Whats your specialty and why?
>>98539018Elder Scrolls style tonal architecture that allows you to cast spells by singing through modulating frequencies.
>>98539003>How many dots in Occult (actual occult or game lore) do you have? Whats your specialty and why?I am probably Religion 2, Occult 1 in real life. For game, depending on the splat, I am around Occult 3-4
>>98539003>How many dots in Occult (actual occult or game lore) do you have?4, was about to buy 5 but the campaign ended when the ST had to get operated due to appendicitis.>Whats your specialtyDivination and assorted blood magic doohickery>and why?Dude joined a Wicca coven to score pussy, managed to impress the covert Verbena witch running the show by being the only one who actually understood the occult stuff.
>>98539003>TQI'm working with about... 2 dots currently. Specialty is kindred, since I'm running a Princess that wants to cure her older sister of the Curse of Caine. Well, former Princess. She lost her light a couple sessions ago. Now I'm doing some weird homebrew shit tacked onto Princess the Hopeful, basically she's staving off dethronement or falling with spite and will (and by fusing light and dark).Anyway, you guys got any fun antagonists? I'm currently making this dork as a Cataphract that wants to exterminate the fera (They may like Gaia more, but moon cultists get the bullet anyway.)
>>98539012>>98538962Ecstatic that does it just for the thrill of it.
>>98539003Like a solid 2 dots. I know the common myths and legends and the stuff they show on TV + use in books as inspiration. Nothing deeper than that though.Speciality in Greek stuff.
>>98539003>TQ Occult 2 at best I'd say. People often underestimate how much a dot is supposed to represent. Four dots is an elite professional and five is world-class.
>>98538883See this is what im talking about. Why not an Etherite who flies because he suffuses his body with Ether & becomes lighter than air or maybe he chants some tonal waves & this allows him to fly?>>98538838Yeah, I guess I just want less tech based Etherite, less gadgets & more scientific mysticism? Idk>>98538816Milo would be pretty close Rourke is a pulp villain, not a hero but yes, theyre on the same wavelength
>TQI actually used to be really into the occult and studied magic as a kid. I have a spellbook that I copied by hand from select excerpts that I sometimes use as a prop. Probably four dots; I don't habitually read books on magic anymore, but I still like talking about it and finding spells and occult traditions written in historical records is my favorite part.
I wrote an entire multi-splat roadtrip consisting of outcasts from each. They all met in prison, escape, and now are on a cross-country roadtrip in a shitty RV
>>98539003>How many dots in Occult (actual occult or game lore) do you have? ...Occult 6.>Whats your specialtyMy IRL specialties would be Alchemy and Demonology.>and why?I'm autistic and fell down the worldbuilding rabbithole at one point. I got hyperfocused on reading up on IRL occult shit for inspiration. Before I knew it 6 years were gone and I could probably qualify for a PHD in occult studies.
Real oldhead here, I heart New World of Darkness is dead now? Also what's Beast and Deviant? Can someone bring me up to speed?
>>98539167Beast is about playing as a primordial embodiment of fear. It is CTD but utterly sociopathic and written by a rapist.Deviant is pretty cool tho. Reminds me of OG Kamen Rider, in that it's sort of CTL but with human conspiracies turning you into an abomination and you struggling to retain your humanity
>>98539167New-WoD/Chronicles got shitcanned during the production of WoD5 because paradox didn't want to have anything competing with V5.WoD5 did so poorly and Bloodlines 2 was a 40 million dollar failure, so paradox shitcanned it to make a new 6th edition starting with Vampire 6th, Mage 6th, and Changeling 6th.First alpha of V6 is such hot garbage it fixed 30 years of fanbase schisms in universal hatred of WoD6.
>>98539167New World of Darkness was rebranded to Chronicles of Darkness. Chronicles was eventually killed to frankenstein World and Chronicles together into a bad game that is once again called World of Darkness despite once again being explicitly not the classic World of Darkness.Beast is about playing a nightmare monster possessing a human and trying to integrate into human society while keeping yourself fed. It lacks a clear throughline and the game's conflict is entirely based around social tension. Very crossover-focused, multiple Beasts actually prevent each other from getting stronger past a certain point. Highly contentious.Deviant is about playing a lab experiment. There's a supplement that shifts the power balance so you can play as a superhero, though. Universally popular, but was released just before the game got axed, and so its only supplement was released on a technically third party website called the Storyteller's Vault, where the developers (and some fans) published books for World and Chronicles without needing Paradox's approval.
More spiders again in Spacebattles. Well, kind of. There's actually only vampires and werewolves this time because it's an interlude chapter.
>>98539200>>98539215>>98539243Damn, any chance NWoD is ever coming back or being continued?>look up Beast>it was literally made by a rapistlmao yeah alright, that'll kill a game line. Surprised Deviant came out at all
>>98539257CoD was never as popular nor brought as much money as WoD did, so chances are theyre just gonna keep trying with WoD over and over
>>98539257It's possible that new supplements will come out on STV, but I'd only one more book for Deviant, and anything else would likely be for VtR. There is zero percent chance of a renewal or official continuation until they let go of the brand, but you can continue to play the content that exists.Beast is actually even weirder than that. It was made by a bunch of novices with little oversight from the experienced staff members and no communication, so when the playtest dropped and was near universally panned, it was handed back to the guy ostensibly running the project to fix it in like 48 hours. One of the senior writers wanted his name pulled from the book, but was told if he did that they wouldn't greenlight him to write Changeling (I think it was Dreaming 20th specifically). It was a game that was basically designed to bomb because they didn't give a shit about the property. Him being a rapist turns out not to even have been related to the game despite how incredibly rapey it came out to be. It was absolutely what got him fired and blacklisted from the industry, though; he didn't even try to deny he did it and mostly acted confused that anyone cared or like if he ignored it then it would blow over.
>>98539243Ew
>>98539299>>98539289>>98539243>>98539215It's a shame because CTL is honestly so much better than the Dreaming that it's unreal, at least in my eyes.
>>98539306Sorry about your blindness.
>>98539306I overall prefer the CoD splats over their WoD homonims, Werewolf and Mage being the only exceptions
>>98539306CtL is banal.
Which splat is best if I want to play a Silent Hill esque game where you face (and maybe play as) monsters and environments based on trauma and hardship? CtL? HtV? Maybe MtAs or WtA with their spirits and Fomori? Wraith? I'm miserable and need to focus that into something creative for the next 2 years or else I'll go insane.
How do you idiots keep falling for the same bait over and over again? Am I stuck in this thread with a bunch of actual bots?
>>98539312I honestly prefer VTM over VTR lore-wise.>>98539326What bait?
>>98539326Anon this is 4chan we have been rehashing the same discussions over and over again for over 20 years.
>>98539243>Universally popularIs it really? I love Deviant but I would not call it 'popular' by any stretch of the word, most people don't even know it exists or what's it about. Beloved, maybe, but not popular sadly
>>98539339I've never heard a bad word about it. Well-received is how I usually phrase it, if you like that more.
>>98539323W:tO is a game about misery and trauma but no-one plays it do don't bother looking for a game.M:tA is also a good choice as Seekings are very dreamscape and strange in nature, the game is about achieving a personal Ascension of sorts, understanding yourself and your part in the world at large.
>>98539326What are your preferred subjects when it comes to WoD and CofD? What are you actually here to discuss? What do you actually want to read and what do you actually have an interest in talking about when it comes to the subject of this general? To spice things up, no snide negatives like "I want to read anything other than this bait." Tell us what your actual interests relevant to the general are.Others are also welcome to answer, but I'm more interested in the response of this anon in particular.
>>98539306My nigga.>>98539312I definitely prefer Forsaken to Apocalypse, and I also dislike both versions of Mage. I don't dislike Requiem, but I prefer Masquerade to a moderate degree. I prefer blending the two
I just do a unified setting that combines elements from multiple editions of both COfD, WOD, and also a bunch of fan works.I call it, IDK, Saga of Darkness
>>98539246Why are Ananasifags like this? I thought it was the Wyld that created stuff
>>98539132At least the British monarchy is rich and basically enjoying themselves. Soul King is a dissected, carved-out living corpse.
>>98539372> I prefer blending the two Elaborate?
>>98539372I've actually added some Requiem to Masquerade, but only a few things, which had to be tweaked slightly. For Werewolf, however, I've always been entirely preferential to Apocalypse. Sell me on Forsaken.
I had a video game idea:XCOM but in WoD.You play as the commander of the Coalition where you recruit Hunters from various organizations all over the world and you direct them to fight the supernaturals.I'd call it Hunter: the Reckoning Inquisition.
>>98539406Hunter: the Vigil: Reckoning V -- Hunters Hunted.
>>98539411World of Darkness : Hunter: the Vigil: Reckoning V -- Hunters Hunted Extended Edition feat. Dante from Devil May Cry series.
>>98539370I'm interested in VtM, HtV, and CtL primarily. I have some interest in WtF and VtR. My personal obscure favorite is nWoD blue books and the stuff in them. I could talk about that, and Vigil, ad nauseum. I'm the guy who's offering advice and feedback to any Vigilfag that talks about their game. I definitely have some strong opinions but at this point I don't want to argue about them anymore because it's just the same script over and over again.I like gameposts, but don't really respond to any that aren't in my wheelhouse, and even then only if I have something to add. But I remember the good ones. I'm definitely going to steal the Lucifuge K9 officer idea I saw a while back. I share my own stories sometimes but they don't really get replies so I do that less and less now. Mostly just to throw bakeslave a bone if I have a relevant answer to the TQ. When it comes to lorefagging, I like to discuss possibilities and theories rather than canon or metaplot. It's much more interesting that way, and dynamic too. I've seen the "hey guys I live under a rock what's going on with (edition war bait)" routine enough times that I got mad and decided to head it off with my own incendiary statement. I still remember that period where we had a new person asking about V5 once every week despite the IP being in that build-up to Bloodlines 2 dead zone. It's not a "you're discussing something I don't like reeeee" situation, it's a "oh this looks like bait that I recall ruining threads" situation.
>>98539395Forsaken is basically WTA but the Garou are neither eco terrorists, assholes, or doomed.…So not really Garou at all.Uratha’s deal is basically telling spirits to fuck off
>>98539446oh and forgot Geist the Sin Eaters. I like that one too but I am not the most knowledgeable about it. I ran one shorter game of it that was fairly fast and loose.
>>98539406You know what would be fun ? Werewolf beat em up. You would not have to change anything, you dont need any deep justification for what the fuck is happening. You are just a cool werewolf and you throw trucks into nuclear reactors because mommy earth is crying. Put in a scene of a black fury protag castrating pentex executive by smashing his balls with her furry werewolf feet and it might even become a cult classic.
>>98539455>I ran one shorter game of it that was fairly fast and loose. What was it about? Share, share.
>>98539454Uratha more like Urethra LOL
>>98539478lmao
>>98539394I posted a breakdown like two threads ago, lemme repost it. >The Night Horrors: Wicked Dead pseudo-vampires make appearances and serve to spice up local politics or provide additional antagonists as the plot requires.>Strix are folded into the Abyss, and are often the first type of abyssal creature that are manifested. While most of the Abyss is pelagic, the Birds of Dis occupy its uppermost reaches nesting in rocky outcroppings above a roiling inky black sea.>Mekhet are a "lost" clan, descended from the Antediluvian of the same name. There are fewer of them than most bloodlines, and their existence is largely unknown.>The Brothers of Ypres are a stabilized Caitiff lineage turned micro-bloodline, reworked their origin slightly so that Jones was actually embraced by Nomadic Sabbat who were working their way through the trenches. I'd consider doing this a few more times but I don't know enough requiem bloodlines and only the Brothers have piqued my interest so far. >Syncretized the Circle of the Crone with Lilith worshippers, and use Cruac rituals + a handful of Thaum paths that are thematic (curses, weather control, green path) to form a more coherent Bahari blood sorcery style.>Brought over Requiem Gargoyles, to avoid confusion everyone calls them Children of the Stones or Blood Golems. Tremere Gargoyles still exist, but are considered crude by many high Elders and Methuselah.>>98539395>Sell me on Forsaken. If you like Apoc, I don't really know if I can. I like Forsaken precisely because it removes or distances itself from a lot of the Apoc stuff I dislike. It feels like, for lack of a better term, a second draft of the Spirit Warrior Werewolf that's not tied to a very 90s vision of the green movement. Also the big draw is a more diverse roster of antagonists. Despite technically having room for more, Apoc is very "oops all wyrmshit". And even the wyrmshit is Pentex 80% of the time.
>>98539455Geist honestly feels undercooked. Like it's a cool idea, but half the text is just jacking off to Die de los Muertos and by the end of the book you realize Geists don't actually have a purpose or really at all much to get up to.
Werewolf blogger here. My game's in 3 hours.Amber the hobo goth girl died last game, so her player is making a new character today. Her name's Lucine, or Bathe-in-Moonlight. She's a early 20s, 4'10" Glasswalker Metis (albino) as well as a Philodox. Also a master at wielding shotguns, and owns an IT tech company staffed by her kinfolk.I wanna know how to prepare having a Philodox, and a Glasswalker in the game. What should I give them? What should I and the group be expecting of them?
>>98539495>Despite technically having room for more, Apoc is very "oops all wyrmshit". And even the wyrmshit is Pentex 80% of the time. While Ive had Pentex as the main antagonist in my story so far Ive tried to spice things up with the addition of vampires
>>98539495Honestly, that’s why I like Forsaken. The Wyrm is a neat antagonist, but it’s way too prevalent
>>98539406Vampire Immersive Sim RPG with sex voicework, animation, writing, and immersion. Bloodlines but not shit like BL2.Werewolf character action game with different tribes having different weapons like Ninja Gaiden BlackMage CRPG like Disco Elysium with a ton of dialogueChangeling Puzzle Exploration Game ala Outer WildsWraith Third Person Survival Horror>>98539464Earthblood but not shit with bland combat that barely mentions the setting.
>>98539446Based on the games that you didn't mention as ones that interest you and the absence of discussion surrounding most of the games that you are interested in excluding Vampire the Masquerade it seems that you rarely initiate discussion about your CofD interests. Why is that? Do you just sit around waiting for people to post about VtM and CofD so that you can reply to them? Why don't you push these threads in your preferred direction more actively?
>>98539506SEXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIdk, sorry. Never found people to play Woof with. Just wanted to hornypost.
>>98539538Here’s what I would doWerewolf: Ninja GaidenChangeling The Lost: TurgorUhhh
I don't want to sound conspiratorial or anything, but if you translate each letter to it's numerical position in the alphabet bakeslave adds up to the same number as the word hedgefagMake of that what you will.
>>98539495>If you like Apoc, I don't really know if I can.Honestly, the traditional monster that murders actual monsters is a fantasy that heavily appeals to me, so I like Apocalypse a lot. Hunter doesn't actually appeal to me, though, because it misses the point by pretending that killing random people can make the world a better place. It's the Punisher thing, where even at his best he's just contributing to a system designed to hurt people and not actually helping anyone. That's why I like Vigil more; it turns Hunters into a business with complex motivations and conflicting interests instead of ethically dubious vigilante justice.
>>98539550No worry. Once I told her that I post about my games here and that Amber was the favourite among the group she decided to make this one to please you guys. I jokingly told her that making Lucine the height of a 10 yo was probably a good move.
>>98539581NTA but I feel the thing that always turned me off from WTA was how pants on head retarded the Garou’s culture is.Like, how the fuck are you supposed to write a compelling character
>>98539605You have to either be one of the few Garou actually trying to fix shit or you RP as a retard
>>98539506Glass Walkers usually swing between great support and great ranged attacker. Like, a decade ago my chronicle had a very ranged focused Glass Walkers. Full on Boom Boom as his totem, Gifts for guns like infinite ammo and umbral sniping. Dude was the deadliest Werewolf in a game with a Get of Fenris Ahroun.
>>98539546ntw but I've been posting pretty regularly about my upcoming WtF game and getting zero replies. CofD draws very little attention here outside of "should I run Hunters Hunted or HtV?" unless it's a niche discussion about something like Geist.>>98539395As others have said, removing the apocalyptic antagonist means you can focus on other threats. As the Garou, why wouldn't you be devoting all of your time to combatting the Wyrm? Forsaken encourages you to choose any antagonist you like, and places the narrative thrust instead on the act of actually hunting these threats down. Who/what they are isn't as important as the fact that you are hunting them. There's additional worldbuilding stuff that separates the Garou and Uratha, but the most important difference is that of focus and intent.
>>98539289>theyre just gonna keep trying with WoD over and overWhich WoD? Because they sure as shit isn't trying with oWoD.
>>98539614I dont know much about WtF so I either didnt know what to say or didnt notice your posts
>>98539395>>98539454>Forsaken is basically WTA but the Garou are neither eco terrorists, assholes, or doomed. While broadly true, this statement isn't entirely accurate. It's easy to forget since they're the protagonost faction, but Forsaken are barely 1/4th of the entire Uratha population. The books are explicit in saying that Pure outnumber them 3 to 1 or more. The landscape feels much different because there's entire tribes now that act in more or less reasonable fashion as opposed to Apocalypse where the protagonists were usually the outnumbered voice of reason within their tribe. Obviously there's bad apples in the Forsaken tribes, nobody's a saint here, but again, there's at least factional/institutional support for being a Reasonable Werewolf™. Plus, they do sometimes have to commit acts that are harmful to humans in order to maintain the spiritual balance of the local area, on top of wetting the odd witness who didn't forget everything even after suffering Lunacy.Lastly, the Forsaken are still fighting an uphill, possibly losing war, because their sworn enemies outnumber them and have stronger spiritual bennies, the Hosts are an eternal game of whack-a-mole where one missed egg means all the blood spilled and friends lost in the battle were for nothing, and then there's the Bale Hounds plus their masters the Maeljin, and the massive blind spot that are the Idigam.
>>98539614>ntw but I've been posting pretty regularly about my upcoming WtF game and getting zero replies. CofD draws very little attention here outside of "should I run Hunters Hunted or HtV?" unless it's a niche discussion about something like Geist.Honestly, I get that.CofD being more of a toolset than a set setting makes it so that there isn't much discussion to be had when every ST has their own worlds. At most you get discussion on the toolset itself. Like "based Pure" or the classic "spiritual ICE"
>>98539581>Hunter doesn't actually appeal to me, though, because it misses the point by pretending that killing random people can make the world a better place. It's the Punisher thing, where even at his best he's just contributing to a system designed to hurt people and not actually helping anyone.Wym-stinking hands typed this post on a Pentex-owned keyboard.
>>98539636But I want to kill the people who own and operate Pentex. That's not random, and it does help.
>>98539649Whoa Luigi, when did you get wi-fi in your cell?
>>98539633>CofD being more of a toolset than a set setting makes it so that there isn't much discussion to be had when every ST has their own worlds. If that were true nobody would ever have an incentive to share stories of their campaign. Nobody would ever bother posting about Their Dudes.
>>98539503>Your Sin-Eater probably has unresolved issues tied to their death to deal with.>Your Sin-Eater's Geist has unresolved issues tied to their death to deal with.>Your Sin-Eater will have to juggle their personal goals with those of their Geist.>Your Sin-Eater is a magnet for ghosts who want them to resolve their issues.>Your Sin-Eater may still have connections to other mortals that matter to them.>Your Sin-Eater will probably want to acquire connections and power in the Underworld to help them with their goals.>Your Sin-Eater will probably have opinions about the state of the Underworld and want to side with certain factions there.>Ultimately your Sin-Eater will have to choose to pursue Catharsis (perfect fusion with their Geist and the opportunity to move on to a true afterlife) or Cabeiros (absolute domination and consumption of their Geist to become a Chthonic God of the Underworld) or potentially try to bring about Catabasis (overthrowing the Chthonic Gods in a revolution of the Underworld and transforming it according to the Krewe's ethos).I don't know, I think GtSE is pretty solid. Its Underworld is less solid than Wraith's, but that's because doing shit in the mortal world is much more important than it is in Wraith, due to Geist's focus on balance between life and death.
>>98539473The game was set in Bone Creek, New Mexico, a fictional small town in Northeast New Mexico, close-ish to the Texas border but not on it. Originally a frontier trading post, it was slowly suffering the ignoble death that has come to many American small towns starting in the late 20th century. Though in the late 2010s and very beginning of the 2020s, it came back to life. Figuratively. One thing people miss about the recent house price crisis is that right before it reached a boiling point, there was a not insignificant exodus out of certain population centers back into the countryside. It's saved a lot of towns and counties, but fears of gentrification and political capture are valid. Nevertheless, Bone Creek was one of these stories, in stark opposition to the rest of the state. The scenic mountain probably helped. But more than the town has been coming back to life. For whatever reason, the town has created four Sin-Eaters in less than a year. The barrier between the underworld and the real world is not just thin here, it's thinning. The PCs were those Sin Eaters, investigating the phenomenon in the town and attempting to find a fix for it before the ghosts choke the streets and kill their home a second time. The fast and loose parts were both with parts of GTSE lore (their geists were just the actual ghosts of people who had died, and that if they went through the process of helping said ghost pass on, they could return to being normal mortals at the end of the Chronicle.)>>98539503See I don't like the games that give you a built-in "purpose". Needlessly narrows the scope. There's a lot that can be done with "I'm back from the dead, but with a ghost grafted to my soul". Even just doing the Ghost Whisperer with Stand battles can make for a fun chronicle conceit.
>>98539665Honestly, I feel like the Krewes are too nebulous. People often feel confused about what they're supposed to be and do.
>>98539546Man, you're assuming a lot based on one post I made at the beginning of the thread. Cut the armchair psychology, I already explained why I posted it and it wasn't out of "you're talking about something I don't like ree". I like gameposts primarily, but I've posted conversation starters before. You're overthinking it. >>98539614>ntw but I've been posting pretty regularly about my upcoming WtF game and getting zero replies.Wait, which game is this? If you're the britbong one I know I've been responding to your posts. Maybe I missed one, especially with how these threads move relatively fast, people can miss a thread or even several.
>>98539596In my defense, I'm a Euro so I had no idea how much 4'10'' is, and couldn't be bothered to check. But now that I did, damn, ~147 cm is crazy for a grown-ass woman
>>98539665One small thing that bothers my autism is language. How do you communicate with your Geist, and how do ghosts of different eras communicate in the Underworld? I don't think the game says anything about it.
>>98539633>"based Pure"I don't actually think they're based, but I am proud of my ability to shill a few other anons on how fun they can be.
>>98539612I see. Well she told me that she put Firearms at 5 with a specialty in shotguns. For now they are all rank 1.Also I’m wondering how much renown, if any, I should award to the group for their last fight. Four garous against 6 bikers with shotguns (one of them was selling vitae infused cocaine). One of the garou died and two others are on the verge of death at 6 aggravated. Last one is unarmed I think (at least no agg damage). Also from now on I’m considering assigning them a DMPC just for extra muscle.
How about fanmade splats? Tried any? Any that are good?
My biggest issue with chronicles isn't the lore(or lack there of in many spots), it's the way they double down on the pretentious nameing conventions of classic wod to the point of parody.Take "Vampire: the Requiem" for examle. The fuck is a "Requiem"? It's a vague reference to the ennui of being a vampire and doesn't actually matter to the setting despite how much the writers try to force it as something important. It's the same issue as "Reckoning" in hunter 5, there is no actual "Reckoning" with the imbued gone. Compare vs "Vampire: the Masquerade". What the fuck is a "Masuerade"? It's the in-universe law that all vampires must hide or the vampire government will fucking dust you. The vampire government does this because humanity outnumbers vampires 1,000 to 1 and will easily wipe them the fuck out if vampires are revealed. Literally everything in the setting revolves around or is affected by the masquerade to varying degrees, making it The most important plot point in the setting. Thus, the name.
>>98539736How would you fix the naming scheme?
>>98539581>Hunter doesn't actually appeal to me, though, because it misses the point by pretending that killing random people can make the world a better place.Sounds like a shizo skill issue. Normal hunters keep winning.
>>98539736While I disagree with the example you've given, I do agree on the spirit. The fact that every group and term has to have a Word with which they're referred to ends up getting real clunky. I'm sorry Chronicles but 'Variation' is a shit name for what's basically a superpower, and I didn't know what a Clade was until I read it on Deviant for the first time
>>98539581>the Punisher thing>not actually helping anyoneHoly Pentex glowie post. Tell me you don't know shit about the Punisher without telling me you don't know shit about the Punisher
>>98539740I genuinely don't fucking know. Most of the good names were either taken by classic wod already. We also can't re-use names, because 90% of the time cofd removed the metaplot point that would have made the name good. There genuinely might not be any good solutions.
Alright so how would you do a haunted animatronic from a certain game series? Promethean?
>>98539794Nah, Wraith would be the easiest way to explain their weirdness.
>>98539323Mage, Walter is a marauder
>>98539581>another midwit oneshotted by systems thinking

>>98539312The only WoD splat I prefer to CofD is Wraith over Geist. Some game lines like VtM and VtR are pretty even though. I probably would have liked a fully realized DtF over DtD though.
>>98539736My problem with the name "requiem" is the fact it rolls off the tongue like a mouthfull of marbles. "Masquerade" is easier to say even if it's the kind of classy-pretentious you'd expect from a ventrue.
>>98539614>ntw but I've been posting pretty regularly about my upcoming WtF game and getting zero replies. That's pretty normal regardless of the game. People would just much rather sit around and rehash lore or argue than talk about something someone is doing. For what it's worth, I do appreciate you for making those attempts though and have responded at times.
>>98539689The five Krewe archetypes are there to help players design characters around a particular shared perspective and goal, which will help the ST figure out the direction that the game should go in. Mixing archetypes makes a functional krewe a lot harder, since you'll need to figure out what they have in common and why they should work together.Fury Krewes seek justice for ghosts, typically by punishing those responsible for the circumstances that made them ghosts in the first place.Mourner Krewes help the living remember the forgotten ghosts of the Underworld to keep them from withering away into nothing.Necropolitan Krewes bring joy and relief to the ghosts of the Underworld and give them the chance to reconnect with the living.Pilgrim Krewes are more interested in helping ghosts move on for good and move on to the real afterlife, instead of lingering in the Underworld.Undertaker Krewes are more about resolving the troubles of the living before they die, so that they never become ghosts in the first place. Some of these might seem pretty boring or wish-washy. Where's the conflict or stakes for a Necropolitan Krewe, who just want to give ghosts a good time? Then you remember that they'll have to deal with Reapers who seek to drag every ghost into the Underworld, and Gatekeepers who will want to kick their asses for thinning the barrier between life and death, and necromancers and ghost eaters who might want to try and enslave or eat the ghosts that the Necropolitans are guiding to their living relatives.Like most WoD and CofD games, it's just a case of reading through the entire book and figuring out how everything connects together.
Guys I like the spiders I think they are very cool
>>98539633I can half agree with your point, if you overengineer a setting and have to explain it every time you post then you're not helping your case. Ultimately, WoD is more popular. Even when you specify a CofD question, you will get WoD answers a lot of the time. Rehashing old arguments about a largely solved-setting lorewise is easier for responses, like some bizarro Cunningham's Law.>>98539705That's me, I've appreciated the help a lot. We're actually ready to start the campaign next week, the PCs will be escaping a scrapyard-turned prison as the campaign begins with the characters having been kidnapped by the Pure. Not to mention that while I'm currently looking for a solo experience and something to sink into hours and consume lore, I'd like to have actual players sometime.Mage it is, thanks, maybe I can explain the trauma manifestations as Umbral realm or "A Marauder did it". >>98540124No, it's not that, insufferable as magefags can be.I don't care for the consensus and I don't care for hyper-gnostic wizard demiurges. Both versions of Mage make sweeping cosmological declarations that I don't like. Moreover, I don't like the sphere system. I think it's too broad. I understand, in theory, the logic behind a free magic system. It avoids the pitfalls of D&D style Vancian magic but in practice I think it's too broad and permissive, turning a lot of casting into mother may I. There's a reason for the joke about how nobody actually knows how to play mage, they just think they do. Something like Ars Magicka's Noun+Verb is a better compromise I think. I know a lot of people say they prefer Foundations and Pillars but idk enough about it to comment. This isn't to say that I think the Mage/s are without merit as games, just that they really aren't my cup of tea. I could go on but I'm not really in the mood to argue about the merits and finer points of a pair of games that lose me on the very premise.

Even targeting vampires is missing the point, because vampires don't actually have to kill anybody, so you're just using dead bodies to justify hate crimes instead of the institutions that create violence in the first place.
>>98540397It’s neither, killing anything not Wyrm tainted just awards less renown by default. Case in point, killing an untainted archmage has the same renown reward as killing an average formori

>>98540469>Case in point, killing an untainted archmage has the same renown reward as killing an average formoriI like to imagine this is because most lupus and metis can't even Dpell the word archmage, let alone understand how powerful they get. >>98540507Nah, it’s definitely “you’re supposed to be killing wyrmspawn, not random creatures you think might be a fun fight”
>>98540469Obviously. But it still scales in threat. A Master mage is explicitly compared to a Fae Warrior (presumably a Changeling?) or any other Fera in renown. These are not equal threat categories.

You know it would be really funny if W6 starts with the Cult of Fenier having (hopefully metaphorical) nuclear suicide tantrum and the remnants are playable.
Are the traditions even still fighting the technocracy in M20 or is it just trying to subvert the bigger picture by convincing teenagers that magick is real?
>>98540705M20 tried to do away with the crafts by folding them into the Traditions, went back and forth on whether Revised happened for a while, and also pretended the Technocracy isn't totally evil, before ultimately deciding that actually everyone is corrupt and founding your own faction is the only responsible course, despite having also removed any support-base for a new polity. So the Traditions are bad, but they're fighting the Technocracy, who is bad, and new Mages are generally recruited by the Traditions, but you have to gather up the new Mages to make your own Tradition, with blackjack and hookers.
>>98540721To be fair there isn't a single faction in mage that isn't a monstrous jackass at one point or another.I know the faction you are about to mention, they are so monumentally irrelevant they could have been cut from the game and no one would fucking notice in and out of universe.

I don’t like CTD because of “Banality”Same problem with the Wyrm ngl, where despite being a genuinely interesting villain, it’s so omnipresent yet so one note that it just kinda removes its impact and potential for storytelling. Every conflict leads back to the Wyrm or Banality somehow, and I feel that crushes the ability to tell stories. That and the lengths some Changelings go to avoid it can come across as downright sociopathic, but I think that’s by design.
>>98540988>t. Midwit with no sense of nuance or esoteric understandingIf you think seeing the Wyrm as the ultimate Evil is the only way to run a WtA chronicle, that’s a skill issue. Same with CtD. Yes, you have to stave off Banality, but other than that, you’re free to do what you want. Politicking among Noble Houses, going on modern day Arthurian quests, explore the Dreaming, investigate strange incidents, even, may God forgive me for even uttering this, a SoL chronicle.
>>98541027The problem is that it all ties back to Banality.
>>98541027>may God forgive me for even uttering this, a SoL chronicle. What does hunter have to do with CTD?
Lost is more childish than the Dreaming could ever hope to be.>I'll have to grow up eventually, but I can still keep a bit of wonderVS>Nothing is my fault, it's all the True Fae's fault, I'm going to sit in my magical world forever
>>98541114Nice bait, but for the benefit of the uninitiated I'll set the record straight: Consistently neglecting your mortal half (such as, indeed, holing up in Fairyland and never coming back to the mortal world) is a fast track to losing all your Clarity (i.e. sanity) and ending up a drooling schizophrenic or a True Fae
>>98541126Honestly it saddens me that the dreamingfags keep trying to attack Lost just to feel better about themselves. Chill out dude.
>>98541136Nah, I’m a Lost fan but my intrusive thoughts about causing immeasurable suffering to myself via admitting harsh truths simply because I don’t want to be happy with who I am as a person win all the time
>>98541140Like, imagine telling yourself repeatedly “You are going to die alone, nobody loves you, you have no worth, and people will forget you.”My brain does that all the time. I feel an almost pathological need to make myself miserable and I hate it

I know it's a shit time for the soul, what with social atomization wreaking havoc, and I know I'm just another rando on the internet. But fighting it is the best option. How Sots see the average Kithain>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UXTQ5HmpT8
>>98541382I feel the difference is that Caine isn't omnipresent within every conflict. He's the instigator, but not the active threat behind everything
>>98541441Isn't he? He's the Beast in your blood, he's the source of your Disciplines, he's the Curse that keeps you from going out into sunlight, he is the conflict between authority and subordinate. Absolutely everything that a vampire is comes from Caine and you cannot participate in a single conflict without something at least somehow tied to Caine coming up.
The most fun way to play Lost is to have your Seeming/Kith be completely at odds with the kind of person you're playing as.Example>Seeming: Fairest>Kith: Flowering>Actual personality: Tough as nails, martial artist, constantly got into street fights. Mainly because his martial arts are one of the only things he remembers from his old life.
>>98541451I personally disagree. It's not like Caine himself is actively threatening to eat away at you or killing those you love like Banality or the Wyrm are. We're merely suffering the consequences of his actions all those eons ago.
>>98541454The Beast and the thirst for blood are vital parts of the Curse of Caine, so I wouldn't say that's correct.
>>98541188Ah. Yeah she had cut out a niche for herself as a seeress and general mystic woman in pre-Roman Britain, and the Romans invading and basically upending her whole mundane world sent her down a spiral of madness and fatalism, eventually leading to her ascension to True Fae. Beyond that, the details are unclear. What we do know is that she gets her kicks mindbreaking Changelings into believing all is predetermined by fate, by the Wyrd itself, and so they'll join her throng. Misery seemingly loves company, and now as a True Fae, a being of fate and wyrd itself, she thinks she's the only solace Britain's Changelings are going to get. So she causes calamity to drive changelings into her arms. Yeah, batshit crazy is accurate.
>>98541294If only it was interesting to actually play rather than shit on it.
>>98541459I love that shit>Remembers her human life>Why would she care when this is more fun?IDK, that sounds neat.
>>98541458Those are still just consequences of his actions rather than an active threat within the game.
>>98541452Just one issue, you need to come up with a reason for why a True Fae saw fit to turn someone into something complete at odds with what they are. Why would a True Fae turn a tough as nails martial artist into Flowering Fairest? If the answer is "for shit at giggles, for the irony of subverting someone's identity entirely," then you end up with effectively the same True Fae every time.
>>98540801By making populations big enough to sustain that many Vampires in the first place.Jokes aside their influence not being there would butterfly most of the 2000s horrors on way or the other, at the cost of everyone being in a mediocre situation.
>>98541470The Jyhad is also a manifestation of the Curse of Caine, which is what the conflict with the Antediluvians, between elder and neonate, and between sects revolves around. When basically every meaningful threat to a vampire's existence in the game comes directly or indirectly from the Curse of Caine, it's hard to say that it isn't omnipresent in every conflict, as an extension of Caine.
>>98539003
>>98541414
>>98541472Because he's was a bit of a prettyboy who also liked growing flowers I guess>This man clearly loves growing plants>Yet subjects himself to brutality all the time>I know! The True Fae doesn't understand that you can hold two different completely hobbies at once because that doesn't make sense in storytelling logic.IDK, I thought that sounded neat.
>>98541452I like to do unorthodox takes without completely breaking type. My current Changeling is an Ogre Farwalker, and while he is brutish and very rude, he's not dumb at all and well composed. Also, despite being stupid strong, he's not of particularly imposing size. He's a bit taller and broader than average, but by Ogre standards he's small. If someone were to actually examine his muscles though they'd notice how insanely dense and taut they are. Real sleeper build. >>98541467Yeah, I'm looking forward to whenever we finally get a face to face with her, instead of just piecing things together from research and interrogating her minions.
>>98541482>>98541382I don't know if you are being willfully ignorant, but the difference should be very clear, a mage can exist without dealing with paradox all the time (unless he's an archmage, which PCs aren't going to be 99% of the time), vampires can ignore Caine, most don't even know anything about him or care.Changelings deal with banality at every single moment, I recall an example from the rulebook being trying to enter a car that is too small for your "real" self, it's always there all the time and it impacts how your character interacts with the World in a very negative way, this turned me off immediately, and the main go to insult from changelingfags "you don't have le imagination/whimsy", you think a Mage doesn't need imagination and they don't deal with extraordinary and whimsical situations and beings all the time, but they are also much more than that.
>>98539003No more sloppa, PLEASE.
>>98541506It'd be freaky if she was totally lucid, but basically had given up on being human entirely.>I don't die>I don't age>Anything I want, I get>My stories never end>This is the ecstasy of my existence.
>>98541514>vampires can just ignore Caine>vampire can just ignore the Beast, the Jyhad, the thirst, sun sensitivity, etcIf you're free to blame the clash between chimeric reality and physical reality on Banality, I'm free to blame the vampiric condition and everything that it involves on Caine. You're free to not enjoy the conditions of a changeling's existence, but don't pretend that other splats don't have similar factors that force them to revolve around their new nature.
>>98541532Yeah like can we talk about how RAW the Curse makes it almost impossible for Garou to interact with humans in many ways, at all?
Since V6 is taking a back to legacy approach to the lore I wonder what it means werewolf and hunter assuming 6e survives to those game lines. Like H6 is simple since it could just go full Vigil and have the imbued one of the many hunter the players can join along side the Second inquisition whose probably Nerfed due to a combination of they leaders dying in the middle east and Funding cuts.W6 is much harder since it's designed from the ground up to not be legacy. Like the easiest solution is to end W5 setting with an apocalypse book and movie back to legacy and pretend that everything fine. Which I personally suspect paradox won't allow to happen for a verity of arbitrary reason like "IP consistency", a futile attempt at retain W5 fans and/or they Really uncomfortable with the concept of kinfolk and metis, going back to legacy means bring them back which would render it a no starter in they eyes.I honesty suspect that the result is a unhappy compromise where it's still W5 setting but events push it closer to legacy, Like the more moderate section of the Cult purging most of they more extreme members and rebrand back to the Get and the founding of the New Garou Republic.
>>98541553>legacyBegone with your gay-ass official Discord jargon.Any "legacy lore" shit is just empty pandering to old-timers and insistence that V6 is going to be just like the good old days, when it's just something fundamentally different shambling around in a VtM skin suit.So W6 might be all "Gaia is alive again! There is hope! Rage for the future!" but it'll still have all of the cultureless clans and the same nihilistic, centrist bullshit with a coat of old-timey paint on top.

Circling way back to the ethics of being a Hunter section, there's actually a good bit of nuance that I think often gets overlooked. Obviously, there's nothing morally wrong with killing some Sabbat fuckhead that views humans as livestock and thinks terrorizing and murdering an innocent person is a fun evening. But a "normal" neonate is a different story. Yeah, your typical false pretense feeding, even if nonviolent, is basically a weird in-between of assault and rape. But it gets messier from there. Very few vampires agreed to their embrace. Even those that may have said yes very likely had little idea what they were getting into. Worse still, feeding in small amounts frequently staves off the far worse result of trying to starve yourself out, which inevitably results in frenzy and the death of an innocent. Vampires in frenzy are not in control of their actions at all. Even if one does not believe the beast is actually a full on will of its own, it's essentially a hunger/anger/fear driven psychotic break/fugue state hybrid. And this state of being was essentially forced on the vampire in question. Now of course, there's counters. Feed only on animal blood, for one. That's easy to say, but let's be honest here. Animal blood tastes bad. Not like bland chicken bad, cardboard bad. At best. Even meh human blood tastes amazing. Imagine having to force yourself to eat horrible tasting food every day forever, when there's juicy ribeyes, baked potatoes, and ice cream constantly being dangled in front of you. Or the "just kill yourself" argument. Again, easy to say, but hard in practice. Many religions prohibit suicide. Even an atheist may struggle with the idea of just killing themselves, survival instincts are strong. This isn't some sort of sweeping for vampires, but there are certainly cases where hunting and killing one isn't black and white. And those are interesting, albeit rare situations. Since the most hunted vampires are the ones that leave a trail of dead.

W6 will be abandoned in favour of A6, the first new Ananasi book in 2 decades.Even now, WW are researching the latest in spider biology research to create more accurate Ananasi roleplay. Due to black widow also being a term for killer ladies, you WILL be able to fuck spiders, especially in LARP. >>98544138The funny thing is, everyone would be able to understand if they changed the name.Entropy is the sphere of Chaos. It governs Fate and Chance. It can decay things because everything is fated to decay amd decay itself is just order becoming more chaotic. It deals with ghosts and the low umbrae for the same reason ghosts can use the Fatalism Arcanos, the Low Umbrae is the Umbrae governing Fate. They named it "Entropy" in the thermodynamic sense, because whitewolf writers were huge nerds and wanted to look clever.
>>98541784agreed. Technocrats should be 100% fucked without their tools even if they are mages. In exchange, usually these tools are coincidental. Etherites and VA are, with a lot of justification and bullshit, allowed to some bullshit such as psionics or whathaveyou. Mystics can do whatever the fuck they want, but it's almost always vulgar as fuck. You can see this sort of in the "laying down your tools" mechanic, where mystics do it almost immediatly, but technocrats really don't. The problem is that the technocracy allows a lot of clearly complete bullshit instruments such as mental calculations instead of the intended hypertech.

>>98544171I haven't read anything from Anne Rice but when I was reading about vampire folklore the vamps have very notable differences. The biggest one of all is that there is no such thing as a Sire. Usually a vampire is someone who lived a sinful life or died with a strong desire for vengeance, or got excommunicated by the church(there's even an albanian variant where you can become one if you got turkish blood) and are as such ressurected as an unholy being. They can also fuck and have kids, like one story I read where a vampire in an island rose from the grave and left his old family and went to another island to make a new one. Eventually they realise what he was because his kids grew up to be ugly chuds.Honestly I thought that VtM encompassed vamps of every type with its clans and whatnot but its apparent how narrow their inspirations actually are.

I know few people have played, or even know the plot of VtM: Redemption, but I find Vukodlak (the primary antagonist, a Tzimisce Methuselah) absolutely hilarious in the best way. He claims to have been there for the First City despite the fact we're not even sure if he's actually a 4th gen at all. He won't shut up about how much he loves corrupting and defiling the virtuous. Most impressively, after you knock his dumb ass into torpor, his followers (mostly ghouls) manage to sneak him to NYC and actually convince most of NYC's Sabbat into following him. Under the promise that Vukodlak will be able to chain-diablerize the Antediluvians, and then subjugate the mortals, creating vampire paradise. Then the same night he arises from torpor fully, you and your coterie Final Death him. It's all so absurd it comes back around to making total sense. Of course it went down like that.
>>98545469This is actually a really good idea
>>98544322Fair enough, I can't say I thought he was ugly. I really don't get what it is with autists that makes them particularly prone to fall for the propaganda compared to the neurotypical population. I thought they had resistance against that
>>98545504Have this surveillance be simulated through this thread watching you roll all the dice to see how much of a clusterfuck it becomes
>>98545497To be fair even if that guy suffers from delusions of grandeur. He just had the terrible luck of kidnapping the love interest of one of the most busted protagonists in vampire lore. I know VtM: redemption is not really acknowledge as canon, but when protagonist shows up it's like an anime or comic. And that's even down playing the protagonist's love interest willpower to stack the deck in her favor and love interest.
>>98545522Protagonists for RPGs are hilarious because they're often extra fucking busted for the setting they're in. Take V in cyberpunk 2077 that motherfucker is basically the most powerful guy in the setting when you look at his feats to a ridiculous extent
>>98545522Yeah Christof is absolutely built stupid, but what I find more interesting is that Vukodlak's followers managed to psy-op most of the NYC Sabbat into forming a cult of personality around a Methuselah. It's both absurd and also completely believable they'd do that.
>>98545528>Protagonists for RPGs are hilarious because they're often extra fucking busted for the setting they're in. Nobody wants to play some idiot who stays a nobody forever after all. And if there's combat in the RPG the bodies will always stack up fast.

Okay, this might be an obvious question, but I'd rather ask than suffer in vain. What's the best way to stat up a Forsaken NPC for my Hunter: the Vigil game? I know that there's the Spirit Slayers book, but that's from 1st edition of Vigil and I don't know how it fits compared to changes in Werewolf: the Forsaken in the transition from 1st edition to 2nd.
>>98545596Sam Altman is a Yeren.
>>98545643Mr Costeau is a very bright man.
>>98545751If you don't want to go through the trouble of just learning how to make a character in Forsaken, Spirit Slayers is still "good enough". Though Spirit Slayers wolves will be weaker. Dominions are pretty solid dread powers, but they'll miss out on the bonkers regen in warform that proper Forsaken woofs have. Alternatively, you could make a "werewolf" out of the core dread powers and monster creation system in 2e, but know it'd be the furthest from the base. How much effort are you willing to put in, and how much do you care about accuracy?
>>98545751Besides making an actual PC stat blocks, most of them would be fine as Potency 3+ horrors for games.
>>98545761I'm willing to put in the effort, but I'm definitely feeling my head spin a little doing my first read-through of chapter 3 of Forsaken 2e... It's hard to tell what parts I'll need and what I probably don't.

>>98545788Forsaken can be a bit much to get your head around, I understand. I prefer Pure for antagonists in most cases, since creating them is easier (no auspice), and they're a little bit weaker. If you do end up getting a handle for Forsaken, unless your Hunters are pretty high exp, keep the entire pack in the 0-10 exp range. Uratha aren't an insurmountable foe or anything, but Hunters have a pretty bad match-up against them. On the flipside, don't think you've fucked up if fights are hyper-lethal if your PCs have silver. My guideline for a medium effort option:>Use the Spirit Slayers rules as is, adjusting for new core rules when applicable. (instead of hybrid form giving +2 dice to hit, they're 2L damage weapons)>Give it defense against firearms when in non-normal (human and wolf) forms.>Make a totem spirit using the normal ethereal being rules, and give all werewolves a bonus merit to reflect its blessing.>Optional: Change the fast healing to be all lethal damage if in bestial hybrid form (this is the big base template boost forsaken got in 2e)>Optional: Can change Lunacy to be a save or suck like in Forsaken 2e, but the old rules work fine, as it goes off Resolve + Composure. And for low effort: >Potency 3-5 HtV monster.>Dread powers about regeneration, natural weapons, speed, fucking with technology, causing fear and of course shapeshifting.>Give bane: Silver

I think it's fine for there to be redundancies between the Spheres. Like if you wanted an object to be warmer than its surroundings (I dunno, you're trying to survive the winter), you could use Forces (thermal energy) OR Life (endothermy) or even Entropy if you don't mind the thing slowly disintegrating because you're generating heat from decomposition

>>98546858Yeah but a lot of COfD splats are straight up considered better than their WOD counterparts. They really don’t want to introduce the Uratha as a Garou splinter nation that’s hunted by the others, similar to the Pure thing?
>>98546861>>98546812they did. wod5 is all about taking what they think is good from cofd and smashing it into a wod template without thinking a minute about why this works in their home games and why it might not work in the new contextthe entire thing with the two madness states not being able to stay in warform and shit like that in w5 IS paradox's attempt of turning the Garou into the Uratha same with touchstones, streamlined disiciplines and blood potency in v5. Is it shit? oh yeah but that IS the skill level wod5 is operating on that is their best attempt of making the best of two worlds

>>98546876Pure?>>98546873They don’t get what makes this stuff work. Jeez.
>>98546873I think a thing a lot of the new WoD writers don't entirely get is that I WANT to play the monster. If I wanted to play a troubled human I'd play a hunter game.Sure, Harano as a Supernatural Depression I get, and hell I even get the idea of Hauglosk as a Supernatural Eternal Frenzy. But tying these states so closely to mechanics seems a little antithetical to what WoD is about. Vampires have a whole alternative morality system for those who've lost touch with their humanity entirely, and werewolves never had a morality "system" in the first place, simply a method of gaining renown under three rather arbitrary pillars. Mage allows you to play subjectively awful people in the name of personal Ascension and the morality of what the Technocracy is doing is morally grey at best. And of course, the players will always desire to play the evil factions of every WoD game such that the writers have had to make even EVILER factions just to compensate and YET there are still people who want to play Nephandi and BSDs and Baali.
>>98546894There’s gotta be an ideal fusion of both game lines imo.Look through each edition
>>98546894> I WANT to play the monster. If I wanted to play a troubled human I'd play a hunter game.>YET there are still people who want to play Nephandi and BSDs and Baali.they flat out fired the people who pointed that out from W5 developmentthe infamous patron post about w5's development had the person who wrote it point out that if they make the get 100% fully and utteraly just nazis then people will still want a tribe book for them because people want to play the badguys and if not then the st still wants to portray the badguys hench why there is so much material about the BSDthe got fired for it but the get still got turned "insane" and "mad" instead of nazi afterwards
>>98546904I feel that there’s a spectrum. Some Garou are batshit insane nationalists. Others are more reasonable.
>>98546904The funny thing is, within the context of WoD?The W5 Nazi Get are completely correct. A lot of modernity, even the bits we enjoy, absolutely are results of the corruptor wyrm. If you wanna kill vampires because they're wyrmspawn, you'd get a lot more of them for targeting queers, since they're disproportionately that. If they're going full pop culture Viking LARP and have stronk valkyrie women and shieldmaidens, they're fighting the stasis of the Weaver and the aspect of the Patriarch. They're fully aware that your bloodline and genetics do matter, because they massively influence at the very least shifters and supernatural culture, let alone the human aspects. And their single minded devotion to the fight means they're practically the only ones getting shit done. The Get are so much more fascinating an antagonist from this angle. Especially since it's now reflecting how a lot of real life hard right groups are kind of accepted as having been sorta right on the influence of certain groups in society even by hard leftists now. If W5 wants to continue being reflective of real life leftist movements, the Get being weird nazi types that are still 'on your side' in a lot of ways has never been more relevant.
>>98546958That’s kinda fucked up
>>98546958>If you wanna kill vampires because they're wyrmspawn, you'd get a lot more of them for targeting queers, since they're disproportionately thatI must be tired because this basically sounds like arguing werewolves should be shooting up nightclubs to fight the Wyrm
>>98546958i still think it's funny that the literany is unchanged but the Get are considered worse than black spiral dancers for following said literany (you can negotiate with them, you can save them and they have unique rites and gifts all of which isn't true for the Get)especially because the new cosmology of w5 moves all the blame form the weaver to humanity itself means they really aren't really doing anything wrong on a metaphysical level and it was gaia who was wrong for giving fera human sides (yes w5 is that nihilistic in it's world building and then tells you to get a 9 to 5)
>>98546958Holy shit I NEED a woof variant of the "I know he did [REDACTED], but we need him for the team" meme but it's replaced with "Gaian Nation" instead and it's flimsy-looking glasswalker cartoon
>>98546966They're also less bad than the red talons, the literal omnicidal Impergium apologists.Which is fucking baffling when you remember that Woofism is supposed to be an analogy for White Man's Guilt. They're basically the guys going "Actually maybe things WERE better under the British Empire and we should've never stopped oppressing the browns for their own good."But the Get are the bad traditionalist guys because they're... vaguely analogous in the minds of some creators to eco-fascism, a movement that's at this point more about mitigating the effects of climate change than actually trying to solve it, which is very rapidly becoming the position of quite literally everyone.
>>98547014It feels like we need to double down on anti government corruption
>>98547014>But the Get are the bad traditionalist guys because they're... vaguely analogous in the minds of some creators to eco-fascismThe Get are bad guys because Karim Muammar, a Swede of Arabic descent who was one of many writers, one of two designers and developers and the sole editor for W5, considers the Get of Fenris to be emblematic of Scandinavian white supremacist movements and refused to have the Get featured as anything other than fascist extremist villains because of that. This was such a sticking point that he dropped an entire team that was working on the game over it, though he kept their work on the rest of the project and still used it.
>>98546894Yeah, I believe sometimes that's to protect the game from becoming like DnD in their heads or something so everyone doesn't focus on getting all the cool powers and how to use that to show how they're better than regular humans. Sometimes I like to think they use that as a reaction to the vampire larper and the accessories that end up murdering someone because they took the game too seriously. Could also be modern sensibility. I don't know if there is enough women or wannabe women to influence the IP that they'll shut down portraying villains or monsters. Regardless I feel like paradox or white wolf is just afraid that the players miss whatever point they're trying to make with their gameline.
>>98547014>Woofism is supposed to be an analogy for White Man's GuiltNot in my chronicles, baby!
