Eldar female x humanjeet male is the lowest form of blackedlsop.
An Eldar woman would never touch a filthy monkey she would rather have an entire Tyranid Hive Fleet run a train on her and pump her full of gaunts.

The humble Warboss in mega armor (pictured on the right). I think this model encapsulates nearly everything Orks stand for.
>Big Ork gets the best armor
>Grot sidekick (totally not a slave) mans the huge gun that he absolutely couldn't aim properly due to the magazine on the top of it
>Doesn't man the gun himself because he wields a giant buzzsaw axe with both of his hands, showing that while Orks do like to shoot they usually care more about melee.
>The armor itself is blocky and unwieldy, random panels in weird spots and an entire generator on his back for some reason
The only thing missing that I can think of is a squig.

I have a feeling it is more like GW is allergic to taking risks on releasing something that is potentially cool and instead plays it safe.

They're the number one wargame miniature making company in the world if I recall correctly, and they're paranoid of losing that spot.
Oddly enough I'm thinking of Vallejo right now and it's reformulation that lead to a lot of reports of excess bubbling. Is Vallejo still the number one hobby brand after that incident? Did they quietly fix their paints?

I wonder if the reason beast men got sent to old world was because of the rape connotations too. Or just their range was old and they didn't want to update it.

Skaven are more PG-13 in the sense that they are silly little guys who act like cartoon villains and all the actually terrifying stuff they do can be done in books and alt media for adults without contaminating its marketability for kids.

Who knows if GW is moving past this though considering they walked back from Ynnari and have mad a lot more slannesh content since then. Obviously without any nudity though afaik

There was a website that discussed the development of fantasy, I don't remember its name but the creator for the fimir was all about GW wanting their own fantasy race (for ip races) and the fimir were using a lot of fae and fairy lore and stories. That could work.
I seem to have an issue of overthinking for solutions.
Sometimes I wonder if the wires should be "armored" like some belts for big heavy machine guns instead of just rubber wiring. Maybe that would make the gun a bit too heavy, but then again I think there are guard models where the guy is holding heavy weapons like an autocannon or heavy bolter.

>uncdivers 2
blud really thinks its still 2025 :skull: :skull:
>>
>>98427377
You could try and bundle a pair of wires together to make it look like a proper assembly, or it could be a little more slap-dash with a pair of wires independently dangling from the model. You could sculpt some of those more metallic looking wires with the divets but that's way more work.

>>
>>98427363
I can't imagine any major klans actually getting that sort of love or really getting anything outside of cosmetic upgrades (even that's a dim hope), but I could see them bringing the GRC to expand orks with back as per their current trend of digging up niche nostalgia for new models.

Something something Ghaz getting stalled on Armageddon AGAIN and Makhari worship amongst grots has led to Revolutionary Committees cropping up across the galaxy, justifying why they're a full-blown army. Give them access to kans as well as some basic boyz and nobs that are enslaved orks until they have enough units to be a full blown army.
>>
>>98427363
Proper Inquisition.
Traitor Guard. Even something basic like the old LatD
Dogs of War, for all the random non chaos, non imperial and xenos stuff. So you could plug them in your army. Like Mercenary orks

I'm thinking of making a homebrew ogryn unit with heavy stubber.
Should the weapon stats be the same as the guard chimera's multilaser turret's stats? Just to keep things simple.
I think the ogryn's toughness should be the same as a regular ogryn's toughness and hits.

I'm a bit surprised GW hasn't added ogryns with rapid fire heavy weapons as they don't look out of place in Darktide. Maybe they're being saved for when ogryns get updated?
I'm also surprised no STL maker has made ogryns holding heavy bolters or autocannons or lascannons. I think such conversions have been done before as gun luggers.
>>
>>98427377
I figure that since Lasguns are supposed to be so reliable the parts are made with ease of repair/replacement in mind. If you wanted a more protected look, the Space Marine Lascannons in the Devastator Squad has the corrugated tubing that generally is the look of a protective layer over wires inside it.

That can be done pretty easily
>zoats, dominators, enslavers, ambulls, psycheneuein, protonids, etc
>fluff is that zoats were once slaves to the tyranids, before they ditched them in favour of genestealers, and in turn the zoats psychically dominated beasts or people to act as their agents
>now the zoats are split in two groups: the ones that never got out of the tyranids' control, who still scout ahead a hive fleet and try to mindfuck with people, or cooperate with the genecults, or do frontline assaults together with the tyranid themselves, and the ones that are completely free of tyranid control and have their own agendas which might make them still end up mindfucking with people, but also cooperate or sell their services to various factions of the galaxy
you can end up with a pretty diverse range with but a few kits, especially if you make use of the mind control excuse to make this army field enslaved guardsmen, orks, or marines, or allow the army to be taken as allies by others

I own sob, guard, marines, eldar, and nids.

My favorite of the bunch is definitely sisters, best painted and most played. A spinoff codex could be a repentia codex. But I don't think it's justified, repentia being a category of unit in the main codex is fine. There could also be some kind of generalized Ministorum codex that includes crusaders, repressors, fraternis militia, planetary defense forces, and stuff like that, which would funny enough probably loop back around to being similar to the old Witch Hunters codex we used back in the day.

Nids already have a spinoff codex and don't need two (looking at you space marines), but I suppose there is that storyline of that queen who is separate from the hive mind, so you could do like a malstrain codex. But I don't think that needs a whole codex, those can be a subcategory in the main nid book.

Guard could easily have a traitor guard codex. There would be CSM units mixed in, and deamons as well. A cult ritual mechanic where you can have a unit pray instead of acting to summon something at end of turn would be cool. It would loop around to being similar to the lost and the damned ideas. Much of this has already been done in some shape.

Eldar already have craftworld and drukhari, so if they wanted another spinoff codex it would perhaps be exodites, corsairs, or ynnari. Corsairs only have several units, there are only a couple truly exclusive ynnari units, and exodites also only have a couple truly unique units. So none of these quite justify a whole spinoff codex. Being some weird soup thing that picks and chooses from a few groups is what it is. Harlequins had their own supplement at one point but they also just sort of get rolled into the craftworld+drukhari soup. Which is fine I guess, the lore is that they show up wherever they want.

Pro- tip for regiments: figure out your archetype and spruce up your dudes by taking inspiration from adjacent things. There are some exceptions like the Praetorian Guard which are based on a single movie (even a specific scene really), but otherwise regiments are based on an archetype.
Another pro-tip is push your idea around to see what you don't like, that's gonna help you move them towards a fun cohesive direction.

Examples from a long list of regiments I will never have the time to do or space to collect:
>Black Wolves of Wald
Started as WW2 germans, didn't want to stick to that, liked camo patterns and forest ambushes, so added inspiration from nordic countries and Kuban Cossack
>Proud Clairons of Elanoria
Based on WW1/2 French & Belgian armies, wanted to go for a "nice little town" identity; they are nicely dressed even if under equipped, big on food and ratling auxilia, but utterly unprepared for the horrors of the galaxy
>Rossean Lightnings
Started with modern armies, and narrowed it to early 2000s war on terror, with mostly British, French and Russian inspiration. I nickname them the "PTSD Regiment", but unlike screaming cadians they are the disfigured and silent type, their scarring contrasts with the clean uniform (inspired by the JGSDF). They are also known for their "Roto-crafts" (helicopters, because I have a raging hard-on for Mil mi-28s)

TL;DR: Dick around, it pays off. Godspeed

Not to mention, what does this mean then for Plague Marines, Custodes, Tyranid Warriors/Raveners, and all these other units that have an identity which is "tougher (and stronger, except for the PMs) than space marines"??? What happens to weapons like Boltguns, Heavy Bolters, etc? Are Tacticus Marines and Boltguns staying S4 so that they have slapfights against other Marines where everyone sucks at hurting each other?

This would genuinely fuck up the ENTIRE GAME and all unit balance far worse than any other stat change has ever done in 40k history over nearly 40 years. The 2 wounds change was nothing compared to this.

It's just subliminal propaganda to make you shy away from pattern recognition because that's RACIST and ANTISEMITIC. All intelligent persons know you can and absolutely should partly judge a book by its cover.

But all that said, that's not even the main factor as to why I won't buy that book. I won't buy it because I won't reward GWs lazy shitty behavior in hiring such a cheap and garbage tier artist. I expect better quality.

According to them you can without really engaging in combat. Just standing around in some objectives and doing actions.
I thought actions was like some old mission like bunker assault where you needed to physically enter a bunker to capture it. But it seems actions are just saying you do something and you get it.
>>
>>98428529

Not jealous. It was part of Aun'Va's plan to end the war quickly. The augmented commanders beat back the Imperils top their last landing site. If they lost that ground, it would have been over for the crusade.

>Objective markers (circles)
Nta but none of the terrain set ups use circles. Circles are just a way of sort of clunkily importing old terrain set ups into 11th. 11th uses full structure foot prints to designate an objective. Like, you actually want to garrison a building instead of just standing in the open on the "point" like a dipshit in overwatch or something.
>>

Can we even blame them when 10th/11th sucks so fucking bad?
>>
>>98428714
It is an issue though as that anon pointed out >>98428607
Even after multiple updates GW has not made the correction regarding objectives and objective markers that they obviously mean the same thing
But till then rules like this:
>Each time a model in this unit makes an attack, re-roll a Wound roll of 1. If the target of that attack is an enemy unit within range of an objective marker, you can re-roll the Wound roll.
Do not work since objective markers are a different thing than objectives.

i dont know how to tell you this but they are the same thing and GW is just a tiny indy company who hasnt updated their rules yet because "11th edition" is basically an alpha test. what they did was release it, then you yell about every specific thing like this and they can just fix what they are told. basically a way of doing absolutely nothing and winning.

Yeah there has never been a perfect edition of 40k. But at least in the past it was pretty common to use houserules, the modern editions cater to tournament culture so people avoid that shit like vampires avoiding garlic which makes the newer editions even more insufferable.

>I started playing in 4th. Played through to 6th. Then picked back up in tenth. The game feels better as a game then it ever has.
I started playing in 1998 at the tail end of 2nd. Technically 3rd edition was out but the group I started with was still carrying on with 2nd for a couple years before switching over. Played through 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, quit because 6th sucked, came back towards the end of 7th, played Horus Heresy 1.0, 8th, and 9th. Went back during the 8th edition era and even tried some Rogue Trader with friends. So when 10th came out I had legitimately played every single version of the game ever except Horus Heresy 2.0 (still haven't played 3.0 either). And then I played 10th.

And I can say with total certainty, having played all of them, that 10th is the worst edition of the game to ever exist. Absolutely worthless. It's a complete farce. Almost zero customization or wargear, all of the missions suck ass and are the annoying "stand on magic king of the hill objective circles", almost no support for supplemental material like Imperial Armour or Campaign books, Psychic powers reduced to practically nothing, game boards smaller than ever, FoC completely removed, plus carried over almost all the flaws of 8th and 9th and still hasn't fixed issues like Superheavy skew lists, and has the most irritating rules syntax to read ever devised. You are a fucking worthless retard if you defend this shit.

In kill team, can someone detail to me how weapon targeting works? I get so confused in games like this when it comes to being able to look and see what is targetable and what isn't. From what I gather, a target IN COVER and on CONCEALED cannot be targeted ever. However, what if my model was behind them and they are still concealed? Green would be a friendly model and red would be a enemy model hiding on cover while concealed. In this case, I could shoot them even though they are next to "cover" right? I also get confused how to aim when shooting sort of. My friend actually made fun of kill team because it is apparently a game full of "Pixel humpers" because people will do funky stuff when model targeting I guess. I am new so I don't know exactly.

Not asking anyone to agree with me, but no idea why you would think I am making up enjoying gameplay in 10/11th. The way terrain works, attaching units, wounding, AP, movement. Are all superior, all streamlined. Every unit having an ability. Simply not having to wait years for simple balance changes is honestly so much better the edition could be considerably worse and it would still be better to play than earlier ones.
40k has never been a good game, and if you think otherwise you havent tried shit for games. This is simply the best iteration of its rules for actually playing.
Also making your own missions, and boards, has always been part of 40k and still is. If you can create interesting scenarios for you and your friends well sucks to have zero imagination.

Gray armor with brown/"butternut" fatigues, all officers use a gentlemanly pistol and a (chain)sword (power sword if available), using a slew of different weapon/heads to give off that "lack of standardized equipment" feel the CSA had
I went with meltas because the idea of space redneck welders getting drafted off of a jobsite and just taking their welding gear with them to cut into tanks made sense and was funny.

Why do Xenos players have to deal with such shitty model assembly? Space marines(and possibly chaos space marines) have such easy and straight forward assembly. Necrons, Tyranids and possibly Tau gundams have some of the worst assembly I have ever seen. Its fucking ASS. Why is it that they can design space marines so well for assembly? Ontop of that, I am pretty sure GW is charging the same amount of money for Space Marine Tacticals etc as like Necron Immortals but the Necrons have something like 25 percent less plastic because their models are smaller.

I haven't gotten the old models from storage (my brother took all the 40k stuff to sit in his basement) but I am pretty sure I have the following:
Chaos rhino
CSM squad
Khorne berserkers squad
Defiler
I had originally planned to not be any chapter, just chaos marines. Can I actually do that? What legion could I go with to use at least some of those models? Any other advice for jumping back in?
>>
>>98429710
>but if they're gonna bring everyone back
They aren't. They never were.

There were exactly four (4) Chaos Daemon Primarchs that had models and rules in old Epic 40k going back to the first edition and all of them have now been made into 40k models.

There were exactly two (2) Loyalist Primarchs who were said to still be alive but comatose/in stasis going back to 2nd edition and both of them have now been made into 40k models.

It was set up almost 30 fucking years ago and now it's done. That was it. GW never at any point planned to bring back anyone but those ones. The rest of the loyalists are dead. Legitimately fucking dead. As for the traitors, there's Perty and Lorgar, who MIGHT get models eventually, but GW hates anything Chaos Undivided now unless it's Abaddon so don't bet on it.

Named characters in general don't always sell particularly well because you can't run more than 1 of them in an army AND they're locked to a particular subfaction, whereas generic big monster centerpieces like the new Defiler you can sell 3 to every single Chaos player regardless of Legion.
>>
do you think removing the shins and giving them the old cotton hill would make them feel like they fit a bit more with the aesthetic of the army?

the default look is so weirdly lanky, they dont feel like a dwarf unit

>>98429854
I dont eve care bro gimme Curze
>>
>>98429854
the primarchs sold super well, no idea where you're getting otherwise. The concept art for guilliman pitched him as the only loyalist to return, if he had sold like shit they wouldn't have done the lion

Primarches sell armies. Centrepiece models always sell armies.

Why the fuck do you think everything is on a big ass base nowadays? How fucking dumb are you?

NTA but heres how the argument goes

>well they do sell, but they're bad for the game
>why
>Because it wasn't what an edition I never played was like

Genestealer Cults' Cult Icons are nerfed, they no longer trigger at the start of the command phase like they did in 10th to get your unit above the battle-shock check threshold.

Conversely, I'm looking at old necrons and warriors are literally a buck a pop, everything is so cheap. How are these guys so much cheaper than marines? The old sternguard and vanguard veterans were good kits I'm surprised more people don't have some sitting around.

im really getting more and more disilusioned with the army as the editions go on.

my bombs now hitting AND wounding vehicles on 5s has just been a gutpunch i havent fully recovered from, and the forced mixed weapons on neophytes made the army significantly more of a pain in the ass to roll dice for. im like 1 more bad patch away from selling the army and switching factions

Maybe I don't know, just wanted to point out so the anon pays more attention when applying it. My Vallejo GC Bonewhite & Stonewall Gray colors are prone to bubbling so you need to pop them before they dry. I use Vallejo paints mostly with no issues, except for the washes they've also gone to shit. Pigments and medium are separated in the bottle and no matter how hard I shake, add more medium etc. it just doesn't work proper. A store here has stocked some GSW paints, I'll give it washes a try.

The army is fine I think. I like using those small tricks, like reviving models on an objective at the start of your command phase to assume control at the end and score points. We don't know what the codex will bring so I'd keep them around.
>>
>>98429991
idk about anon but the AP fanatic paints are kinda thick, if you arent thinning them enough it could do that, but personally it looks to me like it might be a bit of overspray from a primercoat, which i think is reinforced by the somewhat grainy texture as well. he mentioned doing a zenithal, if i had to put money i'd wager it was the zenithal highlight that did it. you can see the same speckled texture on the base rim too which is usually machine smooth.

that said, its not enough to ruin the model, you can barely see it unless you are zooming way in on a huge resolution photo of a very small model, i definitely wouldnt call it severe or enough to think about stripping the model or anything, its pretty minimal and just looking at the photo as a whole the model hasnt lost any significant detail.

In the 10th edition Armageddon campaign book that came out towards the end the steel legion takes absurd casualties from chaos corruption. Khorne panic! took over most humans on several major battlefields as part of the gray knights storyline. Armegeddon is not depopulated though, so in theory they can still raise more later.

>muh daemon primarchs
>have been consistently shown to be weaker than regular primarchs

Do it more and more until you start to get models you don't hate seeing, eventually it'll click and you'll be proud of what you have before you. The only way to get better is to do it a lot. My first few squads of guard looked horrendous because I didn't thin paints properly and I used too big of brushes, you just have to keep trying.
Learn how to thin your specific paints, each one is a bit different. Learn how to handle humidity with painting (dry or humid/wet). Learn how to use the brushes you have (or the peculiarities of your airbrush if you have one), and get smaller "hobby" brushes if you don't already have some.
If you don't want to buy more models to keep learning, you can strip a painted model by sitting it in isopropyl alcohol (I use 91%) for 20-30 minutes in a sealed container and then scrubbing the acrylic paint off, the alcohol weakens the acryl in the paint but doesn't affect the polystyrene model beneath it.
Alcohol doesn't work for resin models though, it melts the resin.

What's the best way to stick magnets to the bottoms of bases? I've been using plastic cement and they just keep falling off, would JB weld work better?

Plastic cement only works on actual plastic, anon. Either use a CA glue or something like greenstuff or milliput

This is a chemical solvent, not an adhesive; it bonds two plastic pieces together (but not all plastics react to it). It won't work on magnets.

White "school" glue (PVA glue), superglue (CA glue) or modeling putty would work and be cheaper than JB weld. You should probably have some white glue and superglue around for this hobby anyway.
>>
>>98430320
you should look up what plastic cement actually does, then get some super glue
