>biggest army you've ever fieldedI fielded a guard army that was essentially all infantry and heavy weapon teams. I won that game (and only that game so far) because the opponent's entire game seems to revolve around them deploying stuff in deep strike. I struggled to fill my deployment zone with all of my stuff and unintentionally screened without realising. Not had much luck with guard so far, struggling to figure out if it's me that shit, the army, my units, or all three.

>>98506133Work and the heat's been fucking me in the ass so I haven't done a lot in the last couple weeks. I'm painting 2 tactical squads and a devastator squad and they're all on this stage. Once I finish them I have 20 terminators to go through.

>>98506368For ork players obviously

>>98506334Overwatch was Metzen's passion project as a comic book nerd and when the higher ups opted to make it focused on E-Sports he lost interest fast. After that the game hit a steep decline as nobody knew what direction to actually take the game, and they've now settled on trying to appral to the East Asia audience with easily churned out slop characters since they keep getting their budget slashed.
>>98506368I dunno, daemons have it too but it's like, their gimmick and they don't claim its a fun silly rule so they get a pass.Sisters are problem child #3 for this. Bananas and clowns at least pay through the nose for the ++ and are supposed to be elite.
>>98506381Ghaz and wazdakka (both massive units) gaining the lone operative keyword is the biggest piss take, on par with primarchs. The headbutt extra attack is hilarious but s14 doing between 4-6 wounds is a bit excessive
>>98506381its just so shit like inferno lance doesn't godroll and ohko him. Titanic was a mistake and epic has no business being tankier than armigers and some big knights
>>98506382It helps that East Asians love corpo slop even more than your average redditor. Whereas westerners are pretty cucked but some of them still have a spine.
I finally decided to filter that faggot who keeps shitposting against the ork ritual posts. News flash, you nigger, just filter ritual posts you don't like instead of being a giant flaming homo.
>>98506394>Always hits on 2+, Wounds every single character in the game on 2+ because of his aura>AP -2 to ensure it's always a coin flip save at best>4-6 damage which is generally enough to pop any Leader in one hitGhaz is now the best Sniper in the game.
We don't use that word here.
>>98506381Wait why the fuck does ghaz have lone operative if none of my HQ choices do? The new model is huge
>>98506369depends on the rest of your scheme
>>98506413because they want you to take the big fuck off model but the game is still too killy that they don't want you to lose it on turn 1
>>98506380You know what looks boring and shit? Unpainted minis. Find a method that works for you and stick to it.
>>98506394We're back to 8th and 9th aura characters and I fucking hate it.
>>98506421I guess he can't join units this time? But they still want him to gain the protection from being with a unit an attached character would get
>>98506416Ah yes its the resident model poster that shits on other model posters. Cringe
Gaz and Guilleman having lone op is one of the dumbest things in the game. Ya they want to protect your super special model from getting shot until after it does stuff but the flavor of it makes no sense and it stupid and there was a point in time they cared about making sense
>>98506413it's like having a bodyguard for your character that can't actually attach because he's too big. GW want him to have all the cakes and eat them too.
>>98506422I have, i just dont paint orks anymore
>>98506431stay salty
>>98506427It's their established way of protecting support characters that aren't actually allowed to lead the units they're babysitting, although Ghaz is a lot bigger than the Enginseer sorts that usually get it.
>>98506434Angron will have it soon, along with the rest of the daemon primarchs. How the fuck does something with the monster keyword have lone op?
>>98506416>>98506441the inside of your jump pack needs to be more white
>>98506441Surprised you arent shitting on the people have posted models so far. Last time this was happening the anon didn't even own models, he pretended someone else models were his
>>98506434It's a band-aid response to how lethal and swingy the game has become. Even a 4++ only goes so far when almost every army is capable of popping lascannon shots across the map.
>>98506443A techmarine & mek having lone op next to vehicles makes sense, ghaz and guilliman having it altogether does not
>>98506434Feels weird to me since they force me to do dumb shit like take bad escort squads for my normal sized hqs but ghaz just rocks with literally your whole army as a shield and he's a giant target that screams "shoot me."Don't even get lone op on farseers and warlocks let alone the Avatar or Yncarne
Do we know who gets their codex after space marines yet? Would the order be similar to 10th?
>>98506457Marines > Orks > Custodes > Tau
>>98506454The Eldar part of that is at least partially GW's reactionary balancing at play. They're still overreacting to the Lone Op jump Autarch from the 10e Index.
>>98506457custodes are one of the first to get the hh stuff into the book
>>98506463I don't play custodes but I honestly hope they make them ws/bs 1+ or have innate rerolls to hit or something because holy fuck the stat creep is real and making them look like shit when they're supposed to be more elite and better statted than marines.
I think we should only get to use 1 stratagem max per phase.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
Aspect warriors should be better than marines at the job they do. I don't know why the fuck they're worse.
>>98506477I hope they don't touch the wych/kabalite kits. Those kits are fucking God tier and I doubt new GW could comprehend a better kit let alone release it.

>>98506480Well anon, in 1st through 7th you would be right. But now we have numarines and they are just eldar+ so you'll just have to suck at everything. Here, take a points cost reduction to storm guardians.Jokes aside I 100% agree, even in the era of numarines. At least fire dragons don't suck at their job but they gave them rerolls to EVERYTHING so I dunno what anyone expected.

Let Chaos Idols take this thread!
After assembling the exodites I have commentary.Pros-they are very modular, it's not simply the amount of bits but the though put into it. The tactical rock, for example, can be placed on multiple feet or none at all. Which sounds kind of retarded, but is actually useful if you were to have 6 squads of dragon knights battleline and needed to differentiate them. Weapons and arms and helmets also allow for surprising modularly and differentiation, having 10 heads for 3 guys can really get you somewhere. There are also 5 torsos instead of 4 like I thought, though missing one of the back ones. However there are only 3 pairs of legs because GW doesn't want you to get cheeky there. This kit was made with the basis of an army in mind.Cons-making terrain out of construction paper is not working and is harder than I assumed it would be and I'm not paying someone online 60 bucks to print out the terrain so I'm at an impasse. The fucking snaggas really ruin this box, being subbed in place of a terrain sprue. But also annoyingly Kt Typhon had a terrain sprue and npo gaunts. Maybe GW should consider decreasing the price of snagga boys if no one wants to pay 60 bucks for an inferior version of boys. The lack of cool terrain remains disappointing.damn there are a lot of Boyz variants now.
>>98506592A late night ratfag appearance, what a treat
wartablegames never posted my order after 6 months, is blackmarketminis any better?
>>98506594>paper terrainPlasticard or polystyrene. You can look up how people do castle walls and other kinds of "solid" terrain, that'll tell you how to make good & resistant tabletop terrain.
>>98506522I really need them to make up an actual in-universe justification for why orks get lethal hits on all their bullets or I'll hurt myself.
>>98506612They did>Shootas and similar firearms have also gained the Lethal Hits ability when targeting anything that isn’t a Monster or Vehicle, because when you fire that many bullets in the vague direction of your enemy, you’re bound to hit an eye socket or exposed cable somewhere. This should help Orks compete in a game where lots of their opponents will be hiding in cover, and the change applies to most shoota-like weapons in the Codex.
>>98506594> The tactical rock, for example, can be placed on multiple feet or none at allAs it should be. I think gazkhull can also work without the tactical rock, for instance.I don't like tactical rocks and I don't want to pay for the extra plastic, especially when it could be another bit. So ideally they'd design the minis so they can be used with tactical rocks, and if need be sell a box of tactical rocks for people who can't do it themselves. If someone likes tactical rocks/scenic bases in the base box, they're a fucking faggot.
>>98506616that's dogshit reasoning that could be applied to give any shooting unit lethal hits
>>98506612There definitely isn't one, they're just copying AoS again and giving every unit crit auto wound.
>>98506616>explanation is for hitting>rules if for woundingFuck this chud gay earth.
How good is the armaggeddon orc battalion for a new orc player that only has the armageddon box?
>>98506522The Stompa being good would be so awesome but holy shit do I not want to build one of those janky fucks again.
>>98506634Yes, Lethal Hits represents wounding from a lucky hit, that's what its for
>>98506612It's on the "supa gatler", aka a giant gatling gun that shoots bullets at 30 000 rounds per minute probably.Shooting that many bullets at something is bound to hit something critical.Or look at this way.Concentrated fire from a gatling that shoots 30k rounds per minute is just going to drill through anything and destroy it.
>>98506610gee dubs told me I could make it out of cardboard and paper.
I'm sorry ork players I love you and I love orks but I really don't care about any of these, your rules were always gonna be cool. I need to know how they are gonna butcher my beakies and how much of my army is going straight to the bin.
>>98506641It's on every shoota and it still makes no sense. "They shoot so many bullets something is bound to hit" yeah that's why you give them a bunch of shots and shit BS, not lethal hits (rending is still the superior name for the rule, fuck you James).
>>98506637it got vehicles and choppas
>bringing 2 stompas to an 11th tournament
>>98506649Enough bullets will rend through any armor.
>>98506649They just need it so that they don't get fucked as hard by the changes to cover as all the races for whom a -1 to hit doesn't halve their output, the explanation is passable enough
>>98506516> the threat of a sudden advance-and-charge from a Warboss’s bodyguard will put the fear of Gork (or perhaps Mork) into them. Have we seen the new warboss datasheet, or is this alluding to warbosses getting a way to dish out riled up?
>>98506655Sustained hits would have been way better.
>>98506666Or just not putting anything on them at all because every basic gun having a special rule is stupid. You can express shooting a lot of shots by having a gun shoot a lot of shots.
>>98506644Rhinos seem to be safe at least. Gonna have to larp as legion tacticals though.
>>98506673That too. I'm just not opposed to most guns having special rules, they just need to make sense.
>>98506649This argument doesn't even work.Eldar shuriken weapons and death spinners are designed specifically to operate on this principle and don't have lethal hits.Ie volume fire and getting random hits in armor weakpoints. They fire mono-edged shurikens that need to hit joints or weakpoints in armor to cause damage. This should mean army wide rending but nah. Orks get it for some reason.
>>98506676If only intercessors were as good as tacticals are in HH3.0
>>98506685Shuriken cannons do have lethal hits. But there the justification is that their ammo is special, which makes sense as to why the rule is for wounding. "We have high ROF" does not translate to lethal hits. It translates to either higher amount of shots or sustained hits.
>>98506673Eh, every gun of a specific type having a special rule can work, giving all Gauss weapons lethal hits works fine. You're right about shootas tho, they should not have bothered.>>98506534Why have all the orks posted recently been death skulls anyway? I've picked deathskulls for my new ork army, are they popular?
>>98506654No they wont lmfaoTheres tons of shit that is genuinely just immune to small arms fire and requires high caliber armor piercing
>>98506649>rending is still the superior name for the rule, fuck you James). The reason it's lethal hits is so that nobody confuses where the effect occurs.>Lethal HITSHit roll.>Sustained HITSHit roll.>Devastating WOUNDSWound roll. Not saying this goes for every rule, but these specifically were named with that in mind. I'd agree that rending sounds better, and sustained hits will never sound like what it actually does, but it immediately dispels the question of "what if I crit wound with rending?"
>>98506649Is it due to them more than likely hitting on 6s due to cover? If they are going to be hitting on 6s for most of the game i guess that's how they justify it
>>98506703>rending hits
>>98506697Because blue iz best, git.
>>98506705So why should their poor shooting equate to automatic wounds?
How often does the game go backwards from power creep?
>>98506641So they'll put lethal hits onto every instance of a gatling cannon or a heavy stubber on a unit then, right? Since it's just for volume of fire?

>>98506720AoS has no excuse when its players will jump at you if you suggest that damage shouldn't spill over or that S/T should still be a thing so that the Attacks and Damage stats and hit and wound rolls have a reason to exist as separate things.
Given how broken the boyz datasheet is will we expect units to be 200 points+ in the codex?
>>98506723I doubt it gets the reset your afterAnd if it ever did it would probably be several years down the line after tons of backlash which may not even happenSometimes stuff just changes, it is what it is

>>98506731That's the implication, that they'll remove the retarded transport restriction. It's also the first time since 2019 that they've shown rhinos and predators in promotional material. They care about revenue first, consumer retention second. They don't seem to understand that they can increase their total revenue by decreasing individual prices slightly as well (because more people will buy them/they'll just sell more of them to the same people), so I don't think that any "pro consumer" choice by them is on the table.>>98506803If every single other thing on the table stayed the same but Sisters went to 80 points, they'd be "fine." 100 is far too much for what they give.
Response to the Ork datasheets is whey they should always release Marines first. Once half the player base knows where they stand power creep can be contextualised.
>>98506786Haha same, but I got lucky and ran into an old friend from my second wargaming group and his crew are mostly down for 4e, BFG, ToW, and Battletech. There's even plans to write updated codexes and a unified roughly 4e based new ruleset in the works since the 3e guard, nid, and chaos codexes are based as fuck.

Rhino capacity surely comes down to 7 if they let 32&40mm bases inside. It's smaller than the Impulsor which only has a bigger firing deck to recommend it.
>>98506799>90pts for all that powerso (storm)guardians are going to 50/60pts, right james? RIGHT?
>>98506875Fuck yeah, I can fit half my 1000 point list into a single rhino. hopefully this happening means the Impulsor finally gets a buff, I have a soft spot for my NOTbradley
>>98506882Anon rhinos already carry 12 32mm bases for every single chaos army. They are not gonna make the transport capacity smaller that would defeat the entire point of the unit.
>>98506879I know, they're just so ass. Aspects are not cut out for modern 40k at T3 W1. Wow, 5++!! You still get one use out of them and they just die to anything.
>>98506861Imo eldar should probably be s4 baseline.Players are expecting them to go toe to toe with space marines but be slightly flimsierEvery melee unit has a bonus to strength just to make it possible to use them anyway.Minimal gameplay implicationsMakes elves notably superior to baseline half starved humans subsisting on corpse starch. There isn't a S4/T3 factionDark Eldar are drug addicts, I don't care if they're s3 and neither do the crackheads but if they are s4 it probably wouldn't do much for anyone other than wyches
>>98506885Actually our balance team realized Storm Guardians have sticky objectives and decided they need a points hike to reflect their powerful special rule.
>>98506882Impulsors can die in a fire for all I care.
>>98506888Internal balance matters more than what different armies get to do with the same model. You can't have the cheapest vehicle available have the smallest footprint and the highest capacity with no restrictions and downsides. GW won't want to stop selling Impulsors and Repulsors to keep the ancient Rhino kit moving.
>>98506890>Imo eldar should probably be s4 baseline.I love your idea and your logic, but for balance's sake we've had to increase the points cost of all Eldar infantry by 1.5x to reflect their new base S value.
>>98506893>GW won't want to stop selling Impulsors and Repulsors to keep the ancient Rhino kit moving.Who the fuck are you? GW does as it pleases, not what you dictate.
>>98506893Just mark up the rhino a few more dollars anon! It's not like half the new players even own them.
>>98506863>bullied GWThe alternative was no Steel Legion at all. Did you not read the original justification they gave after the Return to Armageddon video? Pic related, they wanted to squat the Steel Legion.>still aren't happyBecause GW, in their infinite wisdom, decided in the writer's room to go "let's go back to Armageddon" and then had that made up with marketing material and boxes and their contents designed for it, and then intentionally sidelined and tried to get rid of the guard regiment whose name is on the fucking box. It's like if we got a starter box with "Chogoris" in big text on it and it contained Raven Guard and Tau fighting it out, and the pre-release marketing video for this hypothetical Chogoris box featured Blood Angels, Raven Guard and Marines Malevolent, with no mention of the White Scars at all. And then a few days afterwards, when WS players start asking "hey why are there no White Scars on their homeworld?," GW puts out a shitty excuse saying they're in such small numbers due to combat as to not really exist as a tangible force anymore.>>98506881Yet they continually have an upward trend of profit YOY since 2024 at the earliest and are continually able to give direct salary bonuses to ALL employees (not pay raises, an end-of-year lump sum).I think their MSRP is artificially inflated with a very large profit margin, that's all.
>>98506893First, everyone that wants an impulsor already has one and now there's tens of thousands of primarisfag new players that don't own a single rhino. Second, having a cheap transport to carry a full squad is the entire point of the rhino. Repulsors still have a niche since rhinos won't fit gravis or terminators and impulsors have a bigger fire deck though realistically they should be phobos exclusive.
>>98506844Lady Malys...
>>98506897Understandable anon. Have you considered also reducing their weapon skill or ballistic skill? They have really high base stats for a xenos race and it's making Timmy anxious about how well his space marines will do against them next game.
>>98506903Yes GW is doing well financially
Given nobz are 3 wounds surely they take up 2 transport slots now
>>98506906She got released. What's your point?

>>98506931>vidya*farts*
Since it feels like there's a few Eldarfags in here, how would (you) buff data sheets since it seems like everything is going to get stat boosts? You guys have said higher S for some weapons profiles but I feel like it would be better for Aspects and other specialized units to have (anti X 3+) to keep them more specialized vs a general buff to S. I also think Eldar in general are far too squishy (and I will include all other T3 armies) even with the new cover/hidden rules, because everyone has way too easy access to ignores cover, re-roll all hits, etc. > Faction wide "hit rolls made against infantry and mounted units in cover/hidden/stealth cannot be re-rolled or modified while still retaining the benefits of cover/hidden/stealth. Ignore rules that ignore this rule (lol back to 9th)". I feel like that would be a fluffy way to increase their durability by showing how slippery they are beyond just giving them a better save or another wound or more T. There's lots of ways already to give your units cover/hidden/stealth already outside of just being in actual terrain which is fitting I think.
>>98506932You're not wrong but I mostly said that because I haven't played DE in 10th and was only thinking about CWE and Harlies when I came up with the idea. It would probably be fine since wyches get +1s as a combat drug sometimes anyway.Let me think....incubi are s4+ anyway, wracks are s4 and have poisonKabalites are guardsmen and don't get fix bayonets or anything wild, plus Sergeants have venom blades...Angoniser is poison...Yeah it should be fine.
>>98506942marinechads stay winning
>>98506932That's true, would be fitting to have them get T4 or 2W, maybe not army wide but definitely should be able to give certain units that.
>>98506931I saw thatUsually not a good signThere were some issues apparently whatever man we still got tabletopKill team is where its at
>>98506937do you really think somebody would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?
>>98506921Increase their invuln against shooting or melee, depending on the aspect. Dire Avengers thing could be that it's both.
>>98506963I like that in 30k the standard is still 1 wound but veterans get 2.
>>98506953I felt like Strands of Fate was a good, fluffy way of improving the actual effectiveness of Eldar units without resorting to stat padding or wound inflation. It's just so unfortunate that the mechanic was designed so shittily it could be abused to make an Avatar immortal or D-Cannons into 'delete this unit from existence' when it should have been a way of making Guardians and Aspects pull their weight despite the odds.
>>98506953Marines and other armies have totally eaten into the "speedy glass cannon" archetype James was trying to push. Not to mention that due to stat bloat everything is too tough too fast and too strong for Eldar to even be considered glass cannons. They're just glass now.Even if you tried to push this again I don't think it would work. Really we just need psychic phase back. Maybe a new army rule.
Rerolls should be limited to strats only. It should be considered a treat to be able reroll something, not a standardised thing that's on so many datasheets. I'm glad they fucked off rerolls during overwatch
>>98506987Stratagems shouldn't exist period.
Tau codex when? I want to know if I can skip this edition as well.
>>98506999trips of truthall stratagems do is force you to carry around a deck of cards and slow down the game with obnoxious rerolls. Remove stratagems and all re-roll special rules
>>98507004>tau playerPlease do!
>>98506985With the seeming level of power creep and GW's historical ability to balance Eldar, I'm sure we can expect something ridiculous come the Codex.
>>98506953Eldar having strong rules to compensate for a mediocre Statline is fine up to a point but the problem is that statlines only go up whereas rules come and go and there's been a lot of edition creep.Marines are W2 now. They aren't losing that. Assault cannons aren't going back to 4 shots. At some point you have to just ask for stats because the rules keep yoyoing out of existence and either being useless or completely breaking the game.So your fix might be good for 11th, but then you need a new rule for 12th, and then a different one for 13th.Armywide fire and fade used to be a thingFate dice used to be a thingArmywide rending used to be a thingYnnari's death trigger used to give you an entire extra Phase of your choice on the unit getting soulbursted instead of being useless trash -oh and it was army wide too!
>>98506985You could give Craftworld Eldar Strands of Fate back in its unnerfed form and they'd probably still be low end in 11th
>>98507009We need the tau, they're a containment race. Just like the space wolves are a containment chapter.

>>98506999Damn this thread is dropping truth nukes all over the place
>>98506953I don't even know at this point. The Anti-X fix might help, but we are just so damn squishy. I often don't bother rolling at this point if the day is getting long, since everything dies to everything. If we're never getting stat deflation again, make Shuriken weapons AP-2 minimum across the board, Storm Guardians get S4 A3 AP-1 melee, Defenders get S5 A3 on their catapults, and give us an army rule psychic phase. Those changes without any points increases would make them almost right, a little on the weak side.I DID manage to tie up a Baneblade with a unit of Rangers at the last game I played, however. 5++ against a full salvo from him, he missed his melees, and I just kept falling back into cover. He spent 3 full turns trying to wipe that unit of 5 stealthy boys.

I'm new, but I heard about Christmas Battle Force boxes GW does every year. Wondering in advance how hard is it to snag one online, where to prowl? Was thinking of slowly painting my Ork starter set over the months, then getting that discount set when it launches (I assume Orks will be one of the armies that get one since they are the 2nd headliner faction this edition with new stuff, no?)
>>98507773Death Guard is cheaper to reach point values (because you have to buy less total boxes of models) and is more straightforward "fun" in the sense that you're still playing space marines at the end of the day. Far more beginner friendly even if painting internal organs and buboes is a bit of a ball-ache.Imperial Guard (fuck "Astra Militarum") is the way that history autists play 40k. The "traditional guard power fantasy" of tanks and infantry in a combined arms mass assault is nowhere near the optimal play right now though. Not a great starter army, very good as a 2nd one though.>t. I started with Guard in 5th edition
>>98507788>>98507798>>98507830Cool, but I'm not sure about the easier to paint thing. The marines are really detailed, much moreso than normal space marines. But I like that, I want a challenge to paint.

Fixes for Eldar.>All kinds of eldar (craftworld and dark) are now 50% faster than marine equivalents rounded down.>basic infantry move 9", jump infantry move 18", etc.>Craftworld army rule is a free 6" move after activating a unit during your turn. Yes this means you can charge, make your melee attacks and leave combat before the enemy even gets to swing back though your still obeying alternating activations so you can't protect all your units at the same time. Also each unit can only make 1 battle focus move a turn.>DE army rule is just that the whole army always counts as hidden. Instead of revealing them as normal shooting just increases enemy detection range by 6" when targetting the unit that attacked. This stacks every time you activate them but resets if they go a round without shooting. Mandrakes can only be detected by enemy units within 6" base because fuck you. There you go. Both Eldar kinds are still T3 W1 chumps who die to guardsmen bayonets but now the gameplan is to literally never even be in a position where the enemy is allowed to attack you at all. Play like a complete piece of shit and make everyone hate you elfags.
>>98507908
Eldar should get primaris'd, Primaris Aspect warriors that are better than before
>>98507901I don't. Just like the bolt rifle it's a superflous weapon that doesn't need to exist and needlesly changes the shape and proportion of a weapon that had been consistent for decades. Just make bolt pistols AP-1 like they should have been since 8th. Plenty of other AP5 weapons got AP-1 in the translation. Or better yet, go back to the old AP system so that armour can actually mean something.

>>98507773Whatever faction you decide, get the Kill Team first, NOT the Combat Patrol. That lets you see how much you actually enjoy -painting- that faction's minis before you commit 150+ bucks. They are fully playable in 40k as well.Helpfully, the Kill Team starter set right now is Death Guard vs. Space Marines, so you can see how much you enjoy painting Chaos trim. If vanilla Space Marines doesn't interest you, you can sell them, split em with a buddy or just use them to practice your painting. Worse case scenario and you hate painting both factions, you still have two full Kill Teams and the terrain for it. Vs. being stuck with a half-painted Combat Patrol box that you have to put on Ebay.Imperial Guard has a whole host of Kill Teams if you go that route. Imperial Navy Breachers and Ratling Snipers are the weird, quirky options. Kasrkin and Spectre Squad (the new guys) lets you practice on painting Cadians, which are the standard (unfortunately). If you're going the opposite direction for infantry, there's a Kill Team for the Death Korp as well. Spectre Squad comes in a box that also features the Red Terror (Tyranid monster) that you can easily flip or use in the single-player "boss" mode for Kill Team.

The reason the votann kind of suck is thisVery little of their art- their conception- is Last Stand battle pieces.New gw corposlop art just has them standing around, or sending out their floating tanks to do stuff. The Squats were cool because early 40k was cool with standing their ground at their Stronghold for their clan against scremaing green nig- well anyway you get it. Votann are just kind of "there"
>>98507863>but old enough into 40k to know the gargantuan amount of retcons, rehauls and reworks to the settingThere aren't really as many as people make it out like there is.
>>98507773>>98508008Astra militarum CP is actually cheaper on ebay because no one wants the fucking space horses lolDG CP is much better since it has muhreens, behicle (GW purged most behicles), terminators and two characters (since they are a bitch to collect separately).

>>98508007What purpose? Carbines are statwise even closer to regular boltguns. They do nothing that boltguns shouldn't be doing already. Heavy bolt pistols also do not serve a different role to regular bolt pistols, that single pip of AP on a 1 shot S4 D1 pistol is meaningless and they give heavy bolt pistols to every unit that's actually gonna use pistols anyways.

>>98508079>They feel a little like they go against 40k as a settingDisagree I think they actually fill a much needed niche, actually several niches at once. In terms of the general lore and worldbuilding of the Votann I think GW did an amazing job, they just dropped the ball in two areas:>minis should look a bit more rugged and beardy>get the woke femoid shit out of thereThe female models literally murdered their sales prospects.
>>98508068The reason Votann suck is that "autist technocrats with sticky fingers" is a niche already taken by AdMech (and done way better).Dwarves are usually the conservative/capitalist faction yeah. Late-Late-LATE stage capitalism would have been an interesting concept, especially as a foil/frenemy to the commie Tau like some of the Demiurg lore hinted at. AdMech are baroque creepy body horror cyborg religious zealots in robes with censers and skulls on everything, Votann are Space Dorfs with corporate mining colony moonbuggy NASA space force aesthetic and nordic runes. One has skittering multi-legged spider-tanks and the other has huge rolling wheeled land rovers. One has everyone's faces replaced with almost insectile gas masks and multi-lensed goggles and the other they have bubble helmets and fleshy faces with beards. First of all there isn't any need for a "next generation assault marines", especially not when they don't do anything assault marines didn't already do. Second, they do have jump packs. Third, there's no real room between a bolt pistol and a bolter. The gear is redundant and makes things inconsistent and bloated for no reason.
>>98508289Yes. Who are you stealing from? By the picture I'm assuming you're playing World Eaters. Okay so if chainaxes break in combat, where the fuck are you stealing Chainaxes from? Let's say for example you're fighting Imperial Guard, Necrons, and Tyranids. None of them have Chainaxes. So you're not stealing any of that shit from them. Where are you getting them? Maybe they need to start replacing Chainaxes with Imperial Chainswords. Are you representing that on the models, using more Chainswords? Are you taking Imperial style chainswords and filing off the aquilas or whatnot and carving and scratching Chaos runes into them? Then it doesn't really look like you're stealing your gear. How about helmets? Where are the spares for those coming from? You aren't stealing those from Guardsmen or Necrons or Tyranids or Eldar or most other factions. What are you using for transports in between battles? Are you fucking walking? If you're using vehicles what are they? Aircraft? Space craft? Breaking into the webway? You should think about all of these things.
I hate minorities and women what army is right for me?
>>98508319>Because they are just boltguns. They really should but GW insists on being retarded.>Not everything needs a reason or a different role. Them just being there to be cool and add variety is all that matters. My point is that they don't have either. If they were just cosmetic differences explained by different patterns I'd have no issue. GW just insists on being stupid with primaris weapons. Changing shit as if they hated the originals.
>>98508355ntab world eaters are joined at the hip with one of the largest dark forgeworlds
>>98508349>sneaky>No because the bolter is already that.lol "old good new bad" clowns tie themselves in absolute knots defending their dogma
'Lo friends. Grognard checking-in with you lads. Been playing since 3rd edition. Big fan of the primaris updates, really feels like the good old school sm with modern updates.
>>9850828240k plays around the platoon level so there not much need to detail what the rest of the force is doing, though a general picture does help give context. Say the army is pushing the frontline forward while your force tries to capture a fortification, attacks supplies or communications or it's simply an advanced recon force dealing with an enemy patrol in no man's land. Loads of possibilities.
>>98508359Okay which is cool and that's a start but then you still got a bunch of questions to ask. Like are they doing any particular missions for the Dark Mechanicum in exchange for this gear? Are there particular items they are sending you to steal in order to trade for more arms and armour and ammo? How are you getting between the Hellforge and the battlefields? Etc.All players should think about things like this because it gives you inspiration for how to start customizing, converting, and making your army feel real and part of the setting, not just game pieces that respawn in between infinite meaningless tournament rounds.
>>98508357>They really shouldThey already are.>if they were just cosmetic differencesThey already are.Like you said the extra AP means diddly squat anyway, and doesn't make them much different, so they are just cosmetic
>>98507923>Plenty of other AP5 weapons got AP-1 in the translation.Like what?
>>98508371No one has ever said this and meant it, but I respect the bait attempt.
>>98508386NTA but it's bloat, adds an entire separate line of weapon stats just to change the AP to -1
Guys, it's super simple.
>>98508398Kek
>>98508398mind fucking blown
>>98508386Are you autistic?
is making AI videos of your models based or cringe.
Bolt rifles, and Primaris in general, just look gay, is all. They just look meh. I just don't like them. Won't pay money for them. It's really that simple. Models are expensive and if GW wants me to spend money on models they need to make them more than just average or good enough, they have to be exceptional, they have to tickle my brain in all the right ways, they have to be fucking awesome. Primaris are just super fucking mid. Some of them in previous editions were downright bad, awful even, but these days they're usually just mid. But mid isn't good enough for my money. Sorry! I'm just not going to buy them is all. Why don't you make some space marines like this, James?
>>98508424Using AI is Ultra Cringe.
>>98508428To me it's much simpler. I liked marines. Changing every little thing about them like the ship of Thesseus until the only thing in common they have with the marines I liked is that they are big space men with big pauldrons makes me dislike them. The fact that they are the reason why the marines I did like are forever gone makes me resent them and no matter how much time passes it's not gonna change.
>>98508446I understand what you mean, and I agree with you, but I believe that, if the primaris changes had actually looked good, we wouldn't feel that way. It was the fact that almost all the changes were negative.
>>98508424based, scamming kiddos is valid
>>98508349>No because the bolter is already that. Why are you like this? Also I'm talking about assault intercessor squads which do not receive jump packs and benefit from a stronger but still manageable pistol.>Third, there's no real room between a bolt pistol and a bolter. You're just being silly now. I'm sorry the existence of new bolter variations trigger your autism but they're entirely reasonable.
>>98508327>I want my army special rule to be a debuffGet with the times grandpa, it's not 2nd edition anymore.
>>98508479You are a retard who doesn't know anything about Tyranids at all. It was never a debuff and it was also the same fucking rule from 2nd through 9th edition with only slight changes.
>>98508424cringe
>>98508485Take off your rose tinted goggles dumbass. It was always the same principle of "if you move your guys outside of 12" synapse your guys act retarded", and some lame ass leadership buff bundled in. It was a rule that at best had barely any effect on the game and at worst made our own guys worse.
>>98507928So much of the Eldar FW stuff is so simple getting it cheap from a recaster is better.
>>98508503You never played a single edition before 10th and have zero idea what you are talking about. It was a bubble of 12" Fearless that ignored absolutely all psychology. Also in 4th edition granted immunity to Instant Death, and in 9th was reduced in size to 6". That was it. Everything else was Instinctive Behaviour which was a separate rule that either didn't exist or worked completely differently from edition to edition. Synapse was purely a buff.
>>98508424Literally depends on the outcomeIts cringe if its done seriously in a way that comes out shittyIts based if the end result is genuinely cool or funnyIts also based to piss off militant anti-AI people
>>98508424It's cringe if you pretend there's any merit or worth to it beyond a cheap laugh you'll forget about in an hour
>>98507908>>98507914>>98507949>Imperial Armor mentionedhttps://gofile.io/d/I3Df7E0n
>>98508479>I want my army special rule to be a debuffYes? I do want my dudes to be cheaper than they should be with a logistical challenge added on top.
>>98508510oh well its definitely cringe then, >>98508519mainly just testing out to see what's possible with a new model.
>>98508508synapse and instinctive behavior went hand in hand. Other than that it gave leadership buffs which it already does currently in 11th, whoopdyfucking doo. Sorry for wanting synapse to actually be a relevant rule for once instead of a lame afterthought.
>>98508543That is...insufficient.
>we added lethal hits to orks to show that with a lot of bullets even some of the bullets find weakspots in the armorbut isn't that literally what the wound roll is supposed to represent?
>>98508558Buy the models, goy
>>98508536Would be cool if they actually were cheaper, and the debuff was more interesting than the old instinctive behavior rules. Something like they get statline buffs but take mortal wounds or something if they're out of synapse.
>>98508558no, it's what the armour roll is meant to represent
>>98508564>and the debuff was more interesting than the old instinctive behavior rules.Agree on that.>Something like they get statline buffs but take mortal wounds or something if they're out of synapse. My first instinct was something like: Units in synapse are immune to battle shock, units out of synapse are battle shocked. But that might be too far.
>>98508558You're missing the big picture hereThis opens the door for the 150-point Leman Russ Punisher (20 attacks of s6ap0 damage) to get Lethal Hits on its main gun
>>98508558You're going to be getting a vist from the GW legal team if you keep talking like that.
tyranids should have to shoot/charge only the nearest targets if they are out of synapse range
>>98508558>>98508598HahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>98508558We can skip the "but did it hurt?" roll if we've already established that the Hit was Lethal.
>>98508624But how do you know if the hit hurt without a roll?!
>>98508610>Space Marines go from elite armored infantry to "Toyota Hilux: the faction"
>if you build to handle knight spam or vehicle guard spam with lots of antittank, you'll love to ork/guard infantry spam>if you build to handle infantry spam, you'll lose to knight and vehicle spam>if you make a balanced list that makes sense for a bit of both and has a variety of units for your own army, you'll likely lose to bothThis is a fundamental issue with the game.
>>98508643>>if you build to handle infantry spam, you'll lose to knight and vehicle spamnah nigga that just makes you pick disposition where the less relevant side becomes action monkeys unless you're PtF brained
>>98508634Because it Hit something so Critical that damage is inevitable.
>>98508643The real issue is that stacking damage is king and you need at least three of any specific counter to get the desired effect.
>>98508264Mariens are easy, Mine hotdrop impulsors and use traditional thunderhawk transporter delivery for most of the foot sloggers, they deploy close to the target and then move in after servo skull drones find a good spot. Scouts and Incursors use the Impulsors as highly mobile recon platforms to find the enemy, then dismount and start marking targets while the transports shuttle back to pick up the actual follow on hitters. Force command and veterans chill in a landraider that is used to hammer the hardest target. Drop pods (off table) deliver heavy weapon teams who walk on from strategic reserves to flank from the table edges.Tau are also easy. They mostly use retooled imperial ships for transport while the small number of actual Tau hulls are kept close to the actual sept world. Aquila’s modified to drop crisis suits are a favourite. Though it has led to some unfriendly fire incidents.
>>98508643Sounds like a fundamental issue with your skill.
Will GW move to dropper paint bottles anytime soon?
>>98508720That would mean buying new machines which means no.
>>98508720>will GW make a pro-consumer change that results in having to buy less paint?
>>98508720I doubt it. They've had years to and haven't yet.
Will GW stop charging insane amounts of money for tiny pieces of cheap, unpainted plastic?
>>98508748what are you doing being involved in this hobby without an SLA machine in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six
>>98508720Not until people stop buying their paints.
>>98508624>We can skip the "but did it hurt?" roll if we've already established that the Hit was Lethal. But how will the target know they got hurt if they died before their brain could ever register taking damage?

What does /40kg/ think of this base for Typhus? I went for a split rock with a few skulls and smaller rocks around. His right foot is standing on a pile of imperial rubble, but I think that could fit with the scene.
>>98508905I like itHave you seen that trick of mixing super glue and white glue to make gross infected looking veins? Could do that on some of the basing to sell the corruption
>>98508911I haven't, that sounds cool.
>>98508923It causes the glues to wrinkle and form these random natural patterns, I'd look up a video but it's super easy to do
