>>98467107
Cause it's a whole lot of cool miniatures for a decent price. Not like any of the battalions actually give you a playable army, it's mostly a bunch of core filler. Which is important in its own right. The Empire one is on the better end as well, you basically just need some characters and artillery, plus knights possibly, and you're kind of set.

It's so shameful how Warhammer has turned into FOMO shit. Seriously, it wasnt like this in the old days. The saddest part is how new players genuinely think it's normal and don't know any better. The can't comprehend what the problem is, in fact they even mock you when you sing of days of glory
>>
Yo I know 2k is the "normal" list arbitrated because 40k fags do it, and yes I know battle march can be very fun getting into it.
But from genuine experiance what is a good point value that (you) like to play
something that doesnt take all day, yet lets you take some fun toys and feels like a grand battle
>>
>>98467168
Thanks. I was holding off on it because I want to finish my current project first, but I noticed it was sold out basically everywhere except this one small local store. And 2 out of their remaining 3 boxes were sold earlier this week while I was trying to decide if I should go for it.
Now to decide who these guys are and where they're from. Nuln, Stirland and Marienburg are sadly overrepresented where I'm from, even though I love them as well.
>>
>>98467200
It's not really FOMO when the battalion were around for 2 years. It's just that they are better deals mostly than the Battle Marches. Nothing more or less.
>>

How's TOW? Ever since 11th edition of 40k was revealed I lost every drop of motivation to keep working on my first army.
>>
>>98467470
Probably the best overall edition of Fantasy all things considered. The main complaint was the simplified magic system, which is being massively beefed up with this latest journal. If you played any edition of Fantasy from 6th onwards, you will find it very familiar. It's basically 9th edition/a best of edition.
>>
>>98467473
Why do guys who has only ever played TOW post shit like this?
>>
>>98467479
I started in 6th actually. And you have no models and you play no games.
>>
>>98467470
It's really good. Like the other guy said it's basically just 9th edition. A bit more complex in terms of the core rules for the most part. If you're coming from 40k, the core rules are far more dense/there is more to learn. But once you learn the core rules you know 90% of the game. There is no such thing as stratagems and every unit having a special ability like in 40k. There is also a lot more customization, you can build characters/units in a granular manner.
>>
>>98467470
It’s an anomaly in the modern Games Workshop space. It’s a game that plays like their games did 10-25 years ago. It’s infused with tons of roleplay like flavor and has very little gamey abstraction that forms the core of the modern 40k/AoS experience. It’s fundamentally a different game with a different philosophy that doesn’t exist outside of TOW.
>>
>>98467473
Nice. I was talking to a guy at the lgs and apparently there's around four people there getting into it, so unless my first game of 40k when I actually finish my dudes knocks me off my feet I'll probably look at collecting warriors or cathay instead of 40k eldar.
>>98467484
I haven't played any 40k games myself, I'm basically just a paint project autist. The reveal for 11th and it seemingly not changing much just really deflated me.
Thanks for actually discussing what it'd be like for a complete newfag.
>>
>>98467504
Good luck anon, definitely try to get a game of TOW in when you can. It's a lot of fun and feels more like a wargame, if you play 40k you'll know what I mean probably when I say it feels less like a wargame and more like a game.

Printing the 750 list now, pic related are a few models I used for ghost archipeligo which inspired me to make avalorn again. they are the basis of what my elves will look like and the many of the ones in the pic will be rebased on squares.

28mm puts their skeletons at an identical size to the 7th edition ones, and their Sunland spearmen at an identical size to the 6th edition empire spearmen and 7th edition wizards kit. (When I say identical, I mean their eyeline is identical down to the mm, I measured them with digital calipers)
So I'd imagine 28mm is best for Gallia too.

Actually pretty impressed. I'd prefer the dice pools to be generated at the start of each turn but that's a nitpick compared to what we actually got from this AJ. Will be using the dice pool and the miscast table, and maybe the magic ploys, but I feel like that starts to verge on rules bloat and game-momentum-breaking gotchas, a bit like stratagems were.
I have a half painted chaos army and will be using the gifts table. Might paint up some beastmen eventually too. I have a bunch of hooded cultists that I've been using as marauders, I see no reason to start using them as cultists really, it's nice to have the option but it's not thematically distinct enough for me to want to use a whole new unit profile for them.

Hi, Cathay player. I got into old world because of my friend a year ago any I preorded everything.
Anyways you see Cathay on tourney results and it makes you oooh so mad, sooo angry, sooo maaaad! How dare a faction be really good!
Would you like to know my faction's weakness? It's many a fold.
a) we have nothing that can fully get through 2+ armor save 6 on crane gun shots
b) wow, are infanry can be pretty defensive! -2 from lances and flails makes it a 5+, aka near worthless. And we can only swing swords + shields, we cannot be creative and do halberd swaps.
Do you need more? Just ask. It's funny, Cathay is actually garbage. Complete shitty. 2 melee units 3-ish ranged units but lanterns make both foot groups poor, amazing artillery, and a poor behe. Now what?

The empire battalion is pretty good. You get a big brick of state troops (can convert some missiles to halberdiers very easily).

I built 30 swordmen, 10 halberdiers (I put them in the front ranks if I want to run halbers instead of hw+s) 10 handgunners and 10 crossbows and of course the most kino piece of them all, the steam tank.

Played a 500 point Battle March game against some stunties! We used the new scenario in the BM book with the bridge and river. It was bloody.

After running amock on another raiding party in the Mountains, Snagrog sought a safe passage back to the tribes main base of operations. The plunder had been great. The wolf riders had found a bridge which they noted would cut the travel time down by almost four days.

However, upon arriving at the location, a band of Dwarfs had caught the Orcs unaware. Snagrog's lads were unprepared, sullen and lazy after meeting little opposition during the plundering and quickly formed battle lines in haste.

The Dwarfs had come from a local Karak, seeking revenge from a previous encounter with Snagrog. So it was, battle was joined!

A Dwarf slayer, selected as champion for the Dwarfs, roared a challenge at the bridge. Grimtoof, the Beleagured Black Orc, guffawed but despite his size and strength, dismissed the challenge but was fearful inwardly of being cut down.

Boss Borzag of the Big uns stepped forward and thus, began the battle.

Boss Borzag and the slayer exchanged many blows and though it looked like the Orc would take the day, Snagrog saw the Stunty quickly parry and repost, dealing a fatal strike to Borzag, toppling his body into the ford.

He grunted, disappointed he woukdn't get a chajce to fight Borzag himself. "GET EM LADZ!"

The orcs surged forward, Snagrog's big uns marching on the bridge. The Slayers met them and the fighting was ferocious. Snagrog called a challenge and a scarred stunty pushed forward to meet them. Snagrog swung overhead, hoping to slay the stunty quickly. It ducked, and with great skill, struck Snagrog in between his armour plates, dealing a terrible wound.

Snagrog wailed in pain, but quickly recovered and with a second swing, cut the stunty in two. Despite taking terrible casualties, the Slayers held.

Another Slayer stepped forward to meet Snagrog, but this time the Orc was too slow. Once more a flurry of blows were thrown and once more another deadly blow landed. Snagrog plummeted from the bridge into the ford, leaving his army to fight alone!

A great cheer erupted from the Dwarfs, as they surged forward, the Dwarf Thane and Longbeards charging into the big uns.

NTA but I don't believe you. I've never met, nor previously ever seen or heard anyone who played 6th describe TOW as the best Warhammer edition. Some of the 8thfags will go that far because TOW moderates the worst excesses of 8th without fully RETVRNing to the superior 6th which many of them really dislike, but people who got off the paypig carousel before 8th play TOW grudgingly if at all.

Grimtoof watched as Snagrog plummeted into the river, his giant green body being washed away. With Borzag and Snagrog gone, maybe he could be boss! Even Grotfang Crazyboar had gotten shot up by the stunty guns. That is, only if he could get his boyz out of the river.

Grimtoof's boyz had struggled as soon as he bullied them into the river but unfortunately, a few had already been washed away!

Through the rushing water and brutal waves, Grimtoof watched the Big uns flee from the Stunties, high tailing it faster than a gobbo being chased by a squig.

"Push! PUSH THROUGH IT!"

Another Orc went rushing down the river screaming. After a valiant effort, asmuch as orc could, what few boyz remained careened into the Dwarfs, with the remaining arrer boyz fighting at the front.

Grimtoof shoved his way to the Stunty boss. A flurry of Choppa swings and gutteral roars was met with stoic silence. No blow had landed. Through the press of battle and cries of the wounded, the Dwarf cut down Grimtoof.

All that was left was the few fleeing boyz who continued to be washed away by the river and the rallied big uns.

The Stunties took the day but the Orcs will be back!!

>>98468059
Too bloody right! However, I am doing a mini kitbash of a Warboss with a choppa and shield. Grimtoof may have another prospective rival of power to come up.

Also, this may sound odd, but is it possible for Black Orcs to reject other Black Orcs in a tribe? Was going to have, potentially, Grimtoof being refused to join his black orc buddies as they think he's too soft, hanging round the regular orcs too much.

Always fun to kitbash and make a custom character. I do not think it sounds odd either, while Black Orcs are their own subspecies of Orc, they tend to be very conservative and focused on the art of "proper" war, in their own views. A Black Orc who acts like one of the Boyz could be seen as un-Black Orcy and shunned or krumped. Maybe stripped of his trademark load of choppas and armor and cast out until he becomes a proper Black Orc?

Really liked The Sundering, which someone will be upset about because it's written by Thorpe. Terrible Eldar-writer, but this one was enjoyable for many reasons. It's also a very important part of the high elf (and dark elf) history. Some shit here is genuinely cool.
By comparison, I found the Tyrion and Teclis trilogy by William King dreadfully boring and amateurish. But everyone loves him because he's the Gotrek and Felix guy.

Tank is a great model to build and paint. Just keep it in as many parts as possible during the process (pic related). I have no idea how it works in ToW but in 6th it's a blast to have a miniature which works like something from other system entirely (still I don't plan to run it in each 2k+ game, seems stronger than most centerpieces - written by non-competetive player)

black base rims give a clean boarder and help define the models base.

Brown base rims help the base blend into most natural boards. Makes the model look like they are standing on elevated earth

Both have valid if opposite reasoning

Grimtoof had a rough life

>tribe gets duffed up by Snagrog
>sole survivor, assumed dead
>tracks and finds Snagrog's tribe
>sneaks in
>Snagrog is gormless, thinks he looks strong and makes in charge of a bunch of the ladz
>stuck with regular Orcs as their boss
>plans to sneak in some black orcs and eventually take over the tribe

There will be some black orcs over the horizon. But if he ends up leading them may be another matter.

>>
>>98467202
750-1250 has been my sweet spot. Above this is when you start getting big boy units that may just not take damage from anything but a kamehameha wave.
Also this size keeps most of the tables I play on from getting really overcrowded.
>>
>>98469097
For sub assembly painting you mean? Yeah, seems like a good idea.
I'm really looking forward to painting my empire guys in general, but as an O&G player it's a bit intimidating. Greenskins are kind of easy because they don't have to all look the same, and you can get pretty sloppy with their skin or equipment without it looking bad at all. Painting actual uniforms that look clean and nice will be interesting. The steam tank too, I haven't painted anything with such large smooth surfaces yet.
>>
>>98469097
I'd almost always take a steam tank to 2k games because it's the only thing I had that could kill or tie up other centerpiece models. Steam powered and armored treads menas this thing can close in with mosnters and at the very least bloody them over the course of 3 or so turns. If the dice are good it will just run over opposing monster units.

well compared to 8th edition where two units would ram eachother. one or two would be removed and then one gets totally destroyed it feels kinda nice
>>
>>98467202
500-1k is my preferred so far. Played 1500 with a TERRIBLY squashed list (squeezing every point in upgrades and making heroes overequipped with tiny model count) and got wasted. But hope my next one goes smoother.

>>
>>98469512
>Made me hate Dwarfs with a passion.
Me, the skaven, the orc and the high elf welcome you to our club
>>
>>98469554
Honestly, it just made the Dwarfs come off as hyper autistic, self-destructive, spiteful to the max assholes. All the talk of common sense and ancestral knowledge ignored for the sake of either trying to end or cause a grudge. The last line of the book was the final nail in the coffin for me. The King makes a comment that even if a grudge kills him, it is ok because his heir will be forced to see it fulfilled. Paraphrasing somewhat, as I do not want to grab my copy of the book from the garage storage. Dwarven culture is fascinating and they have some interesting tidbits and PoV stuff in Grudgebearer, but it still ends up showing them as gold obsessed, "honor" obsessed, long lived and spiteful over even the most irrelevant things they thing might stain their supposed honor. The battles against the Goblins and Skaven are very well written at least.

The only thing noteworthy about about this paint scheme is that I only used my darkest brown and an "iraqi sand" color which is dark beige and the models turned out kind of green.

So you don't like the book because it faithfully depicts the culture and mentality of the dwarfs? Thrope's brief foray into dwarf writing is literally the only thing of value he ever produced at BL.

Also >>98468109, the reason everyone loves Bill King is because he's as good an author as Proud Stepdad Thorpe is a shitty ideologically motivated boring one. I know this place tries to condition people to believe that being the outlier means you've grasped some deep underlying truth that others have missed, but the reality is much more often that if everyone else hates/likes something that you like/hate, you just have shit taste.
>>
>>98470136
>the reality is much more often that if everyone else hates/likes something that you like/hate, you just have shit taste.
That is almost never the case actually
>>
>>98470136
>faithfully depicts the culture and mentality of the dwarfs
Breh it's literally just one battle report after another with very little actual insights into dwarf culture.
>>
>>98470136
I like the idea of conservative, hard working, family and hold oriented dwarfs. They are a race of long lived, (generally) wise due to their years and slowly fading beings. They have a unique culture and beliefs, they are human at times but also incredibly alien as well. What I dislike is how even the slightest potential issue leads to a grudge being called and suddenly the Dwarf holds are going into grudge-war after grudge-war, or threatening to kill hundreds or even thousands of innocents while going "Well I am King and despite being out of my kingdom, on your human home if you do not do what I say I will butcher you and make you enemies forever of the Dwarf people!" They feel schizophrenic, either noble survivors or angry Boomers who are channeling the Karen ancestors in that everything has to be their way or they will destroy everything. I will not begrudge others for liking the Dwarfs in Warhammer, but after Grudgebearer, Grudgelore and a few short stories and whatnot, my interest and appreciation of them has faded. But that is my personal opinion and everyone is welcome to their own.
>>
Man dwaves just have shitty lore along with the expectations people want from them.

>>98470255
That is very possible. I also was an early adopter of AoS. Fyreslayers and Kharadron armies, rebased a bunch of my WHFB stuff for Cities/Dispossessed/Ironweld. Ended up falling away from both games as the lore and narrative made KO turn from flying capitalists to absolute backstabbing, "It is ok to screw over non-Duradin if you make money" greedy bastards that ever the Skaven would disapprove of. Fyreslayers did not get flanderized that badly, but they always were the mercenary dwarf army who would fight for any chance of Ur Gold.

2-3k. Small games you rarely have chaff or mosspits that take several turns to fight out as the unit sizes are small. Its more swingy as well especially for magic hence I prefer larger points limits. 4k upwards being the best. My group restricts the amount of wizard levels and you can only bring a dragon if the game is big and/or the other player also has one as why the fuck would a dragon or a high end wizard turn up for a shitty skirmish?
>>
>>98470808
Competitive fags can fuck off to 40k and AgeofShit
>>
>>98467414
Youre forcing a reroll that will most likely roll another hit anyway. And thats in melee, you want to fucking WoC over with other stuff and its still shite for its points as it has no other effects. Its really not comparable to +1T at all. When it was -1 to hit in previous editions sure but not at a reroll 6s. MoS is the only good mark upgrade and I say that as a Khornefag.
>>
>>98471452
What is the use case for the mark of Slaanesh, besides the very brief time when great weapon chaos warriors with I5 on the charge were considered as an OK option in very specific scenarios? Acquiescence is kinda alright too, but it has such a short range that having a sorcerer cast it would put him in immense danger.
>>
>>98471494
The +1 to initiative makes a difference defensively on the odd situation where you arent the one charging and makes it worth it for great weapons at I5 as thats still "good" especially combined with furious charge. Acquiescence is good in wider moshpits or to dissuade a different unit from charging your own. These are highly niche and finicky but they have actual usecases and always work. MoN is heavily dependant on luck for it to have any effect. MoT is far too niche to spam it, and MoK is crap with the new frenzy rule. MoS is still overcosted at 2ppm and arguably not worth it. But out of the 4 its the only one that isnt total dogshit (or really niche in MoT's case) it at least has an immediate noticeable effect. And thats ignoring the panic immunity though such tests would rarely fuck over chaos to begin with.
>>
>>98471554

>>
>>98467643
> Round bases
Lmao.
Lmao.
>>
>>98471586
I also just remembered that you could also use the MoS to fuck over units charging you with great weapons as you hit before them due to I5. This also applies to your great weapon unit as you can chose to simply use handweapons for a turn should they wish since they added the weapon swap rule in with 1.5. Sure they could simply use hand weapons also but you most likely have better armour etc.
>>
>>98467743
> Nothing to get through 2+ armor
Besides a common magic item that allows no saves, cannons, shug lords with some of the most powerful magic weapons in the game. That's as much as MANY armies get. So this isn't a whine
> Infantry so defensive!!!
Your infantry are cheap, either WS4 or fucking WS5, with a free armor reroll. You are cheaper dwarfs. And yeah, you stupid fag, 5+ RE ROLLING ONES against fucking lances (who will get what, 6 attacks? Hitting on 4s, rounding on 2s, and you save one, maybe two because of the reroll, and then you either stubborn, which you easily get, lose by one or two, and you have elf like leadership, or they don't have First Charge and you win on static res). You infantry are fine, absolutely fine, for what you want them to do. Lanterns remain overpowered, sentinels would be an auto take in any other army, your TWO unique lores are good, and your lore access is excellent (High Magic wtf), your artillery is incredible, the ONLY sub standard thing in Cathay is your cav, and once you get fucking pegasus knights aka Longmas, your cav will be fine.
Your army is absolutely fine, you can have a good game even WITHOUT min maxing like a sweat lord.
So shut the fuck up, a LOT of armies don't get to be that lucky

> small games of 500-750 pts
They really force you to think about list building and lets different units shine (especially if you want to bring a fun list)
or
> massive games of 7000 and up points
Seeing so many units on the table and being able to take one or more of each choice in the book makes for really thematic games; but it does take a lot of time and a lot of space.

So, looking at the Chaos Dragon sprue, I would guess the Chaos Lord and Sorcerer will be reused at some point, likely in an updated manticore model, since they come on a separate sprue compared to the rest of the Chaos Dragon
>>
>>98473224
I hope the fuck not, if they really have to redo the manticore I expect a different set of riders

Or the dragon can get sold with a different sprue for a different rider, or with a different sprue that has mutations for the dragon instead of a rider.

>>
>>98473482
In that case will show my top 3..

Highlands miniatures: very solid designs across the range, the range covers the entire army list (including rarities like slayer pirates and imperial dwarfs), they print really well, easy to paint, not ridiculously priced but not cheap either, and because they're so popular they're all over the high seas if that's your thing
>>
>>98473606
>the Marcher Fortress
Isn't that traditionally a Slannesh location?
>>
File: clan-warriors-components.jpg (575 KB, 3002x1280)

>>98473482
Durgin paint forge: closest to WH in design imo, the entire army list is covered, almost all the files across the range are fully modular with each other (including heroes which means you can make some truly unique characters), easy to paint, lots of character, the only thing I don't like is the designer gives some of the dwarfs tweedly mustaches. Mostly print excellent but a handful of files need the meshes fixing first. Definitely not cheap but the creator has discount bundles. Never seen these on the high seas.
>>
>>98473691
If it is, what of it? Asavar Kul is a champion of Chaos Undivided. He goes where he pleases.
>>
File: Norse-Dwarf-Clans-19.jpg (136 KB, 680x680)
136 KB JPG
>>98473482
Varus miniatures: these are 10mm but imo scale up very well to 28mm. Really characterful designs and because they're supposed to be 10mm they're nice and simple, they feel quite old school. Not modular but loads of poses and enough variety to cover almost all weapon options and a variety of banners and musicians. The range covers most of the army book, I think just quarrellers are missing, but he has rangers with crossbows and regular archers. He's working on miners right now but taking his sweet time in providing updates to the Kickstarter backers. The models print well, easy to paint, but are expensive to buy the full range and you can't buy individual units. He offered his full range as a discounted add-on with his recent Kickstarter, but it's been 4 months since payments were taken and he still hasn't sent the add-on files to backers. They're tucked away on the high seas but not easy to find.
>>
>>98473691
>>98473720
Also, in line with the studio's stated intent of portraying Chaos as more nebulous in TOW than its more clearly defined characterization in WHFB, none of the gods are specifically named in relation to the famous landmarks in the book.

Sure, it's kinda cute that you can use them in a variety of ways, but re-rolling one of your randomly generated spells, functionally replacing power/dispel scrolls, letting you un-fuck a fucked but not too fucked spell, and increasing the range of a single spell just fucking sucks. It's still the same awful 2d6+whatever magic system casting the same lame spells from the same horribly unbalanced, lopsided, and uninteresting spell lores. I understand that the animals who came from 40k or AoS are used to magic being inconceivably more boring, but for fuck's sake, this is WHFB, magic has no excuse to be this uninteresting.
The ploys are fine. They'd be much more welcome if the underlying magic rules weren't trash, but, from what little I've seen of them, they're acceptable.
I have nothing nice to say about the ruses that have been shown.
At least the new miscast table has some teeth. Real shame you're still only going to see it once every 50 casts thanks to this 2d6 to cast crap. It's funny, really. TOW's narrative (a loathsome concept, I know) is set before the imperial colleges of magic were established, so you'd think the wind-mixing, hedge-humping, degen wizards walking around casting like it's nobody's business would be miscasting more, not less, often than their descendants. Go figure.
I cannot overstate how much I hate magic in TOW. The magic phase used to be my favourite phase. My first go at collecting my Chaos army was entirely guided by a desire to dominate the magic phase. Now, the very notion of bringing a level 4 daemonologist makes me physically ill. Oh, I wonder what my great sorcerer will do this game! The same things he did last game, and the one before that, and the one before that too, all with 2 god damn dice for every spell, and all because some idiots complained about magic in 8th! Whoopee!

Do you think Dwarfs will get some cheaper minor runes for Battle March to compete with BM cheap magical items, or are the existing runes already cheap and effective enough?
>>
>>98476104
WHFB since 6th, Warmachine, Hordes, Mordheim, Warmaster, Heavy Gear, 40k (only til 8th), OPR, Kill Team, Starwars Legion & Armada, and X-Wing.
I appreciate what the Starwars games were trying to do, but they just suck. Mordheim is fun if you don't play with assholes.
>>
Heavily considering the Hordes of Chaos army because I have some Minotaur models that I absolutely love. What’s the best way to kit them out?
>>
>>98476209
Exchange them for dragon ogres

I don’t trust anyone saying mordheim is fun.

HW+S. They end up with like 4+ armor in melee while being S5 Ap2 at initiative.

You're essentially asking if GW is going to release an entirely separate battle march book for each army.
No. No, I don't think they're going to do that.
>>
>>98476242
Sorry, I haven't played that game you made with your 2 buddies in highschool that no one has ever heard of.
>>98476226
Even if i only played 1 game of each of those systems, thats 14 more games than you've played.

unfortunately they are "narrative" meaning most opponents will deny you the use of them. Aka Gw has once again given us a journal you can rip out everything but two pages.

Ok I was being sarcastic, the real reason is that everyone have their own lives and only occasionally have time to play and generally dont want to spend a lot of time on figuring out a narrative system that is balanced for all parties

Just did that mission yesterday; I mass my troops at the defensive stakes, poor Chaos didn't stood a chance.
Model wise I just recieved the Griffon Standard metal model off ebay for 35$
>>
>>98476792
Very nice. Sadly not my screenshot, just made it to Chapter 3 and it is a delightful game. I played a ripped copy long ago and later bought it for the 360, but it was nigh unplayable despite being a controller whiz. I am actually trying to find where the damn screenshots are stored. Great find on that Griffon Standard, especially for that price!
>>
>>98476800
Thanks
Chapter 3's great in terms of story bit, Brother Gunther's a great character, hell the whole story's great, the gameplay a bit repetitive to some, but the game got the setting, tone and characters perfectly.
>>
>>98476816
Gunther is great, I agree. Chapter 3 has been great so far, the early optional mission let me make great use of my pistoliers and handgunners, which was a bonus. I really liked going into the crypt to recover the sword and fight the vampire as well. Felt a bit like playing a tabletop RPG with micro managing my heroes and going against skeletal units.
>>
>>98476849
That, and the duels also make it more than just a 'wargame', more like a 'complete experience' so to speak.

Loved the pistoliers, I played the Knights Panthers before, but they died easy without support. They need micro management a bit to get wiped, but their pistols are pretty great
>>
>>98476871
The duels are something I wish more RTS games had. They are so incredibly satisfying, especially when you level and build a character into being a duelist.

Pistoliers really come off as young nobles, their cocky and confident voice lines are fun and they can cause significant damage to all but the heaviest troops. I swear by them because they do everything from harrying enemy troops to intercepting enemies attacking blind spots and strange angles. Also guns.

Oh yeah the voice acting is top nothc. Gunther's line 'Even Sigmar could not fly!' is a classic
Don't make the Elf Commander a Duelist thought, I used him a few times like that, he wasn't even able to beat a Skaven warlord, despite being level 25. Aurelion's actually better at that, alongside Stefan/Captain (Gunther is meh, the WP's options are not that good duel wise according to me).
Even the Dwarf Lord is a tough nut ot crack in Battle March Extension, I did the first mission3-4 times until I abandonned duelling him and just shot/grind him with my troops
>>
>>98476915
Hearing that line and the frustration in how it was delivered managed to get a hearty laugh out of me. I have skipped duelist skills on everyone and mostly get by through sheer use of cannons and handgunners to blast enemy heroes at range, or Stefan having something like 8-10 Hero armor and 3-4 magic armor and just winning via attrition. Really tempted to boot the game back up now. It really holds up so well and just oozes charm and that WHFB sense of magic and wonder.

Old Realm Forge because they make actual proper WHF Dwarfs which are supposed to be a different fucking species not just short human dudes in WoW LARP costumes like most modern dwarf minis(sadly, including GW's own). Their crossbowmen are a bit of a miss with the silly helmets but almost everything else is brilliant.

I don't think the multiplayer works anymore, sad, because it was a ok way to play some WFB via computer. Granted not all armies were there, but there was enough for alot fo people to find something they'd like

Nope, only PvP via LAN, so back to LAN parties I guess.

Maybe he likes to actually play games instead of buying an overpriced kickstarter rulebook made by a bunch of fags & troons so he can smugly posture on instagram about what a niche and refined and elevated wargaming palette he has for headpats from dozens of other homosexuals who don't actually play games.
>>
>>98476951
Pity that. I have some good memories of 6v6 or 8v8 Dawn of War 1 games with Anons. Lots of laughs and fun were had. At least it adds another reason to get a LAN party going.

I'm not an empire player but they're not bad. The problem is that cav isn't the most efficient way to spend points but it's not like they're useless in casual play, it's still decent heavy cav. I think it's worth having one unit to play as regular knights in core or inner circle knights in special for fun.
