FW1 was really, really bad, but it was a 'classic' FPS rather than a corposlop FPS. Fire Warrior 2 would be much closer to early 2000s FPSes before they all got the SOVL streamlined out of them by CoD and Halo clones. Ideally, Quake 3/4 style, or Unreal 2.

Hello
My local game shop was having a beginner event recently where they loaned models to use for a few newbie v newbie matches and I chose to use the imperial knights. It was 500 point games and I had 3 armigers and an assassin. I played against space marines, space marines and then ork and won all 3

I was told by the owner (in a friendly way I think) that if I chose to buy a box of armigers and play future games then I would need to tell people in advance that I am playing imperial knights so that they can prepare

I really liked it but is that actually typically whats expected of this particular army?
>>
>>98480935
Well I don't know which would align with the Necrons and Tyranids if that's what you're asking.
>>
>>98480940
It's just that imperial knights are a skewed army of nothing but super heavy vehicles. So if someone doesn't have enough anti vehicle tech in their list then it's a one sided stomp. Conversely if they know in advance then they can stomp you. I don't understand why they get their own army rules and aren't just an ally you can bring in other imperial armies.
>>
>>98480940
Yeah. It's a low model count skew army, AKA basically a stat check against your opponent on whether or not they took enough anti-tank, which in addition to the low model count means that they aren't particularly fun to face for most people. But most people will be willing to fight them, it's just nice to let people know in advance so they can know what they're up against and prepare.

I play nids because they're just big bugs and running them forward mindlessly is fun. Everyone loves mowing down waves of bugs so they're fun for everyone. I make monster sounds when the trygon pops up out of the ground.

I play eldar because they have cool tanks and cool guns and I tend to like elves in whatever stuff. I like fireprisms a lot. I have a couple dinosaur models with the body of wave serpents glued on the back lol so the new exodite stuff is exciting.

My first army and my favorite army is sob. Also the best painted. They're super cool and I love cool chicks in cool armor in most things. I love their tanks especially the exorcist.

Then last but not least, since eldar and sob are both kind of punching bags in both lore and tabletop, I also play marines so I can be gw's favorite child sometimes too and get to have an army that is both easy and strong at all times. I don't play them much but several times people have borrowed them for events so they're good to have. They're painted bog standard ultrasmurfs.

If I were to ever collect a 5th army, it would definitely be guard. Rogal Dorns are cool and I like normal human factions in stuff. I'm often tempted to do it, but it would be storage space irresponsible.
>>
>>98480960
Because I want the world to know that I don't believe knights should be a real army and they should just be a unit that any imperial army can take. Same for chaos knights. An entire army of super heavies is RETARDED.

What is Chaos Undivided really like? Reason I ask is because I am putting together a homebrew faction that would probably be undivided but the idea is that they usually the strengths of those each chaos god strategically I guess. So if you know its going to get hot and heavy in melee, maybe you bring the Khorne worhsipping marines etc. I was also playing around with the idea of a CSM equivalent to sort of how the Deathwatch work. Where it is a group of elite chaos space marines from differing chaos god factions. So from a lore perspective, what does being "Chaos Undivided" really mean?

Knights are a total coinflip. If your opponent doesn't have enough anti-tank or you take theirs out early, you steamroll them. If your opponent has too much anti-tank then you get steamrolled. While 3 Armigers and an Assassins is technically ~500 points, it's still way too much for a 500 point game since most armies won't have enough to fight back with. You know how every other army has a Combat Patrol with ~400-500 points? The Imperial Knights "Combat Patrol" list is just a single box of 2 Armigers that plays a completely separate area control game (No idea how this works with 11th edition rules).

If what you liked in Knights is the "Wow cool Robot" aspect you might wanna try Tau. The Combat Patrol + a squad of 3 Battlesuits for the Commander to lead is ~ 500 points depending on the loadouts you choose and is ~$200 in terms of models.

Why do people play full scale 40k? You bring all these units to a sweat shop, set it up on the board, get shot off the board and thats it. I would say Kill Team is superior because its smaller transport and the turn setup is a bit less ass than full scale 40k. AND you have to paint fewer models for kill team and can convert more etc. Full scale 40k seems like aids the more I think about it.

A lot of autocad designed sloppa has totally random points where the mold is cut or whatever so when you're assembling shit you might have to find part 98 because part 97 is an arm that's missing the fucking thumb of the hand that is also weirdly attached to the pistol, except then part of the pistol will be part 101 and you have to hunt around the spure to find these tiny ass cut up bits instead of just

Best you can do is make a thematic layout that you and your opponent agree on. It's not easy to balance an asymmetrical map, so just try to balance the sizes of terrain across the board so that you don't end up with a map where, for example, you have an impenetrable fortress in the corner.

In writing, some just can't help themselves. A good number of female characters have striking resemblances to their female writers.
I might unconsciously write a character who might happen to be a self insert. But I hope I'll have the sense to not go too far or kill the character if it becomes the case.

The most obvious example is someone unsubtly making a miniature of themselves for the commander of their army. Less obvious forms of it include getting irrationally angry at other people for insulting their army, or irrationally angry when they lose. Or they feel the need to brag about lore IE "did you know the Necrons can easily beat every other faction combined if they wake up enough?" or "As soon as Dorn returns, the Imperium wins the whole setting low diff"

That can work but it all comes down to communication between you and your opponent. If the model is homebrew in the sense with it's own stats then you need to let your opponent also play homebrew too if he has any. I think this maximizes the chances of allowed homebrew units.
Also both of you need to show the homebrew stats and settle on them.

And the Imperium only devotes (if you can call it that) a tiny fraction of those scions to fighting the Tau. The Tau don't have the same big picture view of the galaxy the Imperium's upper echelons (kind of) do. It's not some war of attrition. Why the fuck would they make super elite delta force tau when they can just train their more experienced troops to pilot battlesuits/stealth suits which are basically big infantry anyways to go on the same missions scions do? And pathfinders fill the scout shit that scions sometimes do (but regular guard regiments can also do). Tau have special forces, they're just not structured the same or as such like the Imperium does with scions.

>>98481406
How do you tell whether a sector/system/planet is actually important though? Like some are obvious, Cadia is important because it was the only way to stop chaos from ripping the galaxy a new asshole, Armageddon is important because it's the final line of defense before the Orks are besieging Terra itself, Terra and Mars are both important because the Astronomicon and Void Dragon are there...

...but Maccrage and Baal doesn't seem that important outside of having sentimental value to two of the most popular Space Marine chapters. Likewise, your typical forge world or hive world really doesn't matter that much, the Imperium can always just make more.

Two ways.
First way is to examine how strategically critical a battle is to the Imperium. If it involves galactic choke points, magic plot mcguffins etc then its kind of important.
Second way is to examine the armed forces that the Imperium uses. If the Imperium lets a world stand on its own without any major reinforcements, they're willing to let it die. If you see a dozen custodes appear on the field then the Imperium is shitting its pants and cannot afford to lose that battle.
>>
>>98481437
Would it be safe to say that, for all intents and purpose, the amount of Guardsmen involved in a battle doesn't actually matter for determining importance, and only the amount of Space Marines and Custodes involved should be the metric used?

>How to free oneself from being perceived as cringe then?
Don't be a faggot, it's pretty simple.
>Especially when homebrewing 40k stuff.
The key thing to remember is not to be overbearing with it. A lot of people will not give a single fuck about your epic homebrew lore because they're just there to move plastic and roll dice, and that's perfectly fine. Don't try to force your epic army backstory on people, but feel free to bring it up if it comes up or you've found a more narrative focused group.

As for actual homebrewing advice, I usually try to stick with only 1-3 deviations from "standard" lore. If your space marine chapter is descended from a lost primarch, dont also make them best buds with the inquisition AND receiving special equipment from the admech, for example. Also you should give them some drawbacks to balance out their merits. If your ork warboss is some flavor of oddboy, then maybe he doesn't have enough support to get a proper WAAAAGH going and instead is more of a pirate raider or mercenary for hire to bigger warbosses/other factions. You should also avoid tying them too closely to major players in the setting, e.g. don't make your chapter master secret besties with Guilliman or your chaos warband leader Abaddon's secret mentor and confidante.
>>
>>98481452
Mostly agree with this, but I would put Factory Worlds < Fortress Monastaries (certainly for the First Founding chapters at least)
>>
>>98481443
No, dispite all the memes the guard really does do the heavy lifting for the imperium. If they're deployed en mass it's usually some kind of big deal.
>>
>>98481443
I think that's about right. Although the Imperium does get pissed when someone touches their armored divisions.
They care more about munitions and tanks than the lives of their own Guardsmen
>>

>>98481474
The problem is you can't use numbers of Guard to determine how important a conflict actually is to the Imperium.

Take Armaggedon for example. VERY important conflict zone to the Imperium. Only 1.5 million Guard deployed.

Then you have the Canis Salient. A side-project of not much importance to the Imperium which they delayed for a while because they had more important things going on. 150 billion Guardsmen deployed.
>>
>>98481491
never trust gw troop numbers
>>
Reminder that you can destroy infinite Imperial worlds and the writers will keep creating new ones. Destroy as many as you want, the Imperium will always have more. So long as it's not an actual plot important place like Terra or Ultramar, the Imperium can suffer any number of losses because the worlds you destroyed literally didn't exist before the story that destroyed them.

The Imperium is unstoppable. The Emperor has already won.
>>
>>98481491
Billions for a crusade is fairly normal, they then break those billions apart into individual planetary invasion forces, so you end up with each target planet getting a few thousand regiments (a few million guardsmen) deployed to them.
>>
>>98481495
Which is why you can't use Imperial Guard numbers as a metric for which to judge how important a conflict is. Only Space Marines and Custodes really matter for that metric. A few hundred space marines is a minor conflict. A few thousand is a major conflict. Tens of thousands is a serious conflict.

Digital? A labor & resource management game kinda like Soviet Republic, but it's not a city builder. You start as the Adept in charge of a single gun in an Imperial warship, and the game is to have it run as efficiently as possible. The ship goes in and out of battle, effecting things like manpower attrition and supplies. As you progress, you are put in charge of a whole battery of guns, then support systems like sensors and shields for that part of the ship, and as you progress you are put in charge of more and more of the ship's systems until you are second only to the Captain.

Now, to be fair, this proves the point being made that only Space Marine numbers matter, because like 50,000 Space Marines were deployed to Armaggedon, which proves how important it was to the Imperium.

For comparison, the Tau have never fought even 1,000 Space Marines in their existence. Hundreds of billions of Guardsmen, and several Titan legions, but not once have they ever had a battle where so much as 1,000 Space Marines were involved. This is how you know the Imperium doesn't care about them.

Votann range from top to bottom depending on which League and which Kindred you're talking about. The URSR is closer to the top, they'd literally rather die than suffer the dishonor and disgrace of letting one of their Hearthworlds fall to their enemies. They also have some of the strictest oaths for Kin to uphold, and the most severe consequences for failing. Most other Leagues are a lot more... open-minded. Willing to compromise for the sake of pragmatism. They consider the URSR a bit strange.

>Is the game currently good
No, it's lower than it's ever been. Yes, including 7th edition. Yes, including 9th's ridiculous powercreep. The problem isn't that they're ruining the game rules with 'streamlining' and removing all the fun shit to appeal to the lowest common denominator, though that is part of it. The real problem is that kits are becoming less and less customizable, datasheets are losing all their wargear options (look what they did to Wyches... absolute bloodbath of their sheets), and customizability is taking a backseat to an increasingly soulless store of kits and sprues that simply aren't designed for hobbyists to get creative anymore. Except when GW gets lazy and decides to offload terrain and sprues that are actually REQUIRED to play a game onto the customer, "lol figure it out fuckers". Thanks GW.
>In the past 10 years.
I think the only edition that gives 10th/11th a run for its money in the last 10 years is 7th. Just because it really, really was that bad. But the biggest problems from back then are creeping back into the game and everything else that would normally redeem 40k is getting worse.

I sometimes wonder if Warhammer 40k's games were ever good. Maybe the best are just mediocre compared to historical stuff. I mean the terrain and model painting techniques from historical wargamers absolutely put Warhammer stuff to shame so their games are probably better written too.

What were the biggest offenses of 7th edition?
Truthfully I'm not sure if 4th edition was that great as I know that nostalgia tints a lot of opinion so I take all opinions with a grain of salt.
And also most stuff I enjoyed as a kid tended to be slop looking back so I am a bit cynical.

Wyches once had a nice variety of weapon choices to choose from: agonizers, razorflails, the shardnet and impaler, hydra gauntlets, so on. Each came with their own specific utility. Sure, most people only ever picked one or two of those options because they were stronger than others, but in 10th edition GW decided in their infinite wisdom to remove ALL weapon choices from Wyches and simplify their datasheet into:
>Wych Melee Weapons
They're not the only sheet that had this treatment, just the one that comes to mind right now.

There's no RAM in the galactic core or something? The Men of Iron's AI calculated mankind should be destroyed. The one reason for votanns survival is that they do not count as mankind. They are their own, literally stunted, thing.

I vaguely remember some lore mentioning that these big planet eating Votann ships have been captured by some forces of chaos.
I think one mention was Iron Warriors and the other being the Night Lords.
Can anyone confirm or correct with book sources please?

Lastly are the Mechanicus gonna make any operations on these big ships? They already do with Necron tech but you'd think given the history of Votann supposedly being an offshoot of humanity that their tech and their ships would be a higher priority.

>The one reason for votanns survival is that they do not count as mankind. They are their own, literally stunted, thing.
The Kin consider themselves human and are usually annoyed whenever Imperials call them Squats or abhumans. The Votann know this better than anyone, being the ones who genetically engineer them from human DNA sequences. The Votann just don't subscribe to any Men of Iron nonsense about humanity being a blight, or whatever it was that led to the rebellion.
>>98481647
There's nothing that actually bars Ironkin from being a member of a Hearthspake, they just don't usually want to be in positions of leadership. They prefer to support, serve, and assist the Kin. There's a legend of an Iron Kahl who took command of a Kinhost after the fleshy Kahl was slain in battle, leading them to victory, but the Ironkin who did so slipped away after the war was won and was never seen again.

Not true at all. Leagues are formed from Kindreds that come together under a common cause. Kin set the goals and dictate the culture of their own Leagues.

That's just one Votann having a personal vendetta. It's not in charge of its league, all it does is ensure every Kin it produces likes the idea of xenocide. It's up to the Kin of the League to decide if they even care about that, or how they would go about it, or if they would prefer to go mining instead to make number go up.

In all seriousness though, there is genuinely a soullessness to the other factions in the way they treat their people.

Take the Tau for example. To them, everyone is just a resource to be used. They don't consider the humanity of the person at all, you're just a tool to them, that's why they equip their soldiers better, because their dehumanization of people results in a sort of ruthless calculus where "better equipped soldiers perform better in battle" and they can't imagine the power of human grit getting by with more simple tools.

I want the original Necromunda plans to continue, where it was going to become a galactic spanning series using the same core rules and idea (gangs fighting over territory) but jump around all over the place - Gorkamorka was the second one, but it was supposed to continue. After that we were supposed to get AdMech cyborg gangs in the underhives of a Forge World, Death World feral jungle tribes, different aspect temples on a Craftworld that broke down into civil war, and the undercity of Commorragh/the Webway, plus whatever other crazy ideas they came up with (different Chaos cults on a Daemon World, different breeds of Kroot with divergent adaptations, etc)

As a decades-long Tyranid player, no, this is not true and I'm kind of tired of people having this misconception that we're "just heckin bugs who gotta feed their starving larva children!" Tyranids are objectively evil as fuck. They have evolved past the point of needing to eat for sustenance, a Hive Fleet is a self-contained ecosystem that can recycle its biomass indefinitely as long as they float their bioships around suns to absorb energy. The Hive Mind decided instead it's going to expand constantly until it genocides all other life in existence, they specifically go after worlds rich in genetic material to kill what's on it and eradicate it. The Shadow in the Warp filling everyone who comes into contact with it with otherwordly terror and dread is not something that would happen with hungry dumb bugs, they are malicious Lovecraftian monsters from beyond the galaxy.

Even incompatible candidates can still be harvested for two viable gene-seeds. It's literally just their commitment to human dignity that's preventing the Imperium from pumping out as many space marines as they want.

This is also why the Tau are so militant and expansionist as well. There's no 'human cost' to their battlesuits like there is with the Space Marines, to them, everything is just a soulless application of numbers in combat, which is why they choose such a soulless weapon like a battlesuit which requires no sacrifice or thought, just hardware.

This isn't really a problem, I mean it is on an individual basis but there are so many people in the Imperium they could easily find billions that are compatible and can become marines. Gene-seed is the easiest part of a Marine to cultivate actually, since it grows and doubles itself every few years, they literally have slave-farms on Terra where they produce new Chapters with it.

The problem is everything else you need to make a Space Marine chapter function, the most critical and hardest to produce being the space ships everyone forgets about. They can't produce these in anywhere near the amount of time they can make new Marines with the gene-seed.

For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls die every day, for whom blood is drunk and flesh eaten. Human blood and human flesh - the stuff of which the Imperium is made.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. This is the tale of those times. It is a universe you can live in today - if you dare - for this is a dark and terrible era where you will find little comfort or hope. If you want to take part in the adventure then prepare yourself now. Forget the power of technology, science and common humanity. Forget the promise of progress and understanding. for there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods.

But the universe is a big place and, whatever happens, you will not be missed...

>the Imperium could pump out spaceships in massive numbers if it wanted to
No it couldn't, they're already doing it at absolute maximum ability. Space ships need colossal amounts of Adamantium, Warp Drives, Geller Field Generators, Navigators, and skilled Arch-Magi of the AdMech to both construct and operate them. They are bottle-necked in 5 different ways and there are only a handful of Forge Worlds and dockyards in the entire galaxy that can produce the advanced types and it takes them decades to build a single one. Most of the larger ships operating in the Imperial Fleets are centuries old and they just keep repairing them over and over because they practically don't even know how to make the really big ones anymore. If enough ships were destroyed at once it would mean the end of the Imperium. Luckily the Navy is like the opposite of the Imperial Guard, and many of them are hyper-competent badasses.

The Imperium is, first and foremost, an empire dedicated to protecting humanity. It's not a primitive fascist empire of conquest like the Tau, or a capitalistic empire of exploitation of resources like the Votann, or a conniving manipulator like the Eldar. It just wants to keep humanity safe.
>>
>>98482054
I don't think the tens of thousands can all produce them, is the thing. It's like Mars, Bakka, Kar Duniash, Hydraphur, and Cypra Mundi and then like a dozen other of the oldest most powerful Forge Worlds and that's it. They can make small stuff in a much larger number of places, but they are not churning out Battleships on an annual basis in significant numbers. The logistical supply chains to produce these things are like sectors long. There's a reason almost every Battleship ever seen in the lore is centuries old and never newly minted. They are more rare than Terminator armour.

Realistically the Imperium can't actually call upon its quadrillions of humans even if it wanted to because of a lack of ships to carry and supply them, so most battles will only have millions of humans. The Imperium's greatest strength ironically isn't something it can really utilize.

Exactly, thank you. At least the Imperium is nice about their oppression. They're not like the Tau who feed and shelter and educate you only so you're a better worker and fighter and more obedient citizen. The Imperium has a more libertarian mindset. You know I actually think it's true that 40k is a satire. But what everyone gets wrong is that it's not a satire of fascism or whatever. It's a satire of liberalism. The apparent joke is that it shows a dystopian grimdark future civilization where the people in positions of authority are the most cartoonishly over-the-top caricatures of conservative religious fundamentalist men straight out of the witch burnings of the medieval period - a modern progressive liberal feminists worst nightmare. And it appears to show how these guys are stubborn and pigheaded and violent tyrants... but then the twist at the end, the joke that makes it funny, is they turn out to be completely 100% fucking correct and vindicated by their actions. Like this passage here from the Witch Hunters Codex. Literally makes it seem like Karamazov is just needlessly cruel and paranoid, and then the final line is "but actually the important guy he burned turned out to be a plant by Tzeentch the whole time".

THAT is the joke of 40k. It's not making fun of chuds, it's making fun of the people who oppose them. It will make the chud guys look as evil as possible, even moreso than they could possibly be in real life, and then show that, if the critics had gotten their way, if actually the "let's preach love and tolerance!" crowd had been in control - whoops! Those people were actually fucking Genestealers, now you're all dying screaming as bugs eat your faces! Or whoops! That orphanage that Lord Puppykicker Von Heartless burned down was actually full of Slaanesh daemons disguised as children. Or Whoops! Those Eldar you let live because aliens are people too and if those racist evil chuds just showed them respect nothing bad would happen, actually came back and slaughtered your whole planet because of some gay prophecy.

That's the actual satire. It is making fun of the tolerant people in the most hilarious way, so brutally they don't even grasp they're the ones being laughed at.

He have stuff like that in 40k all over the place. Dalin & Yoncy were orphaned when their mom got cut to ribbons by glass shrapnel at a train station in Vervunhive. The entire occupation of Gereon was suffering. I remember a part of an older book during a Tyranid invasion where the PDfFwere sent to reinforce an evacuation bunker full of mostly women, elderly, and children, and ripper swarms managed to burrow their way to the water tanks and got in that way. The PDF only realized when a stream of blood started leaking out of the damaged doors.

How acceptable are 3d party miniatures for 40k in casual environments as long as they share the correct height and equivalent weapons?
Wanting to start with the Tau because of mechs but it seems more fun to proxy out minis with the mech aesthetic I like. Like Titanfall, esque mechs.

Yeah the Imperium is actually the most tolerant place in 40k. They don't care what race you are, what sexuality you are, any genetic conditions you might have, everyone is good to the Imperium so long as they're human.

Compare that to the fascist Tau or the Votann who actively engage in eugenics to breed for desirable traits and it's easy to see how the Imperium is way more tolerant.
>>

Stop making the tau look cool.
>>
>>98481566
>It is funny to me that the Votann basically exist to show that the Men of Iron winning the war would've been the GOOD end and the AI ban actually was just straight up retarded
Leaving aside that the Votann's canonical biggest problem is that they are so overreliant on AI for technology, knowledge and even breeding that they risk being absolutely fucked once the Votann cores stagnate too far...

Everything about them contradicts established lore. And that's because their codex was clearly written with the intent of "let's make these manlets sound cooler than the Imperium so people want to buy the models".

Well established lore is that:
>The Men of Iron nearly fucking wiped out all of humanity, meaning they were clearly too dangerous to ever reintroduce again
>Thinking machines are also vulnerable to Chaos corruption, even a circuit accidentally arranged the wrong way can become an entry point for Warp entities
>Multiple hints that Men of Iron were Chaos corrupted, and multiple examples in the present of DAOT technology becoming chaos corrupted also (for example the Titan)

Votann codex just handwaves all of this because the committee that was writing it either wasn't given room by the suits to care, or, more likely, didn't even know the previous lore.

They will die as everyone in the galaxy, but forcing someone to die for you and before you is a common trope and survival instinct. Especially if someone who die first never care about their own kind, so why eldar should then?

On the other hand, 40k fans melty about this because eldar did this. If imperium did the same with tau, ppl will glaze them
>>
>>98482541
That's always been iffy lore wise. The crons are famously immune to most warp shenanigans, and the tau have been using AI and autonomous drones for ages with no issues.

>The crons are famously immune to most warp shenanigans,
1: they're not robots, they're organically formed intelligences inhabiting living metal bodies
2: they possess technology superior to DaoT humanity
3: The C'Tan anti-warp bullshit makes them special because the C'Tan are the gods of physical reality, as compared to Warp gods, in the 40k setting. The Votann and humanity did not have this link to the C'Tan.
>and the tau have been using AI and autonomous drones for ages with no issues
Tau use very limited AI, which are usually a copy of an existing biological mind, or stuck into a little drone that can't do much in the way of rebelling.
You say "ages", but in the scheme of the galactic timescale, Tau are still a very young race who have only had advanced technology for about 2000 years.

1. Resistance to the warp has always been most strongly connected to the "soul" of an individual
2. Necrons are to the ctan what a space marine would be to the emperor in terms of complexity. They're former mortals and as such should be just as vulnerable to the warp, unless of course a lack of a soul is the real factor at work here
3. In the scenarios you present time should have no baring on the corruption of tech. We already know the tau themselves are somewhat resilient against chaos due to their weak souls so why not just corrupt their AI instead? Even if you want to claim its not as advanced as MoI tech its still plenty powerful and taking it would automatically make every crisis suit and drone a liability. Unless it's not that simple of course.
4. Chaos can theoretically "corrupt" anything, including servitors and even inanimate objects. There is no special emphasis placed on computers here. There is however ample evidence that certain conditions make the process much harder to accomplish for the powers of the warp, especially the lack of a soul.
Again its iffy

They actually do a lot of damage in combination with Goliath Truck's ability to reroll wounds, combine it with Ridgerunner's AP-1 bonus you're making around 30 S3 AP-1 attacks with twin-linked. Against the Aggressors it wasn't that effective vs. their T6 armor but they just wiped an Outrider Squad.
I'm legit thinking of running a Xenocreed with 3x Acolyte Iconwards with Metamorphs & Trucks in it. Sadly I don't have the models.

No one answered this poor disabled child so I will. It's very simple if a little unintuitive.

Being able to attack is determined by model. Each model must be able to see a target within range. Being attacked is determined by unit. If one model is visible the whole unit can take damage. The exception to this is Precision attacks where the opposite rule applies: if any model in the attacking unit can see the target character model the whole unit can attack it.

Hey guys building an army and trying to figure out gw's retarded rules, the core rules sheet is no help here

Or do I have to build a generic marine
>>

That is a shit tonne of attacks, even going into T4-5 it would do well with full rerolls. I kinda wanted to have 2 squads of flaccos deep striking and bullying enemies off objectives + 10 squad of metas either coming out of a truck or just scouting up the board

I'd like to give xenocreed a try given how many bits I have access to to make a fuck tonne more acolytes but like yourself I dont have the models and only one (unpainted) iconward. Scions are like Commissars. Much more useful than guardsmen, much better trained and equipped and integral to the function of the military and the completion of objectives. Ultimately something to just be thrown away because you will always have more. The fate of the human is to die, so did for the Imperium.

>ironkin are still vulnerable to chaos corruption
Source?
Not to mention if it is true, it reinforces the point even further that it's not safe to have humanity in the hands of immortal, powerful Men of Iron if they are Chaos corruptible (which again, it's well established they are).
>>98482812
>They're former mortals and as such should be just as vulnerable to the warp, unless of course a lack of a soul is the real factor at work here
Let's go the latter. The point is, the C'tan blank fuckery explains their Chaos corruption immunity satisfactorily.

Votann have no such excuse.
For regular Kin the "cloneskein" can be manipulated to make them basically Chaos immune (what is the Emperor, stupid? Why didn't he just make all the Space Marines Chaos immune if it's so easy)?, and for Ironkin it's never brought up. Because again, the writers probably just didn't even consider it.

>Even if you want to claim its not as advanced as MoI tech its still plenty powerful and taking it would automatically make every crisis suit and drone a liability
Yes, correct. There's a Shadowsun novel where her suit gets a daemon in it.

But the risk of some suits and drones getting corrupted is nowhere near as huge as the load bearing pillars of your whole society getting corrupted.

The Men of Iron were running every aspect of DAOT society, similar to the way the Votann do. Tau aren't like that, they have more organic leadership and only use AI for drones and scattered roles. That's why battlesuits generally have a Tau pilot.
>There is no special emphasis placed on computers here.
Computers getting corrupted by Chaos is worse because they're immortal and can be far more powerful than individual humans if your entire society is ran by AI, which is the way Votann work and DaoT humanity worked.

It's like a house having glass windows versus being entirely made of glass.

Even setting aside the risk of Chaos corruption, you can still get regular old Skynet scenario.

Thanks. Kind of backs up my point then that it's not totally stupid for the Imperium to put their trust in (corruptible but limited in potential power) humans instead of AI

They've already been nearly wiped out by AI once, so they got rid of it (mostly)
They've nearly been wiped out by too much consolidated power in the Horus Heresy, so they decentralized the Marines and various powers of the Imperium

Seems like they just know how to learn from their mistakes
