby tax for the convenience of using a more user friendly product.i'm in Canada BTW, so maybe that's more readily available in north America.I'm hoping someone here has some experience and can offer a solution.
>>98295247From what I remember, shops dedicated for train scale modelers sells large mats with premade grass. In fact, when I discussed whole grass flock application with few modelers, they all recommend buying such mats instead of trying to apply flock yourself. Makes even more sense with large terrain pieces.
>>98295338>>98295247Okay, found it, sorry for Polish shop link but it's just to give you idea:https://www.mhshop.pl/pl/p/NOCH-00265-MATA-Trawiasta-120x60cm-Laka/6474https://www.mhshop.pl/pl/p/NOCH-00013-MATA-Trawiasta-200-x-100cm-laka/25481
i just gathered a bunch of birch seed for the first time. should i do anything special to treat/preserve them or is drying them out in the sun good enough?
>>98295393You should put them in the oven at a certain temp (I can't remember) to kill any bugs. I put mine in a sealed container once for several months, when I opened it up there was a ton of little tiny dead flies. Gnats or something.
>>98295338>>98295358no no no no dont buy that paper backed shit there is a reason gw stopped making those and started making them from canvas insteadit will flake off and go bald in a second and all you are left with is this big green mess every-fucking-where
>>98295076I wanted a lieutenant for my latest bladeguards, and this kitbashed combi weapon marshal I did a few months ago had the right base body and definitely enough bling for that, so he underwent magnetizing surgery
>>98295209I love it.
>>98295211>How do you store your green stuffIn the fridge.
>>98295531The lighting is good
>>98294900it's funny that even on that waffle speed shape you can see shadows on it without having to paint them on, but this thread will insist that's actually impossible.
>>98295603Yes, but the shadows would look different if the waffle was 2 meters instead of 2 cm
>>98295624if it was scaled exactly it would look the same
>>98295437i see, thanks

This one makes 10 uniquely posed handgunners. Most of the others have been fairly dynamic poses, so I decided to make a couple more idle. I break down my different conversions into 3 separate categories generally. Idle, moving and acting/dynamic. It's a concept I borrowed from traditional sculpting methods and how those figures are usually broken up by the retailer/manufacturer for sale. They usually have them split up something like>Halflings advancing with arquebus>Halflings firing arquebus>Halflings standing with arquebusGenerally, most of not all minis will fit under one of those 3 classifications, so it's a good way to inform the direction of a conversion or kitbash or what-have-you.
>>98295799Nice workWhat're these fellows for, anyway, Turnip?
>>98295266Get a wet pallette like everyone else you jackass
>>98295527nice but should have painted the stump bloody red with gtristle for maximum grimdark
>>98295334If you have any acetone or maybe nail polish remover, you can try thinning the cement down a little bit and see if that works, but that stuff also evaporates quickly. Make sure you work in a well ventilated space
The needle of my airbrush keeps getting stuck. I think it's paint behind the cup because that's about how far back I have to clean the needle. Is it a bad o-ring or something?
>>98295266same problem but need to prime. its hell, i can't fuck it up but ive got nothing to paint.
>>98296045It takes some foresight and a healthy dose of procrastination, but I have a solution for that.
>>98295247 What's your plan and budget to make the table? Depending on how you do it, you could make the grass a little patchy, allowing some barren ground to show through, so you could spread a little sand and rock in spots
>>98296078why
>>98296165Prime a bunch of stuff ahead of time and some plastic sheeting to keep the dust off. Not that complicated.
>>98296144Yes that's my idea. >>98296173>Dust off Get a better air filter for your home and keep it cleaner
>>98296179>Get a better air filter for your home and keep it cleanerOr you cover the minis and solve the problem before it ever becomes a problem. If you're going to prime them and store them for the future when the weather makes priming more difficult why wouldn't you do something so simple to keep them ready to go?

>>98296536You're the reason I don't let people touch my models
Pretty happy with how it turned out, I think the change from the original hair was huge. Thanks for the advice on that one guys.
>>98296659What the fuck is this and why is she still missing so much hair? Bitch has norwood 4
>>98296659Looks good anon, prime that sucker!
I tried a few different acrylic whites to spray over a lacquer primer because I needed water based paints to not bead on the primed surface. Soflat white performed the best and it's compatible with x20-a too.
>>98296574I overreacted a bit, I was able to wash off the paint with water in time and everything was fine
>>98297119Did you try high flow white?
>>98297131I don't have it, but based on my experience with other gloss paints I don't expect it to be useful for this purpose.
>>98296662Had to look that up, must be rough going bald have a whole system for it. It's a Dark Eldar archon. >>98297091 Thanks
>>98296659ignore >>98296662it'll look better if you establish the hairline with paint, I think, considering it's supposed to be pulled up into the braid.
