>>
>>98489525
Not gonna lie it was said Krieg would never go plastic.
Then they were just gonna be a kill team.
Then their designs were bad.
Then they supposedly didn’t sell well.

So the pattern is probably repeating here.
But I think catachans need a refresh first.
The orks vs exodites should have been Catachan vs exodites.

Maybe catachan and traitor guard can be released together I hope?

See those who said plastic Krieg would never happen. I do think the new design oddly enough is just for trademark design reasons. Or the lack of steel legion with yarrick and then the paintjob was a deliberately made controversy to see if the steel legion has some enduring popularity. GW can’t be that stupid.
Right?

I love assembling, kitbashing, designing cool bases.

I dont really like painting models. I'm not terrible at it, not good. I just prefer assembling, I love all the little finishing and sculpting details. I love greenstuffing my own details, sanding things down, cutting parts too fit. Something is wrong with me.

War Walker guns and wraithlord big guns are easy to magnetize. Most of the Eldar range heavy weapons are shared so this saves effort all over the place. Ie you can steal a painted bright Lance from a war walker or wraithlord for your guardians depending on how you cut it. Wave serpent/Falcon uses a horizontal setup.

Windriders use vertical setups but nobody can tell so either is fine.

Don't bother with the flame throwers/shuriken catas they're aids and the magnets that fit are too weak to hold the weapon well

A much simpler and better system is letting the player take whatever and unlocking units depending on his HQ choices, with the subfaction being purely cosmetic.
>yes, you can field an imperial fists army that's got a small detachment of raven guards and one of black templars alongside them

The real problem with Fomo boxes is that GW's retarded production schedule may mean you end up being unable to purchase the models in the box due to them later not producing enouhg of said model, leading to massive scalping or even just total sell outs.

I fully believe the old rumors that completed loyalist primarch models have already been created and are sitting unused in a file folder on their servers somewhere. I think GW has really polished their production pipeline and at this point the biggest delay is in marketing windows.

feb/march is a minor release window.(kroot army box in 2024, deathwing assault box, red corsairs box in 2026, eldar corsairs in 2026)

june/july is a big release date "splash" window for them. Thats when we saw the space wolves release last year and it's usually when each new edition launches.

I think the next big release window is september/october. That is when we saw votanns army box drop in 2022 and the black templars in 2021.

The holidays IIRC don't have a lot of "new" miniatures and range refreshes and it seems more about army boxes and clearing out older stock.

It will be interesting to see what faction gets the fall refresh. it could be grey knights but my bet is going to be some more Votann models.

I wish I could like them as most of the lore is actually pretty cool and only reconciling it with the 30-ish years of lore without their existence feels off, like if these guys had been around as they are presented since 3rd or 4th edition I think they'd feel even more at home than, say, Tau.

But the model range leaves a fair bit to be desired. Just a little too new sci-fi for me, feels like a design treatment for a video game from 2010 onward. It doesn't do enough to communicate the level of decay their society has inwardly suffered, like obviously they're far better off than the Imperium but when I look at a LoV army on the table it doesn't communicate their insularity, their commitment to the backwardness of their malfunctioning Votann.

I have a stack of sacrificial polystyrene spoons that I use for testing paints. If I feel like priming I take one out and give it a spritz before potentially fucking up any models. You can buy like 100 of them for $6
On a side note what happened to the paint on that model? I know "think your paints" is a meme but I think this was overthinned. You ideally want the paint consistency to be opaque even when spread out but not so thin it leaves the brush lines. This is one of the perks of a dry palette that people don't mention, you can smear it around to test the consistency before application.

Did you know the reason looking at upside down images is so difficult is because your brain takes shortcuts to understand what its looking at? Its harder because you are actually LOOKING at it, not seeing the general outline constructed by your brain to save processing power. So looking at things upside down can be more difficult, but you will see things you didn't see before because your brain literally fuzzes things down for you to interpret it quickly not deeply.

Most humans strongly prefer (or are even incapable of otherwise enjoying without) a personal stand in, self insert, recognizable aspect of themselves, etc. in entertainment. This isn't really a debate, its part of the previous representations, power fantasy, being a badass space knight, how blue good guy marines have been the central figure for a long time at this point, etc. Not a thing I need but also not a thing I dislike. Its the other side of the inclusive argument, that there can and should be things that appeal to guys in a more traditional masculine way, as they had been for some time. Again, not an argument I have a problem with.
The push is from simultaneously trying to expand markets to more people who will buy thing because it has a face closer to their on it and the last decade of cultural war pushing who should be catered to the most, idealized, etc. Its lame. Broadening an audience always involves making the content less interesting and complex necessarily. Its been happening as entertainment controllers aggregate and everything turns into a homogeneous paste.
There's debate about how much a company can expand its audience without alienating enough of the core user base, we see that debate played out here every day. Currently there's enough paypigs GW has directly stated they can make whatever as long as its a marine and it doesn't matter at all. So they'll probably keep doing that.
I'm sorry. Socioeconomically the heyday of things we like is probably fucked in terms of constant supply of things made specifically for millennial guys who aren't afraid of being guys in public.
On the plus side smaller niche communities driven by enthusiasts and a return to those sort of gaming clubs and environments is a thing we can always make. Its better in some ways because you can curate and gatekeep, but it is certainly more effort than just rolling up to the flgs like its 2000.

And she was fucking right. Guilliman and Khan had great childhoods so thats 2 more happy kids than would have happened otherwise.

The state of modern fiction is distinctly post-analogy. Battletech recently decided an authoritarian civilization whose entire culture was fabricated from whole cloth, and features a caste system, and where one of the most important elements of status is the traceability of genetic lineage to a specific group of hand selected gene donors which includes black people, now, suddenly has American racial discrimination in it after 40 years of that not being a thing.

"Niggers" is the whole thing. There are no other thoughts happening there.
>>
>>98490501
Let's not exaggerate too hard here, the Emperor still had the opportunity to fix the damage Erda caused but in most cases just said "lol the Primarchs are just tools anyways" and let Angron suffer the Nails and Kurze suffer mental illness even though he was fully aware both were broken (along with treating Mortarion, Perturabo, and Lorgar like he despised them). Plus he did the dumbest thing of all and trusted Horus not to be tempted by Chaos, even though he knew whoever he nominated as Warmaster would definitely get targeted for corruption by Chaos, for... some reason. Horus wasn't even the most loyal of the primarchs, or the strongest willed. Dude was already laying the foundations for a rebellion even before he got shanked with a poop knife. He basically was looking for any excuse to rise up against the Emperor and Chaos gave it to him.

The Exodite box was supposed to be a proper box vs the Cadian Spectre recon team, but GW execs decided that they needed some way to sell people their shitty Beast Snaggas and they knew Exodites were a really flashy long-awaited new release, so they forced the Snaggas in with them and then needed somewhere else to put the recon team, so they took the new Red Terror model that was being held for the Tyranid Codex release and made a second NPO box with that. Thus we got two of these weird shitty single-player KT releases in a row instead of one great versus box of two actual teams.

To be completely fair, if the Emperor told him about the Webway project, Horus would then ask "but why? We've just finished conquering the galaxy for you, Father, why do you need Eldar tech? We're doing just fine" and then the Emperor would have to explain
>A) that he doesn't actually want his Primarchs to rule over humanity (strike one)
>B) that he doesn't want Astartes to replace humanity as a new, superior breed (strike two)
>C) that the Emperor himself doesn't want to rule over humanity, calling into question the entire Imperium's purpose and existence (strike three)
But in actuality that he actually wants humanity, the filthy stinky losers that the Astartes had to lead to victory in the Great Crusade, short-lived stupid little weaklings, to rule themselves. That is, after they go into the Hyperbolic Webway Chamber and train for a million years until they're all gigachad super psykers like the Emperor himself and people like Horus and the Legions will be utterly irrelevant and forgotten because he never really wanted them except as a means to an end.

>I'll never forget how Erda's plan was so retarded Erebus offered her a place on the side of Chaos because he genuinely believed she was evil for what she did and was Chaos' greatest ally.
Erebus was really just talking shit to get into her head, telling her that everything she did was Chaos's plan all along and she just made their job easier for them. Of course, Erda had just nuked 4 Greater Daemons sent to assassinate her so it's obvious Chaos did not regard her as an ally or a useful puppet but a threat that needed to be removed ASAP.

>Why don't haemonculi make deldar version of assassins?
Because genetic enhancements on their own are boring to Haemonculi. They don't do what they do to make people better, they do it to break them worse. You have to make it worth their while for them to go through the motions and give you a legitimate enhancement, like Scourges needing to pay fortunes to get their wings and other modifications without any negative side effects added in.
>Surely they can do better than the big dumb retards they currently pump out?
Of course they can. But that would be less fun than turning their victims into screaming, anguished abominations. They're more interested in things like studying the genetic degradation of Primaris geneseed, so they collect a marine from every chapter in the Imperium to compare samples.

>Why don't haemonculi make deldar version of assassins?
It's heavily implied that the Mandrakes and Aelindrach are the product of Haemonculus experiments, so technically they already did. I think the most convincing theory I heard was that during the Fall of the Eldar, the greatest geniuses of the flesh cults were going beyond merely surgically altering people and instead were altering realities and subrealms in the Webway, such as transferring minds and souls into locations to become that subrealm. So Aelindrach, a dimension of shadows with a will of its own that only responds to willpower and force of thought, might actually be the mind of an ancient Haemonculus spreading through the Webway like a giant tumor. And Mandrakes are Eldar who got lost in that darkness and warped by it.
>>
>>98490509
I honestly think it's the opposite now. I actually like making my own character in things like games, RPGs, and especially miniatures where I try to kitbash my own captains and stuff.

But now it seems like 40k has worked hard to move away from you making your own dudes and made it about a pantheon of important heroes and villains with their own models and rules that are so powerful you basically need to run them, and making your own chapter or craft world etc is an afterthought.

And the community seems to love it. They love gushing to me about how badass X character is or about chapter cultures and stuff and I rarely see custom chapters anymore. It's the same in MTG. People seemingly were polled about if they liked self-inserting as a wizard who controls weird monsters or if they wanted to just see attractive human characters living out the drama for them and people seemed to just choose the later. I have no idea why but people don't want to actually self-insert or use their imagination to create fun personal stories, they just want to be fans of other people's imaginations. I don't buy the whole "representation matters" shit desu, and I never saw myself in someone else's character like that.

Considering the Primarchs had actual free will and could think for themselves unlike the Custards who can never disobey the Emperor...I think they would've been fine. Alpharius was more raised by Malcador which is why he's an overthinking autist so that's not entirely Emps' fault.

Her death felt more like someone at editorial telling the writer to get fucking rid of Erda because no actually liked her. The perpetuals in general were an awful idea and I can see why a lot of them were killed off during HH.

It's from the Eldar & Dark Eldar Collector's Guide which I unfortunately don't have on me. It's only one of a few proposed origins for them so take it with a grain of salt. The other common suggestion for where they came from is that the Eldar during the Fall started humping daemons and Mandrakes were what were conceived.
The other stuff about the pre-Fall flesh cults fusing souls to subrealms of the Webway, that's from Path of the Dark Eldar, more specifically Path of the Archon I believe, the final book where you get a lot of a Haemonculus's perspective and knowledge laid out.

>I think GW has really polished their production pipeline and at this point the biggest delay is in marketing windows
If this is true, it hard confirms that GW planned to squat the Steel Legion (probably because "nahzee inspiration") and only reneged due to backlash.
If their "polished production pipeline" didn't make even ONE proof-of-concept model in the 2-3 years it takes to get a release box finished, they had no plans to make them and only reneged on that due to the online pants-shitting.
>>98490659
Fwiw, GW does do a bit of the "middle ground" on this issue, even if done unintentionally by providing options for certain parts.
A box of Cadian guardsmen contains 10 clearly male bodies and 25 heads. 4 of the heads are alts for the sergeant (1 is female, 1 is sculpted to be a black man), so that leaves 21 heads for the other 9 bodies.
Of those heads, there exist 13 that are "white man" heads, 3 that can be "anything" (because of face masks/rebreathers), 3 female non-officers, and 2 that are "black man bone structure."
If you want to make your guardsmen all white men, you can do that. You can also go all-out on DEI the other way if you want (but it's still going to be at least 40% white men).

I'm not arguing that it's not intentional or that it's a non-issue to care about the intentional changes GW has done because of this, just pointing out that you CAN avoid the issue in all guard units that aren't named characters.

It's just marketing and executive types seeing that their product has low interaction with 50% of the population. They want to expand to that other 50% and if they don't the board of directors will fire them and replace them with people who will.

Expect an easy to paint range of low-model count minis to show up in 1-5 years that is dominated with female miniatures. My bet is that a missing primarch will be a woman and she has a whole army of all-female space marines.

Like the deathwatch box being sold out for 6 months after release but worser.

I'm actually very fit, not fat, and have extremely high IQ, not retarded. I am an attractive autistic genius. But the title of the thread is not what we're talking about, we're talking about how the shorthand for 40k is 40k and always had been going back decades. Not until very, very fucking recently, with a new influx of secondaries and tourists and newfags, did people start using the term "Warhammer" when talking about 40k. It used to be that if you said Warhammer people assumed you meant Fantasy, and if you meant Warhammer 40,000 you just said "40k". After Age of Sigmar came out this changed a bit because people would start specifying WHFB or AoS or 40k, but even then the term "Warhammer" was just almost never used. I think it's mostly the /v/ermin that started getting involved after stuff like Darktide and Space Marine 2 who have normalized saying "Warhammer".

No one fucking EVER said "Warhammer" to mean 40k until around 3 years ago or so, it's all insufferable newfags.

How do you actually create your own map layouts and have it be "balanced"? Particularly for kill team? I like wargames but haven't played much but one thing that really catches me is how balanced are the maps? It seems like in games like these, a match can be decided from the start but just how shit or not shit the terrain is? Can you tell if a map layout is garbage by just looking at it? What makes a map layout trash? What makes it good?

How strong is a regular CSM compared to a Primaris? Like now that Loyalists have Primaris, what is the Chaos answer to that? Another lore question, it is often made clear that the CSM actually have "CENTURIES UPON CENTURIES UPON CENTURIES OF BATTLES!!!" But yet some factions of CSM have been jobbing relentlessly lore wise. What the fuck is going on there? How is it even possible that they have so much experience if that is true?

Lastly, in this video, a Khorne Berserker blows the head SCHOOMVE off an Imperial Fist primaris. How accurate is that?

Magic, they’re all mutated and empowered by the warp to some extent. As far as primaris, it’s all kind of pointless lore, they’re already making chaos marines as big as primaris now. Whatever the lore is behind that who cares, chaos magic mutated them or something.
As for the second part, even before the Heresy, World Eaters were fucking terrifying, but on the tabletop and in the lore they’re empowered by blessings from Khorne.

I was reading the book ghost legion.
One of the best books I've read here in 2026.
Death riders was probably the best, one of the bleakest books I've read. I knew only the Kriegers can bring absolute despair out but Steve lyons dropped the balls pretty hard with his latest book.
Anyway I had a question for you guys. In this book ghost legion there's a regular human guy who is an adamus temple assassin, somehow he runs so fast that regular humans can't believe it, he outruns people trying to point a gun at him. He also kills a bunch of traitor space marines on his own, and he's so fast he can dodge their attacks and slay them.
It doesn't make any sense to me. I knew assassin's were strong and could easily kill space marines but how can they be so deadly they can actually duel space marines?
Somehow this adamus assassin was stronger than space marines with relic weapons and could even dodge their attacks without power armor. Weren't eversors supposed to be the ones who could fight space marines and they usually died at the end?

That's not how it works, gameplay stats are abstraction, a s4 catachan is not the same as a s4 marine.

Sisters of battle wear power armor and that gives them combat capabilities that you wouldn't expect a normal woman to have. You were expecting a normal woman to lose against an ork, you forgot she's got power armor, she can win against the ork now.

When it comes to unit selection for armies, how "must take" are some units for a given army? I don't play full scale 40k but play kill team and I am coming across many things that basically say "YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS UNIT OR THE TEAM IS ASS" and its kind of pissing me off. I love the game though so I end up just running what I want and possibly sucking. Like would you run a unit if you hated how it looked and hated the lore of it and the only saving grace was that it was good stat wise or something? I don't know how autistic I am being about this. I hate the thought that some units are so polarizing that if you don't take them, you are plunging yourself into retard territory.
>>
>>98491646
Can someone answer my question?
Do adamus assassin's have any enhancements? How can they move faster than space marines without armor?
>>
>>98491656
>abstraction
Should power armor not work the same no matter if it's on a woman or a man? Toughness isn't a stat that is derived from muscle mass like strength for melee weapons, at least in the cases where the model is wearing armor. It's far easier to "quantify" defenses (such as toughness) via armor being a material with concrete properties.
Unless that discrepancy between marines and sisters is down to the extra organs and the other body modifications that the marines undergo. But that then raises the question, why even have the armor if it's so irrelevant to their defense?

>All but confirmed. They maintain a similar battle doctrine that favours close combat but is now also focused on pragmatic, siege, and attrition warfare tactics (their special rule is a near exact match for the Horus Heresy Iron Warrior's signature special rules). Their Ancient Greek theme also matches up with the Iron Warriors' Anatolian/Eastern Byzantine/Ottoman references, and their gene-seed is mentioned to have extremely high assimilation rates, just like the IVth Legion of old. They even have records of action dating back to M32. Horus Heresy Book 6 "Retribution" also alludes to the Iron Warriors being the progenitors of the Minotaurs, as there is described a special unit of Iron Warriors who use heavy hypnoindoctrination and specialised in Counter-Astartes tactics. Edwin Brown, a playtester for the Badab War books, has also stated that the Minotaurs use Iron Warriors gene-seed. He also implies that their Chapter Master is a former Iron Warrior who was expelled from the legion during the Great Crusade, before they turned traitor.

I normally play Army of Faith since I like Take&Hold the most, but Bringers of Flame sounds really good. All of your vehicles, walkers, and infantry can run every turn and still shoot. That's so good for repositioning Castigators, and for Immolators zooming across the field to shoot who needs to have cover removed. It just adds so much flexibility.

And now that you can shoot pistols in combat (that's a new rule for me, I'm an old 4th/5th edition player) that 6" rule about +1 strength will always apply when you're in combat. Every squad leader has an inferno/plasma pistol.

Plus, Bringers is Priority Assets, which is the most similar to Take&Hold. You are still essentially just capturing objectives, except you care more about the one central instead of taking lots all over the map, so it's the same "feel".

I'm pretty sure I'm going to give Bringers a shot for a few games.

I'm just glad at least one person is talking about the actual game in this thread. Bringers is alright, but not a "holy shit look at this" either.
Most enemies you fight have 12" or more of range, so even getting to use that +1 strength is far harder for you than for them. Marines' Firestorm Assault Force is the exact same as BoF, but it's +1 strength is 12", meaning it's just better in every way. Miracle Dice and Dominions squads running flamers/meltas don't make up for it.
If you're playing against someone spamming flamers, you rarely get to use it because your units die before getting close enough to take advantage of it.
I play a bit of Sisters, and have largely dropped BoF in favor of Hallowed Martyrs, if I even bring Sisters to games anymore because they just feel so terrible vs. what I usually play against (marines).

I knew their weapons were better, there was one who tried to headshot Horus but since they're supposed to blend into regular imperial guard regiments I had no idea they were enhanced. They're not even psykers like inquisitors tend to be. So they come off as unenhanced, but their reaction times should not be space marine level.
Also at the end of the day they're human so they can't live as long as space marines. Honestly I don't understand their niche but I guess in this book they are trying to kill traitor space marines and not traitor planetary rulers. But then again you wouldn't deploy an adamus assassin against regular governors or other political elites right? Isn't that overkill?

Models aren't accurately sized. It's been stated numerous times that Tyberos is fuck huge specimen of a space marine, that is defining trait.
The model itself is unironically bad because it fails to actually represent that. Good design and proportions but he should be 50% larger/taller.

This character is not stated to be the height of a primarch, it's not stated to be 3 times the height of a marine, and it's not stated to be the biggest marine ever.

It's just a marine, who's somewhat big, that's it, it doesn't warrant an oversized miniature, and the fact is that said "defining trait" didn't warrant his miniature being any taller than any other terminator sculpt of his time.
This is not the miniature being wrong, it's your idea of what the fluff is saying being wrong.

Most recent stated height for him in The Outer Dark:
>Even by the standards of the Adeptus Astartes the figure was a giant. Standing a head above the rest. He too was clad in Tactical Dreadnought Armor, and for a moment Otte's analytics glitched, informing him he was looking at a graven statue. A slight shift in the giant's stance removed that possibility - dust cascaded from the cliff-like plates of his immense suit and his huge, wickedly barbed gauntlets. Every inch of the warrior was clad and armed with the most hallowed and rare pieces of wargear Otte had ever set his optics upon. It made the Space Marines standing in the Giant's shadow seem like children.

we should get a corsair heavy weapons team that leta you take a bunch of dark lances and bright lances
>>
>>98492887
same difference
>>
>>98492919
don't elves have enough bright lances
>>
>>98492919
Many (are not) saying this.
>>
>>98492590
I think the more telling sign is that kabalites and hand of the archon are sold out in every region including the UK, which are rumored to be one of the kits being replaced
>>
>>98492899
LE LE ECKS DEE XDXD :DD XD DO YOU LIKE ORKS ANON? XDXD
>>
>>98492919
They have the same exact weapon profile, just take normal heavy weapon platforms, and then convert a few to have some spare dark lances and bright lances instead of a D cannon.

last repost of these lads for now
>>
Is it just one dude that freaks out at any hint of a poster being a ritual poster?
>>
>>98492956
yes
>>
>>98492941
NTA, stop being hysterical
>>
>>98492969
HOW CAN I WHEN ORKS ARE MENTIONED :DD XDXD ECKS DEE?
>>
>>98492956
If you see someone freaking out at a specific ritualposter instead of all ritual posters, then chances are that the one freaking out is one of the other ritual posters.
>>
>>98492956
yes it's all one person, it is simply not possible for multiple people to hate worthless ritual shitposts
>>
>>98492901
I'm using AK US Dark Green for olive but the coverage kind of sucks like a lot of AK paints. Needs 2-3 coats.
>>
>>98492987
>>98492988
you schzoids can't even agree on a narrative
>>
>>98492988
I imagine there's plenty of people who don't like those posts, but don't feel the need to throw an ongoing baby tantrum over them either.
>>
>>98492991
Fair
I've mostly used Vallejo for it and found it to be "okay" IME, didn't know if any other brands were better/worse and figured an anon would have something on that topic.
Thanks
>>
>>98492956
its all ratfag and his multiple personalities, he doesnt like other ritual posters
>>
>>98492994
Why should we agree?
>>
>>98492994
the real schizo is you, ratfag
>>
>>98493014
>sees ratfag everywhere he looks
get back on those meds ASAP
>>
>>98493006
army painter has better opacity at a cost of saturation, but I didn't like the look of their fanatics olive/drabs. maybe there's some in their historicals line.
>>
>>98492994
>schzoids
...that doesn't mean the same thing as schizo

>replacing -kits that already got refreshed in 2023-
>not replacing -kits that were totally squatted-

Also jannies will absolutely throw a temp ban at you for replying to the guy now, so I assume there's just a good chunk of people caught in the crossfire every time that retard starts posting here again.
>>
>>98493183
Wait, why would it say Copyright 2028 if they're already producing it now? Don't they file copyright for stuff long before they start selling it? I remember some of those Fuegan/Malys model sprue leaks showed that they had been sitting on those models since like 2023 because of the copyright or something.

Both this and the other knight now have distinctly mechanicus loadouts, I hope they get better integrated into their codex.
