Sure

Any good melee weapons kits you'd recommend? I guess I need two rocket launchers too. Caedere weapons are probably overkill on them, maybe chain axes?

I got a bunch of prints from etsy, load of pistols, bunch of power weapons. Two missile launchers. Good price. Check for garage gaming, somewhere around £12 for the thing. Although you could probably source some STLs and print it yourself if you have that avenue open.

If you want melee weapons? The heavy chainaxe can double for an excorciator imo

How do you retards even put up with recasts when it's literally just a scam. Look at the mold slippage on this head. It's almost split in two. 5 out 10 heads are unusable. I don't even care that much about the 2 bucks lost, but do I complain? Is it possible for them to fix the mold slippage if I order twice?
>>
>>98532608
Shooting is the most easy way to deal with custodes. Centurions can handle the rank and file custodes in melee, but characters, aquilon terminators or hetaeron guard are gonna be a problem.

>>98532581
They work okayish. From my experience you might struggle getting a super flush fit due to width/the elbow, but it looks good enough on new arms.

Speaking of: Augur C&C squad. Havent drilled the barrels yet, will do it once they dry a bit so I dont have them fall apart on me.
>>
>>98531941
Hm, I do have a few berzerkers sprues somewhere, I could totally use those.
>>
>>98532608
Centurions do fine vs most of them. But basically nothing short of a primarch fights a tribune and wins (unless you stack the deck a LOT).

But yes, shooting them is the best move, ideally either with D1 breaching (plasma) or D3 Ap2 (melta), which negates their eternal warrior. If you want to engage them in melee terminators are decent, custodes have universal AP2 but unless they charge theyre limited on attacks and have (some) issues wounding T5, The terminators are a super tough nut to crack, but twin claws are okay into them (although theyre super expensive and heavy, just avoid them). Or use saturnines, T6 and D3 are things custodes dont really like much.

>>
>>98532693
I have no idea what parts you ordered, but I guess it could be both. Some products have bad reviews because the mold is low quality, so I assume some of them are just kinda "inherently fucked". Personally ive had a good experience with them, so that also suggests its tied to specific items rather than a general "variable quality".

>>98532652
>How do you retards even put up with recasts when it's literally just a scam
Because you get what you pay for. Its a product at significant discount with the risk of lower quality and standards.

Yep, sadly the original MK4 jump packs are just too small. They were already so when compared to old mk2/mk5 ones.
The new mk4 assault marines having nonsensical ugly torsos also doesn't help.

Either get upscaled prints/3rd party (tortuga), or use nuMk2 jump packs with them, there's some support for that in old art.

Good day anons, rare Adeptus Titanicus question:
Is it possible to have an even match between a single warlord titan and an equivalent amount of points in Knights? What kind of composition would the knight side want if this is possible?
Reason: I'm eyeing the AT warlord as a painting project and my buddy wants to do an all knights army, we were wondering if they could be played against each other in an extra small scale game.

Not specifically. Their ranged damage is surprisingly solid, that BS 5 is so fucking nice. Usually park them on a back or mid field objective and shoot at whatever infantry is in range and LOS.
It's also very nice that they don't evaporate the instant something vaguely looks in their direction, like with regular tactical squads.

>Is it possible to have an even match between a single warlord titan and an equivalent amount of points in Knights?
Technically yes. Practically no. An expensive warlord is around 510 points (e.g. the two belicossa+apoc missiles base kit). For that you could get 2 banners of 3 lancers, or an astreius and some lancers, or two or three banners of various questoris knights etc, which the warlord could very well kill in a single salvo much less in the at least two turns it takes to get into melee. A learned player would give that warlord at least one graviton ruinator or mori quake cannon for that delicious concussive debuff as well as reducing the points cost of that warlord which would cause different problems. Of course terrain plays a role in deciding what that warlord can do but it's pretty easy for a single titan to stomp into a firing lane and not bother to move.
>>
>>98534841

Now assuming that you limit yourself to the available kits without purchasing extra parts the warlord still has a pretty significant advantage. Unless it's two asterius knights then it might very well be even, but that's really boring.

It's not so much lazy as it is - from GW's perspective - efficient. If there are only five poses across the whole range, they can produce supplementary kits that fit all of them, and both the core and supplementary kits can be simple and quick to produce since you only require a couple of runs on the production machines.

I'm not saying that's a good thing, just that it's less lazy than it is selfish.
>>
>>98534287

A normal torso like the one they were doing pre primaris shit can take literally any hand/weapons pose. The most universal thing ever was the cut between torso and legs. It was perfect. They could just keep that format and publish new legs poses. Crouching, running, jumping, walking, whatever. We could have ten times better looking armies than the one they gave us with the same 5 poses shit.
>>
>>98537505
>A normal torso like the one they were doing pre primaris shit can take literally any hand/weapons pose
And those "normal torses" were also limited to a small number of poses. Namely the squat.
>>
>>98537363
Universal weapon upgrades have existed for decades without shared monopose bullshit. The new weapon kits don't even got ammo feeds or power cables, there's literally no valid reason besides lazy GW designers cutting corners.
>>
>>98537546
They were not. There were kneeling legs, running legs, you name it, and the torsos fit with all of them.
>>
>>98537546
No, they were not. And also you could move the torso backwards and make a predatory jumping marine. I did one in my other life when I was playing NL 40k, but then GW invalidated the loadout. It was a wonderful Raptors sergeant jumping with his two lightning claws pointing in front.

Unless the Warlord brings a dedicated anti knight load out (basically double belicosa), at which point it will in one turn probably 70% of the knights, and then finish them on the next turn.
All knight armies don't really mesh well into the game, even if they are an option.

>>
>>98539499
>fucking tarantula sentry guns
I must be alone in liking them for the tactical element they represent, but not how they were ever priced or statted.
You'd think a unmovable shooting platform that autofires would have more usability, or at least more shots to make up it's lack of maneuvering and price.
>>
>>98539477
Based. I'd stick to Epic for titan gameplay, or use old apocalypse rules. As for the models, I'm sure there are great STLs, even scans of titans, out there.
>>
>>98539512
Are you crazy? Current tarantula rules are fucking busted.
>Cheap
>Special shooting reaction that happens during enemy movement phase means they almost always will fire before being killed
>Infiltrate combined with being vehicles allows nasty movement blocking, this alone makes them more than worth their points value
Can pull off bullshit with tarantulas that denies objectives turn 1 and has zero counter play.
>>
>>98539508
If you mean like current 40k, no it's nothing like it, despite GW's best efforts. It takes a bigger table because GW butchered 40k table sizes so they could skimp on buying tables in GW stores, and it takes longer because a unit doesn't evaporate into a thin air from being in line of sight for a turn.
>>
>>98539558
yeah, that thing was one of the final nails in to coffin of my cities HH 3.0 ed community. 8-12 of those locking you out of objectives, is not just "broken" but extremly unfun to play against. And when performed by everyone in turns the game in to "I won the roll to deploy my first, now I win". anon that thinks they should be cheaper/more shoty is crazy.
>>
>>98539508
No, it's a different game.
Table size depends on the points value you're playing, HH scales waaaay better with different point limits than 40k does. At 3000 points you'll need the full 6x4' size, but at 1000 or even 1500 a 2x2' area will do.
Duration of playing it also depends on the size of the game you're playing, though once people know the basics it plays a lot faster in my experience. Even with the full 3k games I've seen people arrive late, set up a table, play a full 5 turns relic hunt missions, pack up and head home - whilst the more casual 40k players who arrived earlier are still in the middle of their game.
>>
>>98539672
And you didn't implement a gentlemen's agreement to not bring more than one set of tarantula sentry guns?
House rules and self restraint are the only reason the HH community survived, otherwise shit like phospex rapiers in 1.0 and contemptors in 2.0 would have completely killed the game.

It goes beyond that, though, grimderp can even extend to models, like how the 40k admechs have "servitors" that are just cyborg slaves on their models, imperium having skulls everywhere, etc. I know the weird derpy skull obsession is missing from HH, as well as the insistence on "tyranids/necrons/chaos will win" in the writing since chaos loses in the HH and the others aren't a thing yet. I just don't want to have to see grimderp on the table, I want hope and faith reflected in what would otherwise be a very uplifting, almost arthurian/howardian/tolkienesque fairy-tale like Christian-adjacent swords and sorcery setting but in space. And that does extend to models.
>>
>>98542938
Chaos lost every single black crusade for the entire history of warhammer up until GW retroactively decided they had won. Every single hive fleet invasion was defeated and shattered into splinter fleets and necrons really don't do anything at all. In the Horus Heresy the traitor forces effectively end a period of progress for human civilization and start a new dark age that spans the entire galaxy and lasts over 10,000 years (you may have noticed the subtitle of the game is Age of Darkness). It sounds like you're a cretin and all of your ideas about warhammer are memes.

I wish what you were saying was right nowadays, maybe it was it at one point, but nowadays we have tyranids killing marines in cinematic trailers and chaos gods torturing people and returned primarchs being doomers. I don't care that it's called "the age of darkness," darkness is made all the more obvious when contrasted with light, which leads me to conclude that HH should have more light in it, and I thought it did, at least looking in from the outside. I mean, that's the point of grimdark, you cannot have darkness without heavy amounts of light to contrast against it, otherwise it's just satanic nihilist nonsense. Again, doesn't chaos literally lose at the end of the heresy? The Emperor dies, sure, but in an obi-wan sort of way, i.e. "I shall become more powerful than you can imagine." He does ascend to godhood, after all, whereas before he was just a godlike man trapped in mortal form. And brings about a 10,000 year golden age for humanity, though it is lesser than the golden age of the Great Crusade, so maybe more of a silver age before the grimderp of 40k sets in at the end of those 10,000 years

>Death is all around us now: the death of the body, the death of the spirit, but most of all the death of hope.
>Book 1 Betrayal
The only hope both sides have is to reach Terra before the other does and that once the last battle of the heresy is fought there is enough of an imperium left to make this civil war worth it(spoilers, even during the middle of it there isn't).

PreHH Emps did his utmost to stomp out faith to the point that there are several imperial bodies whose only purpose is cutting religion out of newly assimilated cultures and ensuring it never takes root up again. These are as follows:
the iterator corps, who attain their main purpose through propaganda
the order elucidatum, who do it either through assassination or by mass murder
the legions who stomp out religion on sight and in some cases execute the followers like some luna wolves were discussing in the first book
the imperial army which while it has some proto-imperial cultists is staunchly anti-religion
the mechanicum which doesn't recognize any other religion other than theirs and even then there are already some examples of magi moving away from religion like the whole magma city debacle
You know who has faith? The WB.

>there's no hope
Fuck, HH is grimderp too!??? Do the writers just hate 40k??? Do they just fucking hate that they made a setting designed to be the ultimate heroic power fantasy?? Do they even know what genre they're writing in? It's like the starship troopers movie or helldivers 2, where the writers hate the source material/power fantasy but accidentally strengthen it, except here they keep trying to weaken it over and over but can't remove it entirely because it would jeopardize sales. Fuck GW. Why do you consume this slop and just tolerate it? Most of the internet accepts 40k as hopeful and faith-fueled, but it feels like everyone who actually plays 40k/HH is some nihilistic death cultist who wants there to be grimdark grimdark grimdark with zero hope or reason to keep going, and want space marines to be disposable chumps who die by the dozen to make the bad guys look scarier. That's worfing. The trope people hate. And you are defending it.
>>
Bad bait but you got one.
>>
>>98543029
Book 1 is the forgeworld book for the game that started this general. If we want to use BL's canon then it's quite woke with plenty of women in command positions because out of setting they couldn't really fit them in as marines so you get plenty of ship captains or other important characters. It also is more grimderp, quite on the silly end of it certain times like the entire book where a bunch of shattered legions guys accomplish nothing other than getting picked off by dinos and maybe calling the nids in our galaxy. It has less hope because the traitors despite losing a lot aren't really affected by it and sometimes they go through a lot of loyalist characters. It has some faith but those are the worst bits of the books, the john grammaticus parts.

That's funny because some of the helldivers 2 devs play ligma, one of them even did a homebrew nids list before abandoning after a couple of revisions. As for why I still stick to a system that has bad miniatures, awful fluff and quite frankly shitty rules that make 1st edition AoS look incredible is because I hate myself and want to remind myself of that everytime I'm not working so there is that. With the years HH only got worse unlike AoS which I've heard is quickly becoming one of GW's greatest systems that's currently being sold so if you want a wargame that fits your description as a faith-fuelled hopeful thingamajig with good books and miniatures you could play that.
>>98543094
That sounds like a waste of money, every time he's going online to check what's new and what's going to come out he's going to have to be reminded of the grimderp and the miniatures aren't even that good. He wouldn't have those problems if he collected something else.

Nah, 4th edition AoS is easily the best it has ever been. Personally I quite like what they are doing with their marines, they aren't grimderp, they look good and do fulfill the power fantasy well enough.
>>
>>98543045
You seem to have both incorrect assumptions about what space marines are and also have the reddit tier idea that having guys pummel enemies who are not threats to them makes them look cool, and are also oblivious to the fact that space marines have to fight something and that the things the trailers a made for are 2 army sets where the non-marine army is the one getting a range refresh so both are being marketed. I think you just are not grasping what you're looking at.

>Again, doesn't chaos literally lose at the end of the heresy?

FUCK no they dont. If anything, LORGAR fucking wins hands down, because at the end of the day, the imperium ends up following his first book to a fucking T and goes against every single thing the E tried to push humanity away from. Sure, it ends up feeding into his NEW plan, but in the end, Lorgar was fucking right and ruined everything E was trying to do. Chaos bought themselves more than enough time to pick a NEW warmaster and set shit up in every corner of the galaxy instead of just a few places and a straight line to terra.

Imperium "won" the battle while chaos set the pieces for the WAR.

No, the imperium SURVIVES the heresy. Horus does not win, there is no dark and terrible chaos empire ruled by a 5th chaos god or whatever. But the imperium is about as alive as the emperor past that point. A bloated carcass that survives till 40k through inertia. The dream is dead, there is no hope for recovery or whatever the emperor had in his crack pipe, theres only stagnation and degradation until eventually you run out of worlds you can afford to lose.

30k is about how hope dies, about how the dream of galactic conquest went tits up and the imperium became the "grimderp" place you cry about. Its about the emperors ambition and "necessary measures" getting him to that point.

>>98543202
I don't see how it's Lorgar's win if the imperium ends up adopting a creed that he was trying to eradicate. The fact that he was the originator of the creed, and that his turning against the Imperium is what pushed it to embrace those beliefs after he had sworn them off, doesn't make him look any more like a winner. It looks like he committed a cataclysmic self-own. You can say this is what the Dark Gods wanted, but this was definitely not what Lorgar had in mind.
>>
>>98543045
Warhammer is a two player game. In order for space marines to have things to fight and every game not to be a loyalist vs loyalist mirror match not only do people have to play the baddies, but significantly more people need to play the baddies than play space marines so they sell those. I know you may not be emotionally ready for this, but you will lose games to bad guy armies, so if that sounds like you would find that upsetting warhammer may not be for you.

The Liber Chaotica that came out in 2005 is the first sourcebook that fleshed out most of the unexplored Black Crusades. Again, most were presented as victories.

So, it's not something new. Of Course, some Imperial sources has cope about the Imperials saying they won. Imperials do that all the time. Remember when the Imperium said that they won the Damocles Crtusade when they achieved zero goals or objectives?

Its really not because it never actually activates. Think about it, what is the number one prime slot that people always take? Vets or Master SGT which pushes your ld up by 1.
Now think in the actual game, is there anything in the game with enough fear to drop your Leadership that is already more then likely at a +1 or at 8 or above base due to being elite or a character in there, that can drop your LD down to 6.
The answer is there is not, there are only i think 2 models with Fear 3 on them? One is a primarch and the other is a named character.
In all my games of 3.0 i have never once seen the Dark angels legion trait ever kick into effect.
>>
>>98543469
>Becuase the legion trait for DA is pretty pointless
Its not pointless, its actually pretty damn strong. Its just "Not flashy" or very "feelsgood".

The DA legion trait kicks in when things are bad, and makes them less bad/caps out how bad they can get. Theyre good at losing combat and holding, or not running when phosphex starts flying. These are good qualities, but theyre not "fun" qualities because no one wants to be in the situation where they are necessary or beneficial, and theyre not so necessary or beneficial that it ceases to be a bad place to be.
>>
>>98543510
I don't, because it is limited on both ends.
Bolters required mass shooting to do any work, and bonus to melee is something the World Eaters had for decades without complaint.
>>
>>98543517
>when it kicks in.
Which is almost never, and even when it does its not makign a difference because the squad it more then likely is going to activate on is either a throw away or dead anyways.

The DA trait takes so many specific things for it to actually work because there is not many things in the game that is going to effect you to LD6 via fear.

>>98543522
If you dont think the IF and DA traits from 2.0 were asininely broken then i have to assume you either played them, or never played 2.0 against them because its was fucking stupid how good they were for literally no extra cost.

It works in combat anon. Also phosphex.
There are also NO models with fear(3), curze and sevatar are fear(2) and so is some admech dude I think (scoria?) and thats it.

But once again: it works in combat, it means that when you get charged and lose half your unit the other half has a 42%~ chance to stand and hold no matter what. Its less big now that being run down is just another round of combat instead of instant death, but its still very valuable, since statuses are a pretty big deal.

Why the fuck do people defend this? And it's not like you can avoid this, someone will play these models against you and you will be forced to witness how atrociously grimderp they are. They look like horror movie villains or something who worship literal demons with those fucking needless skulls. I hate grimdark so much

Its also the case of you gotta take specific shit to go outta your way in order to get the units that can use phosphex.
Leviathen? Gotta burn a prime slot, or a aux to get it.
Rapiers? need to also take a siege breaker
Arquitors? Turbo expensive.

I would say the only thing regarding DA is i do think they should have gotten some form of their wing buffs back as prime slots. That to me seemed like a better trade, even if it cost points. I look at the Tsons and think thats how it should hve worked.
Make it like a LD check that the Squad SGT had to make and if he failed it, he did not get ot shoot or attack that turn.
>>
>>98543568
I think they COULD have done essentially what the mechanicum got. One apex detachment per wing, the apex gives the crazy prime benefits that admech get with their special ones. (Some say a prime benefit for the deathwing prime slot that gives all "sword of the order" trait weapons +1 to hit or whatever). But that system would have its own issues, namely it would mean you couldnt mix wings and that you would have like eight pages of rules for the legion trait for one legion (and be a nightmare to balance).

I wish Malcadors were a new design, rather than an obsolete one. That it was a sort of Super Russ that would lead smaller tanks in breaking enemy lines, and it has Improved Engines for that very reason.
Being advanced, they also needed specialized parts and maintenance that end up being lost 10k years later, so Malcadors are slow in 40k because they are stuck in 1st Gear.

Nope. Just an old design. That's all the background fluff there is

>>
>>98545759
Russ to me seems like the Imperium just decided that it was a 'good enough' tank. Easy to use, rugged, can use damn near anything as fuel, tons of variants, and presumably cheaper to produce than the malcador to arm a galactic-scale military with. Versus the malcador where we only see a couple of different variants, it has a weird casemate turret design that is an acknowledged in-universe design pain point, and clearly it's engine is very tempermental.

And besides, even if the malcador is 'obsolete', I'm sure plenty of them were used by the Army during the heresy, just based off of the sheer scale of it. My assumption is that the malcador simply fell out of favor in comparison to the russ and the existing stocks were mothballed.

What backpack fits with thunder armour? It's the old school RB01 style backpack for mk1-3? I thought the old 1998 zerkers used that backpack but they don't. I swear I have that style backpack somewhere but it's probably needed for whatever model it came from :(

>Easy to use, rugged, can use damn near anything as fuel, tons of variants, and presumably cheaper
Sounds like a damn good deal to me. The Malcador does get double the firepower and faster, but pays for it with more mechanical complexity than two Russes put together.
So, it's a special applications tank, not an obsolete design. Eh.

Same with the Kratos. Kratos rather looks more at home with the Imperial Army because it is heavy and slow (M8"). But marines just HAD to have their own Baneblade, even though they already have the Glaive.
>>

Gluing things onto other things is the foundation of this hobby, and also of real-world tank design.

It doesent. It doesent share design language with either the SA or later IG. Its closest design relative is the sicaran (because whats basically what it is, a very big sicaran).

It also lacks what makes a baneblade "a baneblade", which is the double "big gun" element. The marine baneblade is the fellblade (duh), which does have that.

>>
>>98545998
Have you not read its lore? The kratos was made in the period where marine tactics boiled down to marching infantry formations, anchored by armoured support. The kratos is glacially slow, because it was only expected to move at the same pace as marines moving at combat pace.
As the legions' tactics evolved to more mobile and fluid strategies, other tanks were created like the sicaran to be more suited to the new style of warfare.

On buildings I at least found a use for my grim vaping addiction. The boxes are perfectly sized for epic scale commieblocks or skyscrapers. I just have to cover them in thicker card, cut out windows and doors out of the card (so they are reassessed) then coat the outer card in very fine sand (for basic texture) or a thicker application of 90s GW sand/PVA filler for some "its grimdark up north" roughcast/pebbledash cladding.I'm still making a prototype.

> I thought the old 1998 zerkers used that backpack but they don't.
Those used a chaosified version of the above. Although in reality they were released in 1994 for 2nd ed. CSM and later FW reimagined for MK2/3 how they original would have looked.

Yes. These things clearly weren't designed with a turret ring in mind, so it makes sense that the Malcador with its casemate cannon came later. A compromise to cover the need for tanks because there wasn't any other option.

The Dracosan, or a pre-Solar Auxilia version of it, is probaby the oldest variant of the chassis. If you think about it, it clearly fits the "Explorator" vehicle role that we're told was common during the Dark Age of Technology among low tech colonists.
