After about a year of content, how do you feel about the journal release model?
>>

>TQ
I miss the big books.
>>
>>98390875
>After about a year of content, how do you feel about the journal release model?
I think it's neat. Can just get the journals with stuff I'm interested in, rather than having to fork over a huge amount of cash for a big books when I only want to use 10% of the content in it.
>>
>>98390875
>how do you feel about the books
Not a big fan, GW is just drip feeding content, but the worst part of all is they are doing it at the speed of old people fucking that we wont get through all of it before they end up dropping 4.0.

I Mean FFS we still only have what, 1 legion specific Saturnine unit? Where the fuck is the other 17?
>>
>>98390940
>Where the fuck is the other 17?
Where is every legions specific cata/tartaros terminators? Where is every legions specific jetbike unit/jump infantry? Where is everyones unique destroyers?
>>

If you want break neck release speed go back to 40k you fucking faggot
>>
How do you guys typically transport LIgma minis? Magnetic cases/trays? Foam carry cases?
>>
>>98390965
Not asking for break neck releases, im just asking them to put them out slightly faster then we have been seeing.

>>98390960
I dont care about those, and also im slightly salty over how saturnine are depicted in the lore and books and how fucking gay they are on the table top.
I want legion specific ones because im hoping we will see more true ot form versions of them.
>>
>>98390875
>After about a year of content, how do you feel about the journal release model?
The model? Its fine. But given how basic the units in them often are I feel like they could be a bit faster with it.

>>

Sarcasm is harder to pick up on on the internet. Also I'm autistic as fuck.

And missing like everything they are depicted as weilding as well missing all sorts of things like
>Roto auto canons
>Las canons
>Chain weapons
>Heavy Bolters
>melta canons
They were designed ot be shooting platforms and they kinda suck at that job.
>>
>>98391086
>And missing like everything they are depicted as weilding
They arent because they had fuck all depiction prior. At best you can pull out an image where they have three combi bolters or whatever. Prior to 3e the official stance was that saturnine armor was basically just a weird looking armor functionally the same as regular terminator armor.

>They were designed ot be shooting platforms
And they have an impressive damage output with their specialized shooting weapons when going into the proper targets. Both the plasma bombard and the twin heavy disintegrator are very good at their job.
>>
>>98391086
I'm pretty sure you've never actually played with or against saturnine terminators.

They make an apperance it one of the short stories in the shattered legions. Aboard one of the salamander ships. Vulcan told them to feel from istvaan because they were carrying highly advanced experimental terminator suits he did not want to fall into the hands of the enemies and they were described as walking tanks, armed with all sorts of weapons that we should have gotten but did not.

>>98391207
the D guns suck ass they end up fucking themselves up just as much as they do a target. The plasma Is ok, but the best load out they have is the stock load out. They are just boring otherwise.

>>98391207
I have, i beat them by just walking away, every time i have seen them on the table im never impressed by the result they have. The best thing they do is stin on objective and deny it, which thats a pretty expensive objective sitter.
>>
>>98391290
>They make an apperance it one of the short stories in the shattered legions.
So I am correct then, and they had fuck all appearance before 3e.

>the D guns suck ass
They have high damage into the proper targets.

>>98391290
>but the best load out they have is the stock load out
If youre going to DS bomb them. Otherwise it isnt, because you want them getting use out of their "can fire two guns" rule, which they dont with a fist.

>i beat them by just walking away
So in other words: By not letting them shoot?
WOW! How incredible!.

Saturnines are a slow and durable unit with a strong ranged damage output, their weakness is range, which is good, because with their durability they need counterplay. You fucking retard.
>>
>>98391310
>They have high damage into the proper targets.
The problem i have with D guns is the same on every platform, they are really good at killing MEQ and just OK at killing TEQ, which like, ok a lot of things are able to do that.
>If youre going to DS bomb them. Otherwise it isnt, because you want them getting use out of their "can fire two guns" rule, which they dont with a fist.
Yeah thats my problem with them, is that they dont get to use their double ranged weapons unless you are standing still like a mook, which i mean ok sure they are great mook standers but again, there are so many better options that are way better for cheaper.

Im not saying they are not durable and have decent range, im saying that they are meh at doing that at best.
They cost way to much for not enough damage output.
I would rather see other options on them.
Now their command squad, that one is cool as fuck i like that one.
>>
>>98391310
>So I am correct then, and they had fuck all appearance before 3e.
Anon shattered legion came out in 2017, HH2.0 came out in 2022, that was well before 3e....
So on this point, you are dead wrong lol.
>>
>>98391358
>Anon shattered legion
Is "fuck all".
>>
>>98391340
Anon... you need to read the other disintegrator weapon profiles, past the disintegrator rifle. Heavy- and especially twin heavy disintegrators absolutely rape terminators. Just looking at their stats and knowing basic math tells you that.
>>
>>98391340
>they are really good at killing MEQ
As well as command squads. 2+ no invuln is a very real threat range you need to kill.

>Yeah thats my problem with them
That your heavy guns are not mobile? As opposed to all the other firing platforms, which are?
They are the toughest (or up there) unit in the game, they have ranged guns, they better have a mountain of restrictions and downsides. That is how game design works.

>im saying that they are meh at doing that at best.
Which is wrong. Their damage output is perfectly adequate into the things they want to be firing at.

>They cost way to much for not enough damage output.
They pay for being dreadnought tough infantry. They are t6 3w with a 4++ and reduce the strength of multiple weapon types by 1.

>I would rather see other options on them.
Because you are a retard. And it is a good thing you are not likely to get what you want. Because saturnines CANT have "other options" because what keeps them in check is their restrictions. Without them you just have a ranged unit you cant kill.
>>
>>98390997

DESU i would love a Naufragia unit for them, for dark angels. Seems kinda perfect for them.
Power fist give them a Phosphex canister as a range weapon.

Lore wise Naufragia used power fists and plasma canons/Phosphex canons so i mean, seems like a easy one to do as well since we never got that unit before.

Is there a dedicated checklist for stuff I'll need to put together for an Adeptus Titanicus army? I'm a complete newfag when it comes to painting and building. I'm planning to grab the starter boxes and an airbrush since I've heard that's the best way to paint them but don't know what sort of airbrush to go for. From a brief skim online I've harder & steenbeck are good but thought I'd ask for your opinions here.

As for my current list of shit its: airbrush & all the crap it needs including compressor, paints, a set of brushes including an XL one, scalpels, sprue cutters and a mask.

I was hoping to make my colour scheme something close to pic related with the darker reds being the main part of the body, any ideas on the best way to get those sort of colours and what paints I need would be appreciated.

I'm planning to test them out on smaller minis first before actually painting some warhound titans and moving up. They'll probably look like shit but you gotta start from somewhere.

The titanicus box set is an excellent place to start, if you’re breaking into airbrushing for the first time, start cheap and simple. There’s a few different starter brands. I started with a vevo (or vivo not sure which) and it was great to learn how to air brush with.

There’s a few different titan legio color schemes that incorporate the kind of reds you have here. Legio Ignatum is a good one for loyalists.

The rest of the kit you’re talking about getting will serve you well. Titans are actually super simple to paint. It’s easy to spray the skeleton in your chosen metallic and then paint the armor plates separately, or mask off the armor plates and spray the skeleton. Add some transfers and some fun basing and your off to the races in the true gentleman’s game that is titanicus. Be proud! Because you’re already better than everyone else.

The legions auxilia are going to be under the direct command of an overseer or some other legion consul. Otherwise they wouldn’t BE the legions auxilia. They’re going to perform subordinate actions in tandem, if that’s with the night lords they’ll probably be meat shields. Or an anvil force, a misdirection cadre. Whatever you like.

But yeah they’ll be answering to the legion.

Plan the streets and alleys out first, and then make the buildings. Since city fighting can get vertical perhaps have the buildings ruined so they can't be entered or have the "walls" formed by collapsed stories and the "doors" just be cleared away rubble.
Pick a famous city and take a peak at their street layout, I'd recommend Paris or the Financial District of NYC

>ay gibs me dat
>>
>>98398770
yeah, I've no idea why the lack of a backpack is seen as a big deal to the design. and more to the point a rider will probably never dismount short of severe equipment failure- even honortards like space marines understand that RTB'ing with the bike is probably a more preferable scenario than dismounting it to let it get stolen by the enemy or destroying it unnecessarily.

>>
>>98400135
>I disagree, the vast majority of heresy armies are GW bought
Anon i have some bad new for you, they are lying to you if you think thats the case.
I have been in this hobby for over 15 years i have been to many tournaments and gatherings. I can count on 1 hand the number of times i ever saw someone show up with a legit FW titan.
I have in my 15 years only ever seen ONE person who had a full FW army, and that was becuase i was there when they were ordering the shit from GW, and that was only because they got a 50% employee discount.

Every single person i have played at west coast events, have at least half or more of their shit being recast and or 3d prints.
Its only recently that people started getting lots of legit models in their army due to plasics finally being available for line units.
>>
>>98400107
>The only reason that HH is even getting enough support is
That it makes GW money.

GW does not do things that they believe are losing them money, the reason they made HH was that they thought it would be profitable and the reason it remained a thing a decade down the line is that it was profitable. Because selling overpriced resin is good for their bottom line.
>>
>>98400170
Oh its still making them money, because their plastic kits are a godsend to us, but recasters and 3d printers are eating into the potential profits of 30k far more then they are 40k.

Aint no one out there buying legit FW vehicles anymore.
Im not saying they are not making money, ill make that clear, my entire point is this.

Out of all the three big games of theirs, 40k, 30k, and AoS, 30k is the one that has the most 3d and recast stuff out there that is working against GW and if it was not for those recasters and 3d printers i dont personally think HH would be as strong as it is.

People are willing to shell out like 80 bucks for 20 tactical marines and plastic terminators because plastic just is a lot nicer to work with. But no one wants to shell out 250 bucks for a fucking fire raptor gunship, or 125 bucks for a fucking javalin speeder that costs i think less then 100 points in the game?
>>
>>98400153
if we were talking about Old World I'd accept that in a hot second because it's a game with good rules and bad models and no one plays it for aesthetics. Heresy is the opposite it has shit rules and good models, people have always put money down for the resins and continue to put money down for the plastics. The amount of times you've seen a FW titan is the amoung of times I've seen a complete 3d printed heresy army.
>>
>>98400203
>good rules
The rules are dogshit even by gw standards. Game is amazingly streamlined for the most dumbest of retards while still having all the tedium of what a rank and flank entails. I think I would sooner play conquest before I pick up that trash again.
>>
>>98400203
For old world on yeah i agree with you. I think GW finally putting out a lot of shit in plastic is curbing the problem of recasters and 3d printers thankfully, but there is still a lot of it. I would wager if you see a model that is only offered in resin, odds are its a recast. Again i use the fire raptor, aint fucking no one buying that as a legit FW model, for 250 bucks.
>>98400225
I have not played Old world in a hot minute are casters still broken as fuck?
>>
>>98400186
>but recasters and 3d printers are eating into the potential profits of 30k far more then they are 40k.
Are they? Did bethesda lose money because I pirated fallout 4? If I pirate it 200 more times will they lose more money? When I buy a bunch of recast parts GW isnt losing money because I was never going to buy those parts from them.

>Aint no one out there buying legit FW vehicles anymore.
Lmao. Yes they are. Just like people buy legit recons or characters or primarchs. Theyre rare, but they were always rare, FW was always the "prestige" thing few people had. The reason HH worked as a business model is that GW doesent care, they sell a premium product at insane markup which means a small number of people buying it makes them their money (that is/was literally the point of FW, even moreso than warhammer at large).

>and if it was not for those recasters and 3d printers i dont personally think HH would be as strong as it is.
You are conflating cause and effect.
It is recast BECAUSE it was popular and people wanted an in they could not otherwise afford. The recasts existed after those original overpriced FW resin pieces got made and people started buying them.

>would not be as strong as it is
Meaning what? If someone plays a GW game without buying GW stuff then from GWs perspective they may as well not exist, they dont matter.

But also
>the game is (from GWs perspective) suffering because of 3rd parties and recasters, but also without them it wouldnt be as strong
Anon youre schizophrenic.

>But no one wants to shell out 250 bucks for a fucking fire raptor gunship, or 125 bucks for a fucking javalin speeder that costs i think less then 100 points in the game?
People do and did. Less people, but GW has no reason to care.
>>
>>98400231
>I have not played Old world in a hot minute are casters still broken as fuck?
No, magic is dogshit and a level 4 caster has around a 50% chance to get their spells off, dropping significantly with any sort of MR.

>>98400203
>with good rules and bad models
Wrong way round. As far as rules go TOW is pretty middling, in many ways a step down from 8th. But it brings back a lot of classic models so thats nice. You play warhammer for the aesthetics, not the rules.
>>
>>98400225
you're trying too hard anon
>>
>>98400231
>are casters still broken as fuck?
No, they "fixed" them by making levels kinda useless. so now while having a 4 level caster is not mandatory it makes things kinda...I dont know how to put it but magic overall is not a proactive thing currently. Each update to tow is always 1 step forward and 2 steps back from a game design perspective.

Fellas, do you feel guilty about just using raw unconverted legion models? I really love the sons of horus praetor, but something just feels wrong about using a character model straight out of the box, but swapping in bits feels like it would just break the unified aesthetics of the model...

nta but if you were wanting to do an explicitly 30k-era military police force that might be a good angle to approach it from rather than standard 40gay astartes
the world of necromunda has been in the human and imperial fold for a very, very long time

>>
>>98403087
The models are fine even if a bit on the bigger end, it's the fluff behind 40k arbites that's essentially a way to show how much of an inept dictatorship the imperium became, where you have judge dredd wannabes roaming around. The only forces that iirc have a similar role in 30k are the imperiial army, whose cohorts/regiments get pieces of them left behind for garrisoning and policing duties like at Isstvan 3 and the various secret agencies the administatum had around for stuff like destroying religious things like the elucidators. After writing this I remembered 3.0 actually expanded on that and made up a imperialis provost provenance for militia which does mention the army but does also expand on that and gives them the proto-arbite angle without making them enforce retarded draconian shit like killing the entirety of a surname on a planet because someone stole half a ration that's meant to go offworld to the guard.
>>
>>98403064
>>98403069
>>98403168
Yeah as anon mentioned, they pretty much explicitly supported using the new arbites models with a new militia provenance. Personally, I'd use them with some wargames Atlantic prisoner models and the alchemjackers provenance to represent the prisoners as levy of militia and grenadiers as arbiters.

it's a slightly easier to use, worse Herald in a unit of worse Destroyers; better than a Herald in some ways in that you can add more of them (to prevent lucky snipes taking out your VP factory) but it's hella expensive to do that as it's a minimum 215 points just to have 2 Procurators and everybody with basic equipment; for this you're giving up an Elites slot, ideally one with Prime, because they're going to need True Believers

in a big game, where points don't really matter? full send, full squad, go nuts, small game, no

but they only get Flesh Harvest points if they forced an enemy Unit to leave combat or massacred it, which is fairly unlikely unless you sic them on Aux or Militia, since there's next to nothing you can put in the unit to help them win combats easily, and no matter how many Procurators you have on the field, you only score once (and for the highest scoring squad)

Heralds at least have WS5 and Fear (1) to get them through

Anon... the sentence mentioning during the unification wars is about terminator armour. Not saturnine armour specifically. Reading comprehension is not your strongest point it seems.
Forges of Saturn also has more specific lore and timelines on the exact development of saturnine armour, so that takes precedent.

for what its worth, saturnine is both the oldest and the newest version of terminator armor. It originally existed around the unification wars, but IIRC it was really fucking hard to make so much so they basically gave up on it and it was lost to time.

Vulkan then found it, reworked it, fixed the problems with it, and made it work and orignally was going to use it at Istvaan but when the drop site happened he commanded the ship carrying them to GTFO because he did not want the traitors getting his finished version of them which was better then what others could have made.

Wasn't the new lore that Saturnine terminator armour was developed by Vulkan?
>>
>>98407071
The new lore is a hot fucking mess when it comes to saturnine
My understanding is thus.

It existed during the unification wars
It was a royal bitch to make so much so that they basically just took what they learned from it, and made terminator armor as we know it.
Vulkan dug up the old patterns and basically fixed them in regards to a standard model of them.
Vulkan also, according to guy, so take it what you will, created a special artificer version of Saturnine which had all the bells and whistles, namely it was the source of the shoulder mounted weaponry and apparently was jsut a salamander thing.

THen the rest of the legions raided the coffers for any sort of edge tehy could get and whala we got saturnine.

Either way the nuLore for it is kinda turbo ass because its all over the fucking place, not that there is anything wrong with saturnine, its just GW cant get their story straight.

the heresy isn't popular period, and ZM is a tiny part of it. It only exists as a buddy game you have no chance of playing it at an LGS they won't keep terrain in for it, and the game fucking sucks without playing in a maze.

>The better question is if 30k is popular in your area.
Decently so
>I'm sure if there is a 30k community in your area you can find people to play zm with.
Amazing thanks!

nah it's not all painted like this
most of them are pretty clean, i've only tried weathering recently
>>
>>98407634
Yeah also there was Centurion mode made by the aussies back in 1.0
>>

The terrain isn't that hard. A decent lgs will have enough terrain to make a functional layout. Plus with the smaller size it's a lot easier to play at home than a normal game.
>>
>>98407736
what's the ZM size btw?
>>
>>98407749
Generally 36"x48"
Half the size of a regular board. But if you want to make a more advanced scenario or have enough terrain, you can make it bigger if you really want to.

Saturnine foot is fully posable and the marines arent

Meanwhile, the legs are locked in their pose by pegs in the joints.
>>
disregarding removing whatever iconography should i be good enough to go stealing the bolt pistols and chain paddles from some old black reach era boyz i have wrt visual cohesion?
>>
>>98407790
Oh no I have to spend half a second cutting a peg off
>>
>>98407749
It was 48x48" in the free pdf GW released early in edition, but it's 36x48" in the journal. Personally, I like 48x48" a bit more.

I'm glad the point has not been missed by you.

Fists

Just a veteran cadre squad with bolt pistols and lightning claws. Then maybe a chosen squad
>>
>>98407864
Not that you could make it on your own
>>
If any of you anons know of any store that still has old cataphractii boxes in stock then please tell me, I've been scouring Europe for them
>>
I'd like a plastic Mhara Gal Dreadnought.
>>
>>98406547
You keep putting yourself down.
It's not a competition, I haven't assembled let alone painted a miniature in almost a decade.
>>
should I use a saboteur in ZM?

the choice is between him or a castaferrum dreadnought really, via a logistical benefit
>>
>>98408116
Its funny. Do it.
>>
>>98408116
boxnoughts are pretty cash
i'd go for one unless you're very enthused about the narrative entailments of a saboteur being involved or whatnot
>>
>>98407964
wish granted, it's pronounced M'harag-al and it comes with optional Alpha Legion iconograpy and a fedora
>>
>>98407071
No, Vulkan only refined the design and made it less of a pain in the ass to repair and maintain.

>>98407113
>It was a royal bitch to make so much so that they basically just took what they learned from it, and made terminator armor as we know it.
That's not what the current lore says. Saturnine was developed either alongside or slightly after the other patterns of terminator armour. The main difference is that Cataphractii and Tartaros were developed by the Mechanicum, whilst Saturnine armour was made by the tech-enclaces of Phoebe.

Also Vulkan magnanimously send stocks of saturnine to all legions after finishing the improvements, right before Horus' openly rebelled against the Emperor.
>>
>>98408116
Definitely, saboteurs are a lotta fun. Peak AL shenanigans.
>>
>>98407965
nta but I appreciate your honesty

3d print?

if you cannot find them consider recasts

>>98407852
ok cheers anon
>>
is it true, does the nu-mkIV come with a bolt pistol for the sarge?
>>
>>98408304
The store page seems to suggest so. But then again GW's store page for scatter dice still says it has one hit symbol, despite scatter dice actually having two. They still haven't corrected this for over one and a half edition lmfao
>>
>>98408304
no it does not
>>
>>98408304
yeah there's enough bps for all the mk4 assault marines
