>/edhg/ constantly whining about the bracket system every thread>in-person I've had 1 minor issue arise while using it in a year+ of weekly play at my LGS with randosReally gets the noggin' joggin'.
>>98435399Yes. We play with friend pods and whine about a system we don't even use.
>>98435239>TQ: What's the best (or worst) mono white edh deck you've ever built? It's the only one I've ever built, therefore the best and worst. I love it though. People tend to underestimate mono-white.
>>98435399Most commander players can't tell you the full banlist despite saying that the banlist needs to be small so people can remember it.
>>98435399I recently got accused of not playing bracket 2 because I happened to draw nexus of fate after the turn I cast it. my deck was pretty thin
>>98435376He could get external haste? How is needing another card a downside for a combo card? Thats the whole point.Getting a second trigger off your big thing you just payed 6 or 8 at the low cost of 2?>>98435384Extra ramp, extra draws, extra whatever payoff at instant speed. How is that winmore? It can take half a win and turn it into a full win.
>>98435380I did have a few draw pieces but they just weren't in hand, such is life >>98435293That's fair
>>98435416Because you're not actually turning "half a win" into a full win. You're imagining scenarios this card has all the setup in the world, is never drawn in the wrong order, and gets to survive until it does something useful. If you want more of X you just run another card that gives you X instead of stuffing in a multiplier and hoping you happen to get it when you need it.

>>98435399I had one issue arise that upset me so much that I disassembled a deck and also told my group that if they ever let that person back in I was quitting. So fuck brackets.
>>98435399I'm convinced it's just one guy doing it.The same retard who goes "but REEEEEEEEstic Study!
>>98435399The bracket system is absolutely retarded and so is everyone who defends it with even a single word. It's effectively five different banlists, but instead of being actual, concrete lists those banlists are ultra vague so everyone can argue anything belongs on them. It's the single worst possible way to handle the "problem" of good decks being better than bad decks.
>>98435512He's fine. Best one for deserts I suppose, thouvh that's not saying much. Dune-brood nephilim is more fun by my measure and gives you access to more deserts.
>>98435557Woah anon you can't just point out how the system is a complete joke. I'll accuse you of never playing.
>>98435535Nice, well they're playing without you now, ignoring you. Next player already has played their land
>>98435557This is strictly not true and only retards can't comprehend the idea of performance based balancing. There's a short list of rules for each bracket and a turn count where you're generally going to threaten a game win. Failing to understand the former is illiteracy, failing to understand the latter is inexperience and a reason you should have one of your less retarded friends look at your decks.
>>98435399Are you, good sir, trying to imply that the denizens of this fine cardboard appreciation and collection forum do not actually engage in the practice of that pass time with other gentlemen? I resent that remake good sir and would ask you to take to meet me for pistols at dawn to defend the honor of this fine establishment.
>>98435580nta but the fact there are constant arguments about the bracket system and what they mean is definitive proof they aren't doing their job. This discussion would not be here if they were clear.
>>98435380Next to Bolas since I also want everyone else in the room dead.
>>98435557>It doesn't make any sense, which is why I can go through and break every tier which means I fully understand it and it making plenty of sense for me to understand how to abuse and break it while still being in the colors of the rules for it!You need to understand something to understand it's flaws, and for it to be understood, it needs to make sense. It's that simple.
>>98435552>I am convinced only one person dislikes the bracket systemYou cannot genuinely think this.

>>98435406why the hell would you put city of brass in a mono colored deck? big ups for using all order borders, thats very pimpin. cant standard the modern almost-no-border frame. crovax is great that is who I was thinking for my first mono white edh deck. which leads me to TQ: I haven't ever made one since 2010. but I used to play mono white in legacy. since you are a negroid if you play Serra ascendant in commander without the proper errata (is 6/6 flyer if your life is 10 more than your starting total) I haven't bothered.but in the legacy deck it was Serra Ascendant, Ajani Pridemate, original Ajani Goldmane planeswalker and Felidar Soverign, beacon of immortality, Test of Endurance etc etc. was funrecently did an updated Vintage one on MTG Forge with the newer cards Ocelot Pride and Shadowspear + the good ol stuff Mox Pearl and Sol Ring and Strip Mine. Lotta fun. no idea how that could translate to commander in a deck that isnt cheeze ball cheater-litewanting to go with Crovax doing a solider tribal I'm actually kind of thinking going red-white for Colonel Mustard from the Clue[do] set. so still no mono white.
>>98435501what illegal card? which card is banned, and by whom?
>>98435594Pretending to have a discussion is not the same as having a discussion and there's been so much begging of the question and concern trolling around that assuming good intent is fucking foolish.Just the MLD discussion is a perfect example; "Blood Moon is Bracket 3" is not an argument, it is a factually wrong statement. If it was a discussion the discussion would be "MLD should be allowed in Bracket 3", because that is an opinion statement that can be supported or opposed in debate. The fact people are flapping their gums and spewing bullshit from both ends is not evidence of rational argument.
>>98435239Based, this is the thread.
>>98435511thats great. and ABU duals should absolutely be in every deck this is zero reason not to
>>98435648Keep telling yourself this rather than accept that your beta has serious issues that need to be worked out. But bracket defenders act like these rules came down from fucking christ and cannot be challenged or changed.Should we talk about the wrong statement where you insisted corrosion+peer was bracket 2 and 3 legal but then when we went to any site that takes a poll on it, they said it was 4?Seems only you are the king bracket whisperer who can understand this shit. We'll need to hire you at every LGS so you can deceipher this shit.

Thanos-Copter is arguably the best vehicle tribal draw engine in the format now.Maybe I'm just hyper focused on vehicles too much. I love them because of how bad they are.

Well, another week of people just being utterly unprepared for this deck. The Y'shtola player did almost doom me with an early painful quandary, but once it was removed the entire table just sort of rolled over under an Apex Devastator.More and more of the games at this store seem to be a mixed bag. There's been a small degree of brain drain as semi-competent players keep getting recruited to the cedh tables.Of course they aren't competent enough to recognize they're playing a bastardized casino format with 0 deck building agency. But a lot of them at least understood the gameplay fundamentals when they still played casual.
>>98438058>competent players move to higher brackets so they don't have to deal with hurting some niggers' feelingscolor me surprised
>>98438052I agree at least on unlimited game changers, and thus MLD cards deserve to be game changers not regulated to bracket 4 only.
>>98437253The Chromatic Siblings
>>98438070The problem is you have to compromise by playing the absolute worst possible version of the format. Every time I hear "agree to draw" from another table I die inside.
>>98438093I'll never understand cedhtroons. They'll flash their hands showing all the counterspells and then agree to a draw. Hello, we aren't playing chess here.
>>98438093>worst possible versionsubjective but I can see your point, not everyone likes a shallow card pool with limited room for brewing. It's a sacrifice some are willing to make for being allowed to play unfun/broken cards. I do digress that the amount of draws have been increasingly annoying and people should start implementing japan's system where draws award 0 pointsNot that I have that problem as I fortunately have three separate groups to play casual, "casino format" and 60-card with. We don't take draws when playing cedh unless there is 100% an unavoidable kingmake scenario.
>>98437868it's a deck that makes itself (doesn't sound too much fun imo), just search "when you draw your 2nd card"
>>98438102I just can't take it seriously as a "competitive" format. If you go last, your odds of winning go down BY HALF. That's not competitive, that's a fucking joke. The stack interactions aren't complex so much as cluttered. I've seen far, far more convoluted and skill-testing lines exercised over years of casual commander. If you have four good players on casual decks it's pure fucking bliss.CEDH is existentially linear. The lines are 100% rehearsed and built around being pushed through semi-telegraphed disruption. You sit down at a table, you know everyone's list at a glance. Casual EDH is, at its best, a much more intelligent game. Which requires adapting to changes in its cadence at any time.>>98438107I can understand people wanting to play thee most powerful cards with thee fastest line. But to me it loses its novelty pretty fast. It's special ed legacy or vintage, which have actual merit as formats in my eyes (barring power crept slop they keep drowning in). Especially when you just can't build your own deck. EDH wouldn't exist in the first place if it wasn't the brewer's format.
>>98437868
>>98438081>allow MLD in B3>B3 just becomes the new B4 containment bracket that people avoid as well>no longer a bracket for relatively high power casual with a few power cards, either have to make a bracket 2.5 that's just the old B3 or have a massive gap in the bracketsBrilliant.
>>98438058Hey King, I'm that Ruby deck similar to your with big splashy spells, how's this guy? I've been considering him but don't know what to switch him out for and if he's even good enough to be a 6 drop.
>>98438126Complete conjecture to soothe your own autism, but go off king
>>98438130Oh, this deck was built to be very similar in principle to the Ruby/Radha meme decks I've seen floating around. I figured if I built this instead I could cut out the middleman of 500 explosive vegetation effects and just fill it with big mana cards.I personally wouldn't recommend him in that variant though. He's solid here because when your commander attacks you get a fetch back and she becomes a 7/7 trampler at minimum. He also hits Kessig Wolf run. But in that version of the deck I think your threats actually need to give markedly more card advantage, as your slots are half-filled with ramp.
>>98438058/edhg/ should post more cats
>>98438120seat order matters in casual too https://playgroup.gg/commander/turn-ordermy b3 group also tracked games for some time and seat 1 had a noticeably higher winrate and we started giving seat 2 and seat 3-4 scry 1 and scry 2 respectively at the start of the gameI can't say for others but vintage/legacy is completely dead in our area so cedh remains an only option for some. You can also build your deck, but of course the card pool is very limited; people thought magda wasn't a viable commander and borne upon a wind was unplayable at first
>>98438154Of course seat order matters in every level of EDH. But it's absolutely ballbusting in CEDH.

>>98436428Attractive black women are great, it's the ugly ones that are in most art, though.
>>98438451It's a solid deck overall for what it's doing. I'm unsure if it needs more card draw engines. You already have a fair number of them. You're more likely to need ways to hit select cards. A lot of your cascaders provide inherent card advantage, so you're always going up in board presence when you tap out for them. The cards you're proposing are more sidegrades than strict upgrades however. I said my piece on Gladiolus, but Beast Whisperer isn't much better than Soul of the Harvest with how the deck functions. It IS probably better than Garruk's Packleader, although I'm not a huge fan of either in this deck. Particularly when you have multiple "big mana matters" payoffs, which neither play nice with.I'd say the weakest cards in the deck in terms of big mana investments are>Kodama of the East TreeRedundant, cheats from hand and counterfeits your cascade triggers.>Stonehoof Chieftain Big but slow, doesn't generate value on its own.>Boarding PartyMost do-nothing among the cascade cards you have in the deck. Annoyed Altisaur is similar but plays better at cascade for cmc 6 vs 5>Groundchuck & DirtbagMana doubling seems a bit win-more when the deck's intention is to ramp constantly. If going this route you might consider Regal Behemoth (less power, but gives the Monarch which helps with your card draw issues)>6-mana EtaliCute card, but slow and can just get 0 value. Not that I'm saying cut it because he is fun to play. The deck also notably lacks haste enablers for the section of your deck that cares about attack triggers. This could be deliberate. My deck only runs Anger as I don't want to consistently run roughshod over the table off a lucky cascade. Rhythm of the Wild would likely work well here though.Frostfang is also much better card draw in a go-wide deck. I don't know if I would consider it here before something like, say, Return of the Wildspeaker.
>>98438525if you played bracket 4 you'd know it's not an expected part of the meta because it's dogshit by comparison to what actually happens in bracket 4. decks are both simply running under it and they have all the free interaction to stop it. that's why MLD players are so fucked, they're literally banned from half the brackets and it's functionally unplayable in the brackets it's allowed in.
>>98438544Blood Moon/Magus/etc actually should be allowed in B3 so that there is a cost to greedy manabases without actually setting people back on mana.

You guys know brackets are just a guideline, right? Even in the original article it tells you to just talk to your playground about exceptions and allowances. You can sandbag and save cards for rebuilding after half your opponents get BTFO for over-extending. MLD is only a problem because people have been allowed to just never think about it. >>98438554Hey thanks for the recommendations! You're definitely right about those cards. I'm going to see about changing Kodama, Boarding party, and Groundchuck. I like that Stonehoof protects my guys and Etali is pretty fun.I don't have Behemoth, but I have Dawnglade Regent. I'm thinking of swapping top with bottom. Two more card draw cards, some more value and a haste enabler. I also have a craterhoof, maybe I should add that too? I don't have Return of the wild speaker or Rhythm of the wild though.
>>98438914Groundchuck & Dirtbag for Frostfang is "ok." Probably a small upgrade. Their mana doubling is redundant, whereas the snake's card draw is not. I do believe you'll brush up against having not that many creatures on board at a time, but even then your creatures ARE big and trample-y, so they do interact nice with deathtouch so it's probably alright. Even drawing 2-3 cards a turn is a decent refuel.Dawnglade Regent isn't a bad pick either. Nor is the Godmaw, even if it is slow. Lack of fetches makes it way way weaker. That being said I actually think in vacuum circumstances it's better than Craterhoof for your deck. Specifically with turning redundant ramp spells into a reason to get damage in.Not to downplay Craterhoof however. It IS strong and can kill the entire out of nowhere. It's a meme card for a reason. And you do run Avenger and Omnath. But with how high the deck's curve is I don't think it's a super-reliable kill. Plus 8 mana for a one-off +4/+4-ish overrun effect isn't where you want to be. The Godmaw meanwhile gives vigilance. So any time you play a land for turn you can get away with swinging in for free while not letting your shields down.I still wouldn't include Gladiolus thougheverbeit. Hard-casting him in that deck seems like it'd feel really bad.
I want to win with Barren Glory.I though about oblivion ringing one and then casting apocalypse but I got surprised by the low amount of "exile it until ~ leaves the battlefield" effects that can target your stuff.I hate all these "target X an opponent controls" cards; that, and asymmetrical effects.

Just let the board leader win and shuffle up.If you care about winning THAT game, they are good. The shituber sphere is trying to make people believe winning isn't the end all be all, don't be afraid to just lose and move on to the next.
What is your favorite commander that came in a commander product?>pic related>one of the OGs
>>98439526I really like Tariel even though she's kind of a turd.
>>98439563Yeah. I think that was in the original Kaalia deck, and it was strong cheating it out.
>>98439526Skullbriar is a close runner up
I really want to larp as Dio with one of the Obeka cards as my commander and make a shit ton of copies of this garbage and that vehicle toss card from the marvel setThanks for listening to my Ted Talk
>>98439442Tbf you shouldn’t be using board wipes that clear the entire board if you can help it. Whenever I’m optimising a deck I always try to put in asymmetrical wipes that barely touch my own shit or not at all.
>>98439526Master Formed Anew, though before that it was Mairsil. I need to do a deep dive on scryfall and find some strange build-around creatures for him some day. It'll be hard to make something cohesive-feeling as Cellarspawn, though.
>>98439914While that is true I'd argue pretty strongly that red in particular doesn't have the same luxury on asymmetric creature sweepers other colors do. Delayed Blast Fireball or Mizzium Mortars are the best you've got but they won't kill important targets a good number of the times you need to. Blasphemous act is often red's only way out of a gigantic gummed up board.
My board wipes are killing players
>>98439975Run fliers
>>98439442I'm gonna play my big slow creatures by tapping mana (the fair and honest way) and if I gotta blow up everyone elses shit 5 times so be it.
https://archidekt.com/decks/24887241/stompy_burnAny suggestion on what might tweak this to be better (other than the mana base, they're just place holders because getting every dual land is really annoying.)>What's its end goal?Try and get enough mana to drop the Apex Altisaur onto the board, then fight the entire board to then exile my entire deck with Expedient Inheritence, then play my entire deck, and then using trickery with Fury of the hordes and cards that return cards from the graveyard to my library and damage that can be dealt to my own creatures to keep exiling them, to keep playing them to keep untapping lands and/or a big dork to keep playing them until everyone is dead through burn, actual combat damage, or if push comes to shove keep copying etali to just mill everyone to death.
>>98439526Junding since 2013.I need a new deckpic i think this is 3 cards out of date looking at it close
>>98437266It's bizarre because chances are high they've never gotten their dicks wet in the first place
>>98440352Use Overpowering Attack instead of fury of the hordes, it does the same thing and is 2 mana cheaper.
why does it feel like most of the background commanders only have one good background imo
>>98440431There's a limited number of actually good background in general. Wish we would get another batch of both creatures and backgrounds.
abdel secret tech
>>98440431Many of them have none. It was made for limited, so it supported your deck doing more than one thing with the limited cards you drafted.
>>98440440What's the tech? Not ever getting your own stuff back?
>>98440443doesn't work that way
>>98440352Just build it with etali as the commander you idiot.
>>98440440im sick and tired of this guy, he always does the same thing its just a busted textbox
>>98440461No
>>98440431I'm just grateful for Haunted One. Wilson golgari bear tribal soon.
>>98440431>When it just makes a mono red deck.
>>98440452Yeah, fair, it's srill the same permanent. Regardless, what's the tech?
>>98439526
>>98440599they never don't not take the draw.... you just win from the command zone
>Watch a big shituber>Pays for a rhystic tax with a mana rock he just played that triggered the rhystic in the first place.
>>98440713That would actually be great troll content desu senpai
Reminder that telling people Dockside Extortionist is banned is missing the point of the format.
>>98440757This guy just doesn't get Garfield's vision of magic the gathering. Arguing about how rules interactions work should be half the game.
>>98440757I don't get what the image has to do with your post
>ban most of the banlist>bring back the old tuck rule>bring back the old legendary rule>ban UB by defaultThere. I fixed the format.
>>98440713>shit tuber doesn’t know that Rhystic is a cast trigger and so he can’t use the mana rock he just cast to pay the mana because it isn’t a permanent yet
>>98440773We can smell your pulsating and rotting neo vagina from here.
>>98440778Why are you just repeating what I said
>>98440770BSky poster ranting about how a time they were told Dockside is banned so they can't play it.
>>98440489SHUTTUP HAUNTED ONE SUCKS
>>98440916NEW THREAD
>>98438836I've been explaining that for over a month now to a friend I recently got into the game. It's impossible, I cannot get him to understand this basic principle in English, these are the "rules" he sees so they're the rules he will follow. He is a hardcore liberal, literally a homosexual, why are those types such bootlickers at all the worst times? I have no idea.
