Reminder that old Cathay art, up to and as recently as the Cathay diplomat character in c7's WFRP supplement, had Cool Face Paint. Specifically, black metal eyeshadow with patterns running down their cheeks. Even the fucking Vidya threw us a bone and gave the Iron Dragon the eyeshadow, so he looks like young Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat.I see why GW got rid of it - it's hard to paint on a model, and thus intimidating to newbies - but it was a cool touch for Cathayans to wear this elaborate eye makeup. See this old Mordheim art? And it looks more gritty and dirty and generally inline with the setting.

>>98348961I think they're pretty comparable. Great swords get Furious Charge now, but Ogres get impact hits and are move 6. Greatswords have better armor, but ogres have better toughness. Greatswords have better leadership and Stubborn, Ogres have armorbane and fear. The biggest thing Greatswords have is you can scale them up bigger for static res. But at 11-14 ppm each rank gets pretty expensive. But for the most part if you were gonna run 10-15 greatswords, 4-6 ogres do about the same job.

I ordered 5 second hand goblin wolf riders and, bless the owner, he gave them both spears and bows on his mini. I am curious how to best use them for an upcoming game vs dorfs at 1k. My plan was to keep them at 15-18" away from a melee unit and keep shooting arrows. I would use warband to reroll if they fail impetious to reduce charge range.

I remember looking into Emperor Karl Franz, Prince of Altdorf and Elector Count of Reikland, and it seems two different people might inherit those titles. Apparently, his firstborn son was born outside of the law, so he might be able to inherit the city, or his younger sister could, if I’m remembering correctly. His position as Elector Count might instead go to his mutant nephew. I might need to double-check my sources, which came from an AI. It was interesting to learn that the Emperor’s success would have made his death a ticking time bomb in terms of inheritance. Also, who actually lives in the castle when the ruler of Altdorf and the Count of Reikland become two different people—are they supposed to share it?

Had a 1500p game against Dark Elves today, we got the meeting engagement scenario, where my only units that ended up in reserve (besides my ambushers) were 2 out of my 3 heroes.No pictures im afraid but it was a roller coaster of a battle with units fleeing, regrouping, failing all to hits/wounds on either side. I’m planning a Renegade Crowns Battle March army as a Kislev force. I’ve got Victrix and Fireforge historicals for models, so that gives me 66 infantry. What else should I get for it? I don’t want to get a huge amount as I’m assuming that there will be Kislev models at some point, but also don’t want to have an army that’s just Sellsword Infantry, Empire Archers and Free Company.
Should I start Cathay or Wood Elves. I can still buy both battalions. I like both but I’m not sure what I would do for beast packs because I’m not using those models for that price for Wood Elves. I like that Cathay has everything in plastic ready to go. I like a lot of the Wood Elf metals too though, like the tree kin and waywatchers. I would probably convert a dragon from the high elf one because a metal sculpt of dragon size scares me.
