Have you ever played a parent? how did it go?
>>
Bakeslave should be blonde.
>>
>>98443904
Had a "company man" type Tremere who had a son in life & after the son came of age & he thought he was ready, the dad used a boon to ask his sire to embrace the son too. It ended up being a terrible idea as the son went borderline Anarch.
>>
>>98443936
the faeries are gonna get him soon enough.
>>
>>98443936
Bakeslave would make for an interesting test subject. I wonder if the SPD is willing to lend him for a while...

>>98443939
Yeah, my thought is they wanted to show "this is what happens to vampires who don't get a sort of identity reinforcement that comes with the clans & kindred society". I dont like it, i kind of wish they chose something else, but I understand it
>>
>>98443941
Should've denied the request and had yim beaten for failing to leave his old life behind. Maybe some light sublight therapy.
>>
I once wrote a story about a ragtag bunch of Changing Breeds.
Zero culture. Zero intelligence. Zero idea what they're doing.
Somehow more effective than their actual cultures because they're not infighting for pride
>>
>>98444116
He had done really good work Pyramid, & he had left his life behind, the son though him dead & the mother was already dead. The father had kept an eye on his son for a while & the son seemed like a prime candidate for recruitment on his own. So he broached the subject with his sire & the sire agreed that the son was a good candidate & vould be groomed for Embrace as long as he was the one to do it & not the father. That way loyalty wouldnt be as much of an issue.

Still ended badly & was the father's only black mark in an otherwise good reputation

genuinely how popular is v5 because as far as I'm aware most people dont even really associate WOD with anything other than VTMB
>eugenics
???? just play hunter and have the vampires die to humans??? or just play smarter than the strong vampires??? the blood thing is a literal curse passed down from god and all vampires are strengthened by it but also it compels them to be cruel and wicked. the entire point is youre newer to this and you havent lost touch with your humanity???? you're supposed to beat them because you haven't abandoned yourself for powers?
youre supposed to find ghouling gross and evil, youre supposed to find diablerie horrible and the fact youre a blood sucking parasite awful.
You aren't supposed to want to be like the elders.
>>
>>98444231
>we've seen supremacists in the community
Y'know the funny thing?
Logically, WE'RE the ones they're talking about, right? We're the big scary 4chan full of /pol/tards exclusively and we use naughty words.

But we're not vampire supremacists. Not with any level of seriousness except "they're my favourite lol", which exists in the same camp as the actual literal devs making Tremere hate jokes. Cuz y'know, fuck the Tremere.

So who are these people? Who are the shadows they're jumping at?
>>
>>98444267
There are plenty of white supremacists and hate groups here, though, which is what he's talking about. Evil people who use fictional narratives as an excuse to slide in their garbage and bile.
>>
>>98444267
We just said supremacists you monkey. Weird nazi fucks get attracted to World of Darkness because of all the conspiracy theories and such that it uses. They tend to be Mage players, almost entirely. Every game line has this problem because nazis are just as autistic as the gays.
>>
>>98444231
What the fuck is eugenicism? Are these people so retarded they have to add -ism to words so everyone know its 'le bad'?
>>
>>98444273
But that's what I'm saying. There's plenty of racists here, but outside of 'hehe tziggers' nobody is applying those ideas TO vampires, least of because of Clans having blood succession that makes you how you are. They don't HAVE genetics, they have a curse that compels them, sometimes in ways at odds with who they were as a person.

So if we're not the vampire supremacists using WoD to push hate... who the fuck IS? I hate Indians for the same reasons everyone else does, I'm not using the Ravnos to try and explain why or convince people to do so.
>>
>>98444266
>>98444267
I think what he's geting at here is the fact that some clans are inherently superior to others, like the Ventrue, this is bad because it implies the existence of a world where categories of individuals can be inherently superior, these people hate Essentialism in everything, if they catch a whiff of it they have a fit.
>>
>>98444294
Nigga we're talking about people being racist cunts in the community and you're just proving the point. Also there is zero chance you play vampires, you're clearly some werewolf or shitty ass mage player.

literally the most famous game has clan ventrue's rep be LaCroix, an arrogant pissant who demands authority and everyone to follow his whims while offering next to no support and tenuously grasping at his reign as it slips through his fingers. You also murder him in almost all the endings or you end up dying because you listened to his dumbass plan or tried doing what he did.
Like, Clan Ventrue does have power yeah, but like there's inherent power imbalances in the world we call life. World of Darkness is explicitly set in a parallel reality to our own where everything that happened happened but it sucked more and it was darker and edgier.

Imo 4chan racism and white supremacy come more from a place of reactionary autism and in-group preference rather than full unironic belief in "white man good, negro bad." Of course, the two meld together but I like to maintain that there's a difference in evidence based racism and the "I don't like them because someone told me not to like them so we don't like them" type of racists a lot of white supremacists fall into."

I'm not sure I'm putting in words correctly, but I like to think 4chan for the most part does intellectual racism as opposed to lower IQ hatred of outsiders instinct pandering. Maybe I have too much faith though.

At the very least, I sort of understand the idea that certain bloodlines are the "superior" bloodlines, but that's just a normal part of reality and the setting. Yeah, it makes a lot of sense the elite are going say they're part of a superior bloodline if they're styled after euro nobility, shocker.

Working on Einherjar as a European mummy variant. Not sure what im gonna call the different Dynasties yet. I have Harii but thats just one name.

Im giving them two new Seidr (Hekau)
One is gonna be battle magic, not sure what to name it yet.
The other is going to be Feasting. Feasting is about eating food & the ritual of it will create magic effects. Things like curing derangements, erasing memories, gaining social benefits, even special abilities from eating prepared food like a dragonbreath spell triggered by feasting a prepared piece of jerky.

Opinions?

I think you're misunderstanding him. He seems to be saying that, if the game mechanically creates a real hierarchy that is blood/clan-based, it will reinforce ideology in the real world that revolves around race-based hierarchies.
To me, this is extremely laughable because the game does need to have mechanically reinforced hierarchies around shit like this in order for it to be used to tell compelling stories about why that shit is bad and wrong. This is a horror game. It's like saying this game promotes harm by having vampires compel people to do their bidding with Disciplines, form manipulative codependent relationships with Vinculum, and KILL PEOPLE! VIOLENTLY! I mean ffs the vampiric embrace is quite readily interpreted as a metaphor for sexual assault. So essentialist hierarchal structures? They are just one more fucked up thing about being a vampire, which is supposed to be scary.
Does Get Out promote harvesting organs from black people?

The only actually 'harmful' (and my god, it is just a fucking game and one meant for adults that ought to be able to think critically) thing they did in my mind was nWoD having immoral acts induce mental illness instead of traumatic/fucked up *experiences*. Some fucked things you do should damage your mind, sure, but not like... Any. That system really did reinforce the idea that being mentally ill and being evil are inextricable. They fixed this pretty quick with the Danse Macabre book introducing Banes instead of Derangements. But I'm a therapist so I'm biased on this. I have definitely met people that are mentally ill because of their evil disposition, and people whose mental illness induced them to do evil things (which they sometimes regretted and repented for for the rest of their lives, truly). But the most evil people I have ever known were actually quite mentally sound. They chose to do fucked up stuff of their own volition, knowing the gravity of their choices and the consequences.

>In the Ten Thousand Hells of Eastern legend, he found the solution. Yama Queen Tou Mu was barely a shadow of Kali, but she was divine. He approached her, offering to synthesize his Awakened power with her own, but he kept his own council. At the culmination of the tantric sex between the archmage and the goddess, Voormas released the souls bound to her. His necromantic skills were insurmountable; the stolen souls that made her a match for the archmage dispersed. Perverting the spiritual union between Shiva and Shakti, Voormas devoured her remaining essence. He then returned to the Apex of History with the stolen spirit of a goddess, and as his divinity was confirmed, he claimed his prize.

What did I saw about knowing to avoid magefags? This is the sort of shit you will deal with it, being murdered in a tantric sex ritual so your new trans lover can attempt to destroy the concept of death because he is weird as fuck

Wraith implies that Vampires are failed form of Risen, whereas WTA claims the Beast is a piece of Beast of War latched onto the soul like a parasite.

So I'm finishing up a Mage game for my usual group, next up I'm planning on running Werewolf since my players were interested in giving it a try. While thinking about plot hooks and locations for the new campaign, the thought of Alaska came up. It sounds like a great place for werewolves; Lots of wide open wilderness, massive wolf population, prominent oil and mining operations that could make for Pentex antagonists. I'm a little worried about the small population making things feel a little "small potatoes", but then again, protecting the Alaskan wilderness from pollution is probably as high a priority for the Garou as taking back or cleansing more contested areas.

Does WoD have any canonical lore on Alaska, particularly on Anchorage? Otherwise, I'd appreciate hearing some plot hook ideas for an Alaskan Werewolf game; I've got plenty of ideas already, but the more the merrier.
>>
>>98446343
I think there is a redeeming path forward, but it is also one that would be antithetical for them to take, because they lack both the courage and fortitude to do so, and it would still require them to not immediately write new garbage to replace old garbage, and the entire company - like countless "modern writers" - seem to be convinced that they can "do better" and also consider "all art is political!" and thus have an impetuous to "teach the right message" and not be "problematic".

It's just not going to happen.

The number of people to be interacted with is always subject to fiat, if you think about it. What does 10 million offer that you can't get with 10 000, when it comes down to it? Vampires have the issue of needing to feed and needing to hide, but for normies and Werewolves and kinfolk and such it really doesn't matter.

no the victim still need to have only have 1 or less vitae in the system that's what makes the skin contact diablerie even more stupid because you can not drink blood through skin contact in any other scenario

>To diablerize a victim, all the following must be true:
>• You must be a Duskborn or a vampire.
>• The victim must be a Duskborn or vampire.
>• The victim must be immobilized, paralyzed, or in torpor.
>• The victim must have no more than 1 Vitae, which you consume as part of the process
>The Act. Once you have a suitable victim, you must spend at least 10 minutes consuming its soul. This is a supernatural act, and it requires some form of physical contact between you and the victim. Any skin-to-skin contact will do, though many vampires feel most comfortable biting the victim.

>Feeding is the act of drinking blood from a source, such as an animal, a blood bag, a human, or a vampire. It is typically a slow, gradual process, each gulp of blood timed to the beating of the victim’s heart.

>Imagine getting overshadowed by your backstory predecessors.
This is a common motif in media, and objectively true for practically all the Clans, in one way or another.

I think the funniest fucking thing about the Giovanni is that while they have access to Necromancy blood magic, which they jealously guard, nothing actually prevents anyone else from learning it.

Meanwhile, the Samedi actually has a death-based Discipline, Thanatosis, essentially carrying powers of Necromancy in the blood, even if they have lost easy access to necromantic teachings. To me it just reinforces the idea that the Samedi are the chosen successors of Cappadocius while Giovanni was spurned.

>Not entirely sure why Paradox is obsessed with reinventing the wheel.
It is a crisis in almost the entire western creative field. I personally think it is because a lot of the modern developers/writers have a background as primarily tourists, while also being intensely arrogant in regards to those that came before, so they are convinced that they can "do it better", but they also do not understand why things were as they were either, so they think they can just take things out and put new things in; then the structure collapses and instead of going back they reinvent the wheel but worse.
>>
>>98447096
Yeah, the V20 of taking Necromancy away from the Samedi doesn't really make much sense, considering that the Samedi should have learned Necromancy generationally, even if their access to the libraries have been cut off. At the same time, I have always maintained that blood magics should not "count as" disciplines to begin with, and that access should be narratively gated, even if that means that some clans are "better". At best, "Blood Magic" should be a singular Discipline that determines how good you are at doing the channeling necessary to perform blood magic related to any blood magic path that you learn.

i don't think the giovanni really care about Cappadocius opinion they rightfully point out that the guy was a total nutjob and would have doomed us all and that the one heroic thing they ever did was kill him

and dark age vampire and revised already turned mortis into just being another word for necromancy in 2002 anyway so your argument holds no water

>Blood Sorcery
>Two of the Disciplines listed in this chapter, Mortis and Thaumaturgy, behave differently than the others do. "..." Mortis and Thaumaturgy, however, are forms of blood sorcery, and they unleash a wider scope of powers. To reflect this property, they are each broken into two parts: path magic and rituals
those are from Dark Ages Vampire pg 171

>Mortis is a form of blood sorcery concerned with the condition of the corpse after death. The Cappadocian scholars teach that the soul leaves the body and goes to its reward when life ends, yet something remains. It is this “something,” both the physical fact of a rotting body
and the spiritual echo left within it, that is the subject of Mortis. Rumor has it that elders of the clan have purposefully Embraced Venetian sorcerers skilled in the ways of affecting the souls displaced from bodies, an art they call nigrimancy. Many traditional Cappadocians find the idea of trafficking with ghosts and souls unpleasant at best and heretical at worst.

Wasn't there a subplot somewhere implying that the Samedi fled the Giovanni purge of the Cappadocians, and that they took a part of Cappadocius' Vitae with them, thus preventing Giovanni from fully diablerizing him?

Because now I'm imagining that Samedi ritually shared and drank the blood and that is why they have Thanatosis which would also explain why Giovanni has never been able to get ahold of it.

>dark age vampire and revised already turned mortis into just being another word for necromancy
Yes, and?
>your argument holds no water
My brother in Caine, you are the only one that seems to be having an argument with yourself here. 人

Ignoring the schizobabble though, you do raise one interesting (albeit unrelated) factoid:
>rightfully point out that the guy was a total nutjob
>would have doomed us all
>the one heroic thing they ever did was kill him
While all absolutely true, from an in-universe point of view we only really have the Giovanni's claims regarding this to go on, which can really only be considered post-hoc rationalizations in order to excuse the act. To most, Cappadocius was a Christian(-ish) scholar of death that considered the pursuit of humanity central enough to his clan that he buried everyone in it that was not committed to doing.. well if not "good" then at least some variation thereof, or at least the lesser evils.

And let's be honest, who wouldn't want to diablerize the god of the Semites?

>My brother in Caine, you are the only one that seems to be having an argument with yourself here.
you said not having a death discipline somehow makes the spurned and having one makes one the chosen successors of Cappadocius
which is just not a thing because the cappadocians don't have a death discipline they just have a death themed blood sorcery and cappadocius choose the giovanni the so hard that if you kill augustus in the giovanni chronicles he brings him back to life

>we only really have the Giovanni's claims regarding this to go on, which can really only be considered post-hoc rationalizations in order to excuse the act. T
The cainite heresy that went to found the sabbat also knew because they discovered the cappadocian cult that wanted to support their clan founder in this endavor. the setites knew because of lazarus. the founders of the camarilla and the council of elders behind clan ventrue also knew because of the events in the giovanni chronicle and the true black hand knew because of the bahari

in general the cappadocians where so disliked that there been two seperate conspiracies to kill japeth at the same time and unlike the salubri nobody is sad that they cappadocians are gone
>Cappadocius was a Christian(-ish) scholar of death that considered the pursuit of humanity central enough to his clan that he buried everyone in it that was not committed to doing.. well if not "good" then at least some variation thereof, or at least the lesser evils.
we don't actually know which answers to the questions at the feast of folly been the right ones and it's implied that being a good person was not what cappadocious was looking for like he asks who follows the path to heaven but we know the most common path after the feast was the path of bones

It is actually hilarious that an ENORMOUS amount of people, most ironically of all the anarch-wanking "media literate" tourists, never picked up on this simple fact. Jack isn't a "coarse but legit dude", he's a genuine asshole and was a literal lifetime pirate and murderer long before he even was embraced.

>>98446743
The man on the couch? Mercurio? Seems like an odd prophecy considering that he's LaCroix's ghoul. While it never comes to pass, it is easy to imagine him "betraying" the player.

Nines happily uses the player as much as anyone, but what did Damsel do? Although I've never met a Marxist that could be trusted, I don't think she actually ever does anything wrong.
>>
>>98447272
Mercurio is great and as far as I can tell he gets his blood from multiple vampires. Also Jack is great - if you play VTMB he makes it pretty clear what all this is about and how elder scheme and literally tells you to your face that you're being used.

The PC literally has Caine himself driving him around, the plot of that game was awesome.

there was actually backlash about him not being a chill bro with beckett when BJD came out

which i always thought was really hillarious because BJD has some real stinkers in there but people complained about the one time one guy was in character

>The man on the couch? Mercurio? Seems like an odd prophecy considering that he's LaCroix's ghoul. While it never comes to pass, it is easy to imagine him "betraying" the player.
I guess that's why they had the malkavian thinblood prophecy there instead of someone saying "i think you can trust that ghoul guy" which would make no sense and i can also see the argument for him staying cool Mercurio never actually interacts much with LaCroix so while he is blood bound his actual attachment to the guy is very weak and you saved his life by not telling on him to LaCroix so it's another case of the prince having a skill issue

and Damsel probably can't be trusted because she is just Nine's underling but yeah you don't really have enough interactions with her to worry about her pulling anything
>>

Nothing he said was a lie and Lacrox is trying to kill you. I admit though I haven't played VTMB as a non-malk for ages and Malks are aware of the whole thing right from the get-go. Got a source on that? Because the Giovanni chronicles span four books and I am willing to bet that this is not as hard of a statement as you try to make it out to be.
>everyone knew everything about everything because someone within a loose organization knew something
I realizing this may read as a somewhat disingenuous paraphrasing, but it is essentially what you suggest, and I simply find that exceptionally hard to believe.
>nobody is sad the cappadocians are gone
SAD? Maybe not. But there's absolutely forces and people that are upset and still seething over it. Funnily enough I'd suspect that the survivors like the Samedi or the Harbingers are likely the least moved by it, albeit for different reasons. The Samedi because they laugh at anyone thinking that was the end of Cappadocius and the Harbingers because they were "betrayed" by their Antediluvian.
>we don't actually know which answers to the questions at the feast of folly been the right ones
Very fair point, and the type of ambiguity I do love. Point was more about the perception than the reality. Although to be fair, with the Harbingers running around, you'd think at least one of them would make it clear that "I *did* answer all those questions in accordance to the teachings!" if you got shelved for building a church or following the Path to Heaven.

It becomes funnier when you realize that Jack isn't just tugging at your strings, because why would he limit himself to you? Jack is likely tugging at multiple strings at once, most notably the anarchs. Jack likely actively manipulates Nines even though it ends up getting Nines final'd. Jack is the kind of background manipulator that does everything to not seem like a background manipulator. Jack does all of this seemingly only because he hates LaCroix personally.

Jack is a piece of shit.

Why would you go onto the internet just to lie, I don't understand. Nines is fine. The only string Jack is pulling on is Lacrox's and he's literally working for the father of all vampires.

All Jack did was kill a boat full of morties and lock the sarcophagus. The whole thing is literally Caine's plan.

Jack literally caused the whole chaos in the city. He used you as his puppet to make everyone more paranoid and happy trigger. To the point of causing Beckett to believe in the sarcophagus.

He used Anarchs for his own plan, he provoked Camarilla and he baited Kuei-jin. Only reason Nines isn't dead is because of the plot armor he has.

Hell, if you consider what Protag does, Jack alone caused the death of a few dozen vampires, at very least and not including shovelheads.
>>
>>98447382
Anon... play the game again. Jack is just working for Caine. All he did was kill the people on the ship (Pirate) and relock the box. Besides helping you if you accept the tutorial that's pretty much all Jack does all game long. It's all Caine needed him to do.

If you play a Malk there is even dialog IIRC that seems to imply he's worried about you blowing the whole thing because you're psychic. This part, and only this part, is something I could be wrong about.

>>98447381
Yeah Nines almost gets killed because of Lacrox and the blood hunt. Then he almost gets killed because werewolf. This is all according to Caine's plan. Jack borderline acts like he feels bad that you're getting as involved as you are.

It's fascinating to see that this is in no way new and the Beast has always been something you can separate from yourself.
There's still a bit of wiggle room here that it's part of YOU and not something alien possessing your body, but the same's going to be true of V6's interpretation I'd wager.

Thank you for posting these, I admit I run the game more than I read it, especially older editions. I wonder if there's some potential disconnect there, with some segment of the WoD fanbase primarily reading it and knowing all the weird and wacky lore while another segment just reads the corebook and runs with the ideas presented on their interpretation, and never the twain shall meet? Because speaking to other STs they all interpret the Beast differently in a way that, evidently, isn't true to how the sources write them. I love most of those interpretations, but it's interesting to see that we're all mostly wrong except in a few ways.

>>98445389

>Got a source on that? Because the Giovanni chronicles span four books and I am willing to bet that this is not as hard of a statement as you try to make it out to be.
i have to get the quote on it later today if you are still interested then because i am in the train to work now but it's pretty much just the typical white wolf chronicle railroad if you stop the giovanni and in any way cappadocius waves his hand and makes everything well again for them and that includes resurrecting augustus if you manage to kill him he does that because what is about to happen to him and his clan is exactly what he wants to happen as part of his plan to eat god

it's also noteable because i think this is the first time antedeluvians are shown as "plot device" and godlike level of powerful instead of methuselah of lower generation down than others
>SAD? Maybe not. But there's absolutely forces and people that are upset and still seething over it.
i can't think of any which to be fair might be because they been retconed in, but pretty much nobody mentions them in the final nights setting

i am not saying everyone does the average vampire knows jack shit but a lot of the people in power did find out about it

>. Although to be fair, with the Harbingers running around, you'd think at least one of them would make it clear
they should destroy the mystery you are right but i would also point out that just answering one question wrong would not get you shelved and that the offical goal of the feast of folly was not to fix his clan but to deal with the clan's overpopulation issue so most harbinger might just think that they got a short stick?

This is an interesting point, and it's something people often get wrong about CtD, it's not really about hiding, Changelings absolutely cannot stagnate. Let's put it like this, let's say you're playing a game that is deliberately street level, the way it usually goes is that you befriend your motley, and because you all will literally die if you don't stoke the flames that your soul needs to live, you go out and try to make the world as full of hope as possible. If you're not playing a low stakes game, then the sky is the limit when you have stuff like Metamorphosis and Naming. In my game the Troll character for instance is not afraid at all to flex his Primal 5 and go around changing shit for the better.
Think about it, this isn't the Lost, you CANNOT hide, even sitting in a freehold will just make you fall to bedlam, you need to go out there, and if there is no easy glamour to be found, and you find out the Sabbat are using mortals as living blood bags not too far from here, suddenly you have some mortals that would be very happy to be saved.
Changeling is about being dynamic and enacting change, because if you don't live your dreams, you will die. Changelings do change the world, but it's in a different way from Mage, it's less about paradigms and more about hope. It's actually my favorite WoD game for a reason.

It's the Americans.
Notably when Chapman is first introduced it was clearly written by someone who did their research on what rural-ish British police are like. Chapman uses the PEACE method of interview, which he points out directly to camera as a "Hey, don't assume I'm like the police you're familiar with, Americans" type thing, and people broadly don't have a real problem with them; not even D, despite all his anarchism, because they're the rural British police, they're part of the community they're in, they're trained in deescalation and don't come armed because they're not in any way an occupying force.

Come Chapman's reappearance in his and Kevin's drive episode, the way he and Kevin talk about the police is much more in line with the American idea of them, and a far cry from the surprisingly even-handed depiction of what policing actually is in the UK. They're basically looking into camera and going "cops, amirite?" in stark contrast to how it used to be.

I'm sure there's other examples of the show getting progressively more Americanised, but that was one that really stood out to me.

Vampires themselves can't agree, and in some ways it could be argued that your humanity is influenced more by what you personally believe than by any abstract definition of a human. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a direct interaction between Caine's Curse and the Traditions. Via Humanitatis was also the one you been on while embraced in the dark age setting. the only things that changed been political: that the camarilla decided to demonize paths as the tool of the enemy, the sabbat killed paths off it seemed to be too soft and the independents relation with their pet paths stayed pretty much exactly the same

The Beast is an atavism of what youll become if you let your humanity drop, & being a vampire is like taking the barrel that holds the tattered remains of your soul & kicking the bottom out. Better work hard or it'll all spill out. You can modify the Beast so its not digging into you as much, but its there & its waiting for you to show weakness. You do not have an Avatar. Avatars are bullshit that gets stapled to you to make you a mage. If it was just a corrupted Avatar or the like, then the Tremere wouldnt have lost their magic, they just be some variant of Nephandi/Marauders/whatever. The Beast is what you are without your humanity.

This is something I think would be better represented by taking a little bit of Lost.

Have Winter, more reflective of Stasis tham just death. Everything frozen & cold & unmoving but alive. Its also creeping onward. You've got to fight the hold of winter, keep the fire alive. Keep hope, passion, & love burning. But Winter has agents doing the opposite. Autumn people are those who do things that should be passionate & interesting, like the bug collector from Autumn People, but theyve lost the wonder that would normally be involved in the act. Like how Funko pops are a sick corruptive spin on celebrating your hobby, literally killing all the fun things that used to be there. But Winter's People are those that reap, the Death nell of wonder. You could have things like the Wild Hunt for players to fight against. Actual enemies beyond just the vibe dying. A consequence for sticking your neck out to create Glamour, is that Winter is coming to kill you & the more you expose yourself by helping & creating, the more Winter draws a bead on you.

So if I could, I would make the enemy more tangible & maybe take the teeth out of Banality as a punishment just a bit.

Bloodlines 2 is even worse about it, to the point I started empathizing with the former Prince because she is the only character in the game that understands what they are.

>>
As for the Cappy discussion.
The Feast of Folly was two fold.

First was to allow Gios to "usurp" the bloodline & continue to explore necromancy as they seemed particularly gifted in advancing it.

Second, seal the others in the Underworld so that they coukd evolve past the needs of the flesh & learn to feed on death. Without the ability to sup on the dead, how do you even approach feeding on God?

The plan was to then release the Harbingers & then consume the Gios & take back their place, & take all their neceomancy knowledge/fold the two halves back together.

Sad you couldn't bang that lady even if she was mental. I wish I recall this game more, but even I played it not long ago there weren't that many memorable moments in it. I think you need to remember that bloodlines is old enough that some people forget context. You don't even know that the cab driver is caine. It's just implied if I recall correctly if you play a malkavian and based on the game files calling him the dark father. It's a conclusion one might jump to but because the studio died we'll never know for certain how their bloodlines two would look like.

>>98448162
That was probably the result of using V5 lore where the sabbat are just the bad guys before the devs probably change their minds on that for V6. Phyre as a protagonist wasn't the worst, as an elder vampire? Could have used more work, would have made more sense to have a bone to pick with the sabbat if there was a personal grudge at all. At least they let you collect all the powers though like most npc elders typically do.

As an American, I don't think you can chalk this up to nationality. The idea of a friendly police force is, despite what our media might tell you, not unheard of out in the sticks. Though the opiate crisis has hardened a lot of rural sheriff's offices. I think you've got your own cultural slant. Police aren't seen as an "occupying force" by anyone outside of a major city with a rampant crime problem, and even then, only be a subset of said city. They're armed because this is America, and we're far more lax about carrying a gun, and/or a cop without a firearm is unfit for purpose due to their prevalence, legal or otherwise.

They shit on the protestants in the Fatigue log, they're shitting on the catholic leopoldites. I think a much more logical assumption is that one of the writers had a bad time in Sunday school and has an axe to grind. The colonialism and cop hate also follow suit as unchecked authorial bias, especially when the three are often bundled together. Though it hasn't become unbearable.

.t the guy who's been complaining about how they've depicted the SoL since day one.

I don't really like Assamites very much, but I absolutely loved Pink. I love when they do actual assassin shit, and Pink being some old Assamite pretending to be a dipshit Brujah neonate and needling you into helping him kill all his targets and screaming through gritted teeth every time Christoph offers a foe mercy should they yield, according to his chivalric virtues is the kind of actual assassin shit that clan needs way more of.

To add to this. Seige mentality is an urbanite/black thing far more than aregular America thing. Americans still remember Mayberry, we still like our small town sheriff's & Columbo type charming well meaning & gifted detectives. In a more general sense, no body likes cops, priests, or the like on the sole reason that such figures tend to make someone feel judged or even guilty for no reason, let alone if there IS a reason. Its why so many angsty young people become such antiauthoritarians. All it takes is one bad experience to create a self fulfilling prophecy & cycle of conflict between a person like that & authority figures.

Its like Pentex realized people were resisting the grey cubicle suburban hellscape and so they decided to buy all the colors. Its why the left hates JK Rowling. Hell, they dont even care about leftist economics, its ALL about culture conformity now.

Its why peoole joke about how Trad is "punk" now.

But yes, some authority figures in the urban areas see some of the most messed up shit and then get told theyre the villains when they have to deal with those animals, and they start to become desensitized and treat any offender as an animal too. Thats why its a cycle of conflict & a self fulfilling prophecy, both sides turn the wheel

My theory has always been that everyone has an Avatar, but when you die it detaches from you like a part of your soul, but the Beast rises up to fill the space.

This is why metaphysical/historical fluff should be kept vague and never be demystified. Theories and ideas are always more interesting than getting the actual answer.
>>
>>98448635
It can cause a bit of ludonarrative dissonance (though the sheer amount of no name ghouls and vampires in said dungeons are already a bit immersion-breaking), but my recommendation is to cheat to give Christoph fuckloads of experience, max out celerity and other melee stats, and then zoom around the dungeon at mach 2 killing everyone in 1-2 hits.

Helps you get to the story without the sloggy gameplay.

Christoph is built different man. Dusting a tzigger while still mortal isn't even his top feat, really. While being at most a month dead, he storms the Vienna chantry and punches Etrius in the face until Etrius tells him what he wants to know in order to get him to leave. He potentially breaks canon by killing several characters that aren't supposed to die, gets torpored fighting a Methuselah to a standstill, wakes up like 800 years later, and immediately tears his way through a society of leopold safehouse. No Caine to buff him up for plot reasons. Man was built stupid.

It's also hilarious how hard other women throw themselves at him, but he's too autistic/chivalrous to even notice. He must rescue his fair Anezka.

By all rights, he should come across as an annoying gary stu, but he's so earnest in his dumbass chivalry that it makes him endearing.

Thats awesome! Thank you very much. It seems like Arcane can also be actively lowered too so youre not stuck as a shade of your former self.

I wonder if a character could gain Arcane 5 themselves through background, then use an effect or an item like the one listed in the Enchanting Path to temporarily go over the 5 dots. To say, wear a mask that let's you be forgotten, so you can go do some stuff & then take of the mask when youre done & still exist as yourself

Also, I wonder how that effects combat. Arcane 8+ sounds like youd be instantly forgettable once out of sight, so you could punch a dude & he'd forget you if you broke line of sight. With a little stealth you could win just about every fight.

It's variant of one of the various Seals of Solomon from the Ars Theurgia Goetia likely connected with a specific Fallen (As far as I can tell it looks original, my Hermetic knowledge is not as adept as I would like). Extremely late again. I have not as of yet in a WoD game, largely because of the practical issues of being a parent in an active chronicle. Either you eat up precious time being a parent, or you're neglecting your kids. Also, I haven't played many older WoD characters.

Closest I've come was in VtM, my character, a Ventrue, had some serious unrequited maternal desires. It wasn't really at the forefront, if for no other reason than she didn't want to advertise anything that could be taken as weakness by other vampires. But she was looking into Dhampir whenever the opportunity arose. Found a very promising lead and that's where the side plot ended. If I ever reprise the character, I'd need to decide what to do with it. It's sort of the nature of a VtM character that until they meet Final Death, their story is never truly over.

Direct and personal responsibility is the only way to ensure adequate behavior of all involved actors.
Each and every shareholder is directly responsible for the wrongdoings of a corporation, committed in pursuit of ever greater profits.

Your average joe schmoe mortal blue collar carpenter who owns his practice probably has a LLC in order to limit collateral of his personal house and car.

Now, jane cogger and john glasswalker will probably incorporate but for different reasons. Jane doesn't want to hold the money and wants to keep it in her nonprofit, which has tax exemption status, and might be thinking of allowing the organization to exist even if she was assassinated by Pentex. Now John might be involved in a startup for turning atmospheric carbon into nanotubes, and may see selling parts of his company to investors for the seed money to hire the engineers and researchers needed.

Burgerland used to have very powerful trustbusting laws and they actually destroyed some of their biggest corpos with them, reason why the country become prosperous and cool in the first place. The existence of White Wolf itself is awed to these laws btw. But since the 80s corporations have become more powerful and trustbusting has not been used since then. Reason why Paradox defending this shit makes them even more evil and their fans pieces of shit.

So I've known Garou make normal people uneasy but I figured it would be just in moments of anger that they get on a daily basis. This paint a picture that they straight up jolt the fight or flight reflex by just existing too close.

Which leads me to the question, how the hell do they get anything done with people, how do they get laid ( consensually ). I figured Matlida was keeping to herself and smoking weed 24/7 to not blow her cover.

>how the hell do they get anything done with people, how do they get laid
Kinfolk, primarily, at least in older editions of the game that didn't retcon kinfolk out of existence. It wasn't all that crazy for Garou to fuck outside of the tribe but the people that get involved with them are often violent or a pariah anyway.

Mechanically speaking. Youre fine as long as your Willpower is higher than their Rage. If you have 4 Willpower and the Homid youre talking to has 5 rage, you feel uneasy in their presence. If you have a Willpower of 3 but their Rage is 2 then they dont ping as anything other than a fellow human.

I'd say that would be extreme, but your average person is crossing the street when they see a Garou, calling the police if they loiter too long, etc. Essentially, your average person sees the average Garou as a hobo, which isn't exactly too far off from the truth.

No, jesus taught PRUDENCE on when to apply mercy and when to apply violence. Jesus himself chose violence on multiple occasions and domenstrated how certain evils must be met with force(for a famous example, see: the money lenders in the temple).
Christianity proper isn't a passivist religion, but the modern pop-culture of christianity is an Eater-of-Souls flavor of wyrm corruption that shows the other extreme to the Leopoldites Beast-of-War flavored wyrm corruption.

To an extent. We're talking about a man that said it'd be better for someone to have a millstone tied around their neck and thrown into the sea than deceive trusting children. Also the guy who whipped people through the Temple twice. He told people to arm themselves, but rebuked Peter for being stupid with his weapon. Jesus was not a pacifist especially in regard to unrepentant liars, violators, or those who harm the innocent.

In my mind the Wyrm-Christ was not Christ at all, but rather a Bane that piggybacked on the Leopoldites' faith. Also the part at the end with the Leopoldite going to purgatory was a gag because in WoD there is no Hell, Heaven, or Purgatory.

Is this the quote about the cloaks? Yes, the mental and physical peace that a sheathed sword enforces without needing to be drawn. Peter's mistake was drawing a blade in defense of Christ who did not need nor want to be defended. If Jesus wished a legion of angels would appear to defend him. Peter's outburst was vain and unwise.

I'm the Anon he was replying to, but I think maybe we're having a semantic disagreement about what pacifism is. From a certain perspective it is absolutely fair to say that Jesus advocated for peace. Part of the reason His sacrifice happened is because the Pharisees and Zealots were constantly advocating for independence war against the Romans due to their insane view of the Law.

That being said, Jesus was not purely pacifist as a rule nor did He demand pure pacifism of those who follow Him. Ergo to say He was a pacifist outright is inaccurate. In his own words: "I came not to bring peace, but a sword."

Dreaming feels like it's drawing from slightly sanitized versions of fairy tales, while Lost feels like it's drawing from the older stuff. The thing with werewolf gifts is that some of the people who wrote the rank 5 and 6 gifts either didn't read the previous 4 ranks of gifts or didn't care, because some of them are way underpowered for the effort you have to get them. Like, one of the rank 5 (You're only supposed to have 1 of these, technically) Metis gifts requires that you roll Gnosis at diff 8, spend a Gnosis...and you receive ONE WHOLE extra success on all Dodge rolls for a scene. VS, the rank 2 Black Fury Touch of the Muse gift which lowers ALL SOCIAL rolls for the scene by simply rolling Gnosis. Or the rank 1 Trash is Treasure Bone Gnawer gift which allows you to break your own switched glock and you now have an automatic pistol with near infinite ammo which only you can use.

Don't ask me about Werewolf Fetishes, I don't have the nerd-brain for those yet.

Nah I'm fine with rank 6 being the max, because some of the rank 5 gifts are busted. It's really only a few particular rank 5 gifts I'm concerned with. A few of the rank 6 gifts are alright, but some of them are awful
>Becoming Uktena allows your character to commit suicide
>Sleep of the Hero can only be used when your character is going to die
>Firebringer not allowing the Ragabash to use the gift I can understand, but ALSO being weak to that specific power afterwards, not really.
>Home in All Lands requires Pure Breed 5
>Silver Fangs don't have a rank 6 gift involving silver or leadership, but instead a gift which targets undead, an expensive and risky one at that.

It's not actually going anywhere. I understand the frustration of a discontinued setting better than most I think, but the less they touch the things you like, the better it is off. Being sad over this is like being sad that nWoD's Changeling didn't have this either, or it not being in, I dunno, Age of Smegmar, or Forgotten Realms.
>>
>>98450075
Oh, it gets better.
>all changelings can spend 1 glamour to autoescape any mundane confinement including grapples
>contracts of spring can be used to manipulate desires including the seeding of desires in others according to the changeling's will
>there's a contract of crown, which fairest specialize in (and I assume the Verdant Queen was one) that makes any attempt at violence during a meeting autofail
In other words, she was never in any danger, she was the predator in this situation.
>>
>>98449864
Of course they can. Anyone can in theory adopt anything. A vampire can adopt a child too.

Doesn't make it a good idea.
>>
>>98450153
Yeah, that's the clear intention. Can't rape the unwilling, she used the Abbey as a glamour farm and happened to catch a simp as a bonus. Though as a minor quibble, that fluff was written well before Lost 2e came out, so the mechanics you gave wouldn't really apply.
>>
>>98450147
I'm aware that the actual content isn't getting deleted, but the worry of content having less appeal as it's actively discontinued is there and it becomes harder to find spaces for it or to spin it on friends to play. I know the books won't be going away, but I'm still saddened by the spaces with which to discuss the books with being reduced or overall just a lesser pull on culture. Sure, I know there's always going to be dedicated autists but the normie brain is a fickle thing
>>
>>98450173

Imagine raising up a child into your ideal pawn though, it's an investment at that point. You're going to have to solve the day-time problem though, likely with ghouls

Humans and wolves where never meant to have a non stop supply of supermagical meth linked up to their souls. Luna was just being the fuck up that she, the patron of madness, is. >Diablerie is skin-to-skin now
>What does this even mean?
You can be diablerized via touch. Honestly, it's kind of cool, as a vampire with black veins, kindred would be afraid of even touching you, or you trying to touch them. Think of how many friendly and/or reassuring gestures involve contact. Handshakes, high fives, hugging, sex, holding hands all of it suddenly carries the possibility of a sinister ulterior motive, especially if attempted somewhere private and intimate. This would leave a disblerist isolated and touch starved.

They need to be immobilised and at 1 Vitae/HP or lower though. So you'd know pretty quick if someone was there to eat you.

I read I think here that it's to do villainous monologues by keeping your mouth free. But you have to battle for the soul anyway, so just do the Assassin's Creed memory corridor thing.

The real bastard is that only a botch can result in you getting soul-snatched, and it's only after 3 frenzies that you lose yourself to the soul. Combined with Diablerie no longer being able to drop you down to dangerously low humanity, and granting you a boatload of XP, it's now less dangerous and mlre rewarding than ever.

Also the battle for the soul is rolled using Strength and Generation Rating, so big gym gainz help you overpower someone's conscience by mogging them I guess, but that's so hilarious I actually can't be mad.

Anon, summoning =/= destroying.
Yeah, some random bumfuck sorcerer can summon and theoretically bind luna, but he can kill her any more easily than any other bumfuck mortal can. Sorcerers are in the weird spot where they can bind gods as their personal sex-slaves, but can't actually harm them in any meaningful way.

It's kinda weird to have an all-or-nothing mechanic where spending a willpower point the moment a sorcerer casts binding on you negates the affect, but missing that window might mean being a slave forever.

I am the anon you're replying to, and yes you can disregard the first reply you got.
C20 makes it hyper clear that technology is not inherently banal. What is banal and what isn't depends exclusively on the Changeling, so you can get a Nocker or pretty much other other kind of Changeling really that absolutely loves tech. Even back in first ed you had Sluagh hackers and you have whole noble houses that have subfactions of hackers and inventors. You canonically had Sluaghs that worked for Nasa, so it's not just a Nocker thing.
Don't believe me? Check C20 player's guide, you'll see the Infusion Art which exists to interface with Nocker tech. Also what I believe to be one of the strongest arts that you get in CtD which is Tale-Craft.

First dot (modern sabbat)Koldunic Sorcery power in the way of Sorrows Frustratipns of Nestrecha". It doesn't allow any contested rolls or any supetnatural resistances. It's also first dot, so a fucking Ghoul could learn it, even if your ST chose to ignore that mortals can learn blood magic to 5 dots even without vitae.

>Im wondering why a Settite hasnt killed Helios yet.
Anon, that would require them surviving for at least one turn standing in the same room as the actual Sun Itself. Considering the statted incarnae can have willpower up to 25, I think it'll also take more than 1 turn to eat Helios with your maximum of 10 Being.

I'm going with "Ennoia as the wild wanderer can traverse the hidden places of the Earth (Umbra) and had hot lesbian sex with Luna". Her embraces are Gangrel, her children are the Fera. Just because being related to parasites would make the Garou mald.

Well Set is the one whos all butthurt about the sun but if youre gonna eat god-like creatures... this is where Cappadocius comes in. Anon, for fucks sake. Tremere can't use the mortal path of summoning, binding, and warding. It's not on the whitelist of paths for the blood runes merit. Trying to learn it from a thinblood inceptor also doesn't work, since thinbloods cap out at 4th dot and you can't raise out-of-clans without a teacher(diableria Does Not bypass this).
The tremere are forever unable to fuck Luna. That's their actual clan curse.

Anon, no they can't. You're getting the rules backwards. Blood Magic can be learned by Mortals, not the other way around.
In fact Vampires are so incompatoble with mortal sorcery that they're incapable of learning converted blood magic, despite blood magic still functioning the same when a mortal converts it into mortal sorcery.
>>
>>98451484
Donated blood is extensively tracked, but you could use your vampiric powers and connections to weasel your way into the industry and have people divert blood for you. The logistics are really the biggest obstacle.
Also there's a Thaumaturgy path that allows you to subsist off ash, but you have to have memorized a passage from the Book of Nod to cast the corresponding sorcery
>>
>>98451754
There's also a ritual that lets you dilute blood into a body of water and treat the water in it as blood. There's also one to make bloodwine, but it's not as useful.

turns out the way to fight changelings (before c20 at least) was to just go

I think anon was asking if there could be techno changelings in a similar way that Virtual Adepts are techno mages.
>>
>>98452015
how do virtual adepts not believe in ghosts but believe in cursed and haunted software like sonic.exe shit. how could you also not easily connect that to ghosts that haunt houses. it seems like you would have to accept both if you accept they can haunt software.
>>
>>98452036
it's even more weird because wraiths can only enter the digital web by ridding a technomage or if someone who goes there physically dies there (because again no connection to the shadowlands)
>>
>>98452015
>Ghosts, on the other hand, do, but only on the Web.
Imagine being a VA with the Medium merit.

wraiths that commit suicide due to cyber bullying should have a connection to the web, or gore videos of peoples deaths should have a connection to the shadowlands.
>>

sadly that only gives you a talent for embody. white wolf didn't wanted it to be easy for wraiths to get into the rest of the umbra

Pre-M20 Virtual Adepts don't really interact with anything but the Digital Web, so they struggle to believe in anything that they don't encounter on the Digital Web.

What if I force or bargain with a Demon to use the Lore of Portals and open a gate to the Lake of Fire so I can exploit it by putting a bit boiler there to heat water and make infinite energy.

Anon, No they Can't. Not "Sorcery" numina anyway. Hedge Magic is slightly broader than just Sorcery, but Sorcery is not something that can be convirted to Thaum.
>>
>>98452300
And when the Demon refuses to go up against the most bloodthirsty mortal lawyers the world has ever produced?
>>
i know this is a ...topic in wod but what actually are the demon population numbers in a city in dtf? like how big is a infernal court of a major city like new york, london or paris meant to be?
>>
>>98451744
You're confusing Sorcery with True Magic. Sorcery has routinely been converted to Blood Magic. It forms the entire basis for Necromancy and Thaumaturgy as used by Vampires.

I wonder whether they learned they lesson and will make Sabbat playable.
>>
>>98452375
city of angels gives every single demon in the city a write up seperated into major players (full stat block), minior players (faith, willpower, torment and lores) and bit players (write up with no stats) and not counting the earthbound and lucifer there are around 90 demons in that book with most of them being stated between pg 48 and 90
>>
>>98452461
already confirmed that all 3 sects will be playable, but to be honest i don't see how the sabbat will be fun with the current humanity system they have in the playtest

You're better off making your own blood bags.
Considering people can lose about 18% of their blood before they need medical attention, and the average person has like 5-6L of blood, we can assume each blood point is roughly 5-600ml of human blood since humans have 10 points. Conveniently, 500ml is the amount of blood a blood bag holds. So a blood bag is worth a single blood point.

Since you can donate blood roughly every 6 weeks, and we'll assume our Vampire needs 1BP a week (if they're active they should be hunting, after all), a Vampire would need 6 'donors' on rotation to get by at a minimum. Your vegan vamp, therefore, could survive perfectly fine on blood bags with a few dots of herd and the occasional trip to wherever it is you pick up weirdos willing to donate blood to a vampire in need. Your FLGS, probably.
>>
>>98452450
Manikin or Metalflesh?
>>
>>98452482
Thats not vegan. Thats just vegetarian. Vegan vamps dont feed in humans, vegetarians dont do violence. But if hes just after humanely sourced human blood, he should learn setite ritual "Seal Shut the Gates of Blood, & sell "fitness bracelets" or whatever that will give you maybe a blood point a day for a few days every month from every woman who wears one. Easy source of vitae as long as you make enough of them.
>>
>>98452490
Yeah those would work too. Just be creative with it.
>>
>>98452496
My CTL character is a former Elementary teacher who was turned into a decorative "Guard" in his Keeper's little castle.
Except they only see the Guard as not a living thing, but just a suit of armor that you never saw the face of. He spends his days trying to be a teacher to any Changelings who were too young to have any education.

Who gives a shit, it won't be the same Sabbat as in oWoD. The Sabbat should always be playable, but it shouldn't be a core choice, although ideally each sect (Camarilla, Sabbat, and then a unified one for Autarkis/Inconnu/Tal'mahe'Ra/Ashirra) should have its own book and a core book just cover fledglings/neonates dealing with the world they have been reborn into in a general sense.

Trying to squeeze everything into a single Core is a foolish thing unless you're deliberately building a unified rules tome like V20 did (and I still think the 20ths made a mistake with this, especially M20).

That's just the precautions of modern medicine. In reality a healthy young-ish person would probably be fine with 3-4 if they take iron supplements.
>we'll assume our Vampire needs 1 BP a week
A vampire needs 1 BP/day minimum, as that is what takes to rouse them from sleep every night. So we gotta pump those numbers up!

I'm perplexed by the new version of WtA discouraging eco tourism. In the eco tourism roleplay game.

And I recently saw a video talking about the general lack of eco tourism irl. Do they not get reported on in order to cut down on any kind of glorification? Or are people simply not doing it anymore? I remember it used to be a much more prevelant, but nowawadays it seems that the only thing I hear is either a protest or a study.
>>
>>98452744
Combination of trying to be more nuanced (lol) and retarded Corporations being afraid of saying anything possibly controversial. As for Ecotourism becoming less common, probably because people fucking hate it. Tie yourself to a road for Planet Earth, go on. Peoples general reaction will be "Hope somebody runs you over for making me take a detour."
>>
>>98452744
Anybody invested enough to do eco terrorism has read the climate reports and understands that we're ALREADY fucked, even if we cut emissions to 0 tomorrow (which we won't, obviously).
They lost, decisively. So they gave up.
>>
I'm reading through the /co/ H:tP thread and these guys don't have a clue how the setting works. They have just enough knowledge to be partially correct about everything, with huge misunderstandings. I'm beginning to see why people were annoyed by the bloodline secondarys.
>>
>>98452619
>>98452482
RAW, people replenish 1BP a day. You only need one person to feed your needs, even though that doesn't line up with real blood replenishment.

I am just so happy that there is a /co/ thread at all, so that that shit isn't here, because the mods refuse to do their job and are instead focused on banning people they disagree with. There's been entire enduring tv-show threads on /tg/ for years.

Thank you /co/cks for being there. I don't care how clueless you guys are, you're still real ones in my book.

Since we're on page 10, I did a small amount of editing to remove his tattoos, as a small thanks for all the baking you do.
Half a mind to cosplay bakeslave too. Seems a little attention-whorey though.
