>>98367903>tq:Tremere: Black and Blue, obviously
>TQActually kind of interesting, Wraith would probably be black and white because of all the dead people slavery.>>98367898>>98367902Truly a harrowing thought. Fun thread though, but I don't expect it to happen again.

>>98367945Dunno. I've never played mtg. All my knowledge of it came by osmosis from this place.
Was Matt McFarland perhaps innocent all along?
Found the quote saying Potence is half-telekinesis>Ghouls are rather more at a disadvantage where these powers are concerned -- though each ghoul has an instinctive grasp of the half-physical, half telekinetic focus for superhuman strength.>-Ghouls: Fatal Addiction page 17Which checks out with their higher levels including stuff like blasting people with finger guns.
Was Don Quixote a CtD-style Troll?
>>98367957No.
>>98367963Air pressure bullets > finger guns IMO
>>98367963oh that's cool
>>98367963>the lasombra are sorta right about how potence works and the brujah are 100% wrongcan't say i am suprised
>wake up>watch the new HtPThat's it?!That's the fucking episode?!Nothing fucking happened! This wasn't just generic filler, it was filler that didn't even reveal anything we didn't already know.Never trust swedes to do anything for fuck's sake!
This is how you kill Gaia's strongest soldier.
>>98368011>Nothing fucking happened!Fucking amateur. Start watching From.
>>98368011grimal basically outed herself as the ghoul, but this was a character episode.
>>98368025Her healing suspiciously fast is the thing that confirmed it for me. Can't wait for another 30 audio logs before they officially spell it out for the peanut gallery.
>>98368031she also left a suspiciously long gap when talking about the heat was off her...so she could rip on the woof.
Ok so I know vampire now, lots and lots of schizo lore and how to play.Which one should I learn next?- werewolf TA, Mage Ascension, or Wraithfor soloplay?
>>98368025I think she's actually a Troll, not a Ghoul.
>>98368006The Lasombra also have a quote spitballing about how Potence isn't just muscle power?
>>98368041Read Changeling the Lost.
>>98368025>>98368031>>98368036Cognis mentis, innit?
>>98368011At least chapter 6 is supposed to come out very soon, which is sure to contain actual things happening.
>>98368043yes lasombra believe that Potence is supernatural power seperate from their phisical strenght which is why stuff like "Lend the SupernaturalVigor" is a lasombra made elder and in later books combinatin powerthey are only sorta correct because they believe that this might be connected to the same energy as obtenerbrationbrujah meanwhile think it's just extra strenght comming from their inner fire
The cope among the tourist fans has officially started. lmaoGod, it must be real exhausting being an indie creator and having to deal with mouth breathers attaching to your characters way too much and having a mental breakdown when something happens. There's so many people in the comments losing it, because they think Grimal has been marked for death in this episode. Even if she has, so what? She's not real.
>>98368055I'm just glad my boy Harry is still fine and completely normal
>>98368044Is it really that good?Checked em.
>>98368049>they are only sorta correct because they believe that this might be connected to the same energy as obtenerbrationEveryone's gotta fuck up somewhere.
>>98368076Give it a try. Definitely better than weredog and wraith.
>>98368083Alright, but it better be good to beat out schizo powers VS hyperbeams and terminator bots, and finding out why people actually play HtV.
>>98368049ah that's from the player guide to the high/low clans right? i liked how they tried to give different clan's versions of the same discipline different feelings which informed the elder powers in these books like: ventrue fortitude hardens your body leading to stuff like the "Armor of Kings" power or makes the ventrue convinced that they can endure everything the world throws at them which leads to the " Stand Against all Foes" elder powercappadocian fortitude makes you more corpse like akin to the corpse in the monster necromancy path (which wasn't a thing back then) leading to elder powers like " Repair the Undead Flesh" and gangrel fortitude is about nature and becoming a beast closer to it and is less hardening yourself and more "rejecting" damage which is why they made the elder power that makes weapons break on contact "The Knight's Bane"
>>98368110>player guide to the high/low clansNTA, but I fucking love those books. It's a shame some of the content never made it to V20.
>>98368110>cappadocian fortitude makes you more corpse like akin to the corpse in the monster necromancy path (which wasn't a thing back then) leading to elder powers like " Repair the Undead Flesh"It also played a bit into their scholarly side since that one was based on collabing with a Salubri healer to work out how to get around the usual limitations on healing aggravated damage.
>>98367908Silly woof, drones don't think
>>98368031I think the result of the whodunnit ghoul arc was that they telephone'd themselves into forgetting there was a ghoul to begin with. first the ghoul was actually a vampire, then the vampire was actually a wolf, and now they're too busy chasing down the furries to remember that the arcanum having a tremere plant was a whole separate thing. Also the ghoul is clearly lester gtfo with your tinfoil hat theories
>>98368055Always remember anon to never have any interest in characters nor speculate on their development, experience everything in a hollow state and think nothing of the story and its stakes afterwards, proceed to search elise_culpepper on rule34
>>98368226We have a lot of Setite posters in here I see. Someone must purge snek
>>98368076>>98368109Personally, 1e CtL was one of, if not my favorite game line, while I don't like the 2e version. This isn't anti-2e sentiment either. While I don't like everything, VtR is mostly a straight improvement and feel WtF (undisputed favorite now that CtL isn't in the running anymore) was two steps forward, one step back. While I have many complaints and am too tired to go over them right now, the thing I hate most is they're too overtuned.
>>98367903Any new news on Curseborne™ by Onyx Path Publishing?
>>98368324players guide has manuscripts out for backers and they also kickstarted a Jumpstart two months ago
>>98368324pdfs are floating around, it's eh. Imagine you went from "gothic horror big lore" to "cryptids, backrooms and make your own setting" that's how I feel about it. I only skimmed over it, however. The backrooms and cryptids angle is not a joke btw. This isn't really about being a vampire and fighting other vampires, it's about being a vampire and going to weird haunted places and seeing weird shit. There's far more than vamps in the corebook, from werewolves to sorcerers and others..I don't know. I didn't exactly hate it but it didn't really "grab" me either. There was no "wow I really wanna play this splat" or "wow I really wanna pull off this chronicle". But I've obviously never seen it in play and I will be honest: I kind of forgot the actual mechanics already.
>>98368344Oh and also, looking over this shitty ass .html I somehow ripped off of scribd, it's far more.. je ne sais quoi. Like it's made by a retarded zoomer lefty, you know? But not in a subtle-ish way. It's worse than how I remember v5. So if you care about this sort of shit, you won't like it.Again, my biggest problem remains, it's just not cool. A Garou is cool because it will actually maul people and fuck you up, but the way Curseborne describes their Werewolves is like "oooooooh we are a family and sometimes we own the chuds. And sometimes my animal self goes out of control grrr, woe is me.."The more I read of these factions, the more I want to forget them again.
>>98368344While I think that's a strange angle, maybe they should've gone all in on backrooms creepypasta horror game instead of trying to cram it into not!WoDit could be good
>>98368422>oooooooh we are a family and sometimes we own the chuds. And sometimes my animal self goes out of control grrr, woe is me.."Sounds like the typical werewolf game then
CtL is one of the WW games I'd like to see a video game of. Not one where you create your character but rather like Witcher where you start with a pre-defined characterIts Seemings/kiths are just way too different for it to work in a video game where you build an empty state character and then in game dialogue/events change according to characteristics checks, it would be too shallow compared to a pre-defined character's dealing with detailed traumaWill never happen though sadly
>>98368457no its like if you turned a werewolf into just another vampire that hunts humans without all the spirit shit. But then, instead of necessarily killing people you need to deal the equivalent of 1 damage and maybe spook somebody. Oh no, so dark.. truly we are the curseborne..It's like if you turned a cool ass crinos werewolf into a slightly, very slighty menacing punk rock furry, pic related.Even the most limp-dicked retarded w5 werewolf is 10x as cool as this shit.
>>98368458Geist would be cool too.
>>98368042I wish, it would explain a lot of stuff and I really want some CtD representation, it's my favorite splat.
Are there sorcery paths that let you travel to the umbra? Or the underworld?
>>98368559Thaumaturgy has Path of Spirit Manipulation and Necromancy has the Ash Path, does this answer your question?
>>98368041Mummy is good. We need more mummy guys
Guys, what if Grimal is a Ducheski revenant? They had a pretty big presence in North England during the Victorian Era and they are the Tremere's personal pet revenant family. Grimal is pretty cringy socially, which is completely in accord with the Ducheski curse which prevents them from having more than two dots in social attributes. Also they have access to dominate. WoD crossover soup, innit?
>>98368634not a Grimaldi...i'll see myself out
>>98368480Reads like ai.
>>98368480Ok, that's pretty funny. >born to punk>forced to troll
>>98368678Imagine if this was true and you could prove it. Their fans would cry&shit themselves and then descend on OPP headquarters to rip them apart and devour their corpses. Maybe it would inspire them to write a less lukewarm take on shapeshifting primal monsters.
>>98368480>you have gifts, but that doesn't make you a god or the next step in evolutionWhiny baby bullshit. You have superpowers, and that makes you objectively better than people who don't.
>>98368698Grrr, that sounds like fascist talk, woof. Don't you know all werewolves punch nazis? We're all FAMILY and we care about and love our community. And it's not all sunshine and rainbows either. Sometimes, I lose myself to THE CREATURE and then I turn into a THUNDERWOLF and scratch somebody before running back off into the dark and foreboding night. Only once I am home to watch the newest episode of Rick and Morty can I recover from my deep and traumatic Curse.
>>98368569Those are both piss poor ways to travel. High cost high risk and sloppy mechanics. Its why I was asking for alternate ways to enter the umbra/shadowlands in the first place.
>>98368480That character image is pvre sovl
I know nobody plays wraith can anyone tell me if there is any significant differences between a wraith game and a risen game?
>>98368760Eh, I’ve seen better on furaffinity
>>98367918Those are the best paths, after all.
>>98367957I'd rather see Todd McFarlane's World of Darkness.
>>98368870lol
>>98368760the only interesting thing about it is just how fucking retarded it is. It genuinely looks like a 2006 fursona.
>>98368870this is all using the original rules for risen. i heard w20 nerved them but i been lucky enough to have been in one game with them i doubt it will happen againit's a lot like vampire if you mixed it with the crow and if the crow hated the bird because it's his shadowyour shadow is actually stronger as a risen. might also be able to walk around in a animal corpse or tied to a condit item that you can't afford to let be destroyed (if it's a item it's also constantly bleeding entopic energy for mages and imbued to sense) and all your angst is doubled and the shadow can try to take over your body temporarily in which case it will most likely try to kill whoever if your feter in the skinlands and if you get 10 permanent angst you become a spectre risen... soo most risen in-universe aren't full time risen, but only become risen to do a certain thing they feel they need to do in the skinlands and then drop back into the shadowlands. we been however playing fulltime risen so in we decided pretty quickly to drop the double angst thing because otherwise it was just not managableyou have some unique arcanoi and you may learn Celerity, Fortitude, Obfuscate and Potence. at out of clan cost, but you don't have blood buff and you pay for them with Pathosyou only take agg damage from werewolf/vamp claws, bites and fire and beside possibly being smelly that are all your weaknesses you can go to a church at sunday morning and be fine
>>98368480>Screaming at your bully or breaking a door curses you.The fuck?
Found an error in the VtM to VtR conversion PDFWay of Fire 5, Volcanic Blast says "This creates an Inferno Environmental Tilt with an intensity equal to the lower of the vampire’s Blood Sorcery and Blood Potency. The tilt does the following:" and then it doesn't explain what the tilt does
>>98368964Don't forget the fact that risen have 10 health levels by default, don't get wound penalties, and soak like vampires(bullets are bashing instead of lethal, half damage from bashing). They're TANKY motherfuckers even before adding fortitude.
>>98368997>The fuck?It was written by the people that think mean words are equivalent to murder.
>>98369076somehow that's the post that makes me realize a modern mage could use the thuum
>>98368997I don't know. I think the door is metaphorical in this case. Either way, it's lame and gay. It's like if somebody took the concept of a First Change and asked themself "How do I make this as boring and dumb as possible?"
>>98368957exactly, SOVL
>>98367138>Don't the verbena like collecting static magic bloodlines the the fucking Bene Gesserit? They have a revenant family, kinfolk, and even kinains. So is this actually a tging? Were the verbena a dune reference before later editions made them etsy witches?
>>98369094I thought Verbena fucking hated Etsy Witches and would probably schizo out and cut their hearts out and eat it or something?
>>98369070yeah and they can use pathos to heal and if you don't destroy the body they can come back later and despite being the ultimate piece of shit your shadow also does not want to see you destroyed and might even help outin general i had a lot of fun playing my risen amateur assassin but i also have to say that the st was amazing the best st i ever had and i could see it being really cluncky with a lesser group, but that's probably just true for wraith in general
>>98368943>I'm Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn. What if you had the monsters from the Universal Monsters but they were all like, all super fucked up and looked totally awesome?>I brought some badass action figures for you to look at. Now available at all retail stores for $20.00 each
>>98368011Yeah I was also disappointed. Werewolf limbo sucks. Everyone's already guessed that Grimal is the ghoul. You don't need to keep spamming hints about it. The lack of suspicion around her miraculous recovery is another notch in Big D's fraud belt. I'd have preferred they just give us her internal monologue and confirm it. Because then the audience can engage in dramatic irony, since the entire pretense of mystery has been dropped for a while now. Plus, I'd rather have gone for a deeper cut if we were gonna spend 30 minutes on a side character. Give us her actual, unfiltered thoughts. >>98368055The entire subsect of HtP fans that explain everything away by turning every single character into a secret supernatural is baffling to me. Also, I am the exact opposite of these guys. I want them to start stacking bodies. And for fucking werewolf limbo to end but holy shit they've written themselves into a corner on this one.
>>98369094verbanna are under the (obviously wrong) belief that all mages belong to ancient magical bloodlines going back to the Wyck (their revised book also claims that lilith is the first one of these) and that you can't cast magick, some even say any form of magic without it that fera are bastard children of the wyck while they are the trueborn descendants and stuff like thatbefore m20 the verbanna as a whole also in most part rejected modern culture and tools when it came to magic. m20 then made them nu wicca mages
>>98369094No, but that would be significantly cooler than what we have.Would probably lead to sam height nonsense though. The writers for some fucking reason decided to establish half-splat hybrids are significantly stronger that either of their parent half-splats should imply. Example: Danislavs(revenant kinfolk hybrid) can learn disciplines and gifts up to 3rd dot range despite both revenants and kinfolk being limited to a 1 dot cap.
>>98369094the thing is the verbana have a lot of magical bloodlines because of the one belief the other anon mentioned, but they aren't mixing them. the closest you get are the Dunsirn who are a giovanni familly who prefer sorcery over necromancy who have fianna blood but are pretty much rejected by the tribe and had atleast 1 awakened member in the verbana during the time of the wild west, but the verbana didn't do that and if anything Dunsirn are trying to hide how mixed up they are with other splats from their giovanni overlords and throw out the werewolves born of their bloodline
>>98369125Most intellectual properties are kept afloat by sales...
>>98369138>Example: Danislavs(revenant kinfolk hybrid) can learn disciplines and gifts up to 3rd dot range despite both revenants and kinfolk being limited to a 1 dot cap. There are a few sources that imply 3rd level gifts is the actual limit for kinfolk and the "rank one gifts only" is a mostly social limit. Kinfolk are permanently rank 1 in garou society and can't be higher, spirits won't teach you gifts above your rank, garou generally refuse to teach kin any gifts in the first place, and kin don't have the rage or gnosis necessary to fuel most higher level gifts(except a rare few).

is it acceptable to PK someone for being french canadian IRL?
>>98367898>Too late but in honor of reaching 1200 Ill post the most lust provoking imagine I have: the picture Bahari anon came on that Setite anon drew. Why did he do it?Act of spontaneous whimsy. Plus, I think I had a bit more whiskey than usual after work that day? I have no regrets.
>>98369138>The writers for some fucking reason decided to establish half-splat hybrids are significantly stronger that either of their parent half-splats should imply.Early whitewolf had a hard-on for abominations and mixed splats. The LOVED making special auther self inserts up until sam height made it cringe. For example: see Talaq, a methusela that was cured by a mage, but kept all his methusela powers and immortality with none of the vampire weaknesses And on top of all that the book implies he can awaken as a mage.
>>98369241I use canadian french to represent demon speak in my current game.
>>98369254>until sam height made it cringe. It's actually amazing in context. The author for sam height was so cringe that whitewolf 180ed on mixed splats as a concept and have done everything in their power to keep splats segragated since. Multiple splats are specifically fertile and able to make half-splats, but become infertile if another splat gets involved. Demons are straight-up sterile despite nephilim/laham being a thing in owodfor decades before Down-to-Fuck was released.
It seems my superiority has led to some controversy.
>>98369291Wait, if you were soulforged into an ashcan, does that mean you also get arcanoi?
>>98369291The worst part is, sam and his skindancers were actually qn awesome antagonist before the fucking author went fully cringe with the world tree branch and conqistator's sword shit.A faction of kinfolk pissed about garou abusing them as second class citizens becoming vitae-addicted werewolves that have to rituall sacrifice garou to increase their numbers, the adventure fucking writes itself if you're not a retard.
>>98369307soulforged souls can't use... anything anymorethey can only scream
>>98369278>Demons are straight-up sterile despite nephilim/laham being a thing in owodfor decades before Down-to-Fuck was released. It'll never not be funny to me that they made demon's initials DTF, made an entire house of them into basically succubi, and then made them all sterile.
>>98369354in theory that's true but come the adventure where sam became a skinwalker was awful. it's not about him for 90% of the time and then he just shows up and winsthe book even says that regardless of how well and fast you manuver his minions and traps he will have the ritual finished and prepare the room to be able to escape ... despite only being a rank 1 garou ghoul at the time and the party being a entire pack of either rank 3 or 4
>>98369360Surely the mighty Sam Haight would overcome such hurdles>they can only screamSo if I gave my ex a soulforged mirror would it torment him with its screams?
>>98369369just gotta buy some of the pearls from former ebony legion annunaki! not kidding they still have some of these in Thala-m'kudan (bastion realm) and at least one of them already remembered how to make them the only reason there aren't any nephilim toddlers running around in dtf is because most demons think they went to far with that one and the ones that didn't instead think that the nephilim are too flawed and that the relic needs improvment before they start breeding nephilim 2.0s
>>98369307He did resurrect himself by possessing a kinfolk, which means he's back to being a Garou Skin Dancer. Which means he can still be a ghoul and a sorcerer, since Skin Dancers don't have the vitae allergy that naturally born Garou do.
>>98369375>So if I gave my ex a soulforged mirror would it torment him with its screams?sometimes. sometimes soulforged material only screams when it hits something and sometimes it only makes sad little moans, sometimes it whisper unintelligibly and most of the time it doesn't do anythingthe souls in general are so far gone that the hierachy can claim that the soul is not sentient anymore although some people doubt that they don't have proof to the contrary
>>98369369It's actually a really christian spin. God basically commands "Breed you Fuckers" at humanity multiple times throughout the bible a la:"Multiply your children until they are as numerous as the stars""Be Fruitful and Multiply"There are even rules against pulling out.Demons being unable to "be fruitful" is a big glowing sign god isn't happy with them.
>>98369394>most of the time, it doesn’t do anything Damn it, back to the enchanting books then
>>98369397>There are even rules against pulling out. What?

>>98369375>Surely the mighty Sam Haight would overcome such hurdlesyeah with the power of friendship. not even kidding in the w20 adventure he might come back (for 1 scene before the players put him in the ground again) because the skindancer bring him back with a ritualthe chief skindancer also if i remember correctly even gives up his own body for sam to use
>>98368319Very based take. Though I'm curious, as someone who didn't really get into WtF until 2e, what was the one step backwards it had?
>>98369570You know what to do.

Why are the "Drowned Legacies" called drowned legacies? Like, what's the logic behind the moniker?>>98369584You can throw a brick and then use it to build something. Let us do both.
>>98368480This is gWoD, right? Please tell me it's gWoD.
>>98369629My pulled out of my ass explanation is that they're called Drowned because whatever vampires started embracing in the new world would've needed to traverse an entire ocean in the age when basically no cultures had vessels worthy of a cross-ocean journey. So they had to pull some Pirates of the Caribbean shit to get there.
>>98369640Image reverse search is free, retard, the art's from Curseborne
>>98369629>Why are the "Drowned Legacies" called drowned legacies?Because of the native's assosiation with the rivers and the fact they were "suffocated" by western kindred is probably the reason for the name, there is also some bullshit tied to the Liabon but I don't remember much about it.
>>98368319>the thing I hate most is they're too overtuned.Fair enough. Personally I don't mind trading a bit of fun options I won't know I'm missing at first in exchange for a more cohesive gameplay. And maybe conditions won't be that harrowing if I try to have them on from the beginning. Alright anon, I'll give it a spin. MtAs schizo reality ear and WtA's Pentex stuff looks tempting, but I'll enter the magical realm first.
I do wonder somewhat why Curseborne is the way it is. I remember roughly that some of the production was involved with WoD so seeing something kind of purposefully cringe like this (deviant art OC aside) feels weird. WoD is kind of tastefully cringe in comparison.
>>98369629because middle and south america are rainy and wet is the only thing you are going to get out of canonwe know next to nothing about the drowned legacies beside the fact that they exist for all we know rasputin might just have made the name up while becket and vykos been waterboarding him
>>98369415Onanism, though it came to refer to masturbation, was originally the sin of failing to fulfill the marital duty of husband to wife, pulling out instead of cumming inside. Typically exegetized in most denominations as follows:>God intended sex to be unitive between man and woman and also procreative. To be capable of both of these things (i.e. not sterile, paralyzed, etc) and to intentionally sever one from the other is disordered and sinful. For example, sex thta is not unitive/loving is sinful. Sex that intentionally tried to prevent the procreative aspect is also sinful though there's a bit more leeway in this second part as even the stricter theologians think that as long as the sex act involves at least 1 act of procreative intercourse then it's probably fineAll of this within the bond of marriage yadda yadda yaddaIt needs not be said that most christians are not even aware of this nor do they observe it strictly. Even churches that used to do so like the Catholic church have quietly given up on following and enforcing it. Much like laws on how christian women are supposed to wear veils at church or otherwise wear their hair short

>>98369986Anon, the old testament rules still apply. Jesus Specifically said so.There are specific individual rules that got lifted individually(like eating pork), but the majority are still in effect.
>>98369990and this is because you don't need spheres above 5 to do godlike feats.this means that all mages with entropy 5 can actually do what he does.

>>98369962>They get fucking-bitchlapped for using itParadox is only a huge problem in one edition and only for mages who think coincidental magic is for cowards.>there spells do or don't work for completely arbitrary reasons that change with timeThe malleable nature of the universe is an important part of the game and the fight to shape the universe to make your magic supreme is the primary conflict of the game.>True Magick isn't even the "most powerful" type of magic like it's hyped up to be, it's just versatile. The power comes from the flexibility and from prolonged rituals rather than combat spells. Being able to throw together an outside-of-the-box solution to most problems with enough prep time is what allows mages to potentially outmaneuver vampires and werewolves, but most mages will eat shit if you drop them in a room with a werewolf or vampire with zero prep time.
>>98369999>>98369999Nice quads, interesting stuff to read about. I guess I probably should be reading the bible myself though I'm not really a believer. I sort of reflected on what one of the anons said earlier and it does make sense, modern practitioners of even more conservative religions like Islam just pick and choose what they believe in and just hold on to religion more for culture than because it's something they actually believe in.>>98370000Two quads is pretty wild
>>98370015he gets extra dice from having the benefit of "practically all backgrounds" which includes consors/acolytes and other nephrandi that can add their dicewith a time effect he could just compress the extended casting to a second
>>98370015The amount of successes required is completely up to the ST and completely up in the air, more or less. Perhaps all Asswad can indeed roll more dice than god, who knows. He's pretty much a god.Since you're clearly a rules lawyer, the rule which restricts rituals with more successes to longer times is an optional rule, so whatever amount of successes he's gonna need isn't actually gonna take all that long.Really if the big ol' asswad was trying he would have far scarier always-on buffs than the ones he's portrayed as having.
>>98369962It’s only like that because paradox has to be extremely punishing otherwise it becomes near impossible to justify the setting at large being “real world as we know but with monsters hiding in the shadows” (why don’t hermetics just summon dragons on top of the black suits chasing them)Pretty much every splat aside from vampire (who have weaknesses much easier to exploit) have the issue that they outclass normal humans so badly, the lore has to set up a convoluted reason for why they don’t rule humanity as god kings, usually some variant of “your predecessors fucked up epically”>woofs: spent too much time killing each other and their allies and are now stuck alone against an enemy with the resources to exploit their weaknesses >mage: pissed off normies so much that when a faction of them broke off and said they’ll make magic extinct they ate it up like nectar from the gods, resulting in a bored accountant being able to make them disappear just by seeing them cast spells>changelings: the same accountant can nullify their powers and slowly kill them just by being nearby because their fae ancestors used boredom nukes extremely liberally Can’t say much about demon, wraith and mummy, but I’m confident that the pattern continues
>>98370034I don't think there's enough living nephandi to get that many successes, the population density required would be enough to create several nephandic reality zones. Nephandic reality zones are Very loud and obvious
>>98370043Paradox in mage is kind of limpdicked once you realize that most good spells are either coincidental or can be cast within a sanctum. It really only punishes fireball mages, and even then only really on botches.
>>98370050The ghetto is a nephandic reality zone?
>>98370064Paradox is very punishing in Revised, even for successful vulgar spells. But this is only the case for Revised, which is reviled due to the "you will be stuck on earth, you will use coincidental magic, you will get cucked by Technocrats" philosophy that it tried to force on the entire Mage community.
>>98370069far louder. detroid is too nice to be a nephandic reality zone
>>98370043>Can’t say much about demon, wraith and mummy>WraithThe Hierarchy enforces the dictum mortum, a magical law forbiddening wraiths from fucking with the living too much. The power behind it is enough that it causes "The Fog", a mental effect exactly like delirium that happens whenever a mortal sees ghosts or arcanoi in action(Basically, wraith have delerium)>MummiesThese guys have zero rules to be secret. Their limit is that they'll bleed out all their magic and die if they leave the israel-egypt area, and that place is considered a fucking lost cause by the technocracy. There's a giant mind effect preventing the rest of the world seeing the magic carpets flying next to 747's in the sandbox countries.>DemonsThey're actually an anti-concensus splat. They don't want to keep secret and all of them plan to "Go Loud" the moment the earthbound wake up an sart chucking cities into orbit.Demon is the game you use to put a time limit on the masqurade.
>>98370076I thought the majority of people played M20. I hardly ever see other editions except in the context of what was once canon, old mechanics, old lore.
>>98370086A lot of people are put off of M20 by its extremely poor editing and Brucato's obnoxious style of writing. It's still the most played edition of Mage, but there's a significant community of players who sing the praises of Revised and how much more concise its magic system is.
>>98370086Nah, VTM sales beat mage by a landslide. Mage just attracts more autists that fixate on the game and talk about it constantly.
>>98370097>who sing the praises of RevisedWe really are in a shitty timeline.2e would blow these newfags minds.
>>98370078>the moment the earthbound wake up an sart chucking cities into orbitTHE FUCK?
>>98370098we are talking about mage>>98370097so what's actually supposed to be better about revised? I don't really read Brucatos musings on the relationship between magic and fascism, even if they are in the book. Editing, I suppose? Fair enough, but once you've got the rules down it becomes quite moot. Also you can feed the PDF into any modern LLM and have it flag even the vaguest description of the passage you are looking for. Takes like thirty seconds.
>>98370113>THE FUCK?Huh, that was the first thing the technocrat said when he saw it too.
>>98370119Mostly just editing, the rules of magic are summed up in less than a dozen pages, which lots of people cheer on in comparison to M20 failing to cover magic with a hundred pages and then requiring an entire other book to detail how magic works. Plus there's the hatred of Sphere bloat, with a lot of people preferring the lower Sphere requirements of older editions.
>>98370119Revised is a lot more informative about how magic actually works and how to use spheres
>>98370077Chiraq?
>>98368458You could have it be like the old rpgs where the player controls a party to at least give more variety to how the characters look or playAlternatively you could just make something like shin megami tensei/Persona (Actually that might be the best way yo play changelings even on table top)
>>98369985Soultaker gives you LoresYou use Naming/Ren to first get rid of all the negatives of vampirism/reach Golconda blood god status & raise your Generation to whatever youd like (though id personally go no higher than 4th since theres no solid rules past that that I know of) you could even turn yourself into a super ghoul if you want to graft True Magick on you that way. After that, depending on whatever interpretation of the rules you go with, you can either bond the Avatar to you or turn it into an item that grant the powers of the avatar to whoever holds it sort of like the World Tree staff or just command it to do magic on your behalf & keep it in a box.>>98370008So can the player>>98369994They might very well come after you who knows. Maybe your ST sends Caine himself to wreck your shit like WoDs version of Adam Smasher.
>>98370043Mummies only real weakness is that they are region locked & grossly outnumbered.
>>98370113Least crazy Earthbound plot.Earthbound are like Archmages with no Paradox or filters
>>98370167I really want to know what the fuck was going through the writer's head when he made a background thst makes all magic 10x more powerful per dot taken.
>>98369579Death rage rules are too harsh with how destructive and hard to tard wrangle a pack mate already is without being contagious, and I don't like how werewolves can have kids. I get not wanting ghost children in the setting, but they should've made them sterile. I like most of the changes to Wolf-Blooded, but I don't like they made it less inheritable. They wanted to get rid of the possibility of a Kinfolk situation even though inheritance was already so spotty it wasn't really viable. Logically, it wouldn't even stop Ivory Claws from continuing to abduct Wolf-Blooded for breeding programs anyway since they're fanatics, and since when have fanatics ever cared about things that contradict their worldview? I dislike the Predator King Sacred Hunt because I got the vibe in 1e that they weren't that kind of hunter. I thought of them as the type who would hunt for sport as an act of superiority and domination over prey.Speaking of vibes, the tone of 1e was more bleak, but not in a "woe-is-me, life is misery, no fun allowed" way Requiem 1e was, and I liked that. While I do understand and agree with wanting to tone it back, I liked how it portrayed it as difficult for most werewolves to function in mortal society and feel they over-corrected on it. I think they also got a bit too loose with who is considered a member of the pack even if I do think it should technically be an option to consider a bunch of witless humans part of it.>>98369611You do get that vibe, but with how Clarity functions, it's not as harsh and is such an easy way to farm beats that it defangs it. CtL 2e may have excised the busted but fun Pledge system, but it was replaced with a bunch of powers that let you turn your brain off and brute force your way through situations with mystical might rather than being clever.>>98369680It's not that much more cohesive. I'd say it lost the plot and devolved down into a magical realms power fantasy that reeks of developer favoritism.
>>98370076>you will be stuck on earthWhat the fuck was their problems? No, really, why do they hate the Umbra so much?
>>98370308Figure they hate the Umbra because it's triple divorced from the urban setting they want you to focus on. Every other splat is some level of Urban primarily but with Mage if you go umbra you can make the entire chronicle just the umbra. A bit harder to do that with changeling or werewolf, and Wraith is technically spooky urban.
>>98370297It all loops around to breeding people moderately related to werewolves, doesn't it?
>>98370308The original premise of Mage was that you are an undercover wizard who has to find a way to disguise the magic that they wield, in a hostile world that doesn't believe that you should exist. When that wizard can just fuck off away from Earth and blast aliens with fireballs on the surface of Mars instead, that completely ruins the gritty hidden magic premise. So rather than try to find a way to incentivise staying on Earth, they effectively deleted the Umbra in its entirety in an effort to prevent the I'm-just-going-to-fuck-off-into-space-and-have-gonzo-sci-fi-adventures playstyle.
>>98370135>Soultaker gives you Loressoultaker, my beloved, allows you to use it's lores it doesn't gives you the lores yourself for most part this means the same thing as long as you hold the sword and it's happy with you, but it does lock you out of dtf's infamous crafting and ritual systems because those need you yourself to know said lores and that you can't raise those lores without killing a demon who knows them because soultaker as a item can't spend expthis is done because otherwise soultaker would completely break reality because even at base it remembers all lores at 1 dot and demon crafting only needs the first dot of a lore to be able to craft items that can use any of the 5 and combine it with any other lore powers (if the material is fancy enough) you know
>>98370324>>98370340Wow, imagine coming up with ways mages can interact with the umbra then walking it back because people had a choice in how they went about playing their roleplaying game. Motives beyond our comprehension.
>>98369754It wasn't even that. It was considered a man's duty to impregnate his dead brother's wife if he didn't leave behind any heirs so he'd have someone to carry on his lineage. Onan didn't want to raise a kid he didn't consider his, so he kept on pulling out.

>>98370444Yes. He was being selfish and screwing over his brother's legacy. While not in the text itself, do to how society was, he was also technically screwing over his brother's wife since she'd have nobody to take care of her when she got old.
>>98370448fallen are surprisingly hard to put into a box compared to other demons (even those that are way more powerful than a playable elohim) because they can use most items as reliquaries and are 100% immune against mind control with the only exception being order issued with their true name and even then that might only apply when the other party is also a demon.. because non demons can "use" true names like that is a whole thing in dtf where several books give contradictory information because dtf's first books been rushed out while the project lead was in a hospitalit's not impossible, baba yaga did have a earthbound as general after all just way harder than "let's use spirit manipulation"

>>98370575It's not even the first time Charon went out for milk there's no way the head spooks crumbled like that.
>>98370575we already knew that in revised it was even a major plot point in HTR that the only choice wraiths had was to flee into the skinlands or be destroyed. dtf also mentioned that the maelstrom was turning every wraith it touched into a spectre that joined the storm sharknado style which is probably grandma(w) now that i think about it... and both slayer demons and hollow one mages been trying to save every wraith they could by building artifical feters and in the case of the later save zones in the real world where wraiths could surrive without themfae society was also destroyed in revised with winter being there and the few remaining fae fading away althought that was retconned for TOJ but then again TOJ itself is only semi canon at best
The Umbra needed more definition to have a lair of spirit world thats close to the real world but not too freaky. Then we can scoop up all that Far Umbra/Horizon Realm/Space but full of spirt nonsense & call it something else & have a different way to get there. The real underlying problem is that they just kept shoving stuff into the Umbra or making pocket realms that weren't well defined & then when asked "where the fuck is the Dreaming?" people just dumped it in the Umbra. We need more Doors & Thresholds like the Shroud & the Gauntlet & not expect one facet of the setting to hold everything up. The Umbra was supposed to be the equal but different sister of the Underworld
>>98370579The funniest thing about the whiteroom autists is that they make the most vulnerable characters. They put all their points into combat abilities and next to nothing into mundane background and social abilities. This is the World of Darkness, being a combat twink doesn't protect your friends and family from the minions of a pissed off prince, doesn't keep your identity protected from the government snoopers, doesn't help you find the skub and macguffins you need, doesn't help you win the big players to your side, etc, etc.A half-decent ST will run circles around a white-roomer. >>98371548Depends, is your goal here to have strike force zero agents that can get into a fistfight with a brujah elder and probably win?You can gat a shit ton of actions-per-round on a mortal with the implants in there, raise all their physicals to 8-9 range, give them one dot in every knowledge and talent, let them soak lethal/aggrivated, poison/disease immunity, the ability to heal from almost dead in a couple days, immunity to damage penalties, and 9 health levels instead of 7.All of it lowers maximum humanity, but most human monster-fighters aren't going to have a humanity over 4-5 anyway.

>>98371548>Anyone here played with future darkness before? The msin issue is that it's annoying as fuck to actually get the full material together for it. The magazine supplement leaves out the resources and humanity/empathy point cost for implants. The goal there was to trivk people into buying both the VtM and cyberpunk 2020 books to play.I'd also suggest adding energy costs to using the implants. Since you're using DHX, use Chi from that book. Have Physical boosters cost yang chi and mental boosters/chips codt yin. Passives should cost 1 Chi every day as upkeep and activated implants use 1 chi on activate. This keeps shit from going too crazy.>>98371649Ptetty sure your elder killer would be at humanity 1

Considering people keep saying m20 is just horribly written and terrible to get into while revised has the most punishing paradox rules and what not, have there been attempts to fix this problem at all? Like, has anyone tried to make a dump of notes from m20 dissecting shit for the core rules? It just seems like maybe mage is less popular because of the specific issues of m20 and revised, and not just because mage spell autism or whatever. I've wanted to get into mage myself, but I never really notice people discussing already created or otherwise potential solutions to the problems of m20 or revised.

>>98371846I'm not even entirely complaining about being ass-raped too hard by paradox, it just seems like the common complaint about revised is that it goes too far with its paradox rules. I'm also admittedly not as interested in dark ages. I'm mostly interested in a solution to m20 and revised because it seems like they're the go to editions for most of the community whenever people talk about mage. Also getting to use the more up to date content of the newer editions of mage is a nice bonus.
>>98371840Its not worth fixing what's broken when you can just use other rules in the first place. Some people run older editionsSome people treat Sorcerers like MagesSome people use Dark Ages (my preferred fix)Theres literal 1000s of pages of worthless stupid fart sniffing & poorly implemented rulings & rules drowning anything decent about M20. You can use it for the non-magical rules. Its got a good list of weapons & stuff like that, put as soon as you want magic, ditch it for something else. It doesnt take much effort to fill gaps either since the whole thing is largely free form to begin with.

Another party member would act as his handler to give him nearly useless tasks when needed, to prevent this
>>98371810I think if they could open up the Web of Faith & actually DO shit outside their region locks they'd be able to recruit more people. It's quite a shame that the Akritai haven't really been expanded upon. They are supposed to be the frontiersmen in Eastern Europe who have been protecting their kinsmen since the 9th century.Realistically they would've been among the first hunters who would have to deal with some of the most ancient of supernaturals, like the Old Tzimisce in Romania, kindred who where in Byzantium, or the Black Furies(Digenis Akritas was said to have dealt with amazons after all).I feel like White Wolf doesn't really view them as anything more than "inquisitors but orthodox" and even had them be absorbed by the Russians which is a huge shame.
>>98371958Its not like metagame retcons like the Avatar Storm havent happened before. There could be a new Spell of Life that allows for different rules or easier ways of gaining Sekhem. Or, like I said, Mummies should be taking a page out of the Vampire's & Demon's playbook & start creating cults where they can feed off of their faith. Lets say a minimum of 10 followers gives you a Sekhem a day, make it a 5 dot Background starting with 10 followers & gaining more with each dot. For each dot of Cult/Followers you have, you gain another Sekhem. Now, all this being said, the Mummy books clearly state that Quintessence & any Effect that grants Quint grants Sekhem. Meaning that Mummies can just feed off of Nodes, & the Web of Faith is probably more of a cultivated Web of Nodes that have been crafted to benefit Mummies more. So your Mummy could either take the node background or the Mana manipulation Sorceries & not have to deal with the limitations of the Web of Faith, if anything their Balance rating becomes more of a hindrance for them than anything else. (This should also allow a mummy to take the Mana merits that let them lower difficulties & such by paying Sekhem too

They're usually all identical though, so you wouldn't be able to have a visibly different one for stuff.>tarot cards: already go with the spooky goth vibes of the WoD. >>98372457>Is the Umbra that different from the Dreaming?Yeah.
>>98372457umbra refers to all the otherworldly realms outside of earththe dreaming is in the umbraas are the shadowlands/underworld also called low umbrathe spirit realms (WTA land) also called the middle umbraand the astral realms also called the high umbra each one of these (including the dreaming) also has roads that lead into each other although some are hidden and unsafebut the dreaming has some special rules unlike the middle and high umbra because well it's the dreaming same with the underworlds and the digital net (yes that's also a umbra dimension)
I don't think it's that you should ONLY focus on street tier urban fantasy, but that there should be a sense of progression. You know? A lot of long running franchises introduce a new thing that is supposed to be unique and strange, and now that it's an option people want to devalue it by using it over and over again immediately. I want to see a Mage start out street level and not know what the umbra is grow into an archmage and discover it. Once it's been printed once it's just one dice roll away from reading in a wizard library or discovering or just kind of Knowing because it's Known Information. You see it a lot with D&D. Players know about shit like mind flayers and vampires. That means my character just has to roll well on a history check, or whatever, to know all about it too. In reality, the average person isn't gonna know about that shit at all, because it's supposed to be a rare occurrence. Then you have new players join after the fact, and experienced players throw them into the deep end and they assume this is how the game has always been played forever.
>>98371840Ark City: Arcane Blues is a game I like for playing weird mages. It's very different though. Much lighter and goofier than WoD.

>>98372505It's one of those concessions in the setting to make it vaguely plausible that vampires could stay hidden. It just wouldn't be an option if it was a guaranteed trip to the hospital or morgue for anyone bitten.
WtFAnon from a few threads back, got a campaign format question. I like the idea of a roadtrip for the campaign, the pack have to get from A to B in order to fulfill some goal (to be decided). Since it's a roadtrip, the format can be a bit stricter. The players have to get from Newcastle to Southend-on-Sea. I've roughly marked out some routes they can take, and have marked various towns and areas with certain dominant threats. It feels to me (in a similar way to HtV) that a strength of Werewolf is that can you cross swords with almost any faction and you don't need to do too much narrative contortion to justify it. Each city/town has a dominant threat that the local Uratha pack are struggling to deal with, and would accept help from the PCs in exchange for passage through their territory. That, or the pack is on its last legs and the PCs can avenge them and gather some wolf-blooded and new members. There's room for the PCs to go off-track, in which case there'll still be territories in the rural areas and threats etc, but just as a baseline I think pic related should work. Are there any monsters or splats you think I should include or cut back on? The Vampire block is from my previous campaigns, as are the Slashers etc at the end-goal.
>>98372547>roadtrip>barely 5 hours longWoof, I always feen bad for the UK when I remember how it's the size of a postage stamp.Other than that my only advice is use what you are passionate about, and what the players like too. I see you have an "idk" gap in there. Don't be afraid of quantum orcs. You can take an idea from a different pit stop and swap it in somewhere else if you want. That'd be frowned upon in, like, an actual published product, but for a home game it makes sense to save effort where you can.
>>98372547> Are there any monsters or splats you think I should include or cut back on?sheffield is known to have a lot of ghost stories for some reason and geist/woof interactions are always fun

When a vampire uses Blush of Life to eat food, do they have diarrhea after?
>>98372692I like to think they don't actually digest it. They must either vomit it up later or shit out solid undigested food chunks.
>>98372692unless they have the eat food merit they need to work their hardest to not vomit it out on the spot even with the blush of lifewith the blush of life they need to vomit (or cut) it out later blush of life just imitates body function to fit in better with the prey it does not actually turn you back alive
>>98372692Even with Eat Food and Blush of Life active, they have to throw up any real food they eat.The exception is blood that's come from a guy who's taken drugs, for some reason. Unless you want your vampires throwing up every time they drink from a smoker or alcoholic.
>>98372692Depends, are you using the old eats food merit or V5 humanity rules? By V5 rules they can digest more things as their humanity goes up.>>98372694That's the case if you have the eats food merit.
>>98372751>The exception is blood that's come from a guy who's taken drugs, for some reason. Unless you want your vampires throwing up every time they drink from a smoker or alcoholic.that's actually consistent it's also how magic potions work for vampiresmakes me wonder if they could eat something that's "bloody" enough like i know the nagaraja and that one giovanni familly eat raw meat but is that something unique to them?
>>98372751Drugged blood is still blood. It's not the same as a whole cheese burger.
Ghouls feel expensive to make and maintain. What do you use them for? I guess if you live in a place where it's hard for a vamp to hold down a job it can make sense to have a pay pig. Maybe you take on a doctor or something who can steal blood from work for you?
>>98372766I feel like being a cannibal is the big downside of vampirism. I'd say eating raw human flesh filled with blood would be fine if I were storyteller. If a player wanted to make human hotdogs to eat at a tailgate party, that'd need a deeper conversation.
>>98372780i am less talking about hot dogs which after all has non flesh parts but morethey can drink animal blood most of them can also drink stale blood both is just not as good as fresh human blood and they can eat human flesh so could they just rip into a cow? would that have to be rare?
>>98372787If animal blood is already less than human blood, then animal flesh would be even less effective than that, since the blood is further diluted by the meat. It might physically fill you, but I wouldn't say it removes any Hunger.
>>98372795seems reasonable i was looking for a exploid or something i was just curious on where others think the line is
>>98372566Hey now, it could take up to seven hours if there's traffic! Since it'll be run on a VTT I'll have to prepare some maps etc ahead of time if there's going to be any encounters, so there'll definitely be some quantum-shenanigans afoot.>>98372603That's a good idea. IIRC Geists and Werewolves don't have any real overlap despite both Ghosts and Spirits getting stuck in Twilight? I could pitch a Krewe and present them as regular hunters until some shenanigans unfold. I've not read Geist in years (I know it got a 2nd edition), but I don't remember all that much about it. A loci ontop of an avernus gate (?) sounds like it'd piss everyone off that can detect or be affected by it.
>>98372838> IIRC Geists and Werewolves don't have any real overlap despite both Ghosts and Spirits getting stuck in Twilight?yeah that's kinda the thing they are very different beings with somewhat similair jobs who work with a different clientele so geist and werewolf interactions can range from the understanding only people in the same buisness can have even if they don't work for the same company to the werewolves coming to the conclusion that geists are a kind of spirit ridden and much inbetweenand if Bone Shadows are involved the relationship tends to be more extreme but extreme in either direction depending on what the geist see them do with the death gifts
>>98372850>the werewolves coming to the conclusion that geists are a kind of spirit riddenThis is presented as the default approach, for what it's worth. Arguably not totally wrong, since in a literal sense a Sin-Eater is a geist possessing a corpse.
City Council of Darkness ended recently. How did I feel about it?
>>98372871>>98372850Since Geists aren't Spirits, how apparent would the actual Geist be to something like an Ithaeur? The Crescent Moon gifts that are about exposing spirits etc is explicitly just for spirits. It's a reasonable assumption that if it looks like a Ridden, smells like a Ridden etc, I'm just wondering if there's some unique mechanical interaction I'm overlooking that can carry some weight, rather than defaulting to "raah sneaky Ridden, hunt kill". Ridden are meant to be culled, not negotiated with so I wouldn't fault the PCs if that was their assumption. Geist characters aren't especially tough to put-down if I'm remembering correctly (underworld stuff aside).
>>98372898yeah this is the thing they don't ping as spirits or spirit related at all but they seem awfully close so that can cause confusion and even disagreement between werewolves on what they are
>>98372893Like you were the only one here that watched it
>>98372898Geist are extremely possessive over their bodies. They can't really be exorcised, and will resurrect their bodies if killed -- that means a particularly insulted Bound will become a recurring problem. Also, at least in 1e, they had the power to spend plasm to negate damage, and plasm is the easiest resource to generate in the game.
>>98372925been a while but i think the only thing 2e added is that if you can replicate their original death that this can kill them but depending on what that was this can be annyoing to pretty much impossible in most combat scenarios
>>98372925Sounds like a recurring antagonist to me?>>98372910That's a shame. I think I'd want to present them as having travelled in the opposite direction to the PCs, heading north, from Peterborough to Sheffield on the trail of whatever is causing these zombies (no clue what that'd be yet), and while the PCs could see them as Hunters, they'd be able to engage in bizarro necromantic shit that smells like danger. They're working towards a common cause, but only trust and mutual respect will allow that happen. What would be causing something like that for Geists, the only thing I can actually remember from the first book is gates to the underworld that krewes generally guard and protect. I don't think the 1e/nWoD books had clear "designated antagonists" like the 2e books do (Strix, Idigams, Slashers etc).
>>98372940if you want them to be antagonistic there are several way to do thatwerewolves are known to think that spirit like beings even if they don't ping as spirits are probably spirits most obvious example being the japanese tengu or strix as vampire know them being classed as spirit by werewolvessecond is that if you hunt people you create ghosts and that can cause geists to come after you and those geists can also just get the wrong pack because they are also not going to be professors in werewolf lore
>>98372191They did this with pretty much every Hunter group that wasn't in the original Hunters Hunted, or Demon Hunter X, but nobody read Demon Hunter X. Muslims get one group that's barely a footnote. Same with Jews. I can't even recall an oWoD Protestant hunter group. And that's just the ones tied explicitly to abrahamic religions.
>>98372468>umbra refers to all the otherworldly realms outside of earthI Fucking hate this revised retcon so much. It forced everything to be part of the spirit bullshit when we had so many more types of places before.Hollow Earth used to be a hidden spatial dimension accessable through pure corredpondence. The digital was litareally a VR highway made by mages hidden in the internet.Parallel timelines were their own things with their own umbras. The changw makes the setting smaller and more generic with zero benefits. It's like when authors will write their story on a small continent, but then retcont that continent into being the Only important landmass, killing potential for any further story.
>>98372505Like most of the upswings of vampirism, that's the result of Lilith's magic, not God's curse. And thus, not as well explained. But it tracks to me that the predatory giga-whore would make sure the bite feels good. It's also just a solid predator adaptation. Makes the person being fed on far less likely to fight back. It's also important to note that the pleasure of the kiss isn't necessarily orgasmic. Sometimes it's soft, cloying, like a heroin hit. It feels good in a way that can only be likened to normal experiences, and even those can pale in comparison.
>the /co/ thread died without replacementMakes sense though, there isn't actually anything to talk about except Blue hair (or teal as I've been informed) is surprisingly mature for a woman of her nature.

>>98373243>If we want non-bible vampires, they can't be kindred.Strongly disagree. I'll also cut the gordian knot of this argument and say that the problem with KotE is it's grafted onto VtM. You say they "can't be Kindred" but the book is titled "Kindred of the East". The reason they're so maligned is simple. They're not vampires, but they're hard written into vampire in a way that say, werewolves and mages aren't, and worst of all, they're written as mutually exclusive to Vampires. No vampires in china, no Kuei-Jin outside of east asia, except for two west coast american cities that serve as a designated PvP zone. If you remove them, you have to homebrew from scratch the east asian vampire political scene, which is more work than most STs want to do. But they have an entirely different appeal and shtick from vampires, so don't be surprised when a lot of people hate them. Imagine if you wanted to run a game in say, Belgium, only to be told "sorry, Nekkers and Kludde only. They stop all vampiric infiltration of their holy, austere marshes." It's to the detriment of both VtM and KotE that it is the way it is. It should be a fully separate splat, plain and simple.
>>98373197>at which point its effectvely just a V20 supplement anyway, not its own splat.Every so often I actually toy with the idea of homebrewing up myself a proper Vampire setting for China. Haven't gotten terribly far, but I'm pretty sure I'd want the progenitor of the local Ventrue Lineage to be Yu the Engineer/Yu the Great, or at least, is claimed to have been him.

>>98373489>What other splats are there?Largely minor splats grafted onto other gamelines. Hsien are another "East" splat that have absolutely fuck-all to do eith their "core" gameline. >>98373530Thatd be fine, but I dont want to see a gameline made for each individual one that would be overkill. Some of those already share a book
>>98373678>Some of those already share a bookThat's why folding them into a single book should be easy. The tricky part would be weird interactions between numina.Imbued and Inquisitors would probably have some nice faction conflict too. The faithful servants of a higher power and the chosen of what may or may not be that higher power, with lots of strange overlaps and differences to how their abilities works.
>>98373658NTA but ive always thought a good solution to Garou Nation v BSDs with no third faction could be solved with a big movement for strays. Have a group of garou who dislike the Nation & maybe theyre litany breakers but not evil, they focus hard on finding all those lost kids or ronin & trying to keep everyone together.
>>98373672B-
>>98373694Its sad the best book in CofD was HtV. Some how even with Imbued, Hunters Hunted, Inquisition & all of that, oWoD would have really benefitted from HtV
>>98373706I think the reason why they never did this, despite the fact that it is super obvious, is that it is super obvious.World of Darkness is supposed to be horror, the writers always thought this, especially for vampire. But also for Werewolf. But their take on werewolves, despite the rage, despite Gaia dying was lacking well... bleakness. Shittyness. So they forced plenty of it in via the Garou Nation, constantly shitting on your plate with their retarded politics. So presumably the writers thought Ronin would be too well off if they had literally anything. Just my 2 cents.
>>98373725I still think Bone Gnawers & Glasswalkers should be less a tribe(s) & more a faction. Corporate Silverfangs & mafia Shadowlords living in the cities doing their thing but urbanized & the Nation just calls them Gkasswalkers (derogatory) then youd have Bone Gnawers being garou who are urbanized but not loving it, Strays running soup kitchens & struggling to keep all the young garou in their care from killing each other, killing mortals, or falling to the Wyrm. Theres so much more to work with if you take those two Tribe out of the equation & make them more of a Faction. Bone Fnawers coukd come from any tribe, theyre just urban hobo werewolves. Similar with Glasswalkers except theyre living in penthouses.
>>98373694>The tricky part would be weird interactions between numina.I have a couple theories on that which could clean up some mechanical weirdness.Multiple book lines(Demon, Sorcerer, Mummy) establish that True Faith, Faith Potential, and the Mana background are all the same thing, with the major difference being mana is what happens when human potential isn't tied to a moral framework and faith potential is what happens when a human has that framework, but no knowledge on how to access their potential. The one outlier to the above is Dark Ages: Inquisitor, but the fact it's close in mechanics to HtR actually gives a potrntial explination for this. Inquisitors(and imbued) could operating on faith potential rather than fully realized True Faith(They don't have True Faith dice added to willpower, a countermagic dicepool, extra willpower points, or passive immunities like their virtual True Faith rating should give), and them cultivating their connection to mana could give them the full benefits(and imbued being barred from mana/sorcery would explain why they can't have True Faith). An inquisitors True Faith powers would be the lower of their Inquisitor rank(Initiate, Acolyte, Advocate, Judge) and their Mana(mraning inquisitors cap at True Faith 4 and need blessed land or holy artifacts to hit True Faith 5).DHX already establishes that chi and blood pool are the same thing, separate from inquisitor conviction or sorcerer mana. A shih with the mana background might be able to spend it in place of Chi though

Another thing that is usually overlooked about the Bound is that their Geist cannot be exorcised because the Geist in question performed a metaphysical fusion between themselves and the human's soul. Methaphysically they are the same soul. In other words you can't exorcise the Geist because it is the body's legitimate occupant. That's also why getting rid of the Geist is a horrible idea, because it leaves the person missing half their soul and spiritually ravaged.

Shark here. Game was canceled again. ST’s health has gone worse. Nothing life threatening but the pain is too much to play. We’re on a three week break. On the plus side we got lots of canceled game exp, so Shark needs only 7 more to max out Koldunism.ST also revealed that Shark’s evolution is locked to after the Egypt arc is down. Plus it is locked behind the “Align yourself with Anubis” plot line. He also revealed that if I went with the “Align yourself with White Howler spirit”, and try to diablerise the Methuselah’s soul with the help of a Garou Legend, founder of his tribe, so they could recover their body… it would just fail.I mean on one hand it just means that I stick to my original plan of becoming the Avatar of the Wyrm and destroy the world. But on the other it kinda suck that they presented me with becoming the new Wyrm of Balance, an alternative to a less evil Shark (I tend to make LG characters, I’m a softie at heart), and when I start planning the first steps I’m confirmed that it would fail.
>>98375371Woof 5 is just a mediocre (derogatory) clean up of the Woof 20.
>>98375392I wish your ST recovers soon.

I'll give it to Vampire Bros (V5 edition,) I don't like V5 but at least the game is playable and doesn't totally rape the lore anymore than you would expect from a 20 year time-skip.Hunter got a pretty ass end of the deal also>Rushed>Zero lore or meta elements to speak of>Sorcerers? What's that?>Numina? What's that?>Imbued? Imbue what?>Force to be a literal street-tier shitter worse than normie Marvel characters like Punisher>Also if you think about joining an org you're a jobber and can't play anymore teehee ;)W5 is just a different game entirely from WtA. You can pretend H5 is Hunter's Hunted 3 but gay, but you can't pretend W5 is Werewolf but gay(er). Even ignoring what happened to the Get, the removal of Metis and the other problematic aspects whitewashes the Werewolves too much. Why did the White Howlers even turn into edgelords if there are no kinfolk to get butthurt over? Why the fuck do Werewolves even fight over if territory literally doesn't matter, no one likes humans, and everyone has mostly the same goal? The setting falls apart if there's literally no obstacle to Werewolf cooperation outside of lofty morals they aren't in a position to maintain.

>>98375436>Some anons think H5 is pretty bad also.As far as I remember H5 is a really boring and forgettable kind of bad media where the main criticism is some variation of "why would I play this game when about 5 others cover the same niche better?"Something like the game also called Sorcerer before WoD Sorcerer was a thing.
>>98375422>>98375433I hope so too. Our group had a lot of medical struggles in the last few months. Ansel/Catalina’s player once had a car accident. >>98375463H5 was meant to replace Vigil and was heavily shilled by Para-Wolf, it also got rushed out the gate which delayed W5 a year or two and likely allowed the lead to get away with all of the awful changes. Most of this is just my theory though.

>>98375488You guessed what the the guy in the book had. ST has Gallstone
>>98375501True, but banes don't want to enter vampires, since they can't escape from a vampire's body and also can't control it either, so you have to trick them. But an enterprising vampire could easily build an assembly line where you conjure spirits, forcibly bind them to vampires, and produce invincible daywalkers. Eventually, even if you target bane spirits and therefore remove them from play, you'll get targeted by Garou who will just assume you're fucking up and try to ruin things, but they don't have a perfect track record with these kind of drug busts.
>>98375493You have a decent chunk of evidence for this game being, mainly some kind of Vigil Clone with how their shit is organized.Idk what they were thinking most of the time.
>>98375542You need to put a huge asterisk when you say easily because anyone besides the Trememes will get their shit psuhd in by a spirit in most cases unless you have some support merits.
>>98375531Oof. My condolences.
>>98362055>These will likely not exist in the Reboot. The "Big Three" (Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage) will be replaced by Demon, Ghost, and Mortal.I know that you want to bring them more to the forefront, but what on Earth do you have in mind for Mortal as a splat?Because the thing about a WoD-like is that 1) It's dark, the monsters of the world are typically the ones holding the power and 2) The supernatural is hiddenA regular mortal is just a guy, which is why the idea of "Mortal" specifically being a splat.Which doesn't mean that they can't get cool stuff, like how the other WoDs had Hunters, and Sorcerers, and psychic powers, and True Faith, and Slashers, etc. And doesn't mean that they can't have their own organizations which hold power in the supernatural world (like how the powerful Pentex had its fair share of mortal bosses iirc, for example).Which doesn't mean they can't have some unique stuff belonging only to them, that the other splats lose alongside their humanity. But it causes some issues when trying to define them so soon. When you say "I want to play Mortal", what are you thinking of? When you say "I want Mortal to come to the forefront", what do you mean?
>>98374608I'd keep something like them around and be the dominant force of vampires in Asia since they were already established before Cainites made it to East Asia. Just change it so non-Asians turn into them too, but because there's nobody to train them up out of the bestial state they arise in, everyone thinks they're a separate phenomena of sometimes corpses spontaneously rising and needing to be put back down. Very few regain their sanity, and the presence of the kindred makes it too difficult for them to meet up and organize.
>>98375392Best wishes for your ST, hope he gets better

>>98375583>SlashersI just remembered that Beasts have a pack mechanic where they form a family with other supernatural creatures. Pretty sure it doesn't work on Mages or Demons, but it does work on Slashers specifically (no other Hunters) and the Gentry. I actually kind of like Beast, even if it does need a little polishing.
>>98374593>>98374631No need to have them all be divine curses. Have the reasons be different. For example, Nosferatu are the children of some vampiric worm god possibly Zmai from the 1e WtF book, Predators, Gangrel the Strix, Mekhet from some shadowy Duhat demon, ect. Drinking each other's blood for generations turned them into Kindred.
>>98375507You know very well why that is incredibly unlikely.
>>98375542>invincible daywalkers.Anon, draugres DO get controlled by the bane. The Death banes that turn vampires into draugr are on the whitelist of banes that can take over a vampire rather than becoming the cainite's bitch. The whitelisted banes are blood, death, and madness banes.Non-whitelisted banes don't make draugr, they make vampires with fomori powers and all the same vampire wraknesses.>TLDR: Would you rather have immunity to sunlight or would you rather keep your free will?
>>98367661>I am still a bit stumped on how to narrow down Demon's niche for the Fan Reboot of Darkness.I think corruption and stuff makes the world worse would fit them. This is a world of darkness, it's worse than IRL Earth: and while every splat would obviously contribute to that, as both one brought to the forefront in this reboot and being, well, demons, it'd make sense for Demon to be a major part of that. So thinking of the ways in which the world is worse, the people crueler, etc, and wondering how demons might have contributed to that, might help in making their niche clearer.Another thing that might help is thinking about the other splats, even the ones that you don't want to be as influential like vampire or werewolf. Because each one probably helps define the others, the niche occupied by one splat is not going to be occupied by another and all that. I've been toying with a couple ideas for vampire, but they are still too premature to tell how workable they are or if they're just random bad ideasBasically I remember a potential theme of Sacrifice being discussed for Vampire and the idea of using Egyptian soul anatomy being considered and mostly discarded for Wraith, and had a random thought that vampires lost a part of their self when they came back from the brink of death as undead and which one they lost determined their x-axis. It probably doesn't work beyond Lasombra expies, I suspect it'll run into issues soon, but I might give it a thought regardless just in case.

>>98375130It'd be a bit weird if IPP wasn't itself immune to shaping effects, as it causes a bunch of issues otherwise. It would mean you should theoretically be able to create Charms that bypass IPP by shaping it and the Exalt at the same time, so it's weird it has never popped up.
>>98375560Vigil was getting a lot of traction a few years back do to some vtubers playing it. The theory is they saw a line they killed was becoming more popular so they wanted to kneecap it.

>>98375436>Some anons think H5 is pretty bad also. It's basically HH but gay and lame. Writer-enforced streetshitter level play is retarded. All the hunter groups are generic spooks because COD bad guys are creative, right? They even managed to rape the legacy hunters and their lore. May Leopold return to earth as God's avenging angel and smite them down for their sins.
>>98375646Oh, definitely. I'm pretty sure there's an expansion Charm that extends the effect to personal property and allies. Probably doesn't effect terrain though. Theoretically further Charms might be able to extend it to a certain radius out, but I don't really want to open that can of worms. That's how you get shit like:>akshually, primordial principle emulation sets the precedent for solars gaining the powers of other splats, sorcery and mage magic are extremely similar, and solars thematically represent human excellence with mages being presented as the pinnacle of humanity, so they can totally create an expansion charm that grants them mage magic. trust.>>98375650And so they pumped out a half-baked shitty knock-off of Vigil nobody liked or care about and poisoned the HtR brand in the process.

The patriach clan and the vampiric patriarch? The clan who dresses up their evil in the trappings of royalty and insist that they are not cursed and just have "refined taste", and the killer who refuses to regret his misdeeds and dresses up his fraticide as "sacrificing what he loved most"? Likelier than you'd think. Maybe.BrujahThe clan prone to frenzy and bad temper, and the person with a temper bad enough to invent murder. Some other anon already talked about how plausible this one is. Maybe.AssamiteThe diablerists with a Discipline about using blood as a weapon? A fairly solid choice for the killer who got cursed to drink blood. I know that their modern diablerism clan curse is not meant to be the original one, but that doesn't mean that you can't draw significant parallels between kinslaying Assamites that hunt other Kindred and the first fraticide. Ideally, the game would be able to accommodate multiple player character goals or even conflicting ones but in my opinion it needs to help STs and players develop a believable narrative core for why they are doing anything in the first place
