Flying sea creatures are dumb, if GW didn't suck and have a LoLized idea of how games work now then they'd have rules and models for naval combat and crossings. I dream of the "small islands intercessed by legs of sea" map. Instead it is just L shaped ruins.

It's funny that even when chaos dwarfs have a model line, you can't buy them
Then GW will squat them again, citing that no one was buying them

40k, eresy and fantasy also suck for these reasons
Dragons fly
Jets and monsters do too
Flying is seen as stupid and flyers are hated because every single board is either flat with a hill somewhere or L-shaped ruins in a city
People don't want some funky map where air superiority gives control over a narrow bridge into the enemy fortress or bombarding enemies on the walls

Which is the actual tactical reason you would want flyers. Ironically this is also what I use flyers for in TWW

The first realmgate wars book opens with Aqshy, where the only surviving peoples in a hellish wasteland are cannibals of Khorne and the people they endlessly chase down like it's Mad Max.
The seasons of war campaign wasn't about whether or not new cities would be built it was the first and only cities of the game - AoS was a complete wasteland.
It's muted now but basically everywhere was fucked and everyone fell to chaos. Azyr really was a Noah's Ark situation until the Stormcast

Here's my schizo idea:
>every mongod army gets their basic warped gor variety
already done for nurgle, tzeentch and slaanesh, just need khornegors
>every monogod army gets a special elite gor unit
Only tzeentch currently have these, in the form of enlightened/skyfires. For slaanesh I would do marked centigors, for khorne I would do marked minotaurs. No idea what nurgle would get.
>every monogod army gets a hero gor
nurgle and tzeentch have their shamans already, slaanesh and khorne can get chiefs
>final miniature in slaves to darkness
Either ghorraghan khai or morghur himself (preferably one that doesn't look like shit this time)
Is technically part of slaves to darkness has a special AoR like belakor which allows you to run all the beastmen from monogod armies, as well as select extra units like chaos spawn, the sphiranx, raptoryx/furies, slaughterbrute and vortex beast.
>>

the age of sigmar (TM) names I used to consider 'retarded and gay' attempts at copyrighting everything now seem 'iconic and emblematic' of the setting. Truly time makes all things legitimate.
>>
>>98432712
the 'special' types of beastmen are centaurs, minotaurs, harpies, and satyrs (ungors), with harpies ideally going to tzeentch and satyrs to nurgle
but tzaangors ruin everything by having more tzaangors as their special unit, as well as being the only basic gors with a non-goat head, in a better world pestigors would have bug heads, slaangors would have snake heads and khornogors would have hound heads
and for the god-aligned goat headed gors you would use normal gors with a different paintjob

but gw had to go and fuck everything instead of planning things out ahead of time

If they are timings things well this episode would come out after the launch of 5th edition, probably following the launch cinematic like sigmar toll did for the 4th ed one, and so feature stormcasts against chaos warriors instead of stormcasts and skaven.
If they play their cards right it will be the ideal hook to introduce people to the relaunched setting with the last world thing.

If they're utter fucking morons it will instead do something retarded like following neave blacktalon after the events of the other animated series, while also retconning what happened in that one, while also leaving open plot hooks and cliffhangers that will never be picked up upon, while also trying to introduce the mortal realms again while gw has moved on into another cataclysmic timeskip.

Sons are rumored to be getting a pretty hefty update this edition. New Mancrushers kit and a new Matriarch that apparently comes with some sort of monsters or beasts to round out the roster further.

>>
>>98433382

>>
>>98433382
Seraphon honestly feel fine with just like 2 more refreshed units. Nighthaunt are in dire fucking need of a complete touch up rules wise and desperately need some new units or differentiation in units. (I'll keep saying it until GW listens, why the fuck do we have 3 god damn units of "semi elite infantry" that all have borderline the same profile)

Chaos feels fine, Helsmiths could use a bit more and Khorne feels fine though some of their launch units could stand for some touch ups.

Destro, fix gitz.

Discounting slayers and dok, who will get their expansions/soup soon enough, yeah definitely idk. Wouldn't even have to be a huge wave like cities or ogres, even something more like OBR would be very appreciated. Seraphon are fine, could just use a refresh for some of the really old stuff like skinks, saurus guard, maybe the stegadon. But aside from the guard even these minis have held up pretty well.
>death
Nighthaunt have a big range but it's pretty samey. Again, a small obr-style wave that focused on adding some silhouette variety would be nice. Y'know the classic suggestions; haunted armour, ghosts melded together, maybe a semi-centrepiece monster, .... CARRION
FEC could probably use it more. Their previous wave was very nice, a second one would be appreciated. Doesn't have to be a lot; refreshed basic ghouls, refreshed horrors / whatever the fliers are called, maybe some elite "bone templar" infantry, zome other cavalry options.
>chaos
Darkoath, if those count.
Khorne and tzeentch are the only real choices. Both have big ranges, but they're getting up there in age and looks. Khorne's first edition stuff is just in an entirelt different style compared to newer releases like say nurgle. For tzeentch it's mostly daemons, though some chaos warrior equivalents for them would be nice.

I like writing my dudes in a lore friendly fashion, but for AoS, GW doesn’t really like writing about how factions work and exist besides “they fight and prepare to fight”. There’s only so much lifting Black Library can do in the void left by GW’s nebulous, uncommitted worldbuilding. I’d love to write for my factions but GW provides only the most barebones example of a societal structure for many factions. Since the lore of specifics is so nebulous, often vague, and subject to the consequences of the sales teams handling of the model ranges, consistent facts are rare or intentionally left unexplored. Then there’s the big ol’ hangman’s axe of The Last World having the potential of coming to fruition in any fashion. It’s hard to even place your dudes because there’s a nonzero chance it’ll exist next year.

You’re right. I was rambling and had no one to stop me. That text wall boils down to “lore is too vague, giving the impression that GW doesn’t care, so it’s much harder to care about the lore yourself”.
LRL and IDK.
>>98434943
The development of Starborne and Coalesced was a good move imo. Even if we lost “order daemons” to get it. I’m sure “order daemons” could get a mention in how other factions see Starborne when Slann just summon them out of nowhere.

I've chilled out by this point, but the changes over edition to CoS, my favorite faction, still bring my blood to a boil. And it's not that I don't like the new models, they are nice, but why did we have to lose elf and dwarf variety in the model range? The fucking cowards at GW couldn't even bother placing a dwarf on a cogfort despite mentioning him being in one. Just man getting angry and rambly as I type myself over losing my racially diverse units who would be so easy to add to existing stuff, yet instead we have to be some shittier imperial guard with new lore just retconning everything that I loved about them for last two editions.
>>
>>98434962
>Even if we lost “order daemons” to get it
it was always a bad fit anyway
>>
>>98434920
I think personally most factions are written perfectly well enough on their own; there's a clear 'hook', they've got history and culture, usually a fair amount of internal tension, that sort of stuff.
But my main complaint with AoS' lore is that it doesn't feel very cohesive. There's, I don't know, a certain lack of connection BETWEEN factions and armies by and large. This is no doubt influenced by aos' lesser attention to geography in general (perhaps tlw will rectify this?). I mean it's not that interaction or rivalries are totally unexplored, but it's usually not very deep and can feel a bit arbitrary at times.
I think 40k also suffer from this to an extent, especially the xenos factions. Fantasy also had a few armies that were just kind of there (lizards, ogres, TK to an extent) while the core of the Old World (basically the empire and surroundings) was a lot better about it.
>>
>>98434920
Yeah, AoS is more broad concepts than anything specific and what you do get feels forced.
You get this broad pitch of Fyreslayers as a culture and then
>Yeah, this lodge likes Magmadroths more than usual
>This lodge is more mercenary than usual!
Okay?
It just reads like a D&D race summary to prompt player choices more than anything suggesting a setting.
>>
>>98435112
In terms of military lore, LRL are quite solid, and there’s some descriptions of what the nations/temples are like, but there’s not much about how they’re ran. Lords Regent are all strictly military titles and hold no governing power in the nations. I want to know how a LRL force is established or what drives their and what they’re fighting for besides survival. If I remember correctly, the army in Children of Teclis is a mercenary band. If not, I do remember reading about a Lumineth mercenary band. I’d love to know what drives an elf like that to become a mercenary rather than stick to the surety their nations established army would give them or how one would go about creating their own force that isn’t seen as a potential threat by the Natiosn(this is where most <dudes> LRL would reasonably fall).
Yeah, CoS losing the cosmopolitan representation on the table and becoming fantasy IG really sucks. They did gain ogors and gargants, but they may as well
be different sized humans. The cogfort thing really pisses me off, too. What the fuck do you mean a dwarf engineer is gonna let nothing but humans maintain his precious engine without any dwarven supervision? Cowardly move by GW to not lean into the CoS aesthetic but sculpt units with mixed species models.
>>
>>98435134
AoS does very much feel like fantasy 40k to me so your comparison about things feeling arbitrarily connected is apt. Maybe I’d feel different if I was a CoS player where the cities themselves are fixed and can generate history as opposed to what I actually play (IJ)

>ripped those shits open and let them rip
>employee comes over to assess the damage
>dad finally puts his foot down, kid is crying, he offers to pay for the dice
>a very loud "What the FUCK?" when he is then told how much the novelty oversized ogre dice actually cost
>picks up the kid, grabs his wife, books it out without paying for anything
>employee hands opened ogre dice to clueless part time worker teenager
>I browse a bit, the drama is over
>I see clueless teenager reemerge from the back room with the taped up ogre dice
>scope it out
>the box is barely damaged and the blessed teenager marked them down to $4.99 because they were "damaged"
>I do not try to suppress my shiteating grin as the knowledgeable employee at the register is malding at his lost income
And that's how I got a set of GW novelty dice for five dollars. I found an ogre kingdoms batallion box (16 ogres) at the same store years ago on Black Friday, got it for less than $100 because it was unmarked and they had to make up a price on the spot when the place was a madhouse. The universe REALLY wants me to play ogres.

>LORD OF HYSTERIA

>The Lords of Hysteria are content only when they are spurring on an especially grand and wild revel. In more innocent eras, they may have been stirring preachers, ringmasters, rabble rousers and high-society chiefs of ceremony. Their desire to place themselves at the crest of rising waves of emotion had less to do with ideology and more to do with hunger for influence. Paramountcy is their vice: it must be their voice that stirs the masses, their designs and merry, maddened fancies that others slip into. They derive pleasures from having control over degradation of not only themselves but others, and this was the hook by which Slaanesh claimed them.
>>
>>98437998
>Leading Sybarites into battle demands skill at arms and an infernal charisma. Some champions gain these through harsh experience, but many Lords of Hysteria do not hail from warrior backgrounds, and even those who do crave higher highs. So they make a pact. They bind themselves in perpetuity to a daemon of the Lord of Delights: Heralds and Daemons Princes who channel their will through such a captivating champion. The ceremonies that invite these possessions are long, theatrical and grotesque – perfect for the Lord of Hysteria to display their talent to a would-be sponsor. Whatever hideous banquets and recreations are hosted, the end result is always the Lord donning an enclosing helm of daemonic aspect, signifying their direct devotion to Slaanesh's children in return for gleeful amusements. Yet no mortal soul can stand such divine contact forever, and in time, the Lords of Hysteria will be consumed by the power they inherit. But, until then, joy and madness alike is theirs to indulge in freely.

>The Lords of Hysteria are the vanguard – the herald-champinos – of the Sybarite host. It is they who approach the walls of a city, joyously proclaiming that a time of freedom and rapture is nigh. Their handsome voices are pernicious and serpentine, the gifts of the possessing daemons inspiring delirium even in stern hearts. They are inevitably surrounded by frenzied sinners who relish demonstrating all their cruel and astounding passions. If battle does prove necessary, then these same sinners throng about the Lord of Hysteria, driven to new heights of frenetic and murderous energy by the will and example of their divinely empowered champion. Wherever the Lords of Hysteria go, rapturous mania spreads, and the wild rhythm of battle seems to revolve around them – or at least, such is how these prideful showmen perceive it, and none dare tell them otherwise.
>>
>>98438000
>HYSTERICAL STIMULANTS

>The weapons of the Lords of Hysteria are not only killing tools, though lethality is certainly amongst their traits. They are cursed things imbued with glamours and sorceries to help the champion trigger divine, bacchic frenzies. Mirrored blades are polished with corrupted crystal fragments; they are tossed and twirled like some conductor's baton, severing flesh while offering maddening glimpses of depraved possibility that hypnotise and enrapture the senses. Censers swinging on softly clinking chains, meanwhile, billow incense that induces an absolute liberating bliss into the mind – even as it eats away at bones, reducing enemies to slurries of meat with still-smiling faces.

Do we know what stage in the model production process GW does their rumor engine pictures at?
Are they based off of the original 3D models? The 3:1 printed masters? The first batch of molded test models? The 'Eavy Metal painted box art display models?
>>
>>98441934
Usually it's the 3d printed, boxart model. Sometimes you can see the print lines on box art models
>>
I’m honestly surprised they didn’t put eyes of the 9 in the spearhead for tzeentch. Oh well. I hope we get another round of spearheads like for sand and bone.

Originally Hrothgorn had Icebrow keywords but the whole deepstriking and frost sabre friends are a more general BCR thing and Mantrappers just have boring tokens instead of a frostsabre now
>>
>>98442236
it didnt officially replace the icebrow hunter, just most people used it as one since it was a more modern plastic and the icebrow was an old kind of hard to find resin kit recast off an even older metal kit

The presumption that a mould commission completion means an inevitable release is misguided
GW's main bottleneck is their factories and warehouses. Commemorative models being ubiquitous nowadays just furthers the point. At what point does a mould return the investment from R&D to manufacturing? It's within minutes, so it isn't like GW are losing anything by throwing this in the trash to prioritise stuff that will sell better and more importantly given their warehouse scheduling - faster.
I could see a leak box and sprue for this from a drone cam in warhammer world's trash and reasonably think "it may never come out"
TLDR you're on copium

the current slaangor are elite units so it'd be more sensible to rename them and release a 32mm base infantry

i like marked minotaurs for khorne, centaurs can go there too

nurgle can put pestigors on bugs or have some sort of war machine maybe
>>
>>98443064
I find current slaangor very weird. For the longest time I thought they were essentially minotaurs, or at least minotaur sized, because they of their price (both in points and $) and their unit size.
But no, they're just ...regular gors? they're barely taller than tzaangors and the new pestigors? Despite costing more than either while having a third of the models?
>nurgle can put pestigors on bugs or have some sort of war machine maybe
Pestigor chariot sounds kind of fun

Not that I'm aware. Maybe someone with a youtube/twitch channel caught up with them and got them talking about it, but I haven't heard anything. Retroctively inserted implies past events got changed to add something that wasn't there.
Thalia showing up and convincing CoS to change their fighting style was new developement not something retroactive. It wasn't always like this, you saw it happen in real time.

Tahlia is written such that she retroactively influenced the cities from their inception not only as a response to the ghur quake or whatever dominated 3rd edition
Retroactive as in she was introduced in 3rd but is written to have existed prior

currently looking, using 3rd party minis, to make a slaanesh force using all available units. making a 1-1 convert list Heroes infinite range lust demons 2 months of files and was using new recruit for units names.
A) do slaanesh hedonites not have sjust normal on foot demon heralds anymore?
B) for the scourge of aqshy variants should i get an extra model to show variety or can i use the same model for both versions?
Havnt properly played aos since 2nd ed...
>>
>>98445029

A: They're legends, at best. The Masque is still around, but Viceweaver or whatever and the like are going out like the Flayer chariots.

B: It's the exact same model(s), just a different Warscroll. Only rule is you can't use the normal version and the Scourge variant in the same list, I believe.
>>
>>98445029
A: No, you get the masque or a unit that both doesn't exist and I don't think has any official models (though you're using whatever so it's fine)
B: You can use the same it realistically doesn't matter, since you're only allowed either SOA or regular differences don't really matter since you can only have the one unit active.
>>
>>98444929
She doesn't change the cities past. Hammerhal abandoning Stormcast colours in favour of Aqshy nationalism is a developemnt in the whole Reclaimed conflict, not a retcon.

Not really no. There's the infernal rapturess, that's technically a herald, albeit a pretty specific one. Other than that it's just the masque (and the thricefold discord I guess).

Chariot's aren't GONE but they're in a weird limbo of being a shitty old weird model for Chaos Daemons which are already in this weird flux point. It's one of those models where it's not gone yet, but if GW were to legends it next edition I don't think anyone would particularly be shocked.
>>
>>98445104
The writing has been on the wall since 4th ed dropped, and the Battletome officially pushed them to Legends.

Legends:
>Bladebringer
>Hellstriders
>Hellflayer
>Seeker Chariot

You can use them in tournaments for about a year, but casually it's just "hey man, can I use this Legends unit?"

>>98445116

They're literally Battletome Supplement'd already and will go to Legends June 1, 2027.

Yeah chariots and hellstriders (old mortal cav) got sent to Legends in the last battletome. They're still fully legal in tournaments and whatnot until next summer, and of course you can always just use legends rules if your lgs is chill with that. But yeah they're definitely legends

damn it pic related would have been such a joy to print n paint.
next book slaanesh will really need some new stuff to replace all those models cos in 1st and 2nd ed i remember those being near obligatory for slaanesh players as they barely had anything else.
>>
>>98445163
Slaanesh has Slickblades to replace them. Honestly, the army is in a fine spot and doesn't lack for much. Maybe a Monster unit, but even then.

>>98445163
I feel like there's a perpetual question in the air of when or if GW will replace the old daemon shit. I remember hoping GW would do one big kind of "Here's a refresh of all 4 basic daemons, and a refresh of a foot hero for each" but anons called me retarded and I think they were justified.

Who knows though, it is entirely feasible at some point Slaanesh or any other daemons will get some touchups but like >>98445169 said mortals are doing a solid enough spot gapfilling for that type of thing.
>>
>>98445136
Hey the doctors have given him a year to live, that's enough time for them to surprise us with a plastic version
>>
>>98445178
That'd be kino but I think in both aos and now 40k they seem to have solidly settled on monogod armies with mixed daemons being a novelty army of renown.
I wonder if tow will do anything with them, or if daemons as a concept will just get folded (back) into warriors of chaos.
But yeah piecemeal updates per faction seems most likely. I'm betting khorne first.
>>
Prices are out for the new tow chaos shit by the way, for those interested in proxies.
Knights and warriors are both €70, while the dragon is €150. Same prices as the new zombie dragon, as well as archaon.
Oh and battle march boxes are priced at €140

How long do you think it'll be before more Ogor models get refreshed? Because the Thundertusks and Stonehorns look so cool but the Ogres look old.
When was the last time Ogors got new models before the recent refresh?
>>

It's impossible to predict GW. Armies like CoS, Sylvaneth, Lumineth etc are getting new waves, older armies like Lizards, Rats or Vampires are getting refreshes while armies like Idoneth and DoK and Ogors (before the update) are suffering.
